The Devils have suffers two losses in a row. The guys break down what it means to get Brett Pesce & Luke Hughes into the lineup. A look ahead at the upcoming back to back road trip.
[00:00:06] Hey everyone, Mr. Devil here, Kenny Danico, three-time Stanley Cup champion of the New Jersey Devils.
[00:00:13] You're listening to The Uncle Puckers, New Jersey Devils Podcast with Chris, Dan, Bobby, and Tony, The Uncle Puckers.
[00:00:20] Let's go Devils!
[00:00:24] What's up, Mr. Bobby?
[00:00:29] What's up?
[00:00:30] What's up?
[00:00:31] What's up?
[00:00:31] How you feeling today?
[00:00:32] Nothing's up.
[00:00:34] Nah, you're trying to goat me and say I'm in a mood.
[00:00:36] I like to start the show with getting your mood and getting a little bit of a pulse on how you're feeling because that usually does tend to see how the rest of the show is going to go.
[00:00:47] So how are you feeling?
[00:00:51] I'm in a bad mood.
[00:00:52] I'm not happy right now.
[00:00:54] Now, before I go on my rant, I do want to say that you did put out a good preview show.
[00:01:00] I've had time to step off the ledge a little bit from the atrocities that happened in the last couple nights.
[00:01:08] But I'd be remiss if I didn't at least say that I'm very unhappy with the way they performed.
[00:01:15] That sucked.
[00:01:16] I know the sky is not falling.
[00:01:18] I know we got some reinforcements coming back.
[00:01:20] I know it's a blip in the radar.
[00:01:22] But it is 10% of the season.
[00:01:24] And right now, I've seen more of last year than this year, at least as of late.
[00:01:28] And it's painfully hard to watch.
[00:01:30] I don't care that they lose.
[00:01:32] I don't care if they make it to the playoffs in the eighth seed as long as they're playing well.
[00:01:37] What I've seen the last two days, especially the last game, with nobody sticking up for anybody as far as the physicality goes,
[00:01:46] I just got transported right back to last year.
[00:01:49] And it really, quite frankly, pisses me off.
[00:01:51] Now, I will say this.
[00:01:53] Are they going to be fine?
[00:01:54] Yes.
[00:01:55] Are they a good team?
[00:01:56] Yes.
[00:01:57] Will they make the playoffs?
[00:01:59] Yes.
[00:02:00] Are they a superpower?
[00:02:01] No.
[00:02:02] Not right now.
[00:02:02] Not from what I've seen.
[00:02:03] They're not a top six contending team.
[00:02:07] They very well could be in two, three weeks, four weeks.
[00:02:11] And I'm sure I will.
[00:02:12] I'll turn around and be the optimistic guy I normally am.
[00:02:14] But this really hurts.
[00:02:16] To follow up the 6-5 crap show to the Capitals by giving up eight is just ridiculous.
[00:02:25] Yeah.
[00:02:27] Yeah.
[00:02:28] Okay.
[00:02:28] It's tough.
[00:02:33] That game was brutal.
[00:02:34] And I actually turned it off.
[00:02:36] I couldn't do it.
[00:02:37] You know, I guess there's positives that, you know, hey, we scored 10 goals in the last two games.
[00:02:42] You know, okay, we gave up 14.
[00:02:45] But, you know, it was as bad of a game as I've seen this team play in a really long time.
[00:02:55] And exactly what you said about the being transported to last year.
[00:03:01] Like that hit, you know, we know the hit, right?
[00:03:03] The hit on Bratt behind the net.
[00:03:06] That was a good hit.
[00:03:08] It was a solid hit.
[00:03:10] Sure.
[00:03:10] It was a hockey hit.
[00:03:12] I have no complaints about the hit.
[00:03:14] But how many times do you see a good, clean hit and a fight breaks out because somebody takes exception to a good, clean hit?
[00:03:22] Right.
[00:03:22] I'm not saying that you got to fight everybody over, you know, every little hit.
[00:03:27] But something like that to one of your star players, you know, it wasn't like it was Lazard getting beat or anything like that, you know, getting hit.
[00:03:35] It was Jesper Bratt.
[00:03:37] So that is a, that's an issue.
[00:03:41] And nobody did anything.
[00:03:42] It was a soft game.
[00:03:44] And I felt that too.
[00:03:45] I just felt that they were just freaking soft.
[00:03:48] So it was disappointing.
[00:03:52] It is.
[00:03:52] I mean, listen, let's be real.
[00:03:54] And again, I know the defense is going to look completely different now, right?
[00:03:57] But anytime this team, a contending team with the talent that we have gets five, that should be a win.
[00:04:06] It should be.
[00:04:07] You're right.
[00:04:13] It's just, it's just, it's just really sucks.
[00:04:19] But again, I understand what it is in the grand scheme of things.
[00:04:24] I understand new coach, new system, coming off surgeries, defensive structure.
[00:04:29] I get all that.
[00:04:30] It's just, for me, it was an effort thing.
[00:04:32] And I actually wasn't even watching the game either.
[00:04:34] I was out at a hayride, haunted hayride with my kid.
[00:04:37] I was getting updates.
[00:04:38] I think the game was scarier.
[00:04:39] And apparently.
[00:04:41] And I was like, this can't, this can't actually be happening.
[00:04:43] He's literally giving me.
[00:04:44] And then, you know, he's like, he's like, do me a favor though.
[00:04:47] He's like, you do need to watch it because there's a lot of weird crap in this game.
[00:04:49] Like you got to watch the game regardless.
[00:04:51] So I tried, you know, I tried to go through it speed wise.
[00:04:54] I saw enough.
[00:04:55] I didn't have to digest everything to know that they laid a pile of shit.
[00:04:59] You know what I mean?
[00:05:00] There was the goal that, the call to off the Mercer goal that was a challenge that there
[00:05:06] was, you know, goaltender interference and no, there wasn't goaltender.
[00:05:10] And so it's no goal.
[00:05:11] And, and then they, you know, get the penalty and then gets a little scores right away.
[00:05:15] I mean, I felt more bad for Jake Allen than anybody else.
[00:05:17] Like he just had a bad night.
[00:05:19] I mean, he had just a shit night.
[00:05:21] And like I said in the preview, like he has been really solid for us since coming over
[00:05:26] from Montreal.
[00:05:27] So he laid one big fat egg, but it was the whole team.
[00:05:31] You know, this was just a culmination of, you know, bad defense forwards, just not being
[00:05:39] strong on the pucks, not being strong against the boards, not, you know, getting hemmed into
[00:05:43] your own zone and then asking Jake Allen to do his best impression of Vitek Vanacek.
[00:05:48] It's not fair.
[00:05:49] And, you know, so this, like you said, the reinforcements are in, right?
[00:05:55] Pesci, Hughes, they're in the lineup today.
[00:05:58] So we have to assume, I didn't see the lines yet, but I guess we have to assume the defensive
[00:06:02] pairing or Dylan, Hughes, Pesci, I mean, Dylan, Hamilton, Pesci, Hughes, and Nemec, Kovacevic.
[00:06:11] Is that what we're doing?
[00:06:12] You think?
[00:06:13] I guess I actually haven't seen the post either.
[00:06:17] You know, one other thing on Allen, you know, to see eight is pretty shocking.
[00:06:21] And a lot of times you would, you don't see that much, but you could see it more because
[00:06:26] usually there's kind of a mercy pull there.
[00:06:28] And then you don't know what happens.
[00:06:29] Maybe you still lose by eight, but it's a five goal against one goalie and three against
[00:06:33] the other.
[00:06:33] Um, you know, Keith said it was Marky's day off.
[00:06:37] There was nothing he was going to do to change that.
[00:06:39] He needed a full on rest day, uh, to not, I guess, throw off the whole schedule or everything
[00:06:43] he had.
[00:06:43] Which kind of makes me think because of that and being so steadfast that it didn't matter
[00:06:48] if they scored 20, Allen was staying in that net makes me believe that Markstrom might
[00:06:52] be playing these back-to-back games both tonight and tomorrow against the Islanders.
[00:06:58] We shall see.
[00:06:59] I guess I think even if that's an idea, a possibility, I think it will hinge on the type
[00:07:04] of game that's played today.
[00:07:05] It's a crisp, clean, you know, 25 save game effort, no major hard saves and running around
[00:07:13] and yeah, maybe, but, uh, no one keep, I still think they're probably going to split
[00:07:17] it, but.
[00:07:18] Well, I mean, let's, let's go over this game, you know, first period.
[00:07:21] It is a lot here, man.
[00:07:23] Jack Hughes, his second of the year from Bratt and Palat at 1102.
[00:07:27] And it was a nice goal, right?
[00:07:29] It was a breakaway.
[00:07:30] Jack, uh, beat Johansson clean, makes it one, nothing.
[00:07:35] You kind of felt good.
[00:07:36] Like, all right, they're scoring first.
[00:07:37] They're doing all the right things.
[00:07:39] Um, and then at 1409, Braden point on the power play, his fourth of the year from Anthony
[00:07:45] Sorelli and, uh, Kucherov.
[00:07:47] Then we get into the second period where, I mean, Timo, I got to give him credit.
[00:07:51] He was one of the only guys that showed up.
[00:07:55] And at 51 seconds into the second, Timo scores his third of the year from Jack Hughes.
[00:08:00] Then at 734, Victor Hedman gets his first from Moser and Getzel.
[00:08:06] And then the Hagel show started at 927.
[00:08:09] Hagel got his third from Sorelli and Petrick.
[00:08:12] Then at 1301, Hagel got his second, his, uh, I'm sorry, his third goal.
[00:08:18] His fourth of the year from Geeky and Sorelli.
[00:08:22] And then at 1553, Brandon Hagel gets his, uh, third, I'm sorry, his third goal of the game,
[00:08:27] his hat trick.
[00:08:28] Fifth of the year from Martinson.
[00:08:30] And, uh, who's this from Martinson from Lilliburg and Sorelli.
[00:08:36] And then at 1728, Victor Hedman strikes again for his second of the game.
[00:08:41] Second of the year again from Brandon Hagel and JJ Moser.
[00:08:45] So at the end of the second period, it was, uh, three, four, what?
[00:08:50] Six, five, five, one, two, three, four, five, six to two.
[00:08:55] And then Nate Bashing gets on the board at 256 of the third, his second of the year from
[00:09:01] Curtis Lazar.
[00:09:02] Then Timo Meyer at 524 on the power play, his fourth of the year from Tatar and Nemitz at
[00:09:09] 548.
[00:09:10] So, you know, 24 seconds after Timo's goal, uh, to make it six to four, um, Getzel gets on
[00:09:19] the power play, uh, scores his second from Kucherov.
[00:09:22] And then at 919, it was a shorthanded goal for JJ Moser, his second of the year from Nick
[00:09:28] Paul.
[00:09:29] And then at 1245, the devil's on a power play.
[00:09:33] Stepan Nason, his third of the year from Hughes and Hamilton.
[00:09:36] And that was it.
[00:09:38] It was brutal.
[00:09:39] Um, you know, eight to five.
[00:09:41] It's just, that's the game you just kind of want to shake off.
[00:09:44] Jake Allen had eight goals on 37 shots.
[00:09:47] Uh, made 29 saves at a seven, eight, four save percentage in that game.
[00:09:51] I mean, that was just, that was a rough one.
[00:09:55] It was, it was really rough.
[00:09:57] There's really not too much more we need to even say about that particular game, but I
[00:10:02] do want to touch more on the defense that we just talked about.
[00:10:04] I want to ask you a question.
[00:10:05] First of all, I actually think if all things are staying equal, it'll probably be Nemec
[00:10:10] and how do you say his name?
[00:10:11] Yeah.
[00:10:12] How do you say?
[00:10:14] Coming out as a line to bring in Pesci and Luke.
[00:10:16] That would leave Siegenthaler.
[00:10:17] Oh, I forgot about Siegenthaler.
[00:10:18] Who are doing really well, but I've been hearing a lot of rumblings.
[00:10:22] And again, there's always these people that are smarter than me with these advanced stats
[00:10:25] and all that are really diving into the, uh, the Dylan Hamilton pairing and saying it's
[00:10:29] pretty awful as far as goals for against and stuff like that.
[00:10:32] So, uh, what do you think?
[00:10:34] You think that it might even look to mix that up?
[00:10:37] Remember the success Siegenthaler had with Hamilton.
[00:10:39] I know they probably don't want to do it tonight because you're already bringing in two.
[00:10:42] Right.
[00:10:42] A whole new set, but something does have to happen.
[00:10:46] You know, that was the most disappointing part about the game to me was that Brendan
[00:10:50] Dylan did not step up after, you know, to do anything.
[00:10:54] I just thought, you know, like that's what you're here for, dude.
[00:10:57] That's, uh, you know, this is part of your game.
[00:11:00] Why was it?
[00:11:01] I mean, I know he was chirping a little bit on the bench, but there was no repercussions
[00:11:06] for what happened.
[00:11:07] And, uh, I wonder if it's started by the fact that Dylan's a professional and said, clean
[00:11:13] hockey hit, I'm not going to retaliate for it.
[00:11:16] Or if there was talk on the bench, like simmer down guys, we don't need to retaliate for that.
[00:11:20] Like, I wonder if it was any of those, but you know, we do talk when that hit happens in
[00:11:25] another way and as a clean hit and we do it, we would say the same thing.
[00:11:28] If some, somebody tried to step up with us and fight, like, it's a good clean hockey
[00:11:31] hit.
[00:11:31] This doesn't warrant a fight.
[00:11:32] And I'm not saying it has to be a fight, but in that moment, in that game, uh, you,
[00:11:38] you dial up the physicality a little bit there after that, at least take, take a nice hard
[00:11:42] run at one of their guys, not to hurt them.
[00:11:43] Of course, you know, just to, you know, check them show that we're, we're not gonna be pushed
[00:11:46] around like that.
[00:11:47] So even that wasn't there.
[00:11:48] So yeah, it's a little bit.
[00:11:49] It was brutal.
[00:11:51] I think that Sheldon Keefe played it really good.
[00:11:53] I think how he handled it, it was, uh, you know, and like you said, this is a brand new
[00:11:58] scheme.
[00:11:59] It's a brand new team.
[00:12:00] I mean, he wasn't, of course he wasn't happy with the way that the game played out.
[00:12:03] Uh, but at the same time, okay, we have to flush it.
[00:12:07] We have to get better.
[00:12:08] We can't dwell on this two losses in a row.
[00:12:11] He ended up one point out of the two losses.
[00:12:13] So it's not a complete and total shit show, but this team I think has a lot of potential.
[00:12:19] It's just a matter of whether or not Sheldon Keefe can unlock it.
[00:12:23] Um, and I don't want to get too far behind the eight ball.
[00:12:28] And, you know, you're looking at teams like the Rangers, like the Capitals that just look
[00:12:32] like unbeatable right now.
[00:12:34] And the devils are working through some shit.
[00:12:36] And I really hope that this now with their team kind of structured and set as far as
[00:12:42] personnel, maybe not so much in where everyone is going to slot throughout the course of
[00:12:47] the year, but at least we know this is probably our, our team, what we're going to see tonight
[00:12:52] for the first time.
[00:12:53] Right.
[00:12:53] Uh, I wouldn't expect a whole lot from Pesci and Hughes today, you know, just coming back
[00:12:57] from surgeries, but I just think them being in the lineup is going to be enough of an emotional
[00:13:01] boost.
[00:13:02] And I love that they're both coming back on the same day.
[00:13:05] I think that's great.
[00:13:06] I love it too.
[00:13:07] And it, it might even be a great thing if, if what you're saying is the kind of simplified
[00:13:11] game for them, right?
[00:13:13] Which is just kind of like Luke doesn't have to be razzle dazzle, but Luke can just say,
[00:13:17] Hey, here's a shot at the point I'm going to take.
[00:13:18] You know what I mean?
[00:13:19] And you just shoot, shoot the puck sometimes.
[00:13:21] Sometimes players are hesitant about that.
[00:13:23] Um, but yeah, it's going to be cool to see them back.
[00:13:25] If even if they play a simple game, that's kind of what I want to see from Pesci tonight
[00:13:28] kind of settle things down.
[00:13:30] Um, and it'll be good.
[00:13:31] The only thing that just kind of burns me up about the two losses we talked about is
[00:13:34] I don't want the inconsistencies to start already.
[00:13:37] Right.
[00:13:37] Because we got the games in hand, so we're already played a lot of games and, you know,
[00:13:42] team look at the Rangers, other world beaters right now.
[00:13:44] But we just talked about, you know, one of our last shows was called Devil's Resilience
[00:13:49] and like, we literally labeled it like no bad habits.
[00:13:52] You know what I mean?
[00:13:53] How they were, they were coming back from a bad game and not going into those streaks.
[00:13:58] And I'm not saying two is a streak and I firmly do believe we're going to win tonight.
[00:14:02] It's just the, those two losses were just eerily similar and bad.
[00:14:06] They were.
[00:14:07] That's most of my concern.
[00:14:08] And look, I think with the, the, the Washington game, you do have to put a little bit of that
[00:14:13] on Markstrom.
[00:14:14] I think he had a bad game, uh, you know, and you could say the same thing about Alan.
[00:14:19] He let some bad ones in, but you know, when you're getting barrage like that and it's just,
[00:14:24] you know, so much time in your own zone, our defenders were just so gassed by, you know,
[00:14:29] after every shift, cause they just couldn't get the puck out.
[00:14:31] So it was, um, I'll tell you though, I did from what I saw, I didn't hate Daniel Missoules
[00:14:39] Missoules game.
[00:14:40] He's a big guy.
[00:14:42] He takes the body.
[00:14:43] He seems like he is good positionally good defensively.
[00:14:47] I think another guy that's in our system that, you know, could be really good for this team
[00:14:51] down the road.
[00:14:53] Um, oh, and even as a stopgap, you know, for a little bit injuries happen, you know, that
[00:14:58] you can put somebody in there.
[00:14:58] It's just defendable, you know, uh, dependable and defendable.
[00:15:01] Um, yeah.
[00:15:03] So yeah, it's always good to see that our depth can come up here and do an NHL job.
[00:15:07] Maybe not for a longterm, but they could slot in and they can get stuff done.
[00:15:10] That is very comforting.
[00:15:12] Um, I'm still a little concerned.
[00:15:15] I voiced my opinion on this about Palat still apparently is on the first line.
[00:15:20] Um, you hate that, huh?
[00:15:22] This guy, I, I, I understand it.
[00:15:25] If it's to get him going and it works, it isn't working already.
[00:15:29] Like again, maybe it's just two games, Trevor.
[00:15:31] He, he just has nothing going on for him right now.
[00:15:34] I think he'd be better off saying, I got, I just got to sit you for a night.
[00:15:38] Take a look.
[00:15:39] You know, I know we don't do that to the cagey veterans and all that, but like, it's a real
[00:15:44] possibility.
[00:15:45] He's, he's, he's missing.
[00:15:47] Yeah.
[00:15:48] His game is not anywhere.
[00:15:50] What it was when he was in Tampa.
[00:15:52] And it's been that way since he's been here.
[00:15:54] I don't know what it is that he just cannot seem to, uh, figure it out here.
[00:15:59] I mean, I, I, uh, how many goals does Palat have as a devil?
[00:16:04] Uh, I'm going to look that up in a second, but let me just read you this that I saw on
[00:16:07] one of the social medias.
[00:16:09] And again, this is stuff that I don't dive into because I don't know, you know, all
[00:16:12] this, but it says Palat has the second worst net rating in the league.
[00:16:16] Worst among forwards, uh, it also goes on to say Dougie has a second worst defensive
[00:16:21] rating in the league and Dylan fifth.
[00:16:23] But again, Palat you're, if you're here and you're not going to provide the offensive
[00:16:30] spark or that kind of third man up big goal needed situation, then I'm depending on you
[00:16:36] to be that all around 200 foot hockey player that at the very least is like a plus player
[00:16:42] and defensively responsible.
[00:16:43] It just, it appears like, you know, I mean, I, I, so.
[00:16:46] I'm just really confused.
[00:16:48] So we're going into Palat's third year as a devil.
[00:16:50] I would be surprised if he has 20 goals in three years.
[00:16:59] Yeah.
[00:16:59] Um, I would agree.
[00:17:01] I don't believe he has that.
[00:17:02] So let's check in that.
[00:17:03] Cause I can check it real quick.
[00:17:05] Um, I'm trying it's.
[00:17:07] You know, I, I just would really love to see, um, tonight, you know, is this again, this
[00:17:13] is a team that I think that the devils are considerably better than, um, and in Detroit, this should
[00:17:20] be, if they play their type of game, it should be a clean win.
[00:17:25] I mean, there really shouldn't be any, any questions here.
[00:17:28] I mean, we're, we're scoring goals.
[00:17:30] We have that part down.
[00:17:32] We can put the puck in the net.
[00:17:33] Now we just have to go and, and, you know, lock it down defensively.
[00:17:38] Uh, and that's.
[00:17:39] Yeah.
[00:17:40] And.
[00:17:40] Go ahead.
[00:17:41] I'm sorry.
[00:17:42] And from what I heard, um, the shits are going around Detroit.
[00:17:45] So they're going to be without some key players or at least, you know, some regulars.
[00:17:49] Um, there, I think, I forget who they're starting, but I think it's their backup.
[00:17:53] Um, so I mean, again, this has all the makings of an upset, but it really shouldn't be.
[00:17:59] And then to get back to Palat, 49 games in the 22, 23 season, 71 last year, eight so
[00:18:06] far this year, eight goals in 2023, 11 in 2024 and none.
[00:18:12] So yes, 19 goals.
[00:18:14] Exactly.
[00:18:14] Under, under 20.
[00:18:16] Currently he has played in eight games.
[00:18:18] He does have an assist with one point.
[00:18:20] He's a minus six averaging 12 minutes of ice time per game with seven shots.
[00:18:26] That's seven shots.
[00:18:28] Like 10 games and Pilates has seven shots on goal.
[00:18:31] Yeah.
[00:18:31] You're not, you're not going to score.
[00:18:33] And it's just, I liked Cotter up there.
[00:18:36] I thought that that was a good move.
[00:18:38] Um, you know, but look, I'm willing to, to give Sheldon Keefe, of course, all the, all
[00:18:44] the benefit of the doubt.
[00:18:46] He knows what he's doing and I'm sure he's still trying to figure out what's the way to
[00:18:49] get the best out of these guys.
[00:18:51] And I, and when you look at it logically, it makes sense if you want to get the most
[00:18:56] out of Palat to put him up with Bratt and Hughes, it makes sense.
[00:19:00] Uh, but he just has completely lost his game.
[00:19:06] He has.
[00:19:07] So let's, um, just so we're not digging on him the whole time.
[00:19:10] Let's just look, you know, 30,000 foot view where we're all, where we're as a team.
[00:19:14] Okay.
[00:19:15] Cause you got, uh, Nason and Meyer leading the team with nine points, Bratt and Heischer and
[00:19:21] Hughes all with eight.
[00:19:23] Then you got your Hawes, Cotter at six, Kovacevic at five, Tatar, Bastion, Seamus Casey all
[00:19:30] with four.
[00:19:32] Dougie with three, Brennan Dillon with two, Palat with the one point, Lazar with one point,
[00:19:37] Siegenthaler with one.
[00:19:38] That's okay.
[00:19:38] Nemec one, having a bad game.
[00:19:40] Curtis McDermott has nothing.
[00:19:42] I don't know he's played.
[00:19:43] He's played a game and you miss you who only has one.
[00:19:46] So, so, I mean, I'm not just trying to like drag Palat through, I mean, other with the
[00:19:52] exception of, I mean, Brennan Dillon's a defenseman.
[00:19:54] Mercer's got three.
[00:19:56] That surprised me.
[00:19:57] It looks like Mercer's playing better than just three points so far on the year, but then
[00:20:00] it's just, but you see when, you know, Palat, this is where Palat should be racking up some
[00:20:05] points.
[00:20:06] Now he's playing with two guys that can get open.
[00:20:09] They can find open space.
[00:20:10] They can, you know, Palat has to do his job.
[00:20:12] Now I'd see him just missing passes.
[00:20:15] I just, you know, just every time he has the puck in the Tampa game, he had the puck up
[00:20:19] against the boards.
[00:20:20] He got completely bitched off of it.
[00:20:22] And, and, you know, Palat's supposed to be this grinder.
[00:20:25] He's supposed to be like how he was in Tampa.
[00:20:28] And it's like, dude, we haven't seen any of that.
[00:20:30] So yeah, he's gotta, he's gotta turn it on.
[00:20:33] And, and he's one of the few guys that I'm okay with this because yeah, it's only 10 games
[00:20:39] in nobody deserves to be getting shit on, but this has been going.
[00:20:42] It's been going on for two years now.
[00:20:44] Right.
[00:20:45] This is not new.
[00:20:45] So, so, all right.
[00:20:47] We're done with you for now.
[00:20:48] We're going to do.
[00:20:50] Change our mind tonight.
[00:20:51] You're on the first line.
[00:20:52] I'm not even saying you got to score.
[00:20:53] Just play the game.
[00:20:54] I know you can play and just start going.
[00:20:56] Do we have lines for tonight yet?
[00:20:59] I have not.
[00:21:00] I just went on.
[00:21:01] I went to go look for Amanda Stein stuff and she didn't have the lines yet.
[00:21:04] Yeah.
[00:21:05] And I think the forward, I did see something earlier.
[00:21:08] I just didn't take a screenshot.
[00:21:09] And I think the forward group was staying the same, which is why I made a note here to
[00:21:13] talk about plot.
[00:21:14] So it was plot.
[00:21:14] Hughes, Brat, Meyer, he's your Mercer, Cotter, Hall and Mason to tar Lazar bastion that I
[00:21:20] saw.
[00:21:20] I think it's got that.
[00:21:21] That's what it's going to be.
[00:21:23] And the defensive pairings.
[00:21:24] I did not see because they just kind of, you know, announced it today.
[00:21:27] So I don't know that anybody's ready to pencil in exactly where they're going,
[00:21:31] but Amanda Stein should do it.
[00:21:32] I mean, unless COVID Savage gets sat, which I don't, I mean, he did have a rough game
[00:21:37] against Tampa.
[00:21:39] You know, maybe you would do what Nemec and Siegenthaler are done.
[00:21:45] Well, again, I mean, the one line, you know, the one pairings coming up and they're, they're
[00:21:51] all together.
[00:21:51] So if you, if you dropped COVID Savage down, you would put Nemec with, with Siegenthaler
[00:21:55] unless you decided to move Siegenthaler.
[00:21:57] And, you know, for what it's worth for COVID Savage as great as he's played.
[00:21:59] I mean, I think that if you ask anybody at the beginning of the year with the skillset
[00:22:03] and everything, he was kind of penciled in as that seven guy in and out, not saying
[00:22:08] sit all year.
[00:22:09] So if you're going to make some big changes on the D tonight would be maybe an okay night
[00:22:14] to try that too, you know, cause your original plan with having kind of that offensive mentality
[00:22:19] paired with a defensive guy now can finally, finally be in place as you originally saw it.
[00:22:24] You know, I had a bad weekend.
[00:22:27] Okay.
[00:22:28] So my Vikings lose on Sunday for the first time in a really tough game against Detroit.
[00:22:34] And then Monday, the, or Saturday we lose to Washington, right?
[00:22:40] When was the, the, the game, Tampa game was Tuesday, right?
[00:22:45] Yes.
[00:22:46] Tuesday.
[00:22:47] So I, you know, Devils lose on Saturday, Vikings lose on Sunday and then Devils lose
[00:22:51] again on Tuesday.
[00:22:52] So now it's Thursday.
[00:22:54] I can completely write all these wrongs in one night.
[00:22:57] I got the Vikings playing the Rams at eight 15 and I got the Devils playing the Red Wings
[00:23:02] at seven.
[00:23:03] So this is going to be a night where I hope that Devils and Vikings come through with
[00:23:08] flying colors and no more bullshit.
[00:23:12] Let's get back.
[00:23:13] How are we, how are we doing this again?
[00:23:15] How are you managing this?
[00:23:16] Well, the TV, Oh, I think Tony's on his way in.
[00:23:19] Hey, what's up, Tom?
[00:23:20] How are you, buddy?
[00:23:21] What's up guys?
[00:23:22] Good.
[00:23:23] Doing good.
[00:23:24] Doing good.
[00:23:24] Um, to answer your question though, I would, I'll watch the first period on the big TV
[00:23:29] in my living room for the Devils.
[00:23:31] And when the Vikings start, they go on the big TV and I watched the Devils on my laptop
[00:23:35] or my phone.
[00:23:36] So that's how it's going to ask you that same thing tonight.
[00:23:39] Yeah.
[00:23:39] Cause it look, I got 72 more devil games to go.
[00:23:42] So I have plenty of time to watch them on the, but you know, you only get one football
[00:23:46] game a week.
[00:23:47] It's got to go on the big TV.
[00:23:49] Not to mention that normally I work on Sundays and I'm always stuck watching the Vikings
[00:23:53] on my phone, on my phone.
[00:23:55] So it's nice to, yeah.
[00:23:56] It's like a little treat, a little purple treat.
[00:24:00] So Tony, we already did all the bitching, man.
[00:24:02] I don't know if you want to jump on and say anything real quick, get it off your chest,
[00:24:05] but you know, I was actually taught, I was just thinking about something about football
[00:24:08] with Christmas talking.
[00:24:09] I was talking to someone, somebody else about an hour ago and I was saying, I was like,
[00:24:13] man, I don't even know if I like enjoy football.
[00:24:15] Like I watch it every weekend, but I swear to God, man, it's always like my heart is
[00:24:20] on the ground at the end of it because, and it's every year it never changes.
[00:24:24] Like, I mean, ever since my team was in the Superbowl many years ago where we traded our
[00:24:29] coach to that team who beat us that same year, which is insane.
[00:24:33] I mean, I have to think to myself, have I enjoyed a game since then?
[00:24:36] I, a few, but just sporadically, man, it's been, I mean, it's been a long 20 years.
[00:24:43] So Tony, when was the last time they were in the Superbowl?
[00:24:45] Against the Buccaneers, man.
[00:24:47] What was that?
[00:24:47] Yeah, it was 2009?
[00:24:49] 2002.
[00:24:51] No, that's who I think it was.
[00:24:53] Yeah, they were against the Bucs.
[00:24:54] They got, and we traded, the Raiders traded the coach, the Gruden to the Bucs.
[00:24:58] And then we had Callahan as the coach and he didn't change.
[00:25:02] I remember that now.
[00:25:02] He didn't change any of the plays.
[00:25:04] I mean, and Tim Brown was mic'd up and Jerry Rice, you know, was a big deal.
[00:25:09] And just, uh.
[00:25:11] Yeah, that was a Superbowl, just, they routed you.
[00:25:14] So when was their last championship?
[00:25:16] Oh God, it was 83?
[00:25:18] Yeah, it was when they were in LA.
[00:25:20] I've never seen them win.
[00:25:21] I've never seen them win.
[00:25:23] Worse than 86 myths for me.
[00:25:25] So, okay.
[00:25:25] Yeah.
[00:25:25] Long suffering.
[00:25:26] I get it.
[00:25:26] I've never seen them win.
[00:25:27] And the thing is, and Chris knows this as a Superbowl watcher, you know, it was, it was, um, the worst, the thing with the Raiders was, is they lose dramatically every time.
[00:25:38] It's always like some crazy story.
[00:25:40] You know, like when they lost, I think it was 2003 when they lost in the Bucs in the Superbowl.
[00:25:43] There was a story there.
[00:25:45] Gruden's on the sideline.
[00:25:46] It's like this big thing.
[00:25:47] There's, it's always when Brady with, uh, who was, yes, the greatest quarterback ever, but the snow game, you know, the top rule, it's always something dramatic.
[00:25:54] There's always.
[00:25:54] Never goes in their favor.
[00:25:56] There's always some drama around the Raiders, no doubt.
[00:25:58] And the worst part about football is when your team shits to bed and loses, you got to wait a whole week before you, you know, you, you feel you can get back to feeling good.
[00:26:07] And then they lose again.
[00:26:08] It's like, great.
[00:26:09] I felt like shit for the last three weeks now because my team stinks, at least with hockey.
[00:26:13] It's every other day, you know?
[00:26:16] So if I'm reading between the lines here, I think Tony has given the devils the big screen and football on the phone.
[00:26:22] Oh my God.
[00:26:22] We got Kansas city.
[00:26:24] Oh God.
[00:26:25] You don't even need, you just, just get updates.
[00:26:28] Kansas city got a D hop now.
[00:26:31] So they got, have a middle threat.
[00:26:33] They got some deep threat with worthy.
[00:26:34] They're going to, they're going to be all right.
[00:26:36] But at this, yes, I mean, Holmes is already looking like he can challenge for quarterback super bowls.
[00:26:43] He's going now.
[00:26:45] What was the, cause the Latin Raiders won the super bowl in Tampa.
[00:26:47] It was 84, right?
[00:26:48] Against the Redskins was that actually in Tampa.
[00:26:50] Obviously I was not there, but I've never seen them really be successful, man.
[00:26:55] I've seen him go to the playoffs, but it's so, and now it's even more disappointing.
[00:26:59] Like this year I'm going to, I'm taking my wife to our first Raider game against Tampa coming up.
[00:27:03] And I mean, I told her, I was like, you might have a shot in that one.
[00:27:06] Now you got Godwin out for the year.
[00:27:09] Mike Evans out.
[00:27:10] He's going to be out for a month.
[00:27:11] He's out till week 12.
[00:27:12] So we won't see him, but you know, they find a way to lose, but how are you guys doing?
[00:27:17] Yeah.
[00:27:17] The devil's, you know, still early, man.
[00:27:20] It's a little frustrating.
[00:27:22] Um, I think, you know, we get some guys back tonight, so I'm excited about that.
[00:27:26] I think that might be a good boost, uh, but definitely, you know, good to see jacket go.
[00:27:30] Yes.
[00:27:30] You know, starting to produce.
[00:27:33] I'm not really worried about it, but I do think it's way too early now.
[00:27:36] Eventually, you know, you got to worry a little bit because, you know, there's still a lot of question marks, but, uh, last game was, was not, was not a fun one to watch.
[00:27:44] And, you know, that's the thing though, like 20 games in, we'll have a great idea of what this team really is.
[00:27:51] And now I think with the lineup set and it's going to take a couple of games for everybody to get comfortable again with each other.
[00:27:58] But the good thing about it, that Luke and Pesci being injured together, that they started skating together.
[00:28:04] They were practicing together.
[00:28:06] They are now going to be aligned together.
[00:28:08] So I think that they should get up to speed relatively quickly with just getting to know each other and stuff like that.
[00:28:15] It's not like just one guy getting thrown in with a new pair, new pairing and trying to figure it out.
[00:28:20] Like these guys have spent a lot of time together so far this year, which is awesome.
[00:28:26] Yeah.
[00:28:26] Pesci said today he's really looking forward to playing with Luke after practicing with him and seeing what he's capable of doing and his skill set.
[00:28:34] He's like, this is just going to be a lot of fun.
[00:28:35] He's super excited.
[00:28:36] Are they playing tonight though?
[00:28:37] I don't think it's both.
[00:28:38] They're both actually in the line of time.
[00:28:40] Okay.
[00:28:41] All right.

[00:31:14] Yeah, that's the lowest ones.
[00:31:15] $1,500 ticket?
[00:31:16] The lowest ones.
[00:31:17] I bet you if you go on GameTime, you can find it maybe a little cheaper.
[00:31:19] Yeah, but then you've got to get out to LA.
[00:31:21] That's another problem.
[00:31:23] Even in New York, though.
[00:31:25] New York, it was like $15 was the lowest and $14 was in LA.
[00:31:28] Yeah, it was the lowest.
[00:31:28] Out of my price range.
[00:31:30] And so stupid.
[00:31:31] And Venezuela.
[00:31:32] What are you guys expecting for tonight in the game against Detroit?
[00:31:38] Like, Bob, what are you expecting tonight?
[00:31:42] Not what are you hoping for.
[00:31:44] What are you expecting?
[00:31:47] I am expecting them to come out with everything.
[00:31:52] I think they have the same report that I already mentioned, that there's an illness going through Detroit.
[00:31:57] They're shorthanded.
[00:31:58] Kick them when they're down.
[00:32:00] Just go for it straight.
[00:32:02] You know, talking first goals and all that, even though that hasn't worked out for us.
[00:32:07] It's not going to be a perfect game, but tighter, crisper, and they'll be back to sticking up for each other and playing for the next guy.
[00:32:14] Tone?
[00:32:17] Yeah.
[00:32:18] I mean, you have to.
[00:32:19] Like, Chris, I think we were talking about the other day on the phone.
[00:32:21] Like, you have to stick up for the guy that was really disappointing in the last game, man, when we saw the hit on Bratt and then nothing happened.
[00:32:28] That was, you know, I mean, and it was a clean hit, I think.
[00:32:30] I don't think it was a bad hit, actually.
[00:32:31] Well, that's what I want to ask you, because we talked a little bit about it.
[00:32:33] Because it was a damn good hockey hit.
[00:32:36] There's nothing you can question.
[00:32:37] It was a good fucking hit.
[00:32:38] And so Dylan doesn't drop the gloves.
[00:32:42] Nobody does.
[00:32:44] And play goes on.
[00:32:45] Are you okay with that?
[00:32:47] Because it was a clean hit.
[00:32:48] So you want to see somebody, would you want to see him drop the gloves and actually fight?
[00:32:52] Or at least make yourself known that that's not going to be tolerated?
[00:32:57] Make yourself known.
[00:32:58] Make yourself known.
[00:32:59] I mean, obviously, like we said, it was a clean hit.
[00:33:02] But you still, I still don't think, hockey, you know, even if you go back to 90s even, you can't put up with that shit.
[00:33:07] You have to at least let them know that you know what they did.
[00:33:10] Like, if someone, say me and Bobby are on a team and someone levels Bobby, of course I'm going to get up in their grill.
[00:33:15] Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa.
[00:33:16] How can't they level you?
[00:33:17] I mean, Bobby's probably dead now.
[00:33:19] You know?
[00:33:21] No, but I mean, no, but you got it.
[00:33:23] I don't know.
[00:33:23] It's hockey, man.
[00:33:24] You got to get up in their faces no matter what.
[00:33:26] You get in their faces if someone's in front of your goal too long.
[00:33:28] So, I mean, obviously, if they deck your dude, you can get in their faces.
[00:33:31] I always get annoyed when there's a clean hit and they drop the gloves.
[00:33:36] It always annoys me that, you know, come on, it was a clean hit.
[00:33:39] But then it happened to Brat.
[00:33:41] And I wanted to see it go the way that I hate it going.
[00:33:45] And so I know that this is just me with devil-tinted glasses on and wanting what's best for the team.
[00:33:52] But I agree that somebody had to at least do something.
[00:33:56] And I'm even okay with taking a shot at one of their guys.
[00:33:59] And Sal said it during the broadcast.
[00:34:01] He was like, well, it was Sal or Danico.
[00:34:03] They're both – somebody brought it up and they were talking about it.
[00:34:05] Like, I guess it's open season now on their guys because you just went after Brat.
[00:34:10] Like, you know, okay, so what about we go after Goetzel?
[00:34:14] You know, you're not going to go after Hedman because he's the largest guy I've ever seen in my freaking life.
[00:34:19] But, you know, you do have other guys, you know, and we didn't do anything.
[00:34:23] Like, and we just let them skate all over us.
[00:34:26] I don't know what goes on in a team's head like when they're in a game like that.
[00:34:31] Like, that's just – like, what's happening?
[00:34:33] Like, you know, there's no way that you can just get out of it, I guess.
[00:34:38] It's just – it's got to be the worst feeling.
[00:34:41] One of those games that takes on a life of its own and no matter what you do, it's out of hand.
[00:34:45] It's outrageous.
[00:34:46] Saves aren't being made.
[00:34:47] Plays aren't being made.
[00:34:49] You just need to get through it and go on to the next one.
[00:34:51] And going to what Chris was saying, Chris, I don't think the Devils are not a nasty team.
[00:34:56] Like, you know how some teams are just nasty when they play them?
[00:34:58] Yeah, like we used to be.
[00:34:59] The Devils don't have – it's not in their – yeah.
[00:35:02] You know, back in the day you had an answer to Lemieux or Stevens.
[00:35:04] Well, you basically had an answer to Stevens.
[00:35:05] You might get nailed by Lemieux.
[00:35:07] You know, I mean, their team was built different.
[00:35:10] And our team, we have some tough guys, but we don't have the nastiness.
[00:35:13] Like, you play certain teams, you know, like, they're up in your shit.
[00:35:17] Like, you played Florida, especially two years ago.
[00:35:20] You know, it was a nasty team.
[00:35:21] The Devils aren't built like that.
[00:35:23] That's not in the blood of this team.
[00:35:24] And you can – I think you saw that last year.
[00:35:26] And maybe it's not their fault even, but it's just something that's not in this team.
[00:35:31] We don't have to be the nasty team, but they need – they brought in people to curb this kind of stuff.
[00:35:37] You know, I just wanted to see a little more –
[00:35:38] They got to play heavier.
[00:35:39] They have to play heavier.
[00:35:41] They have to just – you know, the guys that are there for that, that's your game.
[00:35:45] You got to play that game.
[00:35:46] Let the other guys do – let everybody just do what they do best, and this team will be fine.
[00:35:50] Everybody trying to do too much or too little.
[00:35:53] And you're going to get eight-five losses and six-five overtime losses and bullshit like that.
[00:35:58] Now, I don't think the Devils have to score the first goal tonight to win.
[00:36:03] I think they have to score the first two or three to win because we are scoring first, but then we're giving it up right away, right?
[00:36:11] Like, we're always – yeah, we got the first goal, but we're always going in at the end of the first, either tied at one or –
[00:36:17] so I want to see them just lay it on.
[00:36:20] I think we have the advantage over Detroit in every category.
[00:36:24] Our forward group, our defensive group, our goaltenders.
[00:36:27] Like, I mean, it's probably going to be Alex Lyon in net tonight against Markstrom.
[00:36:32] Markstrom is considerably the better goalie by far.
[00:36:36] Like, we should have – I don't want to say it's an easy game, but you got to win by two or three goals here.
[00:36:43] Like, you got to – this has got to be a five-to-two, a five-to-three win.
[00:36:47] That's how I'm feeling.
[00:36:50] Yeah, that's great.
[00:36:52] I think it's going to be exciting either way.
[00:36:53] I think there will be an energy change just from, you know, the two guys that are coming in there.
[00:36:58] I just really – yeah, I really think it's huge.
[00:37:00] I think the whole team knows what those two people bring.
[00:37:04] Nobody's got to see Pesci yet at all.
[00:37:07] So it's just going to be exciting.
[00:37:08] Cohen, did you see any lineups yet or anything?
[00:37:11] I haven't.
[00:37:11] No, that's why I didn't know they were going to be in the lineup tonight.
[00:37:13] I actually heard like three hours ago it was that it wasn't 100% yet.
[00:37:17] But they were going to be – they're off the, you know, the injured list.
[00:37:20] They're going to be playing.
[00:37:20] But I didn't know they were both going to be in tonight's lineup.
[00:37:23] I wonder if they're paired up or not.
[00:37:24] Well, it looks like they're going to be because that's pretty much they've been, like we said,
[00:37:28] practicing together and stuff.
[00:37:30] So I think it's going to be those two together.
[00:37:33] You know, we're trying to figure out who's going to be the odd man out.
[00:37:36] Is it going to be Kovacevic or is it going to be Nemec?
[00:37:39] You know, that's probably going to be Kovacevic, I think.
[00:37:42] It'll probably end up being Siegenthal or Nemec.
[00:37:44] Yeah.
[00:37:45] Which they played together last year.
[00:37:47] It's going to be interesting.
[00:37:48] Didn't they?
[00:37:50] Or was Siegenthal mostly with Marino last year?
[00:37:54] I don't remember.
[00:37:55] I was with Marino, but I'm not 100% sure.
[00:37:57] But, you know, look, the last two games, like you got to go back
[00:38:01] and you look at the way we played against Utah.
[00:38:03] You look at the way we played against the Buffalo games.
[00:38:06] And I know that these were lesser opponents, but I go to that Utah game.
[00:38:09] That was just a solid 60-minute effort start to finish against a good team.
[00:38:14] You know, Utah is a good team.
[00:38:16] I think Utah might be better than the Red Wings.
[00:38:18] Like that's the type of game we have to play tonight.
[00:38:21] And then we got to roll into a very important game tomorrow.
[00:38:24] But, again, with what Allen did last night or two nights ago,
[00:38:30] I honestly think Markstrom is getting the start in these next two.
[00:38:35] I think he'll go back to back.
[00:38:38] Again, the only problem I foresee with that is if he does do that,
[00:38:42] then they're off Saturday and they have the Ducks on Sunday.
[00:38:47] So that would – depends on whose game that is because then there's two days
[00:38:50] off before they play Vancouver on Wednesday.
[00:38:52] So if he played two and then they sat him and they played Allen on the 27th,
[00:38:57] that's one, two, three, four days off.
[00:39:00] Again, rhythm, I don't know.
[00:39:02] Goalies like to play.
[00:39:03] Is the Vancouver game in Vancouver?
[00:39:05] So that's a 10 o'clock start?
[00:39:07] Yes, 10.30.
[00:39:08] Yeah, I hate those games.
[00:39:10] I hate it.
[00:39:11] Tony likes them.
[00:39:12] He gets up for breakfast.
[00:39:13] That's right.
[00:39:13] So if that game starts at 10.30, it starts at what, 5.30 in the morning?
[00:39:18] Yeah, 5.30 in the morning.
[00:39:19] Usually I wake up for the kids while I was like those Coast Gamesmen.
[00:39:23] I just put them on while I'm getting the kids ready for school.
[00:39:25] And I'll put them on my phone and put it in the car and stuff like that.
[00:39:27] So that'll be nice next month.
[00:39:30] I'll be able to watch some games regular time and go to some games.
[00:39:32] So when are you coming in?
[00:39:35] We leave here on the 6th.
[00:39:38] Oh, the day after Election Day.
[00:39:40] Yeah, the day after.
[00:39:41] We're flying in.
[00:39:42] We're not leaving the apartment for the first 24 hours.
[00:39:45] I told my wife we're going to stay inside just in case the nuts are out.
[00:39:49] So we're going to do that.
[00:39:50] And then we're going to the game.
[00:39:52] We're going to the Devils game on the 16th, I believe it is, in Tampa.
[00:39:56] So we'll go to that and see how they – we always try to catch them when they're in town and stuff like that.
[00:40:03] So that's why we didn't go to Prague, actually, because we knew we were going to be in Florida.
[00:40:08] So it just made more financial sense to go see them in Florida.
[00:40:12] We've got to hop on the podcast after the Tampa game so we can talk about how we just beat them 8-5.
[00:40:19] And there's a bunch of Devil fans going out there.
[00:40:22] I've already heard from one of the guys that Lunatic Vic who runs all the Let's Go Devils stuff,
[00:40:27] like the Devils all day, all night, actually, it's called.
[00:40:30] They're already setting up a whole thing there.
[00:40:32] So there's tons of – when you go to those Tampa games, there's a shitload of Devil fans there.
[00:40:36] It's a lot, yeah.
[00:40:38] Florida, California, they don't have too many natives.
[00:40:40] It seems like that's all people from our world is in the country.
[00:40:42] Atlanta's crazy.
[00:40:44] My sister lives down there, and I don't know many people that are born in Atlanta.
[00:40:48] They're all from up here, everywhere.
[00:40:50] And they all bitch about the traffic constantly.
[00:40:52] Yeah, well, I mean, look.
[00:40:53] You know your traffic sucks when you're from like New York or North Jersey,
[00:40:57] and you're complaining about traffic.
[00:40:58] This is true.
[00:40:59] I mean, I'm not a giant fan of big cities, but Atlanta's a pretty cool one.
[00:41:04] It's a pretty fun city.
[00:41:06] Tons of trees, tons of parks.
[00:41:08] Weird for a city to have that many parks.
[00:41:09] And we saw Def Leppard there, and they were freaking awesome.
[00:41:13] Yeah, that was fun.
[00:41:15] So guys, anything else you guys want to go over tonight before this game starts?
[00:41:19] I got one quick thing.
[00:41:22] I just got this little like pinwheel of wins for the Devils all time.
[00:41:25] This is obviously before we played Utah because it has it at zero.
[00:41:29] Oh, by the way, congratulations to Jake Allen, right?
[00:41:31] First goalie to beat all 33 teams.
[00:41:34] Wow.
[00:41:34] Ah.
[00:41:35] By beating.
[00:41:35] Yeah.
[00:41:36] Yeah, so that's pretty cool.
[00:41:38] Not many goalies had a chance to do that.
[00:41:39] You got to be in the league a long time just for that chance to even happen.
[00:41:42] So yeah, he got that out of the way.
[00:41:43] And the first team to shut out the Utah Hockey Club.
[00:41:45] First goalie, I mean.
[00:41:46] Yeah.
[00:41:46] So that's, yeah.
[00:41:48] First team to beat them.
[00:41:48] They've only lost two games this year.
[00:41:50] Who, Utah?
[00:41:51] Yeah.
[00:41:52] Yeah, they've only lost like four, two, and one, I think, or something like that.
[00:41:55] Not bad.
[00:41:55] Yeah.
[00:41:56] So I'm not going to go over this whole wheel.
[00:41:57] I just want to see what your reaction is.
[00:42:00] Who do you think is the team we have the most wins against?
[00:42:03] All time?
[00:42:05] All time.
[00:42:06] Does this include playoffs or just regular season?
[00:42:10] New Jersey Devils franchise all time.
[00:42:12] I'm going to think it's regular season.
[00:42:15] Yeah.
[00:42:16] The most wins against all time, it's got to be, I'm going to go the Flyers.
[00:42:23] Buffalo Sabres.
[00:42:24] You're going Buffalo?
[00:42:25] So we've got one Flyers.
[00:42:26] I'm going to say Flyers.
[00:42:26] I'm going to say Buffalo.
[00:42:28] Okay.
[00:42:29] So let's see.
[00:42:30] Buffalo, you're about a quarter down at 74 wins, Tony.
[00:42:35] Flyers, Chris, you are close.
[00:42:36] You are second at 124.
[00:42:38] So Washington?
[00:42:41] Rangers?
[00:42:44] Washington.
[00:42:45] No.
[00:42:45] No.
[00:42:45] I don't think we do good against Washington.
[00:42:47] Yeah.
[00:42:48] That was a career record.
[00:42:50] Washington is 97.
[00:42:51] So it's a few away.
[00:42:53] What's Rangers?
[00:42:54] Rangers would be our third at 110.
[00:42:57] That would be the Islanders.
[00:43:00] I'm sorry, not Metropolitan.
[00:43:01] Pittsburgh?
[00:43:02] Oh, it is Pittsburgh.
[00:43:03] 128.
[00:43:04] Yeah.
[00:43:05] Islanders at 98.
[00:43:07] And then a bunch group, you know, 50, 60, 70.
[00:43:09] Some of our least wins.
[00:43:11] It's kind of hard to do because a lot of expansion teams in there, obviously.
[00:43:15] What's the most recent non-expansion era, would you say, from St. Louis on?
[00:43:19] Yeah.
[00:43:20] About there?
[00:43:21] Like people on the Flyers.
[00:43:22] So surprisingly, we've got like 42 wins against the Avalanche, 46 the Canucks, 48 Chicago,
[00:43:30] 48 Dallas, 49 against Detroit.
[00:43:33] And that's basically in our 50 group there.
[00:43:34] Boston, Panthers, Tampa Bay, Detroit.
[00:43:38] These are all the years, too, that Detroit was in the Western Conference.
[00:43:41] So you saw them twice a year.
[00:43:42] That's right.
[00:43:43] You didn't see them three times.
[00:43:44] So that's interesting.
[00:43:47] I just thought that was kind of interesting.
[00:43:48] It is.
[00:43:49] I don't think I would have guessed Pittsburgh either.
[00:43:51] I would have thought my mind's in Metro mode, right?
[00:43:54] So I would have thought right away.
[00:43:56] You forget that it was the divisions were separate.
[00:43:58] We were different for all those years.
[00:44:00] Who was in the original like Patrick division?
[00:44:02] I don't even know.
[00:44:05] I mean, I got to look that up real quick.
[00:44:07] Rattle my brain after working all day.
[00:44:08] While Tony's falling asleep.
[00:44:12] Let me look this up real quick and then we'll get out of here.
[00:44:16] What time is your game tonight, Chris?
[00:44:18] 9 o'clock tonight?
[00:44:19] 8.15.
[00:44:20] 8.
[00:44:22] So yeah, that starts at 8.15.
[00:44:24] The original Patrick division was the Penguins, the Capitals, the Devils, the Islanders, the Rangers.
[00:44:32] No, what the hell?
[00:44:33] This is not it.
[00:44:36] Hang on a second.
[00:44:37] This is wrong.
[00:44:39] The Patrick division.
[00:44:44] I'm trying to find this.
[00:44:46] Okay.
[00:44:46] Division lineups.
[00:44:48] So in 74 and 79, it was the Flames, the Islanders, the Rangers, the Atlanta Flames, and the Philadelphia Flyers.
[00:44:58] In 79 and 80, it was the Atlanta Flames, the Islanders, the Rangers, the Flyers, the Capitals.
[00:45:04] And then 80, 81, it was Calgary Flames, New York Islanders, Rangers, Flyers, Capitals.
[00:45:11] And then 81, 82.
[00:45:14] Let's see when we joined here.
[00:45:16] 82, 83 with Devils, Islanders.
[00:45:19] This is the first conference, the first division the Devils were ever in.
[00:45:22] The Devils, the Islanders, the Rangers, the Flyers, the Penguins, the Capitals.
[00:45:26] And that was it.
[00:45:28] So.
[00:45:29] All right.
[00:45:31] That's the way I still like it.
[00:45:32] Same here.
[00:45:33] Not a lot of travel.
[00:45:35] So, Tone, anything else you want to jump in?
[00:45:37] Give me a score.
[00:45:38] What do you think?
[00:45:39] First goal?
[00:45:42] Man, I've been saying it's a tar with this first goal.
[00:45:44] I don't know.
[00:45:45] I'm going to say, you know what?
[00:45:47] I'm going to say Jack Hughes.
[00:45:48] Maybe he'll like have some momentum from the last game.
[00:45:51] And I'm going to say six to three Devils.
[00:45:54] Six to three Devils.
[00:45:54] Jack Hughes, first goal.
[00:45:56] Okay.
[00:45:56] What do you got, Bob?
[00:45:59] I'm going for the flair, for the dramatic.
[00:46:01] It's going to be Luke Hughes.
[00:46:02] On that simple blue line play, like I said.
[00:46:05] Okay.
[00:46:05] I was going to go with Luke Hughes, but I'm going to get, I had two guys.
[00:46:09] This is Luke and Bobby picks Luke.
[00:46:11] I'm going to go with Andre Palat.
[00:46:12] The first goal of this game, six to double win.
[00:46:20] I like it too.
