[00:00:00] NJD Podcast, Uncle Puckers

[00:01:30] We didn't score a point a game with 81 points in 82 games.

[00:02:00] Everybody was giving him every opportunity to get back in his playoff race down to the day they were eliminated.

[00:02:08] It's definitely disappointing, it makes you frustrated with the team as a fan.

[00:02:13] I'm sure many double fans are frustrated and you want change, you want something better.

[00:02:19] You know what's so concerning to me is part of the reason why I wanted Lindy Ruff fired,

[00:02:26] especially as early as I did want him fired.

[00:02:30] Partially because I felt like the team was not playing hard for him.

[00:02:35] He added a lot of things that I didn't like, I didn't like the way he was actually coaching,

[00:02:40] but it also seemed like he could not get anything out of his team.

[00:02:45] So a new voice in there and I don't know if that was Lindy Ruff,

[00:02:50] because they're playing the exact same way even worse under Travis Green.

[00:02:54] Is it just this team has no fight in them? They just don't give a shit.

[00:02:58] I don't want to believe that.

[00:03:00] You know the first, I don't know, handful of games, four or five, we were giving credit screen.

[00:03:04] There was a difference in their play. Maybe they weren't winning as much.

[00:03:07] But then they just fizzled out.

[00:03:09] It looked better and then yeah, completely fizzled and there's more injuries to come.

[00:03:12] But yeah, you're right. I mean, what is it?

[00:03:16] I don't know.

[00:03:17] Could not shake that shadow.

[00:03:19] Maybe from all season long, all the excuses that were built in that you'd hear from everywhere,

[00:03:25] from media, eventually from their own coach and GM about injuries, injuries,

[00:03:31] and all these reasons why don't worry about it.

[00:03:35] And it just seemed like they had time all season long to turn things around

[00:03:40] until it became ingrained behavior.

[00:03:42] And at that point, they could not really get out of the habits

[00:03:47] that they formed all year long.

[00:03:49] Watch the broadcast.

[00:03:50] How worrisome is that to you?

[00:03:52] Very. I think though at some point, especially down the stretch from Travis Green on,

[00:03:58] after an initial little shot in the arm, they fell back into that

[00:04:03] and they basically threw the season away.

[00:04:05] Which is real shame when you look, hold on a second,

[00:04:08] you guys had a chance to limp into the playoffs, yes, maybe get bounced the first round.

[00:04:14] If you just would have kept some intensity up, you know,

[00:04:17] but I think they purposely, you know, just, they just could not find it within themselves to believe, you know,

[00:04:24] comes down to something that.

[00:04:26] Yeah, exactly.

[00:04:28] Became a habit.

[00:04:29] I really hope that's not the majority of the makeup on the scene

[00:04:33] because they're not going to do shit moving forward.

[00:04:36] Yeah.

[00:04:37] I don't think it's the majority.

[00:04:39] I mean, at least not from some of the guys, you know, that will label us the core again.

[00:04:43] I mean, for my money, you know, Brad's been the engine the last 30 days plus.

[00:04:48] Timo Myers, he can do when he's healthy.

[00:04:51] Jack was hurt, hurt all year for the most part, which everyone kind of knew.

[00:04:55] Do you know?

[00:04:56] It's more of a, you know, our core engine was trying to pull the fucking train,

[00:05:01] but we just didn't have the supporting cast.

[00:05:03] I think there's some of that.

[00:05:04] I think Dan's right though too.

[00:05:05] I think there's something in their head about that belief mentality

[00:05:08] like the team we saw last year that would score two, three goals

[00:05:11] in a couple of minutes to tie it up when it forced overtime.

[00:05:14] No quit.

[00:05:15] They showed sparks to that this year where they could do that.

[00:05:18] But like, look at our track record with the empty net, right?

[00:05:21] I mean, that was ridiculous how often we were scored on it and didn't wind up scoring

[00:05:25] when we had our goalie pulled.

[00:05:27] Real interesting stat from Bill Spalding last week.

[00:05:30] I forgot to mention it was maybe when there was like three, four games left.

[00:05:33] I think I know the style you're going to say.

[00:05:35] Yeah.

[00:05:36] At that moment he was in minus 23.

[00:05:39] And Bill Spalding said he's a minus 22 when on the ice for empty net goals against.

[00:05:44] Wow.

[00:05:45] Because they're putting him out there to basically do the impossible.

[00:05:48] Yeah.

[00:05:49] So you take those away and the kid was a minus one after all that this year.

[00:05:52] Very impressive.

[00:05:53] Yeah, it really is.

[00:05:55] It is.

[00:05:56] His play has been impressive all year and there has been bright,

[00:05:59] you know, bright patches this year.

[00:06:02] Just when you start talking about how, you know, just it wasn't out of reach

[00:06:08] for anything other than the fact that they just didn't go get it.

[00:06:12] You know, it was all there for them and they were,

[00:06:15] if they were playing up to their potential out of them,

[00:06:18] the Islanders, the Penguins, the Red Wings, Philly, even Tampa,

[00:06:23] I would say the Devils were the best team out of them.

[00:06:26] Like if they just somehow found a way to get their shit together,

[00:06:29] they'd be third in the Metropolitan Division right now.

[00:06:32] Yeah.

[00:06:33] And they'd be going into the playoffs to face Carolina

[00:06:35] and we'd be feeling really good about the devil play because they had that potential.

[00:06:40] Now I know Jack's injury and everything else, maybe just this, you know,

[00:06:44] maybe this just isn't the year and it wasn't, but like,

[00:06:48] maybe we just need to chalk it up to just bad luck circumstance, shitty,

[00:06:52] everything and move on.

[00:06:54] I don't know, but the fact that like even last night,

[00:06:56] your last home game and that's what you put on the ice for your fans.

[00:07:00] Like that's fucking embarrassing.

[00:07:02] It is.

[00:07:03] Definitely some chatter about the fans who went that weren't very happy with that.

[00:07:07] Yeah, and you know, I get it.

[00:07:10] You know, you watch them all season long, you know, you get out to these games,

[00:07:14] you come in there and that's the effort you see.

[00:07:17] I understand.

[00:07:18] I'm not saying I'm the kind of person who's going to boo my team.

[00:07:21] I never have, but I get the idea.

[00:07:24] I mean, in a way we're kind of, you know,

[00:07:27] going over exactly what these fans are booing about.

[00:07:30] So we totally agree.

[00:07:33] Very frustrated.

[00:07:34] People spend a lot of frigging money to go up to these games.

[00:07:36] Absolutely.

[00:07:37] You know, you don't mind seeing a team lose your boys lose as long as it was a good game

[00:07:41] and they put it out there, but so few times this year,

[00:07:44] did they really play a complete 60 minute game?

[00:07:47] Yeah.

[00:07:48] Too few times that they look like, you know, they even gave a shit.

[00:07:52] Like once things got, and maybe I think a lot of it is what you said, Dan,

[00:07:56] like the just ingrained mindset of, you know, just we can't do anything right.

[00:08:03] And, you know, it just, you know, why bother kind of thing?

[00:08:06] It's not a why, you know what I'm not saying they click.

[00:08:08] Even when one or two things go right, you feel like,

[00:08:11] well, the third thing's not going to go right.

[00:08:13] You know, you saw that.

[00:08:14] They could never string wins together.

[00:08:16] These games at this down the stretch to blowing the leads in the third

[00:08:19] loan and lead and almost blowing a three goal lead against Ottawa.

[00:08:23] I don't know how to describe it other than something psychological where you just,

[00:08:27] you know, you're bringing that negativity into a situation when even

[00:08:32] when things are going good.

[00:08:34] They didn't even have like a sample to fall back on and say, hey, last month

[00:08:38] we won five in a row.

[00:08:39] Remember, like they didn't even have that.

[00:08:41] It's always been one step forward two steps back.

[00:08:44] It's got it.

[00:08:45] It's got a dog on you after a while.

[00:08:46] And this team just has to grow up a little bit, I think.

[00:08:49] And, you know, get the right supporting cast around the guys.

[00:08:52] And, you know, it's going to be the conversation going forward.

[00:08:56] It's a coach.

[00:08:57] It's a goalie and it's supporting pieces and let's, you know,

[00:09:00] try and get this thing going.

[00:09:01] I wonder if some players are thinking others are maybe a little

[00:09:05] deluded about their play and their contribution and they feel like

[00:09:09] it's so broken that way that that's part of the negativity where

[00:09:13] that's something a good coach can come in and call the individuals who

[00:09:17] need to have their shit called and straighten it out.

[00:09:20] Exactly.

[00:09:21] They feel like somebody's in charge because this has that negativity

[00:09:23] where it's also like, you know, who's at the helm of the ship?

[00:09:27] And I feel like, you know, Travis Kreme wasn't it.

[00:09:31] They had a little bit of a bump when he came in, but I think

[00:09:34] that was more about just, you know, okay, we've blamed him.

[00:09:37] Now he's gone, but, you know, that didn't last very long.

[00:09:40] I kind of feel bad for Travis Kreme to be honest with you.

[00:09:43] Oh yeah.

[00:09:44] You want to put them in no man's land.

[00:09:46] Yeah.

[00:09:47] You know, he comes into a situation.

[00:09:48] It's an impossible situation, you know, like because it wasn't

[00:09:53] just that we had guys underperforming on the team.

[00:09:57] It was the system in general and I think that Travis Kreme

[00:10:00] probably knew that and, you know, probably wanted to change a

[00:10:03] lot of things but also saying I only have 21 games.

[00:10:05] Yeah.

[00:10:06] Like how much am I changing?

[00:10:07] Like we have to just try and radically different system.

[00:10:10] And then just trying to get everything, get the best I

[00:10:13] can out of these guys and, you know, they didn't, I think,

[00:10:17] I didn't, I wouldn't have enough to limp the playoffs actually.

[00:10:20] Yeah.

[00:10:21] And I just think the team didn't live up to their end of the bargain.

[00:10:23] You know, I think Travis Kreme kind of did the best he can.

[00:10:25] Yes.

[00:10:26] Literally the only thing that would have worked for him going

[00:10:29] forward was a run that showed, okay, he got this team in

[00:10:33] and gets a plan.

[00:10:34] At this point without that, like I can't see any scenario

[00:10:37] that he's hired for this team.

[00:10:39] The last week of the devil's play assured that Travis

[00:10:42] Kreme is now completely out of the conversation of devil's

[00:10:45] head coach.

[00:10:46] There's just no chance.

[00:10:47] Yeah.

[00:10:48] And then you get a new coach and, you know, they love to pick

[00:10:49] their own staff.

[00:10:50] I mean, I'm sure Kreme's a great hockey guy but they might

[00:10:52] keep him along in some capacity but probably not.

[00:10:54] No, they won't.

[00:10:55] You know, they'll fire everybody.

[00:10:56] I mean whoever comes in, let's say for a Sega argument

[00:10:58] and it's not going to happen, it was Kreme.

[00:11:00] I still would clean house.

[00:11:01] Like, you know, whoever comes in needs to just completely

[00:11:03] start fresh to get that new vibe going.

[00:11:06] Very hardly ever does any head coach in any sport come in

[00:11:09] and keep people.

[00:11:10] Yeah.

[00:11:11] It's just they bring their own people in and that's it.

[00:11:13] And that's how it should be.

[00:11:15] You're firing the head coach because, and nobody else was

[00:11:17] doing their job either, you know?

[00:11:19] You gotta get a new voice in there.

[00:11:21] So we did our little goalie watch.

[00:11:23] You want to do coach watch?

[00:11:24] Oh yeah.

[00:11:25] Coach watch 2024.

[00:11:27] Coach watch.

[00:11:28] Yeah.

[00:11:29] Five guys here.

[00:11:30] All of them I think an upgrade of where we are right now

[00:11:34] but, you know, I got some info about them

[00:11:37] and let me know what you guys think.

[00:11:38] The first one is Craig Barubi.

[00:11:40] So Barubi coached in the league for eight years.

[00:11:43] He did two in Philadelphia, six in St. Louis.

[00:11:46] In 2018 he coached 63 games when he took over for the blues,

[00:11:51] took them to the cup.

[00:11:53] He was fired also this season after 28 games.

[00:11:56] They had a 13 and 14 record.

[00:11:59] So he finished coaching.

[00:12:02] Where am I here?

[00:12:05] With 543 games.

[00:12:10] He won 281, he lost 190 and he has 72 overtime losses.

[00:12:15] His winning percentage as a whole is 0.584

[00:12:19] and his playoff winning percentage is 466.

[00:12:23] Okay.

[00:12:24] Then I mean I like Craig Barubi.

[00:12:27] Yeah, we've been floating a few times this year

[00:12:29] as like, you know, somebody who's kind of a more stern,

[00:12:33] you know, runs a tight ship guy.

[00:12:35] You know, we were talking about maybe the need for a guy like that.

[00:12:39] Right.

[00:12:40] And his numbers aren't great but at the same time he,

[00:12:46] a lot of pieces were taken away from St. Louis

[00:12:49] the year after they won that cup

[00:12:51] and when he had the guys on the team

[00:12:54] he got the best out of them and they won a Stanley Cup

[00:12:57] and this team has a lot of guys.

[00:12:59] So it is kind of thinking, you know,

[00:13:01] hey he's already done it once before

[00:13:03] and he might be a really good dude behind his bench.

[00:13:06] And as a refresher that was December last place, right?

[00:13:12] And into the playoffs and won that cup.

[00:13:14] That was saying that was correct.

[00:13:15] Yeah, he took them, actually brought them up from last place

[00:13:17] at Christmastime to second in their division

[00:13:20] and then going all the way to the cup.

[00:13:22] They got that high so they were...

[00:13:24] They gave, you know, Bittington a lot of the credit for that.

[00:13:27] They brought him up and they sat Jake Allen

[00:13:30] and they brought him Bittington

[00:13:32] and he was ridiculous at that playoff.

[00:13:35] And it wasn't like a run like the Panthers had last year

[00:13:40] where they got hot, you know, a little bit, a lot later

[00:13:43] and then just had that remarkable run.

[00:13:45] Like they just went from playing really bad hockey

[00:13:48] to really amazing hockey overnight

[00:13:50] and then they just ran it, you know, right through to playoffs

[00:13:53] which is pretty impressive.

[00:13:55] Would have loved to get them in the minute

[00:13:57] so the day they fired them this year.

[00:13:59] Yeah, right now he might be tied with, as my second guy

[00:14:05] on this list.

[00:14:07] So next guy is Jay Woodcroft

[00:14:09] who this year just got fired from Edmonton.

[00:14:12] So he's 47.

[00:14:14] They hired him, Edmonton hired him in 21-22

[00:14:17] and they fired him this year with 38 games left.

[00:14:20] I'm sorry, they hired him in 2012

[00:14:26] when they only had 38 games left

[00:14:28] so they fired whoever was their coach at the time

[00:14:31] and they brought in Jay Woodcroft.

[00:14:33] Actually, it might have been Todd McClellan that they fired.

[00:14:37] So, and they brought him in Jay Woodcroft with 38 games left

[00:14:41] and he was fired this year, 13 games into the season this year.

[00:14:44] Now if you remember Edmonton was having a horrible 13 games

[00:14:48] but that when you look back at it, it's kind of crazy right?

[00:14:52] 13 games, yeah?

[00:14:54] We went all out, you know?

[00:14:55] Started the season.

[00:14:56] I mean, I guess you really can't doubt it.

[00:14:58] It worked right?

[00:14:59] Edmonton's been playing awesome since but...

[00:15:02] We should hire him and then fire him 13 games in.

[00:15:04] That could work.

[00:15:05] That's the way to do it.

[00:15:06] So he hasn't coached much, you know, 133 games,

[00:15:10] 79 wins, 41 losses, 13 overtime losses

[00:15:14] but he does have a 6-43 winning percentage

[00:15:16] and he's 500 in the playoffs.

[00:15:18] So that's Jay Woodcroft.

[00:15:23] I'm not sure how I feel about that one.

[00:15:26] I don't know if he's a guy.

[00:15:27] I don't know enough about him.

[00:15:28] Besides his numbers, his style, I don't really know.

[00:15:31] Yeah, zero about his style.

[00:15:33] I mean, what kind of style coach are you

[00:15:36] when you have to coach David?

[00:15:37] I don't know.

[00:15:38] Yeah, fast.

[00:15:39] I mean, if he likes doing offense, you know,

[00:15:42] but maybe that could be good for us.

[00:15:44] I mean, his style too, like, you know,

[00:15:46] what type of coach has he come off as?

[00:15:48] Is he a best friend?

[00:15:49] Is he a hard ass?

[00:15:50] Like, I just don't know.

[00:15:51] I guess, you know, if he had some success

[00:15:53] up until this year, coaching McDavid,

[00:15:55] you know, he seemed like, I guess,

[00:15:57] he got along good with the star players,

[00:15:59] which is something that is a dynamic now on the doubles.

[00:16:02] So I don't know.

[00:16:03] That's true.

[00:16:04] There's a plus if I'm looking for one.

[00:16:05] I don't know.

[00:16:06] I feel kind of ambivalent about him,

[00:16:07] but I don't know him very well.

[00:16:11] Well, this guy, you know, is Mike Sullivan.

[00:16:13] Right.

[00:16:14] So 11 years coaching, two in Boston.

[00:16:18] The last nine he's been in Pittsburgh.

[00:16:20] 2015, 16, 16, 17, one cups.

[00:16:24] Yeah, 834 games coached 445 wins,

[00:16:28] 274 losses, 15 ties and 100 overtime losses

[00:16:32] with 603 winning percentage.

[00:16:34] And he's 528 in the playoffs.

[00:16:37] So the best numbers so far.

[00:16:39] Yes.

[00:16:40] A lot of that with a quality Pittsburgh team.

[00:16:42] Yeah, that was some of the best years

[00:16:44] for Pittsburgh.

[00:16:45] But really got the best out of those guys.

[00:16:49] Like Mike Sullivan is a damn good coach.

[00:16:52] Oh, well done.

[00:16:53] Yeah, I think him with the Devils,

[00:16:55] I'd be fine with that.

[00:16:56] I mean, there are a couple of guys

[00:16:58] that I'd like to try and get before him.

[00:17:00] But if he was the guy that Fitzgerald settled on,

[00:17:03] I'd be totally fine with that.

[00:17:05] You would say he's got Bonafides

[00:17:07] with the two cups?

[00:17:08] Absolutely, man.

[00:17:09] Yeah, exactly.

[00:17:10] You know, he's the only one on this list

[00:17:12] with multiple cups.

[00:17:14] I feel like that's kind of a prerequisite.

[00:17:17] It is, right?

[00:17:18] You got to have that cup experience, you know,

[00:17:22] because that's what we're looking to do now.

[00:17:24] So right now, we have three guys total that have cups.

[00:17:27] Only two have gotten the cups as head coaches.

[00:17:30] The third, Todd McClellan got his cup as an assistant coach

[00:17:33] with Sullivan and Barubi.

[00:17:34] So let's just take Woodcroft off.

[00:17:36] We're not going to be happy with Jake Woodcroft, right?

[00:17:38] Yeah, I mean probably not.

[00:17:39] No, not in that company.

[00:17:41] So the next guy, like I said, was Todd McClellan.

[00:17:44] 16 years as a head coach,

[00:17:46] he was in San Jose.

[00:17:48] He was with LA and Edmonton.

[00:17:50] San Jose, he had a 637 win percentage

[00:17:54] and he was 484 in the playoffs with the,

[00:17:56] I mean that's what the sharks with the Kings.

[00:17:58] He was at the 550 winning percentage,

[00:18:00] 385 in the playoffs with Edmonton

[00:18:03] for four years, a 508 winning percentage,

[00:18:05] a 538 winning percentage in the playoffs.

[00:18:08] So Todd McClellan's numbers, regular season

[00:18:13] from every franchise he went to steadily went down.

[00:18:17] So his coaching performances had dwindled throughout his,

[00:18:21] San Jose team was the best,

[00:18:23] Kings were the second best, Edmonton was the worst team.

[00:18:26] He's got a ton of experience though,

[00:18:29] 1144 games, 598 wins, 412 losses, 134 overtime losses.

[00:18:36] His career winning percentage is 581

[00:18:39] and his career playoff winning percentage is 477.

[00:18:43] Interesting.

[00:18:45] Now, McClellan has a lot of experience

[00:18:49] and he's got a lot of,

[00:18:52] he was very highly regarded in the NHL

[00:18:56] and amongst other players and other coaches

[00:18:59] and by the numbers just behind Sullivan I guess?

[00:19:02] Yeah, I mean he's gotten, they won a cup,

[00:19:05] he was with them when the Kings,

[00:19:07] he was the assistant coach with the Kings

[00:19:09] when they won their cup in I think against us.

[00:19:12] So I really like Todd McClellan,

[00:19:16] I really think that, you know,

[00:19:19] he had some really good King teams

[00:19:22] and really good Edmonton teams.

[00:19:25] I like them.

[00:19:27] He's got experience with fast teams like you guys.

[00:19:29] Yeah, and Bobby I know you don't know much about him but...

[00:19:32] Yeah.

[00:19:34] I mean, I can't get the warm fuzzies from him.

[00:19:36] No, you're not interested.

[00:19:38] Initially, I mean I know we're going to get four or five here

[00:19:40] and I'll probably have to rank them in some way

[00:19:42] and just initial reaction right now is probably not my top three.

[00:19:45] But that can change.

[00:19:47] The last guy on this list

[00:19:50] already should be out of the running

[00:19:53] because he does not have a Stanley Cup as a head coach.

[00:19:56] So we probably shouldn't even talk about Rob Brindemore.

[00:20:00] I'll make an exception.

[00:20:02] Let's talk about him.

[00:20:04] Yeah, so like Rob Brindemore is

[00:20:07] I think every devil fan's dream

[00:20:11] head coach right? Like who do you want as a head coach?

[00:20:14] It's Rob Brindemore and you really don't say anything else.

[00:20:17] He's a unicorn though, so you don't mind saying it

[00:20:20] because you're never going to have him.

[00:20:22] Can you clone him?

[00:20:24] I think there's quite a few other devil fans like

[00:20:27] as a devil fan you never really enjoyed the Flyers

[00:20:30] right? Everybody always

[00:20:32] love Brindemore.

[00:20:34] It doesn't matter.

[00:20:36] He was the one flyer that you could say

[00:20:38] who's your favorite flyer, you're a devil fan.

[00:20:40] Rob Brindemore.

[00:20:42] He's still my favorite flyer.

[00:20:44] But like I said he's a unicorn

[00:20:47] you're never going to get him.

[00:20:49] It's just never going to happen right?

[00:20:51] Because Carolina is not stupid.

[00:20:53] They're not ever letting Rob Brindemore walk out that door.

[00:20:56] I think that would be a big mistake.

[00:20:58] Who knows?

[00:21:00] I'm sure if we looked and did any research

[00:21:02] we would see like they probably have him signed to Tony.

[00:21:04] Oh they're extending over and over again.

[00:21:06] Right, you would do whatever you could

[00:21:08] to just keep him in Carolina

[00:21:10] as long as that franchise is there.

[00:21:12] It says he got butt here.

[00:21:14] Right.

[00:21:16] So Rob Brindemore is a free agent this year.

[00:21:18] What?

[00:21:20] And for some reason

[00:21:22] Carolina either has not

[00:21:24] handed an exam

[00:21:26] or has not

[00:21:28] handed an extension to him

[00:21:30] or they maybe handed him an extension

[00:21:32] he wasn't so happy with.

[00:21:34] Wow.

[00:21:36] That doesn't necessarily mean.

[00:21:38] Absolutely.

[00:21:40] But why the hell wouldn't they have this guy extended?

[00:21:42] Now I understand most a lot of players

[00:21:44] and coaches they don't want to do anything

[00:21:46] while they're still playing hockey.

[00:21:48] So maybe there is something underlying

[00:21:50] that will be taken care of as soon as hurricanes are out.

[00:21:52] But

[00:21:54] it's not really fucking reckless, doesn't it?

[00:21:56] Sure.

[00:21:58] I'm getting excited. Wonder if he still has family

[00:22:00] in the area or something weird.

[00:22:02] You want to get more excited?

[00:22:04] Yeah tell me more.

[00:22:06] So

[00:22:08] Rob Brindemore

[00:22:10] he's got to be one of the highest paid coaches right?

[00:22:12] It's going to cost us a pretty penny I assume.

[00:22:14] I mean you would think

[00:22:16] this guy is coming in

[00:22:18] with

[00:22:20] Connor McDavid, Boston Matthews

[00:22:22] and the Premier Coach

[00:22:24] in the league

[00:22:26] you got to pay the guy a lot of money right?

[00:22:28] Break the bank.

[00:22:30] No he does not get paid a lot of money.

[00:22:32] He has made

[00:22:34] what's the word

[00:22:36] $2 million this year.

[00:22:38] That's it. I'm pulling up a list right now

[00:22:40] and

[00:22:42] I'm so ignorant of coaches salaries because it doesn't

[00:22:44] affect the cap.

[00:22:46] Is that a lot? I don't even know.

[00:22:48] Where is that message at?

[00:22:50] I could pay him $8 billion.

[00:22:52] I wouldn't give a shit. I'd work for it.

[00:22:54] Yeah they could pay him $8 or $8 billion.

[00:22:56] I don't care

[00:22:58] because you know, but you know you make a good point

[00:23:00] like are you going to get him? Does the franchise want to spend?

[00:23:02] What's the spending coach

[00:23:04] these days?

[00:23:06] Well I had a list and give me one

[00:23:08] second I'm trying to find it.

[00:23:10] Okay so

[00:23:12] right now this year

[00:23:14] the number one coach was Tom McClellan

[00:23:16] with the Kings

[00:23:18] $4 million.

[00:23:20] Peter La Violette makes

[00:23:22] $4.9. He's number two. Bruce Cassidy

[00:23:24] with the Knights

[00:23:26] $4.5.

[00:23:28] So you know Bruce Cassidy, it's good money. Stanley

[00:23:30] Cup winner.

[00:23:32] Peter DeBoer with Dallas gets four and a quarter.

[00:23:34] John Cooper

[00:23:36] Tampa Bay gets 4 million.

[00:23:38] Babcock made 4 million.

[00:23:40] John Tortorella got 4 million.

[00:23:42] Paul Morris

[00:23:44] got 3.9 million.

[00:23:46] He got 3.5

[00:23:48] This is the top 10.

[00:23:50] Martin San Luis, Montreal

[00:23:52] 3 million. That's the top 10.

[00:23:54] The wonder

[00:23:56] Brenden Moore is inside the extension.

[00:23:58] Maybe he's so reckless after all right?

[00:24:00] Seems like the starting line here

[00:24:02] is 4 million

[00:24:04] to begin negotiation. I know

[00:24:06] I'm just saying the starting line is out of

[00:24:08] So yeah would you go with a 5 for him

[00:24:10] and make him the highest

[00:24:12] maybe he's not the highest paid but you could make him the highest paid.

[00:24:14] That would make him the highest paid.

[00:24:16] But he deserves to be the highest paid

[00:24:18] even though he's never won a Stanley Cup.

[00:24:20] What

[00:24:22] a Rod Brenden Moore team brings to you

[00:24:24] is you're going to win

[00:24:26] cups like this Carolina team at some

[00:24:28] point if he's still behind the bench

[00:24:30] he's going to win a cup.

[00:24:32] He's going to bring you consistent

[00:24:34] success.

[00:24:36] He's so scared of him as a player.

[00:24:38] And you should be.

[00:24:40] But

[00:24:42] there's any kind of

[00:24:44] wandering eye from Ron Brenden Moore

[00:24:46] and pun intended because

[00:24:48] Motherfuckers crazy eyes.

[00:24:50] But if he seriously does have a wandering eye

[00:24:52] and he's maybe looking around the league

[00:24:54] if you're Tom Fitzgerald

[00:24:56] you say 5 million right?

[00:24:58] I'll give you 5 million.

[00:25:00] 20 million dollars.

[00:25:02] Come on in for 4 years.

[00:25:04] You have to do that.

[00:25:06] That's a great move because you got to get through Carolina

[00:25:08] and East and

[00:25:10] bring him the success he has

[00:25:12] while taking away from your nearest competitor

[00:25:14] it's the best move.

[00:25:16] If there's one place I would love to spend

[00:25:18] and buy and overpay it would be there

[00:25:20] because it also doesn't hurt the cap.

[00:25:22] I don't know how much you overpay on a coach.

[00:25:24] That's not the fucking salary cap money.

[00:25:26] Our owners are just about that.

[00:25:28] But

[00:25:30] this idea

[00:25:32] of just paying Rod Brenden Moore

[00:25:34] 5 million dollars us and probably

[00:25:36] 18 other teams are thinking the exact same

[00:25:38] thing.

[00:25:40] 5 million and 1 dollars.

[00:25:42] You have to go that high

[00:25:44] I don't know if you're willing to risk it.

[00:25:46] 18 other teams are doing that. He's going to want to

[00:25:48] say okay well the devils are paying me more.

[00:25:50] So what would make the devils

[00:25:52] the better coaching option?

[00:25:54] Yeah.

[00:25:56] In Carolina's division

[00:25:58] so that would be kind of cool like if he wanted

[00:26:00] to just shove it up their ass every time

[00:26:02] he played them.

[00:26:04] That would be fun.

[00:26:06] He's only played in the metro area

[00:26:08] and coached in the metro area

[00:26:10] so maybe he doesn't want to leave the metro area.

[00:26:12] That's what I'm thinking and maybe he has family

[00:26:14] from his years

[00:26:16] in Philadelphia

[00:26:18] and maybe there's a lot of reasons for him

[00:26:20] to consider. I'm just hoping

[00:26:22] and maybe he looks at this team and says

[00:26:24] I can make this team

[00:26:26] a winner. That's what you want from the coach

[00:26:28] but I think Rod Brenden Moore could actually

[00:26:30] really do it.

[00:26:32] Looking at that as long as he likes

[00:26:34] somewhat challenges because he has a winner.

[00:26:36] The Carolina

[00:26:38] is basically

[00:26:40] where we'd like to see devils

[00:26:42] next year in terms of the performance

[00:26:44] and work at everything else.

[00:26:46] But if they don't win the cup this year

[00:26:48] even from management

[00:26:50] maybe a thought of maybe we have

[00:26:52] to go in a different direction.

[00:26:54] This team

[00:26:56] that has been as good as they've been

[00:26:58] and if they don't get it done this year

[00:27:00] I'm just saying

[00:27:02] the most crazier things have been done.

[00:27:04] True but Carolina has always

[00:27:06] had the excuse last year

[00:27:08] and if they fail again this year

[00:27:10] of goal-tending.

[00:27:12] I didn't hear anybody impugning the way

[00:27:14] they played the coach and staff

[00:27:16] But their playoff play sometimes

[00:27:18] comes into question.

[00:27:20] That's true. They did not close

[00:27:22] a deal.

[00:27:24] I'm just saying there could be

[00:27:26] maybe

[00:27:28] wiggle room from both him and ownership

[00:27:30] and maybe not being such a hurry

[00:27:32] wiggle room is not the right word

[00:27:34] could not be in such a hurry to

[00:27:36] get this thing done.

[00:27:38] Out of any guy that's available this year

[00:27:40] there's only a handful of those

[00:27:42] really special coaches

[00:27:44] How long has he been the coach

[00:27:46] there?

[00:27:48] That was his first coaching gig

[00:27:50] This was his first coaching gig

[00:27:52] He went straight to head coach

[00:27:54] I don't even think he did the other ranks

[00:27:56] of coaching

[00:27:58] but he started there in

[00:28:00] 2018

[00:28:02] He's 451

[00:28:04] complete games coach

[00:28:06] 278 wins

[00:28:08] 129 losses

[00:28:10] 44 overtime losses

[00:28:12] a 665 winning percentage

[00:28:14] in the regular season.

[00:28:16] So he's had six years in so I was wondering

[00:28:18] if he's still

[00:28:20] earning the bigger contract

[00:28:22] The players come in contract one

[00:28:24] contract two but he's at the point where he should be paid

[00:28:26] for sure and lost up

[00:28:28] He was one of the higher paid

[00:28:30] guys with a longer term contract

[00:28:32] after the great years they had

[00:28:34] last year you're telling me

[00:28:36] that they didn't even they only offered him

[00:28:38] a one-year deal at that point because here we are

[00:28:40] again and he has no deal

[00:28:42] he wasn't a free agent last year

[00:28:44] oh he wasn't

[00:28:46] he just signed this contract

[00:28:48] like I think

[00:28:50] Either way it begs the question if he's

[00:28:52] expiring say on a four year

[00:28:54] and they haven't extended him

[00:28:56] what he can do

[00:28:58] they could have extended him last year

[00:29:00] you know and that's insane that they haven't

[00:29:02] we should have done it today

[00:29:04] their season wrapped up but

[00:29:06] let's see if Devils can take advantage of that

[00:29:08] I mean as far as wishlist goes

[00:29:10] absolutely he'd be my number one

[00:29:12] right and it is weird because I

[00:29:14] definitely believe that cup experience

[00:29:16] counts for a lot

[00:29:18] but he's kind of uh well you mentioned the word

[00:29:20] unicorn he's unique

[00:29:22] he's doing and you're willing to overlook

[00:29:24] that because of the other stuff he brings

[00:29:26] I guess the number two on the list

[00:29:28] would what maybe be Sullivan

[00:29:30] and then McClellan and then Barubi

[00:29:32] or to rank him here

[00:29:34] I alright so if I was to rank him

[00:29:36] I think I'd make go

[00:29:38] Brendon Moore and then

[00:29:40] the more I thought about it

[00:29:42] I'm kind of

[00:29:44] Mike Sullivan or Craig Barubi

[00:29:46] behind Brendon Moore

[00:29:48] and then look at the cups you know like uh

[00:29:50] Sullivan's got a lot of experience

[00:29:52] he does but I think what

[00:29:54] Barubi and Sullivan can bring to this team

[00:29:56] each in a different way

[00:29:58] but I think that they could each help this

[00:30:00] team and do really good

[00:30:02] I think Rod Brendon Moore would turn

[00:30:04] this bunch of

[00:30:06] little fucking cocky boys

[00:30:08] into grown ass men and get them to win Stanley Cups

[00:30:10] that's what I think

[00:30:12] Rod Brendon Moore would do

[00:30:14] never have a lay down game again that's for sure

[00:30:16] yeah and then like a commitment to a team defense

[00:30:18] and play that when you need it

[00:30:20] how many leads do we squander this year

[00:30:22] because we don't know how to clamp down and play team defense

[00:30:24] so like that's what I see

[00:30:26] in Brendon Moore I say he brings

[00:30:28] I know every coach wants to do that

[00:30:30] if we can't have Brendon Moore

[00:30:32] that's what I'm going to favor between Sullivan

[00:30:34] Barubi because as you put it out there

[00:30:36] maybe even more than McClellan

[00:30:38] I would want Barubi in my top three

[00:30:40] so yeah I kind of like that

[00:30:42] as your 1, 2, 3

[00:30:44] with a very clear 1 Brendon Moore

[00:30:46] Sullivan Barubi

[00:30:48] I want to look at who's going to put

[00:30:50] a more you know

[00:30:52] better team defense

[00:30:54] when it's on the line

[00:30:56] I was listening to Nico talking about

[00:30:58] the uphill battle they faced playing

[00:31:00] the Islanders last night

[00:31:02] and I'm not ragging on him because he's one of the only guys

[00:31:04] who consistently work hard believe me

[00:31:06] but he did say you know

[00:31:08] it's just they scored those two goals

[00:31:10] they play you know they drop into their 1, 3, 3

[00:31:12] or you know whatever

[00:31:14] they play their defensive game and it's

[00:31:16] it's um

[00:31:18] it's tough you know and maybe something we should learn from

[00:31:20] yeah no shit Nico that was not a direct quote

[00:31:22] but it's pretty close 100%

[00:31:24] and I want to I mean maybe he's calling

[00:31:26] for the coach that I want I want a coach who will

[00:31:28] have these guys playing defense when they need

[00:31:30] I think you know you look at last year

[00:31:32] they made up with such

[00:31:34] exuberance and scoring that

[00:31:36] you know I think

[00:31:38] it's hard to sustain year after year

[00:31:40] what is more sustainable

[00:31:42] is a team that yeah has the scoring

[00:31:44] has the depth to score

[00:31:46] but also when they need to win that

[00:31:48] you know game by one goal

[00:31:50] they got that lead

[00:31:52] in the second period will they hang on to it

[00:31:54] never this year did I feel the devils could do that

[00:31:56] and that's like

[00:31:58] maybe one of the biggest coaching changes

[00:32:00] um you know

[00:32:02] we said goaltending goaltending is huge

[00:32:04] we still gotta pursue it but look at this

[00:32:06] we've had pretty damn good goaltending

[00:32:08] and what has been missing

[00:32:10] is the team defense

[00:32:12] and the ability to you know

[00:32:14] dig down and play hard

[00:32:16] I think Brendan Moore would just be great for this team

[00:32:18] I don't know I'd love to see him here

[00:32:20] it would be awesome

[00:32:22] it would be awesome

[00:32:54] I bet you will

[00:32:56] I'm just this just

[00:32:58] I just I cannot

[00:33:00] get over the way that they just went out

[00:33:02] these last couple weeks

[00:33:04] like

[00:33:06] what was being said in that locker room

[00:33:08] do you think

[00:33:10] was there even anybody giving a shit

[00:33:12] because they just

[00:33:14] I know brat and teamo like you said brat was playing great

[00:33:16] at the end of the year

[00:33:18] but to not be able to carry anybody along

[00:33:20] like why were

[00:33:22] Nico disappeared

[00:33:24] I don't think there was anybody standing up in that locker room between periods

[00:33:26] giving a speech about why we were digging in

[00:33:28] no no no but they probably should have been about a month and a half

[00:33:30] two months ago

[00:33:32] that's what I'm saying

[00:33:34] I don't know

[00:33:36] when I think about that

[00:33:38] I tend to in my mind kind of blame the experienced guys

[00:33:40] more

[00:33:42] like you got these guys who are younger

[00:33:44] we went and got some guys with

[00:33:46] experience block haul etc

[00:33:48] and I just feel like

[00:33:50] they should have led the way here

[00:33:52] you know showed them

[00:33:54] hey guys we are still in this

[00:33:56] we got this

[00:33:58] and I don't know what was said but

[00:34:00] I can imagine you know what it's like when you hear

[00:34:02] the same

[00:34:04] speech just in different ways

[00:34:06] all season long

[00:34:08] and it never really really hit home

[00:34:10] never really lasted more than one or two games

[00:34:12] we didn't win more than three in a row

[00:34:14] and

[00:34:16] after a while you just stop believing

[00:34:18] I think that's what happened to them

[00:34:20] I think you're right

[00:34:22] never any moment

[00:34:24] never anything just carried through over and over

[00:34:26] yep

[00:34:28] now that was sad

[00:34:30] it's over now we can watch

[00:34:32] 16 real teams

[00:34:34] compete for a Stanley Cup

[00:34:36] which is going to be fun

[00:34:38] I think Thursday we'll do our previews

[00:34:40] whatever we'll get together

[00:34:42] and pick our brackets

[00:34:44] and do all our fun playoff shit

[00:34:46] but have any

[00:34:48] we have a firm bracket yet right

[00:34:50] no we'll be done I think tomorrow

[00:34:52] Dan

[00:34:54] Bobby too, you guys watched

[00:34:56] Scavengers reign on

[00:34:58] HBO Max

[00:35:00] no I've never heard of that one

[00:35:02] it is a

[00:35:04] crazy animated show

[00:35:06] yeah dude

[00:35:08] I think it's cool

[00:35:10] what kind of anime thing

[00:35:12] no it's kind of like archer anime

[00:35:14] oh okay gotcha

[00:35:16] I would say yeah a little bit like that

[00:35:18] but it's just a crazy

[00:35:20] show and I want somebody else to watch it

[00:35:22] because I don't know I think it's really cool

[00:35:24] and I think it's really good

[00:35:26] I want to talk about it with somebody

[00:35:28] Scavengers reign

[00:35:30] I'm all in on 3 body problem

[00:35:32] I only got 2 episodes left

[00:35:34] I'm absolutely loving it

[00:35:36] what is 3 body problem

[00:35:38] it is so up my alley

[00:35:40] basically it's

[00:35:42] alley

[00:35:44] I know I was just going to

[00:35:46] say where the alley was

[00:35:48] the premise is there's

[00:35:50] basically this

[00:35:52] planet in trouble

[00:35:54] and the 3 body problem

[00:35:56] is a scientific thing in the universe

[00:35:58] where 2 bodies can

[00:36:00] basically circle around each other

[00:36:02] without a problem but you add a third body

[00:36:04] everything becomes chaotic so

[00:36:06] you have like

[00:36:08] a planet stuck between multiple suns

[00:36:10] for example it wouldn't have a natural orbit

[00:36:12] anyway

[00:36:14] it covers a long period of time

[00:36:16] from the 60's to current day

[00:36:18] and all these ramifications

[00:36:20] of basically reaching out to space

[00:36:22] trying to see if we're not alone

[00:36:24] oh that's cool

[00:36:26] the first kind of

[00:36:28] it's so well written

[00:36:30] it's kind of like gory where it has to be

[00:36:32] because it helps to tell the story

[00:36:34] and kind of push it along

[00:36:36] but it's kind of like

[00:36:38] it has kind of like its own

[00:36:40] acts so at first

[00:36:42] there's literally

[00:36:44] trying to solve this 3 body problem

[00:36:46] the skeleton

[00:36:48] but then it kind of

[00:36:50] goes into another way of dealing with the 3 body problem

[00:36:52] I want to check

[00:36:54] Sam from Game of Thrones is in it

[00:36:56] it's hard to watch him in this role

[00:36:58] oh good thank god I was wondering if he was going to pop up again

[00:37:00] no he's alright

[00:37:02] we are into 2 shows right now

[00:37:04] what you watch

[00:37:06] just tonight we started watching fallout

[00:37:08] about 3 good things

[00:37:10] it's actually really funny

[00:37:12] in fact we were in the middle of the first episode

[00:37:14] really because we just finished the second episode

[00:37:16] we started watching it last night

[00:37:18] that's fucking weird

[00:37:20] yeah well I guess it's coming out recently

[00:37:22] I don't think it's been out that long

[00:37:24] but what did you think of it

[00:37:26] I thought I was interested

[00:37:28] I watched most of the first episode

[00:37:30] until I came down here

[00:37:32] well the first episode was a little introduction

[00:37:34] so the second one and we actually started the third episode

[00:37:36] I think we got like

[00:37:38] 15-20 minutes in

[00:37:40] so the second episode basically

[00:37:42] continues with their stories

[00:37:44] and who they all are

[00:37:46] but you know much more up on the surface

[00:37:48] but it kind of gets a little bit more

[00:37:50] confusing like

[00:37:52] you kind of leave

[00:37:54] episode 2 with a bunch of questions

[00:37:56] and then

[00:37:58] episode 3 was

[00:38:00] it seems like there's just going to be this

[00:38:02] on running you know

[00:38:04] we're not going to find out what this all means

[00:38:06] that they're doing

[00:38:08] probably like episode 10 so

[00:38:10] it's pretty cool though I mean I like it

[00:38:12] I'm definitely interested

[00:38:14] I'm sticking with it for now

[00:38:16] I kind of was like

[00:38:18] I liked the very opening scenes

[00:38:20] you know that are maybe in the original

[00:38:22] time well even before that

[00:38:24] just the very opening things

[00:38:26] you know in the world before it goes south

[00:38:28] well yeah as it goes south

[00:38:30] birthday party yeah

[00:38:32] and I thought that was neat so that got me a little hooked

[00:38:34] so yeah I'm going to check it out some

[00:38:36] and the other thing we're watching we're deep into

[00:38:38] and we're going to catch the new

[00:38:40] episode is that show guns

[00:38:42] feudal Japan

[00:38:44] yeah it's kept you know period peace feudal

[00:38:46] Japan

[00:38:48] samurai all that bullshit but it was actually

[00:38:50] pretty cool pretty well done

[00:38:52] there's like one Englishman there so you're like alright

[00:38:54] is this another like Tom Cruise last samurai

[00:38:56] shit but no they really

[00:38:58] didn't turn this guy into some kind of like

[00:39:00] super ninja which is you're like good

[00:39:02] you know because that's kind of annoying

[00:39:04] but um it is pretty cool

[00:39:06] I liked it it's neat I'm a little

[00:39:08] confused on some things like just like the

[00:39:10] family trees of these people like I'm just a little

[00:39:12] confused but mostly

[00:39:14] enjoyed I always get

[00:39:16] confused when there's big giant

[00:39:18] period pieces with tons of

[00:39:20] people involved like yeah it took me a lot

[00:39:22] of like the last episode of game of thrones

[00:39:24] who everybody was fucking in families

[00:39:26] with like I know what hell they are

[00:39:28] you know there's like this person's that person's

[00:39:30] uncle but then he's also this guy's cousin it's

[00:39:32] like you know it's like when you read like Lord of

[00:39:34] Rings like yeah but I tell you

[00:39:36] cousin and his uncle I can't figure this

[00:39:38] out I enjoyed game of thrones actually much more the second

[00:39:42] time I saw it just because I picked up a lot more shit

[00:39:44] yeah you know have a little bit of familiarity with each

[00:39:48] character like when I rewatched that very

[00:39:50] first episode you're like oh shit like

[00:39:52] yeah so much stuff in the first episode

[00:39:54] that I didn't even pick up into the second

[00:39:56] because it doesn't really matter

[00:39:58] till you get towards the end of the series

[00:40:00] you know which is crazy yeah they kept

[00:40:02] it going for how many years I also

[00:40:04] just finished watching in

[00:40:06] Invincible the two seasons of that on

[00:40:09] HBO Prime or Amazon Prime rather

[00:40:12] do you ever hear that?

[00:40:14] What is that one about?

[00:40:16] It's an animated show about

[00:40:18] what the hell is his name

[00:40:20] JK Simmons is that his name?

[00:40:22] Yeah yeah so he's a superhero

[00:40:24] named Omni Man and he has

[00:40:26] he's an alien

[00:40:28] he does this old kind of Superman

[00:40:30] thing that he came to Earth

[00:40:32] he has superpowers and he's here to help

[00:40:34] and his son you know he's with a human

[00:40:37] they have a son

[00:40:39] who takes the super name Invincible

[00:40:41] gets his powers like around 15 years old

[00:40:44] and then it kind of

[00:40:46] takes off where like the first episode

[00:40:48] he's kind of just showing his kid

[00:40:50] how to be a superhero and then

[00:40:52] shit gets really fucking dark

[00:40:54] really violent really gory really fast

[00:40:56] and it's awesome

[00:40:58] it is a freaking awesome show

[00:41:00] check it out

[00:41:02] yeah I guess I just watched more

[00:41:05] a lot more cartoons than you guys

[00:41:07] I'm like I'm really not happy

[00:41:09] we did watch the Blue-eyed samurai deal

[00:41:11] that was animated

[00:41:12] did you like it?

[00:41:14] I did it was alright I thought it was

[00:41:16] interesting it was not great great

[00:41:18] but it was good

[00:41:20] I didn't finish it I mean it was

[00:41:22] like a whole long thing right?

[00:41:24] Yes and no I mean yeah but

[00:41:26] it was neat it was

[00:41:28] and I think it's based a little bit more

[00:41:30] historical

[00:41:31] then you know which is kind of cool

[00:41:33] I guess I don't know

[00:41:35] yeah it was alright

[00:41:36] I'll definitely check out the second season

[00:41:38] but um yeah

[00:41:40] I gotta watch 3 Body Problem though

[00:41:42] dude like mentioned

[00:41:44] yeah that sounds really interesting

[00:41:46] first episode we'll grab you wondering what direction they're going

[00:41:48] yeah I love stuff

[00:41:50] I'm like mentioning to everybody in my family

[00:41:52] like everyone's like I've never heard of it

[00:41:54] we have no interest in watching it

[00:41:56] I wanna watch it with somebody

[00:41:58] am I gonna check that out?

[00:41:59] I'm definitely gonna check that out

[00:42:00] I don't know what I'm gonna watch tonight

[00:42:01] I don't know how much more Trump on trial

[00:42:03] I could watch

[00:42:04] I did not catch that I heard it was

[00:42:06] a crazy shit show and

[00:42:08] I'll sure I'll see Clips somewhere

[00:42:10] yeah well you know it's all the rage

[00:42:12] yeah right

[00:42:13] we're president on trial

[00:42:15] this is fucking nuts

[00:42:16] yeah so yeah anyway

[00:42:18] yeah so

[00:42:20] I need help here

[00:42:22] I usually go to Cap Friendly to check out the most recent roster

[00:42:24] as we know we've talked about a game

[00:42:26] that we're gonna play throughout the entire summer

[00:42:28] we're gonna take Frozen Roster as it was

[00:42:30] the last game

[00:42:32] and we're gonna predict basically our signing

[00:42:34] lineup throughout the year it'll change

[00:42:36] with trades with signings

[00:42:38] and come to be you know first

[00:42:40] game we're gonna see who's basically

[00:42:42] closest but I'm looking at the

[00:42:44] baseline is what you're saying right

[00:42:46] right well I'm looking down to game here and

[00:42:48] I don't know if there's an error or

[00:42:50] if this is right but they have it as

[00:42:52] Meyer Heesher Bratt

[00:42:54] Holtz Hall of Mercer

[00:42:56] and they only have

[00:42:58] Pallott and Nocic for line

[00:43:00] 3 and then they go to McDermott

[00:43:02] Tierney and Foote on line

[00:43:04] 4 was there not a right wing

[00:43:06] on line 3

[00:43:08] I don't know why they would have

[00:43:10] short a guy they called up a bunch of people

[00:43:12] wasn't Graham Clark in that game

[00:43:14] no was he

[00:43:16] he was in the game before

[00:43:18] no I thought he was out because Nocic was back in

[00:43:20] so I'll have to

[00:43:22] Google it a different way than to get the actual

[00:43:24] final lineup but

[00:43:26] yeah we'll run through it all summer

[00:43:28] occasionally of course

[00:43:30] and we're gonna score it like this come

[00:43:32] the end come opening day

[00:43:34] so you'll get one point for each player that's

[00:43:36] in the starting line

[00:43:38] so it means you wouldn't get a point for a player like

[00:43:40] McDermott if you say that's gonna be our roving

[00:43:42] kinda extra forward is gonna come

[00:43:44] in that lineup it's gonna be specifically for

[00:43:46] the top 20

[00:43:48] that are on line starting

[00:43:50] an additional point if you're on the correct line

[00:43:52] or pairing

[00:43:54] okay a final

[00:43:56] additional point if you nail the actual

[00:43:58] position left wing versus right is jack

[00:44:00] use back at center that kind of thing

[00:44:02] I got a couple ways to do the tiebreaker

[00:44:04] so

[00:44:06] I'll get the roster frozen and maybe once a week

[00:44:08] we'll just share what we think

[00:44:10] it's gonna be you can start recklessly speculating

[00:44:12] right now you can say we will day

[00:44:14] one you could say chucks in the lineup

[00:44:16] you know whatever you want to do

[00:44:18] we'll just watch it evolve throughout the year

[00:44:20] and we'll see who wins

[00:44:22] alright I like it

[00:44:24] I think that will be fun

[00:44:26] I'm gonna have to learn this one on the fly

[00:44:28] so I can bring it up right but I totally

[00:44:30] think it'll be fun I'm gonna give you

[00:44:32] the map as it is today

[00:44:34] of the lineup and then you're just gonna talk to me

[00:44:36] I'm gonna pencil in your names for you

[00:44:38] you say yeah he's gonna be there in the beginning

[00:44:40] of the year or there's no way he's gonna be back

[00:44:42] or whatever and then we go from

[00:44:44] there that's a lot of shit that you gotta keep track

[00:44:46] of Bobby

[00:44:48] well yeah that's not so bad

[00:44:50] alright well listen

[00:44:52] we could tell that this is a depressing

[00:44:54] last episode before the actual playoffs

[00:44:56] this was our like we're

[00:44:58] quitting this year's devil team to rest

[00:45:00] we're gonna bury him

[00:45:02] not gonna fucking talk about him again

[00:45:04] we got awesome playoffs to look forward to

[00:45:06] hopefully somebody other

[00:45:08] than the New York Rangers win the Stanley Cup

[00:45:10] because I don't know if I can handle that

[00:45:12] all summer long

[00:45:14] so yeah hopefully that happens

[00:45:16] and then we get into all the fun stuff

[00:45:18] so let's just enjoy the playoffs

[00:45:20] fuck this year's devils team

[00:45:22] they're dead, bloated and buried

[00:45:24] good?

[00:45:26] sounds good to me alright

[00:45:28] again moving forward in the summer we're gonna open up

[00:45:30] pucker predictions to the audience

[00:45:32] so we're gonna

[00:45:34] guide you probably to the website

[00:45:36] there'll be a pucker predictions page

[00:45:38] so we can get some people to

[00:45:40] put in their predictions

[00:45:42] we're not running out the details but it's not gonna be predictions that have to be

[00:45:44] week to week it could be something that doesn't come

[00:45:46] to fruition until the end of the year

[00:45:48] we'll keep tabs on that all the listeners will

[00:45:50] represent that category

[00:45:52] of listeners and

[00:45:54] we'll have a lot of fun with that too

[00:45:56] I think the playoffs start, do they start

[00:45:58] Saturday or Monday?

[00:46:00] this weekend or Monday? not a lot of time

[00:46:02] for it but maybe we'll pick up if we want to

[00:46:04] with the uh you know second round

[00:46:06] onwards see if we get a

[00:46:08] you know fan

[00:46:10] bracket prediction

[00:46:12] throw their bracket predictions of

[00:46:14] how it's gonna go

[00:46:16] match up with the win all the way to the cup
