[00:00:12] Hello everybody, thank you guys for checking us out with the Uncle Puckers, Chris with Bob
[00:00:35] and Dan hanging out tonight and how's everybody doing today guys?
[00:00:40] Doing well man, how about you?
[00:00:42] Doing good, you guys enjoying the playoffs so far?
[00:00:45] Yeah, I mean it's had some bright spots, it could have gone a little bit better.
[00:00:49] What was that?
[00:00:50] I guess hopes and dreams falling down over here, some teams.
[00:00:54] Yeah, I didn't like the opening round for you know, the Hurricanes and Rangers, the
[00:01:01] opening game I was just really expecting.
[00:01:04] I was calling that really in I think a five games and now it's got to win four straight
[00:01:09] to make that true.
[00:01:10] Because you said the Canes in five, you're going with?
[00:01:14] I think I was going with a little bit of more anger.
[00:01:17] No, but that's what I was gonna pick.
[00:01:20] I probably should change that because you know.
[00:01:23] Oh no, I think you should stick with what you've got.
[00:01:25] I mean, I was honest about it.
[00:01:27] That's what I was gonna do and then they, but that's what happened.
[00:01:30] Ranger fans will tell you that they're never gonna lose a game.
[00:01:32] Yeah, they know best, yeah of course.
[00:01:35] I gotta tell you, it was fairly off the grid for as much as you can be while still
[00:01:39] being in the United States.
[00:01:40] I didn't really see anything just scores.
[00:01:44] I didn't even see highlights.
[00:01:45] The biggest highlight I saw was Pasa's goal because he has been kept replaying
[00:01:49] when I was finally in like a hotel back up East.
[00:01:52] I had a mental break from hockey and I gotta tell you, it was good because I was
[00:01:58] really getting worried leading up to the months where I was still optimistic that
[00:02:01] we were gonna make the playoffs knowing I had this vacation going.
[00:02:05] If the Devils were just round, I would have had a really tough time watching any of the games.
[00:02:09] So I think the Devils are not making the playoffs.
[00:02:12] That's so broader than that.
[00:02:13] Yeah, it's very nice though.
[00:02:15] We can all just feel good about the season now Bob, good for you.
[00:02:19] We should, yes.
[00:02:20] Finally, I see a reason for that.
[00:02:22] Listen, I could have watched it obviously if they were on.
[00:02:24] We had such family time and I would have figured it out but I didn't have to.
[00:02:29] I'll sum it up, especially the last few weeks of the playoffs so far.
[00:02:35] Posternauts goal was absolutely gorgeous too but goal tending, goal tending and goal tending.
[00:02:42] That's been it.
[00:02:44] I have seen some of the most amazing goal tending in any playoff round as good as this one.
[00:02:50] It's been fantastic and I'm taping right now the Boston, Florida game.
[00:02:55] I want to get over there and watch that.
[00:02:58] And Jeremy Swamin against Paprovsky, that's the only reason I really wanted Boston to win
[00:03:03] that thing.
[00:03:04] Yeah, I'm going to see more Swamin, right?
[00:03:06] Yeah, it was like a loss to either team is devastating so I'm happy either way.
[00:03:11] So it doesn't really end in the other hand.
[00:03:14] What do you get for a consolation prize?
[00:03:16] A well rested Florida Panther team.
[00:03:18] Have fun.
[00:03:19] Yes.
[00:03:20] That's how I was thinking about it.
[00:03:22] But Swamin played ridiculous in that series.
[00:03:27] Even Sad Aiden Hill had to go home last night.
[00:03:30] He was playing out of his head.
[00:03:32] Otinger is playing ridiculous hockey.
[00:03:34] Guys, if we made it, we would have been as bad as the capitals or worse in this one
[00:03:40] because if you didn't have elite goal tending, do not apply because these guys have just
[00:03:44] been playing amazing.
[00:03:46] Some elite goal tending got shot down pretty quick too then, right?
[00:03:49] Hell of a series.
[00:03:51] Let me rephrase.
[00:03:58] Elite goal tending is required.
[00:04:01] Elite goal tenders sometimes don't show up.
[00:04:04] And Connor Halibuck, now that you bring him up.
[00:04:07] I'll give you his regular season numbers.
[00:04:12] Let's see, he had 37 wins.
[00:04:14] He had a 9-21 save percentage and a 2-3-9 goals against.
[00:04:20] Damn good numbers in the playoffs.
[00:04:22] He had a 5-2-3 goals against and an 8-64 save percentage.
[00:04:30] Colorado blew him up for 24 goals in five games and made him look like VTEC Vanacheck.
[00:04:36] That was my upset pick.
[00:04:38] Boy, was I freaking wrong.
[00:04:40] We'll get back and we can do this.
[00:04:42] That's worse than the Devils combined numbers from last year which is hard to believe.
[00:04:46] If you didn't step up, I'll give Toronto a lot of credit too.
[00:04:51] I loved seeing Joseph Walpole.
[00:04:54] He was playing great in the last game.
[00:04:57] Samsonov played amazing.
[00:05:00] It was just awesome goal tending.
[00:05:03] Yesterday's show, Tony and I were talking about the Ranger Carolina series.
[00:05:09] That series is going to come down to special teams and goal tending.
[00:05:15] You watched that game yesterday.
[00:05:17] It was special teams and goal tending.
[00:05:19] That's why unfortunately I have to go with the Rangers in 7 because I'm looking at both teams and they're both really freaking good.
[00:05:28] I got to give the edges to Sturkin over Freddie Anderson.
[00:05:32] Freddie Anderson had 4th goal yesterday.
[00:05:34] That was the goal he had to stop in the playoffs.
[00:05:36] I agree with you in the goal tending department but I feel like the Canes do have a better playoff team.
[00:05:42] That's yet to be seen.
[00:05:44] You're right that the Rangers have the one-nothing lead in the series.
[00:05:47] I can't take that away from them.
[00:05:49] I think Sturkin is objectively a better goal tender.
[00:05:55] If you want to look at this through some crazy rose colored glasses,
[00:06:02] I suppose you would maybe on some sense want the Rangers to maybe whoop this thing up in 4 or 5.
[00:06:08] Maybe Rod Brindlemore and management in Carolina aren't so happy about the way things are going.
[00:06:14] Maybe then Rod Brindlemore decides, you know what?
[00:06:18] Maybe I'm going to go check out some other checks.
[00:06:21] Taking a step backwards in the playoffs as far as they go.
[00:06:24] If you want to look at it through that, but I still can't.
[00:06:29] As much as it sounds great to recklessly speculate about it.
[00:06:32] You don't think there's a path, huh?
[00:06:34] Listen, I know how Carolina is as far as an organization and I kind of liken them to when Lou was running the Devils.
[00:06:44] They're cheap. They don't like to spend money.
[00:06:46] But I just think when you have a guy like Rod Brindlemore, are you really going to let him walk out the door?
[00:06:53] Especially because they don't seem like they have any big problems with personalities on their team.
[00:06:58] They still seem like a cohesive team.
[00:07:01] Even if they somehow lose to the Rangers, I don't see them losing in the fashion of maybe Toronto where you go.
[00:07:07] What the fuck is going on with this team?
[00:07:09] But if you look at Carolina, right?
[00:07:11] They never have the big name in there, right?
[00:07:13] They're not going out there getting the big free agents.
[00:07:17] They don't have guys like Jack Hughes on that team like Sebastian Ahoz, their best player.
[00:07:21] And he's fantastic, but he kind of does it by himself.
[00:07:24] Spetzelkopf is very good, but I'm saying they don't have that elite talent.
[00:07:27] They play with just that great hard-nosed smart hockey and they have great defense.
[00:07:33] And that's how they win.
[00:07:35] And if you're not going to go out there and spend that money and bring some guys in,
[00:07:39] how much further is this team going to go?
[00:07:41] If you're the Hurricanes ownership and you're looking at this team,
[00:07:46] you tell me somebody who can get as much of these guys as Brindlemore has gotten over the last six years.
[00:07:51] You just can't. Who are you going to replace them with?
[00:07:53] But if you're Brindlemore, maybe you're going,
[00:07:55] I need to go somewhere where there's ownership that maybe can spend some money,
[00:07:59] get some guys in here that maybe I want or need.
[00:08:02] I'm just making shit up, but sure.
[00:08:04] Right. He might be wanting more talent to work with.
[00:08:08] That would be what you hope.
[00:08:10] I don't know. That is interesting.
[00:08:12] I wonder, that'd be real exciting to know in his heart of hearts,
[00:08:16] whether he'd like a shot at coaching the Devils.
[00:08:19] I mean, we say all the time the Devils are maybe a coach who's dreaming some ways
[00:08:23] and I totally get that.
[00:08:25] But like Brindlemore, it does seem like he's a hardworking guy.
[00:08:28] He demands that hard work.
[00:08:30] And so by the same token,
[00:08:32] if you can get that from players who aren't like the most elite in the league,
[00:08:37] he's happy.
[00:08:38] And if you can't get the hardest work, he probably does no use for people
[00:08:41] who don't want to, you know,
[00:08:43] I agree into that level, which I think the fans here agree
[00:08:46] and you agree and I agree,
[00:08:48] but you know, you wonder how that fit would be, you know,
[00:08:51] and I hope to find out if it's not,
[00:08:53] if it's not a Brindlemore than somebody else who's going to demand that work ethic.
[00:08:58] That's what we're hoping for.
[00:09:00] You know, you can, this Devil team in the next four or five years
[00:09:06] are either going to be a team that can get their shit together
[00:09:10] and be at Tampa Bay, you know, Tampa Bay, or Florida, or Rangers
[00:09:14] and be serious contenders every year.
[00:09:17] They're going to be at Toronto Maple Leafs.
[00:09:19] Like that's legitimately, there are two routes.
[00:09:21] There are going to be that team that's going to have great regular seasons
[00:09:25] fall apart in the playoffs.
[00:09:26] Like they need to, you know,
[00:09:27] eventually we're going to find out
[00:09:29] and it's going to see by how this team is built throughout the summer
[00:09:32] and coaching is a huge part of it.
[00:09:35] And I think even though we're talking about those,
[00:09:38] I'll probably say that tomorrow they'll announce Craig Baroubis to coach
[00:09:42] and we're just going to say, oh right, well there we go.
[00:09:44] Because he apparently is.
[00:09:46] That would be as far as this attitude we're talking about
[00:09:50] that Brindlemore would give you.
[00:09:52] Baroubis may be the next best choice there, right?
[00:09:54] I'd be very happy with Craig Baroubis.
[00:09:56] Very happy.
[00:09:57] I'm going to think, you know,
[00:09:58] I really think that Brindlemore, his heart's down there.
[00:10:01] It's not to say that you can't say,
[00:10:03] your heart will give you two more million dollars,
[00:10:05] has it, has your heart down.
[00:10:06] But I don't think that's going to be the case.
[00:10:07] I think he's staying there.
[00:10:08] I mean, it seems like Baroubis is going to be the guy.
[00:10:10] We've talked about him for a while now.
[00:10:12] Yeah.
[00:10:13] He is a very good option for what this team needs.
[00:10:16] It's a little bit of recycling, of course,
[00:10:19] but it is the type of coach we need.
[00:10:22] So I have a feeling it'll be done tomorrow.
[00:10:24] Take Brindlemore out of the equation, right?
[00:10:28] And what was our prerequisites, right?
[00:10:30] They had to have a Stanley Cup check.
[00:10:32] Right.
[00:10:33] As a coach, which is even better.
[00:10:35] And you know, the guy is just, he's,
[00:10:38] what he did with St. Louis,
[00:10:40] which was a very young team and got these guys to play
[00:10:44] at such a level that they go on and win the cup
[00:10:47] in his first year.
[00:10:49] Now I'm not saying he's going to do that with the Devils,
[00:10:51] but he knows what he's doing
[00:10:52] and he is exactly what this locker room needs right now.
[00:10:55] He is.
[00:10:56] I worry a little bit about that St. Louis run.
[00:10:58] Some of these things just magically come together
[00:11:01] and it just becomes so positive,
[00:11:03] kind of like our regular season last year.
[00:11:05] There's nothing you're going to do to derail it.
[00:11:07] You're not going to say the wrong thing.
[00:11:08] It's like an energy.
[00:11:09] Something just kind of takes over.
[00:11:10] No, I'm just saying that it buys inequity in that locker room.
[00:11:12] Oh, absolutely.
[00:11:13] That's my whole thing.
[00:11:14] Like when you have that and you know what to say
[00:11:17] in certain situations,
[00:11:19] and these guys are going to look at you a lot differently
[00:11:21] than, you know, a lot of other people like,
[00:11:23] yeah, I get it, but you're still at the helm of it.
[00:11:25] And you know, without the right guys steering the ship,
[00:11:28] you know, they don't win the cup.
[00:11:30] So I give them a ton of credit for that.
[00:11:32] For me, I'm just excited in any way, shape or form
[00:11:36] to kind of have that new voice.
[00:11:38] And obviously it'll be a new system,
[00:11:40] but I think it'll still be,
[00:11:42] you got to work with what we have.
[00:11:43] It should still be that quote unquote fast supporting
[00:11:46] attacking team.
[00:11:47] But then you got to kind of tweak the rest
[00:11:49] and how you make that all work together.
[00:11:51] So I'm just very excited for that when we saw the news
[00:11:54] about green.
[00:11:55] I just felt like any element of the old guard had to go.
[00:11:58] Like it couldn't, it wouldn't make sense.
[00:12:01] It didn't make sense to bring green back.
[00:12:03] He didn't even show towards the end that he, and again,
[00:12:06] it wasn't his fault as far as timing to change the system
[00:12:09] and all that kind of stuff.
[00:12:10] But there wasn't even that spark for more than a game
[00:12:13] and a half.
[00:12:14] It would have been if he propositioned,
[00:12:15] if he had a winning record or got something good out
[00:12:17] of the team, but you know, it wasn't even close.
[00:12:21] So like it'd be insane to bring him back at this point.
[00:12:24] I'm not only like totally not surprised at all that he's not
[00:12:28] back.
[00:12:29] I never, I didn't really think he had a chance.
[00:12:31] But I am kind of surprised that Ottawa hired him so quickly.
[00:12:34] Like that's, you just named why we didn't hire him Bob.
[00:12:39] Like why did they?
[00:12:41] And that's what I'm thinking about today.
[00:12:42] I'm like how did two, most, I have to think that
[00:12:46] most people who follow the NHL coach level player level
[00:12:49] fan would all kind of intelligently sit back and say,
[00:12:52] listen, most of the pieces are there in New Jersey.
[00:12:55] Some major things went wrong.
[00:12:56] Yeah, goal turning upgrade and this and that.
[00:12:58] But like to see our two coaches just get picked that quick
[00:13:04] this early in May.
[00:13:07] You don't think maybe they were a little bit of a problem.
[00:13:11] I just surprised they got picked up so quickly.
[00:13:14] It's baffling.
[00:13:15] It's absolutely baffling.
[00:13:17] Like what did,
[00:13:20] right, Lindy Ruff at least like he said, you know, he's been
[00:13:23] around forever.
[00:13:24] But you know, I kind of, okay, it's Buffalo.
[00:13:27] Like if any other team just plucked Lindy Ruff out, I might
[00:13:30] have questioned a little bit more, but it's Buffalo.
[00:13:32] It's kind of like, you know, yeah, dad, you can come and
[00:13:34] live in the basement until you die.
[00:13:36] You come back home, you know, that kind of thing like that.
[00:13:38] So I get that one.
[00:13:40] But I don't know if he's got any connections to that
[00:13:42] organization, but you know, I had to just look up like
[00:13:44] where is Travis Green from?
[00:13:46] He's actually from British Columbia.
[00:13:47] So it doesn't make any sense.
[00:13:48] I don't know why Ottawa would jump all over.
[00:13:50] Okay.
[00:13:51] So there you go.
[00:13:52] I mean, but I guess they saw something in the interview.
[00:13:55] I mean, look, I think Travis Green is a great guy.
[00:13:58] I mean, I think he was dealt a really impossible hand to deal
[00:14:03] with this year.
[00:14:04] Nobody was getting anything out of his team.
[00:14:06] So, you know, I'm happy for him.
[00:14:09] I just think like Ottawa was also like, I just don't
[00:14:13] really see the fit.
[00:14:14] Like Ottawa seems to me like they need more of a John Ford
[00:14:18] and Rola guy up there right now.
[00:14:20] There are a couple years behind the Devils, right?
[00:14:22] And it's just, I don't know.
[00:14:24] They're just constantly disappointed.
[00:14:27] They were supposed to be the team to take the big hop.
[00:14:32] It was still, it was supposed to be Detroit and Buffalo
[00:14:36] and Ottawa and who was going to be buying for those last
[00:14:39] one or two playoff spots and ended up going to the
[00:14:41] Islanders in Washington.
[00:14:43] You know, let's hope that's their last.
[00:14:45] I think what that team needs is a big fall for Kachuk.
[00:14:49] I've solved all the problems.
[00:14:50] I got a haul for them.
[00:14:52] But you do Bobby.
[00:14:54] You guys want to do go over our picks from last round
[00:14:58] and do ours this one.
[00:15:00] Yeah, remind you try to remember what the hell I picked.
[00:15:02] I know I got a lot wrong.
[00:15:04] No, actually, I think I got the most wrong,
[00:15:07] but we're going to stay here.
[00:15:09] Okay.
[00:15:10] So we'll start with the Colorado series, right?
[00:15:15] They beat the Jetson five.
[00:15:17] I had, I had, let's see, Winnipeg in seven.
[00:15:21] So I was wrong.
[00:15:22] Bob had Winnipeg in seven.
[00:15:24] Dan had the abs in seven and Tony had the abs in seven
[00:15:28] and Tim had the Jetson seven.
[00:15:30] So then you and Tony got that one right.
[00:15:32] You're only wrong by two games.
[00:15:34] I meant to took out LA in five games.
[00:15:37] I said Edmonton in six.
[00:15:39] Bob said Edmonton in seven.
[00:15:41] Dan Edmonton in six.
[00:15:42] Tony Edmonton in six.
[00:15:44] Tim nailed it in five.
[00:15:46] So Dallas over Vegas in seven.
[00:15:50] I said Dallas in six.
[00:15:52] Bob said Dallas in six.
[00:15:54] Dan said Dallas in six.
[00:15:55] Tony said Dallas in seven.
[00:15:57] Tim said Dallas in six.
[00:15:59] Tony nailed that one.
[00:16:00] So yeah, he got it.
[00:16:02] Vancouver took out Nashville in six.
[00:16:05] I said Vancouver in five.
[00:16:07] Bob said Vancouver in five.
[00:16:09] Dan said Vancouver in five and Tony and Tim both said Vancouver in six.
[00:16:15] We come up with a point system for this shit.
[00:16:17] No, because like I could see like one point for calling it two points
[00:16:21] for calling how many games three if you call it over time.
[00:16:25] I don't know.
[00:16:26] Six six always seems like the cop out answer.
[00:16:29] Well, like I don't have a goal to say five and everything goes seven
[00:16:32] and I know that because I'm looking at my four and I got to get it.
[00:16:35] Six hits right in the middle.
[00:16:37] It really does.
[00:16:38] Look at a series like a lot of series and in six.
[00:16:41] Four is like, you know, really overweight.
[00:16:44] Even five is tough.
[00:16:46] Six is such a safe answer.
[00:16:47] Four and five, you feel like you're slapping a team in the face.
[00:16:50] Yeah.
[00:16:51] Seven you're like, oh yeah.
[00:16:52] It's just six just seems like the safest spot.
[00:16:54] And it's not like Tony to pick the safest spot in any one of these games.
[00:17:00] Let me see how many Tony has on six.
[00:17:02] Actually, we're getting there.
[00:17:05] All right.
[00:17:06] Only one left.
[00:17:07] So let's see the Keynes took out the Islanders in five.
[00:17:11] Me and Tim said the Keynes were going to sweep.
[00:17:14] Bobby said the Keynes in five and Dana Tony had the Keynes in six.
[00:17:18] Boston took out Toronto and seven me and Tim.
[00:17:23] No, I'm sorry.
[00:17:24] I had Boston and six.
[00:17:25] Tim had Toronto and six.
[00:17:28] Bobby had Boston and seven.
[00:17:30] And Tony had Boston and seven and then Toronto and seven.
[00:17:34] Okay.
[00:17:35] Florida took out Tampa in five.
[00:17:37] That was a really surprising series to me.
[00:17:40] Like I really thought that Tampa Bay was going to come back and put up a fight there.
[00:17:44] And Florida is, and I think Tampa Bay would have beaten Boston.
[00:17:50] Would have beaten Carolina like the way they've been playing.
[00:17:53] Actually, I had another deep run in them.
[00:17:55] Yeah.
[00:17:56] I think they both picked Tampa Bay for that one reason.
[00:17:58] I thought maybe they had another one of them.
[00:18:00] Wasn't going to call me to stay on the cup.
[00:18:01] I think you're done with your stay on the cups.
[00:18:03] And at the last minute, I, with my better judgment, obviously.
[00:18:06] Yeah.
[00:18:07] I couldn't learn to get past Florida either.
[00:18:09] I mean, yes, I do think Tampa is definitely done.
[00:18:13] Yeah, they might, they're going to get into playoffs and stuff,
[00:18:16] but they're probably going to be one and done for the next few years.
[00:18:19] I think if they were to drew better,
[00:18:20] they could have had a little swan song that way.
[00:18:22] I agree.
[00:18:23] Yeah.
[00:18:24] I think they were playing such awesome hockey at the end of this season.
[00:18:28] But here's the thing, like if you watch those five games,
[00:18:31] Tampa really wasn't playing bad.
[00:18:33] Florida is just that freaking good.
[00:18:35] They are.
[00:18:36] They're scary good.
[00:18:37] They have not led up since last year.
[00:18:40] And they have not.
[00:18:41] And yeah, I mean, so Florida in five,
[00:18:45] I took the lightning in six.
[00:18:47] I was the only one that took the lightning.
[00:18:49] Everybody else took the Panthers in seven.
[00:18:51] So, then the Rangers in four.
[00:18:56] Oh man, I blew this one.
[00:18:58] I said the capitals in seven and Tim said the capitals in six.
[00:19:02] And everyone else said the Rangers in six.
[00:19:05] Me?
[00:19:06] I thought he said the capitals in four.
[00:19:08] Didn't you say?
[00:19:09] Rangers.
[00:19:10] Are you sure about that?
[00:19:11] That's what Bobby said you texted.
[00:19:12] He was reading yours off.
[00:19:13] Oh shit.
[00:19:14] Because I might hate it so strong.
[00:19:16] I'm surprised that I did that.
[00:19:18] I don't care if it's a smart move or not.
[00:19:21] I hear you.
[00:19:22] All right, well let's move on to the second round.
[00:19:25] Dallas Colorado.
[00:19:27] I know one of you decided on,
[00:19:29] well you're going to have to decide soon.
[00:19:30] So, we'll start ordering next to you.
[00:19:33] And then when we get back around,
[00:19:34] hopefully you figure out what you want.
[00:19:36] Dallas over Colorado, or Dallas versus Colorado,
[00:19:39] they're one seed in the central verse,
[00:19:41] the three seed in the central.
[00:19:43] And just saying,
[00:19:45] Colorado is the lowest seed right now going in there to three seed.
[00:19:48] So, anybody below three is gone.
[00:19:51] So, this is from going out as far as standings.
[00:19:54] This is the best of the best.
[00:19:56] The abs were three and one in the season series against the stars.
[00:20:01] They beat them six-three.
[00:20:03] They beat them five-four in overtime.
[00:20:05] They beat them five-one.
[00:20:06] The only game the stars won was a seven-four win.
[00:20:09] In front of my eyes.
[00:20:11] What's that?
[00:20:13] In front of my eyes.
[00:20:14] That's right.
[00:20:15] You were there.
[00:20:16] I am going with the Colorado Avalanche in seven.
[00:20:21] Tony is going with the Avalanche in seven,
[00:20:24] and Tim put his second round in.
[00:20:26] He's going with Dallas in seven.
[00:20:28] Bobby, what do you got?
[00:20:29] So, I'm a huge fan of the Avalanche.
[00:20:32] They just took away my upset by beating Winnipeg.
[00:20:36] I'm going to lean on the fact that I've just got this feeling about Dallas.
[00:20:40] And I did see that one game.
[00:20:42] The way Dallas handled the Avalanche,
[00:20:44] that late in the year.
[00:20:45] I'm going to go with them.
[00:20:46] I'm going to go with them in six.
[00:20:48] Can I change my pick?
[00:20:50] Sure.
[00:20:51] Yeah.
[00:20:52] We haven't...
[00:20:53] All right, so Bobby, you're saying the stars in six.
[00:20:55] Yes.
[00:20:56] Well, I just went on before my whole spiel about goaltenders.
[00:21:00] And I'm looking at this series and I have the abs in seven.
[00:21:05] I'm going to change it to the stars in seven.
[00:21:07] I'm going with Jake Ottinger over Gugoria or whatever his name is.
[00:21:13] So, yeah, I'm changing it.
[00:21:15] Dan, what do you got?
[00:21:16] I got abs in six.
[00:21:17] I think that...
[00:21:18] Wow.
[00:21:19] Yeah, Vegas is good and all, but they barely squeaked by in seven games.
[00:21:24] Dallas.
[00:21:25] So much so that Vegas went home and they're playing Dallas.
[00:21:31] That's what I'm saying though.
[00:21:33] No, you just said...
[00:21:34] No, I'm...
[00:21:35] Dallas barely got by Vegas.
[00:21:37] Oh, you're saying Dallas barely got by Vegas.
[00:21:39] Oh, okay.
[00:21:40] Okay, okay.
[00:21:41] I don't know.
[00:21:42] No, no.
[00:21:43] I'm just saying, Colorado took care of business against a team and they made, you know, Halibuck
[00:21:51] look like shit.
[00:21:52] So, I think you guys are not giving them enough credit and I'm going to take abs in six.
[00:21:59] It's a good point.
[00:22:00] I mean, they took a great goalie and made him look really, really bad.
[00:22:05] Yep.
[00:22:06] Ottinger, you're next.
[00:22:07] Yeah.
[00:22:08] For me, I want the abs to win.
[00:22:10] I just, I just...
[00:22:11] No, you just got against them though.
[00:22:13] Yeah, I did.
[00:22:14] You got hate the abs.
[00:22:15] You just went there this year and then you hate them.
[00:22:18] Ruin my game.
[00:22:19] I just listened to Dan Spiele and I'm thinking about what they did against the judges.
[00:22:23] You're going to change again.
[00:22:24] What are you doing?
[00:22:25] Ab, holy shit.
[00:22:26] Seven.
[00:22:27] Okay.
[00:22:28] Well, all right.
[00:22:29] We're going to have to go back to the tape just to remember what he actually
[00:22:32] picked when we're doing this next week.
[00:22:34] Colorado, Avalanche in seven.
[00:22:36] Okay.
[00:22:37] Three seed in the central will move on.
[00:22:39] I'll see if we could change his mind every single pick, Bob.
[00:22:42] Let's do that.
[00:22:43] Never again.
[00:22:44] Chris, you go first on every single one of these.
[00:22:45] Let's go.
[00:22:46] All right.
[00:22:47] Sure thing.
[00:22:48] Vancouver over Edmonton, the first and second seed in the Pacific.
[00:22:51] Jesus.
[00:22:52] Vancouver swept the season series.
[00:22:54] They won...
[00:22:55] Now remember they had those first two games of the year were Vancouver, Edmonton.
[00:22:59] And that was when Edmonton was, you know, didn't show up.
[00:23:03] I mean, I don't know what the hell they were thinking.
[00:23:05] They had a rough start, right?
[00:23:06] Yeah.
[00:23:07] I had forgotten about that.
[00:23:08] So, I think the teams, I believe it was the eight one and a four three loss to Vancouver.
[00:23:13] So then they played like, I guess around, I don't have the dates, but I think it was
[00:23:17] right around the holidays.
[00:23:18] Vancouver won six to two.
[00:23:20] And then they played with like the last month or so of the season three, one Vancouver.
[00:23:24] So Vancouver is one for I'm taking the Canucks in six.
[00:23:30] Tony has the Oilers in six and Tim has the Oilers in seven.
[00:23:34] Bobby, what do you got?
[00:23:35] And tell me why?
[00:23:36] Why should I change my.
[00:23:37] Why should I change my Vancouver?
[00:23:38] I cannot make you change what I have picked exactly the same way.
[00:23:43] I have Vancouver in six.
[00:23:45] And I do like Edmonton's game.
[00:23:48] And I think in the beginning of the year, I even said it maybe like to see them win
[00:23:52] the cup or I can see them getting to the Stanley Cup finals.
[00:23:55] But now with this matchup and just the way Vancouver is built and playing, I just
[00:24:00] I think that this is as far as they go.
[00:24:02] So Vancouver in six.
[00:24:06] Well, I know this was not the strongest Kings team of all time, but Edmonton beat
[00:24:11] their ass pretty good.
[00:24:13] And I think Edmonton's on a roll here.
[00:24:15] I think Vancouver looked pretty good against a much weaker Nashville than the
[00:24:21] Kings, I think.
[00:24:23] And I say that with some regret because they were playing a hot streak there
[00:24:28] at the end.
[00:24:29] But I think overall you look at those two teams.
[00:24:31] I think, you know, Nashville was not the deep playoff team this year.
[00:24:35] And now I'm going to give the edge to Edmonton.
[00:24:38] I think that, you know, they're going to push hard here.
[00:24:42] They got a chance at the finals.
[00:24:44] I think they got a bigger pull in this than Vancouver.
[00:24:48] They got some, you know, Western Canada thing going on.
[00:24:51] And I think they are the sharper team.
[00:24:53] How many?
[00:24:54] Six.
[00:24:56] No, you know what?
[00:24:57] I'm going to give them seven.
[00:24:58] I'm going to give them seven on this.
[00:24:59] I flipped myself there.
[00:25:01] I like it.
[00:25:02] I agree with everything you said.
[00:25:04] Like, I mean, there's really these two teams, I like them both.
[00:25:08] And it's going to be, but, you know, seeing what Vancouver keeps doing in
[00:25:12] net too is the other thing.
[00:25:14] Like, they're on their third goalie in one series.
[00:25:17] Right.
[00:25:18] You know, they're going to, so, and he played good.
[00:25:21] But, you know, that's one thing I am saying Edmonton is, you know,
[00:25:26] if this kid is not for real and he just had an Akira Schmidt type series,
[00:25:31] he's going to get lit up with Conor McDavid and dry saddle.
[00:25:35] So, and the rest of the boys, you're absolutely right.
[00:25:38] But I like Vancouver, man.
[00:25:40] I just, when they came back, they played like dog shit.
[00:25:43] And I think it was game five against predators.
[00:25:46] It was like two minutes left.
[00:25:47] They were down two goals.
[00:25:49] And they, uh, yeah, it was Brock Bester scored.
[00:25:52] He scores the two.
[00:25:53] And then they went in overtime.
[00:25:55] Like, or no, no, I don't know if it went to overtime or he just won it with less
[00:26:01] than two and a half minutes.
[00:26:02] But anyway, Vancouver wins.
[00:26:03] And I just stayed there just that team, man.
[00:26:06] They seem to have it.
[00:26:07] There's something about them this year.
[00:26:09] That was a flash of a lap, so that's when you knew that Nashville did not have it anymore.
[00:26:13] No, I did.
[00:26:14] I did.
[00:26:15] But Vancouver, you know, to keep fighting like that, that series was over.
[00:26:18] That's true.
[00:26:19] I mean, not series brother.
[00:26:20] That game was over two and a half minutes left.
[00:26:22] It could have been just as easy to say, fuck it.
[00:26:24] Let's just play for game six and go home.
[00:26:26] But they didn't.
[00:26:27] And I think it's, uh, I think it's going to be their year.
[00:26:32] Not saying they're winning the cup yet.
[00:26:34] Let's see how the next series plays out.
[00:26:36] So I guess I would have the avalanche against the Knux in the Western
[00:26:41] Conference final.
[00:26:42] Bobby, you have the same thing.
[00:26:44] You know, I've got Dallas.
[00:26:46] He's got Dallas.
[00:26:47] Yeah.
[00:26:48] You have Dallas and Vancouver in a final.
[00:26:50] I've got Edmonton, Colorado.
[00:26:53] And Tim's got Dallas Edmonton.
[00:26:55] So we have every version of it, I think, right?
[00:26:58] Yeah, I think that's every permutation.
[00:27:01] All right.
[00:27:02] Florida, Boston for Boston one day rest and they got to go deal with
[00:27:08] the Panthers.
[00:27:09] Yeah.
[00:27:10] Yeah.
[00:27:11] The first and second season in the Atlantic, Boston sweat Boston
[00:27:14] swept the season series.
[00:27:16] They had a three, two overtime win.
[00:27:18] They won three, one, four, three and a three, two overtime win.
[00:27:22] So two overtime wins, two regulation wins.
[00:27:25] Uh, looks like all by one goal.
[00:27:28] One was, yeah, one was a three one, but I'm going to say it was
[00:27:32] an empty netter just guessing.
[00:27:34] So all by one goal.
[00:27:35] I have Florida in six.
[00:27:38] I kind of thought about four and then I kind of thought
[00:27:41] about five, but you guys, you know, are right.
[00:27:45] Sweet six is the sweet spot.
[00:27:47] I don't want six.
[00:27:48] I think Boston, just with Jeremy Swamin, I think Boston is
[00:27:51] severely outgunned in this except for Jeremy Swamin.
[00:27:55] So Jeremy Swamin steals them a couple of games, but in the
[00:27:58] end, Florida's Florida, they roll them in six.
[00:28:01] Uh, and actually that's what everyone else has to Tony
[00:28:04] and Tim have them in six.
[00:28:05] Bob, what do you got?
[00:28:06] I used up all my sixes in the West.
[00:28:09] I'm now going to all sevens for these two.
[00:28:11] And honestly, I am flopping hardcore on this.
[00:28:15] I see that.
[00:28:16] I got on paper right away.
[00:28:18] I just had Florida ticking right through the playoffs
[00:28:20] just like last year, but I can't believe I'm even
[00:28:24] thinking this about Boston because we thought they were
[00:28:26] not going to be doormats for God's sakes.
[00:28:28] We didn't think you'd do anything like this year.
[00:28:30] And I'm going with that goal tending thing and I love
[00:28:34] what I'm seeing from Swamin.
[00:28:35] I love watching Swamin and I just think that, you know,
[00:28:39] why does Florida got to make it three rounds every year?
[00:28:42] It's really hard to do that.
[00:28:44] So I think I'm going to take Boston and seven as much
[00:28:48] as I hate it.
[00:28:49] Oh, we were so close, Bob.
[00:28:50] I had very similar logic.
[00:28:53] And here's why I get lost.
[00:28:55] It's his logic?
[00:28:56] Okay.
[00:28:57] He's prepared.
[00:28:58] Very serious, very similar twisted logic.
[00:29:01] No, you know what it is?
[00:29:03] I give Boston credit because they've played with a
[00:29:06] chip on their shoulder.
[00:29:07] They didn't want to repeat last year.
[00:29:09] And so thank God for them to get out of the first round.
[00:29:11] But who do they face?
[00:29:12] The team that put them out first round last year,
[00:29:14] they're going to play with so much effort and fire.
[00:29:18] You got, you know, Marshawn fired up.
[00:29:20] They're going to give him a good series.
[00:29:22] And the only question is, do I go Florida and six or
[00:29:25] Florida and seven because I don't care how good a series
[00:29:27] they give them Florida.
[00:29:28] Is that good?
[00:29:29] I really think they are that good.
[00:29:30] I think they got it where it counts.
[00:29:31] I thought you were going with Boston, Dan.
[00:29:32] Yeah.
[00:29:33] But I'm just saying honestly, if this was,
[00:29:36] you know, if this was the Rangers,
[00:29:39] you know, it's a question of is it four or five?
[00:29:41] You know, I think Florida is just that good.
[00:29:45] And as much credit as I want to give Boston,
[00:29:48] I don't think that they can be,
[00:29:51] you know, let's look at this objectively.
[00:29:53] They let Toronto make a series of that.
[00:29:56] If you think you could do that to Florida and get away
[00:29:58] with it, I don't think so.
[00:30:00] I think you're going to pay the price.
[00:30:01] Excellent point.
[00:30:02] So I still have to give Florida edge.
[00:30:04] I was just torn between six and seven and just to show
[00:30:07] some respect for the fact that I know Boston is going to play
[00:30:10] extremely hard because it's going to wear on their soul deeply.
[00:30:14] If they go out to Florida again, they'll make it seven games,
[00:30:18] but they're not going to come through.
[00:30:20] Every game that Boston played against Florida this year was
[00:30:24] a playoff game to them.
[00:30:25] It was one goal, way to crisp point.
[00:30:28] But it wasn't a playoff game for Florida.
[00:30:30] It's got upset written all over it.
[00:30:34] I'll shake it as I say, I'll be the only guy going against the
[00:30:36] grain and I don't even want to win.
[00:30:39] It's not that it's not that wide of a call.
[00:30:41] So I totally see where you're coming from.
[00:30:43] I think it's a very wide call.
[00:30:45] I think this is the no brainer series.
[00:30:48] Well, absolutely shock me if they fucking win this thing.
[00:30:53] And I mean, if you look at Dan said it right,
[00:30:56] they let Toronto in.
[00:30:58] Now you weren't around.
[00:31:00] Dan and I did a show when it was three one Boston right
[00:31:03] after I think it was the day after that game for where it's
[00:31:06] like fucking Toronto and even want to show up.
[00:31:09] I was MF in Toronto up and down.
[00:31:11] I was going off on everybody on that team.
[00:31:13] They need to blow it up this and that and Boston let them come
[00:31:17] in at they scored like two goals the entire freaking series.
[00:31:20] Boston let some crawl in and listen,
[00:31:23] I get what you're saying about Swamin.
[00:31:25] I absolutely love Jeremy Swamin.
[00:31:27] I wanted to swim in on the devils last year and you know,
[00:31:30] I love the kid, but it's not like it's fucking nobody over there.
[00:31:34] It's Bobrovsky who's playing just as good.
[00:31:37] It's not playing justice.
[00:31:39] Stop. He's not playing as good as last year.
[00:31:42] I think Swamin can go on a magical ride.
[00:31:44] And March on will not be for the first time in a while.
[00:31:47] Not since last series in the first round is not going to be
[00:31:50] the biggest prick on the ice because Matthew Chuck is there.
[00:31:53] And that's what I'm saying.
[00:31:54] That's a good thing for Florida.
[00:31:57] And you know, I just I can't and Florida has been sitting home
[00:32:01] for the last week and a half.
[00:32:03] Boston just played.
[00:32:05] I hear you, dude.
[00:32:06] For all the reasons you're saying that I did not want to do this.
[00:32:09] Look what it did to the devils after we beat the Rangers in seven.
[00:32:12] We had one day rest.
[00:32:14] We went down to Carolina and we got smoked.
[00:32:17] But I got you.
[00:32:19] That series was over and five.
[00:32:21] When I do these brackets and I always look at who should come on top
[00:32:25] inevitably in every year there are a few scenarios where that does not happen.
[00:32:30] I was looking into this playoff saying, where is that going to happen?
[00:32:34] I thought it was going to be the Jets over the abs something kind of
[00:32:37] minimally shocking.
[00:32:38] That didn't happen.
[00:32:39] Everything else I picked was kind of, yep, that's what happened.
[00:32:42] There's no way I can go on a streak like that with only getting one
[00:32:45] playoff round wrong.
[00:32:46] So I might as well go for two.
[00:32:48] But here's the thing.
[00:32:50] This is my house.
[00:32:51] I've smarted yourself.
[00:32:52] Yeah, I think you did.
[00:32:54] Or maybe I just, I'm about to because like, who knows, right?
[00:32:58] This is why we play the games.
[00:32:59] The way these brackets are set up for this second round.
[00:33:02] It's not like there's a seven seed still in or even a six seed or
[00:33:06] even a five seed or even a four seed.
[00:33:09] This is the best of the best that's left.
[00:33:12] This is the final eight and there actually are the best teams that
[00:33:16] were on paper.
[00:33:17] So, you know, kind of the way these things should go might be
[00:33:20] just the way it goes because these teams are so evenly matched.
[00:33:23] Like I get what you're trying to say, like, you know, I can't keep
[00:33:26] saying, well, I think this is going to happen.
[00:33:28] So inevitably something I think is going to happen is not going
[00:33:31] to happen.
[00:33:32] These teams are shell shocked from being a Devils fan.
[00:33:34] This is when you think everything's going good.
[00:33:36] You know,
[00:33:37] So I don't know.
[00:33:38] I'm just riding, I guess that's just it.
[00:33:41] Hey, listen, he really I can, I'd say Boston would steal
[00:33:46] a series if it was any other goalie in these playoff
[00:33:49] other than Swayman right now.
[00:33:51] And every other goalie in these playoffs is playing ridiculous.
[00:33:54] Even the third stringer from Vancouver is playing friggin amazing.
[00:33:59] All right, which brings us to the last series, which is going
[00:34:04] to be a tough one to talk about.
[00:34:06] It's a little triggering for Devils fans.
[00:34:08] So,
[00:34:09] Yeah, I love people saying they want them both to lose.
[00:34:13] Right.
[00:34:14] Carolina of course beat us last year and we hate the
[00:34:17] Rangers just, you know, viscerally deep in our souls.
[00:34:21] Tony put it perfectly yesterday on the podcast when we talked
[00:34:25] a little bit about this and we were talking about the Rangers.
[00:34:29] What it's like watching the Rangers do good.
[00:34:32] And Tony said it makes me want to view and exactly how I feel
[00:34:37] it makes me want to view literally gets sick is how much
[00:34:41] I hate them that they have not even lost a playoff game yet.
[00:34:45] So Rangers canes first in the Metro second in the Metro.
[00:34:50] Oh boy, they played three times this year.
[00:34:54] I don't know why they only played three times unless they
[00:34:57] must have missed the game maybe I don't know.
[00:35:00] Rangers one two of them one nothing and two one in the
[00:35:03] Canes one six one.
[00:35:05] So that's it.
[00:35:07] Listen, I got the Rangers in seven.
[00:35:09] I think they're going to the finals.
[00:35:11] Tony's got the Canes in seven Rangers in seven those
[00:35:14] Tim's got the Rangers in seven.
[00:35:17] I hate to say it though but I said yesterday special teams
[00:35:20] and goaltending is what's going to win this series and
[00:35:23] anything indicative of anything yesterday.
[00:35:26] It's going to come down the special teams and goaltending
[00:35:28] and Rangers have the better goaltending and as of yesterday's
[00:35:32] game they had the better special teams.
[00:35:34] So unless Carolina really wakes up this thing that might be
[00:35:37] over faster than seven but at least I'm giving them that.
[00:35:40] So I don't think a Carolina series against the Rangers
[00:35:47] even starts until they get down to Carolina.
[00:35:50] So I think that they have the power once they get home to
[00:35:54] just start turning this thing into like becoming a governor.
[00:35:57] You're saying they're going to be down two nothing going on?
[00:35:59] No, I'm not saying that.
[00:36:00] I'm saying I don't care what the record is until they
[00:36:03] get home prefer it not to be two nothing because I was
[00:36:05] originally going to pick Carolina in six.
[00:36:08] However now that we have the opportunity to see that
[00:36:11] they're already down by one I'm going to bump that up to seven
[00:36:14] just to give myself a little security.
[00:36:16] But I think you're right about goaltending.
[00:36:18] I don't think that's an even match at all but I think
[00:36:21] that Carolina is just going to pull it back together.
[00:36:24] I think they're the better playoff team and I think
[00:36:28] they can knock off the Rangers.
[00:36:30] So again I was going to go in six but I'll be a
[00:36:32] chicken shit now and take them in seven because I
[00:36:34] already know they lost the game.
[00:36:35] I will say one thing that I'm very curious about
[00:36:38] it's going to happen at some point and I hope it happens
[00:36:41] tomorrow.
[00:36:42] Tomorrow is game two.
[00:36:43] I'm not even sure but how are the Rangers going to
[00:36:46] react after they somebody punches them back in the
[00:36:48] fucking mouth?
[00:36:49] Absolutely.
[00:36:50] They haven't been punched in the mouth this entire
[00:36:52] playoffs and I don't mean that literally.
[00:36:54] Of course not.
[00:36:55] I mean beating them on the ice for 60 minutes
[00:36:57] and taking over a game and just getting them out of
[00:37:00] theirs it hasn't happened.
[00:37:02] How are they going to react if Carolina really does
[00:37:04] turn it on the way that they definitely can.
[00:37:07] You know the next game and just lock them down.
[00:37:10] We'll see how the Rangers do but I'm just I hope
[00:37:12] I don't think I've ever hoped I've been wrong on
[00:37:15] something more than this.
[00:37:16] I do not want the Rangers to push through to the
[00:37:19] finals even though that will probably definitely be
[00:37:22] against the Panthers who I will pick the win anyway
[00:37:25] unless Boston takes out you know half of their
[00:37:29] lineup in this series I'll take them but I
[00:37:33] don't know.
[00:37:34] Damn what do you got?
[00:37:35] I was going to go Keynes in five which I knew was a
[00:37:39] little bit more part than head there with you
[00:37:43] know if I'm going to amend it knowing that the
[00:37:45] Rangers squeaked out the first game as a win for
[00:37:48] themselves then I'm still going to stick with
[00:37:50] Keynes and six.
[00:37:51] I think the Keynes are a better team.
[00:37:53] Now I think the Rangers have been you know
[00:37:55] playing very well.
[00:37:56] I don't want to take anything away from them.
[00:37:58] I do think they have the edge of goal tending.
[00:38:01] That said I think the Keynes have way more
[00:38:03] playoff experience and they have a grittier team
[00:38:06] that can do the job and I think they'll handle
[00:38:10] the Rangers play make the Rangers play their
[00:38:12] game and when that happens I think they'll take
[00:38:16] over the series.
[00:38:17] I really do you know it's five maybe two
[00:38:21] optimistic yet.
[00:38:22] I don't think six is that crazy.
[00:38:24] I think if Caroline is going to win at all you
[00:38:26] don't want to toss up game seven you know
[00:38:30] Madison Square Garden right.
[00:38:32] That's where it would be the home.
[00:38:34] So you like you don't want that so I think
[00:38:36] that if you're going to pick Keynes at all
[00:38:38] six is as likely as anything else.
[00:38:40] So I'm going to take the Keynes and six.
[00:38:42] It's probably the least confident of my four
[00:38:47] picks if you want to know the truth and
[00:38:49] I'm picking to some extent with my heart
[00:38:52] more than my head because seriously fuck
[00:38:55] the Rangers in their pants.
[00:38:57] Seriously make me so mad dude but I can
[00:39:01] you know they're there a good freakin hockey
[00:39:03] team I just I get it.
[00:39:05] I get it.
[00:39:06] It would be the highlight just to see them
[00:39:07] knocked out in the second round like
[00:39:09] just goodbye.
[00:39:11] You know I just let me do this read and
[00:39:15] then I want to talk a little bit about
[00:39:17] coaching.

[00:40:28] I know that devils want them quick
[00:40:30] other coaches are already coming off
[00:40:32] the board and why not now.
[00:40:34] Yeah, and I also think it's a good idea
[00:40:37] to just end like a month or month and
[00:40:39] a half long speculation by the media
[00:40:41] and just spitting out articles about
[00:40:44] Mike Sullivan and Rod Brindemore and
[00:40:46] any other you know I know that he
[00:40:48] met with Todd McClellan he interviewed
[00:40:50] and as far as I know it's just been
[00:40:52] down to Beruby of McClellan and
[00:40:54] Green.
[00:40:55] So Green did have a legitimate chance
[00:40:58] I suppose I didn't really think he
[00:41:00] should have but you know how long
[00:41:03] was he with Vancouver?
[00:41:04] He was there for a few years right?
[00:41:08] I mean, I think so.
[00:41:09] He was there a while.
[00:41:11] I wonder too if like if the devils
[00:41:14] weren't didn't have a close you
[00:41:17] not offered to him and he just got
[00:41:19] the offer from the centers that was
[00:41:20] something he couldn't refuse like
[00:41:22] you know should I wait for the devils
[00:41:24] or should I just take it like I wonder
[00:41:25] how that all played out.
[00:41:26] That's true you know
[00:41:29] you know I think he probably would
[00:41:32] have you know called up and said hey
[00:41:34] Tom I got an offer here you know
[00:41:37] am I seriously in this running or
[00:41:39] should I take this thing?
[00:41:40] Yeah that would be interesting to know
[00:41:43] or did Fitz already tell him listen
[00:41:45] we're gonna go in a different
[00:41:46] direction and then within a couple
[00:41:48] days he put the other coaching
[00:41:50] right never get to those things.
[00:41:52] I'm trying to find out where his
[00:41:55] how long he coached in Vancouver.
[00:41:58] I thought he was there in the
[00:41:59] organization for a while like close
[00:42:00] to a decade in the system.
[00:42:03] Maybe in the system.
[00:42:05] I could be wrong.
[00:42:06] I think he did some head coaching
[00:42:07] like late teens to like maybe
[00:42:11] 20 or something like that.
[00:42:13] I don't know what year we got.
[00:42:14] He probably wasn't a decade.
[00:42:16] Yeah I mean he was there
[00:42:21] he was a head coach for parts of
[00:42:23] five seasons from 2017 to the
[00:42:25] 2018 started from 2017 18 season
[00:42:29] at 21 22 season he compiled
[00:42:31] the 133 147 and 34 record.
[00:42:37] He led the Canucks to the second
[00:42:39] round of the 2020 Stanley Cup
[00:42:41] playoffs after the team posted
[00:42:43] a 36 27 and 6 record in the
[00:42:46] regular season.
[00:42:47] That's cool we did so fuck
[00:42:49] that.
[00:42:50] Is a gravitational pull to
[00:42:52] mediocrity.
[00:42:53] Wow that is exactly what the
[00:42:56] senators are going to get.
[00:42:57] Come on.
[00:42:58] Was that you right there.
[00:42:59] He's a mediocre coach.
[00:43:00] What did you write that.
[00:43:03] Great stuff.
[00:43:05] The next t-shirt.
[00:43:06] I said that.
[00:43:07] That's pretty good.
[00:43:08] Yeah I just think you know
[00:43:10] he's what has he given you at
[00:43:12] least Craig Barubi's won
[00:43:13] something.
[00:43:14] I mean Mike Sullivan thing
[00:43:15] would have been kind of fun.
[00:43:16] I think he would have been
[00:43:17] pretty good but yeah I guess
[00:43:19] there was some talks that they
[00:43:21] weren't out of that route.
[00:43:22] Fuck fuck what's that.
[00:43:24] If you're an Ottawa fan you
[00:43:25] must be so bummed at this.
[00:43:27] Night this is our big move
[00:43:29] Travis green.
[00:43:30] We took the guy that the
[00:43:31] devils after firing their
[00:43:33] coach didn't want and something
[00:43:35] to say in the record.
[00:43:37] Right management can know all
[00:43:39] their hockey knowledge and
[00:43:40] why he you know checks all the
[00:43:41] boxes but the fans are
[00:43:42] probably like what's actual
[00:43:43] yeah.
[00:43:44] I just crashed and burns
[00:43:46] what's supposed to be a Stanley
[00:43:47] Cup contender.
[00:43:48] I would have liked to take
[00:43:49] who was it.
[00:43:50] Tim who had that great
[00:43:51] college coach pick.
[00:43:53] Yeah.
[00:43:54] Yeah.
[00:43:55] Yeah.
[00:43:56] A guy that would fit in go with
[00:43:57] the senators up there.
[00:43:58] Yeah I mean I would take him
[00:43:59] on our team before Travis
[00:44:00] Green that's for sure.
[00:44:01] No no Travis Green is the
[00:44:02] guy dude.
[00:44:03] That's it.
[00:44:04] The guy well sorry Ottawa
[00:44:05] guy and Mike Sullivan seems
[00:44:07] like he's being held hostage
[00:44:08] by Pittsburgh.
[00:44:09] They came out saying there's
[00:44:11] no way they're going to let
[00:44:12] him go anywhere which is
[00:44:14] still under contract which I
[00:44:15] think is bullshit.
[00:44:16] I think he's just waiting for
[00:44:17] Sheldon Keith to fire get fired
[00:44:18] from Toronto and then no fire
[00:44:20] might solve it and hire Sheldon
[00:44:21] Keith.
[00:44:22] Ah.
[00:44:23] The game'smanship.
[00:44:24] Yeah and it's bullshit because
[00:44:26] again it's these regurgitated
[00:44:28] hires over and over again.
[00:44:30] I do think that that is what
[00:44:32] this devil's team needs right
[00:44:33] now.
[00:44:34] I think the guy like
[00:44:35] Craig Barubi probably is the
[00:44:37] smarter move than somebody
[00:44:39] younger without the coaching
[00:44:40] experience but you know
[00:44:42] maybe down the road when
[00:44:43] these guys are a little
[00:44:44] bit more seasoned vets and
[00:44:46] they can lead the way a little
[00:44:48] bit more.
[00:44:49] I would love a world where they
[00:44:50] could be my head and assistant
[00:44:52] coach some kind of duo there
[00:44:54] you know with the Barubi as my
[00:44:57] head coach and then yeah
[00:44:59] take Carl as assistant.
[00:45:01] Yeah exactly.
[00:45:02] You know who knows you know
[00:45:03] that's the other thing we'll
[00:45:04] see whoever they hire brings in
[00:45:08] for assistance you know that
[00:45:09] might be interesting to see
[00:45:11] you know maybe a guy like that
[00:45:15] but you know it is still
[00:45:19] a shame every time I put games
[00:45:20] on to just watch them like
[00:45:22] without feeling anything just
[00:45:24] there's something fun about that
[00:45:26] and kind of calming that I
[00:45:28] but I miss the stress of not
[00:45:30] sitting down of just walking
[00:45:32] around the living room pacing
[00:45:33] like a fucking madman during
[00:45:35] every devil playoff game you
[00:45:37] know and like the rest of my
[00:45:39] family looking at me like
[00:45:40] I'm balancing a Buick on my dick
[00:45:42] like he's just he's just leave
[00:45:44] him alone he's an idiot and you
[00:45:46] know I get yelled at when I wake
[00:45:47] them up when they score when
[00:45:49] Dougie Hamilton scored that
[00:45:50] overtime goal and it is great
[00:45:52] where the team's in the play
[00:45:53] off with that game right then
[00:45:55] live is the most important thing
[00:45:56] in the world right?
[00:45:58] You will wake up your family
[00:45:59] for that.
[00:46:00] At that moment man that's it
[00:46:03] that goal was to you know
[00:46:04] finally we're back in this
[00:46:05] series we're not going to get
[00:46:07] embarrassed no matter what
[00:46:09] happens at that point that
[00:46:11] moment you felt good and
[00:46:13] it was awesome it was awesome
[00:46:15] and I honestly think if the
[00:46:17] right things are done this off
[00:46:19] season they're going to be right
[00:46:21] back there next year.
[00:46:22] Yep.
[00:46:23] I am just it's scary how good
[00:46:26] the Frickin Rangers are man it
[00:46:28] really does scare me.
[00:46:29] And everything's clicking for
[00:46:30] them but I don't know.
[00:46:31] I could see a Catholic they do
[00:46:33] play for the Stanley Cup.
[00:46:35] I get you a lot of people
[00:46:37] are agreeing with you you're
[00:46:38] not going to get a chance to
[00:46:40] play for the Stanley Cup.
[00:46:41] I'm so outlandish I just I
[00:46:43] think they're being a little
[00:46:44] bit overrated here.
[00:46:46] I think they have some flaws
[00:46:48] a lot of you know lack of
[00:46:50] proven people that are
[00:46:51] clicking right now but let's
[00:46:53] see how they do against you
[00:46:55] know a team that really knows
[00:46:56] its game and plays it well
[00:46:58] and if the Kings can too it
[00:46:59] right behind them you got
[00:47:00] Florida so I don't see the
[00:47:02] Rangers better than either of
[00:47:04] those teams be honest but
[00:47:05] we'll say the worst case for
[00:47:07] what Bobby to say happen
[00:47:09] right now is going to happen
[00:47:10] easier pants with the same
[00:47:12] like Boston makes it somehow
[00:47:14] upsets the Panthers just blow
[00:47:16] their load playing their best
[00:47:17] hardest hockey ever and you
[00:47:19] know Swamin is just that much
[00:47:21] better than Bobrovsky and
[00:47:23] Boston gets through in seven
[00:47:25] and meanwhile the Rangers you
[00:47:27] know have a hard fought maybe
[00:47:29] six game series with Carolina
[00:47:31] and moves on just to lose to
[00:47:33] Boston.
[00:47:34] I mean just to go and beat
[00:47:36] Boston that would that would
[00:47:38] be I don't even know if I'd
[00:47:40] given the edge over Boston I
[00:47:41] really in that scenario
[00:47:42] especially and I'm not
[00:47:44] the four teams left in the
[00:47:45] Eastern Conference and then
[00:47:46] we'll do the four teams at
[00:47:47] the bottom I put Boston close
[00:47:49] to them but above them not by
[00:47:52] a ton and then I would have
[00:47:56] Carolina and then Florida at
[00:47:58] the top.
[00:47:59] How about you Bob?
[00:48:01] I would put Carolina at the
[00:48:03] top followed by the
[00:48:04] Rangers and despite my pick
[00:48:06] followed by Florida then Boston
[00:48:08] you got almost part of it's
[00:48:10] heard huh?
[00:48:12] It's hard to do because it's
[00:48:14] just that I'm taking in my
[00:48:16] mind Carolina beat the Rangers
[00:48:18] to that.
[00:48:19] I think I think the Rangers
[00:48:21] are that good but from bottom
[00:48:23] the top I have Boston as the
[00:48:25] weakest then I'd have to at
[00:48:27] this point go with Carolina
[00:48:29] than the Rangers and the
[00:48:30] Panthers that's my
[00:48:32] so yes I am saying that I
[00:48:35] believe the Panthers are going
[00:48:36] to come out of the Eastern
[00:48:37] Conference so let's go with
[00:48:39] the Western Conference
[00:48:42] see what we picked here.
[00:48:44] So I'm not picks rather Dallas
[00:48:46] Colorado Vancouver Edmonton
[00:48:48] what do you think?
[00:48:49] Go from bottom up
[00:48:51] Rankham, Vancouver, Edmonton
[00:48:55] Colorado Dallas.
[00:48:57] That's so hard.
[00:49:00] Dude that is tough.
[00:49:02] I know.
[00:49:03] Ridiculously hard.
[00:49:04] So I'm not going first.
[00:49:06] You might have just said it.
[00:49:08] Yeah go ahead Bob.
[00:49:09] What?
[00:49:10] I mean just based on my picks
[00:49:12] before it I'd have to go
[00:49:14] Edmonton at the bottom
[00:49:16] Vancouver above them and
[00:49:18] beating them and then Colorado
[00:49:20] Dallas and I could see any
[00:49:22] one of those being footflung.
[00:49:24] I'd have to go Edmonton
[00:49:26] Vancouver Dallas, Colorado.
[00:49:28] Yeah.
[00:49:29] So I'm pretty confident that
[00:49:31] it's easy to do it this way.
[00:49:33] You're going to Colorado to top
[00:49:35] right?
[00:49:36] Yeah.
[00:49:37] So I'm close to 1996 Stanley
[00:49:39] Cup rematch.
[00:49:41] Okay.
[00:49:42] I'm going Vancouver at the
[00:49:44] bottom.
[00:49:45] Okay.
[00:49:46] Then Edmonton, then Dallas
[00:49:49] I think that's really close
[00:49:51] Edmonton and Dallas and
[00:49:53] Afts kind of stuff.
[00:49:55] Yeah.
[00:49:56] And I'm really torn between
[00:49:58] two and three there.
[00:49:59] And you had
[00:50:01] the Canes as your number one in
[00:50:03] the east?
[00:50:04] I mean before the whole damn
[00:50:06] thing.
[00:50:07] No, when you just did it.
[00:50:08] No.
[00:50:09] Florida.
[00:50:10] Florida and then the Canes.
[00:50:11] You have Florida, Colorado
[00:50:13] same as me.
[00:50:14] Yes.
[00:50:15] Okay.
[00:50:16] All right.
[00:50:17] I mean that might change once
[00:50:18] the finals are here and we
[00:50:19] see how these series come
[00:50:20] out.
[00:50:21] Yeah.
[00:50:22] We might feel that another
[00:50:23] team just is that much
[00:50:24] better.
[00:50:25] So it could change.
[00:50:26] Yeah.
[00:50:27] You have to reassess things
[00:50:28] to the players, go out, teams
[00:50:29] get hot, goalies get hot.
[00:50:30] You never know.
[00:50:31] Your top pick in the east was
[00:50:33] Carolina.
[00:50:36] Let's start a second guess this
[00:50:37] little bit.
[00:50:38] And your top pick in the west
[00:50:39] was Dallas, right?
[00:50:40] Yeah.
[00:50:41] So you got that you have a
[00:50:42] Dallas,
[00:50:43] Carolina series that that
[00:50:44] would be good.
[00:50:45] Kind of do.
[00:50:46] Yeah.
[00:50:47] I really think that would
[00:50:48] be cool.
[00:50:49] We'll see what happens with
[00:50:50] that Boston.
[00:50:51] I picked because I can see
[00:50:52] Florida getting there.
[00:50:53] But yeah.
[00:50:54] It's not bad.
[00:50:55] That's where I'm going
[00:50:56] Carolina-Dallas but
[00:50:57] Well really need to wait till the rounds over for me to recess that of course even though I disagreed with you
[00:51:03] I think like it's almost a coin flip dude. It's not a bad pick
[00:51:06] I also think that you need to own that pick like you never owned a pick before because if you're right
[00:51:11] I mean you could seriously make us look really stupid for you have some you know
[00:51:15] You have some bragging rights here, but only thing I feel really bad about is that Chris and I really want
[00:51:21] Only one on the whole show. I hate it. I don't see Boston go anywhere
[00:51:24] But if you remember last year everyone
[00:51:26] I'll just say this in your favor last year how I just kind of like went off on every reason why
[00:51:33] Florida is gonna whoop up Boston everyone did that last year when Boston except for Boston going against Florida
[00:51:39] Nobody had the Panthers one of that series. Nope. No body
[00:51:43] I think you know, I was shocked that you know
[00:51:46] They even won a game when they were ready to blow them out, you know in four and five
[00:51:50] Yeah, and now they're the favorite for the East for me, which is crazy. Yeah
[00:51:58] And they've just gotten better since last year that's the thing that's frightening and like you know
[00:52:04] There's really good, but I think Florida does what they do but with more passion
[00:52:09] Yeah
[00:52:09] Like you know, there are certain teams that just turn it on to a different level at playoff time like Florida
[00:52:15] Has that level from game one on they there's no off switch like they just keep rolling man
[00:52:21] And and if they do kick it up a notch, which they probably are gonna have to in this series that they're gonna be dangerous
[00:52:26] They just they have too many awesome guys
[00:52:30] It is getting a little late. I do want to go I wanted to go over last
[00:52:33] Next show we'll do it a bunch of free agents. I want to go over some guys
[00:52:38] UFA's guys that we still have
[00:52:41] That maybe might be leaving and a whole bunch of forwards and defensemen and goaltenders that maybe we might want to sign
[00:52:48] So that'll be a fun little exercise anything else you guys want to discuss tonight
