[00:06:49] I basically fast forwarded the rest of the game because it was just abysmal and I felt like mistakes.

[00:10:08] it is I like about Alex holds and it seems to me like he really is working on everything that they want him to work on
[00:10:18] to be a better player he doesn't seem like a guy that just kind of brushes things off or doesn't take or just you know

[00:10:31] have to do when board battles I don't have to do all that some young guys are and he's not and he seems to be getting better and I think
[00:10:38] Travis Green has been a better influence for him a lot better than then Lindy rough I think with holds you know I mean I
[00:10:46] think he's gonna be good no matter where he winds up and that's I don't want to see him go somewhere else and be really
[00:10:51] because I do think it's an I mean I didn't think this the beginning of the year watching him play this year I've seen some things with him
[00:10:56] you know someone's terribly terrible no but I mean I would love to stay here and play great you know I mean yeah I just
[00:11:04] just get a little bit better defensively on the puck he's making a couple mistakes that are not like he doesn't care
[00:11:10] but it's like I think you know that maybe it's Ottawa it was a little bit lazy was a little bit like thoughtless you know he's going
[00:11:17] to he's coming off the after ice for a line change and yeah even though you're coming off the ice for a line change you
[00:11:23] know I'm done you're not done there's a pass up the boards and you just kind of like you know let it go by when
[00:11:30] the man was trying to hit you with it and it ended up being a turnover that ended up being a goal it was that kind of
[00:11:36] do that well you know it's one of those things that even a great player is going to make a mistake like that once in a
[00:11:42] while and I'm just picking on that one mistakes it's a little out of context but I think there's some like maturity on the defensive
[00:11:48] side of the puck you know if you look at his game and like somebody who's got that defensive side down really well
[00:11:52] like Nico you can see the difference you know and so you know if he evolves that way where he's got a better
[00:11:58] two-way game he's going to be that much more successful because he definitely has the scoring touch and he's a hard worker I
[00:12:04] do want him to work out for us he has to work hard too because he has to know that they're office you know we heard like
[00:12:09] with the press conferences like two weeks ago right it's a bit of pressure there there's the look the outlook
[00:12:16] on Holtz is not always so positive when you talk to our coaches or or the GM you know
[00:12:21] I was told that's my age and get me the hell out of here I want to be like they want him there's the way it sounds
[00:12:27] how does this work into a young player psyche who's the main guy that's been talked about on the trade
[00:12:33] block for over the last two years it's been him so every year this dude's like I don't know where I'm going to end up
[00:12:39] here and these guys want me to do a b c d and x he seems to be doing it I mean he seems like I said he's
[00:12:46] willing to learn he is getting better I think he has a good upside I would actually prefer to see him go someplace else
[00:12:54] and really turn into a gold scoring threat and become a good player and find his spot kind of like Sharon Govich did in Calgary
[00:13:01] because I just don't know if the deficits that this team needs and you're going to have to go out
[00:13:07] and make some moves I just don't know if Holtz I would love for him to stay here I'll be honest with you
[00:13:12] but I have a feeling that like Tom Fitzgerald's gonna try and you know he'll give up anything to get a number one goal
[00:13:17] he's a summer and I think he's going to be wrapping Holtz up and putting a bow on his head and telling every team
[00:13:23] look what you got you know check out the tape on Holtz he's our main trade chip and we'll see I would prefer maybe
[00:13:29] think about getting a free agent guy and maybe keeping Holtz and working mostly on your back end
[00:13:35] and kind of mixing up that bottom six a little bit and getting some you know a little bit more skill and depth back there
[00:13:41] and you know maybe keep him I think he has a lot of upside
[00:13:46] Bob yeah I mean first of all he's definitely the player that other GMs would probably salivate over going
[00:13:53] hey I can mold this guy I know what the problems are and you know we can fix that
[00:13:57] and to a degree they probably really can although at some point a player is who the player is going to be
[00:14:03] but he can't get better I could not sit here now and defend some of the mistakes he's made other than to say
[00:14:09] we're forgetting he's like still a rookie you know and he's doing really well and he has dealt with more shit
[00:14:14] as a player than I can ever recall having his name specifically put out there in some of these press conferences
[00:14:20] that have just referencing the youth or other mistakes it does seem like he's getting an unfair share
[00:14:26] it still is odd to me that our fans in general just seem like really divided on Holtz right now
[00:14:32] to the point where it's like anger about hey this guy is sucks how can you not see that and the other ones who say
[00:14:39] no he's really great he's somewhere in the middle I think he's extremely talented prospect
[00:14:44] I think he can on the right team whether that be with us if he's down the road or somewhere else like a wester
[00:14:50] I honestly could see this guy putting up 40 goals doesn't mean he's not going to be a minus 30 you know
[00:14:54] but it's something he can do you want to work your homegrown people and see if it kind of works out long term
[00:15:02] but it doesn't always do that we were all happy when the fully came here we said oh my god
[00:15:07] we're getting another 30 goal score this is going to be awesome to fully get his job so nothing against him
[00:15:12] that had a lot to do with the rest of the team being broken I've been saying this in the middle of the year
[00:15:16] like there's just too many of these people going on here something's got to give turned out we got rid of him
[00:15:21] will Holtz become another one of those players where it's like I can't have you just scoring 30-40 goals
[00:15:27] and playing like defensive crap I don't know but I think he deserves a little more time to figure it out

[00:15:39] a lot of negative this year with this team and a lot of negative on this show when they are doing bad
[00:15:44] but there are there are a lot of positives to take away this year
[00:15:48] and the main one of the main ones is just this and we can maybe throw Alex Holtz
[00:15:56] in this category if they had managed him differently but look at where Luke Hughes and Shimon Names were
[00:16:02] now they both started different times in the season Luke has played I think pretty much every game
[00:16:06] I think he's played all 72 and Shimon Names came in when like when Doug Yamilton went down around December
[00:16:11] November whatever the 20-something maybe yeah so he played a nice chunk and you know they went through their stretches
[00:16:17] especially back in like December and January when the devils couldn't get out of their own way
[00:16:22] and especially Luke Hughes was getting a lot of shit from fans
[00:16:25] Shimon Names was making mistakes and these you know little by little playing
[00:16:29] being coached good, being put in the right positions to succeed
[00:16:32] and then changing their game up look how much better they both looked in just these last two to three weeks
[00:16:39] now what is Holtz playing like Bobby said with Jack Hughes all season
[00:16:45] how many goals does he have you know I mean can you work and do you work on oh does this all around game
[00:16:50] kind of come into play a little bit better than getting for the majority of the season five minutes
[00:16:55] a night on the fourth line with Lindy Ruff coaching it's really hard to gauge a guy
[00:17:00] and then he gets thrown up into the second you know second top six with you know
[00:17:04] last two weeks three weeks and we expect this guy to be a top six skilled forward
[00:17:10] he hasn't played up here. You're also saying he's got all these defensive liabilities
[00:17:14] so you know what we're gonna do K we're gonna put you out on like these defensive lines
[00:17:17] where we just want you to help kind of control and shut down the puck
[00:17:20] and you're gonna do it in limited minutes it's also that's a hard thing too
[00:17:23] he's not on the first line where they're saying go get me one
[00:17:26] they're saying we need to we need to pull you back right here
[00:17:29] and you know they talked about it on the broadcast and the penguin game
[00:17:32] he made that really bad no look pass up the boards without you know

[00:18:02] you have to you know occasionally just telling somebody all the shit they're doing wrong

[00:37:56] opposite of Lindy Ruff is his willingness to change things that aren't working.
[00:38:01] And I found that like I thought Lindy Ruff was extremely stubborn with certain things.
[00:38:06] And just it was absolutely we're just going to keep on doing it and keep on doing it the exact same
[00:38:11] way. And hope that things change. He's very quick to go off of things.
[00:38:15] And I know Lindy Ruff was big on juggling his lines, but I think that was the only thing he changed
[00:38:21] the formula. Yeah. And that was what you know, just I thought made things even more confusing
[00:38:27] throughout the course of a game. So I like that there seems to be some more stability with this team.
[00:38:31] You know, I have no issues with Travis Green so far. He hasn't thought it's definitely too small
[00:38:37] of a sample to like really base a long decision on and we're not going to get a real long enough
[00:38:42] for the only 10 more games. But you know, I could see him being considered.
[00:38:46] So especially if it goes well from here on out.
[00:38:49] You know, regardless of what happens and even the fact that our old nightmares came back like
[00:38:54] flubbing to Arizona the other day, there's a sense right that if this all of this would have been
[00:39:01] done before we wouldn't be here. Like we're still going to have a game or two where you screw up
[00:39:06] and no one's going to win out and all that kind of stuff. But there really is kind of a sense like wow
[00:39:10] this what really could have been. And he's a part of that. It really does all.
[00:39:14] Part of that went in three out of four is average basically. And that's good.
[00:39:19] You never really felt that during the season if we went three out of four where we're like
[00:39:24] we're here. We're back. Like we all said it. It feels like we're about to say we're back but

[00:42:06] Like yes, there are problems across the board. But if Tom Fitzgerald just pulled the trigger,
[00:42:12] maybe even just as soon as two weeks before to trade that line for something as minimal
[00:42:16] as getting Jake Allen in the building, I think maybe things could be different.

[00:57:33] i know we sit on them once or twice as far as the type of goals he's scoring in this and that
[00:57:37] and or i think that's more out of frustration because we look at the whole team and say there's
[00:57:41] three four five key guys when this is happening just give us a goal give us something you know
[00:57:46] to cheer about move the team forward and we won't really see in that but if he can be the player
[00:57:52] we're seeing now consistently and by consistently that really means most of the time right no one's
[00:57:58] going to do it all the time then we have a hell of a player i have i have a lot of hope for him i mean
[00:58:03] i think they're different players but like in some ways he reminds me a little bit of Peter
[00:58:07] Sikora when he first came on he was responsible defensively and everything because he had to be
[00:58:12] in that system but he he wasn't like necessarily the clutch goal score and we've complained about
[00:58:18] is brat there with those beautiful goals in clutch time Sikora turned out to be a clutch goal
[00:58:24] he definitely did as he evolved with the team so hopefully that's you know something that
[00:58:28] we're going to see brat do and hopefully there's a lot more clutch goals to be had this year
[00:58:34] and he delivers them because that's that's been the knock hopefully uh that's what changes i remember
