[00:00:00] It's only a kick

[00:00:04] A jump

[00:00:06] A block

[00:00:08] It's only a serve

[00:00:10] It's only a tackle

[00:00:12] A run

[00:00:14] It's only for the fans

[00:00:16] After all, it's only pressure

[00:00:18] You got this

[00:00:20] Adidas

[00:00:30] You got this

[00:00:42] Hey everyone, Mr. Devil here, Kenny Danico

[00:00:44] Three times Stanley Cup champion of the NJD

[00:00:46] You're listening

[00:00:48] The Uncle Puckers NJD

[00:00:50] With Chris Dan, Bobby and Tony

[00:00:52] The Uncle Puckers

[00:00:54] Let's go devils

[00:00:56] What's up guys

[00:00:58] What's up

[00:01:00] We can't even play spoiler

[00:01:02] We can't even play

[00:01:04] Spoiler to a hated rival

[00:01:06] This was disappointing

[00:01:08] One goal

[00:01:10] That's all we wanted

[00:01:12] They were trying not to win that game

[00:01:14] Kind of seems like it

[00:01:16] But we are the Uncle Puckers

[00:01:18] Tony, Dan, Chris and Bobby

[00:01:20] So look, I mean I got a couple

[00:01:22] Things I want to talk about tonight

[00:01:24] But does anyone have any thoughts

[00:01:26] About the last two games

[00:01:28] The last two meaningless games

[00:01:30] That they want to discuss

[00:01:32] Yeah, that meaningless is the word

[00:01:34] That's the main descriptor there

[00:01:36] Really for everybody involved

[00:01:38] I don't think that it even

[00:01:40] Factored into Toronto's playoff picture

[00:01:42] We didn't move anything

[00:01:44] Needles is going out with a whimper

[00:01:46] Yeah, it is

[00:01:48] Tonight was just

[00:01:50] That was a horrible game to watch

[00:01:52] It was just a boring game

[00:01:54] The way the flyers play

[00:01:56] I hate the way we played

[00:01:58] Just punctuated the season

[00:02:00] Like I said, spoiler would have been fun

[00:02:02] Honestly it really would have

[00:02:04] Even just to come out

[00:02:06] And just shit the bed like that

[00:02:08] Again, it's just come on mercy please

[00:02:10] One more game

[00:02:12] Need to move on

[00:02:14] Like you guys have been saying

[00:02:16] The most exciting thing we had to look forward to

[00:02:18] Is this offseason because so much has to happen

[00:02:20] And can't happen, it should be a lot of fun

[00:02:22] So for all devil

[00:02:24] Fans that are listening right now

[00:02:26] Do not check out after Monday

[00:02:28] We are going to be here

[00:02:30] The same amount of shows right up until next season

[00:02:32] And we're going to be

[00:02:34] Your therapy for this year

[00:02:36] And we'll talk about every moves

[00:02:38] That are made or most likely aren't made

[00:02:40] We'll talk it through

[00:02:42] We'll get to them and at the end

[00:02:44] We'll be okay

[00:02:46] The devils might not be but we'll all be okay

[00:02:48] And the uncle fuckers will be there for you

[00:02:50] Devils fans have gotten through worse seasons

[00:02:52] No doubt

[00:02:54] With less light ahead

[00:02:56] Yeah, absolutely

[00:02:58] This is not the end

[00:03:00] This is a minor setback

[00:03:02] In the beginning

[00:03:04] Sure and the playoffs you know

[00:03:06] Is it going to be as fun to watch them

[00:03:08] 100% it won't be but

[00:03:10] There's still going to be some fun there and we'll talk about it

[00:03:12] Alright well why don't we start

[00:03:14] With our predictions from last week

[00:03:16] And now we're not going to do predictions this week

[00:03:18] Because we do only have the one game left with the Islanders

[00:03:20] So we're going to wait until the playoffs matchups are done

[00:03:22] And then we'll get together and do predictions

[00:03:24] For that week of playoff hockey

[00:03:26] But um

[00:03:28] We're going to start with Tony

[00:03:30] Alright Mr. Tony you said

[00:03:32] That Nico Heeser would have

[00:03:34] Two points against the

[00:03:36] Nashville Predators

[00:03:38] He had no

[00:03:40] Points

[00:03:42] You said, no you didn't say that

[00:03:44] Oh yeah he did I'm sorry I was looking at Tim's

[00:03:46] And then you said that the devils would

[00:03:48] Get two out of three

[00:03:50] Out of the two Toronto games and the Flyers

[00:03:52] They would win two and we won

[00:03:54] One

[00:03:56] Yankees won two today

[00:03:58] Yeah they won twice so that's good

[00:04:00] And then you said

[00:04:02] That Luke Hughes would have

[00:04:04] Three points over those three games

[00:04:08] He most certainly did

[00:04:10] Nice, nice

[00:04:12] Now we'll go to

[00:04:14] Guest

[00:04:16] Guest listener predictor Tim

[00:04:18] His predictions

[00:04:20] He had that Jesper Bratt

[00:04:22] Would get his 80th point this week

[00:04:24] From a goal

[00:04:26] He did get his 80th point

[00:04:28] But it was an assist

[00:04:30] He said that the devils

[00:04:32] Were going to go 3-0

[00:04:34] After that Nashville game

[00:04:38] They went one and two

[00:04:40] He said that Curtis McDermott

[00:04:42] Was in one of those Toronto games

[00:04:44] I was looking forward to that as well

[00:04:46] Yeah

[00:04:48] Reeves didn't play either

[00:04:50] Nope

[00:04:52] Alright I'll do mine now

[00:04:54] I said that the devils

[00:04:56] Would come back in the third period

[00:04:58] To beat the Nashville Predators

[00:05:00] I said

[00:05:02] That we would shut out the Flyers

[00:05:04] Tonight

[00:05:06] Do I get anything for that?

[00:05:08] So close

[00:05:10] Yeah and then I said that

[00:05:12] 10 or more goals would be

[00:05:14] Scored combined in one

[00:05:16] Of the games against the Maple Leafs

[00:05:20] We got 11

[00:05:22] That's pretty good

[00:05:24] Alright Dan

[00:05:26] You said that the devils

[00:05:28] Would get a shutout

[00:05:30] Again

[00:05:32] They were shut out

[00:05:34] You said that the devils

[00:05:36] Would get three or more out of a possible

[00:05:38] This week

[00:05:40] But you did say

[00:05:42] That a new player who has not been on this team yet

[00:05:44] From Utica would be called up

[00:05:46] And play

[00:05:48] Yeah it's a real one

[00:05:50] Wow

[00:05:52] It was a tough one with three games left too

[00:05:54] No playoff sir

[00:05:56] No one foot

[00:05:58] And

[00:06:00] In that first period too

[00:06:02] Alright Bobby

[00:06:04] We will go to you

[00:06:06] You said that the devils

[00:06:08] Win by two or more

[00:06:10] Against the Maple Leafs

[00:06:12] In one of the games

[00:06:14] And lose by two or more

[00:06:16] In one of the games against the Maple Leafs

[00:06:18] We did lose by two or more

[00:06:20] It was close

[00:06:22] Seriously

[00:06:24] 6-5 I couldn't be 6-4

[00:06:26] I don't know because they don't let me win

[00:06:28] Yeah anything

[00:06:30] I was happy just with that

[00:06:32] What's it called a 10th goal

[00:06:34] You said that John Marino would score a goal

[00:06:36] Submit him for Lazar

[00:06:38] Yeah

[00:06:40] And you said that the devils

[00:06:42] Would have at least three power play

[00:06:44] Goals this week

[00:06:46] And they did

[00:06:48] I do believe on the last podcast

[00:06:50] You said I don't know what he's smoking out there in Colorado

[00:06:52] You're right I did

[00:06:54] So Bob since you're here

[00:06:56] And you brought up Colorado

[00:06:58] How was your trip?

[00:07:00] It was great I mean as far as

[00:07:02] It's really great I do go out there

[00:07:04] Quite often and I don't usually have a lot of time

[00:07:06] So I found an inexpensive ticket

[00:07:08] Decided to go for it

[00:07:10] And I'll start with the good first

[00:07:12] And that is I've never been

[00:07:14] To a Western Conference arena before

[00:07:16] The reason I bring that up

[00:07:18] Is because I've watched a ton of hockey

[00:07:20] And specifically live hockey

[00:07:22] I have seen plenty

[00:07:24] Of Western Conference teams

[00:07:26] But I have never seen a Western Conference team

[00:07:28] Where it didn't have an Eastern

[00:07:30] Conference team that they're playing against

[00:07:32] Even when I went down to Washington

[00:07:34] And other arenas

[00:07:36] So this is my first time being in Colorado

[00:07:38] And seeing two Western Conference teams

[00:07:40] And it was against the stars

[00:07:42] So those are division rivals

[00:07:44] They were very close in the standings

[00:07:46] Turns out they do not look each other at all

[00:07:48] I didn't realize geographically

[00:07:50] That would be that big a deal

[00:07:52] But once you get out there

[00:07:54] Your nearest neighbors a little bit further

[00:07:56] Than we're used to

[00:07:58] So I was slow at first

[00:08:00] I was a little concerned

[00:08:02] I snapped the picture for you guys

[00:08:04] It was like 5-10 minutes for face off

[00:08:06] I'm waiting for the arena to kind of get full

[00:08:08] There wasn't much to see

[00:08:10] And then I thought initially I wouldn't be that impressed

[00:08:12] And then when things got going

[00:08:14] That was too loud

[00:08:16] The action on the ice was just absolutely incredible

[00:08:18] We've said this before many times

[00:08:20] Right about that Western style play

[00:08:22] That West Coast style play

[00:08:24] It was fantastic to see

[00:08:26] Oh Dallas

[00:08:28] Yeah

[00:08:30] Fantastic environment

[00:08:32] I wasn't overly impressed with the arena

[00:08:34] I guess in my head I thought it was newer

[00:08:36] But you know

[00:08:38] Avalanche came out in what, 96?

[00:08:40] First year and then what

[00:08:42] 96 is newer than there

[00:08:44] It was the same building

[00:08:46] No they started playing

[00:08:48] When they first came in

[00:08:50] They were playing at Mc Nichols Arena

[00:08:52] Which then became the FC center

[00:08:54] They played at the ball center

[00:08:56] Is it just a name change or was it an actual

[00:08:58] I think it's a new stadium

[00:09:00] Feel knew it all

[00:09:02] It felt very small, narrow in the hallways

[00:09:04] Otherwise

[00:09:06] Other than the play on the ice

[00:09:08] I wasn't that impressed with the atmosphere

[00:09:10] Like we get out here

[00:09:12] The other weird thing

[00:09:14] Was too, so I did get dropped off

[00:09:16] By an Uber

[00:09:18] I said listen what else is around the arena

[00:09:20] Is there any breweries or something like a walk-through

[00:09:22] There's one bar right in front

[00:09:24] I can drop you off there

[00:09:26] You won't really find much else

[00:09:28] That's not really how I like to roll

[00:09:30] So I got dropped off, I looked towards town

[00:09:32] In the buildings and said I'm just going to

[00:09:34] Walk up that way

[00:09:36] At one point I did feel like I was going to need

[00:09:38] To turn around, I'm really not seeing anything

[00:09:40] Should I go left or right

[00:09:42] Should I go back to the one bar I know is there

[00:09:44] And then I went up seeing a few avalanches

[00:09:46] I just kind of tailed behind that

[00:09:48] I found this nice little strip

[00:09:50] A little bit of everything but the really weird thing

[00:09:52] You guys remember Hell's Kitchen in Newark

[00:09:54] The proximity of that

[00:09:56] To the arena

[00:09:58] That's like a good 15 minute walk

[00:10:00] This is how

[00:10:02] Most of their places were

[00:10:04] And I found that very odd

[00:10:06] It was a very long kind of walk

[00:10:08] To the arena, it wasn't the bar

[00:10:10] That he was going to drop me off

[00:10:12] It was kind of like the arena bar

[00:10:14] In Newark, that first bar that kind of opened

[00:10:16] In the corners you can still see the potential centers

[00:10:18] That we have now with all the bars going on

[00:10:20] And Dynasty Darnas say Barbecue

[00:10:22] Around the side, this was like literally up the road

[00:10:24] And quite a far walk

[00:10:26] So that also kind of took away from like that

[00:10:28] Full on atmosphere

[00:10:30] Of what was going on

[00:10:32] But really great to get out there and see it

[00:10:34] Yeah, it was McNichols Arena

[00:10:36] That's where they first started playing

[00:10:38] And that was torn down in

[00:10:40] 2000 and the Ball Center was I believe

[00:10:42] Built

[00:10:44] It's all opened in 989

[00:10:46] It says

[00:10:48] Oh my god those seats

[00:10:50] The Ball Center opened 999 and tore the other one down

[00:10:52] In 2000 they closed McNichols Arena

[00:10:54] In September 29th, 1999

[00:10:56] So yeah

[00:10:58] But it was open since August of 75

[00:11:00] So that actually even predates narrow

[00:11:02] Until the top

[00:11:04] Like

[00:11:06] At one point I went down

[00:11:08] I grabbed a bottle of water, came back up

[00:11:10] Two people sitting on my seats like a couple

[00:11:12] I forgot there's just one seat off whatever

[00:11:14] I didn't sit in the seat next to him

[00:11:16] No one was in the row yet, I didn't care

[00:11:18] I literally almost fell just like trying to walk past

[00:11:20] The two of them

[00:11:22] You kind of do that half stand, get by

[00:11:24] It was so vertical

[00:11:26] And the aisles were so small

[00:11:28] What did you do when you walked?

[00:11:30] I always give him the ass

[00:11:32] Always give him the ass

[00:11:34] He got the ass, have a little of this

[00:11:36] There you go

[00:11:38] And then you drop your junk in front of his girl

[00:11:40] It made me really appreciate the potential center

[00:11:42] And I've been told that the lower level seats

[00:11:44] Are not as tight like that

[00:11:46] You pay a little more, you get a little more

[00:11:48] But as far as up top man

[00:11:50] One of those, you just look straight down

[00:11:52] Even potential center, you're on top of each other

[00:11:54] Every arena now is just

[00:11:56] Packaging like a fucking sardine

[00:11:58] I feel like I have fans out the upper deck a little bit

[00:12:00] It just doesn't feel like that vertical drop

[00:12:02] You know I've had times of Continental Airlines walking down those steps

[00:12:04] For them like I better hold this rail

[00:12:06] Or I'm gonna pick up momentum

[00:12:08] Like an elderly person

[00:12:10] You got to check it out

[00:12:12] I mean when I was down in

[00:12:14] In 2000 and

[00:12:16] 2000 actually I was down in Atlanta for my sister's

[00:12:18] Wedding and I caught a thrasher

[00:12:20] Coyote game

[00:12:22] And that was just being in a different arena

[00:12:24] Seeing two teams that aren't the devils

[00:12:26] This is pretty cool, it's a lot of fun

[00:12:28] I think that might be the only pro game

[00:12:30] I ever went to that wasn't a devil game

[00:12:32] It was fun, I gotta say the proximity

[00:12:34] Of Starz fans, it wasn't like a devils

[00:12:36] Ranger game, it was maybe more like

[00:12:38] Like a devils flyers maybe or devils

[00:12:40] We're still predominantly devils like 80-20

[00:12:42] But the Starz fans that were there were so

[00:12:44] Loud like during the national anthem it got to the part where they say

[00:12:46] Starz and they did that thing with

[00:12:48] I didn't even know there was that many Starz fans in the building

[00:12:50] And they just yell Starz or whatever

[00:12:52] And I was like holy shit, that's like incredible

[00:12:54] I look around surrounded by a lot of that ugly neon green

[00:12:56] So yeah, they

[00:12:58] Very entertaining

[00:13:00] You know real quick since the devils are

[00:13:02] Not playing again after Monday

[00:13:04] Um

[00:13:06] I don't like I have western conference teams

[00:13:08] I want to see good, I don't

[00:13:10] I don't have any eastern conference teams

[00:13:12] I want to see win the cup

[00:13:14] Are you guys all on western conference?

[00:13:16] I don't watch tend to do that

[00:13:18] Who do you want to see win it

[00:13:20] And not who you think is gonna

[00:13:22] But who would you like to see win the Stanley Cup

[00:13:24] Well I mean my initial prediction was Edmonton

[00:13:26] Right

[00:13:28] It doesn't necessarily want to see them win it

[00:13:30] I'm still kind of bullish on Dallas like it was last year

[00:13:32] And especially now getting a chance to watch them play again

[00:13:34] Who do you want to see win it

[00:13:36] You want Dallas to win it

[00:13:38] I guess maybe I do want

[00:13:40] To see Edmonton to win it for McDavid kind of thing

[00:13:42] But uh

[00:13:44] Danny you want to tell Bobby why you never root

[00:13:46] For a team from Dallas

[00:13:48] Texas in general

[00:13:50] Well yeah I mean you can't root for a Texas

[00:13:52] They killed Kennedy

[00:13:54] So you're gonna hold that against them forever

[00:13:56] And that's only right

[00:13:58] Absolutely

[00:14:00] And honestly I kind of don't want a Canadian team

[00:14:02] Because I like the streak

[00:14:04] I love these streaks that are like painful

[00:14:06] And I was

[00:14:08] I was sad when uh

[00:14:10] You know when the Red Sox won

[00:14:12] I just want to see bad streak continue

[00:14:14] So you know for Canada

[00:14:16] To just stay angry

[00:14:18] As a nation I would love that

[00:14:20] So who would you like

[00:14:22] To see

[00:14:24] I don't know I mean there's so many great teams

[00:14:26] There I don't mind seeing Colorado

[00:14:28] When I'm used to it I do like them

[00:14:30] They're a solid team they're fun

[00:14:32] I have nothing to no problem with

[00:14:34] Dallas I don't have like a clear favorite

[00:14:36] I just yeah as um

[00:14:38] I can't root for Dallas

[00:14:40] I like the team but I cannot root for them

[00:14:42] Yeah

[00:14:44] I guess I would root for

[00:14:46] For what over there in Colorado

[00:14:48] I guess you know I mean

[00:14:50] I'm not really I would think like

[00:14:52] I would say Florida

[00:14:54] But then I think Florida's gonna be come too good

[00:14:56] Eventually so I don't know I'm gonna go with Colorado

[00:14:58] That's who you want to see win the cup

[00:15:00] Yeah Colorado I guess I mean

[00:15:02] I I I I Edmonton I wouldn't mind seeing

[00:15:04] Because in a way though because I would like

[00:15:06] To see McDavid get that ring because players like that

[00:15:08] You want to see you know have that

[00:15:10] It was a damn Reno back in the day

[00:15:12] That never got a ring or certain guys

[00:15:14] And I think you know you'd like to see McDavid

[00:15:16] Get one you'd like to see Matthews get one

[00:15:18] So I don't want to see Matthews

[00:15:20] Ever get one unless he's playing for

[00:15:22] Another team I don't ever want to see Toronto

[00:15:24] Win I just love watching Toronto lose

[00:15:26] In the first round

[00:15:28] But for me

[00:15:30] See I don't care about the Canadian teams

[00:15:32] Winning it there are like

[00:15:34] There's a bunch of them this year though

[00:15:36] So you know if you are

[00:15:38] Canada you gotta be excited about the chance right

[00:15:40] And maybe I'd like to see Vancouver

[00:15:42] Do it or at least

[00:15:44] Be in it and then if they lose

[00:15:46] You could watch the whole city burn

[00:15:48] That could be fun

[00:15:50] That was cool so I was there

[00:15:52] That year I was gone when that happened

[00:15:54] I was there for that Boston played him in the playoffs

[00:15:56] That year and we were there so I got

[00:15:58] Married probably like a week or two

[00:16:00] Before that so for our honeymoon we went to

[00:16:02] Like Vegas we went to

[00:16:04] Was that you in that famous picture with the city burning

[00:16:06] No but the hotel we stayed at

[00:16:08] Was probably like two streets over from that

[00:16:10] And it was a very big thing

[00:16:12] Yeah right we left there and I think

[00:16:14] Like maybe a week later that happened

[00:16:16] Yeah because it was Boston

[00:16:18] Vancouver in that series

[00:16:20] Yeah I don't mind seeing Queen get a cup

[00:16:22] A little at least a little bit of a jersey connection

[00:16:24] At some point

[00:16:26] But you know Edmonton for the same reasons

[00:16:28] You just said Tony Conor McDavid deserves a cup

[00:16:30] I mean this guy is too freaking good to not win

[00:16:32] A cup but I'll tell you what it feels like

[00:16:34] It, we'll go over this again

[00:16:36] Right when we do our absolute

[00:16:38] Oh absolutely yeah

[00:16:40] It feels like a Winnipeg Jets type of year

[00:16:42] And not only because they just feel like that

[00:16:44] Tough kind of playoff team that's just

[00:16:46] Going to be able to kind of bounce their way

[00:16:48] Through each round but because

[00:16:50] I'm not going to put the exclamation mark on our season

[00:16:52] When Halifax goes out there

[00:16:54] And wins a Stanley Cup

[00:16:56] At Taya you're right and they are

[00:16:58] Built to play in the playoffs

[00:17:00] They are

[00:17:02] And I think they're going to be a really tough out

[00:17:04] So yeah I can see Winnipeg

[00:17:06] I wouldn't mind Winnipeg Winnipeg

[00:17:08] I wouldn't mind it at all

[00:17:10] Alright well

[00:17:12] There are a couple of things that I want to

[00:17:14] Go over

[00:17:16] You know let's just start with the simple thing

[00:17:18] I want to talk about Jack Hughes real quick

[00:17:20] And

[00:17:22] I don't want to get too in depth with this

[00:17:24] But this is now the second year in a row

[00:17:26] That Jack ended the season

[00:17:28] With injuries alright

[00:17:30] I mean we all know he wasn't 100%

[00:17:32] In that Carolina series

[00:17:34] And said afterwards that you know

[00:17:36] He was going out there and playing

[00:17:38] And probably shouldn't have been

[00:17:40] And I think it was probably doing the same thing

[00:17:42] For the last month of the season this year

[00:17:44] And now you know he's had this successful surgery

[00:17:46] And I do hope that it's all fixed

[00:17:48] But now this is a second year

[00:17:50] In a row that this guy got broken down

[00:17:52] By the end of the year

[00:17:54] So the question is just very simple

[00:17:56] Does that worry you? Or do you think

[00:17:58] This shoulder surgery and if you put

[00:18:00] Maybe some right pieces around him

[00:18:02] That maybe he won't break down

[00:18:04] Because if this team is ever going to win

[00:18:06] A Stanley Cup with this core

[00:18:08] And tack it has to be

[00:18:10] A lot of it has to be Jack Hughes leading

[00:18:12] The charge and

[00:18:14] Does that worry you now?

[00:18:16] We've said a million times his size

[00:18:18] Is worrisome

[00:18:20] And now when you actually look at

[00:18:22] A sample size of two full seasons

[00:18:24] This dude fell apart

[00:18:26] At the end of both of them

[00:18:28] That's going to happen when you don't have

[00:18:30] Anybody to protect anybody for the last two seasons

[00:18:32] Then just the same reason last off season

[00:18:34] What we're saying

[00:18:36] You know we were saying it last off season

[00:18:38] And we're going to say it again this off season

[00:18:40] And it's just you know

[00:18:42] Look at the teams that are going to be competitive

[00:18:44] In the playoffs this year and make these runs

[00:18:46] They're built to protect their guys

[00:18:48] We are

[00:18:50] You know we're definitely not built

[00:18:52] To protect our guys and we haven't been for

[00:18:54] The last two seasons

[00:18:56] Yeah I worries me too Dan

[00:18:58] What do you think? I think that

[00:19:00] You know Jack's going to have to

[00:19:02] Also do what he can

[00:19:04] To

[00:19:06] Mitigate these injuries by the

[00:19:08] Way he plays and that's a tough

[00:19:10] I would just say because you don't want him to play

[00:19:12] Like oh you know I can get injured again

[00:19:14] But and I don't know

[00:19:16] 100% what he can do about it but facts are facts

[00:19:18] He's one of the smallest you know

[00:19:20] Marquis players Marquis players are going to get targeted

[00:19:22] You know Connor McDavid is

[00:19:24] Targeted you know he's

[00:19:26] He's going to take hits better than Jack

[00:19:28] Use sure so this is a problem

[00:19:30] I mean Jack has amazing talent

[00:19:32] He's a fantastic player

[00:19:34] But looking at his

[00:19:36] Size before he even set foot on

[00:19:38] The ice as a pro

[00:19:40] You would be concerned

[00:19:42] With you know his longevity

[00:19:44] Because of his size

[00:19:46] That said there are

[00:19:48] Been guys who have made you know long careers

[00:19:50] But they tend to be you know

[00:19:52] Kind of smart the way they play and

[00:19:54] I'm not saying he's not but

[00:19:56] He's going to have to find a way

[00:19:58] And I think you're right Tony about

[00:20:00] Like we need people to you know

[00:20:02] Not let him be such a I mean the whole team

[00:20:04] Has been an easy target right so

[00:20:06] That's been a situation that should be

[00:20:08] Improved but even still I think he's going to

[00:20:10] Have his challenges and I am concerned

[00:20:12] About him having a good long career

[00:20:14] About him you know making it through

[00:20:16] A season and then like a playoff run

[00:20:19] Where you really want him right

[00:20:21] You know uninjured enough

[00:20:23] To contribute the way he can

[00:20:25] So I mean that's unfortunate I don't know

[00:20:27] What we're going to see hopefully

[00:20:29] You'll see something better than this

[00:20:31] Bob anything you want throwing

[00:20:33] Yeah I mean listen it's logical

[00:20:38] To be concerned based on what we've seen

[00:20:40] The last two years for sure but this does

[00:20:42] Sound like a situation where

[00:20:44] Just the way that his shoulder is

[00:20:46] Developed and the fact that it wasn't

[00:20:48] Surgically repaired last year and

[00:20:50] Probably could have been I guess

[00:20:52] From what I'm hearing I mean this is

[00:20:54] Going to make it better than it was

[00:20:56] Coming into this year it's kind of

[00:20:58] Like saying you know it just his anatomy

[00:21:00] Might have just had a you know

[00:21:02] A portion of the shoulder and that

[00:21:05] Can be maybe corrected or at least bring

[00:21:07] It up to average whatever you know

[00:21:09] Obviously I'm not a doctor but I just

[00:21:11] Feel like this is really something

[00:21:13] That they're going to get taken

[00:21:15] Care of now and other than

[00:21:17] My remembering his knee too did that

[00:21:19] Happened this year did he have an

[00:21:21] Issue with the knee and one of those

[00:21:23] Things that just looked like remember

[00:21:25] That one last year looked like his knee

[00:21:27] But it ended up being his shoulder

[00:21:29] You know and I hope the surgery

[00:21:32] Corrects this problem moving forward

[00:21:34] Yeah maybe bobs on to something that's

[00:21:36] That would be great you know surgical fix

[00:21:38] But I also look at Jesper Bratt

[00:21:40] Who is basically the same size

[00:21:42] And this too manages to stay healthy

[00:21:44] Which makes me worry just of Jack's

[00:21:46] Body in general and I just hope

[00:21:48] That this guy can get himself

[00:21:50] Maybe it has to change his style

[00:21:52] A little bit maybe again what Tony

[00:21:54] Said getting somebody in here

[00:21:56] That can play with him and

[00:21:58] Kind of give him that you know

[00:22:00] Insulate him a little bit from

[00:22:02] Those bigger hits which

[00:22:04] Is brings us to our next segment

[00:22:06] Chris can I say something too

[00:22:08] Of course you can if you look

[00:22:10] If you look at like all the players

[00:22:11] That we've watched you the last 20 or

[00:22:13] Something years the guys who are

[00:22:15] Superstars they usually the teams

[00:22:17] Provide them with guys to play

[00:22:19] With where they only have to worry

[00:22:21] About scoring goals and worry about

[00:22:23] Doing these things not have to worry

[00:22:25] About 15 other things on the ice

[00:22:27] You know you look at the

[00:22:29] All those guys there's always

[00:22:31] Someone on there with them to

[00:22:33] Kind of like you know what was it

[00:22:35] I think Gresky had McSorley go

[00:22:37] With him for years wherever he went

[00:22:39] You know because that was how

[00:22:41] You kind of padded your star player

[00:22:43] So they only have to worry about

[00:22:45] Production on the ice and I think

[00:22:47] With this team in the last I

[00:22:49] Would say the last three seasons

[00:22:51] We haven't he's jacked out of

[00:22:53] Worry probably about more than

[00:22:55] If you really look at it he hasn't

[00:22:57] We haven't had those guys on this team

[00:22:59] To let our guys be able to fly up

[00:23:01] The ice and play because you play

[00:23:03] The Rangers you play the forever you play

[00:23:05] They know that you could pretty much go

[00:23:07] After one or two guys on this team

[00:23:09] To change the devil's game completely

[00:23:11] And you know jack is probably

[00:23:13] Out of all of our guys

[00:23:15] Probably had the biggest

[00:23:17] Mix mixture of players playing

[00:23:19] With him over anybody else like

[00:23:21] He's constantly on lines with

[00:23:23] Different guys and I think maybe

[00:23:25] Some of that is just trying to

[00:23:27] Get offense but maybe you know let's

[00:23:29] Try and see if this Lazar works

[00:23:31] Up there with kind of protecting him

[00:23:33] But the one guy right

[00:23:35] The one dude that

[00:23:37] We have been talking about for months

[00:23:39] That we've you know on this podcast

[00:23:41] On the website where we've written

[00:23:43] Articles about it and said

[00:23:45] Absolutely

[00:23:47] Do what you can to

[00:23:49] Get Brady Kutchuk out of Ottawa

[00:23:51] And now maybe everybody's

[00:23:53] Kind of catching up a little bit and there's some rumblings

[00:23:55] Now that maybe Ottawa is

[00:23:57] Interested in possibly

[00:23:59] Trading Brady Kutchuk

[00:24:01] Now Brady Kutchuk is

[00:24:03] He makes

[00:24:05] 8,205,000

[00:24:07] Dollars a year

[00:24:09] That's his AAV

[00:24:11] He is a UFA after the

[00:24:13] 27-28 season

[00:24:15] So if you trade for Brady Kutchuk

[00:24:17] He's got term

[00:24:19] Pucks and pitchforks had put an article out

[00:24:21] A day or two ago

[00:24:23] With these possible trade scenarios

[00:24:25] They only put the re-up

[00:24:27] I just burned down I want to just throw

[00:24:29] Them at you guys and say just yes

[00:24:31] No or maybe

[00:24:33] Possibly whatever

[00:24:35] The first one he had was a straight up

[00:24:37] Trade one for one

[00:24:39] Niko Heesher for Brady Kutchuk

[00:24:41] I am a firm

[00:24:43] Absolutely not, not even for Brady Kutchuk

[00:24:45] Does anyone else feel differently about that?

[00:24:47] No, I did read this as well

[00:24:49] And my first reaction to

[00:24:51] That trade is I went back

[00:24:53] And read it again

[00:24:55] Like did I literally just see this?

[00:24:57] So no, that's a no for me

[00:24:59] Initially it was a no

[00:25:01] And then I had to stop and think about it

[00:25:03] Like okay there are worse things in the world

[00:25:05] But still I come back to know

[00:25:07] I had to think about it

[00:25:09] Yeah, I didn't

[00:25:11] I didn't even read what he wrote after that

[00:25:13] I was like nope that's fucking bullshit

[00:25:15] Tony?

[00:25:17] Yeah I'm going to say no also

[00:25:19] So his second trade option

[00:25:21] Is Brady Kutchuk for Dawson Mercer

[00:25:23] And this year's first round pick

[00:25:25] Keep in mind

[00:25:27] This year's first round pick is a top 10 pick

[00:25:29] It's a high pick now, yeah

[00:25:31] And it does have potential to

[00:25:33] Maybe become a lot better

[00:25:35] Than just a top 10 pick

[00:25:37] So that's a nice pick for them

[00:25:39] So Dawson Mercer for the

[00:25:41] 24th first round pick

[00:25:43] Tony you go first

[00:25:45] I'm going to say yes because

[00:25:47] We've said it many times

[00:25:49] I'd rather have a proven guy coming in

[00:25:51] Than hope because we've had a lot of hope

[00:25:53] For the last bunch of years

[00:25:55] With Kutchuk you know what you're getting

[00:25:57] I think Kutchuk can change around this team

[00:25:59] Like overnight

[00:26:01] He would probably be

[00:26:03] If I think about even more than a

[00:26:05] Goal tender I'm going to say

[00:26:07] He would probably be the best acquisition

[00:26:09] We can make during the off season

[00:26:11] 100% Tony

[00:26:13] How about you Dan Mercer and this year's first

[00:26:15] It's a high price but it's

[00:26:17] One you have to do

[00:26:19] It is definitely one you have to do

[00:26:21] You're not likely to get anybody

[00:26:23] Else of his caliber any other way

[00:26:25] So I don't see how you

[00:26:27] Can't make that move

[00:26:29] Like you said that pick is

[00:26:31] Not nothing, that's a good pick

[00:26:33] And you know

[00:26:35] How we felt about Mercer, yeah

[00:26:37] He dropped off this season a little bit

[00:26:39] He's confident he's going to have a great career

[00:26:41] And they might bite us

[00:26:43] In the ass that we got rid of him at some point

[00:26:45] But Kutchuk I think you have to

[00:26:47] There's no doubt about it

[00:26:49] And Dan I'm going to say

[00:26:51] I definitely like Mercer but now I'm wondering

[00:26:53] If he's going to have a great career or a good career

[00:26:55] And that's kind of where I'm at with him

[00:26:57] I'm kind of undecided like I really like him

[00:26:59] But I don't know if there's a great

[00:27:01] Yeah that's legit

[00:27:03] Mercer may have a great career if he goes

[00:27:05] To a place where he's the only Mercer type player

[00:27:07] Similar smaller skilled players

[00:27:09] So it really could depend on where he winds up

[00:27:11] Would you do that trade?

[00:27:13] Me? Yeah you

[00:27:15] Well I mean first of all

[00:27:17] I don't think we have the three four years

[00:27:19] To wait around for a first round pick

[00:27:21] To blossom even if it's generational

[00:27:23] Like even Jack Hughes

[00:27:25] Right who's obviously

[00:27:27] He didn't really start applying himself

[00:27:29] As Jack Hughes till year three

[00:27:31] So considering this first round pick

[00:27:33] Is likely going to be somebody of a lesser quality

[00:27:35] Than Jack Hughes you're looking at

[00:27:37] Three four years before you're really seeing

[00:27:39] Most likely unless it's a top one two three

[00:27:41] Pick but again even then Jack Hughes was

[00:27:43] Number one and year three was when we really

[00:27:45] Started to see what this kid could become

[00:27:47] So for that I take it we don't have

[00:27:49] Four years I definitely take it

[00:27:51] Maybe somebody can answer this for me

[00:27:53] Because I don't know the answer is

[00:27:55] The draft before free agency

[00:27:57] Or is free agency before the draft

[00:27:59] Does anyone know?

[00:28:01] Do not know

[00:28:03] Try to look up

[00:28:05] I think the draft is free agency

[00:28:07] The draft is first and the frequency is

[00:28:09] July right?

[00:28:11] Yeah I think so

[00:28:13] Yeah if you don't mind telling that would be great

[00:28:15] Now

[00:28:17] We do have a three and a half percent chance

[00:28:19] Of winning that draft lottery

[00:28:21] Now if we know beforehand

[00:28:23] That we have that number one pick

[00:28:25] I take Max Celebrini

[00:28:27] And maybe I don't move away from

[00:28:29] You know

[00:28:31] Move on to Brady Kachuk

[00:28:33] Just yet only because Max Celebrini

[00:28:35] And I don't know a ton about him

[00:28:37] But this dude is supposed to be

[00:28:39] Yeah the draft it's really close

[00:28:41] Guys starting to 28th 29th

[00:28:43] Is the draft and then the first

[00:28:45] Is free agency

[00:28:47] So you will know

[00:28:49] And look we only have a three and a half

[00:28:51] Percent chance but Max Celebrini

[00:28:53] Is only 17 years old

[00:28:55] He'll turn 18 on June 13th

[00:28:57] He's six foot 190 pounds

[00:28:59] Look at these numbers

[00:29:01] In 2223

[00:29:03] For the USHL Chicago

[00:29:05] Steel Max Celebrini plays

[00:29:07] 50 games he had

[00:29:09] 46 goals 40 assists

[00:29:11] 86 points

[00:29:13] 62 penalty minutes and a

[00:29:15] Plus 27 in 50 games

[00:29:17] Then in

[00:29:19] 2324 this year at Boston

[00:29:21] University

[00:29:23] He's played 38 games

[00:29:25] 32 goals

[00:29:27] 32 assists for 64 points

[00:29:29] 18 penalty minutes

[00:29:31] And a plus 25

[00:29:33] In the world juniors this year

[00:29:35] He played five games because Canada got

[00:29:37] Bounced early four goals

[00:29:39] Four assists and a plus five

[00:29:41] Just in those games

[00:29:43] This guy is like if he plays an

[00:29:45] 82 game the way this

[00:29:47] Goes 82 game regular season

[00:29:49] This guy scores 75 goals

[00:29:51] I know that's crazy but I'm just saying

[00:29:53] Like he's generational

[00:29:55] I think I would have pause if you

[00:29:57] Have that first pick

[00:29:59] Is he a center or a win?

[00:30:01] Center

[00:30:03] Of late this show included

[00:30:05] Has really kind of moved forward with the idea

[00:30:07] Of getting a center for Jack

[00:30:09] Which is another topic we need to discuss

[00:30:11] We started that

[00:30:13] Yeah we should

[00:30:15] Still don't know if that's the way to go but yeah

[00:30:17] That would definitely give me pause because if we knew

[00:30:19] For a fact it was him then talk to me then

[00:30:21] Because there's probably a way you could

[00:30:23] That were actually what it took to get him

[00:30:25] Which I don't think they're going to want more

[00:30:27] But if they wanted the equivalent of

[00:30:29] More of an average top ten

[00:30:31] Pick kind of Dawson Mercer

[00:30:33] I think there's a way to tweak that

[00:30:35] And still get it without giving up that guy

[00:30:37] Now the third one

[00:30:39] And I think this is the one that we might get

[00:30:41] A little bit of disagreement on

[00:30:43] Brady Kutchuk

[00:30:45] For Shimon Nemitz

[00:30:47] And this year's third round pick

[00:30:49] So a round three pick

[00:30:51] Which you could basically wipe your ass with

[00:30:53] Shimon Nemitz

[00:30:55] For Brady Kutchuk

[00:30:57] I'll start this one

[00:30:59] I would absolutely do this

[00:31:01] I know that Shimon Nemitz is going to be

[00:31:03] A very good player in this league

[00:31:05] But again Brady Kutchuk

[00:31:07] Tony said it proven

[00:31:09] You know what you're getting

[00:31:11] With Brady Kutchuk and what he brings

[00:31:13] Is something that this team

[00:31:15] Is so desperate for

[00:31:17] I mean he is a glass of water

[00:31:19] In the fucking desert

[00:31:21] This guy can change the entire

[00:31:23] Complexion of this team from day one

[00:31:25] So I say yes a third round pick

[00:31:27] And Shimon Nemitz for Brady Kutchuk

[00:31:29] What do you guys think? Bobby you go

[00:31:31] I had a real tough time with this one

[00:31:33] I think if we didn't have

[00:31:35] Luke Hughes

[00:31:37] This is not even brought up in conversation

[00:31:39] But we do have him

[00:31:41] And we have Hamilton

[00:31:43] And two of players of that caliber

[00:31:45] Is a boon on any team

[00:31:47] And we have three

[00:31:49] And I've gone on record to say

[00:31:51] Is Nemitz going to be our best defenseman

[00:31:53] In the next couple of years

[00:31:55] So this is not without some serious concern

[00:31:57] But

[00:31:59] I would lean towards

[00:32:01] Yes because I think we can

[00:32:03] Fulfill the role

[00:32:05] In a different way

[00:32:07] From Nemitz with other types of players

[00:32:09] And I'm still a big fan of the

[00:32:11] Offensive defenseman with the defensive defenseman

[00:32:13] And I don't need a ton of big names there

[00:32:15] When I look at that forward group

[00:32:17] Brady Kutchuk

[00:32:19] I'll lean towards yes

[00:32:21] But I'm not a hard yes

[00:32:23] Dan? I think he might be the only player

[00:32:25] That is even

[00:32:27] Possibly going to be up for grabs

[00:32:29] That we would get rid of the defense for

[00:32:31] And it's not easy

[00:32:33] It's not a fun thing

[00:32:35] To lose him because

[00:32:37] I think there's no doubt he's going to have a great NHL career

[00:32:39] And

[00:32:41] Might even be winning the Norris Trophy

[00:32:43] Multiple years

[00:32:45] That kind of a career is very possible

[00:32:47] I don't like to do it

[00:32:49] But yeah

[00:32:51] I agree wholeheartedly that we're not likely

[00:32:53] To get a better

[00:32:55] Fit for what this team needs

[00:32:57] Out there on the marketplace

[00:32:59] I'll say not even this year but like any year

[00:33:01] It's very hard

[00:33:03] To get that kind of guy

[00:33:05] There might be other ways to go

[00:33:07] Where you get hard nose players

[00:33:09] Like a slightly different caliber

[00:33:11] And you plug them in and you make things work

[00:33:13] But I don't think it's an opportunity

[00:33:15] You could pass by

[00:33:17] I don't know how viable these trades are

[00:33:19] But I think he would have to do that

[00:33:21] I mean I would assume they're going to want

[00:33:23] Like all of the above what we just said

[00:33:25] Which you can't do

[00:33:27] That would be horrible

[00:33:29] Thone?

[00:33:31] I would do it

[00:33:33] I hate to see Nemitz go

[00:33:35] I like him it's a lot

[00:33:37] I think the only untouchable guys on the team

[00:33:39] To me are probably Luke, Jack and Niko

[00:33:41] Guys I don't want to see

[00:33:43] Get moved at all

[00:33:45] I do like Nemitz

[00:33:47] Bobby you mentioned Hamilton

[00:33:49] I'm not even sold on Hamilton

[00:33:51] I think he was

[00:33:53] We missed him for the points this year

[00:33:55] But defensive wise

[00:33:57] To me that Nemitz is the brightest thing

[00:33:59] Back there

[00:34:01] I don't hate Hamilton

[00:34:03] I remember this season

[00:34:05] When he was healthy

[00:34:07] There were issues back there

[00:34:09] With Dougie

[00:34:11] I don't think you're the only one that thinks that way

[00:34:13] I'm hoping that

[00:34:15] Dougie Hamilton has a better season

[00:34:17] Than he did, I know he was out

[00:34:19] But the 20 something games that he did play

[00:34:21] Yeah he was struggling defensively

[00:34:23] So again

[00:34:25] Pair him up with Gogan

[00:34:27] A good veteran

[00:34:29] A little slightly above league average

[00:34:31] Stay at home dude to play with Dougie

[00:34:33] And let Doug Hamilton do what he does

[00:34:35] On the offense

[00:34:37] Literally you could have penciled him

[00:34:39] In for like five game winning goals

[00:34:41] This year which God knows what kind of difference

[00:34:43] That would have made. We know he's a defensive liability

[00:34:45] At times but he does re-slot

[00:34:47] Everybody down the line

[00:34:49] And then maybe we don't even see Nemitz

[00:34:51] And then we just leave it to all the hockey guys

[00:34:53] That know more than us about that trade

[00:34:55] And we're like ah he probably would have been really good

[00:34:57] But you know he's just a prospect at this point

[00:34:59] Yeah see that's the biggest thing

[00:35:01] And he's not a prospect

[00:35:03] Brady Kitchuck is proven

[00:35:05] And I'm sure Brady Kitchuck wants to make the playoffs

[00:35:07] And you know he wants to go on a run

[00:35:09] Ottawa is

[00:35:11] You're not talking about a rental situation as you said

[00:35:13] You got him locked up through 27

[00:35:15] We keep saying about our core locked up for eight years

[00:35:17] Guess what we just lost one of them

[00:35:19] And then the core is seven years

[00:35:21] And you get four years of Brady Kitchuck in there

[00:35:23] Brady Kitchuck changes the locker room too

[00:35:25] He changes off the ice

[00:35:27] He changes so much the guys so fiery

[00:35:29] And he's got his dad around the team

[00:35:31] There's just a lot of things going on with him

[00:35:33] That's just a lot of pluses in my mind

[00:35:35] He is a guy that you can add to the team

[00:35:37] And see a difference immediately

[00:35:39] Can you think of one reason

[00:35:41] Why we shouldn't get Brady Kitchuck

[00:35:43] On this team? I can't think of one single reason

[00:35:45] Ottawa was picking the tires

[00:35:47] On trading them too I heard

[00:35:49] They were looking at it a little bit

[00:35:51] See what the market was

[00:35:53] And look if you're Ottawa

[00:35:55] I mean if I was an Ottawa fan

[00:35:57] And you traded Brady Kitchuck

[00:35:59] I would be very very upset

[00:36:01] I'd be very disappointed because to me

[00:36:03] As a fan when you have

[00:36:05] They went into this year hoping to

[00:36:07] Kind of our mindset last year

[00:36:09] Play meaningful hockey at the end

[00:36:11] Maybe you get into the playoffs

[00:36:13] Things didn't work out with that team at all

[00:36:15] And

[00:36:17] But as a fan you're like

[00:36:19] But we have Brady Kitchuck and we have a few pieces

[00:36:21] Build around it

[00:36:23] And if you go and get rid of Brady Kitchuck

[00:36:25] And we're going to rebuild

[00:36:27] And for a fan that's tough to deal with

[00:36:29] Now it might not work out that way because

[00:36:31] They might just

[00:36:33] They might be looking at us saying yes he's one player

[00:36:35] But with that one player we can get

[00:36:37] Two maybe three players that can help build

[00:36:39] Our lineup up

[00:36:41] And make us a little bit more level

[00:36:43] And deep and consistent

[00:36:45] So I could see both sides

[00:36:47] That's what I'm worried about

[00:36:49] All these trades we're proposing

[00:36:51] We're not giving two or three big name players

[00:36:53] To Ottawa

[00:36:55] What's it going to take to get rid of him

[00:36:57] To cut him loose where you can justify that

[00:36:59] Throw Alex Holts in there

[00:37:01] And just you know that's fine

[00:37:03] Just throw Holts in there

[00:37:05] I think you're giving up two first rounds too

[00:37:07] I think you're actually going to say to yourself

[00:37:09] Hey I'm going to have to give up Mercer

[00:37:11] And this year's first round and next year's first round

[00:37:13] I do believe that's boss going to take that

[00:37:15] And you know what though

[00:37:17] If you think that next year

[00:37:19] You're going to especially whip Brady Kitchuck

[00:37:21] That's a late first round pick

[00:37:23] You probably don't mind doing it

[00:37:25] This year's first round though

[00:37:27] Has potential to be something

[00:37:29] That if the devils somehow won this draft lottery

[00:37:31] And somehow got themselves

[00:37:33] Max Celebrini

[00:37:35] Could you imagine three picks

[00:37:37] In the seven years

[00:37:39] Number one picks and Nico Heescher

[00:37:41] Max Celebrini and Jack Hughes

[00:37:43] Like that's crazy

[00:37:45] I mean that would just be awesome

[00:37:47] So I can't think of another player

[00:37:49] That opportunity up four

[00:37:51] Maybe in some deal for Mark Strim

[00:37:53] Or you know

[00:37:55] That's about it

[00:37:57] We'll talk about bullies after the devil

[00:37:59] What was that Tom?

[00:38:01] What's weird too is last year I was pretty excited

[00:38:03] Because I was like well we are going to be like

[00:38:05] If I'm a free agent now I'm looking at New Jersey

[00:38:07] And I'm like okay this is a place that

[00:38:09] You know basically like the real estate

[00:38:11] Was definitely looking a little bit better

[00:38:13] In the devils camp last year

[00:38:15] Now I'm just wondering like this off season

[00:38:17] Like what are you guys who are like

[00:38:19] What am I going to because the devils are so

[00:38:21] Jekyll and Hyde that I don't even know

[00:38:23] What we are really until next season

[00:38:25] Do you think that NHL players though

[00:38:27] Really think of that or do you think they look at the team

[00:38:29] And they're like yeah it's all what they did last year

[00:38:31] Look at all the studs that they have up there

[00:38:33] Like I just want to be able to play with these guys

[00:38:35] Like if I can play with Jack Hughes

[00:38:37] And Jesper Bratt and Timo Meyer

[00:38:39] Like my numbers can go up and so

[00:38:41] I'm wondering how much that really

[00:38:43] I do actually think so

[00:38:45] That has any kind of you know

[00:38:47] Decent hockey mind still looks at the devils

[00:38:49] And says you know they're very dangerous

[00:38:51] If they do the right moves and they come back

[00:38:53] Next year they're going to be very dangerous

[00:38:55] So I think if you're a free agent you're also saying

[00:38:57] Am I going to go to a team that's

[00:38:59] Going to give us the assets during the trade

[00:39:01] Denline that we're going to need to make that next

[00:39:03] Step. I think especially if you're

[00:39:05] Older especially if you're what we need

[00:39:07] I think is a veteran established

[00:39:09] Player you know some of these guys want

[00:39:11] To win and I'm sure in the back of their

[00:39:13] Mind I mean didn't we see it what's his name

[00:39:15] Shaten Kirk a couple years ago where the devils

[00:39:17] Wanted him and he went to the Rangers instead

[00:39:19] Like you know did that whole kind of did

[00:39:21] That whole kind of bullshit

[00:39:23] So I think you know I'm sure

[00:39:25] That plays in the older players who want

[00:39:27] To win's had a little bit and it's not saying

[00:39:29] That the devils aren't a great place to go

[00:39:31] It's just now you have to wonder like

[00:39:33] Well they needed a goal tender they didn't

[00:39:35] Go get it like you know you look at

[00:39:37] Other organizations they pretty much go make

[00:39:39] That move you think. And Brady Kachuk

[00:39:41] Married a Jersey girl right got married

[00:39:43] Here in Jersey as related

[00:39:45] As related to Fitzgerald

[00:39:47] So you know I think the devils might

[00:39:49] Have the inside track if you know

[00:39:51] For a place if Brady gets to at least

[00:39:53] Decide I don't know if he has a no trade clause

[00:39:55] Or nothing but you know to decide

[00:39:57] I think maybe we might have the inside

[00:39:59] Track on that especially with his wife

[00:40:01] Being a Jersey girl and I'm sure he wants

[00:40:03] That Ottawa I mean I'm sure like you know

[00:40:05] In a way there's a part of him that

[00:40:07] That does one out of there because

[00:40:09] The question marks about also there another one

[00:40:11] You're right a lot more than we have

[00:40:13] Yeah so all right before we do

[00:41:29] On the Uncle Pucker New Jersey

[00:41:31] Devil Podcast

[00:41:33] The most fun interactive game

[00:41:35] In devil podcast history

[00:41:37] It's the devil you know

[00:41:39] The best intro

[00:41:41] Dan tonight is going to give us clues

[00:41:43] For a former New Jersey devil player

[00:41:45] The three of us

[00:41:47] Get three incorrect guesses

[00:41:49] Before we are on the show

[00:41:51] We're going to do a little bit of

[00:41:53] Three incorrect guesses before we are eliminated

[00:41:55] We can ask Dan any question we want

[00:41:57] He can or cannot answer it

[00:41:59] It's completely up to him

[00:42:01] So Danny whenever you're ready brother

[00:42:03] Okay so I just want to preface this

[00:42:05] By saying this is a tough one

[00:42:07] Now like kind of on the fly

[00:42:09] Because I made a mistake I had to pick

[00:42:11] While I was at pick one that was a player

[00:42:13] I only played seven games with the devils

[00:42:15] And you might

[00:42:17] You might get a little upset if I tell you

[00:42:19] That my first clue is this

[00:42:21] Former devil officially has

[00:42:23] Fourteen games with the team

[00:42:25] But I think

[00:42:27] When you see

[00:42:29] When you find out who it is

[00:42:31] You're going to say

[00:42:33] Now it's totally legit I could be wrong

[00:42:35] But I wanted to preface this and tell you that

[00:42:37] Yes it's tough

[00:42:39] But that's a good reason for this

[00:42:41] So we'll see

[00:42:43] So yeah he did play

[00:42:45] Fourteen games with the devils in two different stints

[00:42:47] Okay one much longer than the others

[00:42:49] Or more games than the others

[00:42:51] Hey much longer

[00:42:53] Yeah

[00:42:55] He's more

[00:42:57] Literally

[00:42:59] He doesn't have a huge career although he did play

[00:43:01] Four NHL teams over the course of six years

[00:43:03] Okay

[00:43:05] Alright

[00:43:07] Little

[00:43:09] You know youth story about this player

[00:43:11] He did not start playing until age seven

[00:43:13] Which is kind of late for

[00:43:15] A NHL player

[00:43:17] But the reason was he was afraid of getting

[00:43:19] Body checked

[00:43:21] He was reassured by his

[00:43:23] No not check use

[00:43:25] Reassured by his parents that

[00:43:27] He would not get hit in minor hockey

[00:43:29] So he began playing

[00:43:31] As a forward at the age of seven

[00:43:35] Okay

[00:43:39] First team ever played with

[00:43:41] Pro NHL team

[00:43:43] Was Montreal

[00:43:45] But he was undrafted

[00:43:47] Prior to that

[00:43:49] He had a stellar collegiate career

[00:43:51] Played with Brown University

[00:43:53] Won an Ivy League player of the year award for them

[00:43:55] As well as

[00:43:57] A Hobie Baker award finalist

[00:43:59] The American Dan

[00:44:01] I know this

[00:44:03] He is born

[00:44:05] In Canada

[00:44:07] And Quebec

[00:44:09] To be exact

[00:44:11] Bob you have a guess

[00:44:13] All these points are actually

[00:44:15] Like

[00:44:17] These are really good points I can't remember who it is

[00:44:19] Brown University is up in your neck at awards

[00:44:21] I know

[00:44:23] Six foot

[00:44:25] Shoots

[00:44:27] Left

[00:44:31] And let's see

[00:44:33] Not a winger

[00:44:35] Not a defenseman

[00:44:37] Or center

[00:44:39] Not a defenseman

[00:44:41] He started playing

[00:44:43] Forward at the age of seven

[00:44:45] You did assume

[00:44:47] You know what happens when you assume

[00:44:49] You say a hundred and five pounds

[00:44:51] He was with the devils

[00:44:53] He was in two separate years

[00:44:55] And they were six years apart

[00:44:57] Are you going to give us the years?

[00:44:59] The first time he was with the devil

[00:45:01] Is 2009

[00:45:05] So in 2009

[00:45:07] Then it came back in 2015

[00:45:09] Incorrect

[00:45:11] That's not a defenseman

[00:45:13] He didn't say he was a defenseman

[00:45:15] He was a defenseman

[00:45:17] Oh not a defenseman

[00:45:19] He didn't say

[00:45:21] Not a forward

[00:45:23] The team

[00:45:25] Here's another clue

[00:45:27] The team he came from

[00:45:29] Prior to being with us

[00:45:31] Was the New York Islanders

[00:45:33] In fact all throughout training camp

[00:45:35] He had to

[00:45:37] Get the Islanders logo on his mask

[00:45:39] Couldn't get a mask even during the first

[00:45:41] Game or two he had to wear a cape over

[00:45:43] It was a golly

[00:45:45] In 2015

[00:45:47] Can Cade

[00:45:49] No

[00:45:51] But I believe he might have been there

[00:45:53] The same year

[00:45:55] Because his first stint

[00:45:57] Cade wasn't there

[00:45:59] But the second one he might have been

[00:46:01] Play with the islanders

[00:46:03] Left and came back to the devils

[00:46:05] He did finish his career with

[00:46:07] The islanders

[00:46:09] Edmonton I'll double check that

[00:46:11] And he only played 14 games in the league

[00:46:13] No 14 with us

[00:46:15] 14 with the devils

[00:46:17] I can give you his league stats if you like

[00:46:19] Real quick yes I do want those

[00:46:21] But is he still playing

[00:46:23] No he officially retired

[00:46:25] In 2018

[00:46:27] And

[00:46:29] I'm not sure if that was from

[00:46:31] I doubt that was from an NHL team

[00:46:33] I don't even know what his last NHL team was

[00:46:35] And whether it was career stats

[00:46:37] Alright

[00:46:39] His career stats we're getting to that

[00:46:41] Hmm

[00:46:43] It's come

[00:46:45] It's come

[00:46:47] I can't think

[00:46:49] If it's a golly

[00:46:51] I can't think of any islander that played

[00:46:53] 14 games with us

[00:46:55] In two different stints

[00:46:57] Yeah first one 12 games

[00:46:59] And it's actually like

[00:47:01] With goleys it's actually more minutes than that

[00:47:05] It depends on how they count them

[00:47:07] But yeah

[00:47:09] When you're backing up Marty Broder

[00:47:11] You're not going to play a lot

[00:47:13] Especially those years

[00:47:15] Later on his second stint

[00:47:17] Broder was not playing as much

[00:47:19] But

[00:47:21] His first one definitely

[00:47:23] So his career stats

[00:47:25] Let's see

[00:47:27] 17 wins

[00:47:29] 22 losses

[00:47:31] 4 ties

[00:47:33] 2, 7, 9

[00:47:35] Goals against

[00:47:37] 9, 0, 8 save percentage

[00:47:39] Did he play with Tampa? No he did not

[00:47:41] His last

[00:47:43] His last stint with the devils was

[00:47:45] His last

[00:47:47] Pro team so my bad on that

[00:47:49] Prior to that between his years with the devils

[00:47:51] He's with Edmonton and he didn't always play with the big club

[00:47:53] Oh my god

[00:47:55] Who the hell is this?

[00:47:57] He played for the Sound Tigers or whatever the hell they call

[00:47:59] Their Bridgeport team I can't remember

[00:48:01] Who the hell is this?

[00:48:03] Yeah I know and I was like

[00:48:05] Oh shit I almost forgot he existed

[00:48:07] But you know what he spent so many games on the bench

[00:48:09] I feel like this is fair game we should know this

[00:48:11] What the hell was his name?

[00:48:13] Yeah well if I tell you that

[00:48:15] It kind of ruins the game

[00:48:17] Did he have a nickname?

[00:48:19] I don't remember a nickname for this dude

[00:48:21] It's not Scott Clementson

[00:48:23] No

[00:48:25] No it wasn't Clementson

[00:48:27] I know when I think of all the devils backups

[00:48:29] For Marty

[00:48:31] This has got to be at the bottom of

[00:48:33] Like oh shit I forgot about

[00:48:35] It's not Kincaid

[00:48:37] So I know

[00:48:39] So this guy does have a nickname but I think

[00:48:41] You might be right and I don't know it

[00:48:43] That's possible I forgot it

[00:48:45] He played Bobby so this guy I can't think of as a fucking name

[00:48:47] I'm gonna give you a softball here

[00:48:49] He was the backup goalie I believe

[00:48:51] He played in Sweden to go watch the devils play Edmonton that year

[00:48:53] And he got hurt and then he was done

[00:48:55] Why are you giving yourself a goal?

[00:48:57] Because I can't think of the fucking name

[00:48:59] I can't think of his name

[00:49:01] I know his nickname if I got it right

[00:49:03] That's his face

[00:49:05] Cause it didn't help me

[00:49:07] I don't know

[00:49:09] That's not the good thing I'm thinking of

[00:49:11] Nevermind

[00:49:13] No idea

[00:49:15] It's a tough one

[00:49:17] I do recall his name

[00:49:19] I don't remember a single game of his

[00:49:21] He showed us the picture of him

[00:49:23] I saw the picture

[00:49:25] I don't know who the fuck he is

[00:49:29] No idea

[00:49:31] Let me see if I got any other facts

[00:49:33] I feel like

[00:49:35] These facts won't really help you at this point

[00:49:37] He was

[00:49:39] Undrafted

[00:49:41] He made a deal with Montreal as a college player

[00:49:43] Completely outside the draft

[00:49:45] He came to the devils

[00:49:47] From the islanders

[00:49:49] But as an unrestricted free agent

[00:49:51] He only had UFA deals

[00:49:53] The second time with the devils a two way contract

[00:49:55] He never had a long contract

[00:49:57] Is this a name Dan when we hear it

[00:49:59] We're gonna be like oh my god I should do this

[00:50:01] I don't think so but you're gonna recognize it

[00:50:03] And be like shit

[00:50:05] That is one of Marty's forgotten backups

[00:50:07] What are his career numbers?

[00:50:09] I think those are the ones I gave you

[00:50:11] A second ago let me see

[00:50:13] 17 wins

[00:50:15] 22 losses

[00:50:17] So you know

[00:50:19] 12 of those games were devils

[00:50:21] Out of the 3-9 games

[00:50:23] Plus 4 ties

[00:50:25] So 44-43 games

[00:50:27] Who was the fucking goalie?

[00:50:29] He had 3 shutouts in that time

[00:50:31] Yon something

[00:50:33] Yon Denny

[00:50:35] Yon Denny is correct

[00:50:37] That's Bobby

[00:50:39] I gave him that

[00:50:41] I opened the door

[00:50:43] Wow

[00:50:45] That was nice one Bobby

[00:50:47] I'll split the point with you

[00:50:49] I was like what was his nickname

[00:50:51] I'll be honest with you

[00:50:53] I was thinking

[00:50:55] There was a guy that played

[00:50:57] For them

[00:50:59] He was backing up

[00:51:01] When I was in Emmett's

[00:51:03] He had a nickname like the stalker

[00:51:05] I can't remember

[00:51:07] But Bobby earlier mentioned

[00:51:09] He had a name

[00:51:11] He was the devil's backup

[00:51:13] For 2 or 3 years after

[00:51:15] Yon Denny

[00:51:17] D-A-N-I-S

[00:51:19] N-N

[00:51:21] And then

[00:51:23] D-A-N-I-S

[00:51:25] So when the 3 cups that we won

[00:51:27] 95 the backup

[00:51:29] Was Terrari and the other 2

[00:51:31] Was it Mike Dunham on both?

[00:51:33] I think so

[00:51:35] I think so I can look that up

[00:51:37] But I believe so

[00:51:39] I thought you had a swap

[00:51:41] It might have been

[00:51:43] I don't think we won a cup with Schwab

[00:51:45] I thought Dunham was the guy

[00:51:47] Backing him up both years

[00:51:49] I think Hedberg came in right after our 3rd cup

[00:51:51] Right like 14 or so

[00:51:53] 2004

[00:51:55] So we won it to 2002 and 3 season

[00:51:57] Right? We want to know who the backup was

[00:51:59] Yes

[00:52:01] That was

[00:52:03] Let's see here we go

[00:52:05] 2003 with Schwab

[00:52:07] So we had

[00:52:09] 2003 with Dunham

[00:52:11] 2003 with Schwab

[00:52:13] 2003 with Robin

[00:52:15] Okay so it was Terrari, Dunham and Cory Schwab

[00:52:17] My door just hanging out Stanley Cup rings

[00:52:19] Thank you

[00:52:21] I mean Dan probably could have

[00:52:23] Backed up Brodure back then

[00:52:25] Just about as effectively

[00:52:27] I think he didn't win too many

[00:52:29] I like Cory Schwab though

[00:52:31] He got that fight with Tommy Sotterström

[00:52:33] I remember

[00:52:35] I remember that game

[00:52:37] It was a Sunday afternoon game

[00:52:39] And if you remember we were down

[00:52:41] By two goals and the Islanders

[00:52:43] In the third and the Islanders took

[00:52:45] A major penalty

[00:52:47] And we scored three times in the 5 minute

[00:52:49] Penalty and then

[00:52:51] Sotterström lost his friggin mind

[00:52:53] Over something and Schwab came over

[00:52:55] That was a hell of a fight

[00:52:57] You should go on YouTube

[00:52:59] And look up Cory Schwab

[00:53:01] Versed Tommy Sotterström from the Islanders

[00:53:03] And that fight was a great

[00:53:05] Best goal we've ever seen

[00:53:07] We put that on the Puckers Excerb

[00:53:09] But when it was still Twitter

[00:53:11] Two seasons ago and that was a pretty popular

[00:53:13] Video we put up there

[00:53:15] That was a great one

[00:53:17] Chris, before you move on

[00:53:19] We mentioned Marty Brodure

[00:53:21] I listened to the last episode that I missed

[00:53:23] And you had mentioned that as a hill

[00:53:25] You would die on, you put the gloves on

[00:53:27] To say he's the best goal tender

[00:53:29] And it just got me thinking

[00:53:31] That's what he's wanted to do

[00:53:33] Everyone knows he's got the most career wins

[00:53:35] Regular season with 691

[00:53:37] They also know that most of his career

[00:53:39] He had a lot of ties

[00:53:41] He wasn't in a major part of the shootout

[00:53:43] Where these goals are getting extra wins

[00:53:45] So I was always curious what would he

[00:53:47] Maybe have wound up with

[00:53:49] If he always had a chance to win

[00:53:51] Versus tie

[00:53:53] So I just did a general

[00:53:55] He had 105 ties

[00:53:57] So I went back and I looked at

[00:53:59] The shootout years. I picked five random shootout years

[00:54:01] And saw his winning percentage

[00:54:03] In the shootout

[00:54:05] And it was like

[00:54:07] 78% one year

[00:54:09] 65% the next year

[00:54:11] Better than an average

[00:54:13] Did that five times and then I came out

[00:54:15] With an average of those five

[00:54:17] 68%

[00:54:19] Very thorough

[00:54:21] I love this

[00:54:23] I don't want to oversaturate it

[00:54:25] So I brought it down to a respectable 62%

[00:54:27] You don't know the forward group is going to be in front of them

[00:54:29] And I didn't look at every single year

[00:54:31] I just picked up some of the years

[00:54:33] With a lot of shootout wins

[00:54:35] So if you take those 62%

[00:54:37] That's 62%

[00:54:39] That's roughly 65 more regular season wins

[00:54:43] Which would be

[00:54:45] 756

[00:54:47] With a guy who lost one full year of service

[00:54:49] And two half years of service

[00:54:51] Due to various lockouts

[00:54:53] People always just think of a one

[00:54:55] Lockout

[00:54:57] Two half lockouts

[00:54:59] And a full lockout

[00:55:01] You're talking 900 possible wins

[00:55:03] For this guy

[00:55:05] That's amazing

[00:55:07] When you break it down the way you did

[00:55:09] And actually put the math to it

[00:55:11] It just more affirms

[00:55:13] The fact that he's the greatest f**king goalie

[00:55:15] Ever

[00:55:17] Remember when the shootout first came out

[00:55:19] It seemed like every game went through it

[00:55:21] And we hated it, but the devils did take advantage of that

[00:55:23] And we didn't have the forward group

[00:55:25] It wasn't like the three on three we have now

[00:55:27] Where it's like devils are going three on three

[00:55:29] We usually went up winning

[00:55:31] It would be nice if we got to it more often this year

[00:55:33] So I just finally wanted to do that

[00:55:35] Again, it's just pure approximation

[00:55:37] Doesn't do anything

[00:55:39] But that's nice to know

[00:55:41] I mean I know that people like to argue

[00:55:43] And people love to go back to that

[00:55:45] And we're not, you know, I don't want to get too in the weeds on Brodoor

[00:55:47] But like

[00:55:49] The whole well look at

[00:55:51] The system he played in front of

[00:55:53] And all of that is bullsh**

[00:55:55] Because the bottom line is this guy was so

[00:55:57] Frickin clutch

[00:55:59] Every single year

[00:56:01] It doesn't matter, I mean, yeah

[00:56:03] But you know, what's the average

[00:56:05] Shot song goal

[00:56:07] Nowadays for an average game

[00:56:09] Probably like

[00:56:11] For the devils? No, in general

[00:56:13] I mean like shots on goal

[00:56:15] 30, 35

[00:56:17] Look at Brodoor's

[00:56:19] Career

[00:56:21] I bet you he averaged 30 shots

[00:56:23] Per game

[00:56:25] There were always games where we were

[00:56:27] Of course there were some where we locked

[00:56:29] Them down and we allowed four or five shots

[00:56:31] But throughout the car, you know, a whole season

[00:56:33] I bet it averages out to about 30

[00:56:35] 30 shots a game. Yeah, and when people complain

[00:56:37] You know they're comparing them against in that same era

[00:56:39] There was, you know, like Kujo was

[00:56:41] Facing 50 shots a night and like

[00:56:43] Oh my god, it was amazing

[00:56:45] But you know, like you said

[00:56:47] You know, like you said, there were a lot of guys

[00:56:49] Who were not good in low shot

[00:56:51] Games. It's hard to be

[00:56:53] A low shot specialist because

[00:56:55] You don't get as into the game as physically

[00:56:57] Warmed up and dialed in

[00:56:59] Mentally in a game where you're not seeing

[00:57:01] Constant rubber and case of point

[00:57:03] I'll go back to Curtis Joseph because

[00:57:05] Once we put him, you know, maybe he could just say

[00:57:07] Always pass his prime. I don't think so

[00:57:09] I think he just was not that kind of goalie

[00:57:11] Where he could come in with

[00:57:13] You know, taking a low shot count

[00:57:15] And maybe that clutch guy, he thrived on

[00:57:17] All the rubber and when he went to

[00:57:19] Detroit, it was still

[00:57:21] A pretty damn good team they had there

[00:57:23] He did not find the success that people

[00:57:25] Thought he would. So, Brodor did

[00:57:27] Was special. In any

[00:57:29] Era that I watched hockey

[00:57:31] I would take Brodor over any goalie

[00:57:33] Yeah, I really would

[00:57:35] But I do wonder how you would respond

[00:57:37] To today's game. It's different

[00:57:39] The play between what the rules allow

[00:57:41] And then also

[00:57:43] The equipment. The average player now

[00:57:45] Has a fucking wicked wrist shot

[00:57:47] Because of the sticks and everything else

[00:57:49] Guys who, you know

[00:57:51] When Brodor played there were guys who

[00:57:53] And you can go back through the ages

[00:57:55] You know, go back far enough

[00:57:57] You gotta say Ken Dryden was slouch because

[00:57:59] You know, he was different then

[00:58:01] No, of course not. They were still

[00:58:03] And I just wonder how cool it would have been

[00:58:05] To see him play in his prime against

[00:58:07] Today's players too. I still think he would be dominant

[00:58:09] I agree. I completely agree

[00:58:11] So since we are already discussing

[00:58:13] Goalies, it is time for

[00:58:15] Goalie Watch 24

[00:58:17] Which is going to be something that I think

[00:58:19] We do right up until we actually go

[00:58:21] And get a goalie. So

[00:58:23] Sounds like we need a sounder for that. I know

[00:58:25] I shouldn't make one up. And we have

[00:58:27] So, you know, we have the

[00:58:29] Big four, right? The main four guys

[00:58:31] That I think are on Tom

[00:58:33] Fitzgerald's radar. What's your answer?

[00:58:35] 25 shots on goal against

[00:58:37] Okay, that was close. It's a little bit lower

[00:58:39] Than I thought, but

[00:58:41] Just by three or so. Not every team gets

[00:58:43] Over 30. So yeah

[00:58:45] Not many of these guys are one thing. They think he's out there

[00:58:47] For 15 shots against a game

[00:58:49] Right, exactly. Oh, we always saw 10 shots

[00:58:51] A game. No, he didn't. You know,

[00:58:53] These are mostly people that never watched him

[00:58:55] And they just hear these talking points

[00:58:57] From ranger fans or Iwender fans and stuff

[00:58:59] Like unless you watch this guy

[00:59:01] We watched this guy's career from

[00:59:03] Year one to his last

[00:59:05] And, you know, he was just stellar

[00:59:07] No other word. But now we are going into

[00:59:09] We'll wrap the show up here with goalie talk 24

[00:59:13] So Dan and I discussed the four

[00:59:15] Main guys that we believe are on

[00:59:17] The radar and those are UC Soros

[00:59:19] Lina Solmar, Jacob Marsstrom

[00:59:21] And Lorraine Berswap

[00:59:23] So those four guys

[00:59:25] I just want to get

[00:59:27] Everybody's kind of opinion on

[00:59:29] Who would they rather have

[00:59:31] And you know, there are some other

[00:59:33] Variables that kind of go with

[00:59:35] Each of them. So we'll start with

[00:59:37] UC Soros. So Soros is

[00:59:39] 28 years old

[00:59:41] He gets a 5 million

[00:59:43] AAV a year

[00:59:45] He is a

[00:59:47] Unrestricted free agent after next season

[00:59:49] So the 24-25 season

[00:59:51] He can walk

[00:59:53] Career, UC Soros

[00:59:55] Is 181

[00:59:57] 118

[00:59:59] And 32

[01:00:01] He has 23 shutouts

[01:00:03] Career goals against average of 2.62

[01:00:05] And a career save percentage

[01:00:07] Of 0.917

[01:00:09] In the playoffs

[01:00:11] 917

[01:00:13] 917

[01:00:15] That's his career

[01:00:17] In the playoffs, UC Soros

[01:00:19] Is 10, 3, 7 and 17 games

[01:00:21] He has a 2.63

[01:00:23] Goals again

[01:00:25] So just a teeny little tick above his career

[01:00:27] And a 0.914

[01:00:29] Save percent

[01:00:31] Below his career average

[01:00:33] Now, UC Soros

[01:00:35] Consistent, that's very consistent

[01:00:37] Depending on how you have to game him

[01:00:39] And I love the guy

[01:00:41] I have one major

[01:00:43] Hangup about

[01:00:45] Two of the guys on this list

[01:00:47] And it's UC Soros and Lina Solmark

[01:00:49] And that is that they're both

[01:00:51] Unrestricted free agents after next year

[01:00:53] Yeah, that's huge

[01:00:55] You cannot give away the farm

[01:00:57] For one of these guys without

[01:00:59] Extension already in the works

[01:01:01] You cannot go into

[01:01:03] Next season, because look

[01:01:05] Once the puck drops 90% of players

[01:01:07] Do not want to discuss contract

[01:01:09] Until after the season

[01:01:11] You have way too many variables

[01:01:13] If you're going to go and give up

[01:01:15] A lot for one of these guys

[01:01:17] That they're just going to walk

[01:01:19] After the end of the year

[01:01:21] And that to me is just not a position

[01:01:23] That the devils should put themselves in

[01:01:25] And Tom Fitzgerald, I don't think he would

[01:01:27] But he shouldn't just rest on the laurels

[01:01:29] All I got it done with Team O'Mire last year

[01:01:31] That doesn't mean you're going to get it done

[01:01:33] With somebody else

[01:01:35] So that is the one thing that worries me

[01:01:37] About him and O'Mark

[01:01:39] You've got to get him locked up

[01:01:41] Before the season starts

[01:01:43] With an extension

[01:01:45] And then we go to the second guy

[01:01:47] Which is Lina Solmark again

[01:01:49] A UFA after the 24-25 season

[01:01:51] Lina Solmark is 30 years old

[01:01:53] He has a

[01:01:55] Also like Soros

[01:01:57] A 5 million AAV

[01:01:59] Now keep in mind you got these guys

[01:02:01] For the 5 million AAV for one year

[01:02:03] If you give them the extensions

[01:02:05] They're going to get raises

[01:02:07] So you've got to keep that in mind

[01:02:09] None of these guys that I'm going to mention

[01:02:11] Have long playoffs

[01:02:13] We'll see how Lina Solmark does this year

[01:02:15] His career he's 137

[01:02:17] 72

[01:02:19] And 23

[01:02:21] And I think that number gets really

[01:02:23] From last year's Bruins team that just didn't lose

[01:02:25] So you know you've got a ton of those

[01:02:27] He has 8 shutouts in his career

[01:02:29] He has a career 2.51 goals against

[01:02:31] And a 0.919 save percentage

[01:02:33] In the playoffs

[01:02:35] He's 3-5

[01:02:37] Were you going to say something Dan?

[01:02:39] You're muted so we can't hear you

[01:02:41] So I almost identical save percentage

[01:02:43] He has a

[01:02:45] 3-5 in the playoffs

[01:02:47] A losing record

[01:02:49] A 3-5-4 goal

[01:02:51] In the postseason

[01:02:53] And a 0.888 save percentage

[01:02:55] That's nice

[01:02:57] Well that playoffs last year is what tanked that

[01:02:59] Exactly

[01:03:01] Then we go to Jacob Markstrom

[01:03:03] I'm so jaded

[01:03:05] I have to say

[01:03:07] I'm even looking at these GA's of like 2-6

[01:03:09] 2-5 and I'm like

[01:03:11] 1.982.02

[01:03:13] This screams to me like inefficient

[01:03:15] And this is just today's

[01:03:17] I don't see a number that starts with 2

[01:03:19] Now Jacob Markstrom

[01:03:21] Is 34 years old

[01:03:23] He has a

[01:03:25] 6 million dollar AAV

[01:03:27] He is a UFA after the 25-26 season

[01:03:31] So you got Jacob Markstrom

[01:03:33] Until he's 36

[01:03:35] He is a career

[01:03:37] 215

[01:03:39] 195

[01:03:41] And 57

[01:03:43] With 20 shutouts

[01:03:45] A 2.72 goals

[01:03:47] Against average

[01:03:49] And a 0.909 save percentage

[01:03:51] He has the most

[01:03:53] Playoff experience out of these guys

[01:03:55] With 26 games

[01:03:57] That's not a lot

[01:03:59] He's 13 and 13

[01:04:01] So he's 500 in the postseason

[01:04:03] With a 2.9 goals against average

[01:04:05] And a 0.911 save percentage

[01:04:07] Now

[01:04:09] I like Jacob Markstrom

[01:04:11] A more because of the term on his contract

[01:04:13] The age

[01:04:15] That brings me a little bit

[01:04:17] Especially compared

[01:04:19] I like UTC Sauros and all Mark a little bit better

[01:04:21] Where was Markstrom before Calgary?

[01:04:23] That's an excellent question

[01:04:25] Vancouver

[01:04:27] I feel like you've mentioned it before

[01:04:29] I just thought you knew

[01:04:31] And then

[01:04:33] There's Lorraine Berswa

[01:04:35] Back up this year

[01:04:37] Back up for most of his career

[01:04:39] He's 31 years old

[01:04:41] He signed a 1-year deal with Winnipeg

[01:04:43] This year

[01:04:45] For 1.75 million

[01:04:47] So

[01:04:49] Lorraine Berswa can sign as a free agent

[01:04:51] You don't have to give up anything for him

[01:04:53] The career

[01:04:55] He's 63, 46 and 13

[01:04:57] With 6 shutouts

[01:04:59] A 2.64 goals

[01:05:01] Against average

[01:05:03] And a 9.11 save percentage

[01:05:05] In the playoffs

[01:05:07] In 7 games

[01:05:09] He's 5 and 2

[01:05:11] 6 goals against

[01:05:13] And an 8.88 save percentage

[01:05:15] Now he would be a UFA

[01:05:17] So this would be a straight buy

[01:05:19] No trade

[01:05:21] He's got the best playoff percentage

[01:05:23] Yeah, he does have the best

[01:05:25] It comes along with a crappy

[01:05:27] Save percentage

[01:05:29] UTC Sauros has

[01:05:31] And goals against for play

[01:05:33] Yeah, he's 10 and 7

[01:05:35] Basically 17 games

[01:05:37] But at least it's a winning record

[01:05:39] Out of those 4 guys

[01:05:41] Now keep in mind you have to trade

[01:05:43] For Sauros, Allmark and Markstrom

[01:05:45] Berswa the free agent

[01:05:47] And if you can have your pick

[01:05:49] We're not going to talk about what you're going to trade

[01:05:51] For them or anything like that

[01:05:53] But if you have your pick

[01:05:55] Who would you want

[01:05:57] Out of those 4

[01:05:59] Tone

[01:06:01] Say Sauros I think

[01:06:05] That's where I'm at

[01:06:07] But do you

[01:06:09] Make that trade

[01:06:11] Without an extension

[01:06:13] No

[01:06:15] You can't right?

[01:06:17] And they're going to ask for something

[01:06:19] Or just flat out

[01:06:21] They're going to ask for something

[01:06:23] Probably heavy for him so now you have to get an extension

[01:06:25] Before you leave that room

[01:06:27] I know where Chris is going with this

[01:06:29] I don't know we can do this hypothetical

[01:06:31] If we can always assume there's some kind of extension

[01:06:33] I think to make it more

[01:06:35] You get right now

[01:06:37] Okay

[01:06:39] Anybody can be extended

[01:06:41] With the exception of Berswa

[01:06:43] You're getting these players

[01:06:45] Contract as is

[01:06:47] Well basically we're looking at a point

[01:06:49] You cannot extend

[01:06:51] You have to take the risk

[01:06:53] So now with those

[01:06:55] Parameters set Tony who do you go with

[01:06:57] But then I'm thinking do they add defensemen on here

[01:06:59] What are they going to do

[01:07:01] I can't help but think this way

[01:07:03] I'm going to

[01:07:05] Between

[01:07:07] Mark's room and Soros probably

[01:07:09] But I want to take Soros just because of the

[01:07:11] I feel a little bit

[01:07:13] I don't know

[01:07:15] I'm going to say Soros

[01:07:17] Dan

[01:07:19] Okay so just so I'm clear

[01:07:21] I understand Bob's framing

[01:07:23] Of this and it makes a lot of sense

[01:07:25] Which is basically like we're

[01:07:27] Coming in as the goalie expert

[01:07:29] Cheryl says I am getting one of these guys

[01:07:31] And you're going to get them as is

[01:07:33] So don't worry about who we're giving up

[01:07:35] Don't worry about how long they're going to be here

[01:07:37] Right that's the parameters right

[01:07:39] Because those are huge things

[01:07:41] That we're just going to put aside for the sake of argument

[01:07:43] We're allowed to consider it in our argument

[01:07:45] Two years contract versus a one

[01:07:47] I'm just saying it's not going to change

[01:07:49] We cannot assume

[01:07:51] That we're going to sign them long term

[01:07:53] Or anything like that

[01:07:55] Well then if that's the case and I really do care about

[01:07:57] The direction of the team

[01:07:59] Taking either one of those

[01:08:01] UFAs

[01:08:03] In that situation

[01:08:05] If I'm going to give up anything

[01:08:07] You know what I'm saying? Because like that would be a one year

[01:08:09] And you give away a lot

[01:08:11] And that's it, you're back where you started

[01:08:13] That's a huge consideration

[01:08:15] It's just a decision that you have to have

[01:08:17] It has to be several things to it

[01:08:19] Then do it two ways

[01:08:21] Then do your as is

[01:08:23] And do your simply preferred

[01:08:25] Regardless of how you get them

[01:08:27] Yeah so

[01:08:29] That's taking that second one first

[01:08:31] The one I prefer regardless of how I get them

[01:08:33] I'm almost split there

[01:08:35] And along the same lines as Tony

[01:08:37] My heart really wants sorrow

[01:08:39] So one of the things I said about him I like

[01:08:41] Is he's not a gigantic

[01:08:43] Goalie like everybody else today

[01:08:45] He also doesn't play exactly like everybody else

[01:08:47] He's not a

[01:08:49] Robotic goalie and I think he's fun and exciting

[01:08:51] And I want to see him play here

[01:08:53] I love that as a fan

[01:08:55] I love somebody who likes goalies

[01:08:57] I'm excited about that

[01:08:59] That said, I think that

[01:09:01] You know, Markstrom is a very solid

[01:09:03] Franchise goalie that you can't go wrong with

[01:09:05] I do think that

[01:09:07] Allmark is somebody

[01:09:09] Who can really

[01:09:11] Do a lot for you

[01:09:13] I don't blame him for what happened

[01:09:15] And I think he's always been pretty solid

[01:09:17] But I'm going to take sorrow most of all

[01:09:19] Now if I'm

[01:09:21] Considering the possible damage to the team

[01:09:23] If I'm not going to be taking these UFAs

[01:09:25] I'm going to go for SWAT

[01:09:27] Definitely and I don't think I'm going to

[01:09:29] Have a lot of regrets there

[01:09:31] I do like them

[01:09:33] I think all these guys are really close together

[01:09:35] To say percentage just kind of show you that

[01:09:37] They have a similar experience

[01:09:39] So the trade off of age

[01:09:41] At least along their age route

[01:09:43] They have the same track of experience

[01:09:45] So you don't have guys who've done nothing

[01:09:47] With their careers or guys who are just

[01:09:49] Steeped in tons of crazy

[01:09:51] Things that are the same there

[01:09:53] But yeah I think I would take

[01:09:55] Brasovato protect losing

[01:09:57] Assets because I think you're going to get him

[01:09:59] Most easily and for that price

[01:10:01] He's going to be the best buy

[01:10:03] You know and you make your own

[01:10:05] Term with him

[01:10:07] That said, if you had to

[01:10:09] Make some long term with him to sit down

[01:10:11] That's what he wants

[01:10:13] Maybe you are better off taking the UFA

[01:10:15] If you can do it without selling the farm

[01:10:17] So it really comes out to the parameters

[01:10:19] It really is but as far as my heart

[01:10:21] Who I want to see play the devil's

[01:10:23] Sorrows he's exciting

[01:10:25] Bob

[01:10:27] So in the

[01:10:29] Parameters that we have to take it might be

[01:10:31] Concerned about the team and identifying

[01:10:33] Their next true goal

[01:10:35] Going forward so I think

[01:10:37] Right now I would take Mark

[01:10:39] To fill that for the two years

[01:10:41] That's what gives me comfort

[01:10:43] But if you ask me who I would probably want

[01:10:45] Long term regardless

[01:10:47] Of what he's going to do and what it takes

[01:10:49] I think I would go with

[01:10:51] Sorrows only because I just

[01:10:53] Don't know enough about

[01:10:55] Versois to just throw a UFA contract

[01:10:57] At him for five six years

[01:10:59] And I don't know what he's going to become

[01:11:01] I don't really know what he is now

[01:11:03] That's just being completely honest

[01:11:05] So that's where I would go

[01:11:07] Okay, that's all

[01:11:09] Now okay I have a few problems

[01:11:11] With a couple of these guys

[01:11:13] Lena's all mark worries me for the simple fact

[01:11:15] Is he a product of the system he plays in

[01:11:17] And I know I'm a little sound like

[01:11:19] Brodoor haters right now

[01:11:21] But you have

[01:11:23] A couple of teams you can

[01:11:25] Compare this to right

[01:11:27] He wasn't great in Buffalo

[01:11:29] And now he's great in Boston

[01:11:31] So I'm kind of reserving

[01:11:33] This playoff run for Boston

[01:11:35] To kind of determine how

[01:11:37] I feel 100% of Alina's all mark

[01:11:39] I really like Jacob Markstrom

[01:11:41] But that age

[01:11:43] Is just worrying me a little bit

[01:11:45] Where he's going to be 36 at the end

[01:11:47] Um

[01:11:49] UC Soros to me is the guy

[01:11:51] I think you go and get him

[01:11:53] And you try

[01:11:55] Do everything you can to

[01:11:57] Get an extension done

[01:11:59] Because I do everything that

[01:12:01] Everybody else said about him

[01:12:03] I agree

[01:12:05] But there's something so

[01:12:07] Enticing

[01:12:09] About Lorraine Berswa to me

[01:12:11] A it's his deal

[01:12:13] Right like he made

[01:12:15] 1.75 million this year

[01:12:17] So even like you give this guy

[01:12:19] A huge raise and give him

[01:12:21] 4 million a year, 3-5 a year

[01:12:23] It's still 3-4 million dollars

[01:12:25] Less than every one of these

[01:12:27] Other guys

[01:12:29] You're not giving

[01:12:31] Marksman's make a triple

[01:12:33] And you're not giving anything

[01:12:35] Away to get him

[01:12:37] But to me Soros

[01:12:39] Is that's the guy

[01:12:41] That I think they should try and get

[01:12:43] And I really hope

[01:12:45] Because it would be a huge

[01:12:47] Fail on Tom Fitzgerald's part

[01:12:49] To give up

[01:12:51] And the other thing is too with Lorraine Berswa

[01:12:53] That there is no trade

[01:12:55] We have other needs on this team

[01:12:57] We talked a little bit about Brady Kuchuk

[01:12:59] And we know we're going to need a defenseman

[01:13:01] Or two that maybe aren't going to be in free agents

[01:13:03] To have that draft

[01:13:05] That trade capital

[01:13:07] To move and not just expend it all

[01:13:09] On one position like the goalie

[01:13:11] I think that that frees us up a lot

[01:13:13] And that's why it's so fluid

[01:13:15] That's why these things are hard to do

[01:13:17] Because if we got Brady Kuchuk first

[01:13:19] Then we have a different conversation

[01:13:21] My gut by the way tells me that

[01:13:23] By October

[01:13:25] Soros is our goal tennis

[01:13:27] I wonder whatever it takes

[01:13:29] I think that too winds up coming to Jeff

[01:13:31] One little pro markstrum I would say

[01:13:33] His age thing is actually not such a bad thing

[01:13:35] When you look at some of the

[01:13:37] What the ages they peak at

[01:13:39] It's right about that

[01:13:41] And the fact that it's a two year term

[01:13:43] And then you can cut loose

[01:13:45] Well let's look at all four of these guys

[01:13:47] Compare them to the very best

[01:13:49] That you could hope for

[01:13:51] Like Vasilevsky or something

[01:13:53] They're not him

[01:13:55] And I'm not saying they're not going to do the job

[01:13:57] And help the devils win the cup

[01:13:59] We think they can

[01:14:01] But they're not the sure thing

[01:14:03] You know they end result and you got two years

[01:14:05] So it's not like the worst thing in the world

[01:14:07] That he's that age there

[01:14:09] It's not like he's 40

[01:14:11] I also think Bobby mentioned it

[01:14:13] And I think he's right

[01:14:15] If we have

[01:14:17] One or two guys in our pipeline

[01:14:19] That we feel are going to be able

[01:14:21] To take the reins in two years

[01:14:23] Or even just back markstrum up

[01:14:25] So next year we have markstrum and Alan

[01:14:27] And then the next year maybe we bring someone

[01:14:29] Not Schmidt up

[01:14:31] And really kind of play behind markstrum

[01:14:33] Not get so much workload

[01:14:35] That we fucking destroy these guys

[01:14:37] And then maybe you can move on to a home grown guy

[01:14:39] I do like that

[01:14:41] But if there are no answers coming

[01:14:43] Two, three, four years down the road

[01:14:45] Then you're going to need somebody longer term

[01:14:47] And I don't want to be back in this position

[01:14:49] In two years

[01:14:51] Because you're not going to sign markstrum

[01:14:53] At 36 years old

[01:14:55] I don't think

[01:14:57] I don't think like if we did a five or six years deal

[01:14:59] We're going to really look back on it

[01:15:01] Like why did we do that

[01:15:03] I really don't

[01:15:05] That's the other thing in Sorrow's favor

[01:15:07] Him and Berswa

[01:15:09] Like

[01:15:11] I want this to be like a six year

[01:15:13] This is your guy

[01:15:15] Right

[01:15:17] Let's move on and not need to worry about this anymore

[01:15:19] So you can get that with the free agent

[01:15:21] And assuming again if Sorrow's comes here

[01:15:23] I just feel like there's going to be something else in play

[01:15:25] I don't think he's going to come here for that one year

[01:15:27] So that's my expectation going into next year

[01:15:29] That we know he's locked in

[01:15:31] Maybe it's four or five, six, I'm not sure

[01:15:33] I know what we'd have to do if it's Gerald

[01:15:35] Is look to see who's going to be up in the next

[01:15:37] Three or four years

[01:15:39] Because you know what you don't want to do

[01:15:41] Is make that six year deal for Sorrow's

[01:15:43] And then two years later

[01:15:45] Go well we could deal him

[01:15:47] But you know because we want somebody better now

[01:15:49] Like who else is coming up in the next three or four years

[01:15:51] I honestly don't know

[01:15:53] I don't know who's coming out

[01:15:55] Is it Sturgeon?

[01:15:57] Yeah, there's no way to Rangers Armour

[01:15:59] That's going to be really tough to grab that

[01:16:01] I don't know who's going to be coming up in the next

[01:16:03] Three or four years

[01:16:05] But I can give you a few guys that are UFAs

[01:16:07] This year

[01:16:09] So if by some reason we can't

[01:16:11] Get one of these four guys

[01:16:13] For whatever reason

[01:16:15] We still need a goalie

[01:16:17] So I'll give you these names

[01:16:19] I'll give you some stats and I'll give you their salaries

[01:16:21] And just say yes, no

[01:16:23] I don't know if you're going to be able to do anything

[01:16:25] Or anything else that you think

[01:16:27] So we'll start with Matt Murray

[01:16:29] Right now he's 29 years old

[01:16:31] He's with Toronto

[01:16:33] He makes 6.25

[01:16:35] A year

[01:16:37] AAV which is a big contract

[01:16:39] His career

[01:16:41] 146

[01:16:43] 86 and 24

[01:16:45] He has 15 shutouts

[01:16:47] A 2.79 goals against

[01:16:49] And a 0.910

[01:16:51] He's not going to interest anybody

[01:16:53] Not for me

[01:16:55] Not for me either

[01:16:57] I mean with these others off the table

[01:16:59] You can consider it but I don't put them up in that same group

[01:17:01] His underlying numbers are not that far out of line

[01:17:03] With these guys

[01:17:05] He's just not what I think of when I think of top flight goalie

[01:17:07] Exactly

[01:17:09] That's just going back to like the hockey sense in me

[01:17:11] Not the statistical

[01:17:13] Verification just doesn't stand out to me

[01:17:15] Tony are you awake?

[01:17:17] No

[01:17:19] Let's stick with Toronto

[01:17:21] Because Ilya Samsonov

[01:17:23] Is also a UFA this year

[01:17:25] He's 27 years old

[01:17:27] With 3.55 million

[01:17:29] His career is 102

[01:17:31] 39 and 20

[01:17:33] Those are good numbers

[01:17:35] 13 shutouts

[01:17:37] A 2.75 goals against

[01:17:39] And a 0.904 save percentage

[01:17:41] Does Ilya Samsonov do anything for anyone?

[01:17:43] Put him above Murray maybe

[01:17:45] I'm just going no to the Toronto connection

[01:17:47] I don't want you to go on other goalies

[01:17:49] But I would take Samsonov over Matt Murray

[01:17:51] Yeah

[01:17:53] I guess that's fair

[01:17:55] Tony?

[01:17:57] No but I would take him over

[01:17:59] I would take him over Murray

[01:18:01] So Samsonov right now is tracking as our leader

[01:18:03] Now the third player

[01:18:05] Is

[01:18:07] Mark Andre Flurry

[01:18:09] He's 39 years old

[01:18:11] I do not know what this guy's going to play

[01:18:13] He's with the Wild

[01:18:15] Now he has a 3.5 million

[01:18:17] A.A.V

[01:18:19] His career

[01:18:21] 561 wins

[01:18:23] 329 losses

[01:18:25] And 96 ties

[01:18:27] 75 shutouts

[01:18:29] A 2.6 goals against

[01:18:31] And a 0.912

[01:18:33] Save percentage

[01:18:35] At 39 years old

[01:18:37] I want to dip him in the fountain of the youth

[01:18:39] And take him

[01:18:41] And him and Jake Allen

[01:18:43] A total

[01:18:45] 80 years old

[01:18:47] The oldest

[01:18:49] And then Jesus

[01:18:51] 50 games from Flurry

[01:18:53] Or 45

[01:18:55] I don't know

[01:18:57] 60% from Flurry

[01:18:59] With Allen with his career numbers

[01:19:01] If we knew what we were doing the next year

[01:19:03] Like if they knew like it was a circuit

[01:19:05] And they said don't worry

[01:19:07] We're literally going over the top

[01:19:09] No one's going to pay more

[01:19:11] You can never foresee

[01:19:13] That's not bad

[01:19:15] So do you take Flurry over Samsonov?

[01:19:17] Don't make me

[01:19:19] Answer this

[01:19:21] Because I love that guy

[01:19:23] He is the biggest personality

[01:19:25] In Goal Tending

[01:19:27] I enjoy watching him

[01:19:29] Or in anybody except for Bredor

[01:19:31] Yeah

[01:19:33] I take him

[01:19:35] Mark Andre Flurry

[01:19:37] Is leading with you guys

[01:19:39] For all the reasons you guys said

[01:19:41] It's hard not to take him

[01:19:43] But I'm going to say no

[01:19:45] That's probably the smart thing Tony

[01:19:47] I think 39

[01:19:49] I got it

[01:19:51] He's 39

[01:19:53] I don't know if I could

[01:19:55] Follow that

[01:19:57] When he came to the Colorado

[01:19:59] He was up there

[01:20:01] God I don't know

[01:20:03] I'm going to look this up

[01:20:05] The next guy

[01:20:07] Capo Cochrane

[01:20:09] 27 years old

[01:20:11] He gets a 2.75 AAV

[01:20:13] His career is

[01:20:15] 49, 66

[01:20:17] And 15

[01:20:19] So he's well below 500 career wise

[01:20:21] With 4 shutouts

[01:20:23] Which you did give us 1

[01:20:25] A goals against of 3.35

[01:20:27] And a say percentage for 0.898

[01:20:29] I have

[01:20:31] Not much interest in

[01:20:33] Capo Cochrane coming back

[01:20:35] What do you guys think

[01:20:37] This is a

[01:20:39] Goal tender for me

[01:20:41] Tony not interested

[01:20:43] No not interested

[01:20:45] This is a goal tender for me that

[01:20:47] The eye test doesn't fit the numbers

[01:20:49] You just gave me I did not realize

[01:20:51] That he was a 3.35 and only an 898

[01:20:53] Certainly

[01:20:55] That fits right in line with what our

[01:20:57] Devils goal tenders did this year

[01:20:59] Which was bottom in the league so

[01:21:01] I don't want to that in regard but when I look at him

[01:21:03] I've always seen a better

[01:21:05] Goal tender

[01:21:07] When he got traded I'm like

[01:21:09] Why did he just write him off like he's nothing

[01:21:11] He's a pretty good goal tender

[01:21:13] But your number suggests he's not nearly

[01:21:15] As good as some of the others

[01:21:17] That's unfortunate because

[01:21:19] If it wasn't for the designation

[01:21:21] On Alan that you are already

[01:21:23] The 1B

[01:21:25] I would actually be very happy with him

[01:21:27] As my B

[01:21:29] As your backup right

[01:21:31] Yeah

[01:21:33] What about you guys on cocking and well Dan

[01:21:35] What do you think is Tony and I say no

[01:21:37] I really do you know

[01:21:39] First of all all the dick jokes

[01:21:41] We got a nice place to play the dick short

[01:21:43] Yeah we gotta get another

[01:21:45] Cocko or something in

[01:21:47] We have to do it for you

[01:21:49] We got balls we got

[01:21:51] We got balls in cock

[01:21:53] Cocking balls they're out there

[01:21:55] No it's unlimited fun

[01:21:57] But besides that I do like his play

[01:21:59] Man he's great

[01:22:01] By the way he was great today

[01:22:03] He played fantastic

[01:22:05] Uninspired he held the flyers to one goal

[01:22:07] He did make a couple of fantastic saves

[01:22:09] You could do worse than go with him

[01:22:11] I mean I kinda would

[01:22:13] Want to

[01:22:15] Some part of me wants to grab cocking

[01:22:17] And hold it and keep it

[01:22:19] And you have

[01:22:21] I lose with this guy

[01:22:23] Yeah definitely

[01:22:25] The next guy

[01:22:27] He's Tony

[01:22:29] He lives with all of us

[01:22:31] So we all know

[01:22:33] It sounds like I've been homeless

[01:22:35] And just drifting from couch to couch

[01:22:37] That was me

[01:22:39] In high school

[01:22:41] Me for a while

[01:22:43] I was in some basements for a while

[01:22:45] This is a nice basement

[01:22:47] Finally we ran out of American basements

[01:22:49] Exactly how to come over here

[01:22:51] The next guy on our list is

[01:22:53] Cam Talbot

[01:22:55] He's old

[01:22:57] I looked at what I said about raw

[01:22:59] He was 31 when he went to Colorado

[01:23:01] So fuck that

[01:23:03] We can't take Flurry

[01:23:05] Flurry is 39

[01:23:07] And Cam Talbot is 36

[01:23:09] And he gets a million dollars

[01:23:11] A.A.V. from the Kings this year

[01:23:13] His careers

[01:23:15] 244 wins

[01:23:17] 175 losses

[01:23:19] 42 ties

[01:23:21] 31 shutouts

[01:23:23] 34 save percentage

[01:23:25] Cam Talbot again

[01:23:27] Doesn't really do much for me

[01:23:29] What do you guys think?

[01:23:31] Nah

[01:23:33] His numbers were good when he was younger

[01:23:35] This guy doesn't work for me at all

[01:23:37] We have four more to go through

[01:23:39] Casey DeSmith

[01:23:41] 32 years old

[01:23:43] He's with Vancouver right now

[01:23:45] Do you want to know his numbers or not at all

[01:23:47] I got the sun coming up behind me in the window here

[01:23:49] One point

[01:23:51] One point

[01:23:53] A.A.V.

[01:23:55] His career is 69

[01:23:57] 53-21

[01:23:59] He has 10 shutouts

[01:24:01] 284 goals against and a 909 save percentage

[01:24:03] Casey DeSmith

[01:24:05] I always liked Casey DeSmith

[01:24:07] I think he's a fine goalie

[01:24:09] I don't know if I really want him

[01:24:11] And Alan to be our one too

[01:24:13] We don't need to find

[01:24:15] We need a little better time

[01:24:17] The next guy is James Reimer

[01:24:19] He's 36 from Detroit

[01:24:21] He gets a 1.5 A.A.V

[01:24:23] I say pass

[01:24:25] Another former leaf

[01:24:27] Yeah, I think James Reimer was a leaf

[01:24:29] He's 213, 177

[01:24:31] and 63 with 30 shutouts

[01:24:33] 287 goals against

[01:24:35] and a 0.910 save percentage

[01:24:37] James Reimer

[01:24:39] I remember all the bullshit from last year

[01:24:41] That's the part of personally holding the gun

[01:24:43] What happened last year with Reimer

[01:24:45] He was like complaining about

[01:24:47] the jerseys and this and that

[01:24:49] You remember this?

[01:24:51] I don't remember

[01:24:53] The next two

[01:24:55] I would be willing to

[01:24:57] discuss

[01:24:59] in depth if you guys wanted to

[01:25:01] The next guy is

[01:25:03] Antiranta 34

[01:25:05] from Carolina

[01:25:07] 1.5 A.A.V

[01:25:09] 139, 80 and 29

[01:25:11] on his career

[01:25:13] 20 shutouts, a 248

[01:25:15] against and a 915 save percentage

[01:25:17] I wouldn't scoff at Antiranta

[01:25:19] Wow

[01:25:21] I would not

[01:25:23] be happy if any of these guys

[01:25:25] became our number ones

[01:25:27] but I wouldn't scoff at Antiranta

[01:25:29] I'd like him, I think he's a

[01:25:31] fine player and if you've got him for a year or two

[01:25:33] I'd be fine with that

[01:25:35] Not fine with that but it's an upgrade

[01:25:37] It's an interesting player because

[01:25:39] anytime you've got one of

[01:25:41] three goalie tandem

[01:25:43] there's three goalies

[01:25:45] Carolina had three, wasn't he one of the three?

[01:25:47] Yeah, yeah, yeah

[01:25:49] What do they know that they're

[01:25:51] not entrusting any one of the three guys

[01:25:53] to get 15 or 20 more games

[01:25:55] As a team that recently used seven goalies

[01:25:57] I totally feel that

[01:25:59] I do like his underlying numbers

[01:26:01] but I'd probably stay away from him

[01:26:03] Don't

[01:26:05] Yeah, stay away

[01:26:07] All these secondary guys

[01:26:09] if we're going to do that might as well stay with Cockney

[01:26:11] Well, this other guy

[01:26:13] I'd

[01:26:15] This guy I would maybe take

[01:26:17] because his first time when New Jersey

[01:26:19] maybe, you know, I thought he played okay

[01:26:21] but he left

[01:26:23] Scott Wedgwood

[01:26:25] He's 31

[01:26:27] He's with Dallas now

[01:26:29] Was he in net or was it

[01:26:31] was he in net when you saw them?

[01:26:33] He's a million dollars a year

[01:26:35] He's

[01:26:37] 500 goalie, 48, 48

[01:26:39] and 22

[01:26:41] He's got six shutouts, two 9 8 goals against

[01:26:43] and a 9 0 6 save percentage

[01:26:45] I wouldn't mind him

[01:26:47] with Allen

[01:26:49] but at the same time I don't know

[01:26:51] if we have any of these guys that we just mentioned

[01:26:53] these second tier guys

[01:26:55] I don't know if they automatically become

[01:26:57] the number one with Allen there

[01:26:59] where the other four guys

[01:27:01] it's obvious that

[01:27:03] you know, Allen's the backup

[01:27:05] This goes against everything you've talked about in the last couple of episodes

[01:27:07] so it's like to have a true

[01:27:09] stud in here and not be dealing with this crap again

[01:27:11] This does not do their crap

[01:27:13] players just you know

[01:27:15] which one's a backup, you know

[01:27:17] he's put himself a good career

[01:27:19] he's a backup

[01:27:21] and you know I think we had him

[01:27:23] as our number one we'd be

[01:27:25] fired up next year pissed off about that

[01:27:27] so I don't know

[01:27:29] Well I think if any of these guys are

[01:27:31] because you can't make a term

[01:27:33] you can't coin a phrase

[01:27:35] like hunting for a gold tender

[01:27:37] and come back with camp Talbot

[01:27:39] you can't do that

[01:27:41] like Dan said if that's the case

[01:27:43] I think fans can probably digest

[01:27:45] a little easier saying

[01:27:47] we're gonna sign Coppo Cochrane again

[01:27:49] and just run with those two

[01:27:51] Let's say for whatever reason Soros, Olmar, Markstrom, Brasová

[01:27:53] they're off the table

[01:27:55] could you do much better than just

[01:27:57] staying Pat with Allen and Cochrane

[01:27:59] I don't think so

[01:28:01] I don't think you

[01:28:03] because real quick

[01:28:05] you know before we wrap it up

[01:28:07] is there anybody else

[01:28:09] that you

[01:28:11] might be able to trade for

[01:28:13] because I've thought about it

[01:28:15] I can't think of anybody

[01:28:17] you know there are some unproven guys

[01:28:19] that maybe you can pull away like the

[01:28:21] Kid Spencer Knight from Florida

[01:28:23] who I think has a good career

[01:28:25] you know moving forward

[01:28:27] but he hasn't played much in the NHL

[01:28:29] but you don't want to take a chance

[01:28:31] not with this young team like you need

[01:28:33] that solid dude back there

[01:28:35] I will see who else is coming down the pike

[01:28:37] besides just Durkin but I don't think so

[01:28:39] if Olmar is

[01:28:41] available

[01:28:43] because of what they have going on

[01:28:45] in Boston with Swamen

[01:28:47] then maybe Swamen could be more of the

[01:28:49] trade guy

[01:28:51] longer term trade guy which I would prefer

[01:28:53] over the two of them by the way

[01:28:55] absolutely and I think Boston would too

[01:28:57] that's why we're hearing about Olmar

[01:28:59] so no otherwise I don't know of any

[01:29:01] you know

[01:29:03] goaltender out there that's just waiting to be

[01:29:05] traded for that isn't like

[01:29:07] Shirokin or something who obviously just

[01:29:09] signs not moving

[01:29:11] yeah he just signed last year and you know

[01:29:13] we discussed a little bit last year

[01:29:15] there's that upper echelon

[01:29:17] or last show rather

[01:29:19] upper echelon of the maybe 10 guys

[01:29:21] 10 goalies that are just

[01:29:23] heads and shoulders above everybody else

[01:29:25] the best of the best

[01:29:27] everybody else there's a chunk

[01:29:29] there probably about 80% of the goalies

[01:29:31] they're interchangeable

[01:29:33] they're all the same so like

[01:29:35] if you want to make a difference then you have

[01:29:37] to be a difference maker

[01:29:39] go get a difference maker

[01:29:41] the thing that really does concern me

[01:29:43] is the fact that these guys don't have

[01:29:45] term but

[01:29:47] like you said maybe just have to kind

[01:29:49] of roll the dice and hope like hell

[01:29:51] that he loves it here and the team does well

[01:29:53] and you can sign Shiros at the

[01:29:55] end of next year but you know if you

[01:29:57] get Shiros in here and you give up a lot

[01:29:59] and you make a strong

[01:30:01] playoff run and there's another team

[01:30:03] that's just dangling a few million dollars more

[01:30:05] in front of them this guy could walk

[01:30:07] and that's something that I think

[01:30:09] the devil management really has

[01:30:11] to you know

[01:30:13] keep that in mind you have to be able to

[01:30:15] get at least a verbal agreement

[01:30:17] that he'll sign an extension

[01:30:19] otherwise I don't know

[01:30:21] otherwise just go and get Marcell

[01:30:23] that verbal agreement

[01:30:25] exactly the point

[01:30:27] that's our goal we watched

[01:30:29] 2024 for tonight

[01:30:31] is there anything that you guys want to discuss

[01:30:33] here

[01:30:35] no just think that doesn't

[01:30:37] remind everybody

[01:30:39] that we're going to be changing

[01:30:41] the format of the predictions

[01:30:43] do that we're going to figure out exactly how

[01:30:45] but I think part of it will be

[01:30:47] on the unclepuckers.com

[01:30:49] probably an easy spot for our listeners to go to

[01:30:51] put in their predictions so we can organize it

[01:30:53] on our end and then let's just have a

[01:30:55] lot of fun with it and like actually

[01:30:57] stay with us this summer because we're not going anywhere

[01:30:59] oh no we're not going anywhere but I

[01:31:01] want to do where the guest

[01:31:03] listener comes on with us on Sunday

[01:31:05] they come in they do their predictions

[01:31:07] we all do it together and then we bring up for

[01:31:09] accountability

[01:31:11] I'm just saying another they could actually go to

[01:31:13] the site to like tell us they're interested

[01:31:15] to be the people that are going to come on

[01:31:17] so we can have them schedule with you

[01:31:19] there's a contact us thing on the site

[01:31:21] if we're going to roll with this

[01:31:23] or we'll delve into it

[01:31:25] as we move further I will probably

[01:31:27] create a page specifically for that

[01:31:29] so they'll know exactly where to go

[01:31:31] where to go put their info in then we'll

[01:31:33] contact them and schedule them to be on the show

[01:31:35] and we're going to start that version

[01:31:37] of the predictions after the Stanley Cup

[01:31:39] is awarded so we have time there's about two

[01:31:41] months so we can try and get some people scheduled

[01:31:43] and stuff so wherever you're listening to us

[01:31:45] guys thank you so much for checking us out

[01:31:47] and you know like a five-star review

[01:31:49] positive comment goes a long way to help us

[01:31:51] push this little podcast along

[01:31:53] check out we have articles

[01:31:55] and all of our shows available

[01:31:57] at theunclepuckers.com
