No Goals

The Devils give the Utah Hockey Club their 1st loss of the season. Jake Allen pitches a shut out. Sheldon Keefe has his finger squarely on the pulse of the team and the Devils are all buying in so far.

[00:00:06] Hey everyone, Mr. Devil here, Kenny Danico, three-time Stanley Cup champion of the New Jersey Devils.

[00:00:13] You're listening to the Uncle Puckers, New Jersey Devils Podcast with Chris, Dan, Bobby, and Tony, the Uncle Puckers.

[00:00:20] Let's go Devils!

[00:00:23] Hi Bob.

[00:00:25] Hey man.

[00:00:26] So how are you today?

[00:00:27] I'm in a mood.

[00:00:28] You're in a mood?

[00:00:29] And it's a good one.

[00:00:30] It should be a good one because we are about 10 minutes away from puck drop for the game against the

[00:00:36] Carolina Hurricanes and Devils are coming off a really strong game against Utah, man.

[00:00:42] That was an impressive victory.

[00:00:46] Very impressive victory.

[00:00:47] It's been a really fun 24 hours of sports.

[00:00:51] I went right from a 1 o'clock, a 1 o'clock Devils win, right?

[00:00:55] Which is rare enough.

[00:00:56] The 3-0 shutout was a beautiful thing right into the Mets second game in the LCS.

[00:01:03] They win that and I'm thinking, geez, you know, the only thing that would be really great right now is if there was more sports on Tuesday because now I'm just feeling it.

[00:01:10] I just want to watch it.

[00:01:11] And what do you know?

[00:01:12] It's a back-to-back.

[00:01:14] I don't care.

[00:01:15] Apparently Keith doesn't care either.

[00:01:17] Why?

[00:01:17] What did he say?

[00:01:19] He mentioned he was questioned about it and he says he thinks the idea of the back-to-backs is, I'm paraphrasing of course, is a little overblown.

[00:01:27] He's like, these people have been doing it their entire lives, all levels of hockey.

[00:01:31] In fact, in the younger levels, that's exactly what they do constantly.

[00:01:34] We're going to be on a club team next year and they tell us all the time with these local-ish games, you know, two, three hours that sometimes you get a night game or a morning game and a few hours in a night game.

[00:01:46] Or you might get the night game and spend the night and get the first morning.

[00:01:49] So it happens everywhere.

[00:01:50] He just thinks it's a little overblown and it's a good thought about it for sure.

[00:01:57] I think that it's easier to say that now than mid-season when you played every other day for, you know, four or five days and then you get a back-to-back and then a day off and a game and then another set of back-to-backs.

[00:02:06] So circumstances still apply.

[00:02:08] But he is right.

[00:02:09] These are professional athletes, top of the world.

[00:02:12] They should be ready.

[00:02:13] They should be conditioned.

[00:02:15] I think it's more of a storyline.

[00:02:16] And I think it's good to, that the coach is saying that.

[00:02:21] There's no excuses, you know, with this coach.

[00:02:24] And I like that.

[00:02:25] You know, he's holding the guys accountable in every way.

[00:02:28] You know, we talked a little bit on the last show about who we thought would start these two games.

[00:02:32] And you had said that.

[00:02:34] You would have played Markstrom.

[00:02:36] And I said, but this is crazy.

[00:02:41] Markstrom has faced the Hurricanes 12 times in his career.

[00:02:44] And in that span, he's got a 7-4-1 record for a 9-24 save percentage and a 2.36 goals against.

[00:02:54] So that is probably a big reason.

[00:02:58] Got good numbers.

[00:02:59] Especially when Allen against Arizona.

[00:03:04] Wait, where are those numbers?

[00:03:06] Oh, crap.

[00:03:08] Shoot.

[00:03:09] I think I lost those numbers.

[00:03:11] But he was really good against Arizona, too.

[00:03:13] So that must have played also into why he was starting yesterday.

[00:03:17] But what?

[00:03:19] And maybe if I'd have done my homework and not just had a casual conversation about it with you, maybe I would think that, too.

[00:03:23] But that's what we do.

[00:03:24] Again, I stood.

[00:03:25] Yeah.

[00:03:25] I just stood by the fact that, you know, for me, I was concerned about Utah.

[00:03:29] They had it all going for them.

[00:03:31] And, you know, it looked like a team that could come in here and do some damage.

[00:03:35] And I just wanted our best shot at beating them.

[00:03:37] In retrospect, it worked out absolutely fine.

[00:03:39] Better than fine getting the shutout.

[00:03:42] And a beautiful team effort.

[00:03:43] So now we got our, you know, quote-unquote number one for division game.

[00:03:47] So lines up great.

[00:03:47] And, you know, it's kind of who has the advantage tonight?

[00:03:50] The team that's only played the one game or the team that's played five already?

[00:03:54] I don't know.

[00:03:55] So, you know, I mean, Carolina has no excuses as far as being rested.

[00:03:59] They have to, you know, Tampa beat them the one game that they played.

[00:04:05] I think this is not, well, not I think.

[00:04:08] I know.

[00:04:08] This is not the same Carolina Hurricane team that we have seen.

[00:04:12] They're not built that way.

[00:04:13] I think that this is going to be an extension of yesterday's game.

[00:04:18] And I think the Devils are going to roll.

[00:04:20] And I loved how they played yesterday.

[00:04:22] You know, they did what they did to Utah, what teams did to us all last year.

[00:04:30] They were physical with them.

[00:04:32] They didn't give their little, fast, high-flying forwards any ice.

[00:04:38] I mean, what'd they have?

[00:04:39] 20 shots on goal?

[00:04:41] And I think, what, six shots in the first and eight or nine in the second or something?

[00:04:46] I mean, they got their lion's share of shots on the goal in the third.

[00:04:49] But, I mean, those first two periods, Devils locked it down.

[00:04:53] I mean, it was really, just a really strong game all the way around.

[00:04:56] Against a team, like you said, that was on fire.

[00:04:59] You know, they were undefeated.

[00:05:01] Yeah.

[00:05:01] So.

[00:05:01] They had no reason to think they weren't going to come in here and win this game.

[00:05:05] I mean, as any team should think they're going to win any game.

[00:05:08] But it was.

[00:05:08] It was one of those games where it started off good and got gooder as it went.

[00:05:13] You know what I mean?

[00:05:13] It did get gooder.

[00:05:13] By the third period, they definitely got gooder.

[00:05:16] They were just looking super crisp.

[00:05:19] Like, everything was exact.

[00:05:20] You know, tape to tape.

[00:05:21] Beautiful plays.

[00:05:22] I mean, Casey, he just looks like he's been in a league for years.

[00:05:25] Like, he's.

[00:05:26] Like, I know everybody's singing his praise because the points are coming.

[00:05:30] I don't know if the points are going to stop coming, is my thing.

[00:05:33] Like, I don't know where we go with this guy.

[00:05:34] That second goal was an absolute beauty.

[00:05:38] The one from Nason, too.

[00:05:40] Like, he helped set that up so perfectly.

[00:05:43] Saw Lane, took it.

[00:05:44] It winds up going, and then Nason gets a Nason goal.

[00:05:46] You know, it was a beautiful thing.

[00:05:48] The entirety of his goal.

[00:05:50] Being able to keep the puck in the zone.

[00:05:52] Get that pass off to Heischer.

[00:05:54] Find the open ice.

[00:05:55] And then just rip a beautiful shot.

[00:05:57] Like, that's hockey smarts.

[00:05:59] That's hockey smarts that you don't get from a rookie.

[00:06:02] And not only do you usually not get it from a rookie, you're usually not going to get it from a rookie defenseman.

[00:06:06] But we didn't see Jack Luke Hughes or Shimon Nemich making plays like this last year.

[00:06:13] And this kid is making them.

[00:06:16] And like you said, he doesn't look like he's going to slow down.

[00:06:18] I mean, he looks like he just fits in this system perfectly.

[00:06:22] He's making them in a game where the Hurricanes just – they were completely clogging up everything.

[00:06:29] They were in every lane.

[00:06:32] I'm sorry, Utah.

[00:06:33] Yeah, yes.

[00:06:34] They were in every lane.

[00:06:35] They were, you know, diverting shots.

[00:06:37] It didn't look like the Devils had much to go for.

[00:06:41] He broke through like they weren't even playing.

[00:06:43] I completely agree.

[00:06:44] You know, it's crazy.

[00:06:45] That was – it was a tough game from that standpoint.

[00:06:47] I remember in the beginning, the Devils were having a hard time finding lanes.

[00:06:50] And I guess at that point, you know, simplify your game or just be Casey.

[00:06:55] I just – I love how – you know, you could throw away that Toronto game.

[00:06:59] There was a lot of – a lot of things kind of going against – let me just put it this way.

[00:07:04] There were a lot of – you could make a lot of excuses for that game, okay?

[00:07:07] You can talk about the Prague trip, talk about it being against Sheldon Keeves' whole team and first home game and all the other shit.

[00:07:13] So all that stuff, you know, could have been attributed to the loss, the flat play.

[00:07:19] But if you take that game out and you look at games one, two, four, and five, they've gotten better and better and better and better and better, which is exactly the trajectory you want to go.

[00:07:32] I think they – I really think this team is just the tip of the iceberg of what they can do.

[00:07:39] And they're – this is a really good hockey team, man.

[00:07:43] Well, what are we seeing now?

[00:07:45] The chart is going north on our main guys too.

[00:07:49] They're heating up little by little, coming around, got a couple power play or at least a one power play goal.

[00:07:53] And you could see them all starting to come together.

[00:07:56] And I mean that's just great.

[00:07:58] That's just scary.

[00:07:58] I mean I got to ask you though.

[00:08:01] I love the move of Nason going to the first power play unit.

[00:08:07] I just thought, you know, yeah, we barked forever to Lindy Ruff that that spot should be Timo Myers.

[00:08:17] Sure.

[00:08:18] But we didn't have a guy that can do what Nason does.

[00:08:21] And the first power play they put him there, you had some great scoring chances.

[00:08:25] He gets in front of the net.

[00:08:27] He knows – like he knows his role and he does it as good as anybody.

[00:08:34] You know, he can – yeah, he has hands.

[00:08:36] He can give you a pretty goal, but that's not his bread and butter.

[00:08:39] His bread and butter is camping out, being a tough guy in front of the paint, and scoring you dirty, greasy goals.

[00:08:44] And that's what we need on that power play.

[00:08:46] And you saw it, you know, right away.

[00:08:48] It was like – it seems like, okay, moving Cotter up, Palat down.

[00:08:52] All right, well, you know, we're not huge giant fans of Palat right now.

[00:08:56] He hasn't really fit in.

[00:08:57] Kind of get it.

[00:08:58] And what happens?

[00:08:58] That line just tears it up against Washington, right?

[00:09:01] Cotter has his two goals.

[00:09:02] And then moving Meyer off the first power play unit and putting Nason in there.

[00:09:07] You saw, you know, rewarded for that right away.

[00:09:11] Sheldon Keefe has a pulse on this team right now.

[00:09:14] He is really – you know, every switch that he's pushing here or button – you push switches?

[00:09:22] No, you push buttons and you flip switches.

[00:09:24] You can push a switch.

[00:09:25] But it's not going to do anything.

[00:09:27] It's just awkward looking.

[00:09:27] Like you can't push the switch.

[00:09:28] If you have a light switch, you start pushing.

[00:09:30] If you kind of push it from an up angle, like you might turn it on.

[00:09:32] I'm going to say pushing the buttons.

[00:09:34] He's pushing all the right buttons.

[00:09:36] So –

[00:09:37] Yes.

[00:09:37] He's flipping all the right buttons, I should say.

[00:09:41] He's flipping all the right buttons.

[00:09:41] He's doing a good job and the team's responding, which is nice because you haven't –

[00:09:45] And here's the thing.

[00:09:47] Look, Timo – like more than anything, we wanted Timo Meyer to be playing as a top six wing as he's supposed to be.

[00:09:51] When you're talking about power play, I know that, you know, power play one gets maybe the majority of the time

[00:09:57] and it's maybe seen as where you want to aspire to be.

[00:10:00] But the reality is if you can create two power play units that have all the functions that you want in each power play unit.

[00:10:07] So it's not like you're sacrificing Meyer putting him on the second power play unit because you're bringing a different element to the first,

[00:10:14] which may work because, you know, you can only have so much flash on a power play, right?

[00:10:18] And a little grit, not all flash.

[00:10:19] Now you've got him reserved for the second power play and he's still good enough to switch in and out at any time.

[00:10:25] People just be like, you know what?

[00:10:27] Meyer's feeling it today.

[00:10:27] He's going on PP1.

[00:10:29] We'll figure it out.

[00:10:30] I don't have a problem with that.

[00:10:31] I don't really view – I mean some teams have a hard – like a steadfast one and two, you know,

[00:10:37] and you can tell there's a dramatic difference in the quality.

[00:10:41] I don't think ours should be like that.

[00:10:43] And I've seen ours sometimes where I'm like, it's so much razzle-dazzle.

[00:10:47] I'm like, just put the second unit out, please.

[00:10:49] Like let's go.

[00:10:50] And what do they usually get?

[00:10:51] 15 seconds less?

[00:10:52] Like the first goes a minute and 15, the second goes 45?

[00:10:55] Usually, yeah, around there depending, of course, of play stoppages and whatnot.

[00:11:00] Another thing that we saw a little bit of last year, especially more towards later in the year,

[00:11:04] and I don't know if this was – I know Lindy did it a little bit.

[00:11:07] I think that Travis Green did a little more was having Jesper Bratt on the PK.

[00:11:13] And so now he's on that penalty kill unit, every penalty kill, which our penalty – PK looks outstanding.

[00:11:22] Jesper Bratt, I love the fact that we just – okay, Meyer, Hughes, you're not going to play the PK.

[00:11:28] You're going to play the power play.

[00:11:29] Bratt goes out there at PK.

[00:11:30] You move Cotter right into that spot because he goes out with that shift right after.

[00:11:34] Right after the penalty kill, he's putting Brad out there.

[00:11:37] I mean, he's putting Hughes out there with Meyer and Cotter, and Cotter fits right in.

[00:11:42] It's like this guy is a fucking Swiss Army knife that we needed for so many years.

[00:11:48] He's –

[00:11:48] He can play anywhere.

[00:11:50] I loved it.

[00:11:50] Like literally, he's awesome.

[00:11:52] This – I can – I'm so excited about this team because now it seems like yesterday was kind of like they went to work.

[00:11:58] They did their job.

[00:11:59] They put their boots on.

[00:12:00] They got the job done, and they just went home.

[00:12:03] It was like there was no fuss, no flash, no nothing.

[00:12:06] They went in 60 minutes, played hard, and left, and I liked it.

[00:12:09] It was businesslike, and it was like we're the better team.

[00:12:12] We know we're the better team, and we're going to show you we're the better team, and I like that.

[00:12:17] Yeah.

[00:12:17] I mean, it had all the makings of a quote-unquote upset.

[00:12:21] Utah coming out.

[00:12:22] They're still undefeated.

[00:12:23] They beat our other two rivals.

[00:12:25] They're going to clean sweep us over here in the East, and the devil's played anybody hot yet, right?

[00:12:31] I've heard some talk about like the only team you played that was good, you lost two.

[00:12:36] You know, I beg to differ on that.

[00:12:38] First of all, I think that Buffalo really came around in the second game, and they had at least a solid foundation.

[00:12:42] I think Utah is for real.

[00:12:45] I mean, you pointed that out months ago.

[00:12:47] I think they're for real.

[00:12:48] I think they're a great team.

[00:12:49] But again, the Devils are just getting started.

[00:12:51] They have two of their top defensive stalwarts not even playing.

[00:12:53] Their top offensive guys are just starting to warm up.

[00:12:56] Yeah.

[00:12:57] And we're – only got one loss.

[00:12:59] They're going to be there.

[00:13:00] They're going to be there.

[00:13:01] And, you know, what are you looking for tonight against the Hurricanes?

[00:13:05] I want more of the same.

[00:13:06] I want – I want them to go after them.

[00:13:09] Like, I want them to take this game.

[00:13:11] This is their game.

[00:13:12] You know, just the attitude about it.

[00:13:14] Kind of like they've been playing.

[00:13:15] Just this is what we're going to do now.

[00:13:17] You know, we are a better team than you.

[00:13:18] We now expect to beat the teams that we're supposed to beat.

[00:13:22] It's always going to happen when you're going to lose a game or two here and there.

[00:13:25] But I feel like they're going to put their mark on this game.

[00:13:27] And they can do that in different ways now.

[00:13:29] Yeah.

[00:13:30] They can do that by running you – running up the score.

[00:13:32] They can do it by getting tough with you.

[00:13:34] They could do – we haven't even seen them have the need to really, really stamp it down on defense.

[00:13:40] I mean, if they – if it's any different than their just – their way that they played in general yesterday, I mean, it's going to be – they're going to be a tough defensive team.

[00:13:49] And, you know, you got the Canes.

[00:13:50] This is their home opener.

[00:13:53] And I love that we ruined Washington's home opener.

[00:13:56] You know, no, fuck Toronto.

[00:13:57] They ruined ours.

[00:13:58] And we all want to ruin as many home openers as we can.

[00:14:01] So go down to – I mean, look, I think on paper and what I saw just in that first game against Tampa, New Jersey is a far better team.

[00:14:10] Now that –

[00:14:11] Well, yeah, and you mentioned it in your preview show.

[00:14:13] I mean, there's only one sample size to go with here.

[00:14:16] So Carolina is going to lean on their experience playing the Devils and how well they've played them.

[00:14:20] And I'm sure to a man in that locker room, it kind of feels like they think they could take us.

[00:14:26] It probably does.

[00:14:26] And I think the Devils should be pissed and want to get some revenge for not doing well against them.

[00:14:32] Especially the teams last year that pushed us around and really embarrassed us.

[00:14:37] You know, like the Rangers and the Hurricanes, specifically those two.

[00:14:41] Like these are the games that you've got to give it back now.

[00:14:44] You've got to just show them that last year's team is not this year's team.

[00:14:47] And you've got to –

[00:14:48] I can't wait to see Nason play against them because, again, he was a devil first.

[00:14:55] Every time we played them and he played against us, I just feel like he was that thorn.

[00:14:59] He was scoring goals.

[00:15:00] He was making plays.

[00:15:02] And now he's going to do the same thing against them.

[00:15:04] Not that he's got any animosity against them, but you know you're amped up to play former teams.

[00:15:10] You always are.

[00:15:11] Now, do we have any timeline on Brett Pesci?

[00:15:16] Because, like, I heard two weeks ago that he might be ready for the home opener against Toronto.

[00:15:22] And now he's still week to week.

[00:15:24] Is that just it now?

[00:15:25] There's no –

[00:15:26] I mean, I guess with the way they're playing, we're not going to rush them back.

[00:15:30] You know, I mean, I get that.

[00:15:31] Tom probably doesn't want to make the decision.

[00:15:34] So he's like, you just keep skating.

[00:15:35] I just –

[00:15:35] We're going to figure this out.

[00:15:36] I thought maybe this game might be one he would be trying to get back for, you know, go up against –

[00:15:41] I think they're definitely not going to rush him yet, of course.

[00:15:44] But he's skating with the team, so who knows?

[00:15:46] It's a bizarre situation.

[00:15:49] He'll be back.

[00:15:49] Oh, yeah.

[00:15:50] One thing on that Washington game real quick, because we talked about Washington and who they are, right?

[00:15:56] We said, are they really trying to take another kick at the can?

[00:15:59] Are they just trying to feed Ovechkin?

[00:16:01] What's going on?

[00:16:03] Ovechkin without a shot against us.

[00:16:06] And I just feel like – I don't know, man.

[00:16:10] I feel like he's just kind of pushing the envelope.

[00:16:12] I'm starting to get the feeling that it is only going to be about Ovechkin.

[00:16:16] I don't know why.

[00:16:17] It just seems like he doesn't have much in the tank.

[00:16:19] I feel like he could fall off real quick.

[00:16:21] The guys played –

[00:16:22] I know he still scored a lot last year.

[00:16:23] The guys played left wing his entire career, and tonight's the first night they're starting him at right wing.

[00:16:28] They're changing his damn position.

[00:16:29] Are they?

[00:16:30] So now they're putting Ovechkin to the right wing.

[00:16:33] Okay, whatever.

[00:16:35] I mean I don't – the guy is arguably the greatest goal scorer in the history of our sport.

[00:16:42] Particularly from that one exact spot.

[00:16:44] Like nobody can do what he does.

[00:16:46] But I do think Washington has a lot of holes.

[00:16:49] I don't think – I said that.

[00:16:51] I had them, I think, figure – I had them finishing last in the Metro when we did our predictions.

[00:16:56] Even over Columbus.

[00:16:57] Now, I have to preface this by saying this was before Columbus had their string of tragedies.

[00:17:04] And not just talking about number 13.

[00:17:07] Now, boom, Jenner being out.

[00:17:08] And so I think Columbus, if they don't end up dead last in that division, it's just going to be because of will and good coaching.

[00:17:17] And, you know, but –

[00:17:20] They got a hard road.

[00:17:21] Yeah, it's –

[00:17:22] I feel bad for them.

[00:17:23] It's taking them so long to go north.

[00:17:25] And then, you know, Johnny was a fantastic hockey player, and they still couldn't really put it together with him.

[00:17:30] And you can't replace that.

[00:17:32] I feel –

[00:17:32] And it's just going to be – I think it's going to be a long road for them.

[00:17:34] It does kind of suck.

[00:17:35] I feel bad for them.

[00:17:35] We bust their balls.

[00:17:37] But, yeah, it's kind of awful.

[00:17:38] I want to actually go over a couple of other things with you around the NHL.

[00:17:43] But before we do, give a little shout-out to some of our Hockey Podcast Network sponsors here, like the Quest for the Stanley Cup starts now and the Puck dropping on the 24-25 season.

[00:19:52] Like, there was tickets for the next Devils game, like a $17.

[00:19:55] Really?

[00:19:56] There literally was.

[00:19:57] Yeah, there was.

[00:19:58] And again, with their all-in pricing feature, you know exactly what the prices are going to be up front.

[00:20:33] What time is it?

[00:20:35] It's GameTime.

[00:20:36] GameTime, baby.

[00:20:38] Baby.

[00:20:38] They didn't put baby.

[00:20:39] They should put baby.

[00:20:40] It's definitely baby.

[00:20:41] GameTime, baby.

[00:20:42] All right.

[00:20:43] So let's do a little around the league.

[00:20:49] The Edmonton Oilers are 0-3-0.

[00:20:54] They have not won a game.

[00:20:56] They have scored three goals, and they have given up 15.

[00:21:02] Okay.

[00:21:04] I know what they need to do.

[00:21:05] What's that?

[00:21:06] I know what they need to do.

[00:21:07] What do they need to do?

[00:21:09] Fire the coach and win the stand cut.

[00:21:10] Well, you know they're not firing Knobloch.

[00:21:15] All right.

[00:21:16] So, all right.

[00:21:17] Now, are you worried about them?

[00:21:19] Or are you more worried about?

[00:21:21] I'm going to give you three teams, okay?

[00:21:24] Which team concerns you the most?

[00:21:25] I just told you where the Edmonton Oilers were, and now we're going to go and see where this team is.

[00:21:34] All right.

[00:21:35] The Colorado Avalanche are 0-3-0, have no points.

[00:21:40] They have scored 10 and have given up 20 goals.

[00:21:46] Yeah.

[00:21:47] Their goaltending, Gagorgiev, has been atrocious.

[00:21:50] I do believe they just picked up Kapokako off of Wavers.

[00:21:56] But if you go and look at Gagorgiev's numbers.

[00:22:01] So, they had Justus Anunin.

[00:22:05] He played two games.

[00:22:08] And Gagorgiev has played three.

[00:22:11] I believe that he was pulled from two of those three games.

[00:22:15] Gagorgiev has a save percentage of 790 with a 6.58 goals against average.

[00:22:25] Dude.

[00:22:26] The other dude is 7.

[00:22:28] He's calling up Vanacek and being like, yo, how do I get out of Colorado?

[00:22:32] He's like, let in the goals.

[00:22:32] These numbers make Vanacek look like a fucking Vezna winner.

[00:22:37] It sure does.

[00:22:38] Anunin has a 0.765 save percentage and a 4.69 goals against.

[00:22:45] Now, do you think Miles Woods is bitching about, I'm tired of losing?

[00:22:50] Are you still tired of losing there, Miles?

[00:22:53] Before I go into...

[00:22:54] I admired when he said that.

[00:22:56] And now the third team.

[00:22:58] Well, before I get to them, I just want to go through the...

[00:23:02] So, Calvin Pickard and Stuart Skinner, both for Edmonton, have played two games.

[00:23:07] I guess...

[00:23:08] I haven't watched them all.

[00:23:09] So, I guess they've gotten pulled.

[00:23:12] So, Stuart Skinner's save percentage is 0.805 with a 5.4 goals against.

[00:23:21] And this, I...

[00:23:23] This doesn't sound real.

[00:23:24] Right.

[00:23:24] I mean, this is bad.

[00:23:26] This is really bad.

[00:23:27] And Calvin...

[00:23:28] Do you know who they played?

[00:23:30] Do you have that right in front of you?

[00:23:31] I don't want you to look it up.

[00:23:31] No, no, no.

[00:23:32] They played...

[00:23:32] I don't know.

[00:23:33] Edmonton played Calgary.

[00:23:37] They played...

[00:23:38] They played Philly tonight.

[00:23:40] I know that.

[00:23:43] Winnipeg...

[00:23:43] Let's hope they get their first win.

[00:23:44] So, Winnipeg, they lost 6-0.

[00:23:47] Yeah, I remember that.

[00:23:48] Then they lost 5-2 to Chicago.

[00:23:49] And they lost 4-1 to Calgary.

[00:23:53] Oh.

[00:23:54] Yeah.

[00:23:55] Wow.

[00:23:56] Okay, I'll give them the pass on the Winnipeg game.

[00:23:58] After that, that's a little concerning.

[00:24:01] And now, maybe this one's not so much to worry about.

[00:24:05] But...

[00:24:05] The Nashville Predators are 0-2-0.

[00:24:10] They have...

[00:24:11] Let's see.

[00:24:12] Now, they've only played the two games.

[00:24:13] So, I get it.

[00:24:14] That's not that big of a deal.

[00:24:15] They've allowed three goals.

[00:24:17] I mean, they've scored three goals.

[00:24:18] They allowed seven.

[00:24:19] That's two games.

[00:24:21] I don't think that we can really get three for...

[00:24:23] So, I'm going to take Nashville.

[00:24:24] We'll throw them out.

[00:24:25] So, Colorado Avalanche.

[00:24:28] Edmonton Oilers.

[00:24:30] Well, who did the Avalanche play?

[00:24:31] Do you have that?

[00:24:32] I'll find out.

[00:24:34] Because 10 goals 4-20 against is bad.

[00:24:38] I think they played the Islanders last night.

[00:24:40] I know the Islanders put up six against them.

[00:24:43] Okay.

[00:24:44] So, let's see.

[00:24:45] Who did the Avs play?

[00:24:47] So, they have played...

[00:24:49] Come on.

[00:24:50] What does crap?

[00:24:52] All right.

[00:24:54] So, the Vegas Golden Knights, they lost 8-4.

[00:24:59] The Columbus Blue Jackets beat them 6-4.

[00:25:02] And the Islanders beat them 6-2.

[00:25:05] So, they haven't had a game where they have allowed less than six goals.

[00:25:10] Oh, geez.

[00:25:11] Which team are you more worried about?

[00:25:15] All right.

[00:25:15] So, shocking to me that the Oil lost to those three teams.

[00:25:20] Calgary, Winnipeg, and Chicago.

[00:25:23] I guess equally shocking for the Avs.

[00:25:27] Well, Columbus and the Islanders are a little better.

[00:25:31] But the Islanders don't score six goals ever.

[00:25:34] Yeah, I know.

[00:25:35] Oh, they don't.

[00:25:36] I know.

[00:25:36] I think that the Oilers lost more to lesser teams.

[00:25:42] But overall, I would say I'd be more concerned about the Avs.

[00:25:46] I agree.

[00:25:48] Their goaltending is a big problem.

[00:25:51] And Gorgiev had, like...

[00:25:53] I know he led the league in wins last year.

[00:25:56] But his numbers were god-awful.

[00:25:59] Let me go to his last year numbers and look at this real quick.

[00:26:06] All right.

[00:26:07] So, go back a year.

[00:26:09] Give me a sec here.

[00:26:11] Yeah.

[00:26:13] Take your time, Shane.

[00:26:14] All right.

[00:26:14] So, Alexander Gorgiev, last year, he...

[00:26:22] That's...

[00:26:22] I want last year.

[00:26:23] God damn this thing.

[00:26:24] Okay.

[00:26:26] Played...

[00:26:27] He played...

[00:26:27] He won 38 games last year.

[00:26:31] He had a save percentage of 897, a goals against of 302.

[00:26:37] He played 63 games.

[00:26:40] He won 38.

[00:26:40] He led the league in wins last year.

[00:26:44] But, again, his numbers...

[00:26:46] Backed by offense.

[00:26:47] Backed by offense.

[00:26:48] And this year, he's looking even worse.

[00:26:51] I think he got pulled...

[00:26:52] 302.

[00:26:52] From the first two games he played.

[00:26:55] I'm more worried about if I was an Avalanche fan.

[00:26:58] Because it's because they don't really have depth.

[00:27:01] They have...

[00:27:02] You know, if you watch the game...

[00:27:03] I watched a little bit of that Islander game yesterday.

[00:27:05] It really looked like...

[00:27:08] This wasn't the Avalanche team we're used to.

[00:27:11] I mean, they weren't skating.

[00:27:13] Their defense was terrible.

[00:27:14] It was really bad.

[00:27:16] But at the same time, I'm...

[00:27:18] If I was an Edmonton fan, I would be super worried right now.

[00:27:22] You have lost all three games at home.

[00:27:26] And this is your fourth game at home before you go on the road.

[00:27:29] And all you guys did was tell us all summer long how you're going to be ready.

[00:27:34] And you're not...

[00:27:35] You know, this game seven is just a crawl on your ass.

[00:27:38] And you're going to come out.

[00:27:39] And you're going to take the league by storm.

[00:27:40] And we all believed it.

[00:27:42] I don't know.

[00:27:43] They get into a similar hole that they got into last year.

[00:27:46] They're not getting out of it.

[00:27:48] And they still had to go on after last year's rough start.

[00:27:51] A 16-game winning streak and then an 8-game winning streak at the end of the year just to make the playoffs.

[00:27:57] Yeah.

[00:27:59] I would be...

[00:28:01] Like, I'm shocked, really, at the narrative to that.

[00:28:03] Because you came within one game...

[00:28:05] Less than one game, really, of winning a Stanley Cup.

[00:28:08] ...warned up.

[00:28:09] If you don't...

[00:28:09] Fungle.

[00:28:10] If you don't come out, like, now, that doesn't make any sense to me.

[00:28:14] You don't need to be warmed up.

[00:28:15] You played late.

[00:28:16] Like, you should be ready to go.

[00:28:18] And you should be super hungry to go.

[00:28:19] So, yeah, in that regard...

[00:28:20] I mean, if I was a fan, I'd be pissed.

[00:28:22] I'd be more pissed than worried.

[00:28:24] Because I feel like this is more about effort.

[00:28:26] That's kind of what it looks like.

[00:28:27] And goaltending.

[00:28:28] Like, I was never sold on Stuart Skinner as a number one.

[00:28:32] I never was.

[00:28:33] I thought Skinner will give you some good games.

[00:28:35] But he's going to give you a lot of clunkers in there.

[00:28:37] You do not think of him as a number one.

[00:28:39] Like, if someone tells you, name, you know, half the number one goalies in the league,

[00:28:42] you probably won't even think...

[00:28:43] And he got hot last year in the playoffs.

[00:28:45] After kind of a shaky start, you know?

[00:28:47] In that first series against LA, he was a little bit shaky.

[00:28:50] And then he got hot.

[00:28:51] The whole team got hot.

[00:28:52] We all know what happened.

[00:28:55] But Edmonton is everybody's sexy pick to win the Cup.

[00:28:59] Of course.

[00:28:59] I thought that they would not make it back to the...

[00:29:02] Until I watched that inside the NHL thing on Prime, where I just was like,

[00:29:09] Connor McDavid is going to be coming back this year like a man possessed.

[00:29:13] And he's not.

[00:29:14] And, you know, they just locked up dry saddle.

[00:29:17] Like, they have...

[00:29:19] Like, their pieces are there, man.

[00:29:20] Like, if you don't turn this thing around, it's a tough division they're in.

[00:29:25] But, you know, you're going to...

[00:29:26] I don't know, man.

[00:29:28] I mean...

[00:29:28] Go ahead.

[00:29:30] Not really...

[00:29:31] I'm not really worried about him.

[00:29:32] I don't think it's going to be an issue for the year.

[00:29:35] But I don't...

[00:29:37] I don't understand it.

[00:29:39] Like, I don't understand the mentality.

[00:29:42] How you...

[00:29:43] I mean, everybody...

[00:29:44] You know, a game, a period, a shift, blah, blah, blah.

[00:29:46] I get it.

[00:29:46] But three now is a pattern.

[00:29:50] And you just...

[00:29:51] There's...

[00:29:52] You know, playoff baseball has reminded me...

[00:29:56] About that next level and that buy-in that you need.

[00:30:00] Which we see in hockey all the time, too.

[00:30:03] Where, like, the situational baseball.

[00:30:06] And not being bigger than the moment.

[00:30:07] And, like...

[00:30:08] You know, my dude got a grand slam yesterday.

[00:30:10] But he wasn't looking to crush the ball.

[00:30:12] He was looking to put it deep.

[00:30:13] Put it in play.

[00:30:13] Find a gap.

[00:30:14] Like, good swings because he's taking his time.

[00:30:17] But throughout the lineup, the whole team is doing this.

[00:30:21] And hockey, we see that, too.

[00:30:23] It's the same kind of thing.

[00:30:24] You just...

[00:30:25] You gotta fully buy-in.

[00:30:27] So, something's happening with the buy-in.

[00:30:29] They're already not playing to a level that we know they can play.

[00:30:34] They should be a top-four team in the league.

[00:30:36] Without a doubt.

[00:30:37] I mean, this is...

[00:30:38] Alright, so if they drop tonight.

[00:30:40] And they lose their first four games at home.

[00:30:43] And they lose tonight to Philadelphia.

[00:30:45] Now you're 0-4.

[00:30:48] Where...

[00:30:48] Let's take a look at the rest of the division.

[00:30:53] Before we go crazy.

[00:30:54] Let's see.

[00:30:56] Ah, da-da-da-da-do.

[00:30:58] Sorry.

[00:30:58] I should have probably had these things, you know.

[00:31:01] Ready.

[00:31:01] You know.

[00:31:04] We were doing our second jobs throughout the day.

[00:31:08] In preparation for the first job.

[00:31:09] We just ran out of time.

[00:31:10] Hey, look who's first place in the Metropolitan Division there.

[00:31:13] That's pretty awesome.

[00:31:14] Wow.

[00:31:14] Yes.

[00:31:16] I like that look.

[00:31:17] Alright.

[00:31:17] And let's see.

[00:31:18] The Colorado Avalanche are dead last right now in the Central Division.

[00:31:23] The Stars are 3-0.

[00:31:24] The Jets are 3-0.

[00:31:26] Utah's 3-1.

[00:31:29] And the Edmonton Oilers are dead last in the Pacific Division.

[00:31:32] The Golden Knights are 3-0.

[00:31:34] And the Flames are also 3-0.

[00:31:37] And, you know, the Kings are 1-0.

[00:31:38] So there's...

[00:31:39] The rest of that...

[00:31:40] The bottom of that division.

[00:31:42] You got the Kings are 1-0.

[00:31:43] The Ducks are 1-1.

[00:31:45] The Canucks are...

[00:31:48] Oh, 0-2.

[00:31:50] Jesus.

[00:31:50] The Kraken are 1-2.

[00:31:52] The Sharks are 0-1.

[00:31:53] And the Oilers are 0-3.

[00:31:55] So there's plenty of time to make up a shitload of space.

[00:31:58] So I see Edmonton.

[00:32:00] Yeah, you're right.

[00:32:01] They can turn this thing on at any point.

[00:32:03] Because other than the Knights and the Flames, everybody else is right around there.

[00:32:07] It's been a weird start to the year.

[00:32:09] It has been.

[00:32:09] But the Avalanche?

[00:32:11] I don't know.

[00:32:13] At this point, the way I'm seeing them playing, this is going to be a long year for them.

[00:32:18] Right.

[00:32:18] And I thought that Utah would maybe take LA's wildcard spot this year.

[00:32:24] Now Utah might take the third seed if it's not the Avalanche.

[00:32:30] I mean, I know it's recklessly speculating.

[00:32:33] Way too early.

[00:32:34] It is.

[00:32:35] It is.

[00:32:36] But, yeah.

[00:32:38] It's just an ugly pattern.

[00:32:39] I'd be really pissed off, too.

[00:32:40] I love seeing it, though.

[00:32:42] I love watching Edmonton lose.

[00:32:44] I do.

[00:32:46] It makes me happy.

[00:32:48] And it's not because I don't like Connor McDavid or Dreissel.

[00:32:52] I like them fine.

[00:32:53] I love watching them, I think.

[00:32:55] But all the hype for so many years.

[00:32:59] And, you know, this year was it was a foregone conclusion that Edmonton is just going to do

[00:33:05] what Florida did last year, losing the final, come back and win it the next year.

[00:33:10] No, I don't think that's happening.

[00:33:11] I'm looking at this entire league.

[00:33:13] There are a lot of good hockey teams that I think, even when Edmonton is playing at their

[00:33:19] best, are not as good as some of these teams.

[00:33:22] Dallas looks fantastic already.

[00:33:24] Winnipeg looks fantastic.

[00:33:26] And that's just in the East, the Golden Knights.

[00:33:29] Everybody had them written off.

[00:33:30] I don't understand that.

[00:33:32] Why would you have the Golden Knights written off?

[00:33:34] You know, they know what the hell they're doing.

[00:33:35] They're well coached.

[00:33:36] They've been there before.

[00:33:38] Calgary surprises me at three.

[00:33:39] You know, I'll give you that.

[00:33:42] Yeah.

[00:33:42] You know, but it's been really fun this first couple of weeks or first week, really.

[00:33:47] It's been a lot of fun.

[00:33:49] I think maybe us being four and one also helps that fact.

[00:33:53] Oh, 100 percent.

[00:33:55] Because, you know, I mean, already we have like the opposite of what we're talking about.

[00:33:59] You know, don't call it a cushion because it's only like three wins again, you know, over

[00:34:02] the NHL 500.

[00:34:04] But it is.

[00:34:04] I mean, it's a start already.

[00:34:06] We're on top.

[00:34:12] It's ahead of the Rangers, but we also have two games in hand.

[00:34:16] So, you know, that's the only thing I don't like about how I always like having the games

[00:34:21] in hand.

[00:34:22] I don't like being the team that has played more and you're kind of watching other teams

[00:34:27] and hoping they don't catch up.

[00:34:29] I don't like that.

[00:34:30] Yeah.

[00:34:30] But usually when we have those games in hand, we want them because it's a reason and we're

[00:34:34] far behind and we're assuming we're going to win those.

[00:34:37] So I'd rather just stay up top.

[00:34:38] Yeah.

[00:34:39] The whole way here.

[00:34:40] Yeah.

[00:34:40] You know, let's just do that.

[00:34:41] When is our first game against the Rangers?

[00:34:44] Because that is going to be super exciting.

[00:34:47] Do you happen to know off the top of your head?

[00:34:50] I can pull it up right now.

[00:34:51] Hey, how about this?

[00:34:53] The New Jersey Devils, this will be forever in etched in NHL history books.

[00:35:00] The New Jersey Devils gave the Utah Hockey Club their first ever loss and in the same breath

[00:35:07] gave them their first ever shutout loss.

[00:35:11] Yes.

[00:35:12] Yes.

[00:35:12] It's awesome.

[00:35:14] I believe we're going into December.

[00:35:17] December 2nd is the first game.

[00:35:19] It's a Monday night at Madison Square Garbage.

[00:35:24] So yeah, we got to wait a little bit for that.

[00:35:26] Hopefully they'll be floundering around.

[00:35:28] Probably not.

[00:35:29] They're actually still.

[00:35:30] Yeah, they're a very good team.

[00:35:31] And you know, they're starting out.

[00:35:35] I mean, Panarin, I think, has been super hot, right?

[00:35:37] He's got a whole bunch of assists already.

[00:35:39] And I think he's got points in every game.

[00:35:41] And you know, Sheserkin had the clunker maybe against Utah.

[00:35:47] But you know, he's going to be fine.

[00:35:48] They looked really good last night against Detroit.

[00:35:51] Yeah.

[00:35:52] I mean, Panarin looks really good again.

[00:35:54] What do you make?

[00:35:54] What do you make of that 8-7 Edmonton King game?

[00:35:59] Oh my God.

[00:36:00] Senator King game like yesterday.

[00:36:02] Did you catch that at all?

[00:36:03] I did not.

[00:36:05] I was full on baseball mode.

[00:36:07] It took longer than I thought because, you know, it's playoff baseball.

[00:36:09] Ottawa won 8-7 in overtime.

[00:36:13] It was an absolutely crazy game.

[00:36:17] Darcy Kemper let eight freaking goals in.

[00:36:19] I mean, that was rough to watch.

[00:36:21] I mean, Senators let seven in.

[00:36:24] But yeah, I mean, I guess if you're a fan and you're there, that's awesome.

[00:36:27] But as like if the Devils let up seven and even won the game, I'd be very upset.

[00:36:34] Yeah, I'm not into seeing games like that.

[00:36:37] But speaking of Ottawa, here's something we haven't done in a while.

[00:36:41] We're feeling good about the team.

[00:36:43] You know, we only got the one loss.

[00:36:44] We know we're playing Carolina right now as we speak.

[00:36:47] And just a little bit of the week ahead, we've got Ottawa.

[00:36:51] On Thursday in Ottawa.

[00:36:54] With no Linus homework.

[00:36:56] He's out.

[00:36:57] And we have Washington again on Saturday in New Jersey.

[00:37:02] All things going well.

[00:37:05] I mean, again, we can recklessly speculate that

[00:37:08] there's probably at least two of the next three.

[00:37:11] Tonight, Ottawa and Washington.

[00:37:14] How about this?

[00:37:16] This is only our, what, sixth game, right?

[00:37:18] Of the year.

[00:37:19] And if we win tonight, that would be three wins in a row.

[00:37:24] We would have tied our longest win streak of the year last year.

[00:37:29] In the first.

[00:37:30] And when did that happen?

[00:37:31] When did it happen?

[00:37:33] That we won.

[00:37:33] Yeah.

[00:37:33] When did we get the three?

[00:37:34] I thought it took a while.

[00:37:36] It probably did.

[00:37:36] I mean, I can definitely check.

[00:37:41] That's actually.

[00:37:41] Let's just assume it was a while.

[00:37:43] At least midway through the season.

[00:37:44] I remember trying to get to three all the time.

[00:37:46] We're on every show.

[00:37:47] We can't even get to three.

[00:37:48] Or maybe we did it once early and then couldn't do it again.

[00:37:51] But I do remember saying we can't get to three.

[00:37:54] Yeah, it was definitely a problem last year.

[00:37:56] So we had last year, we started out with a win.

[00:38:01] And then we dropped two.

[00:38:03] And then we won two.

[00:38:04] Dropped one.

[00:38:05] Okay.

[00:38:05] So we won our first three in a row on October 27th.

[00:38:10] We beat the Sabres.

[00:38:11] And then we beat the Wild twice.

[00:38:13] I remember that.

[00:38:14] And we were feeling good, right?

[00:38:16] And then we dropped one.

[00:38:17] Won one.

[00:38:18] Lost three.

[00:38:19] Won one.

[00:38:20] Lost three.

[00:38:21] One.

[00:38:23] Two.

[00:38:24] Lost one.

[00:38:25] Won two.

[00:38:26] Lost three.

[00:38:27] Won three.

[00:38:29] There's a lot of losing three in there.

[00:38:31] Damn.

[00:38:31] We had two three-game win streaks up until December 29th.

[00:38:36] Then we lost one.

[00:38:38] Won two.

[00:38:38] Lost two.

[00:38:39] Won one.

[00:38:40] Lost two.

[00:38:41] Won one.

[00:38:42] Lost one.

[00:38:44] Won one.

[00:38:44] Lost two.

[00:38:45] Won one.

[00:38:46] Lost two.

[00:38:47] Won two.

[00:38:48] Lost one.

[00:38:49] Won one.

[00:38:51] Two losses.

[00:38:52] I think, yeah, we had two.

[00:38:53] Two.

[00:38:54] Two three-game win streaks all last year.

[00:38:57] And if we win tonight, we would have tied that.

[00:39:00] And if we beat Ottawa on Thursday, we would have broken that.

[00:39:04] So, yeah.

[00:39:05] And that's something.

[00:39:06] So, anybody who was wondering if this team was for real or if the moves that they made were going to make us better,

[00:39:12] or was this team just going to do the same shit that it did last year?

[00:39:17] No way.

[00:39:18] This is a completely different team.

[00:39:20] This is a completely different team.

[00:39:22] I'm looking forward to checking them out after this.

[00:39:25] Oh, oh, I just want to mention, too, that I know he's listening.

[00:39:29] Faithful listener, Derek.

[00:39:30] He's learning.

[00:39:31] He just started texting me about some other matter.

[00:39:34] And I was like, and now to the game.

[00:39:35] And I said, we're actually recording the podcast right now.

[00:39:37] He's like, talk later.

[00:39:38] He learned.

[00:39:39] No spoilers.

[00:39:40] No.

[00:39:41] Well, when you get to it, nothing.

[00:39:42] Just good job, Derek.

[00:39:43] That's the way it should be, Derek.

[00:39:44] Well, Bob, I mean, is there anything else you want to touch on for tonight?

[00:39:47] We can make this one a little bit short and go watch the Canes game.

[00:39:52] You know, there's something about me and pizza, right?

[00:39:56] I have problems with pizza.

[00:39:57] We've discussed this before.

[00:39:58] I have a pizza debacle.

[00:39:59] So, the other day, you know, we buy like the frozen pizza, right?

[00:40:03] Any grocery store has got a bunch.

[00:40:05] My wife's gluten-free, so I get hers, and that's exponentially more expensive than regular ones.

[00:40:11] I've been eating like the Red Baron.

[00:40:12] It's cheap.

[00:40:13] It's easy.

[00:40:14] That brand's good.

[00:40:15] When I started getting it, it was $4, and now it's like $6 or $6.50.

[00:40:20] So, I'm in there.

[00:40:20] I'm like, well, you know what?

[00:40:21] I didn't think I'd like that low-name brand.

[00:40:26] I'll try the Giant brand.

[00:40:27] What the hell could be the difference?

[00:40:28] I'm not really looking for a gourmet meal here.

[00:40:30] I'm just trying to throw something in the oven for 20 minutes and eat it.

[00:40:33] So, I put them in the oven today, dude, and I put mine on the pizza rack like I'm supposed to.

[00:40:38] It's got little dotted holes, you know?

[00:40:41] Wives go straight on the rack.

[00:40:42] I open the oven, and it's smoking.

[00:40:44] I mean smoking.

[00:40:45] So, I close it real quick in like a panic mode, right?

[00:40:47] And then I'm like, now I got to see what's going on.

[00:40:50] I open it up again.

[00:40:51] I'm thinking my wife, since it's on the rack.

[00:40:54] Maybe it's my wife.

[00:40:55] Maybe the dough is falling through a great line, and it's just – that's usually what happens to me.

[00:41:02] No.

[00:41:03] Tell me if you've ever seen this.

[00:41:04] Through the pizza pan, the sauce and cheese, like –

[00:41:10] Oh, through the dough?

[00:41:12] Through the dough.

[00:41:13] Yeah.

[00:41:14] And I'm like, I don't – it's all a mess in the oven.

[00:41:16] I'm like – so, I mean it was fresh frozen.

[00:41:19] It wasn't pre-cooked.

[00:41:20] Sure.

[00:41:20] And it still said it would take – I did everything they said.

[00:41:23] Have you ever seen something like that?

[00:41:25] Because the house was full of smoke.

[00:41:27] That's fucked up.

[00:41:29] It's just a $4 pre-made pizza.

[00:41:31] Now, it was delicious.

[00:41:32] I got to tell you.

[00:41:32] For a giant brand, it was actually really good, although I had to kind of cut out the middle because I don't think it was quite good.

[00:41:37] No, it doesn't sound like that.

[00:41:37] I put it for like 20 extra minutes.

[00:41:39] We just all – I've never seen that happen.

[00:41:42] I've never had that happen to me.

[00:41:44] I don't know why I can't just have a freaking pizza like everybody else.

[00:41:49] You have had pizza problems.

[00:41:52] Yeah, this is your second pizza problem that we've discussed on the show.

[00:41:55] Well, that's why I told you.

[00:41:56] My dad, for anyone who didn't listen, I got like this really expensive pizza oven that my father had to get me for Christmas.

[00:42:03] Beautiful gift.

[00:42:04] Thanks, Dad.

[00:42:04] But I really was like, this is – I just – I'll just go spend my $12 on pizza.

[00:42:08] This is not the hobby I need.

[00:42:10] I don't need to spend four hours kneading one pie.

[00:42:13] And it came out like Chris.

[00:42:15] I told Chris it was like half was burnt and half was raw.

[00:42:17] It was – I don't know.

[00:42:19] I had better luck with a Play-Doh bake oven or something.

[00:42:21] Well, yeah.

[00:42:22] I just buy the pizza.

[00:42:23] It's $10.

[00:42:24] I'll just buy the pizza.

[00:42:25] Just order Domino's.

[00:42:26] I mean –

[00:42:26] I don't need a pizza oven.

[00:42:27] I have an oven.

[00:42:28] Yeah, you do.

[00:42:29] So like I could still make raw pizza and put it in the oven.

[00:42:32] I just didn't need it done in five minutes.

[00:42:33] Just order Domino's.

[00:42:34] I mean I find that when in doubt, Domino's is consistently mediocre and at least you know

[00:42:40] what you're going to get.

[00:42:42] I like the thin crust Domino's pizza.

[00:42:44] I could eat that every day.

[00:42:46] I love the thin crust.

[00:42:47] I'm glad you say that.

[00:42:48] I think they get a bad rap.

[00:42:49] I enjoy it from time to time.

[00:42:50] It does – for pizza's sake, it's kind of got its own flavor profile.

[00:42:55] But we got a couple local mom and pop ones that mostly what we go to all the time.

[00:42:59] But even – a kid the other day was like, oh, Domino's is cool.

[00:43:03] He's like, Domino's.

[00:43:04] I'm like, I didn't know you loved it so much.

[00:43:06] When I was a kid, Domino's was the bomb.

[00:43:09] I mean I loved getting Domino's.

[00:43:12] Like you have –

[00:43:13] The Noid and 30 Minutes or Less.

[00:43:15] That was a real thing back then.

[00:43:17] Avoid the Noid.

[00:43:18] They need to bring him back.

[00:43:19] Avoid the Noid.

[00:43:20] But –

[00:43:21] Why not?

[00:43:21] Yeah, so right now we are playing the Canes and we are going to go check that out.

[00:43:26] And we're going to wrap this thing up, give you a nice little shorter show

[00:43:29] so we can go and enjoy the game.

[00:43:31] And wherever you're listening to us, they'll like a five-star review,

[00:43:34] a positive comment, download, subscription.

[00:43:35] Helps a little podcast that could.

[00:43:37] And one other thing, if you want to get one of our logo stickers,

[00:43:43] just go to theunclepuckers.com.

[00:43:46] Go to the contact site.

[00:43:47] Fill out the information.

[00:43:48] We will get them in the mail.

[00:43:49] Anybody else who is listening that has requested them,

[00:43:53] they all went out in the mail today.

[00:43:54] They were all set for yesterday, but I forgot it was a holiday.

[00:43:57] So they are all out in the mail today.

[00:43:58] You should be getting them soon.

[00:44:00] So that's for Bob.

[00:44:02] I'm Chris.

[00:44:02] And we're the Uncle Puckers.

[00:44:03] We'll see you when we see you.

[00:44:06] Bye-bye.

[00:44:13] It's over, Johnny.

[00:44:15] It's over!
