[00:00:56] Hey everyone, Mr. Devil here, Kenny Danico, three time Stanley Cup Champion of the New Jersey Devils.

[00:01:17] And you're listening to the Uncle Puckers New Jersey Devils Podcast with Chris,

[00:01:22] Dan, Bobby and Tony, the Uncle Puckers. Let's go Devils.

[00:01:26] Yes, let's go Devils into the playoffs. Oh, wait, that's not happening. But we are

[00:01:32] the Uncle Puckers. It's Tony, Bobby, I'm Chris and we have our friend Tim Wood sitting

[00:01:38] in with us tonight. So welcome, Tim. How are you buddy?

[00:01:41] Good. Thanks for having me guys. Fun to join. Playing golf tomorrow just like everyone else on the Devils.

[00:01:48] So I'm pretty excited about that. Tim, tell us like how did you become a Devil fan?

[00:01:55] What was your introduction into this fandom of yours of ours?

[00:01:58] I should say. Yeah, I know I'm a Jersey kid.

[00:02:02] You know, I'm from Red River Cranberry playing my whole life and you know,

[00:02:08] I didn't really have a team actually when I got kind of good.

[00:02:11] I was going out to Philadelphia because it wasn't really anything in Central Jersey

[00:02:15] and every kid on my team, like I just hated every single one of them.

[00:02:18] I was like, I cannot be a Flyers fan because everyone in my town was a Flyers fan.

[00:02:22] So then Johnny Maxx scored that goal in 88 and my dad let me stay up late for that.

[00:02:29] And I was just like, you know what? This is it.

[00:02:30] This is the team I'm picking. What was that?

[00:02:34] 98 you said? 88 when John McClane scored on Darren Dan when they made the glass first time.

[00:02:39] And I let me stay up late for that game and that was it.

[00:02:45] Devil's fan for life now. Nice.

[00:02:47] And now you're amongst your down a little further south.

[00:02:51] So are you amongst mostly what capital fans now?

[00:02:54] Yes. Well, it's a weird place.

[00:02:56] So like the local rank and like there isn't much hockey around where I am.

[00:03:01] It's kind of somewhere between Philadelphia and DC again.

[00:03:05] So when I came down here, my nephew plays.

[00:03:09] This is my brother's house and when he's playing we go to local rank and I skate around with him.

[00:03:15] Everybody's running Flyers Jersey.

[00:03:16] And I was like, I can't let this happen.

[00:03:19] So I got him in a Mexican Jersey.

[00:03:21] So they jumped on the calf fan wagon and I want to work out pretty well for them a couple years ago.

[00:03:27] So it is a country like DC's probably 45 minutes and it's a pain in the ass to get to.

[00:03:34] And look, I'm an old man now.

[00:03:36] I'd much prefer to sit on my ass to go.

[00:03:39] Oh, absolutely.

[00:03:40] Absolutely.

[00:03:41] I mean Bobby's in Pennsylvania.

[00:03:43] So Bob, you know what it's like to be around Flyer fans all the time.

[00:03:47] Yeah, you're what Maryland?

[00:03:48] Bobby's language right now.

[00:03:50] Yeah, it's rough.

[00:03:51] You're in Maryland now Tim.

[00:03:53] Yeah, I'm in Maryland.

[00:03:53] I'm in Northwest Maryland.

[00:03:54] I'm like I'm like 20 minutes from Gettysburg.

[00:03:58] Just right on the border.

[00:04:00] We lived up in West Virginia for a few years.

[00:04:02] My dad used to work for the Redskins actually for a time and he used to actually everything was out of Maryland there.

[00:04:08] All the Redskins shit was out of Maryland.

[00:04:10] Everything kind of ran out of there.

[00:04:11] So we used to go to Maryland all the time.

[00:04:13] Yeah, that was they were in Landover, right?

[00:04:15] I think yeah, and I think their offices actually are still in College Park even though that stadium has moved around a little bit.

[00:04:22] Yeah, he worked for Jack King.

[00:04:24] And then the the Cavs the Cavs were moving to Virginia and then they weren't moving to Virginia.

[00:04:28] That was a lot of drama down here.

[00:04:30] So let's say the same with the commanders, right?

[00:04:33] They were moving back to Virginia and then for some now there's a new lease that they're looking at in the greater DC area.

[00:04:40] So I mean, yeah, they're all over the place.

[00:04:43] Yeah, it's a cool area.

[00:04:46] You know, I was living in an apartment in New York and I have a 70 pound pit bull.

[00:04:50] We work in outside much during the pandemic and then you know, I am on a farm here on a 50 acre farm with a pool and a barn.

[00:04:57] You're going to track your stuff.

[00:05:00] Cool.

[00:05:00] Go party at the podcast farm.

[00:05:02] I know, I know like it's the best thing is crank that volume up.

[00:05:06] You know, we're getting alerts on my watch and you're like your volumes too loud.

[00:05:09] Like I'm telling Siri I'm like, you have no idea the concerts I've been to.

[00:05:14] So I'm not this is going this is this is going away.

[00:05:21] What kind of music you into?

[00:05:24] Pretty firmly in that sort of 90s grunge rap hip hop.

[00:05:29] You know, your Wu Tang is probably top 10 for me.

[00:05:34] Nice.

[00:05:37] When I was married, I went through a country phase and I'm gladly I'm out of that now but um.

[00:05:43] So you know that.

[00:05:44] Siri 6XL it's pretty much lithium and Rock the Bells are my two stations.

[00:05:49] I don't know Rock the Bells.

[00:05:50] I don't think I've ever listened to that one.

[00:05:52] Is that a Napoli station?

[00:05:53] It's it's like LL Cool J is his kind of thing and it's it's honestly like 90s early 2000s hip hop.

[00:06:01] It's awesome.

[00:06:02] We saw LL Cool J.

[00:06:04] It's just it's just banner after banner, you know, so it's a lot like lithium like they'll go on runs and just like like this is like me smoking cigarettes out of my car driving like up and down the turnpike as a kid.

[00:06:17] I said this story before when I was taking my son up to the game up to see the Vegas game and he you know, likes a little bit of the you know, was starting to get into like Foo Fighters and Nirvana and stuff and I had lithium on basically the whole time and he was just blown away.

[00:06:33] He was like, this is like one of the greatest eras of music.

[00:06:36] I was like, yeah, you know, you don't realize it when you're in it.

[00:06:39] But this is what this is the shit that was on the radio when we were in high school, dude.

[00:06:42] This is you know, we didn't have satellites and phones and iPads and or you know, apps and shit to just download music on which I man.

[00:06:55] I wish we had that when we were kids.

[00:06:57] I remember.

[00:06:58] I mean, you remember recording stuff off the radio and if you miss a song, you just absolutely.

[00:07:02] Yeah, you just missed it.

[00:07:03] You put the tape in you had like playing the core going ready to go and you got the DJ would always cut the beginning out in the end out.

[00:07:10] And you're just like, God damn it, man.

[00:07:11] Shut up.

[00:07:13] Remember the first rate first box I ever had to have the dual cassettes.

[00:07:17] So you record the cassette that you're listening to on to a blank tape and give it to your buddy.

[00:07:22] It was the coolest thing ever doing fast forward to right?

[00:07:26] Yeah, you can do that.

[00:07:27] You do like three quarters of time.

[00:07:28] Yeah, I was just talking the other day actually about the same kind of the same thing on this other show.

[00:07:33] I do about those prices of tickets back then.

[00:07:35] Back when we were in high school, like you would go see like Nirvana played at the City Gardens for seven bucks.

[00:07:41] But whole surfers for like nine bucks.

[00:07:43] You know, I mean just crazy, crazy prices back then.

[00:07:47] You look at now where you're paying even to see bands.

[00:07:50] You don't really care about you have to fucking pay like 50 bucks to go save.

[00:07:53] You know, back then I was going through these old flyers all the City Garden flyers.

[00:07:57] I was like, man, it's like five bucks, seven bucks.

[00:07:59] And I mean, it's bands that you would pay now a hundred bucks to go see.

[00:08:04] Easily.

[00:08:05] Yeah, it's like the fees that Ticketmaster times are like ten times that now to go somewhere.

[00:08:11] They're getting sued I think or there's some sort of class action or something like that against Ticketmaster.

[00:08:15] There has been right?

[00:08:16] They've been doing that.

[00:08:17] Like I remember Pearl Jam was coming down on them for a while and a bunch of other bands were saying they didn't want their stuff sold through Ticketmaster

[00:08:24] because you know, they're a monopoly and they jack up all the prices and all the other bullshit.

[00:08:28] The bots buy them all out by the time you get them.

[00:08:31] The bots are on the mountain selling for a fortune.

[00:08:33] All right, how about we talk a little hockey?

[00:08:37] How about that?

[00:08:38] Let's go.

[00:08:38] We got the playoffs starting tomorrow, which you know, I'm excited about even though the Devils aren't in it.

[00:08:43] But let's talk a little Devils first.

[00:08:47] Bobby, you have some stuff you want to talk about Tom Fitzgerald's interview.

[00:08:51] I want to go about that.

[00:08:52] So take it away.

[00:08:53] Yeah, I thought we just kind of start some of the highlights of his little presser.

[00:08:58] I guess after all the exit interviews, these are just a few of the highlights I took from it.

[00:09:03] Tim, if you listen to it or read it and you've got any others, feel free to jump in here.

[00:09:08] From the top, he's got a lot of belief in the core still, of course, and that he believes last year was no fluke.

[00:09:16] I think by the way that most of this press conference was, I mean, lip service in a way.

[00:09:22] I mean, there's nothing shocking here.

[00:09:23] This is kind of like everybody should know exactly what things that he's that he's saying here.

[00:09:29] He believes he knows exactly where he needs to upgrade the team now.

[00:09:33] He went on to say that they're a fast team when they think and play quick.

[00:09:40] And that was an interesting quote to me because everybody knows they were a fast team and they are still capable of being a fast team.

[00:09:47] But to say when they think and play quick.

[00:09:50] So I think I believe my heard air.

[00:09:53] Well, and also the system.

[00:09:55] Yeah, but I also took the fact that these guys just all year like they were not getting the pucks off their stick.

[00:10:02] They weren't making those fast decisions to push the puck up the ice as quickly as they were last year.

[00:10:08] They were, you know, so many times in their own and dicking around with the puck looking for a pass instead of just getting it out trying to get a break.

[00:10:16] And I think that's kind of maybe what he was talking about with that.

[00:10:20] Like, you know, they're not even though they have the speed.

[00:10:22] They're not being put into positions where they can underlying message here was that we didn't utilize an asset that we have properly right now.

[00:10:31] He mentioned several times about the players buying in beyond the ice like you mentioned the weight room, I think three or four times as I know I noticed that.

[00:10:39] So he's definitely got some players.

[00:10:40] He thinks maybe aren't putting in the extra that it really kind of takes to be a top echelon player.

[00:10:46] I don't know who he's calling out, of course, but he mentioned that quite a bit.

[00:10:49] Yeah, you know, it's what really stuck out to me on that.

[00:10:51] If you notice is one thing that he said of all that, because I feel like a lot of it was just bullshit.

[00:10:54] Like you said, it was just kind of like you could just see the disappointment.

[00:10:57] He looked deflated.

[00:10:58] I thought completely what he said something about the dress code on the team, which I found really kind of fascinating actually because about too much people taking advantage of, you know, you give a little they take a lot whatever.

[00:11:10] Right.

[00:11:11] And I really that's the one thing that caught my mind.

[00:11:13] And I started thinking about some of the younger players we have on our team, some of the bigger players we have on our team.

[00:11:18] I don't know for some reason that that really I believe is a discipline problem maybe in some of this stuff.

[00:11:24] You know, we have Lou obviously for all those years who whether people like it or not, man, it works and the people bought into it.

[00:11:30] You know, I always heard I hear people all the time being like, oh, Lou was this.

[00:11:34] Lou was that the newer fans.

[00:11:35] But when I hear the old players, man, they said you knew what was expected of you.

[00:11:39] You had a role and you knew like what your ex you couldn't come on like you can five o'clock shadow.

[00:11:44] I think the structure and the discipline, I think were two things that he was calling out.

[00:11:50] I think and like you said too about the weight room and stuff like that.

[00:11:54] There were a few things that I kind of took away of him, you know, not happy with, I guess.

[00:12:00] Of course, the product on the ice, but not happy with the product on the ice.

[00:12:04] And I think that's the thing that I think is really important to me.

[00:12:07] You know, not happy with I guess.

[00:12:11] Of course, the product on the ice, but not happy with how these some of these guys, I think were handling themselves off the ice.

[00:12:17] I think and just kind of maybe to carefree of an attitude and not taking the job as seriously as you should or if you want to win a cup.

[00:12:26] Tim, would you make it?

[00:12:28] Yeah, that and to my point about the actual on ice play like that was a lot of it was kind of lip service.

[00:12:33] But I got the same thing that you guys did that sort of there's this even Travis Green brought up the weight room too,

[00:12:40] you know, and it's like there's this underlying tone of like there's a bit of a country club kind of attitude going on.

[00:12:46] And I also got the vibe that a lot of these guys because they kept bringing up maturity and I kind of read into that.

[00:12:52] There's maturity on the road where they're not making mature decisions about being professionals.

[00:12:57] So I kind of read in that like they're going out in the road and they're not concentrating and that's not folks and that kind of then,

[00:13:03] you know, you sort of tie all that together with the on ice play and you're like, you know, they're giving it the first time.

[00:13:08] You know, that's you know, that that kind of I think that becomes that becomes the thing and I,

[00:13:12] you know, I know it's a bit of a cliche what he said about was it what you permit is what you promote which is which is an interesting quote.

[00:13:22] You know, I think it's it was a lot of lip service.

[00:13:25] But what I really got the same thing that you guys did is that there's a bit of a cultural kind of softness going on.

[00:13:31] Yeah, and I think that's the general theme that we're talking about here with him as a round out here because you know,

[00:13:37] he was on to say of course about the maturity that we got to grow from this year.

[00:13:43] Learn how to kind of win and be the type of player players that you need to be to win a cup.

[00:13:48] And then he went in reference again that they're still the sixth youngest team in the league.

[00:13:52] Yeah, it is kind of taking all that right.

[00:13:54] And he's kind of putting it all in a package for you with a little bit of frustration behind it.

[00:13:59] And he goes on to say that, you know, they're like who do you want?

[00:14:02] What's the type of players you want this team and he says hockey players quote unquote,

[00:14:06] you know those that work hard every day have a passion for the game was his big thing and he wants them tough to play against but not just in the physical sense that we've been preaching all year like everything from blocking a shot being hard on the boards.

[00:14:18] Just a tougher out harder to play against in general.

[00:14:22] And one of the coolest things he mentioned to me and I agree with this completely.

[00:14:26] I think he even specifically mentioned it from like a third line, the momentum line.

[00:14:30] Maybe you didn't say the third line.

[00:14:31] He said we need another one of those momentum lines coming back and I couldn't agree more.

[00:14:34] I mean two years ago maybe was a third line.

[00:14:37] Maybe it was the fourth probably the fourth, you know what that line brought was such a bonus over what he said.

[00:14:42] Maybe two maybe two momentum lines.

[00:14:45] That's right.

[00:14:45] You know, like that's right.

[00:14:47] There definitely is a culture and that's a you know, a buzzword that so many GM's and analysts and reporters like to use but it is a real real thing.

[00:14:57] Yeah.

[00:14:57] When you you know, you talk about the New England Patriots, right?

[00:15:02] And you know, love them hate them indifferent to them.

[00:15:04] It doesn't matter.

[00:15:05] They were a dine at dynasty unlike anything that I think we'll ever see again.

[00:15:10] And it was the way that they carried themselves and you could hear from players new players.

[00:15:15] They come on that team and as soon as they got in that dressing room, it was a completely different culture.

[00:15:21] It was not there was no fucking around.

[00:15:23] There was no bullshit.

[00:15:24] There was you were here for one reason one reason only and that is to win.

[00:15:28] And if you're here for any other reason, there's the door and a lot of great teams Tampa Bay had it when they were winning cups.

[00:15:34] There is a culture and when a head coach stays the same like John Cooper that culture is no,

[00:15:41] you know from the time that they won their first cup right up till today.

[00:15:44] It is just ingrained in them.

[00:15:46] We had it back in the in the 90s early 2000s, you know, you came here and it was a business.

[00:15:53] It was a job and it was soldiering as such right exactly.

[00:15:56] Yeah, and and that's what you know, and and when you put that work in and the winds start to come well,

[00:16:03] then that's where the fun begins, but it's not all fun.

[00:16:06] All right.

[00:16:07] I mean, it shouldn't be all fun.

[00:16:09] It's not a fucking day camp.

[00:16:10] It's you know, you're playing a sport for a living getting paid a lot of money to do it again.

[00:16:15] That's where Lou came into that whole business thing.

[00:16:18] That's where it all I mean, I really believe it stems from all that people want to go shit on Lou,

[00:16:22] you know, hey he's in the playoffs right now.

[00:16:25] We're not.

[00:16:26] Yeah, that's right.

[00:16:27] So true and just look right brought up the maturity thing which I thought was very interesting when a player was vocal about that saying we were very

[00:16:38] And he was making it more we were very immature about the decisions.

[00:16:41] We were making on the ice, you know, just we seemed like a young team that just you know, didn't know what we were doing

[00:16:49] and he felt you know a lot like what we do know what we're doing and there's no excuse for that.

[00:16:54] But you know back it up to like the weight room and getting tougher and having you know that kind of who's the first guy you're hearing about

[00:17:01] that Fitzgerald trying to sign Curtis McDermott like he wants him back in the lineup like he wants this guy on this team

[00:17:07] and I get it.

[00:17:08] I want him on the team, but you know, that's definitely something that was lacking until he got here.

[00:17:16] Yeah, I mean we got to have it we've been saying for two seasons now, you know, we need two guys like that.

[00:17:21] Actually, we need a few of them.

[00:17:22] Definitely, you know, I think they're I think it's either going to be I believe he'll be back.

[00:17:27] I don't think Smith will be back.

[00:17:28] I think one of those two will be back and I think McDermott now Tim, you know, we talked about the four main goalies

[00:17:37] that we're looking at a couple of head coaches that are, you know being circled around if you could have your druthers.

[00:17:43] What coach will start with coach?

[00:17:46] What coach would you want and is there's anybody that we haven't mentioned on the show that you can think of please?

[00:17:54] I think Barubeeth is the guy that kind of checks all the boxes and again, that's kind of a corny phrase, but I think he makes a lot of sense.

[00:18:03] You know, he's one he's tough.

[00:18:05] He brings that kind of character.

[00:18:06] You know, you look at the way he played and I think he kind of can bring can bring that into and bring that sort of more business like culture into the Devils.

[00:18:15] I think there are a few guys that may be a little bit interchangeable in that regard.

[00:18:20] I don't know what he's like systems X's and O's wise, but I also think a like a lot of the assistants actually deal with the X's and O's and stuff like that as well.

[00:18:29] Like you look at, you know, you talk about the speed that this team has and they were a rush-based team and they kind of surprised people two years ago and they generated so much their offense off the rush.

[00:18:40] But when they didn't they were able to actually maintain in-zone presence with losing Burnett.

[00:18:44] It seemed like we lost that in-zone presence all of our chances seem to be rush-based.

[00:18:49] They're one and Don's block shot is back out of the zone.

[00:18:52] We just lost so much of that in-zone presence that also is the toughness that goes into conditioning that goes into winning board battles.

[00:18:59] It goes into really really being a pain in the ass to play again.

[00:19:02] So I think it would be for Ruby.

[00:19:03] Sullivan would be a great choice to Pittsburgh lets him go when it from what Dubis was saying it doesn't sound like Sullivan's going anywhere and I think Crosby loves him and Crosby is not going anywhere out of the box choices.

[00:19:15] I love this Carl guy in Denver.

[00:19:19] He seems like he's got really got his shit together and he's a younger coach.

[00:19:23] He's 34 or 35.

[00:19:25] I don't know anything about him.

[00:19:26] He is David Carl.

[00:19:27] So he just won the national championship with Denver.

[00:19:30] Okay, one two is one two and three years.

[00:19:32] He was he was projected to be like top 10 pick and had heart problems.

[00:19:37] He has that the heart wall is thick.

[00:19:41] I think so he couldn't show you had to retire playing speed him a coach.

[00:19:45] So he's a really good coach and I like you know college hockey is a little bit different because it's a lot more sort of chip and chase.

[00:19:53] But what he can do in Denver, she doesn't have he didn't have Will Smith or Carter go to a or any of these high end prospects and they still won the national championship.

[00:20:01] They actually shut those guys down.

[00:20:03] They won two nothing in the national championship game.

[00:20:05] So he would be a great choice.

[00:20:06] I was like Rand Pecknold who's the coach of Quinnipiac.

[00:20:09] I think I mentioned to you before.

[00:20:10] Yes, you did.

[00:20:11] He recruited me to college where I played and then he left my first year.

[00:20:18] But you know out of the box often there's I think his name is Bronberg.

[00:20:23] I think in Finland or Sweden or something like that.

[00:20:26] I don't know much about him, but I've seen his name bandied about but I don't think Fitz is going to go out of the box.

[00:20:32] So these are going to be safe reliable simple and I wouldn't be surprised if Travis Green wants to be back in the coaches chair either like well, you know Travis Green.

[00:20:43] I actually listen to his exit interview and kind of I liked a lot of the stuff he was saying and you know, he kind of made it sound like there was a lot of things that he wanted to do differently with these guys that he couldn't that he even mentioned like they haven't seen my whole personality.

[00:21:01] He mentioned training camp a lot and how much he is a big proponent of training camp and how you have to install and build that culture from day one and you know, a little bit like making it sound like, you know, hey give me the opportunity and I can do something with this.

[00:21:18] I'm still on the fence about Travis Green, you know, I don't know.

[00:21:23] I mean, I know the Q's spoke very highly of him in his exit interview.

[00:21:28] You know, so it does seem like he you know, the guys like them and they have a good rapport with them, but I'm not sure about that.

[00:21:35] Where are you guys Bob Tony and Tim on Travis?

[00:21:37] Yeah, I'm really not sure yet on Travis.

[00:21:43] I mean, I didn't see enough.

[00:21:46] I didn't see a team respond enough and I don't mean obviously we talked a lot about systems change and you can't, you know, globally do it with 22 games left.

[00:21:55] But that initial spark of fire and coach and doing better we thought would lead to a little bit more of a consistent run.

[00:22:03] And I just seem like the team followed it at the end and maybe that's a foundation of the fact that they were so bad and knew they were out of it.

[00:22:11] But I didn't like kind of the ending effort that I saw doesn't mean Green can put it all together if he had a whole year.

[00:22:18] I think it's a little dangerous.

[00:22:19] I think I agree though.

[00:22:20] It's a little dangerous.

[00:22:21] I think hiring Travis Green, you know, I think there is that little bit of, you know, more of a chance of having a repeat of this year.

[00:22:28] Well, let's let's then let's get into what fit said about the head coach and then we can see how where he fits in this because didn't have a ton to say it was a little bit cryptic.

[00:22:37] He did say he wants the coach in place for the draft, which is good and understandable.

[00:22:41] Of course, he wants a really good communicator both up and down players down and management up good and bad and specifically collaboration even reference himself like with me like really wants kind of that communication with him and how they kind of manage the player.

[00:22:57] So you definitely get a sense there that fits.

[00:22:59] He's definitely got his hands in there.

[00:23:01] Yeah, a lot.

[00:23:02] He said he wants somebody who holds every player accountable and he extended that every, you know, he did.

[00:23:09] Free passes for Jack Hughes anymore.

[00:23:11] Is that it potentially or Luke even, you know, of course Luke situation was a little different.

[00:23:18] He was kind of thrust into position where he had to kind of perform more than maybe expectation.

[00:23:22] But sure any star player did say he liked what he saw from green and that he checked out a lot of his, you know,

[00:23:27] Boxes, right?

[00:23:28] So the boxes are everybody knows what the boxes are.

[00:23:31] Nobody needs to go into those particular boxes, but he didn't want to say he's a no-nonsense guy.

[00:23:36] Now Chris you I didn't see the interview with green that seemed like a no-nonsense guy because that is the type of coach.

[00:23:43] I think this team needs I don't know.

[00:23:45] He seems like a no-nonsense guy.

[00:23:47] Okay, he you know, he made his case and I thought he did a decent job of it and I wouldn't be you know,

[00:23:56] I wouldn't be on the fire Fitzgerald train day one if they hire Travis Green.

[00:24:02] I'm willing to see how it plays out with a full season in a full training camp.

[00:24:06] But I mean we talked about Craig Barube the day after he got fired from the Blues, you know,

[00:24:12] I like what Craig Barube brings.

[00:24:14] I like that stern hard-ass accountable coach that's you know going to put you know,

[00:24:20] make sure that these guys are playing the right way because that was just something that we didn't see enough

[00:24:26] of this year, you know taking shortcuts taking shifts off taking whole periods off taking games off even you know,

[00:24:33] it's just that that's unacceptable and you know the maturity level on this team and you know,

[00:24:39] Tony I think was the one that really brought it up like, you know when this team first started kind of looking

[00:24:44] like this could go sideways early in the season.

[00:24:47] You know, Tony was the one saying like everything came so easy to these guys last year, you know,

[00:24:52] is it just part of that they walked in thinking that they didn't have to earn it.

[00:24:58] They can just go and do it and it was going to come to them and meet not realizing there's 31 other teams that are out there

[00:25:03] thinking and doing the exact same thing.

[00:25:06] So,

[00:25:08] Yeah, as I was very much death by a thousand cuts but coaching wise,

[00:25:11] right.

[00:25:12] Green said all the right things but the results weren't exactly there at the end of the season and Bobby's points a great point about

[00:25:20] making making, you know, wholesale systematic changes.

[00:25:24] You can't just do that in the middle of the season, you know, especially with with rust diesel and flood system like

[00:25:29] you can't just overhaul that one when that's what you're used to playing.

[00:25:33] So I don't know like I don't know what his systems look like what he preaches but they were a little bit more defensively

[00:25:40] responsible, but they also got better goaltending but the scoring drive up and I don't know if the scoring drive now was

[00:25:46] Those are running out like six AHL or center on six.

[00:25:50] You know, it's it's in Jack's playing with one arm.

[00:25:52] Yeah, so there's just so many different little pieces that said it said into the season falling apart on them.

[00:25:58] But I think you know culturally and you know,

[00:26:03] There was a country club attitude.

[00:26:04] It seems like and it seems like that's really what it went me personally.

[00:26:08] I'm just jaded by the give a new guy a chance thing lately in sports for my teams in particular.

[00:26:14] I just want to prove the winner for a year or two Stanley Cup guy and then you go ahead and take you know,

[00:26:20] the young the young kid who hasn't managed before and thinking the game different whatever you want to do,

[00:26:25] but I just need a backfire with the message in a backfire with the Devils and for me.

[00:26:29] I just want that consistent.

[00:26:31] I know it's kind of vanilla rights the same coaching pool all the time.

[00:26:35] But you know, I just want that winning pedigree which is my last point on the coaching here.

[00:26:39] Yeah, and I know why Fitzgerald wouldn't say this because he's got candidates who wants to consider that don't fit this bill.

[00:26:46] But I would have liked to have heard something about having a Stanley Cup pedigree that wasn't one of his boxes a Stanley Cup champion coach

[00:26:54] and I know again, I know why he's got green sitting right next to him.

[00:26:58] He's supposedly in the running so you can't kind of put these guys on the bus like that.

[00:27:02] But frankly, that's what I would have wanted to hear.

[00:27:05] Yeah, I agree.

[00:27:06] I think prerequisite for a head coach should be winning a Stanley Cup a coach with this team.

[00:27:13] Yeah, they are the six youngest team in the league having a coach that's been there and done it and taking a team to Stanley Cup

[00:27:19] or even just a really deep run which Lindy rough did have in Buffalo,

[00:27:23] but really a cup and knowing what it takes for a team to go on that run not just make the playoffs,

[00:27:30] which the devil's proved is not so easy in this league.

[00:27:35] You know points were just especially at the end of the year in our whole division and conference in general.

[00:27:41] They were just really hard to come by and you know,

[00:27:44] so making it to the playoffs is hard enough and then to go on a two month stretch of winning 16 games to get it done.

[00:27:50] I mean that is that you have to be in it to know what it's like and we don't have as many guys on this team that have won cups.

[00:27:58] So having that coach I think is really something smart that he can kind of teach these guys how to do it.

[00:28:06] You know Chris you brought up Brats exit interview and how might have been the best voice that you heard as far as the maturity and all that

[00:28:13] and it's interesting to me that it was Brad because if you go back to the beginning of the season,

[00:28:18] I think before game one somewhere in preseason it was Brad who said that we've earned the right to have this pressure on us now

[00:28:27] you know to be a team that's picked to be you know one of the top five six teams to revive for a Stanley Cup.

[00:28:33] He was vocal about it then, he's vocal about it now.

[00:28:37] He did for the most part have a very great year and is a leader on this team

[00:28:41] and I think he's maybe that one guy who really gets it.

[00:28:45] He has turned into the leader that I never thought he was going to be when he first started

[00:28:50] but he really has and he's a voice in this locker room that I think the guys respect and they listen to

[00:28:56] and everything that comes out of his mouth now.

[00:28:59] I feel like this is one of the main leaders on this team, you know, I get it Nico's got to see but I feel like this team

[00:29:05] the Jack Hughes doesn't like talking in a media.

[00:29:08] He's very aloof when he's around them.

[00:29:10] But and you know, Nico, he sure for so many years has to go out there and just talk about how bad the team was,

[00:29:16] you know that can kind of get to you and stuff.

[00:29:18] But I thought that I think just for Brad stepping up now and just kind of being that other voice in there.

[00:29:23] You need that. It can't just be one leader.

[00:29:25] It can't just be one guy, even though he has a C on his jersey, you know back in Devils are winning cups.

[00:29:30] It was Niedermeyer, Brodeur, Danico, Stevens.

[00:29:34] You had leaders in that locker room and it's kind of what they need now.

[00:29:39] We'll see.

[00:29:39] Chrissy Flair, do you read any of her stuff from the hockey news?

[00:29:43] She put out a couple of pieces.

[00:29:45] And Bob, I don't know if you're done with the pitch for me, but just on the Brad thing.

[00:29:51] You know, some news stories, kind of some behind the scenes stuff, you know, just talk to Lazar and Smith and Tierney.

[00:29:56] And they basically all said and Tierney in particular was actually cool with saying

[00:30:01] Brad was the most impressive person from a professionalism and work ethic position on the team,

[00:30:09] which is really surprising.

[00:30:10] And you go back to his interviews from from preseason that you're talking about like he really was saying,

[00:30:15] you know, he really sounds like an incredibly dedicated person.

[00:30:18] Like by the beginning of the year, he was so fucking fast.

[00:30:21] Like he was so much faster than everybody.

[00:30:23] He just belonged to the people.

[00:30:24] And he got to be even better scared than he was last year.

[00:30:28] It is incredible.

[00:30:29] So I'm going to keep, you know, keep just a rat train.

[00:30:32] I'd give him an A.

[00:30:33] I'd take it from Jack.

[00:30:35] I take it off a lot.

[00:30:37] I'll be honest with you.

[00:30:38] I give it to him and take the A off a lot and give it to Brad.

[00:30:42] But and on a personal note, he is one of the nicest guys I've ever met in my life.

[00:30:48] Jesper Bratt.

[00:30:50] Yes.

[00:30:51] I met him in Sweden.

[00:30:52] He was so freaking nice.

[00:30:55] I mean, he's in a restaurant having dinner and he took time.

[00:31:00] We talked to pictures.

[00:31:02] We bullshitted for a little while.

[00:31:03] He was just a super, super nice guy.

[00:31:06] Chris does a really good Jesper Bratt impersonation actually too.

[00:31:10] I do.

[00:31:11] Yeah, you hear the voice.

[00:31:12] You got to do it now.

[00:31:14] Do the frog voice.

[00:31:16] Don't you do the frog voice?

[00:31:17] No, what are you talking about?

[00:31:19] One of our old episodes.

[00:31:20] Never mind.

[00:31:21] But yeah, one of our old episodes.

[00:31:22] You were quoting a Jesper Bratt interview and you started mocking his voice, but it was perfect.

[00:31:27] I don't remember doing that.

[00:31:29] I have to dig that up.

[00:31:30] Yeah.

[00:31:30] All right.

[00:31:30] Dig that up.

[00:31:31] I was going along with the bit.

[00:31:32] I don't know if you did it.

[00:31:33] It's about time you go along with the bit by now.

[00:31:35] What the fuck?

[00:31:37] Fit country.

[00:31:38] He plays Grant's voice.

[00:31:40] Is he looking to come with the frog voice?

[00:31:41] I don't think, yeah.

[00:31:42] I guess he, I mean, I don't know.

[00:31:44] Apparently, I had a voice and I can nail it.

[00:31:47] You did it Chris.

[00:31:47] It was killer, man.

[00:31:48] Jofano made the playoffs.

[00:31:50] Yeah, he did.

[00:31:51] Jofano made the fucking playoffs and we're sitting around with our thumbs up.

[00:31:54] He's been hitting us up constantly too.

[00:31:55] Jesus Christ.

[00:31:56] I know.

[00:31:57] We got to get him on the show.

[00:31:58] What about goalies Tim?

[00:32:00] Who do you like?

[00:32:01] Like I said, this is a waffle in this all for the Pasco ways.

[00:32:05] I don't think Tom Fitzgerald is going to do it because the second whoever we

[00:32:09] pick gives up four goals in the first game.

[00:32:11] We're going to be like, fuck you, Fitz.

[00:32:13] You fucked up.

[00:32:14] You're fired.

[00:32:15] Fire, Fitz.

[00:32:17] Okay, so I'll bring it on this way.

[00:32:19] I think you talked to Chris, I think, in the first while.

[00:32:22] I think he might be my guy.

[00:32:24] This dude Sam, Jasper Burner on Twitter talked me into it.

[00:32:28] So I think wherever he's gone, he's put up good numbers.

[00:32:31] They've been limited and WinPed plays like a pretty lockdown system.

[00:32:34] But I think we can get him for three, four years, like three,

[00:32:38] four million and that, you know, because you got to consider the cap constraints

[00:32:42] that we're going to have is loose.

[00:32:43] I mean, extension damage is going to be an extension.

[00:32:46] Thank God Mercer had a down year because we can, you know,

[00:32:49] underpay him.

[00:32:50] Yeah.

[00:32:52] What I think is going to happen, I think it's still going to be Mark

[00:32:55] Schroem.

[00:32:56] I think he has two more years on his deal goalies age are a little

[00:33:00] bit older of a curve.

[00:33:02] I think, you know, he's and look, we're all old.

[00:33:05] It's like people like he's so old and I just like turned to dust on Twitter

[00:33:08] every time someone says, well, you're younger than me.

[00:33:11] Like, it's surrounded by children on this app.

[00:33:16] But but I think I don't see any reason why he can't be successful.

[00:33:21] You know, all Mark is great to Sarras would be amazing.

[00:33:25] Sarras is pretty small and athletic and I don't know and he's played a lot

[00:33:29] of hockey.

[00:33:30] I don't know if he would actually hold up and he's only got one more

[00:33:32] year and he wants eight and a half after this.

[00:33:35] That's just not a not a deal that the devil's going to afford.

[00:33:38] That's why I think Mark is going to happen because he's cost control for

[00:33:41] two years.

[00:33:42] It gives Dawes and Schmidt time to develop in the age and then one of

[00:33:45] those two, I think those one of those two has shown the

[00:33:49] capability that they can be an NHL level starter.

[00:33:52] They just need more time to develop.

[00:33:53] They got thrust into things too quickly.

[00:33:55] I mean, Dawes got his hip resurface and then like three weeks later was

[00:33:58] like our starting goalie.

[00:34:00] When he first came up and started, you know for the Devil's, he was

[00:34:03] actually playing pretty well.

[00:34:04] But anyway, you know, he kind of fell apart, you know, Schmidt in

[00:34:08] the playoffs last year.

[00:34:09] So I think those two have it in them.

[00:34:11] It's just I like to kind of battle those two against each other

[00:34:14] in the age L from March when we come up.

[00:34:16] All Mark would be great.

[00:34:17] Sarras would be great.

[00:34:18] They're probably be more expensive than all Mark the way all Mark

[00:34:21] sorry, Markstrom when Markstrom played the last 10 games.

[00:34:24] He's made the price range could be like a third round pick and

[00:34:27] that's it now.

[00:34:28] You know, there's also the you have to keep into consideration that

[00:34:32] you know some of these guys that we're talking about possibly even

[00:34:35] coaching as far as like a guy like Brenda Moore who yeah, that's

[00:34:39] the biggest pipe dream that a devil fan can have and it's never

[00:34:42] going to happen.

[00:34:43] But you know for the you know shits and giggles and reckless

[00:34:46] speculation like how some of these teams going into the playoffs

[00:34:49] do can also affect how the Devils what the Devils can do, you

[00:34:53] know, like okay, you see some of these guys that are going to

[00:34:56] do, you know, like okay, you see Soros.

[00:34:58] We knew that Tom Fitzgerald did talk to Barry Trotz during

[00:35:02] this season before the trade deadline.

[00:35:04] We also know that Barry Trots was asking for a Kings ransom.

[00:35:08] It's reported after about a week or so ago that Barry Trotts

[00:35:11] saying hey, we're still open in negotiations with you see

[00:35:15] Soros to New Jersey.

[00:35:16] Tom Fitzgerald says the same thing.

[00:35:18] Well, if your payment to the trade value to Nashville for

[00:35:23] Soros in February was too high, what the hell do you think

[00:35:28] it's going to be if Nashville goes and you know makes it to

[00:35:31] a Western Conference final or a cup final or wins the cup

[00:35:35] or consummites trophy.

[00:35:36] You see Soros forget it.

[00:35:37] It's gone.

[00:35:38] You're not getting them same thing with Omar.

[00:35:40] You know, Omar has a great playoff and maybe even outplays

[00:35:44] Swamen maybe Boston has a different look on things.

[00:35:48] You already knew you were probably going to pay a little

[00:35:50] bit more for Boston.

[00:35:51] What are you going to pay for Lena Solmark if he has a fantastic

[00:35:54] playoff, you know, devil fans.

[00:35:56] If you really want Rod Brindlemore than you want the Islanders

[00:35:59] to sweep them in the in the first round and then maybe you

[00:36:04] know because you're not going to pull him away from Carolina

[00:36:07] if they go on a run.

[00:36:08] So I think it really does come down to Lorraine Bursua or

[00:36:12] Jacob Markstrom and I do think the like it's Travis Green

[00:36:18] or Craig Berube in my opinion.

[00:36:20] Like I just don't know how many more guys there are that

[00:36:23] he's going to really that I can see actually coming here

[00:36:26] to coach or to be the goal.

[00:36:28] Does that make sense?

[00:36:29] Yeah, definitely.

[00:36:31] I couldn't agree more.

[00:36:33] And like I said, I don't envy Thomas Cheryl's job because

[00:36:37] if it goes south, it goes south.

[00:36:39] I think goalie wise we just need a guy that can stop the

[00:36:43] fucking puck every now and then.

[00:36:44] Like that was a huge problem.

[00:36:47] Like I had no confidence advantage.

[00:36:49] I stopped the puck.

[00:36:50] No, would you be like as comfortable with a middle of

[00:36:55] the road consistent goalie on this team or do you think

[00:36:59] we need like a top six seven guy?

[00:37:01] I'm comfortable with like a top 10 top 15 guy.

[00:37:05] So yes, middle of the road.

[00:37:07] I think that's fine.

[00:37:08] And in a rotation of like a Markstrom and Allen,

[00:37:10] I think that's good.

[00:37:11] I think in front of them is where our team needs a

[00:37:14] lot more work.

[00:37:15] Graves should be on the market if anybody heard

[00:37:18] Dubas talking about him.

[00:37:20] Threw him out of the bus.

[00:37:21] Tristan Jerry?

[00:37:23] Graves.

[00:37:24] He was throwing Graves under the bus for he said how

[00:37:27] good he was with Colorado, how good he was with

[00:37:30] the Devils and basically didn't play anything like

[00:37:32] that for us this year.

[00:37:33] That he's got to get stronger and tougher and

[00:37:36] get an edge back to his game and all this stuff.

[00:37:38] So I'll take them back.

[00:37:40] Thank you buddy.

[00:37:41] He didn't have an edge.

[00:37:42] Was that you?

[00:37:43] Did you post that?

[00:37:44] Never had an edge?

[00:37:45] It wasn't me.

[00:37:46] No, that's someone else.

[00:37:47] I was about to post the same thing.

[00:37:51] I was like, I'm sorry we took care of this.

[00:37:53] But like you know what you got with him.

[00:37:55] So it's like did they not watch any film on him?

[00:37:58] Like he was literally one of the worst guys at

[00:38:00] clearing the puck on the penalty kill.

[00:38:02] Couldn't get the puck out of his zone for

[00:38:04] anything like the guy needs to say this to Bobby.

[00:38:06] Bobby's got a tattoo of Ryan Graves in an

[00:38:10] unmentionable place.

[00:38:11] He has a sock.

[00:38:12] I'm going to just say that.

[00:38:13] Ryan Graves' sock.

[00:38:15] It's his dick.

[00:38:16] Duh.

[00:38:19] But he only got the R and the Y in.

[00:38:23] But no, I mean look, I did like, I mean I

[00:38:29] liked our D-Core last year.

[00:38:30] I thought our D-Core, you know I was never

[00:38:32] a big Severson fan but he did have a much

[00:38:34] better year last year and I thought he

[00:38:36] played very good in the playoffs.

[00:38:37] And you know just our D-Core having a

[00:38:39] fucked up system and as young as they were.

[00:38:42] And like Fitzgerald said, right?

[00:38:44] We're the sixth youngest team in the league

[00:38:46] until we trade for Jacob Markstrom because

[00:38:48] him and Alan get us to like the sixth oldest

[00:38:50] team in the league.

[00:38:51] I'm buying 70 years old.

[00:38:53] Oh it's more than that, right?

[00:38:55] Oh it is 70 years old.

[00:38:56] Right.

[00:38:57] And then okay so we can talk about that.

[00:38:59] I don't know if you want to talk about

[00:39:01] the D-Core at all but and what to do with that.

[00:39:03] Yeah, what's your thoughts on the D-Core?

[00:39:05] I think I don't have a problem with them

[00:39:08] being back.

[00:39:09] Singlethor Hamilton, Hughes Marino,

[00:39:11] Baldwin Emich because with Dougie in the lineup

[00:39:15] it just slots everybody down into the

[00:39:18] appropriate things.

[00:39:19] Like all the injuries cause so much

[00:39:22] chaos with pairings and chemistry and that

[00:39:24] goes a long way particularly with defense.

[00:39:26] Like if you look at Vegas last year,

[00:39:29] their D-Pairs had all been together for

[00:39:32] like three four years.

[00:39:33] Two of the guys even played in junior

[00:39:34] together.

[00:39:35] I think it was White Cloud and whoever he

[00:39:36] was playing with.

[00:39:37] And that is so important like and if you

[00:39:41] look at Luke's really good games,

[00:39:43] he was playing with like Hataka or DeSimon

[00:39:47] or even Marino.

[00:39:48] Luke and Marino were actually a very

[00:39:50] good pair towards the end of the year

[00:39:51] there.

[00:39:52] Limited sample.

[00:39:53] You threw Smith on his pairing with him

[00:39:55] and suddenly like he was at the bottom

[00:39:57] of every single one of those game score

[00:39:59] charts.

[00:40:00] And it's just like why don't the coaches

[00:40:02] see that tethering Luke Hughes to

[00:40:04] Brendan Smith is not fucking working?

[00:40:06] I don't get that.

[00:40:07] I'm also a big believer in lefty righty

[00:40:09] and kind of having an offensive guy

[00:40:11] and a defensive guy.

[00:40:12] So yeah, I think with Dougie back

[00:40:14] in the lineup and one of the things

[00:40:15] Dougie is sorry.

[00:40:16] Go ahead.

[00:40:17] No, no, no.

[00:40:18] One of the things Dougie is really

[00:40:20] good at everybody gives him shit

[00:40:21] because he's not the best defenseman.

[00:40:23] That's not his game.

[00:40:24] What he's really good at though is

[00:40:26] puck retrievals and zone exits.

[00:40:28] He gets the fucking fuck out of the

[00:40:30] zone and gets it out quickly.

[00:40:31] He's really good at that first pass.

[00:40:33] If you look at Seigenthal or I was

[00:40:35] like I told you before we started

[00:40:37] up a hockey podcast pervert and

[00:40:40] there's a PDO cast are talking about

[00:40:42] Seigenthaler and he fails at

[00:40:44] zone exits almost 40 percent of the

[00:40:46] time. Like that is fucking awful.

[00:40:48] Yeah, like that's like

[00:40:50] that's just really bad.

[00:40:51] You can see that with the eye test

[00:40:52] though. Like Seigenthaler is the one

[00:40:54] guy I do not want back on this team.

[00:40:56] He had a terrible year.

[00:40:57] I think there's still something in

[00:40:59] him and his contract is just not

[00:41:00] movable.

[00:41:01] But I think

[00:41:03] if he were gone, I wouldn't object to

[00:41:05] it at all.

[00:41:07] I don't know who would come in for

[00:41:10] Yeah, I'm not you know, I think he

[00:41:12] can go. I think I would even you

[00:41:14] know, you keep Smith.

[00:41:15] I guess you can move him to like a

[00:41:17] I didn't think he was bad as on the

[00:41:18] as a forward this year.

[00:41:19] I mean, I thought you know, you're

[00:41:20] going to have a utility player.

[00:41:21] But if I had the two I would keep

[00:41:23] I would keep Smith as just a backup

[00:41:25] utility player.

[00:41:26] Seventh, defenseman.

[00:41:27] I heard someone else say it today

[00:41:28] and I kind of

[00:41:29] but as with Seigenthaler

[00:41:31] the last time I was impressed with

[00:41:32] Seigenthaler was in the playoffs last

[00:41:33] year.

[00:41:34] And I think we you know, you

[00:41:35] remember he actually had a good

[00:41:36] playoff last year.

[00:41:37] But besides that penalty, yeah,

[00:41:39] that penalty that was got us

[00:41:40] but in that game even that game

[00:41:42] even he had you remember we talked

[00:41:43] about that like he had a good game

[00:41:45] even that game.

[00:41:46] Yeah, but he just had a big goal

[00:41:47] I think in that game.

[00:41:48] I think it was like one of the

[00:41:49] I think the tying goal I think was

[00:41:51] Seigenthaler.

[00:41:52] It was a big goal.

[00:41:53] Yeah, that was that penalty.

[00:41:55] It was Tatar's fault for giving him

[00:41:56] that muffin of a pass that he had

[00:41:58] no time with.

[00:41:59] That was that was the last time I

[00:42:00] was impressed with Seigenthaler

[00:42:01] was in the playoffs.

[00:42:04] And even toughness wise, I

[00:42:05] personally I said it last

[00:42:07] episode maybe the episode before

[00:42:08] that.

[00:42:09] I think there are several

[00:42:10] changes that need to be made on

[00:42:11] this team and I think you

[00:42:12] actually have to move some

[00:42:13] players out like as much as I

[00:42:14] like as a Devils fan.

[00:42:15] I have that fondness to like

[00:42:16] hold Sunnis guys.

[00:42:18] But I think you got to move

[00:42:19] them.

[00:42:20] Tim you mentioned Dawes and

[00:42:22] Schmidt.

[00:42:23] I would be glad if they were

[00:42:24] gone.

[00:42:25] Even I don't think they're the

[00:42:26] answers like I like I do like

[00:42:27] Dawes.

[00:42:28] And I think there's more upside

[00:42:29] with him than Schmidt.

[00:42:30] Now, I'm not really a Schmidt

[00:42:31] believer.

[00:42:32] I kind of felt this way last

[00:42:33] year and now I really feel

[00:42:35] that way.

[00:42:36] Like I said, Dawes, I think

[00:42:38] as a backup maybe.

[00:42:39] But I don't know.

[00:42:40] I mean, I wouldn't want to

[00:42:41] see it.

[00:42:42] I think you got to move.

[00:42:43] I got to bring two defensemen

[00:42:44] here.

[00:42:45] Two different.

[00:42:46] I mean, I'd say I like

[00:42:47] Dougie Hamilton too.

[00:42:48] And I know I was last

[00:42:49] episode.

[00:42:50] I was defensive wise.

[00:42:51] Yeah.

[00:42:52] I think he's you know, you

[00:42:53] got to bring two decent

[00:42:54] defensemen in there.

[00:42:55] We need obviously toughness.

[00:42:56] Even if they didn't have the

[00:42:57] year that they had.

[00:42:58] If we're just talking about

[00:42:59] taking a good team to the next

[00:43:01] step for Stanley Cup, for me,

[00:43:03] something big has to be done

[00:43:04] on the defense.

[00:43:05] I want like a stud

[00:43:07] defensive defenseman to go

[00:43:08] with all this other power

[00:43:09] that we have.

[00:43:10] I don't know who needs to

[00:43:11] move out to do that yet.

[00:43:12] We'll kind of see it as

[00:43:13] the summer goes on.

[00:43:14] But that would be to me.

[00:43:15] And this is like even if we

[00:43:16] went around or two and didn't

[00:43:18] quite make it to the Stanley

[00:43:19] Cup, I'd be like, this is an

[00:43:20] upgrade area.

[00:43:21] It might not be a pressing

[00:43:22] upgrade area, right?

[00:43:23] Because maybe you can bring

[00:43:24] these guys back at bad

[00:43:25] years, make some bad

[00:43:26] with their lines properly.

[00:43:27] I'm with you with Hamilton

[00:43:29] slotting everybody down.

[00:43:30] But just to get over the top,

[00:43:32] to me that'd be one of the

[00:43:33] moves that helps put them over

[00:43:34] the top.

[00:43:35] Yeah.

[00:43:36] I think a clear upgrade

[00:43:37] could be available for

[00:43:38] Seagintal or a ball.

[00:43:39] Like I wish someone would

[00:43:40] show ball mystery Alaska and

[00:43:42] be like, can you watch

[00:43:43] like the scene where he's

[00:43:44] interested in?

[00:43:45] I'm like, you're the big

[00:43:46] guy, dude.

[00:43:47] Like you're fucking six foot

[00:43:48] eight.

[00:43:49] Like, yeah, it's like if

[00:43:51] you watch his junior day from

[00:43:52] the auto 67, he's an

[00:43:54] absolute menace.

[00:43:55] And it's just like, where did

[00:43:56] this guy go?

[00:43:57] And I think that's kind of

[00:43:58] coaching.

[00:43:59] I think they teach this

[00:44:00] stuff like I don't know if

[00:44:01] you ever watched them coming

[00:44:02] to the like a four is

[00:44:03] coming into the zone and

[00:44:04] kind of raking around.

[00:44:05] They do this thing where

[00:44:06] the stick kind of like

[00:44:07] like just kind of getting

[00:44:08] in the puck lane, but

[00:44:09] they're not taking the

[00:44:10] body like they're not

[00:44:11] they're not eliminating the

[00:44:12] man and they're just kind

[00:44:13] of following the guy around

[00:44:14] where their stick hanging

[00:44:15] in.

[00:44:16] So they are one of the

[00:44:17] easiest teams to play

[00:44:18] against.

[00:44:19] And on him on ball, by

[00:44:20] the way, before we move on,

[00:44:22] because I did hear what he

[00:44:23] said and it just flies

[00:44:24] contrary to everything we

[00:44:25] just said.

[00:44:26] He was like one of the

[00:44:27] things I want to work on

[00:44:28] this season is like

[00:44:29] shooting.

[00:44:30] I'm going to work on

[00:44:31] shooting and shooting and

[00:44:32] shooting.

[00:44:33] I'm like, no, no, no, no,

[00:44:34] no.

[00:44:35] You're going to work on

[00:44:36] defense.

[00:44:37] Like apparently he

[00:44:38] doesn't want to stay in

[00:44:39] the NHL very long because

[00:44:40] a guy his size, you know,

[00:44:42] trust me, will he

[00:44:44] would be in this league

[00:44:45] for the next 12 years if

[00:44:46] he learned how to use

[00:44:48] his body and his size for

[00:44:50] that position.

[00:44:51] And I think instead of

[00:44:52] practicing shooting,

[00:44:53] watch Ken Danico film all

[00:44:55] summer.

[00:44:56] Just watch Danico and

[00:44:57] that's who you should

[00:44:58] try and become.

[00:44:59] You know, he could be

[00:45:00] the next coming at Char.

[00:45:01] And he still could get

[00:45:02] there.

[00:45:03] Char kind of developed a

[00:45:04] little bit later and

[00:45:05] started to develop later.

[00:45:06] Char got traded a

[00:45:07] couple of times.

[00:45:08] He only went.

[00:45:09] But balls of much

[00:45:11] better skater than Char

[00:45:12] was in the beginning.

[00:45:13] So that going for him.

[00:45:14] I think he's going to

[00:45:15] be a great player.

[00:45:16] I think he's going to

[00:45:17] be a great player.

[00:45:18] I think he's going to

[00:45:19] be a great player.

[00:45:20] I think he's going to

[00:45:21] be a really great

[00:45:22] player, especially

[00:45:23] because he has a

[00:45:24] great interior.

[00:45:25] He can make some

[00:45:26] changes.

[00:45:27] But he's going to

[00:45:28] outside.

[00:45:29] He just doesn't

[00:45:30] have a good

[00:45:31] formation for him.

[00:45:32] But.

[00:45:33] It's just.

[00:45:34] What do you think of

[00:45:35] Holtz?

[00:45:36] I'm trying on a

[00:45:37] good day and

[00:45:38] watching him.

[00:45:39] Like you motherfucker

[00:45:40] like if I was yours.

[00:45:41] Right.

[00:45:42] He's huge.

[00:45:43] What do you think of

[00:45:44] Holtz?

[00:45:45] Like we.

[00:45:46] I don't know.

[00:45:47] Holtz has

[00:45:48] potential offensively.

[00:45:49] I don't see it like

[00:45:50] a little bit of disproportionate

[00:45:55] punishments, I guess is for lack of a better word,

[00:45:58] for some of the players.

[00:45:59] And I feel like that was kind of talking about holds

[00:46:02] where, you know, taking the ice out of the way

[00:46:05] wasn't really being distributed evenly across the team

[00:46:07] but some players were getting penalized

[00:46:09] a little bit more than others.

[00:46:10] And I think that was kind of about holds.

[00:46:12] Like I would love to see holds get some run.

[00:46:15] I don't really see them making these egregious mistakes

[00:46:19] that seem to be getting benched.

[00:46:22] Like I've seen them make maybe a couple turnovers here and there

[00:46:24] but like, Jack Hughes throws the puck in the middle

[00:46:27] of the ozone off a rush and makes a turnover time.

[00:46:30] Nees is right back out there.

[00:46:31] So I don't know.

[00:46:32] I feel like they're trying to make it

[00:46:34] into something that's really not.

[00:46:36] I get the idea of like, if he goes, he goes.

[00:46:40] Like, you know.

[00:46:41] Unless this all goes back to the discipline thing

[00:46:46] where the, you know, maybe this goes

[00:46:48] maybe there's something behind the scenes

[00:46:50] because holds we were talking about this

[00:46:51] after Lindy got let go.

[00:46:54] It was still going on.

[00:46:55] You saw frustration in the front office with holds,

[00:46:57] you know, I just don't know.

[00:47:00] I mean, I think you can,

[00:47:00] and that's, there's some guys you can move here

[00:47:03] that still have value.

[00:47:04] I think that people are still undecided.

[00:47:05] And I think even with Sharon Govich

[00:47:07] like I do think Calvary was a very good thing for him

[00:47:09] but it was part of me that kind of says, okay

[00:47:13] wonder if we would, you know,

[00:47:14] gave him a, have a shitty year

[00:47:16] and then bring them back and see what happens, you know.

[00:47:18] And I think holds could be really good somewhere.

[00:47:21] I just don't know if it's going to be here.

[00:47:23] And it's also when you're under the microscope

[00:47:25] and you're getting like six minutes a night

[00:47:27] and everybody is watching your shifts.

[00:47:29] That puts a lot of pressure on that kid

[00:47:31] to not fuck up.

[00:47:32] Like when you're, you're not really like

[00:47:34] you're not just feeling the flow of the game.

[00:47:36] You're like, okay, I got to go over to this board

[00:47:38] and take this pass and win this board battle.

[00:47:40] You're not really just using your instincts

[00:47:42] and letting it flow.

[00:47:43] I think there's a lot of that in that as well.

[00:47:46] It's a complicated situation,

[00:47:47] but I wouldn't be surprised if he shipped off as a piece.

[00:47:51] Although I don't know what his value is.

[00:47:53] You know, like does he have value

[00:47:54] the way they shit all over him?

[00:47:56] Everyone from the top down in this organization,

[00:47:58] like you actually murdered his trade value.

[00:48:01] It makes no sense.

[00:48:02] Well, I think some GMs watching and saying,

[00:48:04] hey, this week we can turn this guy into that.

[00:48:06] Every head coach and every general manager

[00:48:08] thinks that, telling you're 100% right.

[00:48:10] They look at them and say,

[00:48:11] oh, look how mismanaged he was.

[00:48:13] If we had him here,

[00:48:15] we would get X and Z out of them, whatever.

[00:48:17] But you know, and maybe they will.

[00:48:19] I mean, Sharon Govich had a very good year,

[00:48:21] but you know, like Tafoli did what he came here to do.

[00:48:25] What we brought him here to do.

[00:48:26] None of the other teams, none of the other players did.

[00:48:28] One of the things I did hear in the exit interviews

[00:48:30] before we get to our playoff predictions.

[00:48:34] And I don't know who said it.

[00:48:36] And it was, it was either Bratt or Green

[00:48:40] said something along the lines of what you mentioned

[00:48:43] about taking a shot at Lindy Ruff.

[00:48:44] This seemed like a veiled shot as well.

[00:48:47] That there were guys, and I'm paraphrasing here,

[00:48:50] but the gist of it was something to the effect of

[00:48:54] there were guys here who,

[00:48:57] guys that were coming out to,

[00:49:00] something along the lines of they were coming out to play

[00:49:02] but did not know what their roles were.

[00:49:05] That they were not, however it was worded,

[00:49:08] but that was the gist of it.

[00:49:10] Some guys on this team, yeah,

[00:49:12] they were coming out here and working.

[00:49:13] They just didn't know what they were supposed

[00:49:15] to be working at.

[00:49:16] They didn't know what they were supposed to be doing.

[00:49:18] So I took that as a bit of a shot

[00:49:20] of an indictment a little bit on Lindy.

[00:49:23] So, you know, again, I'm fucking it up,

[00:49:26] but you can go back and listen.

[00:49:27] It was either Bratt or Green.

[00:49:28] I forget who said that, but I caught that too.

[00:49:31] It's the accountability thing

[00:49:32] and then the disproportionate penalization thing as well.

[00:49:36] That's the same thing.

[00:49:38] But also, you know, I've seen interviews where Holtz is like,

[00:49:41] I'm hanging out with Mercer and the Hughes brothers

[00:49:43] and then talking about reckless speculation.

[00:49:46] You know, I was here.

[00:49:47] When are you guys gonna make those t-shirts by the way?

[00:49:50] You made a comment.

[00:49:50] We're gonna get the reckless speculation shirts.

[00:49:53] Fitz made a comment actually about going out.

[00:49:55] It's not that they're not going out a lot.

[00:49:57] We're very active, I guess.

[00:50:01] I don't know if you meant partying or not,

[00:50:02] but I think there was a comment in there actually, Tim,

[00:50:04] that he said with going out,

[00:50:06] there's no shortage of after game activities

[00:50:09] or some shit like that.

[00:50:10] Yeah, and I'm sure, look, they're young.

[00:50:12] They got a lot of money.

[00:50:13] They're living in Jersey City in New York.

[00:50:16] I mean, these, of course they're going out and partying,

[00:50:18] but you do have to have,

[00:50:20] like who's that older veteran here

[00:50:22] to come in and just kind of lay the law down

[00:50:27] as far as what goes, what doesn't go.

[00:50:30] Like you knew, you fucked around in the locker room.

[00:50:32] Scott Stevens was gonna have something to say to you.

[00:50:35] And it maybe took a while to get Scott Stevens to speak up,

[00:50:38] but you know when he spoke,

[00:50:40] you did what he told you to do.

[00:50:42] We don't have that guy yet.

[00:50:44] And maybe Nico, he sure will turn into that,

[00:50:47] but they just have to grow up.

[00:50:48] That's a big part of it.

[00:50:49] Yeah, and I didn't get the vibe

[00:50:50] that they were playing Fortnite like Kyler Murray.

[00:50:53] Like I think these guys are,

[00:50:56] they're going in the cities and they need a must win,

[00:50:58] but they're going out to dinner

[00:51:00] having a couple bottles of wine.

[00:51:01] Well, it's so funny,

[00:51:03] because back in like the say 90s, 2000s,

[00:51:07] all those teams, they would come into Tampa even,

[00:51:09] they would all go to like,

[00:51:10] when you go out there with skate,

[00:51:12] we'll do the morning skate,

[00:51:13] then they will go out and have a few beers.

[00:51:14] Then go take a nap and play the game.

[00:51:16] And it was just a whole different,

[00:51:17] like it was no, like you said wine,

[00:51:19] like back then it was like Ken Danico

[00:51:21] and three others going out and doing it

[00:51:23] after the morning skate and having a few,

[00:51:25] it's totally different now.

[00:51:26] Yeah.

[00:51:27] That Danico Tidemi story where like.

[00:51:29] Yeah, now they're playing video games

[00:51:31] for hours everybody.

[00:51:34] All right.

[00:51:34] Nerves, nerds.

[00:51:37] How about we do some playoff predictions?

[00:51:39] Yeah.

[00:51:40] All right.

[00:51:41] We're gonna start in the West, okay?

[00:51:43] So what we're gonna do is they got the matchups.

[00:51:46] We're gonna go over who you think is gonna win,

[00:51:49] tell me and in how many games.

[00:51:51] And so we'll start with Winnipeg versus Colorado.

[00:51:56] Winnipeg went 51, 24 and six.

[00:51:59] They had 108 points.

[00:52:01] That was good for second in the central.

[00:52:03] Colorado, 49, 25 and seven for 105 points,

[00:52:08] three points behind Winnipeg.

[00:52:10] Third in the central.

[00:52:11] Their first two, three matchup.

[00:52:14] The Jets went 30 and one this year against the Abbs.

[00:52:18] The Jets are, let me see.

[00:52:21] The Jets are favored.

[00:52:22] They are plus 115.

[00:52:24] The Abbs are at a minus 138.

[00:52:26] That first series Winnipeg, Colorado.

[00:52:29] There are so many series that are so hard for me to pick.

[00:52:34] We'll go Bob, Tib, Tony, me.

[00:52:36] Bobby, where are you going with that?

[00:52:38] All right, well first I just wanna preface this

[00:52:40] by saying I'm actually very disappointed

[00:52:41] in my overall picks because I'm looking at them now

[00:52:44] and technically speaking,

[00:52:46] I don't have an upset based on the higher seed matchup

[00:52:51] like for all eight games, which is really shocking to me.

[00:52:55] The closest I maybe have to an upset to me is this game.

[00:52:59] I think that on the surface,

[00:53:00] most people would think Colorado.

[00:53:04] I like Colorado.

[00:53:05] I did not know Winnipeg was three oh

[00:53:07] and one against them this year,

[00:53:09] but this is the series I'm taking for Winnipeg

[00:53:12] to get their legs.

[00:53:13] A brutal series that gets them blowing

[00:53:15] through the playoffs.

[00:53:16] They're gonna beat Colorado in seven.

[00:53:19] Bob's got the Jets in seven.

[00:53:22] All right, Tim, what do you got?

[00:53:25] You got the Jets in seven too.

[00:53:28] Tell you what, I like Tim.

[00:53:30] Yeah, it's all goaltending.

[00:53:34] I'm gonna go with Colorado.

[00:53:36] I think the goaltending has been there.

[00:53:37] You got 38 wins with that guy.

[00:53:39] You got McCarr, McKinnon.

[00:53:41] I just picture McKinnon lighting a fire

[00:53:42] under that team's ass in the playoffs

[00:53:44] and I picture them winning in seven games.

[00:53:46] They got the odds in seven.

[00:53:48] I love watching McKinnon highlights by the way

[00:53:50] when he gets to galloping through the neutral zone

[00:53:53] and he just uses a...

[00:53:55] He actually gets on his teammates cases

[00:53:59] for eating bad on the road.

[00:54:00] I mean, the guy is fucking intense.

[00:54:02] We kind of need something like that.

[00:54:03] That's how you score 140 points in the NHL.

[00:54:06] Exactly.

[00:54:06] He's one of my favorite players to watch,

[00:54:09] but Dan also has the Jets taking.

[00:54:11] He didn't give me a number of games,

[00:54:13] so we'll get that from him later, but...

[00:54:15] I'm actually surprised by how many...

[00:54:19] Now Tim, you took the Jets in seven.

[00:54:20] Thought I was an Island.

[00:54:21] Jets in seven.

[00:54:23] Well, I did these earlier today.

[00:54:26] So just so you know, I'm not on anyone's bandwagon.

[00:54:29] We got four.

[00:54:29] I got the Jets in seven.

[00:54:31] I got Colorado in seven though.

[00:54:33] Yeah, we all got a seven game series.

[00:54:36] Dan's got Colorado in seven on the text he sent.

[00:54:40] I didn't get that text.

[00:54:40] First he sent just the teams

[00:54:42] and then you said can you give us the picks?

[00:54:44] And he's got CO7, so he doesn't have to have

[00:54:47] so many Colorado. I'm looking at the wrong thing.

[00:54:48] Okay, so we got two.

[00:54:50] So he's got Colorado in seven.

[00:54:51] All right.

[00:54:52] Everybody's going seven.

[00:54:53] All five of them.

[00:54:54] Yeah.

[00:54:55] That's crazy right there.

[00:54:56] That tells you it was a hard round to pick, right?

[00:54:59] Yeah.

[00:55:00] Bobby, I'm with you.

[00:55:00] Like I was been looking at these for a couple days

[00:55:03] and I think there are two matchups that are pretty easy

[00:55:06] but everyone else is a fucking crap sheet.

[00:55:08] Yeah.

[00:55:10] I mean, I really didn't find too many easy ones.

[00:55:14] So let me know which ones you thought were easy

[00:55:15] when we get to them.

[00:55:16] I'm hoping that Chris's little intro

[00:55:19] to each of these games too will change my mind

[00:55:23] for one or two of these.

[00:55:24] Okay.

[00:55:25] And if it does, I'll let you know,

[00:55:26] but I don't think it's gonna.

[00:55:27] Well, we got Edmonton went 49, 26 and six, 104 points.

[00:55:34] The Kings 43, 27 and 11 for 97 points.

[00:55:39] So there's a seven point swing there.

[00:55:41] Head to head, they played four games.

[00:55:42] Edmonton won three of them.

[00:55:45] The Oilers are, let me see, they are favored.

[00:55:49] They're minus 182 and the Kings are plus 150.

[00:55:53] Bobby, who you got in the Oilers and Kings,

[00:55:56] which I think is like the,

[00:55:58] just Sharpie it in every pre-season

[00:56:00] for round one Kings Oilers, right?

[00:56:02] This is like the third year in a row.

[00:56:04] Is there another one that I actually didn't like

[00:56:06] because I basically didn't write off the Kings earlier.

[00:56:09] They're just not on my mind as like a top playoff team.

[00:56:12] And then when I look at this matchup,

[00:56:14] like this is exactly the type of team

[00:56:16] that can bring Edmonton down.

[00:56:18] But I'm on the track for saying earlier in the year

[00:56:21] that I think Edmonton is gonna make little noise here.

[00:56:23] Also didn't know they were three and one against them.

[00:56:26] Edmonton comes out in seven.

[00:56:28] Edmonton in seven.

[00:56:30] What does Dan have?

[00:56:31] You can give us Dan's too.

[00:56:34] Dan has Edmonton in six.

[00:56:39] All right, Edmonton in six.

[00:56:42] Tim, what do you got?

[00:56:44] Yeah, Edmonton in five.

[00:56:46] I thought this was an easier pick.

[00:56:49] I just.

[00:56:49] Okay, so you're taking this as an easy one?

[00:56:51] You just think they're gonna roll them, huh?

[00:56:53] Yeah, I think McDave's gonna steamroll them.

[00:56:55] You know, their decors a lot better.

[00:56:58] At least they'll figure out their lines

[00:57:00] and they know what their lines are.

[00:57:01] Do positive.

[00:57:02] Can't tell if it's not gonna stand on his head

[00:57:03] and steal this series.

[00:57:05] Well, he probably will now that I picked him in five.

[00:57:07] But.

[00:57:09] Tony, what do you got for this one?

[00:57:11] I was gonna go in five, Tim,

[00:57:13] but I'm gonna go in six because I just.

[00:57:16] I think Edmonton's definitely gonna beat him.

[00:57:17] I just think LA is gonna throw it at him

[00:57:20] as much as they can.

[00:57:20] I'm just gonna have to say six on this one.

[00:57:22] I was at five too though.

[00:57:23] I was kinda thinking that.

[00:57:24] I just, with the goaltending in Los Angeles,

[00:57:26] I could picture them stealing a few, so.

[00:57:29] I mean, we all, everybody has Edmonton.

[00:57:32] We're gonna keep it that way.

[00:57:33] I'm taking the Oilers in six

[00:57:36] for all the reasons like you guys just mentioned.

[00:57:38] And like you said, Tim,

[00:57:40] LA doesn't really even know

[00:57:41] what their lines are right now.

[00:57:43] And I just think, hey, I'll come playoff time.

[00:57:47] Just Connor McDavid.

[00:57:48] That's it.

[00:57:49] It's all I gotta say, you know?

[00:57:50] Yeah, they're gonna win.

[00:57:51] It's gonna be six.

[00:57:52] LA will win a couple because Edmonton,

[00:57:55] just every series,

[00:57:56] they seem to throw a couple of stinkers

[00:57:58] in here and there.

[00:57:59] So I give them six.

[00:58:01] I wanted to beat Edgy in big one five.

[00:58:03] That was rad.

[00:58:04] I like it.

[00:58:04] I like the Edgy.

[00:58:05] I should have picked him in six or seven, but.

[00:58:08] So we got Dallas to BGK.

[00:58:11] So Dallas this year, 52, 21 and nine for 113 points.

[00:58:18] That's good for first in the central.

[00:58:20] Nobody's talking about the Dallas Stars.

[00:58:23] And they returning defending,

[00:58:26] reigning,

[00:58:27] defending Stanley Cup champion,

[00:58:31] standing against Golden Knights.

[00:58:32] Not so good every year compared to last year.

[00:58:34] Was that the Jesper Brand voice?

[00:58:36] No, that was much more froggy.

[00:58:38] That was my little, I guess, Vince McMahon voice.

[00:58:42] That's my Fortnite.

[00:58:43] Yeah, that's exciting.

[00:58:44] The Knights were 45, 28 and eight.

[00:58:46] I don't do a Jesper Brand voice.

[00:58:48] They were good for 98 points.

[00:58:49] Their wild card two head to head.

[00:58:53] Three games they played.

[00:58:54] Dallas won two, Vegas won one,

[00:58:57] but the two wins weren't overtime.

[00:58:59] So just, so, you know, three of their games

[00:59:03] or two of the three games went to OT.

[00:59:05] Dallas is favored.

[00:59:08] They're minus 130.

[00:59:09] The Knights are a plus 108.

[00:59:13] This series, Bobby, I know you're big on Dallas.

[00:59:16] I've been all year.

[00:59:16] That was my Stanley Cup pick last year.

[00:59:19] I think they've been excellent again this year.

[00:59:21] It's hard to take the defending Stanley Cup champions

[00:59:24] and write them out in the first round.

[00:59:27] But I did get the pleasure of seeing Dallas

[00:59:30] whoop up on Colorado live.

[00:59:33] And I was so impressed.

[00:59:34] Made my decision that much easier.

[00:59:36] I'm gonna go with Dallas and six,

[00:59:38] which is also exactly what Dan's picking.

[00:59:43] Tim, what do you got?

[00:59:45] Yeah, I think Bobby and I might have the identical brackets.

[00:59:49] Dallas and six.

[00:59:50] You got Dallas and six?

[00:59:51] Dallas and six.

[00:59:52] So I'm gonna just squeal.

[00:59:53] I just wheel over my dog's leg next to him.

[00:59:55] Oh, Dallas and six.

[00:59:57] Who just killed his dog?

[00:59:58] My dog's dog is like, it's like right behind me.

[01:00:02] Nice. Aww.

[01:00:03] I'm gonna change it up and go,

[01:00:05] I'm gonna go with Dallas and seven.

[01:00:07] Dallas is interesting

[01:00:08] because I don't even think they have a 30 goal scorer

[01:00:09] on that team this year.

[01:00:12] Yeah, I think that Jason Robertson

[01:00:14] is like the...

[01:00:16] I think Robertson had like 29 goals for them,

[01:00:18] which was like the most for Dallas.

[01:00:20] But I'm gonna go with Dallas, yeah.

[01:00:21] I'm gonna go seven though, just because Vegas...

[01:00:26] I think they'll turn it on to playoffs a little bit more.

[01:00:29] Vegas has played a lot of hockey these last couple years.

[01:00:33] And I think that matters.

[01:00:34] I do think that not having Mark Stone

[01:00:37] is gonna be an issue this year in the postseason.

[01:00:40] Look, Tony, you're the one who...

[01:00:42] Tony was coming back.

[01:00:44] What?

[01:00:45] Oh, is he coming back? I read an article

[01:00:46] that there's another one of those,

[01:00:47] he's skating again and everyone's like,

[01:00:49] of course he is, just in time for the playoffs again.

[01:00:51] Really?

[01:00:51] Started skating last week.

[01:00:53] So you gotta see him at his playoffs.

[01:00:54] Because they said when his injury happened,

[01:00:55] he was not gonna be back for the playoffs.

[01:00:56] Exactly, but of course he's ready for the...

[01:00:58] Well, he might be ready for the playoffs.

[01:00:59] What a bunch of scumbags.

[01:01:01] We'll see if he makes the lineup.

[01:01:03] But yeah.

[01:01:04] People aren't realizing this is just the way

[01:01:05] that Vegas gives their old players west?

[01:01:07] Oh no, they're realizing it.

[01:01:08] That's why everyone's waving the what the fuck flag.

[01:01:12] Well now I should change my pick from the stars to six

[01:01:15] to the stars and four, fuck them.

[01:01:17] And remember Chris, for Tampa,

[01:01:18] people were saying the same thing

[01:01:19] about playing too many games.

[01:01:21] Those years they were winning their cups,

[01:01:22] like oh, they've played too many games.

[01:01:23] Sometimes it doesn't matter.

[01:01:25] I get it, I do think it does matter.

[01:01:29] And sometimes, look, it's probably not gonna matter

[01:01:32] in this series, but when you're a team like Tampa who...

[01:01:36] Hey look, three years in a row,

[01:01:39] they made it to the finals,

[01:01:40] played more hockey than anyone else.

[01:01:41] The next year they bounce into the first round.

[01:01:44] So yeah, I do think eventually it does catch up to you.

[01:01:48] But I'll take two cups for that.

[01:01:49] Absolutely.

[01:01:50] And three final appearances, hell yeah.

[01:01:52] I think they turned him into a two-year player.

[01:01:55] Sorry, was that Tim?

[01:01:56] I'm sorry.

[01:01:57] Sorry, Chris, I apologize, I got in the middle of your...

[01:01:58] No, I was just saying the Stars in Six.

[01:01:59] I just think they have...

[01:02:00] I like Jake Ottinger.

[01:02:03] Aiden Hill was great last year.

[01:02:05] We'll see how he does this year.

[01:02:06] But I just think Dallas is primed.

[01:02:10] There are a lot of veterans on that team

[01:02:12] and they're gonna be a really tough out.

[01:02:15] So Dallas in six, which leads us...

[01:02:18] It's funny, on my notes,

[01:02:20] I put a little notes on here.

[01:02:21] I read literally my notes for Vegas was fuck them.

[01:02:25] Okay, I like it.

[01:02:27] So fuck them is right.

[01:02:28] And then we go to Vancouver, Nashville.

[01:02:31] This is another one that's...

[01:02:32] I think it's kind of tough.

[01:02:34] But Vancouver was 50, 22 and nine, 109 points.

[01:02:37] That was good for first in the Pacific.

[01:02:40] Nashville is the first wild card with 47, 30 and five.

[01:02:43] 99 points, fourth in the Central.

[01:02:46] They played three games this year.

[01:02:48] Excuse me, Vancouver won two.

[01:02:51] I don't have the odds for that one for some reason.

[01:02:53] But anyway, Bobby, what do you got in this series?

[01:02:56] This is tough for me because the way I wound up picking it,

[01:02:58] because I like Nashville a lot.

[01:03:00] I would have liked Nashville and probably any other matchup.

[01:03:03] But I'm giving this one just straight to Vancouver in five.

[01:03:09] Which is Dan's as well.

[01:03:13] This is so crazy.

[01:03:14] I didn't talk to him.

[01:03:16] I mean...

[01:03:17] No, no, no.

[01:03:18] I don't even like to talk to him.

[01:03:19] I'm looking at what I put, which you can probably guess.

[01:03:22] But Tim, what do you got?

[01:03:24] What do you got, Tim?

[01:03:24] Oh, sorry.

[01:03:25] That was just laughing.

[01:03:26] You guys share a brain now.

[01:03:28] Apparently.

[01:03:30] I got Vancouver in six.

[01:03:32] If Demko is going to be healthy, he's healthy.

[01:03:37] Yeah.

[01:03:38] What do we got, Tone?

[01:03:39] Go Vancouver in six also.

[01:03:43] I just want the...

[01:03:44] As much as I like Andrew Burnett,

[01:03:46] I just want this good fortune of his to end.

[01:03:49] All right.

[01:03:50] I'm just really tired of watching the...

[01:03:52] Could have been of moving on in the playoffs.

[01:03:55] I got Vancouver in five.

[01:03:57] I still...

[01:03:58] That little Hughes connection.

[01:04:01] That's...

[01:04:02] Demko is a very good goalie,

[01:04:04] and I think UC Soros is a very good goalie.

[01:04:07] But I'm going Vancouver.

[01:04:09] I'm going to take...

[01:04:10] This is for Soros, for us, right?

[01:04:11] I do like that Forsberg though over there in Nashville.

[01:04:13] He's great.

[01:04:14] Yeah.

[01:04:15] He's a good player.

[01:04:16] He's got a hell of a must-man field.

[01:04:17] If Quintin wins a ring,

[01:04:18] he's going to be flashing that shit in Jack and Luke's face.

[01:04:21] And it's going to make them so fired up.

[01:04:23] Yep.

[01:04:24] I would not mind seeing him in one ring.

[01:04:26] Yeah.

[01:04:27] That would be...

[01:04:28] Yeah, you know what?

[01:04:28] You're 100% right.

[01:04:29] I'm real curious how they...

[01:04:31] Because there is that competitive brother edge.

[01:04:33] Oh, you know Jack and Luke are currently always on his ass

[01:04:36] about being drafted before him.

[01:04:38] Like he was going in four,

[01:04:39] and then he was seven, right, Quinn?

[01:04:41] So you know that busting his balls about that.

[01:04:43] He's going to come up with Stanley Cup ring.

[01:04:45] He's going to have a ring in the Norris Trophy.

[01:04:47] Yeah.

[01:04:48] Well, last year he was sitting in the stands

[01:04:50] watching his brothers play.

[01:04:52] That's true.

[01:04:53] All right, we're moving on to the East.

[01:04:55] All right, we'll start with Carolina, New York Islanders.

[01:04:59] Carolina was 52, 23 and seven.

[01:05:02] They were 111 points second in the Metro.

[01:05:06] To the New York Islanders,

[01:05:07] 39, 27, 16, 94 points was good for third in the Metro.

[01:05:12] Devils should feel really good about themselves.

[01:05:16] Canes took the season series two, one and one.

[01:05:19] Canes are a big favorite at minus 350.

[01:05:21] Isles are plus 275.

[01:05:24] Bobby, what do you got for that series?

[01:05:25] Islanders don't deserve to be in the playoffs

[01:05:28] for what it's worth.

[01:05:28] I mean, the points were way too easy this year.

[01:05:30] This is coming from a Devils fan

[01:05:32] whose team didn't make the playoffs with even less points.

[01:05:35] But because of that,

[01:05:36] and just because I think Carolina is a juggernaut,

[01:05:38] yeah, Carolina in five.

[01:05:41] And...

[01:05:42] Damn.

[01:05:44] And...

[01:05:44] Tim, or Dan.

[01:05:45] What does Dan got?

[01:05:46] Dan is Carolina in six.

[01:05:49] Okay, Tim, what do you got?

[01:05:51] I think this is a button for Carolina.

[01:05:54] I have Carolina in five.

[01:05:59] Thought you were gonna go four.

[01:06:00] No, no, everybody's scared to go four.

[01:06:03] I will say, you know what?

[01:06:04] I will change that.

[01:06:05] Carolina sweeps.

[01:06:06] Ooh, that's what I got.

[01:06:08] All right.

[01:06:09] You're nice.

[01:06:09] That's what I got.

[01:06:10] What do you got, John?

[01:06:12] This is one of the easy matches.

[01:06:13] I just do not see how...

[01:06:15] I agree.

[01:06:16] You're gonna win a game.

[01:06:17] I'm with you.

[01:06:18] I didn't even know who you were.

[01:06:18] Carolina in six, I'm gonna disappoint you all

[01:06:20] and say I definitely think Carolina

[01:06:22] is gonna definitely beat them.

[01:06:25] It's funny, the Devils had such a rough season

[01:06:27] that I actually didn't even pay too much attention

[01:06:28] to Carolina this year

[01:06:29] because we were just trying to save our ass every week

[01:06:32] to stay lower than that.

[01:06:33] So I mean, like you said, 52 wins.

[01:06:37] Islanders, I just, you know, it's a lose team.

[01:06:39] I think they'll squeak out one or two, steal it.

[01:06:42] I have to mention,

[01:06:43] so I always like to mention former Devils, man.

[01:06:45] Paul Mary, I was glad he scored 30 goals this year.

[01:06:47] You know, I mean...

[01:06:48] I hate Kyle Paul Mary.

[01:06:50] Oh, I like Paul Mary, man.

[01:06:51] I like him with facial hair.

[01:06:53] Yeah, it's weird, isn't it?

[01:06:54] I like Paul Mary a lot, man.

[01:06:56] But obviously Carolina's a lot better.

[01:07:00] But I just picture the Islanders, you know,

[01:07:01] in the playoffs, I think you steal a game or two

[01:07:04] usually, it just so happens.

[01:07:05] Look, the Islanders play a really annoying,

[01:07:08] frustrating system, especially over a seven game series.

[01:07:12] I do think that they would have maybe a little bit more,

[01:07:16] a little better fortune playing any of the other seven teams,

[01:07:20] six teams rather, other than Carolina.

[01:07:22] But if there's one team that can wait you out

[01:07:25] and just wait for it.

[01:07:27] You think you play a really good system?

[01:07:29] Well, we play it just a little bit better.

[01:07:31] I'm gonna go Carolina and four,

[01:07:33] there is no way that they're gonna come in.

[01:07:36] Carolina is gonna, they're not gonna look past this series.

[01:07:38] They're gonna take it very serious.

[01:07:40] And I think it's just gonna be business as usual

[01:07:43] and they're gonna go in and take care of it.

[01:07:45] So that's why I got the games.

[01:07:47] Who's Islanders starting in goal?

[01:07:50] Like, I mean, Siroken should have been.

[01:07:52] Siroken has been playing great.

[01:07:53] Yeah.

[01:07:53] And Verlaumoff is playing good.

[01:07:56] That's a good question.

[01:07:57] I have something to say about that.

[01:07:59] You gotta go Siroken,

[01:08:00] but Verlaumoff's been objectively better than them.

[01:08:02] Yeah. Yes.

[01:08:04] I do wanna ask you guys something about goalies,

[01:08:06] but I'm gonna wait till we get to the,

[01:08:08] one of the other series to do it.

[01:08:10] So we all have the games winning.

[01:08:11] I think so far we all have pretty much

[01:08:13] picked the same teams, right?

[01:08:15] What do we have any different?

[01:08:16] Me and Dan have Colorado.

[01:08:17] Two different from Colorado.

[01:08:18] On the Colorado one.

[01:08:19] And we all have Edmonton, we all have Dallas,

[01:08:21] we all have Vancouver.

[01:08:22] This might be a brilliant playoff for the Puckers show.

[01:08:24] Well, let's see it.

[01:08:26] Boston versus Toronto.

[01:08:28] Another regurgitated two, three series.

[01:08:33] Boston this year, good season,

[01:08:35] but nowhere near what they did last year.

[01:08:37] 47, 20 and 15 for 109 points.

[01:08:40] That was good for second in the Atlantic.

[01:08:42] Toronto was 46, 26 and 10.

[01:08:45] 102 points or seven point swing.

[01:08:48] They were third in the Atlantic.

[01:08:50] Boston swept the season series.

[01:08:52] Two of the wins were in overtime,

[01:08:53] but they swept the season series.

[01:08:55] Boston is favored minus 120.

[01:08:57] Toronto's plus 100.

[01:08:59] Bobby, we'll start with you.

[01:09:01] This is the one I was hoping

[01:09:02] you were maybe gonna sway me to do something different.

[01:09:05] Last year I was all about Toronto

[01:09:06] finally getting through a round, and they did.

[01:09:09] This year, I'm just not impressed with them.

[01:09:11] They're all offense, they just don't strike me

[01:09:13] as a team that's gonna go far.

[01:09:15] And Boston's tough, so I was hoping

[01:09:18] you were gonna give me a stat

[01:09:19] that made me flip this to Toronto,

[01:09:21] but I'm gonna stick with Boston,

[01:09:22] but I'll make it in seven.

[01:09:24] Okay.

[01:09:26] Dan is Toronto in seven.

[01:09:32] Ew.

[01:09:33] Tim's chair farted.

[01:09:34] That was my chair.

[01:09:36] Sure it was, Tim.

[01:09:37] It's okay if you dis.

[01:09:38] Sure it was.

[01:09:39] Nobody's listening.

[01:09:41] You're already here.

[01:09:43] I could edit that and make it a lot louder

[01:09:45] and no one would know about it.

[01:09:47] Oh now you're gonna edit.

[01:09:51] I take all your racist shit out, Bobby.

[01:09:53] That's good.

[01:09:54] We have to censor Bobby, I say.

[01:09:56] Bobby's been, yeah, we have to censor Bobby

[01:09:58] every episode after.

[01:10:00] The Saturday night shows.

[01:10:01] I saw the jam cuts when I was listening to you guys.

[01:10:04] Yeah, we've had a few moments.

[01:10:05] What'd you say?

[01:10:06] Like, no, they just cut Bobby off

[01:10:07] in the middle of what he was saying.

[01:10:08] That's weird.

[01:10:10] Sometimes Bobby doesn't take, yeah.

[01:10:11] What was he saying?

[01:10:12] He was just about to talk about, nevermind.

[01:10:14] I don't know.

[01:10:15] Sounded like it could have been good.

[01:10:17] It wasn't good, trust me.

[01:10:18] It was horrible.

[01:10:19] No rhyming, no rhyming, Bobby.

[01:10:20] They throw me off my game all the time, Tim.

[01:10:22] It pisses me off.

[01:10:23] It is fun to do.

[01:10:25] Don't make it so easy.

[01:10:26] I gotta stop looking at you.

[01:10:28] Just go like this.

[01:10:30] Boston, Toronto.

[01:10:32] I know Toronto in six.

[01:10:34] Oh shit.

[01:10:35] And I think they got over the hump last year.

[01:10:37] I don't like Boston's forward depth.

[01:10:39] They're passionate and that's it, you know?

[01:10:43] All right.

[01:10:43] You know, similar to Vegas, fuck Bob Sockup.

[01:10:46] Like, you kidding?

[01:10:47] Like, he's a 1C.

[01:10:48] Like, get out of here.

[01:10:49] If they win and Tim is 1C

[01:10:52] with Paul Mary, Sharon Govich,

[01:10:53] and Coleman all scoring 30 goals,

[01:10:55] I'm gonna go walk into the woods and never come.

[01:10:57] Sharon Govich isn't gonna score any goals for them.

[01:11:00] No, he's not.

[01:11:00] He's gonna be making Lego sandcastles and shit like that.

[01:11:04] Lego sandcastles?

[01:11:06] Did I really say that?

[01:11:07] What is that?

[01:11:09] What's happening right now?

[01:11:10] I don't know.

[01:11:11] Tony's gonna pick his Boston, Toronto series.

[01:11:14] We're gonna move on.

[01:11:15] I'm gonna go Boston and seven.

[01:11:19] Yeah, I mean, as much as I would like to see

[01:11:20] the future devil, hopefully, Bertuzzi win

[01:11:23] this series with Toronto.

[01:11:25] I'm gonna have to take Boston just because

[01:11:27] I wanted to say Toronto, but it just seems

[01:11:29] to be some bad luck in the playoffs over there.

[01:11:32] Yeah, I know they got over the hump last year,

[01:11:34] but I think that hump rears its ugly,

[01:11:36] humpy head again.

[01:11:37] It's what I'm feeling.

[01:11:38] They lose in the first round to Boston in six.

[01:11:41] I just, I think that overall talent wise,

[01:11:46] Toronto is a better team.

[01:11:47] I also think Toronto suffers from some of the same

[01:11:50] things that the devil suffered from this year.

[01:11:53] And I just think that they are not, again,

[01:11:55] Boston is that workman-like business team.

[01:11:58] They're not gonna take anything for granted.

[01:12:00] There's no bullshit with them.

[01:12:02] So I think it's gonna be Boston in six.

[01:12:05] Toronto's not a playoff team.

[01:12:06] They don't screen playoff team to you

[01:12:08] going into a series.

[01:12:08] No, I just think they're a team that they

[01:12:12] take them out and plug them in any other team in.

[01:12:15] And also, fuck Toronto.

[01:12:17] I can't stand them.

[01:12:19] I like that that's adjusted to the team.

[01:12:22] I like that that's a justification for a lot of these.

[01:12:24] Fuck those guys.

[01:12:25] We can just do that.

[01:12:26] Yeah, exactly.

[01:12:27] Well wait till we get to the last series.

[01:12:29] I'm glad you brought in Pertuzzi.

[01:12:30] We really, the devils really need a prick like him.

[01:12:33] They do.

[01:12:35] I'm still-

[01:12:36] We've been saying that for two years.

[01:12:37] Two seasons.

[01:12:38] But that's not gonna happen.

[01:12:38] I love that brainer.

[01:12:39] Yeah, we just need a prick like Claude Demieux,

[01:12:42] you know, a guy like that just to-

[01:12:44] Oh, Brady Kachuk would change this.

[01:12:46] I mean, he would change the whole team.

[01:12:48] I mean, you know, I got to say that,

[01:12:50] that's a whole, to me that of anybody out there

[01:12:53] of make a change, I think he would make a huge change

[01:12:56] on this team because in the locker room, you know,

[01:12:58] outside the locker room and definitely on the ice.

[01:13:01] But would you be happy with Kachuk light

[01:13:06] and Tyler Pertuzzi?

[01:13:09] Yeah, we were all bummed out

[01:13:11] when Pertuzzi didn't come here last year.

[01:13:12] We all kind of thought that maybe they would pull it

[01:13:14] off but no, no.

[01:13:16] So yeah, I would take Pertuzzi.

[01:13:17] I mean, he's a set 21 goals this year, right?

[01:13:20] He doesn't use tape on a stick.

[01:13:21] He doesn't have a knob on a stick.

[01:13:23] Like that's real unhinged lunatic behavior.

[01:13:26] We need to understand that.

[01:13:28] I liked Pertuzzi.

[01:13:32] But yeah, I'm still going with Boston.

[01:13:33] So maybe Fitzgerald will be able to talk to him

[01:13:35] in about two weeks and see if he's interested.

[01:13:38] I know that, you know, July is when it happens

[01:13:40] but Panthers lightning, the battle of America's Wang.

[01:13:47] It'll be a hell of a series though.

[01:13:49] It's gonna be the nastiest series

[01:13:50] for the first round, I think.

[01:13:51] It's gonna be a good one.

[01:13:52] And it's gonna be Panthers 52, 24 and six,

[01:13:56] 110 points first in the Atlantic lightning 45, 29

[01:14:00] and 898 points the first wild card fourth

[01:14:03] in the Atlantic Florida won the season series two to one

[01:14:07] Florida is minus 176 Tampa Bay's plus 146.

[01:14:12] The battle of Florida, Bobby.

[01:14:14] So I have flipped this one so many times.

[01:14:17] Initially it's just boom, it's Florida.

[01:14:19] Not a problem then.

[01:14:21] It's like, this is one of those series

[01:14:22] where Tampa can kind of upset that upstart,

[01:14:25] you know, Panther team, one more kick of the can

[01:14:27] for Tampa but in my heart of hearts

[01:14:29] I just cannot go against the Panther team

[01:14:33] and what I see from them.

[01:14:34] So I have to take them.

[01:14:36] I'll make it look good and give it to them in seven.

[01:14:38] We're gonna see a good series.

[01:14:40] What's Dan got?

[01:14:42] Dan has the Florida in seven.

[01:14:45] Okay.

[01:14:46] But they're both in Florida.

[01:14:48] Freaking would not pay attention.

[01:14:50] One Tampa though.

[01:14:51] What do you got Tim?

[01:14:53] I got Florida in seven.

[01:14:56] I don't know about Bobby.

[01:14:57] Florida is a bunch of bullies.

[01:14:59] You know, Tampa is a little bit more perimeter.

[01:15:01] Vasilevski had a terrible year for Vasilevski.

[01:15:04] He was coming on at the end.

[01:15:06] He was coming on, yeah.

[01:15:08] He led in some softies but I wouldn't bet against him

[01:15:11] in the playoffs but you know, I just did.

[01:15:15] But I don't know.

[01:15:16] I think Tampa's little run is over.

[01:15:18] Stan Kroos will be at the door this fall.

[01:15:21] Okay.

[01:15:22] What do you got, Tony?

[01:15:24] We go with Florida in seven also.

[01:15:25] It's hard for me because I do believe

[01:15:29] that Tampa does have a chance to win the series

[01:15:31] just to say I almost,

[01:15:32] I feel like Florida has a little bit of an edge.

[01:15:34] I just can't count.

[01:15:35] I cooch her off to me at 140 points.

[01:15:37] This guy's been, and we talked about

[01:15:39] Braden Point recently too.

[01:15:40] Another guy who would never gets mentioned enough.

[01:15:42] A guy, another guy who would be awesome in New Jersey.

[01:15:45] I love him.

[01:15:46] Yeah, Braden Point.

[01:15:47] And you know Vasilevski?

[01:15:49] You know, see Tim, I lived in Tampa for a bunch of years

[01:15:51] so I just played a lot of games there.

[01:15:53] You can't, I can't not count.

[01:15:56] Like even in playoffs, the guy is a monster.

[01:15:58] You know, he's just a great goaltender.

[01:16:00] He's one of the, to me,

[01:16:00] he's the second best in the league.

[01:16:02] Well, you're just taking your time defending your pick.

[01:16:06] But I have to go to Harvard.

[01:16:07] This one was really hard.

[01:16:08] I'm gonna go with Florida just because of the Kachuk factor.

[01:16:11] That's all, that's the major, you know,

[01:16:13] and obviously Reinhardt's what,

[01:16:14] that guy's been killing it this year.

[01:16:16] And Florida's just, I think they're a little nastier

[01:16:18] actually, I mean.

[01:16:20] Florida is an amazing team.

[01:16:22] They're a pain in the ass team.

[01:16:23] We got-

[01:16:24] I like the coach.

[01:16:25] Four of you guys.

[01:16:26] I love Maurice.

[01:16:27] Yeah, I like them too, but I also like John Cooper a lot.

[01:16:30] And you guys all took Florida in seven.

[01:16:33] Um, the run for Tampa is not over.

[01:16:38] The Lightning win this thing in six

[01:16:41] and Vasileski proves that he's the best fucking goalie

[01:16:45] in the world.

[01:16:46] That's where I'm going.

[01:16:47] I was with you buddy.

[01:16:48] And then I just, I couldn't go against the Panthers.

[01:16:50] I just really couldn't.

[01:16:51] How many penalty minutes are gonna be in this series?

[01:16:53] Oh my God.

[01:16:54] That's gonna be nuts.

[01:16:56] And I even got them in six.

[01:16:57] If it gets to seven,

[01:16:59] oh, that seventh game is gonna be so much fun.

[01:17:02] Might be the best series of all of them, I think.

[01:17:03] This is the most important one.

[01:17:05] Dallas Vegas one is gonna be really good,

[01:17:07] but I think this is the most appointment.

[01:17:09] Appointment viewing of all of them.

[01:17:10] When's his first game?

[01:17:12] Sunday, right?

[01:17:12] Is it Sunday?

[01:17:14] I believe it's Sunday.

[01:17:15] Well, tape it.

[01:17:16] I'll watch it when I get home from work.

[01:17:18] Which leads us to the final series.

[01:17:21] The New York Rangers versus the Washington Capitals.

[01:17:25] The President's trophy winning New York Rangers.

[01:17:29] I wonder how Bizzin' It feels about

[01:17:31] Rangers are frauds and so are their fans

[01:17:33] and this and that.

[01:17:34] Well, they just won the President's trophy

[01:17:36] with 55, 23, four, 114 points.

[01:17:39] Capitals are 40, 31, and 11.

[01:17:42] 91 points.

[01:17:44] Wildcard two.

[01:17:45] That should make devil fans feel even better.

[01:17:49] They split the season series.

[01:17:51] They're two and two.

[01:17:53] The Rangers are favored.

[01:17:54] They're minus 375.

[01:17:56] The Caps are getting plus 290.

[01:17:58] I'm sure these lines already moved.

[01:18:01] So don't hold me to any of them.

[01:18:04] The final series of our playoff prediction, Bobby.

[01:18:06] What do you got?

[01:18:08] Love to say Washington's gonna come in here

[01:18:11] with the momentum to make that awfully hard

[01:18:14] to get 91 point second wildcard playoff spot

[01:18:18] and upset the Rangers.

[01:18:19] But I gotta give the Rangers their due.

[01:18:21] There just should be no way they lose this series.

[01:18:25] Rangers and six.

[01:18:27] Okay, Tim or Dan.

[01:18:30] Dan is Rangers and six.

[01:18:34] Tim.

[01:18:35] I have the Washington Capitals in six.

[01:18:39] Do tell, why?

[01:18:42] What do you smoke?

[01:18:42] Is this just a fuck Ranger pick?

[01:18:45] Which is acceptable by the way.

[01:18:47] We're fine with that.

[01:18:48] You know like the pie chart,

[01:18:50] the blog that you wrote there, the pie chart,

[01:18:53] I'd say maybe 70% of this fuck the Rangers.

[01:18:55] Right.

[01:18:55] But.

[01:18:56] I like the callback.

[01:18:57] Since the, oh yeah,

[01:18:59] I appreciate it.

[01:19:00] Thank you.

[01:19:02] From the Austin break,

[01:19:04] the Capitals have been one of the best teams to leave.

[01:19:06] That goal differential that everybody keeps talking about

[01:19:08] was largely from the beginning of the season.

[01:19:10] When they lost early in the season,

[01:19:13] they got the doors blown off.

[01:19:14] But they win two one games.

[01:19:16] And they won a lot of them coming down the stretch.

[01:19:18] Charlie Lindgren has been fucking unbelievable.

[01:19:21] So 96 was the last 97 shots.

[01:19:23] I did a lot of research on this series.

[01:19:25] So buckle up.

[01:19:29] I just, I think the Rangers are soft.

[01:19:31] Like they're bad at five on five.

[01:19:33] The only thing that could derail my pick

[01:19:36] is if the Capitals take a lot of bad penalties.

[01:19:38] Cause when only killing stops

[01:19:40] and the Rangers fireplace elite.

[01:19:42] But if they stay out of the box,

[01:19:43] I think the Capitals can pull this off.

[01:19:45] And also I saw that picture of Oveskin the other day

[01:19:48] where he's getting interviewed.

[01:19:48] He has a beanie on his like sweaters,

[01:19:50] like down to here and he has like a gold chain.

[01:19:53] He's just a man.

[01:19:54] He's just a menace that guy.

[01:19:56] I have a soft spot for Obi

[01:19:58] because the area that I live in now,

[01:20:00] like guys, I just fucking love that cap.

[01:20:01] But I didn't think it'd do it.

[01:20:03] You know, they, they've won the cup before.

[01:20:04] I just think the Rangers have,

[01:20:05] the Rangers are missing something.

[01:20:07] Even though they won so much,

[01:20:08] I just don't feel like they have it.

[01:20:10] And Shasturkin's back, which is kind of annoying.

[01:20:14] I was really hoping, you know,

[01:20:15] his collapse would be full season.

[01:20:17] But I see the caps pulling us off.

[01:20:20] Okay.

[01:20:22] What do you got, Tom?

[01:20:24] Fortunately, I'm gonna go with the Rangers in six.

[01:20:27] I think Shasturkin is probably the best,

[01:20:29] probably the best goal in hockey, in my opinion.

[01:20:32] And I think you got backup now.

[01:20:34] You got Quick.

[01:20:34] Sometimes Shasturkin,

[01:20:35] you got a guy who just pulled a rabbit

[01:20:37] out of his ass this year.

[01:20:38] I mean, you know, I mean, Quick has been great

[01:20:41] as much as I hate them.

[01:20:42] I just don't think the Washington has

[01:20:44] what it takes to beat them.

[01:20:45] I think the fact that Washington's in the playoffs

[01:20:48] is kind of disgusting because, you know,

[01:20:50] we all saw the bottom of those,

[01:20:51] that division this year flip flopping.

[01:20:53] It's just a shame.

[01:20:55] So I'm gonna have to go with the rags in six,

[01:20:57] unfortunately.

[01:20:58] And I hope I'm wrong.

[01:20:59] This one.

[01:21:00] This is the lingering cup, huh?

[01:21:01] This is what they're...

[01:21:02] We all hope we're wrong.

[01:21:04] I mean, look.

[01:21:05] Chris has taken Washington, hasn't he?

[01:21:07] I am taking Washington.

[01:21:08] Nice.

[01:21:09] And it's not just because of a fuck you Rangers.

[01:21:14] Like Tim.

[01:21:15] Which is 70% acceptable, right Tim?

[01:21:16] Well, it's actually, it might be 71.

[01:21:20] But regardless of that, I believe there's,

[01:21:24] now what I'm about to say is a little bit counterproductive

[01:21:27] because I did not take the first seed in the West

[01:21:31] to lose their playoff series against the second wild card.

[01:21:34] But I am, there's something to be said for a team

[01:21:37] like the Rangers who have basically played,

[01:21:40] they played very good hockey all year long.

[01:21:43] They were never out of first place

[01:21:45] from like the third week of the season.

[01:21:48] They had Carolina pressing them very, very,

[01:21:52] a couple of points, but then they just took it off.

[01:21:54] There's something to be said for that team

[01:21:57] that has been playing playoff hockey

[01:22:00] for the last five, six weeks.

[01:22:02] That every point was important to them.

[01:22:05] And Washington plays the most annoying, boring,

[01:22:11] really hard to watch hockey that I've seen ever.

[01:22:16] And the Rangers are the complete opposite.

[01:22:18] And I'm sorry, in the playoff series,

[01:22:21] in a seven game series, the way Washington plays

[01:22:25] will frustrate this shit out of the Rangers enough

[01:22:28] that they will lose in game seven.

[01:22:31] I'm gonna take the Capitals.

[01:22:33] Look, I don't like, I'm not like Tim.

[01:22:35] I do not like Ovechkin.

[01:22:37] I am no way, shape or form a Washington Capital fan.

[01:22:40] And I do hate the Rangers.

[01:22:42] But I just think if the Rangers are gonna go on a run,

[01:22:47] I think it's gonna be on the back of Jonathan Quick,

[01:22:50] not Igor Shusterkin.

[01:22:52] I just think, look, Jonathan Quick knows what he's doing

[01:22:56] come playoff time.

[01:22:58] And I don't, look, I love Shusterkin, I think,

[01:23:01] but he's gotta win it for me to put him up in that top.

[01:23:03] He's gotta play for it at least

[01:23:05] before I can put him in the top, top echelon.

[01:23:08] He's a fantastic goalie.

[01:23:09] And I'm not saying Lindgren is.

[01:23:10] I think Washington gets bounced in the second round

[01:23:13] to Boston is what I believe.

[01:23:15] But I think this series,

[01:23:18] I just think they're gonna frustrate the shit

[01:23:20] out of the Rangers.

[01:23:21] And I think it's gonna fucking really get under their skin,

[01:23:24] which we've seen before.

[01:23:25] The Devils did it last year.

[01:23:27] When they start getting a little bit frustrated,

[01:23:29] they start playing a little bit on tilt.

[01:23:31] I think that has a possibility happening.

[01:23:33] So my only issue with your assessment there

[01:23:36] is I don't see the Capitals as being that team

[01:23:40] that fought for every last point

[01:23:42] to squeak into the playoffs.

[01:23:44] I see them as a team that was a benefactor

[01:23:46] of a very easy into the playoffs

[01:23:48] that some other better teams should have gotten into.

[01:23:51] I don't think they're on this amazing run

[01:23:54] like the Panthers last year.

[01:23:54] No, no, I don't.

[01:23:55] I don't think they're on an amazing run.

[01:23:57] I'm saying- Right, you think

[01:23:58] they're gonna be dying after this second.

[01:23:59] I think they are done,

[01:24:01] but I think that their style of playing,

[01:24:03] if I'm the Rangers,

[01:24:04] I think that might've been out of all those teams

[01:24:06] that were vying for that second wild card,

[01:24:08] I think this might've been the series

[01:24:10] that you didn't want the most.

[01:24:11] You've actually been preaching that

[01:24:12] for about two months now too.

[01:24:14] I think that the Rangers beat the Red Wings.

[01:24:16] I think the Rangers would've beaten us.

[01:24:18] The Rangers would've beaten,

[01:24:20] who else was up for that last wild card spot?

[01:24:23] The Ironmen.

[01:24:24] The Flyers.

[01:24:24] The Flyers, I think the Rangers would've beaten them all,

[01:24:27] but I just think Washington,

[01:24:28] they can fucking low you to sleep

[01:24:31] is how boring they are.

[01:24:33] You know what's crazy about Washington is

[01:24:34] that you know what the highest points were for Washington

[01:24:37] having a player on that team for the season?

[01:24:39] Probably what, Thomas?

[01:24:41] 67.

[01:24:43] The highest points a player had with Strom, yeah.

[01:24:46] It's pretty crazy, you know?

[01:24:47] Ovechkin was 65.

[01:24:49] Ovechkin had a weird year this year though.

[01:24:51] Would any of you guys be shocked

[01:24:52] if Ovechkin just becomes old Ovechkin in his playoffs?

[01:24:55] Like he hasn't been there in two years.

[01:24:57] I mean, this dude is gonna be ready for the playoffs.

[01:25:01] I wouldn't be surprised.

[01:25:02] I just hope that Washington's good enough, yeah.

[01:25:04] I just, but I think-

[01:25:06] There probably is a lot of bias in my pick,

[01:25:09] but still I think there's a chance.

[01:25:13] There's definitely a lot of bias in your pick

[01:25:14] because I knew before we put these picks in

[01:25:15] that you were absolutely taking the Capitals.

[01:25:18] I just knew it, and that's fine, it's cool.

[01:25:20] I wish I had that kind of balls.

[01:25:21] I just in my heart of hearts,

[01:25:23] I'm like I think the Rangers,

[01:25:24] they have to get through this rounder.

[01:25:26] They are the worst president's team ever.

[01:25:29] Chris, I kinda knew you were gonna take the Capts too.

[01:25:32] It's kinda like devil you know with Dan.

[01:25:34] You kinda know he's not gonna be ready.

[01:25:35] I kinda knew you were gonna go with the Capitals.

[01:25:38] There's certain things you could bet on

[01:25:39] on this show that is pretty obvious.

[01:25:42] I hope I'm right.

[01:25:43] I hope you're right too.

[01:25:44] Hey, we all hope you're right.

[01:25:45] That's the nice thing about it.

[01:25:47] You and Tim have a party.

[01:25:50] I hope they win just for everything

[01:25:53] that comes along with that,

[01:25:55] but they're gonna get fucking dummied

[01:25:56] by Caroline in the second round.

[01:25:58] Oh no doubt.

[01:25:58] And I think Caroline after the Islanders

[01:26:03] and then if the Capts get in,

[01:26:04] they have a pretty easy path.

[01:26:08] So maybe Florida?

[01:26:09] Nothing's easy until Florida.

[01:26:12] Yeah, Florida versus Tampa or the Panthers

[01:26:15] and that's gonna be the Eastern Conference Final I think.

[01:26:19] It won't be watched on TV,

[01:26:20] but it will be good hockey.

[01:26:22] I can see the Rangers making it to a Cup final.

[01:26:26] I could totally, their team is really good.

[01:26:29] I just as certain, like you said Tim,

[01:26:31] five on five there's things about it

[01:26:34] that team, there's something about them I don't trust

[01:26:37] in the playoffs is what I'm saying.

[01:26:39] It's like, they might prove me wrong.

[01:26:42] Peter Lavillette is a very good coach

[01:26:44] and he's gonna have them ready

[01:26:46] and you're dealing with a first year coach

[01:26:48] in Spencer Carberry down in Washington.

[01:26:51] Maybe that definitely,

[01:26:52] well that definitely favors the Rangers,

[01:26:53] but maybe that'll be something that decides the series.

[01:26:57] I do think that Jonathan Quick in the playoffs

[01:27:00] does give them a better chance

[01:27:01] of winning the Cup than Igor Sesturkin.

[01:27:04] A lot of people would think I'm nuts,

[01:27:05] but I look at a guy who this year played

[01:27:08] like he was fucking 10 years younger

[01:27:11] and has the pedigree.

[01:27:14] And this guy all he does is win Stanley Cups.

[01:27:17] There's one thing that everybody can guarantee

[01:27:18] is the MSG is gonna be full of a bunch of schmucks

[01:27:22] this next coming week.

[01:27:23] I think on that note we're gonna wrap it up.

[01:27:25] It's getting a little bit late.

[01:27:29] Tim, since you joined us tonight

[01:27:32] and you have this life-changing platform,

[01:27:34] is there anybody you wanna say hello to,

[01:27:35] you wanna thank, you wanna shout out to them?

[01:27:38] No, not really.

[01:27:38] I don't know anybody that actually listens to

[01:27:40] the exercise today but.

[01:27:41] You got a OnlyFans page or anything going on here?

[01:27:43] I don't know.

[01:27:44] No, yeah just follow me on Twitter

[01:27:46] if you feel like stupid jokes about shit

[01:27:49] and the devil stuff and the occasional Yankee stuff.

[01:27:52] Tim Wood, W-U-U-D.

[01:27:54] I got their name from a bartender at a strip club

[01:27:57] who didn't exactly speak English.

[01:27:59] That's a good story for them to show.

[01:28:02] I was like, what?

[01:28:03] Wood?

[01:28:04] You mean Wood?

[01:28:05] And she was like, Wood, Mr. Wood.

[01:28:07] So that became my name for everything.

[01:28:09] You're Mr. Wood.

[01:28:11] Now I gotta take this racist shit out.

[01:28:13] Jesus.

[01:28:16] She was from the Eastern block.

[01:28:19] She was not.

[01:28:21] Tony, what's your wife's name?

[01:28:22] Is she working at a go-go bar?

[01:28:23] Yeah.

[01:28:25] No.

[01:28:27] No, no.

[01:28:28] Well on that note.

[01:28:29] I'm just not fucking talking now.

[01:28:31] And Tim, thank you so much for coming out tonight.

[01:28:33] No, thanks for having me.

[01:28:34] This was a lot of fun.

[01:28:36] Yeah, it was fun.

[01:28:36] But Tim, when you send those adult photos,

[01:28:38] can you send them over to Chris's Instagram privately?

[01:28:41] We all gotta see them in the fucking Uncle Pucker page.

[01:28:45] I'm just tagging you and everything.

[01:28:46] The tags.

[01:28:47] Link in bio.

[01:28:49] You're more than welcome to come on
