After an OTL to the bad guys in NY, the Devils head home to take on the Lightning. Garbage Goalie Of The Week. Nemec or Casey (or both)?
[00:00:05] Hey everyone, Mr. Devil here, Kenny Danico, three-time Stanley Cup champion of the New Jersey Devils
[00:00:11] and you're listening to The Uncle Puckers NJD Podcast. Let's go Devils!
[00:00:21] Well hey.
[00:00:21] Alright, what's up?
[00:00:23] Not much. What's up with you guys?
[00:00:27] Living the dream. Loving that last hockey game. Can't believe it worked out for us.
[00:00:32] It was perfect.
[00:00:34] Alright, so you're talking about last night's Ranger game that the Devils dropped 3-2 in overtime.
[00:00:40] So I guess, small talk aside, I guess we should just jump right into the deep end of the pool
[00:00:46] and we'll start with that game.
[00:00:48] We can do a little grab-ass.
[00:00:52] No, Bobby ruined it. Four plays over. We're just fucking, we're raw-dogging it now.
[00:00:56] We're just getting right in there.
[00:00:57] This is it. This is, you know, this is no oil necessary. We're just,
[00:01:02] going to fuck the town.
[00:01:02] I take one show off and then I fuck up the whole rhythm.
[00:01:06] It's true.
[00:01:07] So, um, I wish Dan were here.
[00:01:11] But anyway, Bobby is.
[00:01:13] So, uh...
[00:01:15] That's good.
[00:01:16] As far as that game, like...
[00:01:19] Last show was great with Dan and no Bobby.
[00:01:22] Geez.
[00:01:22] Wasn't it awesome? It was a great show.
[00:01:24] Oh, look at the eject button.
[00:01:25] Yeah.
[00:01:27] Yeah.
[00:01:28] Yeah.
[00:01:28] And, uh...
[00:01:28] So, going to that game, like, it sucks losing to the Rangers.
[00:01:33] It sucks when the Devils lose at all and losing to the Rangers is, you know, especially shitty.
[00:01:39] But I don't...
[00:01:41] I'm not going to feel too bad about that.
[00:01:43] I mean, coming off of that West Coast trip, it was a really long road trip.
[00:01:48] I thought they played with a lot of energy.
[00:01:51] I thought they controlled, especially five-on-five play for most of the game.
[00:01:57] Um...
[00:01:57] They didn't get as many great looks as I would have liked to have seen.
[00:02:01] I mean, Marky was most definitely the...
[00:02:03] The more stellar goaltender.
[00:02:06] Had to make the more acrobatic, you know, big-time saves than Piggy Iggy.
[00:02:13] But...
[00:02:13] It sucks losing the game, but I'm not going to shit on him too much about that effort.
[00:02:18] Because I thought the effort was there.
[00:02:20] So, I'm curious what you guys think.
[00:02:24] I'll go.
[00:02:25] I mean, yeah, I'll say that the effort was there.
[00:02:28] But I actually thought it was pretty sloppy.
[00:02:31] First and third period specifically.
[00:02:34] Again, maybe not for lack of effort, but more on the execution side.
[00:02:39] Falling down a lot.
[00:02:40] Missing plays.
[00:02:41] Miss reading.
[00:02:42] And, you know, passes that were off the mark.
[00:02:44] It just didn't feel like anything really good was going to come out of it.
[00:02:48] But to their credit, five-on-five play, they did control.
[00:02:51] They had a chance to win the game.
[00:02:53] I just really thought, like I said, first and third specifically, I thought, just looked really sloppy.
[00:02:57] And look, I mean, I knew from minute one that Jack had his foot on the gas a little too hard for this game.
[00:03:05] What wound up happening in the overtime period?
[00:03:09] It is what it is.
[00:03:10] Like, you're not going to take that away from Jack.
[00:03:12] You know what I mean?
[00:03:12] That's the way he's going to go.
[00:03:13] He talked about it.
[00:03:14] He owned it up a little bit.
[00:03:15] He knows maybe he could be a little smarter.
[00:03:17] But you're not going to take that aggressiveness away from Jack anyway.
[00:03:20] But I did notice it throughout the whole game that he was really trying to take this game over on his own.
[00:03:26] And it showed up.
[00:03:27] And it did kind of hurt us in the end.
[00:03:30] But I would never care if Jack's going to give that kind of effort.
[00:03:33] I mean, before you jump in, Tim, I just want to just about that.
[00:03:37] Like, I absolutely agree with you.
[00:03:41] And there were even times before that overtime that, you know, I'm kind of just saying to my TV, like, just let everyone else do what they're going to do here, Jack.
[00:03:49] You know, he's got to be in every single play.
[00:03:53] Like, there were even a couple of times where, like, passes, like, coming out of the defensive zone and coming into the neutral zone.
[00:04:00] Like, you know, they kind of take it slow.
[00:04:02] And they'd like to get Jack to kind of bring it in.
[00:04:05] But there were a couple of times that, like, the pass was going to, like, a defenseman or going to Brad where he just kind of scooped up and took it.
[00:04:12] And you can kind of tell, like, you know, that he's like, no, I'm the fucking man.
[00:04:16] And he is the man.
[00:04:17] Right.
[00:04:18] And, you know, I love him.
[00:04:20] But there are certain he's got to just kind of learn that you can't do it all by yourself.
[00:04:25] That's why that there's a team.
[00:04:26] And, you know, but when you're that good, you're the best player out there.
[00:04:32] It's hard.
[00:04:32] Like, Tim, when you play, you know, beer league hockey, like, I'm sure everybody else is better than you.
[00:04:39] So you kind of just, you know, you know, kind of let them, you know, run the show a little bit more.
[00:04:45] You take more of a backseat.
[00:04:47] You're more of a passenger.
[00:04:48] And not just on the ice, more on this podcast and probably in life in general.
[00:04:53] So everybody's taller than me.
[00:04:59] Go right.
[00:05:03] I can't wait.
[00:05:05] I can't wait until your dick disappears so deep inside your chest cavity that you never see it again.
[00:05:10] You know what?
[00:05:11] There's such a good chance it's going to happen, too.
[00:05:13] And we'll explain that in a second.
[00:05:15] But first, by all means.
[00:05:17] Well, after that rousing introduction.
[00:05:20] Come on.
[00:05:21] You only hurt the ones you love, Tim.
[00:05:26] And, you know, I agree with both of you.
[00:05:27] You know, I think one of the things that I'm looking for in games, you know, they completely kind of lost their way.
[00:05:35] The back-to-back to Carolina and the back-to-back to Anaheim and then L.A.
[00:05:40] You know, that was, you know, full schedule guy.
[00:05:44] I would have liked to see them get that Ducks game.
[00:05:46] That sucked.
[00:05:47] But then they're in San Jose.
[00:05:48] And then in Seattle, their game started to come back a little bit in certain stretches.
[00:05:53] But there's still that sloppiness there.
[00:05:55] So, what I was looking for is kind of is the process getting back to the way it was.
[00:06:00] Or, you know, kind of what is the identity of this team.
[00:06:03] And through the first two periods, they were much better defensively.
[00:06:08] And much better at kind of controlling the play.
[00:06:12] Particularly five-on-five, like you mentioned.
[00:06:13] You know, we'll get into the power play and the penalty kill in a little bit.
[00:06:16] But, you know, they really – they basically kept the Rangers to under almost half an expected goal at five-on-five for the first two periods.
[00:06:29] Their second period in particular was really strong.
[00:06:31] I thought from about seven, eight minutes into the period through the end of it, they didn't give up a single expected goal.
[00:06:38] Or didn't – you know, the Rangers didn't register enough to get even registered an expected goal on five-on-five.
[00:06:43] So, that was pretty good.
[00:06:44] But the wheels just absolutely fell off in the third period.
[00:06:47] The beginning of that third period was some of the worst stretch of hockey I've seen them play.
[00:06:52] Like, the first ten minutes, they were just pinned in the zone just chasing shit around.
[00:06:58] And it was awful.
[00:06:59] I have no idea what happened to their game.
[00:07:02] But they got out of it.
[00:07:03] And they kind of locked it down for the last couple minutes.
[00:07:06] And really, I don't know if we necessarily deserved to get that overtime point, to be honest.
[00:07:10] But they got it.
[00:07:11] And, you know, I think the process is getting back to being better.
[00:07:15] And you can see that in some of their sort of moving averages, some of their metric charts.
[00:07:20] Like, they're kind of back on the upswing after going down.
[00:07:23] Honestly, I hate to blame a road trip.
[00:07:25] But I think the way that road trip and that schedule in particular kind of worked itself out.
[00:07:30] So, I think a lot can be laid at the feet of the schedule guy.
[00:07:34] But you can't necessarily use that as an excuse, but it can be a reason.
[00:07:38] Well, it's like the old adage, right?
[00:07:40] If you're going to suck, suck on the road.
[00:07:42] And the Devils kind of did that.
[00:07:45] You know, possible 12 points.
[00:07:46] We walked away with three.
[00:07:47] That's not a very positive or, you know, good-looking road trip.
[00:07:52] But at the same time, like, I thought that the way that they played for most of the Ranger game, I just –
[00:07:59] it's so easy to come back from these road trips out west.
[00:08:02] And they're long.
[00:08:03] You know, you're out there for six games.
[00:08:05] You're out there for almost, what, a week and a half, two weeks.
[00:08:08] You know, you're not home.
[00:08:09] And then you still – you're like almost home, but you're not home because, you know,
[00:08:13] you can stand at MSG and most of the guys can see their condos from there.
[00:08:18] And it's like – but we're still not home.
[00:08:20] You're probably more annoyed that you're in New York.
[00:08:21] Right.
[00:08:22] You know.
[00:08:23] I thought they played for the last game of that road trip, which was a tough one.
[00:08:28] You know, and also, like you mentioned, like, the scheduling, Tim.
[00:08:32] You've got to also remember where this road trip fell, like, right after the holidays.
[00:08:36] Like, you know, this is also a time where you probably wanted to be home a little bit more.
[00:08:41] You know, you have, you know, your family coming and friends coming.
[00:08:44] You're constantly busy.
[00:08:45] And then, oh, yeah, we have to play hockey during all this.
[00:08:49] So, I think the road trip – I'm glad that – I feel like we kind of got fucked in the schedule since game one.
[00:08:55] But now, hopefully, you know, it's behind us.
[00:08:59] But, yeah, I mean, it just sucks losing to the fucking Rangers.
[00:09:03] And I really – I thought that they were winning this game.
[00:09:06] I thought come over time that they were going to bury it and it was just going to be another W against the Rangers and move on.
[00:09:14] I hate that we even gave them fucking two points.
[00:09:17] I hate it.
[00:09:18] I think we've got to come to grips with the fact that we're not the three-on-three Dynamo we used to be.
[00:09:24] I think we all just keep – I'm still in that mindset.
[00:09:26] As soon as it goes over time, oh, we're money.
[00:09:29] Have we won?
[00:09:30] At all this year.
[00:09:31] I think we're one and three or something.
[00:09:34] Did we even win one?
[00:09:36] We have won, yeah.
[00:09:38] But to your point, Bobby, it's like Jack should be a cheat code in three-on-three.
[00:09:44] But I think that kind of the game that he was having, making some poor decisions – and he had a bad first period.
[00:09:52] I didn't really notice him all that much in the third.
[00:09:54] But those mistakes in overtime, he's trying to kind of make up for it and trying to probably take this I own the Rangers thing a little too much.
[00:10:03] And he owned up for it.
[00:10:04] But you want your best players to do best player shit.
[00:10:06] So I'm kind of okay with him pushing the envelope at five-on-five and in overtime doing that.
[00:10:14] Where I did have a problem with it was on the power play.
[00:10:17] A power play is designed to be a man advantage and not be twice on zone entries.
[00:10:24] He tried to go one-on-four.
[00:10:26] And you just – use Brad.
[00:10:29] Use Nason.
[00:10:30] That's the design zone entry.
[00:10:32] I get you're trying to kind of do things maybe a little bit differently because our power play has been a little bit off.
[00:10:38] But trying to play hero ball at that point, I just don't – I think that was pretty misguided.
[00:10:43] And it's funny because Jack doesn't do that a ton or at least I don't notice it a ton.
[00:10:49] But I think a lot of the hype against the Rangers and it being who it is, this, you know, the biggest rivalry.
[00:10:55] All everybody talks about is how Jack owns the Rangers.
[00:10:59] And I think there is a little bit of that, you know, I'm going to kind of dive into that mystique and that persona as the Ranger killer.
[00:11:08] Like, look what I can do.
[00:11:09] So, and, you know, you do enough, but you have to depend on the other four guys out there with you.
[00:11:14] That's all.
[00:11:15] And I thought, especially on the power play, Tim, I completely forgot about that until you say at least two or three times.
[00:11:22] Yeah.
[00:11:22] It was Jack on four.
[00:11:24] And it's like that's not a recipe for success.
[00:11:27] I think they even said it on the broadcast, right?
[00:11:29] Like, okay, you know, do it once or so just to kind of give a different look and a different entry.
[00:11:33] Maybe throw the Rangers off a little bit.
[00:11:34] But it was really kind of a bad idea.
[00:11:37] And then to do it again.
[00:11:38] Yeah.
[00:11:39] And back to back, like within like 10 seconds of each other.
[00:11:42] Yeah.
[00:11:42] But, you know, my fucker still had a goal and assist.
[00:11:45] So, you know, we're not getting to overtime without him.
[00:11:49] No.
[00:11:49] You know, that was a beautiful deflection that he had.
[00:11:53] And, you know, nice quick play to get it up to Brad.
[00:11:55] And it was nice to see Brad get on the board again.
[00:11:57] He's been on the schneid a little bit for the past 10 or so, 10, 15 games.
[00:12:01] So, we just –
[00:12:02] Plus, if there's ever a game to be aggressive, extra aggressive, it's an away game in overtime.
[00:12:08] You already got the one point.
[00:12:10] You're going for the bonus point.
[00:12:11] Like, you lose it, you lose it.
[00:12:13] But, you know, even if he didn't – that particular play, it wasn't looking good.
[00:12:18] I mean, how many breakaways did Markstrom have to stop in the overtime?
[00:12:21] I know – I recall the two specifically.
[00:12:24] At least two.
[00:12:25] Panarin just fucking dog walked Luke.
[00:12:27] And that glove say that Markstrom made was gorgeous.
[00:12:31] And then –
[00:12:31] Money.
[00:12:34] Zibanejad tried the fucking move that Valaket – fuck you, Steve – called Instagram hockey.
[00:12:42] Well, he would never say that about a Ranger.
[00:12:46] So, you know, I didn't tune into the – I will never tune into a Ranger postgame after they beat us.
[00:12:52] It's just that's never happening.
[00:12:54] I only tune in during losses because I like to watch Valaket cry.
[00:12:59] I would love to get a pre- or postgame, but because MSG is so fucking cheap, the game just kind of ends for me.
[00:13:05] And I'm just like, all right.
[00:13:07] Bobby, probably you too, right?
[00:13:08] Yeah.
[00:13:08] See, every now and then I get one and it's like a treat.
[00:13:11] I'm actually excited.
[00:13:12] I'm like, that's cool.
[00:13:13] I get a half-hour postgame.
[00:13:14] But most of the time, it's just a hard cut.
[00:13:15] Or it looks like I'm going to get postgame.
[00:13:17] So, I just like run to the bathroom or something to come back down.
[00:13:19] And that stupid screens up, your event has ended.
[00:13:21] Yeah, I'm like my moment of zen.
[00:13:25] But, like, just if anybody here is listening to this who works for ESPN or MSG networks, I would love an explanation as to why none of the pre – the 637 pregame or the postgame are on ESPN+.
[00:13:39] Anybody who's listening, please let me know.
[00:13:41] Bobby and I would like a little bit of Rachel time before and after.
[00:13:44] It's not an MSG thing.
[00:13:46] It's for every single game that's on ESPN+.
[00:13:48] So, I'll watch a Shark night game at 10 o'clock at night.
[00:13:52] And when it's over, the same exact thing.
[00:13:53] Your event has ended.
[00:13:54] There's no postgame.
[00:13:55] There's no nothing.
[00:13:57] I watch a lot of – well, like, a lot of other hockey games.
[00:14:01] Sorry, Bobby, to cut you off.
[00:14:02] But, like, I'll watch the other teams pregame for Devils games, like, all the time.
[00:14:08] I don't know about the postgame.
[00:14:09] I never get – you know what I do get?
[00:14:11] Sometimes I get pregames depending on the game.
[00:14:14] But a lot of times it'll start right at faceoff.
[00:14:17] It'll come on.
[00:14:19] But never a postgame.
[00:14:20] Like, go in and think about it.
[00:14:22] And I watch a lot of games on ESPN+.
[00:14:23] And there's, like – I can't remember ever having a postgame on.
[00:14:27] The game ends.
[00:14:28] They do it.
[00:14:28] Yeah, so I think it's an ESPN thing.
[00:14:32] Well, I mean, if it's an ESPN thing, then what's their issue?
[00:14:35] Is it a bandwidth issue?
[00:14:37] Because, I mean, the footage is already there.
[00:14:39] Why not have it?
[00:14:40] Or do they not get anything for it as being the host of the games, right?
[00:14:44] Whereas, like, MSG, they have commercials during postgame and pregame.
[00:14:48] So they're making money.
[00:14:50] But ESPN maybe doesn't see that money.
[00:14:52] So, like, why are we going to give you an extra hour?
[00:14:54] But now if you're watching a game, an out-of-market game on ESPN+,
[00:14:59] because sometimes I don't get commercials either.
[00:15:02] There are certain times where it'll just, you know, have your commercial in progress.
[00:15:06] And it'll play – or, like, enjoy this zen moment.
[00:15:10] And it'll be, like, you know, fucking birds tweeting around.
[00:15:13] And then it'll come back to the game.
[00:15:14] So, I don't know.
[00:15:16] I love watching other out-of-market games.
[00:15:18] I love listening to other announcers and stuff.
[00:15:20] I like – because that's the thing I love best about Plus.
[00:15:24] Like, if it's a fucking, you know, Dallas Stars versus Minnesota.
[00:15:28] And it's, like, it gives you the choice of which broadcast you want to watch.
[00:15:32] And I'm like, oh, wait.
[00:15:33] I don't think I've listened to Minnesota's guys.
[00:15:35] I want to listen to them.
[00:15:36] And I tell you, man, Bill Spaulding, he's one of the best.
[00:15:41] He's one of the better ones out there.
[00:15:44] I agree.
[00:15:46] I enjoy him.
[00:15:47] Did you get to listen to him and Danico last night?
[00:15:50] Yeah.
[00:15:51] Yes.
[00:15:51] Because he gave a – they did a little, you know, honorable mention to Sam Rosen,
[00:15:58] who I guess got two times last night to, you know, scream out his awful catchphrase.
[00:16:04] But he was – I guess Spaulding grew up in New York or, like, upstate New York.
[00:16:10] And he was saying, like, when I was a kid, the only guys that I got to listen to and the guys that got me into doing this were Sam Rosen, Doc Emmerich.
[00:16:19] And then he mentioned somebody else.
[00:16:20] And I'm thinking it's probably the Buffalo Sabre.
[00:16:24] Rick Genero or something like that?
[00:16:26] Possibly.
[00:16:26] I don't remember who it was because it might have even been the Islander guy who – whoever was before Brendan whatever the hell his name is.
[00:16:35] Because he's young, the dude that does the Islander play-by-play with Butch Boring.
[00:16:41] So it might have been him too.
[00:16:43] Complaining about not getting a pre- and post-game.
[00:16:45] I mean, with how spoiled we are, being able to just click of a button, get any game I really want to watch except for those that are blacked out.
[00:16:52] And blackout restrictions are ridiculous.
[00:16:54] I remember trying to watch Devil Games before they were ever on TV.
[00:17:00] They were on something called the Sports Channel, which was a pay channel.
[00:17:05] And they allowed you to buy a game.
[00:17:07] And now we're talking late 80s, early 90s, right?
[00:17:10] So even back then it was, like, $12, $10 or $12 to watch a game.
[00:17:15] Jesus.
[00:17:15] Like, back then.
[00:17:16] Because I remember, like, asking my mom a bunch when I was – she's like, no, we're not spending $10 more on the cable bill if you go watch a hockey game.
[00:17:23] Listen to it on the radio.
[00:17:24] See, back then, tickets were $10.
[00:17:26] Yeah, right?
[00:17:27] You know, that's crazy.
[00:17:28] I think you could get a house and a car for $15 back then.
[00:17:32] I don't know.
[00:17:32] God, I remember my dad telling me a story once about a Cadillac.
[00:17:36] He had just sold one of his businesses, and he was on his way home, and he was passing a Cadillac DR.
[00:17:42] And he actually had money, you know, on him.
[00:17:45] And he went in and bought a car right off the showroom, brand new Cadillac.
[00:17:48] I'm like, how much did that cost you?
[00:17:50] He goes, $3,500.
[00:17:52] I'm like, you got to be shitting me.
[00:17:54] $3,500.
[00:17:56] I got my license in 1993.
[00:17:58] I bought a 1966 car, and it cost me $2,200.
[00:18:04] Crazy.
[00:18:07] So, yeah.
[00:18:07] So, look, it was frustrating to not get that win in overtime.
[00:18:12] I think we're kind of digging ourselves out of this hole.
[00:18:15] It's not going to happen overnight.
[00:18:18] There was some good about that game.
[00:18:20] I particularly liked in kind of the first and second period.
[00:18:23] There's a lot more physicality.
[00:18:25] It seemed like they're winning a lot more board battles.
[00:18:29] It seemed a lot more sort of engaged and energized on the boards and the forecheck.
[00:18:34] Fourth line did a decent job.
[00:18:36] You know, love my Dowling, but I think, you know, we're really getting past time that we need an upgrade there.
[00:18:43] I thought the third line played pretty good last night.
[00:18:47] I will say that.
[00:18:48] I thought they played pretty good.
[00:18:49] I thought Mercer and Cotter had decent games.
[00:18:52] I think Cotter was our best player last night.
[00:18:54] Yeah.
[00:18:55] And even the fourth line for the ice time that they got, they weren't – I didn't think they were too noticeably bad, at least.
[00:19:01] I mean, McDermott almost got two fucking goals.
[00:19:04] That was surprising.
[00:19:05] But I do got to say, I mean, I don't like to signal out players in particular, but there's another guy now on my radar that probably could sit a game.
[00:19:14] Wait, wait, wait.
[00:19:15] Okay, wait.
[00:19:16] Oh, do tell.
[00:19:17] Wait, wait.
[00:19:18] Don't tell.
[00:19:18] We got to guess.
[00:19:19] We got to guess.
[00:19:20] All right.
[00:19:21] Or it's Lazar.
[00:19:23] No.
[00:19:23] No, it's not Lazar.
[00:19:25] Bobby loves Lazar.
[00:19:27] I love him when he does shit.
[00:19:28] I'm not in love with him.
[00:19:30] I love him.
[00:19:31] I mean, I like him, but I don't like him.
[00:19:33] Like him, like him.
[00:19:35] Let's see.
[00:19:37] It's a forward?
[00:19:38] Yeah.
[00:19:41] Mercer?
[00:19:42] No, no.
[00:19:43] Mason, dude.
[00:19:44] I don't know.
[00:19:46] You're right.
[00:19:48] Bastion.
[00:19:48] It's got to be Bastion.
[00:19:49] Oh, I just –
[00:19:50] I forgot about him.
[00:19:51] Yeah, well, that's why.
[00:19:52] Yeah.
[00:19:53] I'm tired of forgetting about him.
[00:19:54] Just, you know, a game or two, get somebody up here with some energy.
[00:19:58] I don't know how they would work that out because, again, with the movements and all that shit.
[00:20:01] But he's legitimately one of us.
[00:20:03] He's not doing anything right now.
[00:20:04] He's one of us.
[00:20:04] Ineffective hockey players, like, on our roster.
[00:20:07] And that penalty he took was just flat-footed and fucking lazy.
[00:20:11] Yes.
[00:20:12] That was really the one time you noticed him in the rest of the game.
[00:20:16] It was just like, why is he even out there?
[00:20:18] Nolan's foot, man.
[00:20:19] That's – I don't – you know.
[00:20:21] He's not so hurt, is he?
[00:20:22] I don't know.
[00:20:23] He's always fucking hurt.
[00:20:24] Foot beat the shit out of someone.
[00:20:26] I saw a highlight on Twitter.
[00:20:28] Yeah, he had a pretty good fight.
[00:20:30] I think it was against Syracuse.
[00:20:31] But I don't know.
[00:20:33] We have, like, a hard man and a still man and a something else man down in Utica.
[00:20:37] One of them, I think, the guy who we traded for, Graham Clark, has actually come along pretty strong.
[00:20:43] So I read something from Ben Burnell, who does the sort of Utica beat, that said he's playing pretty well and coming up.
[00:20:52] And another guy in Utica that has seemed to have come out of his shell has been playing very well.
[00:20:59] And I believe he has something like seven points in nine games or nine points in seven games.
[00:21:03] This is Simone Nemich.
[00:21:05] He had three points the other night.
[00:21:07] I do want to discuss Simone Nemich real quick.
[00:21:10] But before we do, I have to do a little ad read here.

[00:22:25] The crown is yours.
[00:22:27] All right.
[00:22:30] So, Simone Nemich.
[00:22:33] Kind of a bit of a quagmire I think the Devils have gotten themselves into a little bit when it comes to our defensemen down in Utica.
[00:22:42] Because we have the two studs in Casey and Nemich.
[00:22:49] Do you guys think that there is room in the near future, and I say that within a year or two, that both those guys could be on the Devils roster, the main roster, or is there just not enough room for both of them?
[00:23:08] And if so, who do you prefer?
[00:23:11] And what do you do with the other one?
[00:23:13] Bobby, we'll start with you.
[00:23:16] So, first part of the question is, do I think in the near future there's room for the two of them?
[00:23:23] No.
[00:23:24] I don't know how that would work out right now.
[00:23:28] Because in the near future, my mind is in the next two years.
[00:23:30] And we don't know what's going to happen with Kovacevic.
[00:23:33] So, that would be option number one.
[00:23:34] If they don't sign Kovacevic because they want to bring one of those two guys up, fine.
[00:23:40] That gives us one of them.
[00:23:42] I still think, based on how well the defense is playing, you'd probably be a fool not to at least offer Kovacevic a respectable contract.
[00:23:51] He'll probably get overpaid now to go somewhere else.
[00:23:53] He's earned that.
[00:23:54] But I think you'd be a fool not to at least do it.
[00:23:56] So, that might block the two of them.
[00:23:57] But assuming he goes, the rest of the terms are pretty significant because you know you're signing up Luke this year.
[00:24:04] You got Hamilton for a long term.
[00:24:06] And you're not going to get into buyout discussions with Hamilton until at least another three years from now or more.
[00:24:11] So, he's stuck.
[00:24:12] And he's a player that we want.
[00:24:14] So, I see one of them.
[00:24:17] And I'm not giving up on either of them.
[00:24:20] But if I were to say who then becomes a more valuable asset via trade that I'd be willing to part with first, probably Nemec.
[00:24:32] And this comes from a guy who last year when he came up, I was saying, are we seeing our newest best defenseman?
[00:24:37] You know, even though he was playing at the same time as Luke.
[00:24:40] And it's kind of tongue-in-cheek because I believe Luke overall will be the better defenseman.
[00:24:43] But that's how high I am on Nemec.
[00:24:45] But I just feel like when it comes down to putting together a championship team and getting a return, I think Nemec might be the guy that I would let go.
[00:24:55] Tim.
[00:24:57] Wrong.
[00:25:00] All right.
[00:25:01] See you tomorrow.
[00:25:02] I said this on Twitter yesterday.
[00:25:07] I said neither Nemec nor Casey should be entering your grade board right now.
[00:25:11] Right now.
[00:25:12] Better not move one of these for a piece at the deadline.
[00:25:18] I know we need help before, but we have plenty of assets.
[00:25:22] Are you guys frozen?
[00:25:24] Am I frozen?
[00:25:24] No, you are.
[00:25:25] You're a little robotic.
[00:25:27] Yeah, a little robotic.
[00:25:28] But I think you're back now.
[00:25:30] Keep going.
[00:25:30] No one should go near Nemec.
[00:25:35] Asshole did that so well.
[00:25:37] I thought he froze.
[00:25:37] That's so funny.
[00:25:40] All right.
[00:25:41] Sorry, Benny.
[00:25:42] Try again.
[00:25:43] I'm near my AC.
[00:25:44] No, I don't.
[00:25:45] No, now you're actually freezing.
[00:25:46] I don't know why we need to have this conversation right now.
[00:25:48] Stop, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop.
[00:25:50] This is how my ass is a robotic fucking mess right now.
[00:25:53] Sorry about it.
[00:25:55] I think we should need to have this conversation right now.
[00:25:58] Both still strong.
[00:26:00] Both doing fine in the HL.
[00:26:03] What is happening?
[00:26:05] No, no, go ahead.
[00:26:06] It was shitty, dude.
[00:26:07] Go ahead.
[00:26:08] I've made out nothing that you've said so far.
[00:26:12] Well, half I was joking.
[00:26:14] Half I wasn't.
[00:26:15] Holy shit.
[00:26:15] My Wi-Fi is so fucked.
[00:26:17] I think the audio should be fine on the podcast.
[00:26:20] It's just really funny to listen to.
[00:26:21] Yeah, this is going to just be a just a little bit.
[00:26:23] It's clear now, so try it again.
[00:26:24] Okay, so I said we shouldn't have Nemich or Casey anywhere near right now.
[00:26:30] There's no reason that we can't keep these guys in the HL, continue to let them cook down there.
[00:26:36] You know, we have three right side defensemen right now that are good and that are, you know, two of which are signed for a pretty decent term.
[00:26:47] One of them has played one full season for the Devils in his time here and is getting a little long in the tooth.
[00:26:55] He's been a little more inconsistent than I would have liked, which is Dougie.
[00:27:01] I don't I'm not saying buyout, but after this year, after next year, he may not be worth the squeeze anymore.
[00:27:11] And then if you look at like Casey, his his ELC is through 2026 or 2627.
[00:27:21] Nemich is through 2526.
[00:27:23] The only way I would see one of them needing to move in the near term is if we do get like a massive piece, like a JT Miller is, you know, a one for one swap.
[00:27:35] But what does that do to to our contract situation?
[00:27:40] That's kind of the only thing I would say someone else that I read also brought up, like if there is a young up and coming forward that is in a kind of comparable log jam on their end.
[00:27:52] Like what about like an image for Shane Wright or something like that?
[00:27:57] You know, that would be something that that would be interesting as well.
[00:28:00] I don't see Seattle doing that, but.
[00:28:03] I just don't think we need to immediately offer up our best pieces if we want something like we have plenty of plenty of other assets to give up.
[00:28:12] And I know you guys aren't saying that at all.
[00:28:14] I know that.
[00:28:14] Yeah, I just don't.
[00:28:15] I just I do think there will be a time when that issue comes up.
[00:28:21] I just don't think it's necessarily going to be now.
[00:28:22] And like Bobby said, a lot of it hinges on what what we decided to do with Kovacevic.
[00:28:27] You know, I think he's earned a two, three year deal with this team right now.
[00:28:32] And that will be three guys on the right side.
[00:28:34] But guys get hurt.
[00:28:35] Doesn't hurt to have depth.
[00:28:36] Doesn't hurt to have young guys that you can call up, put in the league.
[00:28:40] But defensemen take longer to take longer to cook.
[00:28:42] And honestly, if I were going to keep one, if I were gun to my head, I'm keeping Nemich over Casey.
[00:28:47] You are.
[00:28:48] Why?
[00:28:50] Because he's just a better two way defenseman.
[00:28:52] He's better defensively.
[00:28:54] He's bigger.
[00:28:54] He's stronger.
[00:28:55] Casey was great.
[00:28:57] He had a lot of flash.
[00:28:58] But if you look kind of under the hood a little bit at how he did, he did score three goals.
[00:29:02] But he was getting absolutely caved in.
[00:29:05] Nemich was there right alongside him.
[00:29:07] But I just think Nemich is the better defensive prospect between the two.
[00:29:12] Oh, I agree with that.
[00:29:14] But I think that you get more.
[00:29:17] And I got to see a lot more of Seamus Casey before I'm really willing to die on a hill for this.
[00:29:22] But the little bit that I saw was there's a little bit of Brian Rafalski in this kid when he skates and he's smooth and he's got a shot.
[00:29:30] The learning to play defensive, that's going to take a little while.
[00:29:34] But I think when they both reach their peak right now, I have a little bit more faith that Casey will be the better all-around defender.
[00:29:44] I disagree.
[00:29:45] Offensively and defensively.
[00:29:47] But I'm looking at these two guys right now.
[00:29:51] And, again, if there's no reason to move them, if nobody's asking for them, if there's not a trade on the table to bring, like you mentioned, a JT Miller or anybody of that stature,
[00:30:03] that's what we would consider, that Bobby likes to call all the time, like a real hockey trade.
[00:30:09] Like then nobody's asking.
[00:30:12] And those guys, then they shouldn't be on the block.
[00:30:15] And you should let them cook down there as long as you need to.
[00:30:18] I have no problems with that.
[00:30:20] But if there's a deal to be made, you know full well that any other general manager is going to be asking for one of those dudes.
[00:30:30] So that is where it comes to, like, if it's worth doing, who do you move on from?
[00:30:37] And I would trust and be fine with whatever fits, if it ever came to it, whatever he did decide to do.
[00:30:43] Right now, I kind of just like Seamus Casey a little bit better than Simone Nemich.
[00:30:50] And it has nothing to do other than my own personal preference when I've seen him play.
[00:30:54] And I'm looking at just this year.
[00:30:56] Nemich had a lot of bright spots last year.
[00:30:58] Was put in a horrible position for a young defender.
[00:31:01] And I thought he did really well with that pressure.
[00:31:04] This year, he looked lost out there in the little bit of time that we saw him.
[00:31:10] So that got me a little nervous.
[00:31:12] Like, is this dude regressing?
[00:31:13] And I had said, I think that the dude played way too much hockey in this last year.
[00:31:17] And I was going to, yeah, I was going to bring that up.
[00:31:18] And I think now, and he also got hurt in one of those Olympic qualifiers.
[00:31:23] And I think that affected him.
[00:31:25] You know, that affected his training camp.
[00:31:26] It affected him early in the season.
[00:31:28] And like I just said, like, he's just, you know, put up a bunch of points in the past couple games.
[00:31:32] So he may just be now kind of finding his footing after being hurt and after playing too much.
[00:31:37] But after, you know, the Worlds and then some of those Olympic qualifiers.
[00:31:42] I think he's just kind of bit off a little more than he could chew.
[00:31:46] And I love Casey.
[00:31:47] I think he's great.
[00:31:48] And I think Casey and Salaev would actually make like a hilarious, like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Danny DeVito type of pairing.
[00:31:57] That would be so awesome.
[00:31:58] Salaev's like not even ever on the fucking table.
[00:32:01] Like anybody ever asked for Salaev, you laugh at them and you hang up and you never ever, you erase their fucking number from your phone lock.
[00:32:08] Yeah.
[00:32:09] Yeah.
[00:32:10] I don't, I don't think.
[00:32:12] And I'm also looking at this kind of on the lens of like, what, what is Fitz going to do too?
[00:32:17] And I'll tell you, right.
[00:32:19] I think Fitz would go with, I think Fitz, if you ask him right now or the trade was up, I think he would do everything he can.
[00:32:26] And to keep, I think he would trade Seamus Casey way before he traded Shimon Nemich.
[00:32:31] Yeah, I agree.
[00:32:32] I agree.
[00:32:33] And getting value back in a trade, putting it that way, Nemich has a little more cachet because he was the second overall pick versus the second rounder of Casey.
[00:32:44] But we don't need to talk about either of them because they're not fucking going anywhere.
[00:32:49] And why'd you bring him up before?
[00:32:50] You're the one who wanted to.
[00:32:50] You brought him up.
[00:32:52] Not on the show.
[00:32:53] I didn't.
[00:32:53] You did.
[00:32:54] What?
[00:32:55] You brought him up on this show.
[00:32:57] Let's play that tape back.
[00:32:58] I was kind of breaking up.
[00:32:59] Let's go to the videotape.
[00:33:00] Honestly, you know, let's, you know, I was breaking up.
[00:33:03] I think you broke it up.
[00:33:04] You brought it up.
[00:33:04] Nope.
[00:33:05] No.
[00:33:05] You'll listen to it tomorrow.
[00:33:07] You'll be like, God damn it.
[00:33:07] I did bring up Seamus Casey.
[00:33:09] Denny Shuby.
[00:33:11] But as far, and like the Dougie thing, like I think that, and just to put a quick, you know, end to that Dougie conversation,
[00:33:19] I don't think Dougie will ever be bought out.
[00:33:22] I really don't.
[00:33:22] I think that Fitz would trade him at his least valuable maybe at that time.
[00:33:29] But, you know, I see him in a year or two being a trade ship if they moved on from him.
[00:33:34] Then buying him out.
[00:33:36] Palat, he's a different, you know, animal right there as far as buyouts go, especially if Palat decides that he doesn't want to play in these playoffs.
[00:33:46] You know, if he has a bad playoff, I would not be surprised.
[00:33:51] He's been looking, Palat's been looking a lot better.
[00:33:53] But, you know, he whiffed on another one-timer last night.
[00:33:56] You know, so.
[00:33:57] Can't expect the guy to score goals too, Tim.
[00:34:00] Seriously.
[00:34:02] What's interesting about Dougie is next year, right now he has full no movement protection.
[00:34:09] Next year he has a 10-team trade list.
[00:34:11] So that opens up for the last three years.
[00:34:13] So there would be opportunity to probably move that contract if it gets untenable.
[00:34:19] But right now it's not.
[00:34:20] You know, we have, well, I think I sent you guys a little chart of the sort of balance that our three D pairs have.
[00:34:27] And we've been talking about it a lot.
[00:34:29] You know, we have a perfect two-way pair in Luke and Pesci.
[00:34:32] Perfect shutdown D pair in Kovacavich and Siegenthaler.
[00:34:35] Perfect kind of gasoline, high-octane pairing in Hamilton and Dillon.
[00:34:40] Yeah.
[00:34:41] And I misspoke.
[00:34:43] Well, I didn't misspoke.
[00:34:43] But when I was talking about Hamilton, I did not realize that he's got three years after this year.
[00:34:47] He's already four years into this deal.
[00:34:49] It doesn't feel like he's been here that long.
[00:34:52] So that, in retrospective to what I said, does make a little more sense that we can certainly be a little more patient with both of the defensive prospects that we talked about.
[00:35:03] I'd love to see.
[00:35:04] I was just going to say, like, I'd love to see three years down the road, our D core being, you know, Luke Hughes and Nemitz and Casey and Cillia.
[00:35:14] Like, that would be amazing.
[00:35:15] And I think that that's what Fitz really wants.
[00:35:18] But it's so hard when you're in the middle of a season.
[00:35:20] And it's really hard to gauge.
[00:35:22] Like, if you're Tom Fitzgerald right now at the trade deadline with it coming up, when you're looking at this team, do you do the all-in, go get a, you know, win a Stanley Cup this year?
[00:35:35] Or is it still in that kind of wait and see mode?
[00:35:39] Like, I will tweak around the edges a little bit.
[00:35:43] And I'll make this team better where I think we need it.
[00:35:46] But I don't really see this being our Florida Panther run, our Vegas Golden Knight run right now.
[00:35:52] You know, next year we'll be ready for that.
[00:35:54] Like, do you think he thinks like that at all?
[00:35:58] Or do you think it's right now it's whatever we have to do to win a Stanley Cup no matter what?
[00:36:03] Well, just curious.
[00:36:05] I mean, to quote like Lou Lamarillo, when you have time, you use it.
[00:36:08] So that's going to be a fluid situation depending on where the devils are coming.
[00:36:13] You know, right now they're great as it is, right?
[00:36:15] Are we going to be even better closer to trade deadline?
[00:36:17] I believe so.
[00:36:18] I still believe they're going to challenge for the president's trophy once they get out of this little funk and get everything going again.
[00:36:24] I think that it would be as long as it's reasonable, right?
[00:36:29] And he's not getting owned on a trade.
[00:36:31] I think he would consider this an all-in year.
[00:36:33] Yeah.
[00:36:34] Even right now.
[00:36:35] If the playoffs started right now, I think that he would consider this an all-in year.
[00:36:39] Again, not being stupid though.
[00:36:41] I think every year starting this year needs to be an all-in year.
[00:36:45] Like, we're in our window.
[00:36:46] He needs to do everything to try and bring that cup this year.
[00:36:50] Because, you know, you're not going to have a lot of opportunities and a lot of kicks that can't.
[00:36:56] We're going to try to keep this core together, try to kind of keep growing it and keep winning.
[00:37:01] But suddenly, three, four, five years from now, they're going to start aging out.
[00:37:06] Like, Jack's in his peak for another two years.
[00:37:09] You know, Nico's in his peak for another year.
[00:37:11] You know what I'm saying?
[00:37:12] Another two years.
[00:37:13] So we're going to start to slowly, you know, and you need health.
[00:37:17] You need the goalies.
[00:37:19] Well, that's where I was going.
[00:37:20] And we have that now.
[00:37:22] You know, last year, we didn't have that.
[00:37:24] And I think that's why Fitz kind of kicked the can to the trade deadline.
[00:37:27] Absolutely.
[00:37:28] Didn't really do anything.
[00:37:29] You have to look.
[00:37:30] You know, you're looking at the box score now this year.
[00:37:33] Like, you know, knock on wood.
[00:37:35] But our main guys have played pretty much every game.
[00:37:38] And that's just, you know, you have to.
[00:37:40] Like, that's another reason why I agree with you guys.
[00:37:42] I think you have to look at, as Tom Fitzgerald goes,
[00:37:46] he has to look at every year now moving forward that we can win a Stanley Cup
[00:37:50] and we have to do everything we can.
[00:37:51] And that's another reason.
[00:37:52] You're looking at this, you know, your first column in your stat line.
[00:37:57] And every guy is, like, going to be at, you know, 82 in games played.
[00:38:02] Like, you don't know what next year.
[00:38:04] You might, you know, look at last year.
[00:38:06] The same thing could happen next year.
[00:38:08] And you're fucking just throw it all out the window.
[00:38:10] And it's another year wasted.
[00:38:12] Like, you have to strike while the iron's hot.
[00:38:14] I'm going to double down on why it's even more important this year to go for it all in.
[00:38:21] Because they don't need to touch the defense.
[00:38:24] How many contending teams usually want to just figure out one more little piece on the defense?
[00:38:28] I wouldn't touch that defense at all.
[00:38:31] We know specifically what we need in the two forward positions.
[00:38:35] Like, that's a place of strength to know that our defense.
[00:38:39] That's a great point.
[00:38:40] That's a very, very good point.
[00:38:43] And with Markstrom playing the way he is, like, you ride that.
[00:38:47] You ride this defense in that goal.
[00:38:49] You ride Markstrom.
[00:38:50] Okay, fuck it.
[00:38:51] You ride him.
[00:38:51] Trey Nemich and Casey, bring them all in.
[00:38:53] I want Matt Kachuk.
[00:38:54] I want Brady Kachuk.
[00:38:55] And I want JT Miller.
[00:38:57] Fuck it.
[00:38:57] Okay.
[00:38:58] Let's do it all.
[00:38:59] All right.
[00:38:59] Put him on LTIR until the playoffs.
[00:39:01] Let's do it.
[00:39:03] Yeah, he's got it.
[00:39:04] I mean, I don't know what he's going to do.
[00:39:05] There's a lot of – I think it's – I think Jake Evans is a really hot option right now.
[00:39:10] I think that he's very interested in him.
[00:39:13] I would not be surprised because, you know, I know at the bottom of the Metro and the Atlantic, it's everybody within three or four points.
[00:39:24] So, it's like, of course, there's going to be a nice bulk of those teams that are going to realize that, yeah, we might make the playoffs, but we're not doing anything.
[00:39:32] Like, we have to sell.
[00:39:34] So, I think Montreal, all those teams, they'll start selling off their pieces.
[00:39:39] I think even Columbus is going to be a seller.
[00:39:42] So, yeah, I think you're going to be able to make some decent moves this year just a matter of what he wants to do.
[00:39:48] Like, you mentioned JT Miller.
[00:39:50] Would you want JT Miller?
[00:39:54] I think in theory, yeah.
[00:39:56] I think in practice it might not necessarily line up very well.
[00:40:00] I don't really give a shit about the locker room stuff, like – and I think that's a little bit overblown by the media because the Canadian media are like they're like fucking jackals.
[00:40:09] But one of the things that concerns me about him is like 30% to 40% of his production is on the power play.
[00:40:16] And he's a right shot and he usually sits in that left flank that Jack usually occupies on the power play.
[00:40:23] So, if he would either A, take over Nason's spot in the net front, and I don't know if his game would – he probably would be able to translate pretty well to that net front position.
[00:40:34] But that kind of – and our power play sucks right now.
[00:40:37] But if we lose 30%, 40% of his production, you know, does that – how much does that hurt us?
[00:40:44] And he's also a natural center.
[00:40:46] Like, I don't know.
[00:40:47] Like, we're not putting him in the fucking third line center.
[00:40:50] Like, I think the intention is to put him with Jack and Brad.
[00:40:53] So, I think as a player, yeah, I think it would be great to add that type of player.
[00:40:59] I think he has a character.
[00:41:00] I think he has the fucking balls.
[00:41:01] I think he's kind of that kind of asshole that you win in the playoffs with.
[00:41:06] But I just don't know in practice where he actually fits in practically with this team.
[00:41:13] How about you, B?
[00:41:14] Yeah, I honestly – I don't know enough of him.
[00:41:16] I don't get the feel for it, to be honest.
[00:41:18] It kind of feels to me like that would be a video game trade, right?
[00:41:21] I'm just bulking up a line and making it super-powered.
[00:41:24] I don't know how he would truly fit.
[00:41:26] And that power play production, like you mentioned, is actually pretty big.
[00:41:29] It's like we're not getting the whole person if we're not, like, putting them in a similar role.
[00:41:34] That's why the Rangers are a half a team because they can't score any other way than the power play.
[00:41:39] I don't know who would be a better option.
[00:41:41] I guess my gut's just telling me there's better options, both in someone that we can get with term and less money.
[00:41:46] They might fit a little better, but I don't know who that is yet.
[00:41:49] I'm going to be very honest.
[00:41:51] Go ahead, Terry.
[00:41:52] Go ahead.
[00:41:52] No, no, I apologize.
[00:41:53] I was about to – you could keep talking about JT Miller because I'm about to take us in a different direction.
[00:41:58] No, I was just going to say that I would not be surprised if nothing gets done with the top six at this trade deadline.
[00:42:04] I really would not be shocked if Bilotz the guy and that's it.
[00:42:07] We're moving forward.
[00:42:08] And it's the bottom six, that third line center, that that's really where he's going to put the bulk of his attention.
[00:42:15] So I would be shocked.
[00:42:16] I agree with that.
[00:42:17] And perhaps more of the fourth line as well, too.
[00:42:20] Like Tom Fitzgerald made it no secret.
[00:42:21] He felt that he strengthened this team big time on the bottom six.
[00:42:25] He felt that the players he brought in, no dickheads, were going to provide the approximate amount of offense that they should and they have throughout their whole careers.
[00:42:32] And now he's on record saying, frankly, they're not doing it.
[00:42:35] So I would not be surprised if he starts shuffling that stuff around now, too.
[00:42:39] Makes a guy like Lazar and Bastion be like, yeah, you were part of the plan, but maybe we've got to pivot.
[00:42:44] Yeah, you've got to perform.
[00:42:45] You might be good guys in the locker room, but you've got to perform.
[00:42:49] Back to Evans, I was just watching the end of the Montreal Capitals game that Montreal won in overtime.
[00:42:57] Yay.
[00:42:59] And Evans is on the ice for the last minute of the game.
[00:43:01] You know, and kind of a shutdownist role.
[00:43:04] And so it's it boils down to, I think, philosophically, what do we want?
[00:43:09] You know, I think I agree with you that Mercer and Cotter actually look pretty good last game.
[00:43:15] So do we want more of a two way is playmaking type of center like a Grandlin that could slide in there?
[00:43:22] Well, why not both?
[00:43:23] Why not Evans on the fourth line with Lazar and, you know, Cotter and or something?
[00:43:31] And then having Grandlin on the third line with Mercer and I don't know, Nolan Foote.
[00:43:37] So the top six guy that I still keep kind of coming back to is McCann from Seattle.
[00:43:44] Yeah.
[00:43:45] I think, you know, contract fit, age, term, just kind of all sort of feels right.
[00:43:50] Then that can slide plot down.
[00:43:52] If they leave the top six like it is, I have, aside from Evans, there are three other guys that I have narrowed in and I'm going to be an absolute propaganda machine for these three guys.
[00:44:01] Who are they?
[00:44:02] So, well, that's Grandlin already is one.
[00:44:05] So that's that's one guy.
[00:44:06] But Trent Frederick and Eli Tolvanen.
[00:44:09] Trent Frederick on Boston is a RFA.
[00:44:13] I think he'd be a perfect replacement for Bastion.
[00:44:17] Eli Tolvanen is on Seattle.
[00:44:21] He was a high draft pick.
[00:44:22] It was pretty good.
[00:44:24] Decent skill player, but he hits anything that fucking moves.
[00:44:28] I like that.
[00:44:29] If you go, if you go, he's not a huge guy.
[00:44:31] It's like 510, maybe 185, but he fucking hits anything that moves and would be a great bottom six addition.
[00:44:38] Someone on Twitter keeps talking about him.
[00:44:40] This guy, Mauro Jordan, who's dude's fucking hilarious on Twitter, but he keeps bringing him up.
[00:44:46] So I looked into him and I actually really like him as a possible ad.
[00:44:49] So what's that?
[00:44:54] What, Bobby?
[00:44:55] I was going to say, do you know where he plays in the lineup now?
[00:44:59] Yeah.
[00:45:00] Like he's middle.
[00:45:02] He's middle six, I would assume, because this guy.
[00:45:06] Middle, middle, bottom six.
[00:45:08] He's he's 42.
[00:45:09] He's 10 goals, seven assists already.
[00:45:11] 17 points.
[00:45:12] You throw that guy in bashing spot on the fourth line and with his size.
[00:45:17] Look at his.
[00:45:17] Look at how many.
[00:45:18] Oh, he's not that big.
[00:45:19] He had last year.
[00:45:20] He's only five.
[00:45:21] Look at how many hits he had last year.
[00:45:22] Yeah.
[00:45:23] But Nate, Nate Bastion is not long for time in New Jersey.
[00:45:27] I honestly, he's not safe.
[00:45:29] Yeah.
[00:45:29] I agree.
[00:45:30] And I think him and his glass jaw might be going back to Seattle.
[00:45:36] Yeah.
[00:45:37] And he's the last year of his contract.
[00:45:38] I could definitely see him being part of a, like a hockey trade at the end of the year,
[00:45:43] change of scenery for, for two different teams or even just letting him ride it out.
[00:45:47] I don't think he's future plan anymore.
[00:45:49] No, he, the defense has no, you know, thought of signing his guy.
[00:45:54] He had a homecoming.
[00:45:55] He came back here.
[00:45:56] He did play well.
[00:45:57] Like he played better in Jersey than out West.
[00:45:59] But I just feel like at this point now, it's probably if we don't move him, he's going to walk.
[00:46:04] He signed him and come back McLeod the same day.
[00:46:07] They gave McLeod the one year deal for last year and they gave Bastion the two.
[00:46:11] And it was like, I think it's only like a little over a million.
[00:46:14] It's not like it's a lot of money, but yeah.
[00:46:16] But no, he's just, he's not, he's not the guy.
[00:46:19] So I was going to bring up the McLeod thing.
[00:46:22] He's kind of the last connection to that and kind of gets a bit of a free pass on,
[00:46:29] was basically like McLeod's best friend.
[00:46:31] Like, I don't know why.
[00:46:32] I mean, they did their like zoom presser together.
[00:46:37] All right.
[00:46:38] So since it's getting a little late, two more things that we just, I want to touch on.
[00:46:44] I have a hot take and I know that you guys probably know when it's going to agree with this,
[00:46:51] but this is my hot take.
[00:46:53] Tomorrow night, the Devils are playing at home against the Lightning.
[00:46:58] My hot take is that this is a must win game for New Jersey.
[00:47:03] They've got to beat the Lightning tomorrow night.
[00:47:06] Um, this team has been a thorn in their side, a pain in their ass, a monkey in their wrench since I don't know how long.
[00:47:15] And this year they have embarrassed us the two times that we played them.
[00:47:19] I think they scored eight on us at home and shut us out down there.
[00:47:24] Our friend Tony was at that game.
[00:47:26] Um, man, Tony had no luck.
[00:47:28] He saw his Raiders get his ass kicked.
[00:47:30] He saw the Devils get their ass kicked.
[00:47:32] He's, you know, shouldn't be going to live sporting events.
[00:47:35] I'm having a bad week too, which might, might force me to jump in the fucking Atlantic Ocean wearing a New York Ranger jersey.
[00:47:42] But regardless of that, it'll be posted if I have to do it.
[00:47:47] But, um, I, I just think that they have to beat this team.
[00:47:52] The, this is a very likely or, you know, very possible, I should say, first round playoff, uh, opponent for New Jersey.
[00:48:02] You know, you, you keep saying president's trophy, this and that, like, even if it's, you know, not the presidents maybe, but they win the Metro, maybe, you know, maybe Toronto gets more points or something like Tampa's been pretty solid within that third spot.
[00:48:17] First wildcard spot in the Atlantic.
[00:48:19] I just think that there's a good chance you're going to face them.
[00:48:23] We do not match up well against them.
[00:48:25] We are coming off a really rough road trip.
[00:48:29] Um, I think tomorrow.
[00:48:31] Tomorrow, if you really want to turn this thing around, you have to fucking beat Tampa.
[00:48:38] Yeah.
[00:48:38] They've been playing better at home.
[00:48:40] And this is a team that maybe if you looked at it on paper for everything you just said, you wouldn't have a good feeling for.
[00:48:46] So maybe that's just the medicine we need.
[00:48:49] Go out there and take care of business.
[00:48:51] God, that schedule though, after this, Jesus Christ.
[00:48:53] It's brutal.
[00:48:54] But you know what?
[00:48:55] I hope that every other team is looking at their schedule and looking at New Jersey and going, and then we got to deal with New Jersey too.
[00:49:01] Like, you know, we're not.
[00:49:03] And we did this already this season.
[00:49:05] You know, we did, we did this, uh, you know, with like, Oh shit, we have three games in Florida.
[00:49:11] We'll chalk those up to losses.
[00:49:12] So, you know, we did that already.
[00:49:14] You know, it's Tampa just went through their own California shit and, and lost all the same teams that we did.
[00:49:20] But it doesn't matter though.
[00:49:22] They beat us every time we played.
[00:49:24] I get it.
[00:49:25] I just, you know, um, they, they're one of our, our boogie people.
[00:49:30] Yeah.
[00:49:30] You know, and we need to get past that.
[00:49:32] Boogie.
[00:49:33] Um, I wonder if, um, um, I wonder if who started.
[00:49:39] Who's what?
[00:49:40] Who's starting.
[00:49:41] It'll be Markstrom or Alan.
[00:49:42] Alan.
[00:49:43] I would have, would keep Markstrom in.
[00:49:45] I would have with this thing.
[00:49:48] If, if, if I knew right now, it's going to be Alan, I might change my pick for garbage goalie of the week, which we're going to get to.
[00:49:54] Um, two days off and then we got the Panthers.
[00:49:57] I would do Markstrom for that too.
[00:49:59] And then, you know, day off for Toronto and a day off before.
[00:50:02] I wouldn't play Alan until Philly next Saturday.
[00:50:06] Alan's over.
[00:50:06] That's just how Markstrom's just deserved.
[00:50:08] He deserves the majority of the games right now.
[00:50:11] And it's high danger.
[00:50:12] They will put him in one of these games.
[00:50:15] Yeah, I know.
[00:50:16] Alan, I think Alan played the first game against Florida that we won.
[00:50:21] And I think Markstrom won the second game when we went down for those two games back to back.
[00:50:26] It was back to back though.
[00:50:27] Right.
[00:50:27] But no, it was a day in between, day off in between.
[00:50:30] Oh, there was.
[00:50:30] Back to back.
[00:50:31] Yeah, there was.
[00:50:31] It was a day off.
[00:50:33] So maybe Alan did play pretty good against, um, you know, Florida.
[00:50:39] I don't have the numbers career wise.
[00:50:41] And, and I do know for a fact that Jake Allen was in net when Tampa scored eight on us in our own barn.
[00:50:48] So one of those goals, he wasn't, he wasn't in the net.
[00:50:50] He said he was in the corner.
[00:50:52] Right.
[00:50:53] Right.
[00:50:53] Okay.
[00:50:54] So we all agree.
[00:50:54] He was on an adventure.
[00:50:56] He was on a little walkabout.
[00:50:59] I love it.
[00:50:59] So then which game do you guys give Alan?
[00:51:01] Florida on Tuesday, Toronto on Thursday?
[00:51:04] No.
[00:51:04] If I was going to give Alan any game, it would be the Florida game on Tuesday.
[00:51:10] Home game.
[00:51:10] Yeah.
[00:51:12] Yeah.
[00:51:13] Tampa's there.
[00:51:14] Man, that first line, that, the point Kucherov combo just scares the shit out of me.
[00:51:18] And then the fucking big cat, man.
[00:51:20] And he's my favorite goalie has been for a long time.
[00:51:24] I love him.
[00:51:25] And, uh, he's amazing and he scares the crap out of me.
[00:51:30] So we're, we're, we're, we're a better team than Tampa right now.
[00:51:34] You know, we have a 614 winning percentage.
[00:51:36] They're 590.
[00:51:37] Their goal differential is good.
[00:51:38] They're five and five in their last 10.
[00:51:40] We're four or five and one.
[00:51:42] It's going to be an interesting game, you know, but like, I hope the process that I was talking
[00:51:45] about before kind of, you know, continues and they play.
[00:51:49] Yeah.
[00:51:50] And nothing about the lightning scares me.
[00:51:54] Nothing about their team.
[00:51:56] Nothing about the way they play and nothing.
[00:51:57] But it's that, you know, look in systems and just sometimes they don't match up.
[00:52:04] And it, I feel like we just don't match up well with them.
[00:52:09] Uh, it doesn't matter.
[00:52:10] They can go, you know, lose 12 in a row and then they face us and we could be first in
[00:52:16] the NHL and they'll find a way to beat us.
[00:52:18] They give us fits.
[00:52:20] And I know styles make fights and you know, I get all that, but ours and theirs, it just
[00:52:25] does not match up with New Jersey very well.
[00:52:29] That's why I feel like they have to win.
[00:52:31] You have to kind of just, all right.
[00:52:33] Yeah.
[00:52:34] It doesn't matter who you are.
[00:52:35] We can beat you.
[00:52:36] We haven't beaten them.
[00:52:37] And I'll even say the same for Toronto as another one of those teams.
[00:52:41] These are top tier teams that are going to be in the playoffs.
[00:52:45] You got to get something regular season from them.
[00:52:49] Um, and, and we have a chance this week.
[00:52:52] It's actually three, two, one in the, um, in the Atlantic.
[00:52:56] Yeah.
[00:52:57] That's who we're playing.
[00:52:58] Three, two, one.
[00:52:58] And, you know, you have a chance like we shown, okay, we can beat Florida and we can even
[00:53:03] beat Florida and, you know, two nights in a row, uh, two games in a row.
[00:53:08] And, and I just feel like that's this week is super important.
[00:53:12] You know, you want to really start feeling good going into the home stretch, putting a
[00:53:17] week together where you show up and show out against the lightning, the Panthers and Toronto.
[00:53:22] And then you probably, you know, Saturday is, is Philly.
[00:53:26] I like Philly, but for all intents and purposes, the devil should win that game.
[00:53:30] Pretty, you know, I don't want to say easily.
[00:53:33] Yeah.
[00:53:34] I get it.
[00:53:34] But when you look at like, they don't scare me is what I'm saying.
[00:53:37] I hear you.
[00:53:38] Those other three, I feel like you want to make a statement.
[00:53:41] These, you go out there and you win these next three games.
[00:53:44] Win all three.
[00:53:44] Win all three.
[00:53:45] Yeah.
[00:53:46] Yeah.
[00:53:46] Yeah.
[00:53:46] You know, and it's unfortunate that we went through our little kind of rough patch, um,
[00:53:52] over the past couple of weeks because, you know, the caps have kind of been flying her a little
[00:53:56] bit.
[00:53:56] They've regressed a little bit.
[00:53:57] Carolina hasn't been playing well.
[00:53:59] Um, Florida and Tampa and Toronto are both only six and four.
[00:54:03] So, you know, we didn't, we didn't lose a lot of ground on these guys.
[00:54:08] Um, we didn't gain anything, but we, we didn't lose a lot of ground.
[00:54:12] Yeah.
[00:54:13] All right.
[00:54:14] Let me just ask you guys this real quick.
[00:54:15] Yeah.
[00:54:15] So basically we're right at halfway of the season, give or take a game.
[00:54:20] Right.
[00:54:20] I think they said that the last night's devil Ranger game was the exact half way game is
[00:54:27] for the total amount of games played in a year.
[00:54:29] It's like 1100 or something for the whole league.
[00:54:33] Yeah.
[00:54:33] The whole season, the whole NHL that our game against the Rangers was the smack dab middle
[00:54:39] one.
[00:54:39] We are a few over our mid year, but do you believe that the devils have better hockey in front
[00:54:46] of them or equal?
[00:54:50] To what we've seen.
[00:54:51] I think that worse.
[00:54:53] I mean, I personally think that this team has out of how many games have we played?
[00:54:58] 30, 44, 44, 44, 44 out of the 44 games that the devils have played this year.
[00:55:07] I'll say how many wins do we have?
[00:55:09] 21, 25, 25, 25 wins.
[00:55:11] We probably played a full complete game.
[00:55:16] 10 of those wins.
[00:55:17] Like, I don't think we've seen this team be its best, not nearly enough this year.
[00:55:23] And, but you see it.
[00:55:24] And when you see them in their best, when they went through the seven games without allowing
[00:55:28] 20 shots or more, that team, when they play like that and they can get, then they start
[00:55:33] getting balanced scoring.
[00:55:35] I don't think that there's anybody.
[00:55:36] But I think that they can be and hang with anybody when they play that way.
[00:55:41] So I think we haven't seen their best yet.
[00:55:43] What do you think, Tim?
[00:55:45] Yeah.
[00:55:45] I mean, I hope so.
[00:55:48] I think we're going to see kind of more of the same.
[00:55:54] I think we're going to be a little bit better.
[00:55:57] Like, you know, maybe, you know, a lot of sort of six and four, seven and three, 10 game
[00:56:04] stretches until the end of the season.
[00:56:06] I don't think we're going to go on any sort of 10 game heater here.
[00:56:09] I think we're going to three steps forward, one step back type of thing our way to the
[00:56:14] playoffs.
[00:56:14] You know, I, I, I don't, I don't really see any way how we don't wind up playing Carolina
[00:56:19] in the first round of the playoffs.
[00:56:20] Like, I just, I feel like we're on a collision course with them just like we were.
[00:56:24] And there are six teams that are good in the East and everybody else fucking sucks.
[00:56:28] There's a, there's a lot of, there's a lot of space between Tampa who has the lowest winning
[00:56:36] percentage of the top six teams.
[00:56:38] They're at 590.
[00:56:40] Boston's at 511.
[00:56:41] You know, like that, there's a lot of, a lot of breeded room between those two.
[00:56:45] The, the, there's seven, the seven teams that right now are, are going to be in the playoffs.
[00:56:51] I think are pretty set.
[00:56:52] It's that one last one.
[00:56:53] And I think everybody's going to go fight over, but what do you think?
[00:56:56] Do you think that this team has played its best?
[00:57:00] I think we've seen some games where they've played their best, but I think overall, as
[00:57:04] far as the season goes, I think that they're still going to get better.
[00:57:07] We're 10 games over 500 with four kind of loser points, basically halfway through, even
[00:57:13] if we just duplicated that, that winds up being 20 games over 500 at the end of the year.
[00:57:19] And this goes to kind of Tim's point about it's unfortunate.
[00:57:21] We didn't move up with Washington kind of slowing down a little bit.
[00:57:25] I think Washington is more likely to slow down a little bit and that we are still getting
[00:57:30] better.
[00:57:30] So I think we're going to have a better second half when all is said and done.
[00:57:35] And that's why I'm thinking, you know, we're going to be, we're going to be closer to the
[00:57:39] top than, than the middle.
[00:57:41] Probably Carolina though.
[00:57:42] Yeah.
[00:57:42] I see three, three out of four moving forward, like how they were doing pretty much the whole
[00:57:47] month of December.
[00:57:48] You know, that's, that's pretty much where I see this team, you know, they're going to
[00:57:51] play a few stinkers, run into some hot goalies.
[00:57:54] People are going to be in and out of lineups.
[00:57:56] It's just the way shit works.
[00:57:58] But if they're playing their best hockey going into the playoffs and that's what you want.
[00:58:03] I think this team can be very, very dangerous, but I also could see a world where, you know,
[00:58:08] you get into the playoffs and, you know, offense dries up and next thing you know,
[00:58:12] you're done in five games in the first round and you're all sitting around looking at each
[00:58:15] other going, what the fuck happened?
[00:58:16] We've all seen that happen before too.
[00:58:18] It probably happens to, you know, four teams a year.
[00:58:22] Yeah.
[00:58:23] So, I mean, they haven't completely gotten me to the point where I'm, I'm comfortable and
[00:58:28] confident of knowing that when they get to the playoffs, they're going to be okay.
[00:58:31] Cause we just haven't seen enough of them doing that.
[00:58:33] So yeah, there's, you know, I think they're still growing into the team that they are, you
[00:58:38] know, like 40 games is a lot, but it's still, you know, it's a lot of
[00:58:42] with all the new guys, new coach and everything that's still growing into the stuff.
[00:58:46] And I, you know, the offense still hasn't fully clicked.
[00:58:51] I don't necessarily think maybe the first couple of games, that's sort of random, but
[00:58:55] in the system with that defensive defense that we saw in December and the offense that
[00:58:59] we saw at the beginning of the season, I would like to see those two pieces work together
[00:59:03] with the goaltending that we're getting right now.
[00:59:05] When they start, if they start putting together complete games, like you said, Tim, they're
[00:59:09] going to be a really tough team to beat.
[00:59:11] Yeah.
[00:59:11] Yeah.
[00:59:11] I agree.
[00:59:12] And, and I'd rather them go through this rough patch now, figure this shit out, figure out
[00:59:17] what goes wrong when it goes wrong.
[00:59:19] Yeah.
[00:59:20] Then, then for that shit in April stumbling backwards into the playoffs.
[00:59:24] And then, you know, too, when those problems arise again and they will, you know how to get
[00:59:28] out of them a little bit easier, you know what, you know?
[00:59:30] So, but all right, it's getting late.
[00:59:32] Anything else before we jump in the garbage goalie real quick?
[00:59:36] I just want to say, I mean, we're just in the middle of this terrible kind of stretch
[00:59:40] four or five and one, the last 10, and we still sit seventh in the NHL.
[00:59:45] Like that's impressive.
[00:59:46] We're good.
[00:59:49] It's just going to be okay.
[00:59:50] Everybody it's going to be.
[00:59:51] Oh God.
[00:59:52] I mean that.
[00:59:52] Yeah.
[00:59:52] The panic out there.
[00:59:54] It's like, you know, you can't like even, even with football.
[00:59:57] I know I talk about football a lot, but like, I'm like reading shit of people saying
[01:00:01] that the devil, the devils, the Vikings need to trade their head coach.
[01:00:06] Like we need to trade our head coach.
[01:00:07] We have a 37 year old head coach who has been our coach for three seasons.
[01:00:12] Two of those years, one of those first year, he won 13 games last year.
[01:00:15] It was injury riddled only one nine.
[01:00:18] I get that or seven rather.
[01:00:19] It was a terrible season.
[01:00:21] And then this year you went 14.
[01:00:22] We want to fire that guy.
[01:00:24] Cause he had the one in the playoffs and he's only played one playoff game and he
[01:00:28] lost it.
[01:00:29] So we should get rid of it.
[01:00:30] I want somebody to want to trade for me.
[01:00:32] I know.
[01:00:33] Well, you know what?
[01:00:34] Let's call a Neil from a devil state of mind.
[01:00:36] Maybe he'll throw you an offer.
[01:00:38] All right.
[01:00:38] We trade you and maybe we'll get back.
[01:00:40] I don't know.
[01:00:42] A drafting ad or something.
[01:00:44] All right.
[01:00:45] Oh, by the way, if, if the Vikings lose on Monday, Chris has to jump in the
[01:00:50] ocean and arrange your Jersey.
[01:00:51] Yeah.
[01:00:52] So before we get into the garbage of goalie of the week, I work with a friend
[01:00:56] of mine.
[01:00:57] His name is Nick.
[01:00:57] He is a big New York Ranger fan and a bigger Los Angeles Ram fan.
[01:01:03] Me being a Viking fan and a devil fan.
[01:01:05] Of course we had to put something on the line.
[01:01:08] Originally it was just breakfast, you know, whoever wins them both, you know,
[01:01:11] breakfast, but it was breakfast for him.
[01:01:12] If you won, like I owe him a bagel tomorrow because the Rangers won, but it
[01:01:17] was so if the, but now I, I have to win on Monday night against the Rams because
[01:01:23] it was, if one of our team wins both of them, then the loser has to wear the opposing Jersey
[01:01:30] in the middle of the winter in January and jump in the fucking ocean.
[01:01:34] And I do not want to have to fucking do that, dude.
[01:01:38] That is like, like, I mean, no.
[01:01:41] So selfishly, I have to say for the uncle puckers, I have in the ocean will be great.
[01:01:48] I know.
[01:01:49] I know.
[01:01:49] And look, if I, again, so would a Ranger fan jumping in the ocean, wearing a devil's Jersey
[01:01:54] on our pot.
[01:01:54] So either way, it's a win-win for me.
[01:01:57] No, it's not.
[01:01:58] I mean, I'm just coming up with it.
[01:01:59] He can't.
[01:02:00] He, the only way you jump in the ocean, the only way you jump in the ocean is if you lose
[01:02:04] both.
[01:02:05] Oh, wait.
[01:02:05] He's off the hook.
[01:02:06] Right.
[01:02:06] So I actually felt much better on this bet with the devils.
[01:02:09] I was like, please.
[01:02:11] Yeah.
[01:02:11] I think I'm a Rams fan now.
[01:02:12] We're playing the Rangers.
[01:02:13] You know, we'll fucking smoke them and whatever happens Monday.
[01:02:16] But now.
[01:02:17] Dude.
[01:02:17] I leave it to a team who has done nothing my entire life other than rip my fucking heart
[01:02:22] out of my chest and fill me with false hope and then shit all over themselves when I'm
[01:02:27] going to go on the record now and say they'll be our most viewed real like ever.
[01:02:32] Yeah.
[01:02:32] I think it's selfishly.
[01:02:34] It's kind of cool.
[01:02:35] Do it for the Instagram.
[01:02:36] Come on, buddy.
[01:02:37] Let me tell you something.
[01:02:38] All right.
[01:02:38] I'll tell you what.
[01:02:39] If the Vikings even win, maybe I'll still do it just for you guys.
[01:02:46] All right.
[01:02:46] But I don't want the fucking Vikings to lose just so I have to fucking jump in the ocean
[01:02:50] for you schmucks.
[01:02:51] Like, it's just important to me.
[01:02:53] I mean, is it for us schmucks?
[01:02:55] I mean, you started the podcast.
[01:02:56] Is it for you schmucks?
[01:02:58] Well, no.
[01:02:59] You know what it was?
[01:03:00] This schmuck down here, Tim, is the one that said you should bet jumping in the ocean.
[01:03:06] That was my suggestion.
[01:03:08] That's a great idea.
[01:03:10] Chris is like, oh, that sounds awesome.
[01:03:11] This guy's going to jump in the ocean.
[01:03:13] Yeah.
[01:03:14] All right.
[01:03:14] All right.
[01:03:15] Barber's Goalie of the Week.
[01:03:16] We are the only show in America which celebrates horrible NHL goaltending.
[01:03:21] And how we play is the three of us every week.
[01:03:24] We pick a goaltender who is playing on Saturday.
[01:03:28] We can only pick that goalie one time.
[01:03:30] If by some chance that goalie does not play, we automatically get their backup, which somebody
[01:03:35] had this week.
[01:03:36] Actually, two of you did.
[01:03:39] And the lowest save percentage wins.
[01:03:41] And it goes by how we pick an order from lowest to highest for next week's goalie.
[01:03:47] So if you win, you get picks, dibs for the goalie that you want.
[01:03:51] Last year, Bobby, you took Cam Talbot from Detroit against the Winnipeg Jets.
[01:03:57] Cam Talbot did not play.
[01:03:59] Alex Lyon did.
[01:04:01] And Detroit won 4-2.
[01:04:03] And Alex Lyon's save percentage was a 9-13.
[01:04:06] So I'm not winning this week.
[01:04:08] Timmy, you took Sam Montembeau for Montreal.
[01:04:11] They were playing the Avalanche.
[01:04:13] Montembeau did not play.
[01:04:15] Dobbs played Dobby.
[01:04:17] I don't know how you say his name.
[01:04:19] And it was a 2-1 Montreal win.
[01:04:22] And Dobby's, Dobby, Dobby, Dobby, Dobby come for Harry Potter.
[01:04:28] You were a 9-57.
[01:04:31] I took Uka Pekalukkanen for Buffalo playing Vegas.
[01:04:35] And, oh, wow, all three of us had our backups.
[01:04:37] Uka Pekalukkanen didn't play.
[01:04:39] James Reimer did.
[01:04:41] And he got a 9-0-9.
[01:04:43] So I win.
[01:04:44] Bobby comes in second.
[01:04:45] And Tim, you picked dead last.
[01:04:47] Did Dan not put in one this week?
[01:04:49] He didn't put one in last week.
[01:04:51] And he, so, yeah.
[01:04:53] Putting in one this week or no?
[01:04:54] I don't think so.
[01:04:55] So we're just going to go with three again.
[01:04:58] All right.
[01:04:58] All right.
[01:04:59] Fucking rigged.
[01:04:59] Rigged from the beginning.
[01:05:01] Rigged.
[01:05:01] I, um, will you stop with the, who, how are we rigging it?
[01:05:06] Did I go and tell Dobby to not play very well?
[01:05:11] Exactly.
[01:05:12] You see how stupid it's saying everything's rigged?
[01:05:16] All right.
[01:05:16] Right.
[01:05:17] Yeah, that's true.
[01:05:17] Jump down that rabbit hole.
[01:05:20] All right.
[01:05:21] Uh, so tonight, tonight, Chicago played Detroit and it was, um, what the heck sir?
[01:05:30] Mrazik?
[01:05:30] He was in that.
[01:05:32] So I am going to take Soderblom tomorrow night for the Chicago Blackhawks against the Edmonton
[01:05:39] Oilers.
[01:05:40] That's my goalie pick.
[01:05:42] Bobby, you get the second pick.
[01:05:45] Okay.
[01:05:45] With the second pick, I am going to take, uh, Luke Lennon from Buffalo against Seattle.
[01:05:55] Who?
[01:05:56] Luke, Luke, Luke what?
[01:05:58] Say it.
[01:05:59] Luke Lennon.
[01:05:59] Luke Lennon.
[01:06:00] Yeah.
[01:06:00] It's the best name in hockey.
[01:06:02] Luke Lennon.
[01:06:03] Luke Lennon.
[01:06:03] Luke Lennon.
[01:06:04] Have you ever seen the video of him saying his own name?
[01:06:07] No.
[01:06:08] He says that he's like, oh, Kapeka Lukonen.
[01:06:11] It's incredible.
[01:06:12] I gotta check that out.
[01:06:13] Now, that is it.
[01:06:15] The three of us have all taken UPL at some point.
[01:06:18] So UPL is basically off the table for us.
[01:06:21] Um, and who are the Sabres playing?
[01:06:25] Uh, Seattle.
[01:06:26] Seattle.
[01:06:28] All right, Bob.
[01:06:29] You're in the book.
[01:06:30] Tim, you're a goalie.
[01:06:31] Did we pick one you wanted?
[01:06:33] No, you did not.
[01:06:34] Uh, I'm going with Samuel Erson from the Philadelphia Flyers.
[01:06:39] Sam, Bobby, you took Erson once too.
[01:06:41] I did take Erson.
[01:06:41] I won that week when I took him.
[01:06:43] Yeah.
[01:06:43] So, uh, our goal turning is such trash.
[01:06:46] Yes.
[01:06:47] I missed that one.
[01:06:48] Who are they playing too?
[01:06:49] They're playing the Anaheim Ducks.
[01:06:51] The Ducks.
[01:06:52] All right.
[01:06:53] So next, tomorrow's garbage goalies are Soderblom, Uka Pekalukonen, and Erson.
[01:07:00] That's it.
[01:07:01] So we'll see.
[01:07:01] Dan, if he texts me before the games start in the morning tomorrow, I'll ask him who
[01:07:06] his goalie is.
[01:07:07] So.
[01:07:08] Good.
[01:07:08] I'll put the poll out on socials too and see what the fans think.
[01:07:12] It's always a fun one for them to take part in.
[01:07:14] Yeah, I like doing that.
[01:07:15] All right.
[01:07:15] We are going to wrap this thing up because I need to go eat a couple of peanut butter
[01:07:19] and jelly sandwiches, and I'm sure guys have better things to do at 11 o'clock.
[01:07:23] Is that your dinner?
[01:07:23] That's my dinner tonight.
[01:07:25] Yeah.
[01:07:25] I'm like a fucking 12-year-old.
[01:07:28] But yeah.
[01:07:29] I do love a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
[01:07:31] I'm not going to question both.
[01:07:32] It's fucking delicious.
[01:07:32] A glass of milk.
[01:07:33] So good.
[01:07:34] That's what I'm going to do.
[01:07:35] Hey, white bread?
[01:07:36] Or are you going into like this all-
[01:07:38] No, it's white bread.
[01:07:39] It's fucking-
[01:07:40] Is it like Wonder?
[01:07:41] Is it like serious white bread?
[01:07:43] Yeah, it's serious white bread.
[01:07:45] Like not as white bread as you, but it's serious.
[01:07:47] Right.
[01:07:47] No, I get Mike's or whatever.
[01:07:51] I don't know what the fuck is.
[01:07:52] Which one's that?
[01:07:53] The guy with the rock star guy.
[01:07:55] That's amazing.
[01:07:56] Dave.
[01:07:56] Oh, Dave's.
[01:07:57] Yeah.
[01:07:58] Dave's bread.
[01:07:58] Oh, you get the fucking protein bread?
[01:08:01] Yeah, I like these.
[01:08:02] Yeah.
[01:08:02] That's good.
[01:08:03] But no, I'm a Wonder Bread.
[01:08:04] Peanut butter and jelly, that's awesome.
[01:08:05] That's why you used to take the Great Adventure.
[01:08:06] We all went, remember?
[01:08:07] Yes, I did.
[01:08:08] I would be the only one with like peanut butter and jelly.
[01:08:10] All my friends had my-
[01:08:10] You'd be the only one that bought lunch.
[01:08:12] And it would be like, oh.
[01:08:13] We couldn't pack lunches.
[01:08:14] Wait a second.
[01:08:14] I knew I fucking recognized you.
[01:08:17] You fucking cut me off in line on the Spider-Man ride 35 years ago.
[01:08:22] Motherfucker.
[01:08:23] I was about to buy a $7 hot dog.
[01:08:24] He was probably eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
[01:08:26] And it was jelly over his face.
[01:08:27] Much like you.
[01:08:29] It was first, before we wrap it up, I'm just-
[01:08:32] I'm at the Batman ride.
[01:08:33] Six Flags is a DC thing.
[01:08:34] There's no Spider-Man ride, but that's fine.
[01:08:36] I grew up in New Jersey.
[01:08:38] I went to the one in Jackson, New Jersey.
[01:08:40] I used to go to the AAA location.
[01:08:43] It's DC.
[01:08:44] It's not Marvel.
[01:08:45] There's no Spider-Man ride.
[01:08:46] I know.
[01:08:47] I know.
[01:08:48] It was Batman.
[01:08:49] I made Spider-Man.
[01:08:50] Batman and Superman and Green Lantern.
[01:08:52] Yeah.
[01:08:53] All right.
[01:08:53] All right.
[01:08:53] Fucking beat it, Eric.
[01:08:54] We go to the-
[01:08:55] It's fucking 40 minutes from our house.
[01:08:57] We go a lot.
[01:08:58] Well, actually.
[01:09:00] All right.
[01:09:00] Go fuck yourself.
[01:09:02] Whoever you're listening to us, go fuck yourself.
[01:09:04] We're the uncle fuckers.
[01:09:05] We'll see you when we see you.
[01:09:07] Bye-byes.
[01:09:08] Yeah.
[01:09:08] Well, actually, Valaket.
[01:09:10] Fucking dork.
[01:09:11] Fucking dork.
[01:09:12] Fucking dork.
[01:09:12] Fucking dork.
[01:09:12] All right.
