[00:00:04] When conditions change without notice, quick strategic thinking is crucial and with obstacles
[00:00:09] consistently impending, determination is essential in overcoming them.

[00:00:22] Marines are the constant our nation council on to fight the unknown.
[00:00:25] And through a doubtable problem solving, we do just that.

[00:01:13] Billing.
[00:01:15] The whole world's gone to help, how are you?
[00:01:19] I'm super, thank for AFA, I'm excited I couldn't be better.
[00:01:23] I mean everything is super when you're going to think I look to you in this path.
[00:01:33] Everything is super when your new jersey double thing guys.
[00:01:35] Yeah.
[00:01:37] Because this is the season we dreamt of.
[00:01:41] Yeah, how are you?
[00:01:43] Super.
[00:01:45] Thanks for asking.
[00:01:47] I was going to say we always start the show with the Muppet theme for the Muppet Show,
[00:01:51] but now that you played that, that's pretty well.
[00:01:53] So it's a Bobby will be joining us a little bit so we'll get to some other stuff.
[00:01:59] But then you haven't been here in a couple of shows and we had a long discussion on the last podcast
[00:02:05] and I'm really curious to get your opinion on a scale of 1 to 10.
[00:02:11] And explain how important is this off season for Tom Fitzgerald and the New Jersey Devils?
[00:02:19] Well, I'd say it's super important.
[00:02:23] It's super important.
[00:02:25] Number, you know, I guess a 9 maybe, you know, like how could it be much less than that?
[00:02:33] Because you know, there's a misfire that really goes back to the off season
[00:02:39] and yes, there were a lot of other unforeseen things that happened.
[00:02:43] But the management during the season from Fitzgerald was, you know,
[00:02:49] leaves a lot to be desired.
[00:02:51] I think everybody's saying, you know, why do you wait so long to pull the coach trigger?
[00:02:55] Why did we not go for a gold tender when we had an ability earlier in the year?
[00:03:01] So like, you know, this is his chance to get the ship righted and I don't think...
[00:03:07] I don't think it's going to be necessarily the easiest task.
[00:03:11] I mean, he kind of starts around the gold tender if you can get the gold tender that we want,
[00:03:17] you know, whoever that happens to be, you know, that is, you know, franchise gold tender.
[00:03:23] That's great. You start there and I think he's got a few other moves to make.
[00:03:27] So yeah, super important. It's weird because, you know,
[00:03:31] I think that the majority of this team is there.
[00:03:35] But obviously, there's some key moves that need to be made.
[00:03:39] What do you consider like the core of this team? What do you consider that,
[00:03:43] you know, for the next six years, five years, this, you know,
[00:03:47] and just stick with the forward group. We don't have to get into the...
[00:03:51] Right. Just your forward groups. Who is a untouchable?
[00:03:55] Because I only have three.
[00:03:57] Yeah, I was going to say a lot fewer than I would have told you last year.
[00:04:01] Right? I am more than willing to deal big pieces like just for Brad and others.
[00:04:07] If it means making this forward unit a little bit more in the vein of team admire than,
[00:04:15] you know, the smaller guys that don't always, you know, pitch in scoring wise.
[00:04:19] I think we really have to start the...
[00:04:21] We have to really start the idea of...
[00:04:25] Brady Kachuk in this team.
[00:04:29] I think that Devil fans need to start really making that known that he is,
[00:04:35] like desperately needed and wanted here in New Jersey because I think that he's the guy.
[00:04:41] You know, I know there are a lot of guys that play like him.
[00:04:45] But you find very few guys other than the Kachuk's and even Tim O'Mire who can put the points up
[00:04:51] and still do all that physical stuff.
[00:04:53] I mean, that's really what it's coming down to losing Jasper Brad with suck as far as losing those points.
[00:04:57] But replacing him with, let's say Brady Kachuk, you're really not missing a whole lot.
[00:05:03] No, and you're gaining a lot more.
[00:05:05] And then the clutch kind of play that we're not getting.
[00:05:09] And we get to see him on Saturday when we play Ottawa.
[00:05:13] Yeah, I...
[00:05:14] Last year I would have told you a mercer, boy, we can't touch mercer.
[00:05:17] This year? I don't know?
[00:05:19] Yeah, even defensive core.
[00:05:21] I love Jumarino last year this year.
[00:05:23] I mean, maybe he's replaceable.
[00:05:25] I... we went through the whole lineup.
[00:05:29] Yeah.
[00:05:30] Last show of like, you know, keep them let them go things like that.
[00:05:33] Who do you want to see on and I think we all came up with merino was,
[00:05:37] if I remember correctly, was they...
[00:05:39] We got to give him one more year just to kind of say, was this the...
[00:05:43] I don't know.
[00:05:44] I prefer that.
[00:05:45] Which year was the real year for him?
[00:05:47] Is it a drummer?
[00:05:48] So this year, where did Jumarino we saw last year?
[00:05:51] And, you know, there's... there is a lot of moves.
[00:05:54] I think this might be the biggest offseason that the devils have ever had as a franchise.
[00:06:00] Yeah.
[00:06:01] Because if it's Gerald misses, you're setting this team back years.
[00:06:05] Yeah.
[00:06:06] And, you know, it's kind of a scary thought, right?
[00:06:09] Oh, yeah.
[00:06:10] Are the devils the team that we're watching this year?
[00:06:13] Or are they that team that was 112 points last year?
[00:06:17] I don't know.
[00:06:18] Yeah.
[00:06:19] I tend to think that they could be that team, but you know,
[00:06:25] they need to be a better version of that team.
[00:06:28] And they're not even matching that level for so many reasons, you know?
[00:06:32] So I don't know.
[00:06:33] It's going to be interesting to see, but I think they do need to look at where they've been,
[00:06:39] you know, pushed around.
[00:06:41] I think they do need to have a coach in place.
[00:06:44] That's going to be huge in the offseason, too.
[00:06:46] With a good system that people respond to.
[00:06:48] Now, maybe that's Travis Green.
[00:06:50] He sees all this in for the job.
[00:06:51] I'm not saying he's doing a horrible job.
[00:06:54] But I mean, we kind of got to get something, you know?
[00:06:59] Something's got to be done because the identity that had last year with Lendi was great.
[00:07:05] And we saw it fall apart.
[00:07:07] So really, you know, the new identity this team is going to be centered around a couple of what we'd like to see
[00:07:13] is, you know, forwards with some grit to him as well as, you know, a serious gold tender.
[00:07:20] And a coach with the plant fertile that I think would be the offseason we need, you know?
[00:07:28] You know, I like Travis Green, at least you do a little bit that we've seen, but I just,
[00:07:34] I don't think you keep him.
[00:07:36] I mean, unless this team goes on a 14 and a run for the next four weeks or whatever, you know,
[00:07:41] I just, I don't see it.
[00:07:43] I think you have to move off of basically anybody who was on that coaching staff this year.
[00:07:48] Right.
[00:07:49] Tell him, what do you think?
[00:07:50] Yeah, you know, I mean, I'm starting to even see it amongst those four days on the X today.
[00:07:55] And one of our listeners, I guess, he was saying that basically it's hard to even go to the games.
[00:08:01] It's kind of getting to that point now, which we all know, like we all do this podcast.
[00:08:05] I'll still watch the devil's anyway, but I have to be honest with you guys.
[00:08:07] I told you now I can record the games at night.
[00:08:09] When you're losing like this, it's rather watching in the morning than stay up to like six o'clock in the morning.
[00:08:14] But I've been noticing online, like, you know, that whole sentiment and I mean, I told one guy today, I said,
[00:08:19] Hey, at least tonight is he's going to the game, I guess, and he's like, I'm excited.
[00:08:22] It's not there.
[00:08:23] I was like, well, at least you're going to see them where their stadium jerseys for our last time tonight.
[00:08:26] I mean, you know, I mean, just not really, this season's pretty much, you know?
[00:08:30] I mean, look, we're like, what we're second to last now, we're only above Columbus.
[00:08:34] It's crazy, you know?
[00:08:35] I mean, it's unbelievable.
[00:08:37] I mean, you know, watching to now is making some kind of little push, you know, I mean,
[00:08:41] It's bad.
[00:08:42] I mean, it's really, really bad.
[00:08:44] And yeah, you know, it's when we, when the first half of the season,
[00:08:50] first three quarters of the season even basically right up until, you know,
[00:08:54] jack-off-back and the guy's got healthy again, you know?
[00:08:58] We did use the, um, excuse, you know, of the injuries and okay, you know,
[00:09:04] They're going to get healthy and when they get healthy, they get better.
[00:09:07] It's just obvious now.
[00:09:08] It wasn't the injuries.
[00:09:09] It wasn't any of that.
[00:09:11] It's just a, you know, fundamental problem with this lineup.
[00:09:16] It's this team not being able to gel, not being able to play well with each other,
[00:09:20] just no piece of miss where are you going to say take?
[00:09:24] I'll take something back that I said too earlier this season was I didn't realize
[00:09:27] how big of a Los Dogi Hamilton would be for us here.
[00:09:30] Yeah, I mean, I'll be honest that first, you know,
[00:09:32] I thought, okay, he's been kind of missing the last few weeks.
[00:09:35] No, it's going to suck but I think we could get past it.
[00:09:37] But now you kind of realize how big of a blow it was to them.
[00:09:40] Yeah, especially on the power play 100%.
[00:09:43] You know, and even just to take that, that burden off of
[00:09:49] Shimon Nimwich and Luke Hughes to have that veteran guy back there that can play
[00:09:54] The Big Minutes and head up the powerfully.
[00:09:56] It doesn't have to be all on the shoulders of those two young guys.
[00:09:59] Hey Bobby.
[00:10:00] Welcome to the show sir.
[00:10:02] Thank you.
[00:10:03] Good to hear.
[00:10:04] You've that thing I was saying about Bobby and the inflatable woman later before.
[00:10:07] I don't know, I want to hear that.
[00:10:08] It's a thing.
[00:10:09] Can't get rid of it.
[00:10:10] We don't edit.
[00:10:11] So Bobby.
[00:10:13] So we did make predictions for last week and it was a really, really bad week boys.
[00:10:20] I'm just going to warn everybody now that it was a really bad week.
[00:10:25] I feel like my predictions are lies now.
[00:10:28] So we'll start with you, Tony.
[00:10:30] And this one I will consider a bad beat on your first prediction for the last week's
[00:10:35] Games and for the audience every week we do predictions for the upcoming games.
[00:10:39] Last week was the Rangers to Dallas stars the Arizona Highlys.
[00:10:42] So these predictions are only for those three games.
[00:10:45] And Tony used that Curtis McDermott would fight Rempeke against the Ranger game.
[00:10:50] I blame the referees for that and him being a pussy.
[00:10:53] Yeah, yeah, right.
[00:10:55] You should we all robbed of that point.
[00:10:58] You know, we wanted that.
[00:10:59] Your second prediction was a team on my or would lead the team in scoring this week.
[00:11:04] That was also wrong.
[00:11:06] I think that it was Nico Hesher.
[00:11:09] That led the team in scoring this week.
[00:11:11] Sounds like you had two points.
[00:11:13] So it's bad.
[00:11:15] You said that Jack and Brad will eat score a goal in one game.
[00:11:19] And that was this year.
[00:11:21] Yeah, that's some point.
[00:11:25] All right, Dan, you said that McDermott would not it would have two or more fighting majors.
[00:11:31] He had one.
[00:11:32] So you know, again, the kind of a bad beat because the Rampie thing was bullshit because he's a coward.
[00:11:38] You said that Jack used would lead the league.
[00:11:43] Lead the team in scoring this week.
[00:11:45] I think he had a up point.
[00:11:47] How's he injured?
[00:11:48] I mean, what's going on?
[00:11:50] If he's not injured physically, he's injured and is had.
[00:11:53] Yeah, and if he is injured physically, I think maybe he just jellful and then for the four to two times.
[00:11:57] What are we doing?
[00:11:58] We're about to play off wrong.
[00:12:00] I think that starts sometime in our side.
[00:12:03] Got it, right?
[00:12:04] Well, and you said that the devils would have a shutout.
[00:12:08] And I feel like Jake Allen's going to give you the best chance at it.
[00:12:12] So yeah, I'm going to go.
[00:12:14] Yeah, I'm going to go.
[00:12:15] I think we need to do something here.
[00:12:16] That's about to shut out things.
[00:12:18] We had a conversation Dan, when you have the night when the game is going on.
[00:12:21] Yeah, I think there has to be a five minute.
[00:12:23] When the game starts, if we have to get a last prediction and it has to be in the first five minutes of the game.
[00:12:28] And I was thinking about the problem we were having with that situation.
[00:12:31] Well, that wasn't really a problem.
[00:12:32] I was just big busted.
[00:12:34] Oh, yes, saying that he had to put the point.
[00:12:35] You had to put it in or else he wasn't going to be a rule there, I guess.
[00:12:38] Yeah, we can do that.
[00:12:40] If you're going to put a prediction in front of that game and it has to be within five minutes to get the last minute.
[00:12:44] Yeah, yeah.
[00:12:45] And Bobby, you said that we would have a power play goal against the Rangers.
[00:12:50] No, we were did not.
[00:12:52] You said that we would be had in 19 minutes of options.
[00:12:55] Yeah, no, no.
[00:12:56] You said that we would beat the coyotes by two or more goals.
[00:13:00] They have a button for you to have that one.
[00:13:02] You should have had that one.
[00:13:05] And you said that the Caroline Hurricanes would replace the New York Rangers on top of the Metropolitan Division.
[00:13:12] That was also wrong.
[00:13:13] So far we've gotten a thousand.
[00:13:15] I said that the Devils would go 3 and 0 last week.
[00:13:19] Yeah, they went 1 and 2 again.
[00:13:21] I said that they would beat the Rangers by two or more goals.
[00:13:25] We got our assets kicked.
[00:13:26] But I did get a point.
[00:13:27] I got my first point in about three months.
[00:13:29] I said that the Devils would be perfect on the penalty kill against the Rangers.
[00:13:32] We did kill off everything.
[00:13:34] Yeah, 1 for 12.
[00:13:35] What a week.
[00:13:36] Yeah, I think we were 1 for 12 last week too.
[00:13:39] Yes, we were.
[00:13:40] This is bad.
[00:13:41] And now we worked in the doubles.
[00:13:43] Yeah.
[00:13:44] Now we have this week where we had Sunday's game against the Vegas Golden Knights.
[00:13:49] Tonight against the penguins Thursday against the Winnipeg Dets and Saturday against
[00:13:54] the senators.
[00:13:55] So we have four games.
[00:13:56] Tony and I each put a prediction in already.
[00:13:58] Tony hit his.
[00:13:59] I did not.
[00:14:00] I said that the Devils would chase whoever Vegas's goal tender was.
[00:14:05] And they did not.
[00:14:06] And Tony also said Tony said that Vegas will beat the Devils by two or more goals.
[00:14:09] You got that one right on.
[00:14:11] So let's start with you Dan.
[00:14:12] What your first prediction is this week.
[00:14:14] I'm going to go ahead and take that shut out as usual.
[00:14:17] It's going to happen.
[00:14:19] All right.
[00:14:20] Against the.
[00:14:22] Right?
[00:14:23] It should be.
[00:14:24] I should be betting for sure.
[00:14:25] I'm going to shut out of all.
[00:14:26] I'm just going to go down and flame.
[00:14:28] Some keep keep voting for shut out.
[00:14:30] It's never going to happen.
[00:14:31] Yeah, I know.
[00:14:32] I know what your first prediction.
[00:14:35] Jake Allen in his two starts will allow two or fewer goals in both.
[00:14:41] Mmm.
[00:14:42] You think it only got two starts?
[00:14:44] I think he's getting at least two.
[00:14:46] I'm just.
[00:14:47] Yeah.
[00:14:48] Next two should get two of the three for sure.
[00:14:49] So two or less goals.
[00:14:51] Yes.
[00:14:52] And his starts.
[00:14:54] Yeah.
[00:14:55] And if he gets one start and he lets him two or less goals.
[00:14:58] That's what that you're counting that right.
[00:15:00] Yeah, I think you.
[00:15:01] You're saying like you have to get two starts.
[00:15:04] What happens if he doesn't get two.
[00:15:05] Yeah, right.
[00:15:06] And if we're making him see starts, he will knock him up more than two goals.
[00:15:09] Yeah.
[00:15:10] I think that's probably better.
[00:15:11] What's the first?
[00:15:12] The three games were going on for.
[00:15:13] Well, yeah, because you can't hit a Vegas one anymore.
[00:15:16] So yeah.
[00:15:17] So it would just be depends to jets and the senators.
[00:15:19] So what's your second prediction, Tom?
[00:15:21] Allen will get a win in the next three games.
[00:15:26] Kind of one of these next three.
[00:15:28] All right.
[00:15:30] All right. My second prediction is that Brady could chuck.
[00:15:33] We'll have the game winning goal against us on Saturday.
[00:15:36] I'm just a comment.
[00:15:38] Don't come at the first 30 seconds of the first period.
[00:15:41] Yeah, exactly.
[00:15:42] And what's your second prediction then?
[00:15:45] Uh, one.
[00:15:47] At least one double will go out and miss it.
[00:15:49] At least one game with injury.
[00:15:51] Oh, one dev from this week will be injured and miss that least one game.
[00:15:57] Yes, we'll be scratched due to injury.
[00:16:00] Okay.
[00:16:01] This has been a while.
[00:16:04] Yeah.
[00:16:05] Yeah. We've saved relatively healthy.
[00:16:07] Yeah.
[00:16:08] Jonah's taking a little Jonah's taking the dollar. Got his head knocked off on the show.
[00:16:11] That's true.
[00:16:12] Bobby, what's your second prediction?
[00:16:14] Just for Brad will not score a goal that either ties the game or gives us the lead this week.
[00:16:21] Oh, that sounds like a gimmick.
[00:16:23] We're getting fancy now.
[00:16:24] You're not a fan soon.
[00:16:25] Tony said we're going to win a game winning goal.
[00:16:28] Just saying a goal that would give us the lead or a tying goal.
[00:16:32] All right, he could score a tie or leading goal.
[00:16:35] All right.
[00:16:36] We're leading goal.
[00:16:37] And if he gets a leading goal but then it ended up losing that lead, it still counts, right?
[00:16:42] Yes, that goal.
[00:16:43] Yeah, the goal.
[00:16:44] Sorry, it doesn't have to be the game winner.
[00:16:46] Just has to be the one that puts us ahead.
[00:16:48] Right.
[00:16:49] You're saying he's not going to get any of this score first for the devils, which would give
[00:16:53] them a leave for a period of time.
[00:16:55] Gotcha.
[00:16:56] Tony, your third and final prediction this week.
[00:16:59] And what are those games as Washington?
[00:17:01] We said, right?
[00:17:02] No, I did not.
[00:17:03] I said the penguins, the jets, and the senators.
[00:17:06] But if you want to put a Washington prediction in the cross, we'll have two goals against,
[00:17:11] no, I'm going to say that.
[00:17:13] Have I won a goal against this tonight?
[00:17:15] Okay.
[00:17:17] All right.
[00:17:18] My third and final prediction is that Andre Palat will have the most points out of any devil
[00:17:26] tonight against the penguins.
[00:17:28] I think that's kind of a little hat trick right there, am I opinion?
[00:17:31] Because Palat gets the most points out if it comes out, we'll fight about it next week.
[00:17:36] I mean, you could have a golden assist in leading.
[00:17:39] Yeah, she's actually.
[00:17:40] You could have one goal and be leading.
[00:17:42] Right, he's team.
[00:17:43] So, you know.
[00:17:45] All right.
[00:17:46] So Dan, your third and final.
[00:17:48] We will have at least one of the three games in which no power play goals are allowed.
[00:17:54] There were a penalty kills perfect and one or more games.
[00:17:57] Okay.
[00:18:02] Our piecekater has been better.
[00:18:03] It's the only thing that's been really working reasonably well.
[00:18:07] The power play is horrible.
[00:18:09] You know, team defense in general, five and five is not good.
[00:18:12] Five is bad.
[00:18:13] Yeah.
[00:18:14] All right.
[00:18:15] Bobby, your third and final.
[00:18:16] We're going to see no one foot in the lineup.
[00:18:18] Or one of the games.
[00:18:20] Do we have the lineup yet together?
[00:18:22] Okay.
[00:18:23] Can I not let Bobby go down in flames right now with something?
[00:18:27] Yeah.
[00:18:28] I kind of heard that no one puts injured.
[00:18:30] Oh, really?
[00:18:31] Yeah, heard that.
[00:18:32] Just keep all being injured.
[00:18:33] Yeah, he's injured again.
[00:18:34] I believe if you want to check an axe, but yes, so I'm going to give you the.
[00:18:37] He has a full foot.
[00:18:39] Some guys put both of our feet or gone.
[00:18:43] Then this is going to change it off a little bit.
[00:18:46] Will mental get a game.
[00:18:49] Well, mental get in a game.
[00:18:51] That's not piggybacking off with somebody getting hurt kind of like with Dan saying, right?
[00:18:55] All right.
[00:18:56] And we thought it was ready.
[00:18:58] Would do we have any, um, lineups written out against the penguins?
[00:19:01] I have an ultschuk.
[00:19:03] Even Amanda's signs like, I don't fucking care anymore.
[00:19:07] Well, did she ever really see right there for one.
[00:19:10] Her one question and then she asks everyone on the team the same question.
[00:19:15] Yeah, I like her too, but you know a bit.
[00:19:19] Wow.
[00:19:20] Here's our when we handicap the schedule.
[00:19:22] We got to go over at the end of the year.
[00:19:25] How wrong we were on these games.
[00:19:28] Oh, yeah.
[00:19:29] My goodness.
[00:19:30] We did terrible.
[00:19:33] Absolutely terrible.
[00:19:34] We all had them winning against Arizona.
[00:19:37] That's good.
[00:19:39] Well, you know, they should be able to hang with Pittsburgh tonight at least.
[00:19:44] You know, that should be a game that they can win, whether or not they do.
[00:19:48] But they, they should.
[00:19:50] I don't even know if they should.
[00:19:51] I don't even know if they should really one point ahead of her.
[00:19:53] Yeah, where are we?
[00:19:54] Where are we?
[00:19:55] Who are we anymore?
[00:19:56] You know, I don't even know what we should be doing.
[00:19:58] You know, and like I said, I don't even know if a 14 game win streak gets you in the playoffs.
[00:20:03] If we roll off six and a row, I'll look at the standing again at this point.
[00:20:06] I can't even bother to do that math and look at all those teams now.
[00:20:10] It is they do get hot.
[00:20:11] It's just going to be like you're going to miss by a point or two.
[00:20:14] You know, it's just everything that we've given away this year.
[00:20:18] They don't deserve to be in the playoffs.
[00:20:19] No, like now that.
[00:20:20] You know, everyone's talking, oh, they could still make a run.
[00:20:23] No, they don't deserve to be in there.
[00:20:25] They don't it'll be like 2,000 what year was that the year that tower hall
[00:20:30] Drag us to the playoffs and we got hooked up 18 right?
[00:20:34] We got hooked up by Tampa and five.
[00:20:36] It would be like that.
[00:20:37] Like what's the sense?
[00:20:38] I don't want to go in there just to get our asses kicked.
[00:20:40] So Bobby, you've got to double you know.
[00:20:43] I do.
[00:20:44] Shall we play a game?
[00:20:52] Buggle up boys and girls.
[00:20:53] It is time for the devil you know on the Uncle Pucker.
[00:20:57] New Jersey Devil podcast.
[00:20:59] Hmm.
[00:21:01] Get ready for the most fun and interactive game and New Jersey Devil podcast history boys.
[00:21:07] Woo, it's the W. No where tonight will be Bobby.
[00:21:10] He's going to give us clues to a former New Jersey Devil player.
[00:21:13] Myself Tony and Bobby and Dan.
[00:21:15] You have to answer.
[00:21:17] We get three incorrect answers before we are eliminated.
[00:21:20] We can ask Bobby any question we want.
[00:21:23] He can't answer.
[00:21:24] It's completely up to him.
[00:21:26] Former devil you know from this season is Kyle Quincy Ryan Carter and
[00:21:30] Paul Mary, Bryce Salvador, Dave Narnacht, Mike Donald.
[00:21:33] Wayne Simmons and a few others not going to read them all.
[00:21:36] And today Bobby, you are the clue master.
[00:21:39] Let's go.
[00:21:40] Sorry.
[00:21:41] Go for it.
[00:21:42] All right.
[00:21:43] This former Devil's birth year,
[00:21:47] the top grossing movies or Terminator 2 Judgment Day,
[00:21:51] Robin Hood Prince of Thieves and Silence of the Lamps.
[00:21:55] He was born in 1993 or two.
[00:21:58] Close.
[00:21:59] Closeer.
[00:22:00] Four.
[00:22:01] But one.
[00:22:02] Ninety-one.
[00:22:03] Okay.
[00:22:04] The movie interview.
[00:22:06] Is there any four relation to any of those movies other than that?
[00:22:10] I just want to do that.
[00:22:12] He's a cannibal.
[00:22:14] He's a cyborg from the future.
[00:22:16] Yeah.
[00:22:17] It came back to play hockey for some reason.
[00:22:20] He won.
[00:22:21] All right.
[00:22:22] So he's born in 1990s.
[00:22:23] Tony's already ran on off when he would be drafted.
[00:22:25] Now he's getting answered a second.
[00:22:27] This Canadian native,
[00:22:29] one in Memorial Cup for the CHL.
[00:22:34] He averages a point every three games in his
[00:22:39] NHN career.
[00:22:41] No.
[00:22:42] Okay.
[00:22:43] He's a point a game guy.
[00:22:45] Point every three games.
[00:22:47] Oh.
[00:22:48] Big difference.
[00:22:49] Yes.
[00:22:50] His best season was 60 games.
[00:22:53] Seven goals.
[00:22:55] Twenty two assists for 29 points and a minus three.
[00:22:59] Can you give me those numbers again?
[00:23:01] 60 goals.
[00:23:02] 60 games rather.
[00:23:03] Seven goals.
[00:23:04] Seven goals.
[00:23:05] Twenty two assists.
[00:23:06] Is it defenseman?
[00:23:08] Yes.
[00:23:09] Okay.
[00:23:11] Can't catch it.
[00:23:12] Can't catch it.
[00:23:13] His last season.
[00:23:14] You got to catch it.
[00:23:16] Yes, there can't catch it.
[00:23:17] Can't catch it.
[00:23:18] Can't catch it.
[00:23:19] No.
[00:23:20] He was forward.
[00:23:21] Yeah.
[00:23:22] I thought so too.
[00:23:23] I just, I was looking at that little points.
[00:23:26] Sorry.
[00:23:27] It's good to catch.
[00:23:28] Patrick Aliás.
[00:23:29] Yeah.
[00:23:30] Yeah.
[00:23:31] You got it.
[00:23:32] There we are.
[00:23:33] His last season in the league.
[00:23:34] Couldn't get younger.
[00:23:35] He played in 27 games.
[00:23:38] He did not get a goal and he had won a cyst.
[00:23:41] For one total point.
[00:23:43] Well, this is a real riveting player Bob.
[00:23:46] He gets better.
[00:23:47] You need more movie trivia to you?
[00:23:49] Yes.
[00:23:50] No.
[00:23:51] In his total NHL career.
[00:23:54] It was 189 games.
[00:23:56] 140.
[00:23:57] I'm sorry.
[00:23:58] 14 goals and 41 assists.
[00:24:00] Which is 55 points.
[00:24:01] He had 92 penalty minutes.
[00:24:04] And that was over six seasons.
[00:24:06] All but one of his points came with the New Jersey doubles.
[00:24:09] All right.
[00:24:10] So he didn't really average one point every three games except in his best year.
[00:24:15] I either did it for his entire professional career or screw that up.
[00:24:20] But you know, I took him back three.
[00:24:23] Was he drafted by the doubles?
[00:24:25] He was drafted by the doubles.
[00:24:27] Oh.
[00:24:28] And what year?
[00:24:29] We're not going to do that yet.
[00:24:31] It's got to be like two down eight or something.
[00:24:33] Yes.
[00:24:34] So I was thinking how many teams did he play for?
[00:24:37] He's a little bit more than he could.
[00:24:41] So you're going to have to do that.
[00:24:42] I'm not going to do that.
[00:24:43] I'm not going to do that.
[00:24:44] No, no.
[00:24:45] I just don't remember.
[00:24:46] I think it's.
[00:24:47] I think it's two to be honest with you.
[00:24:49] Maybe like like 2010.
[00:24:50] 2010.
[00:24:51] Yes.
[00:24:52] Here it is.
[00:24:53] It's the next one.
[00:24:54] He played for two total teams.
[00:24:55] The other one was a Western conference team.
[00:24:57] Jacob Josephson.
[00:24:58] Incorrect.
[00:24:59] Also a forward.
[00:25:00] Okay.
[00:25:01] Two strong defense.
[00:25:03] Miner to one's that play.
[00:25:04] Yeah.
[00:25:05] I'm just guessing.
[00:25:06] I'm like, I'm not 90.
[00:25:08] One is born in.
[00:25:09] I'm like.
[00:25:10] All right.
[00:25:11] Okay.
[00:25:12] Let's see.
[00:25:13] For the Western conference team and the devils.
[00:25:17] Defense men.
[00:25:18] It seems very kind of a stay at home, in effective kind of guy.
[00:25:22] Here's here's a fun fact.
[00:25:24] The number one song in America, the day he scored his first NHL goal in October,
[00:25:30] was came in like a wrecking ball by my lease Cyrus.
[00:25:34] Oh, I should know this.
[00:25:35] This is a hazard because anybody can't get out of the.
[00:25:38] I've never even heard that that song.
[00:25:40] 2000.
[00:25:41] I didn't know that song existed.
[00:25:42] 2000.
[00:25:43] Very close again Chris up.
[00:25:45] Oh, it's 13 2013.
[00:25:46] Well, if he's drafted in an 09 or 2010, which is probably right for his age, I guess it makes sense
[00:25:53] that three four years later he scored.
[00:25:55] Okay.
[00:25:56] After his last season in the NHL play play with the West Coast team, you said play with the West Coast team.
[00:26:02] He did have tryouts and was signed by two NHL clubs, but he never got passed their HL level.
[00:26:11] Oh, boy.
[00:26:14] The clubs were the Canadians and the canes, hurricanes.
[00:26:19] Who was the Western conference team he played for?
[00:26:24] Colorado.
[00:26:28] Play for us, and Colorado.
[00:26:30] Yes, Colorado.
[00:26:31] Did you say where he was drafted at?
[00:26:34] I did not get to that.
[00:26:35] Yes.
[00:26:36] Okay.
[00:26:37] And you say what's out of the draft of that?
[00:26:39] What's that?
[00:26:40] Drass it when you're drafted?
[00:26:41] No.
[00:26:42] I didn't get to that yet either.
[00:26:43] Score is first goal in 2013 though.
[00:26:45] It was board in 1991.
[00:26:47] Guess what?
[00:26:48] Yeah.
[00:26:49] Oh, he's not from that so.
[00:26:52] Okay.
[00:26:53] Now, South of Matau is also a folk.
[00:26:55] I believe you're eliminated.
[00:26:57] I believe you're eliminated.
[00:26:59] I believe you're eliminated.
[00:27:01] I believe you're eliminated.
[00:27:03] First guy eliminated.
[00:27:04] When said Montreal was thrown out.
[00:27:06] We've never had elimination before.
[00:27:08] And those instead of Matau, Denny scored the game winning goal for the Rangers in 1994 when he would
[00:27:14] throw a ball.
[00:27:16] Roll with your goal.
[00:27:17] That's good.
[00:27:18] That was the best case.
[00:27:19] That's okay.
[00:27:20] Now, Tony, you must keep your mouth shut now as the other team try to answer.
[00:27:23] If you just buy it by this game, you never understand that Tony's leading this game by a lot.
[00:27:28] Yeah.
[00:27:29] We did that with Steph on Matau.
[00:27:31] We dropped it.
[00:27:32] Yeah, they were too.
[00:27:33] Okay.
[00:27:34] It's making the joke.
[00:27:35] This one I just threw in because I don't like the Rangers but on December 7th, I said
[00:27:40] 2023 that is not accurate.
[00:27:41] He had an overtime power play.
[00:27:43] I'm going to backstrap even right.
[00:27:44] Assistant by Eliasht to beat the Rangers.
[00:27:47] 4 to 3.
[00:27:48] It was 2013.
[00:27:49] That's what?
[00:27:50] In overtime power play goal?
[00:27:52] Over time power play winner from Patrick Eliasht to beat the Rangers 4 to 3.
[00:27:56] Oh boy.
[00:27:57] Oh, you're so much.
[00:28:00] You're a boy boy.
[00:28:04] Ben and love enjoyed.
[00:28:05] And, oh that's a great guess.
[00:28:07] That was a good one though.
[00:28:08] No one was going to.
[00:28:09] Yeah, that's good.
[00:28:10] Was it a great guy?
[00:28:11] Who do you play with Detroit though?
[00:28:12] He.
[00:28:13] I didn't remember anyone else he played for.
[00:28:15] He has never played in the playoffs.
[00:28:17] Okay.
[00:28:18] And you know he's put the doubles in 2013 so you can start to kind of do the math there.
[00:28:24] His first goal came against Roberto when we long go.
[00:28:27] And the conucks October 24th 2013.
[00:28:31] Dan, you got anything here?
[00:28:37] I really don't.
[00:28:39] I'm struggling with this one.
[00:28:41] Yeah, yeah.
[00:28:42] I am too.
[00:28:43] He was traded to and ended his career with the Colorado average.
[00:28:48] I already answered that for him.
[00:28:50] He played four years for the doubles.
[00:28:52] 2012 through 2016.
[00:28:54] That's your window.
[00:28:57] Maybe if I guess three forwards, I can figure this out.
[00:29:02] Oh.
[00:29:03] It's all right, Tony.
[00:29:04] I'm not going to get it either.
[00:29:06] You have a brother.
[00:29:07] I talked to that.
[00:29:08] He has a brother.
[00:29:09] He has a brother named Carl who was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels of Major League Baseball in 2000.
[00:29:17] What?
[00:29:18] What's going on right now?
[00:29:20] Boy.
[00:29:21] This was actually like a Tony clue.
[00:29:22] That's why I put this one low on the way.
[00:29:23] He's a Tony knows.
[00:29:24] He is from Ontario.
[00:29:25] Yes.
[00:29:26] Okay.
[00:29:27] Oh boy.
[00:29:30] Yeah, I still got nothing.
[00:29:32] Okay.
[00:29:33] In the trade with Colorado, we only received a third round pick.
[00:29:39] That third round pick became Fabian Zedrelant.
[00:29:42] Hmm.
[00:29:43] Tony, do you?
[00:29:46] Yeah.
[00:29:47] I don't guess, but I think so.
[00:29:51] Did you go over as like weight height and shoot note?
[00:29:56] No, I'll see if I have that.
[00:29:59] If not, I can tell you though.
[00:30:00] He is a left shot defenseman.
[00:30:03] Okay.
[00:30:04] He was selected in the first round.
[00:30:07] 54th overall 2009.
[00:30:10] 5 fourth.
[00:30:14] Oh, no.
[00:30:15] I'm running this down.
[00:30:18] I don't know why I'm running this down.
[00:30:19] Still doesn't matter.
[00:30:20] You think you got it, Tony?
[00:30:23] You know, he thought he did, but now he doesn't.
[00:30:28] We got anything else, Bobby.
[00:30:30] Yes.
[00:30:31] He was a bigger guy.
[00:30:33] He was known for his super strong slap shot.
[00:30:37] I know it.
[00:30:38] I know.
[00:30:39] It looked like a major quarterback of the future for us, but that was about all he could do.
[00:30:43] Hmm.
[00:30:44] I write a dumb and just paint for something.
[00:30:46] Yeah, but if you show it, they're always in.
[00:30:48] I'm not good.
[00:30:49] It's not as thinking of Adam.
[00:30:51] I don't know why he's not playing.
[00:30:52] So it's not him.
[00:30:53] Who is this guy?
[00:30:54] Like a flash in the pan.
[00:30:56] He came out, killed it and it looked like we got our guy and then he just faded off the map after a year.
[00:31:03] John Moore?
[00:31:04] No.
[00:31:05] All right.
[00:31:06] So that's too wrong for me.
[00:31:08] Then this might all be you.
[00:31:10] Um, I got nothing, man.
[00:31:12] I'm having a hard time with this known for a killer slap shot.
[00:31:16] Shot left.
[00:31:17] I guess the first name, right?
[00:31:19] John?
[00:31:21] Yeah.
[00:31:22] No.
[00:31:23] Not a John.
[00:31:26] And what was the height?
[00:31:27] Was he a real tall guy?
[00:31:29] He said he was a big guy.
[00:31:30] I had to reset my computer so I don't have it.
[00:31:32] All right, he was in the 6.5.
[00:31:33] I don't think it's going to help.
[00:31:34] He was in the 6.5, I think, something like that.
[00:31:36] 6.3.
[00:31:37] 6.5.
[00:31:38] Tony's killing himself because he has it now and he can't do it.
[00:31:41] We got to wait and see if we can through this though.
[00:31:43] Right.
[00:31:44] Do you have any more followers to guess?
[00:31:47] Who was on those teams?
[00:31:49] That's a good question.
[00:31:54] Should he team?
[00:31:55] John on that to those teams?
[00:31:57] Eric, John on that team.
[00:31:58] It's not him.
[00:31:59] It is him.
[00:32:00] Oh, nice one.
[00:32:02] Here you go, bud.
[00:32:03] Wow.
[00:32:04] I totally forgot about it.
[00:32:05] I did too.
[00:32:06] I did too.
[00:32:07] I've never tried to keep a Tony with me.
[00:32:09] I was going to the school and everyone was like, wow, we got the guy.
[00:32:12] Yeah.
[00:32:13] I do remember that.
[00:32:14] This appeared.
[00:32:15] Tony, did you have that?
[00:32:16] Is that what it was?
[00:32:17] Or you get it?
[00:32:18] Yeah.
[00:32:19] As soon as I said it, he said it.
[00:32:20] Yeah.
[00:32:21] He wrote down.
[00:32:22] He put Eric Jones a forward.
[00:32:23] I don't know.
[00:32:24] He was a golly tone.
[00:32:26] You're still young.
[00:32:27] You're still young.
[00:32:28] You're still new, buddy.
[00:32:29] Martin Jellon.
[00:32:30] I was thinking like low points and I'm looking at the year drafted.
[00:32:33] I'm like man, these guys, we don't have much stars during that time period.
[00:32:37] No, no, we didn't.
[00:32:39] So good one, Bobby.
[00:32:40] Yeah, that was a good one.
[00:32:42] That's how it was.
[00:32:43] That was good.
[00:32:44] What do you guys expect for this week?
[00:32:46] Do you think there's going to be any positive here or is this going to be more misery?
[00:32:51] Actually, there is a fucking bomber in the news today.
[00:32:53] I don't know if you guys saw it hockey related.
[00:32:55] Chris Simon died today.
[00:32:56] Did he really?
[00:32:57] Yeah, just fell off to Simon.
[00:32:59] Yeah, Simon or Dicks, Avalanche, Cavalons.
[00:33:02] I mean, you guys remember him with the capitals.
[00:33:04] He was hockeyista back then.
[00:33:06] Flames Islanders.
[00:33:07] Yeah, he passed away today.
[00:33:08] I see a slide.
[00:33:09] I think they're saying.
[00:33:10] I hope I'm wrong.
[00:33:11] But I believe that's what the, I was seeing.
[00:33:13] What they're going to be.
[00:33:14] Examiner's brain.
[00:33:16] Yeah.
[00:33:17] What the hell is it called?
[00:33:20] Traumatic brain injury.
[00:33:22] Yeah, especially when it leads to things like suicide.
[00:33:25] Yeah, there's a lot of that.
[00:33:27] And yeah.
[00:33:28] And I'm not saying to definitely he was okay.
[00:33:30] You know, that's kind of the vibe that's going around.
[00:33:32] I'm not saying he did.
[00:33:33] But that's kind of what I've been seeing people's kind of relating it to.
[00:33:35] So I don't know if they made it officially.
[00:33:37] Please, did that.
[00:33:38] So what?
[00:33:39] Well, you're saying that they're saying that they don't know for sure if they're
[00:33:42] suicide.
[00:33:43] I see a couple things basically saying it was.
[00:33:45] But I don't want to, you know, I just in case they were wrong.
[00:33:47] But I've seen it a few times online on that's absolutely awful.
[00:33:50] He was a really good player.
[00:33:52] And from what I know about him, he was a really awesome guy.
[00:33:57] That sucks.
[00:33:58] He was a badass man.
[00:34:00] You know, he, he had that presence on the ice too.
[00:34:02] You remember he had that like, I remember he was a Colorado 2D.
[00:34:05] He was out there.
[00:34:06] Yeah.
[00:34:07] Yeah.
[00:34:08] You know, they part of the team.
[00:34:10] That's a shame.
[00:34:11] But.

[00:35:21] How much faith do you guys have that Tom Fitzgerald can fix this team?
[00:35:27] This season done.
[00:35:32] No, I'm saying not in the office season.
[00:35:34] I think you can.
[00:35:35] You know?
[00:35:36] I mean, I got to say like he's done so well up until this year and you could say it started in the off season.
[00:35:43] Okay fine.
[00:35:44] But honestly did not get on him about the moves that were not made in the off season so much to be fair.
[00:35:51] And so you know, with so much good behind the mind I think it's it's very likely that he can get this team back together.
[00:35:58] But yeah, I mean, this would be the time to do it otherwise, you know, you look at some of his earlier successes is more.
[00:36:07] You know, stuff that's kind of played out.
[00:36:09] I wonder if his style needed some kind of evolution to it because it looked like he way he managed or mismanaged the talks with the with Calgary and Markstrom was like,
[00:36:20] the first real hiccup, right?
[00:36:22] We were really impressed with how much he would get for how little he would give up.
[00:36:26] And I feel like maybe that went to his head a little bit and he just did not read the room right when it came to Calgary.
[00:36:33] So that said, you know, do I want to change GM's right now?
[00:36:38] I don't think so.
[00:36:39] I, you know, I might live to regret it but I think he can turn this team around.
[00:36:43] I don't think it's a ton of moves, but he's got to address needs that I think he knows he has now.
[00:36:49] Where is it?
[00:36:51] Dan, you're so much before you that we were talking about the episode you were and on last the last one actually.
[00:36:55] Right.
[00:36:56] Do you think that Tom Fitzgerald's kind of fell into the same kind of spell that we all did in a way like that this team was actually going to like figure it out.
[00:37:03] Don't you know, beginning of the season like you didn't really sweat it out too much.
[00:37:07] Right.
[00:37:08] And it don't, you know, it's a big turnaround I never happened because there was really no consistency this year.
[00:37:11] Do you think he kind of fell into that trap with making the moves so strong?
[00:37:14] Yeah.
[00:37:15] To some extent yes, I think we all did but you know he's the GM and I think we were all sounding alarm bells much earlier than he pulled the trigger.
[00:37:23] And I think that's true most double fans and most people read in a situation so for whatever his reasons were for falling into that trap turning I think you're probably dead on right and having a faith in his team and lindy that they were going to turn around just a matter of time.
[00:37:38] But you know it's still wrong and you know he, he.
[00:37:44] You can tell that he knows that by the moves he did make ultimately he did let lindy go he did you know and all these things at the end was just it's unfortunate because it kind of is like proof that he had an inkling earlier but did not.
[00:37:59] Did not.
[00:38:00] Did not go with his gut or did not go with the evidence whatever we want to call it.
[00:38:04] I think that a lot of times general managers get in their own head that they just believe that because they put the team together.
[00:38:11] They can't walk away from it so I think that was a problem I think it was just no work last year has to work this year like a little bit of both I think.
[00:38:20] But let me ask you guys in order of urgency or importance we know the the four main things that are going to be on Tom Fitzgerald's calendar and schedule for this summer.
[00:38:32] Right then in order of importance for a beef up the forward group you know a big power for another power forward.
[00:38:40] Good defenseman.
[00:38:43] The number one goalie head coach these are four main things that he's going to have to tackle this summer if he wants to turn his team around.
[00:38:50] Right then in order of importance to you what do you think and those four Bobby you can go first.
[00:38:57] All right.
[00:38:58] So for me it was easy to put the defense last because all four of these are a major whole but do have Dougie coming back that's a little more veteran leadership so easy to put that last then the rest.
[00:39:08] Man that's a toss up, but I'm going to go with goalie number one legit you know number one goalie.
[00:39:14] Then the head coach before the forward okay so it be goalie and coach forward defense.
[00:39:20] So goalie defense then head coach and then forward actually as the last few.
[00:39:25] Okay and then.
[00:39:27] Yeah I think either one of those are legit I was leaning towards what Bobby said as well I think the coaching and when I say the coach I'm talking about the entire coaching staff we've got to get the power right straight now we've got to get.
[00:39:40] The penalty kill consistently good when we need a good.
[00:39:44] And you know so yeah I'm going to put the coach ahead of what is a really dire need of some size pretty forwards and then the defense it's it's kind of hard throw that it fourth place.
[00:39:56] What I am but you know because the defense is really important like you said Hamilton's coming back so I think it makes sense to wait on that but I don't know that that's necessarily the only tweak the defense needs.
[00:40:10] But you know right but I think that's it.
[00:40:12] You're kind of yeah because you're kind of getting that extra help from the coaching right should also help the defense.
[00:40:18] That's why structure that's why I put him last that's why to me the head coach is the number one that's the most important one you get you can't get this one wrong.
[00:40:26] It's got to be the right guy for this team and I don't know who that is I you know I like Craig Barubi I like them after saying Lewis fired him.
[00:40:34] I thought that we should get him and then call him up now he's out of a job for the last three hours.
[00:40:39] We got to see some articles people like say no slow down the brew you don't want Barubi and I'm I don't think they made a convincing argument why because I kind of like him too and I think he might be a good fit for this team.
[00:40:50] You have any reservations with Barubis?
[00:40:52] I don't know much about him other than you know I know of course when he played and then you know seeing what he did with St. Louis and coming in you know as the interim coach like Travis Green and take them to the cup just like Greens are going to do for the devil's this year but then you know he was always consistent and I know like towards the end the knock against him was that he was a hard ass and he held people accountable and he wasn't afraid to let you know that and he was very vocal and I know that players nowadays they don't really adhere to that kind of coaching philosophy.
[00:41:21] But you know what who gives a shit what they like or what they don't like that's the kind of guy you need I think with this team right now especially with how they've under performed in every every aspect of their game this year.
[00:41:34] I think a guy like Craig Barubi.
[00:41:36] I see him in the mold of Brindamor if I could have anybody I'd have Brindamor right now.
[00:41:39] Of course yeah yeah, I mean but that's not going to happen.
[00:41:44] I agree with you Chris we had that we had our time for that other kind of building type of coach.
[00:41:49] This team now is at the point where they need to kick an ass type of coach.
[00:41:52] Yeah, it's just my feeling I mean I just saw something about an hour or two ago on X who out the new captain of the flyers and eventually.
[00:42:02] So it's like you know there's a good lesson I don't like that guy but like there's a message right this is a guy who knows how to say I'm running this ship.
[00:42:09] What you're going to do and that is pretty awesome so I don't buy into that whole yeah they can't handle a hard nose coach either.
[00:42:14] I think this team needs a hard nose coach now.
[00:42:16] You know it's funny, but I know I'm actually becoming more of a tort fan each year that I watch him coach.
[00:42:21] And at last year two years ago I said I wouldn't want him around our team at all right like I wouldn't want his kind of I'd tell you what this year.
[00:42:27] I have the totally opposite opinion I think he's exactly what this team needs.
[00:42:31] I mean I think in the way I'd like to punish the players on his team just a little bit.
[00:42:37] Because he's like over alive.
[00:42:39] But I know you really help me with that.
[00:42:41] We need somebody.
[00:42:42] I really got to be a kick in the ass guy like Chris said and so yeah to where well if it's that mole unfortunately he you know he's got all these other problems it just burns out so fast.
[00:42:52] Yeah, I think there's a happier medium and hopefully it's a guy like Ruby.
[00:42:56] I don't see like I like what Brenda Moore's done I mean he seems to come into control but he's got a lot of fire and passion and he's got the team believe in him.
[00:43:06] And that's what you carry sky on their bench.
[00:43:08] Yeah, he is.
[00:43:09] And when you know good teams they always in any sport they take the personality and the model of their head coach and that is what Caroline has done.
[00:43:19] Unfortunately, you know when you have a head coach who tells you after the first half of the season that the biggest takeaway was we've had a lot of injuries.
[00:43:27] You can see where the team can kind of just have that mentality to.
[00:43:30] I don't know the baked in excuses but there was something that I read that I was a little troublesome.
[00:43:36] And I don't know if it's true, but it came out that Tom Fitzgerald said that Travis Green demanded if he took this job to have full and total control over the lineups.
[00:43:46] Which makes me wonder did Lindy rough not have full and total control over the lineups what's Tom Fitzgerald micro-matching this I never even said.
[00:43:56] I mean for last two years we just totally blame Lindy for this and I still feel like that's gotta be right I mean Fitzgerald Lindy got a lot more experience in Fitzgerald you're you telling me that Lindy's like letting him mix up his lines.
[00:44:09] I would think that if this makes any amount of sense it's because Travis Green Travis Green started out as an interim coach first time with a head coach position.
[00:44:18] They might want to put those kind of training wheels on him and he's saying no fuck that I don't want to do that.
[00:44:23] But I don't think that's necessarily implying that Lindy did that I mean you guys think that's possible that Lindy was not in charge of the lineup only caveat I would say maybe when it came down to like Jack.
[00:44:34] You know I wonder if there's any backroom discussions with Jack at any time you know like being that he's the face of the franchise and this and that did it didn't kind of like not know how to handle him properly.
[00:44:45] I never got this sense that he was a total premedana but now we're having difficulties with him you know Lindy's gone he's still not back and after you know his infamous you know people pay to see me I think he has one goal so.
[00:45:01] I think he's playing injured though but I bet you actually have that Lindy rough is actually enjoying watching the devil's more than anybody right now.
[00:45:08] You know I'm pretty me but.
[00:45:10] Also you got to wonder too you know what you talk about Fitzgerald maybe control when some of the stuff upstairs you know there seems to be the.
[00:45:17] With the whole thing a lot of people were putting the fingers at rough right I like rough can't stand this guy rough yeah but now you have to look at that press conference afterwards and you got to see.
[00:45:25] You know it might have been something from the upper office even who knows I mean that sounds like somebody who would want him you know bench as much as he was.
[00:45:33] You know it's a very easy to know that we're 100% in sync on holds you right and if a client head coach doesn't have full and total control over everything that happens with those players and management gets in and they.
[00:45:47] They might grow manage that is a recipe for disaster 100% of the freaking time it never ever works you have to hire guy you trust and if that guy is not.
[00:45:57] You know you have to be on the same page yet at the same vision for what you want to do with this team you have to you know your general manager and you're thinking about making moves you better sit down with the head coach and you better say okay what do we need.
[00:46:10] What kind of guys do you want to get I might be able to get ABC and D in the head coach gives you his opinion and where they're going to play them and that's about it.
[00:46:17] You got to have a relationship as far as the grand scheme of things beyond the same page but you start micromanaging nothing is going to work.
[00:46:26] You know the whole too many chefs in the kitchen thing and it never ever works ever that to Chris when that came out and I didn't quite put it together.
[00:46:34] You know towards the end like how we're discussing it here but it almost contradicted self in a way so you brought the whole example right Tony good example the flip side of that is.
[00:46:45] You know Fitzgerald really prides himself on what he's brought into this team and I don't think he's the puppet master putting team of my own third line for example.
[00:46:53] So I don't know that it's completely true there might be elements of that and it might just be great.
[00:46:57] But it's 15% or 25% you don't know.
[00:47:00] I do believe it's probably more likely than what Dan said because it's an interim coach and him saying look you know I am only here for 20 something games but I got to be able to run this team for 20 something games.
[00:47:13] And plus like you said before he's auditioning for head coaching job whether it's what the devils are with another team.
[00:47:19] He's had coach in for you know he's interviewing for a job right now these last 14 games.
[00:47:24] Mike Sullivan is the other name they keep on throwing around and Chris we talked about that.
[00:47:28] Yeah, but they keep on here I've heard his name with anybody so far to last couple days.
[00:47:33] I mean you can't take away the guy's success right three Stanley cops he is a very good head coach and maybe two years ago I would have said yeah Mike Sullivan but I don't know I mean it really the head coaching job is going to be a very interesting.
[00:47:50] I think they're going to be a very good coach and they're going to be a good coach and they're going to be a good coach.
[00:47:56] I think you bring in somebody with some experience that can take a look.
[00:48:16] They're going to be quite a few coaching vacancies in the summer there's not going to be any that are as appealing for a head coach than the devils.
[00:48:25] I mean that is you know the Lamborghini of coaching jobs you want it look at this you know the core of this team look at the guys that are here any coach worth their weight and gold is going to look at this team and say I can make this team a Stanley Cup contender and that's exactly what they better be saying.
[00:48:40] I mean you know whether or not Tom Fitzgerald picks him and I don't know how much in partnership has in coaching I'm sure that they do it's a big big higher so it'll be interesting to see how this summer plays out but I think coaching is your number one.
[00:48:56] The goal tender is number two I think you're beefed up forward is number three and I put the defense at four all very important no doubt but I'm saying if you know if you because of the Dougie Hamilton coming back.
[00:49:09] Because Luke is in a small image having another year under their belt they should all be better and maybe you can go out and you know get a guy like I don't know.
[00:49:21] Ryan Graves back or something you know and I'm looking to coaching to solve some of the problems we have with the defense too like I feel like a better coach defense what had done a better job.
[00:49:33] The defense has been so abysmal this year and you know it's not even the players it seems to me that there's just never in the right spot there never like there's something systematically deficient exactly yeah.
[00:49:47] That's right Bob you'll see Ryan Graves and I think about that.
[00:49:50] Yeah actually I was just reading a couple things I guess well marino's not playing tonight Jack used to skate this morning.
[00:49:59] I'm not sure if I use was even going to play tonight.
[00:50:05] She didn't put her lineups out yet.
[00:50:07] No they're not up yet because I think that I got to get a point already.
[00:50:11] He's just he did on his own and he is available for tonight but that doesn't mean he's communicating.
[00:50:18] He's been here as I didn't show up to he wasn't at the small skates so I don't know.
[00:50:21] Yeah so he's not got to play tonight I would I would be surprised if he gets an online up tonight there's something going on with them because.
[00:50:28] It's the only thing that makes sense like this dude dropped off a cliff man he has done nothing to help this team get into the play also if he is.
[00:50:36] We are still see the skills he has he comes in with the puck he can make moves nobody else can but then it just you know there's a turnover and it's just not following through.
[00:50:45] Yeah it's he's not himself.
[00:50:47] No he's not so he's he's injured and he needs that soldier surgery surgically repaired then put him on the table now get it done get him right there.
[00:50:57] Yes you're still getting him healthy and he's a turnover definitely.
[00:51:00] So yeah especially if it's that dire where it's actually need surgery not just rest I mean what are you doing.
[00:51:06] If that's the case it's kind of been chronic right I mean in last year or three now it's just a three out with that shoulder.
[00:51:13] Yeah so you gotta do something.
[00:51:15] Whether like you said if he needs the surgery then go do it now and you know the last 14 games it is what it is but.
[00:51:24] Yep and shoulders are a motherfucker they take a long time to come back from.
[00:51:28] And but if this if it's Gerald doesn't fuck up this summer like he fucked up this year we should be right back at it next year I mean we should be a really good team and be able to do all the things that we want to do and hopefully this season is just a hiccup.
[00:51:42] And they can move past it.
[00:51:44] That's a very interesting crisp that we're not talking about the get you think about it like we're at that point of the season now all four of us where we know that like even tonight's episode we're talking about a lot of things outside of the game tonight when that game would have been like the.
[00:51:59] You know we always now and on those points but it's come to that.
[00:52:03] We're no longer going to say like the next game is the biggest game.
[00:52:07] I don't see a single game the only one I'm looking forward to is able to third with the Rangers and that's just more of a like are you going to have some kind of guts some kind of team cohesiveness to come back against that you know that team.
[00:52:22] That says a lot about you make a statement for next year that's the only thing left on the schedule that I feel like.
[00:52:28] Is it somewhat meaningful.
[00:52:31] Yeah maybe something will evolve but.
[00:52:33] You know what I mean, I'm going to be watching it's going to be fun to watch hockey but I hope it's you know I and again like you got 14 games left we know they're not making the playoffs but at least trying finish strong.
[00:52:44] At least give the guys a little something to feel that about themselves going into the summer because really I mean there's been like no joy on that team whatsoever.
[00:52:54] They have just been you know you've seen maybe maybe five or six times this whole year where you saw glimpses where you thought this is the team that we need to be and then it goes right back into the fucking garbage can.
[00:53:06] It's it's so mind boggling what's going on with this team and poor Nico he's got to get out there every single day and answer the same stupid questions about this team I feel bad for a man where if some night he's just the only guy out there trying.
[00:53:22] You know I don't know but I hope we win tonight.
[00:53:26] I hope Jake Allen gets a shot out.
[00:53:28] I hope Jack Hughes plays and gets a hat trick.
[00:53:30] You know that's what I mean build off something but our big guys have not shown up in any way this year.
[00:53:36] And not once it's whole year right you have enough to have that I mean I don't know what each one of you guys but not once have I been like man this team is hot not one there hasn't been one period of time.
[00:53:45] But I think they've won more than three games this year and around.
[00:53:48] They haven't and they don't do that two or three times.
[00:53:50] And we've had stretches where one or two players are hot on their own like team of Meyer was like Jack was for low-out but it hasn't translated throughout the whole team to a long winning streak.
[00:54:01] A lot of guys who were never hot this year.
[00:54:03] And you know what you know how you.
[00:54:05] Yeah, but you brought up before like how your.
[00:54:08] And you know, a little brawl on how much this team misses Dougie Hamilton.
[00:54:12] I think this team misses Michael McLeod a lot too.
[00:54:15] Yeah, yeah.
[00:54:16] You know and just because we didn't we didn't have anyone that even come in to try and replace him to at least try and.
[00:54:22] You know give us those minutes and those faceoffs and stuff we just didn't he was just.
[00:54:26] Yeah, wasn't just Mikey McLeod the fourth line or right it was Mike McLeod come in take the face off with their offensive draw get off the ice and have more his own time.
[00:54:35] And he got to that I mean when he got before he got arrested I mean this dude was the best in the league and face off.
[00:54:41] I mean that's huge.
[00:54:43] And that helps you win so many you know at least possession battles and things like that we don't have it.
[00:54:50] You know, they you know, Nico's our best face off guy.
[00:54:53] I think he's in like the top 15 or so in the league he's a great face off guy but Michael McLeod was on a different level when it came to face off.
[00:55:00] Yeah, yeah.
[00:55:01] I mean, like the league.
[00:55:02] Yeah, so I mean that hurt him and how much did that fuck with their their heads.
[00:55:07] But I think yeah there's an invention cloud over there's been nothing.
[00:55:11] Positive right.
[00:55:12] Yeah, so all year long it's just like one thing after another just beat them down on the head.
[00:55:16] That McLeod cloud was part of it is a bit part of that and then in just watching lindy kind of unravel you know that was a big negative.
[00:55:24] And then you know the injuries were a thing you're definitely upset that you couldn't get any continuity.
[00:55:30] But I was even more upset that like they it seemed like even early on there were willing to let that be a reason for them.
[00:55:38] You know, it's just fall apart like all this guys out and they didn't pull together during the year.
[00:55:43] That's something that can happen.
[00:55:44] That's all about the first day and absolutely there's a lot of about coaching too.
[00:55:48] I guess this you on this team though, I think is but even what are the other night right you see our guy on the ground and just didn't see their responses come in you know I mean it's just the way has been all year.
[00:55:57] It was the way it was even kind of last year too you know and I mean this year really bad though.
[00:56:02] I think that the number one thing that killed this team was the heart in a lot of way.
[00:56:05] Yeah, I think that you know you got a lot of pieces we talked about it on the last show a lot but you got a lot of pieces that you can move around to better this team.
[00:56:16] Get stuck in you know if it's cannot get stuck in this well I just were brought is my guy and your daughter mergers my guy and we're going to do whatever and we're going to keep no if you can better your team you move off of those people.
[00:56:30] Quickly, you know you say okay it's not working and you move on that's the only way that you're going to be able to keep your head above water because if they have another if next season is like this season.
[00:56:41] Not only are we you know.
[00:56:43] I mean that could set this team back like years years from you know a Stanley Cup contender going in this year to again dumpster fire for the next three or four years.
[00:56:55] We would love to get yep good.
[00:56:57] So we talked a lot about Lema Rolo and what he was willing to do you know any junction at any point in the season to do a winning move.
[00:57:04] People forget he was like a father to brodor and he went in and brought in Schneider when Brodor still had a contract on this team yeah that's what this guy did he came in and basically said hey the best going in the world is about to not be the best anymore so I had to get somebody else yeah like that's moxie.
[00:57:18] And you know listen back in December Lou would have had lindy russ head on a spike outside of the provincial center.
[00:57:24] You would have been on the bench coast as a warning.
[00:57:26] Yeah, I was wondering if it's Gerald my coming and coach you know that would have been something to put his money where his mouth is so to speak but not that drive screen is a bad option but.
[00:57:38] One thing I would want to know from Fitzgerald is what was the deal with the you know the using some of the money from the long term injuries.
[00:57:48] Why did we not go down that road, you know and I'd be honest with you I'm a little ignorant of some of the details on this but they're like I figured it was 13 teams over the cap nothing happens like what were we worried about why we didn't make a move earlier on with that injury money that Dougie Hamilton money.
[00:58:06] Stuff that was never going to come back on the ledger anyway and some stuff that was maybe if you it we could have made some moves for this year because I still felt like.
[00:58:14] As bad as this season's gone a couple months like a month and a half ago even month and a half ago this team was salvageable I believe that to my core that it was salvageable not anymore but it was.
[00:58:26] Tom I think that you can put the blame there's I don't have an answer for that I don't have an answer why you just let that money go by by and you did and as soon as it was available to you didn't.
[00:58:35] Go out and try and make a move land hand and land those land kind of in make it deal with Jacob parks from.
[00:58:42] Marks on the hand of him in December you know you have the money you have some trade capital move off of it.
[00:58:49] I have no answers to that but like.
[00:58:53] That's the thing that really makes me nervous like where was he this entire first half of the season because yeah he completely.
[00:59:01] Forgan dropped the ball and you left almost 10 million dollars on the table you put a button yourself a couple of nice pieces and no this team this team was not dead the rights in January.
[00:59:13] When you should have been making those moves but they're dead the rights now even when you made the moves it was over.
[00:59:18] Like it was over like you know Travis Green is not a bad option but he was the only option.
[00:59:23] I think by the time they the trade deadline hit and Travis Green was to coach we were already looking at like a 10 to 15% chance of making the play.
[00:59:31] Right which is really starting behind the table.
[00:59:33] 100%.
[00:59:35] Did any of you guys hear about the new rule changes they put in place tonight?
[00:59:40] No it's that.
[00:59:41] Bobby have you heard anything in this?
[00:59:43] Just what are you talking about?
[00:59:44] There's some new and any child rule changes?
[00:59:46] Yeah well I guess it's going to go into next season maybe but I see acts as a bunch of shit on it right now.
[00:59:51] I guess they're missing here.
[00:59:54] Tell me they're not going to wait with all sides.
[00:59:57] Yeah I think they're keeping over time the same which sucks because they wanted to go to a 7 minute one I think they're going to keep it at five is one of the things.
[01:00:04] There's a bunch of stuff I think.
[01:00:06] So these are just like thoughts of new rule changes for next season.
[01:00:10] Yeah but I think they got past today.
[01:00:12] I think they actually got past now you shouldn't the summer what's the point of it now?
[01:00:15] I think they did it owner meetings and stuff now.
[01:00:18] I don't know but whatever.
[01:00:21] So before we wrap it up we do have doubles penguins tonight at 7.
[01:00:26] You guys anybody willing to go on a limb here and score wise what are we doing?
[01:00:30] Too nothing doubles.
[01:00:32] Then get that shut up.
[01:00:34] What is that?
[01:00:35] I think it would be a score high scoring game this one I'm going to say.
[01:00:40] Six to four doubles.
[01:00:43] Double okay doubles without two.
[01:00:46] You guys pick and doubles the win.
[01:00:48] But I actually do think the doubles in the win this game.
[01:00:50] I think they might actually win two games this week so I'll give them you know the old four two win.
[01:00:56] I'll be the Debbie downer here.
[01:00:59] I'll say three one we lose empty neck goal.
[01:01:03] We'll have it you know two one going in third we'll pull like the last one.
[01:01:08] Like every game yeah we pull out and then we score the empty netter.
[01:01:11] So that's it.
[01:01:12] I was actually going to make a prediction this week that the doubles would score with their goalie pulled.
[01:01:19] But I actually forgot about it so just now.
[01:01:21] We've been very successful about that all year.
[01:01:23] You really have we really have I mean how long have we even gotten one I'm sure we have the most empty net goals against us and any.
[01:01:31] Yeah it's been brutal.
[01:01:33] It must be yeah.
[01:01:34] Well it doesn't help when you're pulling your goal with five missed last.
[01:01:37] That and we just haven't had the puck possession when we needed it.
[01:01:40] You know we have not had that control because we don't for check we are just we're zone entries we bump it in and then it's back out and then we're tracing it again.
[01:01:48] I'd say there's this team is just very weak and very you know what they feel like to me.
[01:01:54] They're very easy team to play against.
[01:01:56] Yeah yeah.
[01:01:57] Yeah.
[01:01:58] They're passive.
[01:01:59] Yeah.
[01:02:00] When you play the hurricanes the Rangers the Bruins is like you know that you're in for a fight for 60 minutes.
[01:02:04] You know it's like if you're going to pull on any points it's going to be because you worked your ass off very very seldom is because they're handing you anything.
[01:02:11] And I just feel like we are the easiest team in the league to play against.
[01:02:15] Right.
[01:02:16] When we played Dallas last week I kind of felt like Dallas was handing us one of their easier games.
[01:02:21] Yeah.
[01:02:22] For once we actually took advantage of it.
[01:02:24] But if you look the way we play if you look at us like as the other team,
[01:02:29] they're so often we're not giving you a hard game to play.
[01:02:32] We might explode for some scoring out of nowhere.
[01:02:35] But where are some games where we won't like we're not really dominating but we get some great scoring especially earlier on in the season.
[01:02:41] And we somehow win that game.
[01:02:43] How many games did we put a 60 minute effort together where we were like really hard team to play against?
[01:02:48] That did not happen much.
[01:02:50] I'm going to say like less than 10 times.
[01:02:52] Yeah.
[01:02:53] Yeah.
[01:02:54] It's crazy that we're I mean we're a 500 team like exactly but technically four of the time.
[01:02:58] Like we're four games will have 500 this team.
[01:03:01] Right.
[01:03:02] It's ridiculous.
[01:03:03] It's I mean it really is like just unacceptable on so many levels with the talent on this team and the year that you have last year is unacceptable.
[01:03:13] And listen.
[01:03:14] I do think that Fitzgerald is a smart man and one of the things that smart people do is learn from their mistakes.
[01:03:20] I do think he's going to do that.
[01:03:21] And I think he's also going to have to really reach down inside and say.
[01:03:25] Literally the time is now whatever assets I have to do when I think will truly bring a Stanley cup to New Jersey.
[01:03:31] This is the year to empty the tank who cares if the age L teams depleted for the next five years.
[01:03:36] Karen club is winning for the next five years.
[01:03:38] That's all anyone's going to care about and then you worry about that shit down the road.
[01:03:42] Yeah.
[01:03:43] Yeah.
[01:03:44] Yeah.
[01:03:45] Absolutely right.
[01:03:46] So anything else you guys want to talk about before we wrap it up this evening?
[01:03:49] No.
[01:03:50] Okay.
[01:03:51] And by the way, I think those are proposed rule changes for next season.
[01:03:54] So I'm going to accept for one.
[01:03:55] I think one went through actually something about the players are able to like hang their legs over the boards now or something like that.
[01:04:02] Or they'll do it more.
[01:04:03] Yeah.
[01:04:04] That's a good board.
[01:04:06] So I'm going to say that.
[01:04:07] It gets a slash and a ding ding at a hurt.
[01:04:10] All right.
[01:04:11] Well, we're going to wrap it up for tonight wherever you are checking us out.
[01:04:14] Give us a like if I have some review a positive comment.
[01:04:17] A subscription to download really does help us out.
[01:04:20] And if you want to go back and listen to any of our old shows, you can find everything along with a whole bunch of other stuff on the UnclePuffers.com website.
[01:04:28] That probably just put together for us.
[01:04:30] It has all of our shows.
[01:04:31] You can listen to some really fun shows that we did during the playoff series last year against the Rangers and against the Cains.
[01:04:38] And even though the show we did the night that we were eliminated from the playoff.
[01:04:42] That was a lot of fun even though I'm going to go back in eventually.
[01:04:45] And I'm going to put the set of just the one spotlight episode that we have now, which was the gym doubt interview.
[01:04:50] I'm going to put kind of our top five.
[01:04:52] Some of the ones who are really gained a lot of traction and a lot of laughs will put them up there so people could find it.
[01:04:56] You know, you know, has to go on to the panel.
[01:04:58] So photos.
[01:04:59] Yeah.
[01:05:00] If you want to go back and listen to some of that, you know, it's there for you.
[01:05:04] And we appreciate you guys and go enjoy the devils tonight.
[01:05:08] Hopefully they give us a one tonight against the penguins for Dan Bobby and Tony.
[01:05:11] I'm Chris.
[01:05:12] We are the Uncle Poppers and we'll see you on the scene.
[01:05:14] Hope to see you.
[01:05:15] Bye bye.
