[00:14:49] The Vikings had the 11th pick and then early like a couple months ago they traded made a trade with the Houston Texans for their 23rd pick so the Vikings were sitting on two first round picks.

[00:15:02] There I think the theory or you know the just the general thought process was the Vikings need a quarterback as Kirk cousins left to go to Atlanta in the offseason Minnesota wanted to pay him give him a two year deal.

[00:15:17] And he wanted more money he wanted more terms so he ended up going to Atlanta and then something happened in that that I just thought was absolutely hysterical but um, so everybody did the thought process was the Vikings would have to pay him.

[00:15:32] Package these two picks move up in the draft even though it was a very quarterback heavy draft six quarterbacks went in the first round, which has never happened before.

[00:15:43] So they couldn't make a trade up from what it said they wanted to move up to three with New England and go after the quarterback out of North Carolina Drake may they couldn't make that deal.

[00:15:54] They ended up only moving up to the one spot at 11 getting JJ McCarthy was quarterback out of Michigan just coming off a national title who is just the anti Kirk cousins I absolutely love this kid.

[00:16:07] This dude is just his entire career in high school and college the dudes only lost two football games Wow like he's just yeah he's that good.

[00:16:17] And just a leader and then we were able to keep our 23rd pick and get the best defensive prospect consensus prospect off the board in Dallas Turner so we I think the Vikings killed it to prime positions you got to first round studs.

[00:16:33] So I was super super happy with that.

[00:16:36] Another thing I was telling you I thought was absolutely hysterical the Atlanta Falcons had the eighth pick in the drive now I just said they they dragged her cousins away from Minnesota they dangled 100 100 million guaranteed 100 million guaranteed in front of them and he went off to Atlanta and a lot of Viking fans were pissed like a lot of Kirk crusaders out there were like I can't believe he left

[00:17:01] behind dry for the money.

[00:17:03] Yeah where every other Viking fan was like he came here six years ago because we offered him the most amount of money like he was a mercenary what makes you think he's not going somewhere else you know so at the eighth pick a team in Atlanta that has a shitty defense right just paid 100 million dollars for their franchise quarterback for the next four years drafted a frickin quarterback

[00:17:29] that's great number eight.

[00:17:31] I thought it was absolutely hysterical and you know and I've listened to so much draft post draft stuff from experts and insiders and all these people that go through these mental gymnastics to try and make sense like what is the logic does it come up with here.

[00:17:55] The only logic that people make which again makes no sense to me is they like to compare it first of all to when the Green Bay Packers drafted Jordan Love a few years ago well he sat for three years behind Aaron Rodgers.

[00:18:12] Right.

[00:18:13] That was like well they sat him for three years behind Aaron Rodgers and now look at him he's in and he's he looks like he's going to be a good quarterback well there's a bunch of differences in that first of all yeah you have not Aaron Rodgers either.

[00:18:25] Let's start there and and if you go back and remember that time in Green Bay at the every off season it was his average coming back is he retired is he happy is he this.

[00:18:37] He's only signing a one year deal this year this and that so Green Bay basically said we're going to call your bluff and we're going to draft the guy.

[00:18:45] But they drafted this dude at twenty six not at eight that's a big difference.

[00:18:49] And it wasn't like Rodgers had a long term 100 million dollar contract at one point for you know a long term.

[00:18:58] And you also had Aaron Rodgers there for a decade he won a Super Bowl you won MVP's guys coming into that team aren't saying oh it's Jordan loves team no they absolutely knew it was Aaron Rodgers team who.

[00:19:14] Her cousins has zero equity built up with the Atlanta Falcons he's going to walk into that locker room and who are the players going to gravitate to the 24 year old stud rookie quarterback who can fucking throw it better than anybody else coming out of college who's outgoing

[00:19:32] and a classy dude or the soccer dad who shows up to practice in the minivan and reads veggie tales to his kid every day.

[00:19:38] I'm just saying do you think you think he was on the phone with his agent or with somebody from the Falcons organization like what the fuck is this you know he must have been more shocked than anyone they didn't tell him.

[00:19:51] Oh he's not even called him up.

[00:19:53] No they called him up when they were on the clock and said oh by the way we're taking Michael Penix Jr. where apparently he was really really pissed as well he should.

[00:20:04] I mean you know definitely throws a wrench in his plans but I guess he's got 100 million reasons not to worry too much about it but still.

[00:20:12] And if you're in any in the end that's what Kirk Cousins cares about he doesn't care about winning a Super Bowl he cares about.

[00:20:20] Look if there was a hall of fame for best negotiator Kirk Cousins would be in the day after he retires.

[00:20:27] But the problem is nobody remembers how much money you make they remember how many championships you won and he has won none he has won one playoff game his entire life.

[00:20:37] He is not clutch but I will say this in Minnesota when Kevin O'Connell the new head coach came in two years ago he was able to basically mold Kirk.

[00:20:49] And say you can do everything but you know it's between your ears so I want to take that away.

[00:20:57] I'm going to be your brain and you're just going to do what I tell you to do and it worked out really good.

[00:21:02] And you also have to deal with kid gloves with Kirk Cousins you have to make him feel like he's the most important person in the world.

[00:21:09] He is big baby you know and if you even yeah and if you look at our backup quarterback backup quarterback room the last couple of years.

[00:21:18] Sean Mann and Nick Mullins like these are dudes that are non threatening they're never going to take your job you never have to look over your shoulder.

[00:21:26] And you can kind of afford doing that with Kirk Cousins because he very rarely gets injured.

[00:21:31] So maybe you don't need a deep quarterback room but now he's going into a situation looking over his shoulder at the 24 year old stud that they just drafted how much faith do they have in you.

[00:21:43] And if you're the owner you're like dude I just opened a checkbook gave you $100 million and you had every defensive player still on the board.

[00:21:54] You had an amazing generational wide receiver still on the board.

[00:21:59] You're not getting any help for your new quarterback that I just spent $100 million for or bolstering our defense which it badly needs in the first round.

[00:22:07] And you're drafting a guy who essentially you're OK with saying he's going to say four or five years they sell it to ownership as they're making this deal.

[00:22:15] I mean are you telling me that it's possible ownership doesn't really get the final say on this deal.

[00:22:22] Well there's a clip going around online of the general manager and the owner having a conversation where it looks like the GM is kind of explaining to him.

[00:22:33] Well why this makes sense. OK which would then pose the assumption that the author Arthur Blank the owner came in and said what did you guys do at number eight.

[00:22:44] And and then again if you have the balls to make a pick like that without talking to your owner people need to get fired.

[00:22:51] So that's kind of crazy.

[00:22:53] I don't know what's going on here also like his ownership a little bit detached from the whole process.

[00:22:58] I don't even know he is eighty eight. Yeah that's possible.

[00:23:01] That's possible then but you know sometimes usually as a family business and somebody there representing ownership.

[00:23:07] Yes. But I don't know. I don't know.

[00:23:10] I mean I can only imagine if I wait please explain to me why I paid this guy a hundred billion dollars again if we got this guy here now.

[00:23:18] Yeah.

[00:23:19] I mean it is it makes no sense. And like I said all these people that I thought were smart insiders had and they're trying to make sense of this and you sound stupid when you do it.

[00:23:30] It's just because there is no way this makes any sense. I actually had Pat McAfee show on a little bit today and I was so happy when he had somebody on and he's going to make sense of this to me.

[00:23:43] And so the guy's trying to make sense and he's like yeah that's stupid.

[00:23:46] Another reason I'm like finally somebody is coming out in the know is it possible that this guy is valuable for trades down the road or that's not even possible.

[00:23:57] I guess it could be.

[00:23:59] But I mean draft what you want and try to trade later.

[00:24:02] I mean is that even done much.

[00:24:05] My whole thing is you had eight. You had eight right when the season ended.

[00:24:09] You knew where you were picking. You knew that there were six really solid quarterbacks in this draft.

[00:24:14] You also knew there were a few teams in front of you that did not need a quarterback and weren't going to draft one.

[00:24:19] So you basically had the pick of the bottom three guys if you just didn't sign her cousins.

[00:24:26] You would have had no problem getting this guy like before they had the chance to make the deal with cousins.

[00:24:31] Absolutely.

[00:24:32] Oh that makes it even crazier. I didn't realize that.

[00:24:34] I thought maybe they made this decision and then this opportunity arose.

[00:24:38] No you're telling me they made that deal.

[00:24:41] Wow with knowing they signed her cousins five weeks ago quarterback of this caliber available to them at the draft.

[00:24:49] Wow that's crazy.

[00:24:50] I mean you know in Minnesota got went out and got another pick just so they could if they had to maneuver to get over a team like Atlanta and stuff like that.

[00:25:00] So they had a great position.

[00:25:02] Eighth in the draft is pristine and they blew it and it's a terrible pick and I love that it happened to occur.

[00:25:10] Right.

[00:25:11] I'm just I couldn't be happier because I will say this on there right now.

[00:25:15] I believe J.J. McCarthy will bring Minnesota Vikings to the Super Bowl.

[00:25:22] All right.

[00:25:23] I'm hoping my fingers crossed for you.

[00:25:25] Not saying this year he's a rookie.

[00:25:28] I don't even know if he'll play much this year but if he does get in the lineup and he does start it'll be because Kevin O'Connell or coach who I trust wholeheartedly when it comes to these decisions feels he's ready and is a better option than Sam Darnold.

[00:25:44] So I'm really excited to see how it goes.

[00:25:47] You know it's a lot different NFL with NHL like you can play your draft picks and you put them in the minor leagues and they get a good start.

[00:25:54] There's a lot of league and they get a lot of action.

[00:25:56] There's a lot of development there.

[00:25:58] What is the equivalent for that for the NFL?

[00:26:00] There's really nothing right?

[00:26:02] You just want to practice with them and is he ready?

[00:26:05] That's it.

[00:26:07] Yeah I mean if you make the 53 man roster then you're on that team.

[00:26:11] You're maybe not an every down guy but you're going to be in certain situations.

[00:26:16] You know they can play and then each team gets to pick I think it's like 12 players to go on their practice squad which is just like an emergency developmental squad.

[00:26:25] Everybody else gets cut and you know they can go play in the USHL, USFL or whatever and Canada they could you know I mean we drafted a guy in the third round cornerback out of I think he was out of Oregon.

[00:26:40] I can't remember his first name Jackson's last name and he actually took time action Jackson that's right.

[00:26:48] He took some time off of college football and he was like working at Deli meat section of a grocery store and he was like well you know because they asked him what was he going to do.

[00:26:59] He didn't go back to football.

[00:27:01] He goes well I did just get the employee of the month in the grocery store so I went home that night and told my mom what this football thing doesn't work out.

[00:27:09] I guess I'm slicing meat my whole life.

[00:27:11] So you know yeah I mean that's what happens.

[00:27:14] So a lot of times with these drafts the way it works too is they don't necessarily get the deal right that's still subject to making the team.

[00:27:22] Well they'll get signed to a you know very basic rookie contract.

[00:27:27] They'll get a few bucks.

[00:27:28] They'll come in and when it's the 90 something roster and they'll play in the go through training camp.

[00:27:34] They'll play in some preseason games but every few weeks you got to cut your roster down and cut your roster down.

[00:27:40] When you say a few bucks like a big minimum salary for a year.

[00:27:45] No I mean there's less than that right.

[00:27:47] It is much less than that but I know like we just signed a couple of undrafted free agents.

[00:27:53] One of them I think we signed for like 300 grand the other one like I think 200 grand so maybe it's around there you know that you're paying these these late round guys and then so.

[00:28:05] Or do you sign them and if they don't make their team they don't have the contract I guess.

[00:28:09] I'm wondering how that works.

[00:28:11] I have no idea.

[00:28:12] I mean you guys slice and meet so I would think yeah he probably does not have time to.

[00:28:16] This is an upgrade.

[00:28:17] Yeah definitely no but he was a you know he's a fourth round pick so he should make the team.

[00:28:22] Wow.

[00:28:23] Especially on a team like Minnesota that needs cornerbacks but so like I said I was balls deep in the NFL draft so I got to thinking let's do a couple NHL mock draft since our devils are in the top 10.

[00:28:38] Right right.

[00:28:39] So the first draft I went to this is from sports not Alan's Celebacca wrote it now this is no draft lottery or anything like that so this is right now how the standings are one through 10.

[00:28:53] So we know like San Jose sharks are going to get Macklin Celebrini at number one they have the Chicago Blackhawks taking a right wing from the KHL or SKA what is that.

[00:29:06] I think that's the Russia St. Petersburg League or whatever.

[00:29:10] Yeah okay but it says MHL what is the MHL boy I don't know.

[00:29:16] I don't know this is a this is a Mongolian hockey league this is a gangist demodog Ivan Demodog is his name and then it has the ducks taking a defenseman out of Michigan State.

[00:29:33] Art Artium Lev Shunov and then it has Columbus Bluejackets taking a WAHL center named Caden Lindstrom wonder if he's like related to Nick maybe I doubt it.

[00:29:49] There's a lot of them out there I mean that's a one of the top like two or three sweet names I know.

[00:29:57] Another WAHL player going to Montreal at number five a center by the name of Berkeley Caden and then this has a defenseman going to I'm like looking at this I'm like Utah Arizona.

[00:30:11] Dude I still can't get used to this we didn't pick a name.

[00:30:15] I think it's awesome.

[00:30:17] No they actually had a thing on Twitter the possible names I guess they're doing like.

[00:30:24] Let's call them the sister wise that'd be awesome.

[00:30:27] Yeah they're doing some type of I guess fucking contest or whatever right let me see there was like a few of them the Blizzard Yeti's mammoth the ice.

[00:30:45] Sorry about that.

[00:30:47] I'm not sure if I'm digging any of those the Blizzard the mammoth the ice you can't say where the ice ice hockey team.

[00:30:56] Well I think that'd be awesome because you could play ice ice baby every time you score a goal that's probably just now getting to Utah so that's good.

[00:31:05] So I think we should Blizzard I don't know you haven't avalanche already do we need a Blizzard about the holy rollers and it makes me think about Dairy Queen.

[00:31:14] Okay the holy rollers.

[00:31:17] Yeah that or something to tag on to the Mormon is the sister wives like that the Utah sister wife.

[00:31:25] It is kind of sounds like a better name for their W. H. L. you know and I think it's going to end up being the Yeti's yet yet ease the only problem is like nearby you got the avalanche and yeah I feel like we're all treading on the same.

[00:31:41] Doesn't the Colorado Jersey have.

[00:31:44] Yeah that's one of their shoulder right squash footprint under on their patch yeah yeah and so I feel like they're they're a little too close geographically and with the mascot stuff.

[00:31:57] The fury fury was another one.

[00:31:59] All right this is the fury.

[00:32:01] All right.

[00:32:02] I mean I just don't think of fury coming out of Utah.

[00:32:05] The Nick Furries Mormon Fury.

[00:32:08] I love that.

[00:32:09] Yeah how about the Mormon crickets.

[00:32:11] I mean they see those things they're like what we call the cave crickets the Mormon crickets.

[00:32:15] No why are they Mormons don't know but there's that's a thing if you look up the Mormon cricket it's like those crazy spider crickets you see those.

[00:32:23] Yeah there's their aliens I know they're not from another strange yeah so they have teleported.

[00:32:31] They just disappear is what I'm trying to get like you go to the bottom there they're gone.

[00:32:36] They're gone and I never see them jump they just disappeared so I don't know they teleport and they have poor attendance that would be kind of funny.

[00:32:45] And the Mormon crickets.

[00:32:48] The crickets is a good one I'd be cool with that I think that logo be awesome.

[00:32:52] I think you can't a cool I think it's it's a good name for like a minor league team.

[00:32:55] I think it's a little too cutesy there's a lot of those little almost cutesy names you know like insects you know the wasps and this and that in the minor leagues.

[00:33:05] I don't know about the NHL for that.

[00:33:07] I don't like the blue jacks insect I guess to their one logo we thought it was it's it's not it's the yeah but they did choose a fucking blue wasp or something bug or blue jacket like whatever it is blue yellow jacket.

[00:33:23] We do have the ducks and the penguins they're kind of cute yeah I mean penguins they definitely get a pass on that.

[00:33:30] I don't know why it seems like a classic team with a silly name that's true and the ducks let's face it it's always been like a OK Disney's got a team.

[00:33:39] That's where we're tolerating that and their original logo was very cartoony they got it a little bit tougher since yeah that was bad.

[00:33:47] Now the see I would say maybe bring back like the seals but there's no seals in Utah but there's no jazz in Utah either.

[00:33:57] They have a lot of jazz stop and there's zero chat in Utah.

[00:34:02] Yeah I don't know I would love to see what they come up with.

[00:34:05] The Fury is not a bad name for a team period it was a men's league team I played with once that was the Fury at those hilarious considering the people that were on that team but yeah I don't know Utah Fury it just sounds kind of.

[00:34:22] Well whoever they are they're going to get who's this Zane Peric the defenseman from the OHL and then number seven has the Ottawa Senators taken a defenseman from KHL Anton Silya.

[00:34:41] Seattle Kraken a defenseman from the WAHL Carter Yakim Chuck.

[00:34:48] And then yeah at number nine the Calgary Flames taking the right wing from the WAHL T. Eginla T'sh Eginla T. I. J. I don't think no relation to Geron.

[00:34:59] Son of hockey hall famous Jerome again.

[00:35:01] It's Jerome again.

[00:35:02] Yes interesting.

[00:35:03] I saw a draft I saw a draft too that had him mocked to the devil so I'll actually read what they say about him son of hockey hall famous Jerome again.

[00:35:12] T. J. became a top prospect in the WAHL thanks to his shot which will scare NHL go NHL goalies for years to come his puck skills can beat defenders one on one.

[00:35:22] T. J. is a player who will outwork everyone around them and does a lot of the little things which make pro successful being drafted by the same team as father played for would make for a feel good story so Calgary is getting Jerome again less kid which leads number 10.

[00:35:38] The New Jersey Devils taking Zeeve B U I U M.

[00:35:45] Bium Bium Bium Zeeve Bium defenseman Dever University N C double A.

[00:35:52] So he's a college prospect Zeeve bullion has been impressive all year with the pioneers on his way to capturing the national championship.

[00:36:01] So he played for David Carl the guy we talked about right scoring 50 points in 42 games his performance in the frozen for along with winning gold with the United States in both the U.

[00:36:13] A. team world championships in 23 and 24 World Junior ice hockey championships has seen his stock rise a complete defender with a two way game capable of playing big minutes on an NHL teams top four Zeeve excels as a passer and puck handler

[00:36:29] and a definitely defensively responsible player who has shown he is worth a high pick.

[00:36:34] This guy sounds pretty good. Yeah it sounds pretty good definitely.

[00:36:39] Now I will check in a minute on I just want to see if there what other.

[00:36:45] That's years of development do still to come before we say he's ready for the team but.

[00:36:52] And now this is a mock that was done by Bleacher report Lylee Richardson and he has Macklin celebrate he going to the Sharks at one.

[00:37:04] Ivan Demidov going to Chicago.

[00:37:09] Artium Lev Shanov going to the Ducks.

[00:37:14] Cole Iserman going to Columbus spelled differently than Steve so it's not.

[00:37:20] Kate and Lindstrom going to Montreal at five hours are Utah taking Zane Perrick.

[00:37:27] And Ottawa Senators taking Carter Yamachuk Yakumchuk Seattle Kraken taken Anton Siliyev Calgary Flames taken Tija again again.

[00:37:38] And the New Jersey devil's taken Sam Dickinson they had basically everybody's shuffled around except for in good luck again look I think everybody agrees he's got.

[00:37:48] I did see him though like I said drafted to us so this now says about Sam Dickinson yeah what about given the New Jersey devil's.

[00:37:57] Given the New Jersey devil's defensive struggles this season the chance to select the high quality blue line prospect could prove too good to pass up.

[00:38:05] The pounds of Sam Dickinson of the OHL London Knights becomes available the six three two hundred pounder was seventh among North American skaters in the NHL Central Scouting's final ranking.

[00:38:17] Prandman considers him one of the best skaters in this year's draft.

[00:38:21] Buckela noted that he plays major minutes with the Knights particularly at even strength and on the power play Dickinson finished fifth among Knight scores with 70 points in 68 games he was fourth in that category among OHL defenseman.

[00:38:34] The devil's lack of left shot defensemen among their top five prospects he could address this issue and be ready within three years to jump to their roster.

[00:38:44] All right so that's what we got there now look I'm unless we get a.

[00:38:52] You know number one draft pick or there's a guy coming out of number two who's you know a stud I'm saying we move on from we trade our draft pick.

[00:39:01] Yeah right if you think you have a chance to move things around this year to make this team.

[00:39:07] You know we're no longer like just building for the future right a few years ago.

[00:39:12] Yeah we're keeping him we want to see what he does absolutely but now with this defensive core you know any kind of duplication you're looking to deal that instead of waiting to see where it comes later on.

[00:39:26] I completely agree now Tankathon they have the devils picking up Tijiganla.

[00:39:34] He's only six foot 186 pounds so they have him mocked to the devils now.

[00:39:41] I mean he sounds like an interesting prospect I'm just curious you read a lot about him but how do you feel about that.

[00:39:49] Well that's what I was going to ask you know this other this Tankathon one has the devils taking Berkeley cat and as our number at number 10 he's a forward out of Spokane.

[00:40:01] But like my question is first of all who do you know Berkeley cotton is 18 years old he's.

[00:40:10] He's a center he's let's see it's not big he's only like 511 163 pounds he shoots left he's got some big numbers though I think it was like I don't have the numbers here but I think it was like 68 games played.

[00:40:29] Let me see if I have it here yes 511 so this year with yeah he played 68 games he has 54 goals right and 62 assists for 116 points.

[00:40:42] So you should be doing like two points a game basically this dude sounds like a stud right but you know you see that kind of production not all the time I'm not saying from everybody but at that level it's possible where players who are just playing above that everybody else that lover.

[00:40:58] Level they rack up the points like crazy they get these crazy numbers and then can they do that in an HL that's where you have to find out I mean that's not the same thing and.

[00:41:08] And do we want a 511 well that's what I didn't like you know fast smaller oh yes I don't skills forward.

[00:41:16] I think we have a few of those you know I think we've got a couple adding it's you know grit size and that kind of score.

[00:41:27] I don't know I honestly to be fair guys any of these guys coming in you know you think you don't expect to have them fully filled out and have the intern into those kind of players nobody really comes out of college and fills that role you know it takes a while to develop.

[00:41:44] But here's the thing the way I feel with this why I think you unless you can get Macklin's albina you trade this pick because.

[00:41:54] You look at you know other teams building right like if you can let's say the new draft lottery we end up four or five right.

[00:42:02] You want to make a trade with Ottawa you want to try and get Brady Kachuk you have a maybe a top five pick they have they also seven like you're talking about Ottawa having two top ten picks.

[00:42:13] Plus whoever they're going to take from the other rebuild that's what you want that team building and just be and says like this is not our five year window we're moving on we're building for the next five year window.

[00:42:26] And you know Kachuk is going to help us get there by trading away so that's what we would like to you know mesh with the team like that.

[00:42:34] Now let me ask you do you think that it's stupid to think like my whole logic is the guys that we really I feel like we really need on this team like yeah getting a big ass defenseman left shooting defenseman like this dude looks like that dude look like a stud like if you can get him and get him in for a year or so but we also still have shameless Casey in the wings to know he's not left handed but regardless I digress.

[00:43:00] To me what the issues on this team that need to be addressed are with guys that you can definitely address later rounds like we need bigger grittier dudes we need bottom six guys like you're finding them deeper into that draft.

[00:43:14] You know the second round the third round are all those flashy numbers that you know right and I don't know I just don't know like I said other than Max Salabrini only because of everything I've heard about this kid just being you know.

[00:43:29] An amazing generational type talent you know which is very similar to what they said about Jack and pass up on that if he right but outside that you're right like is there anybody that would sway you from like saying these upper rounds are not what we want right now let's trade away our picks.

[00:43:47] Yeah I mean trade that number one it's valuable man it's so valuable especially of Ottawa I'm just using them as an example can plug and play a guy that they draft they would have two top 10 picks.

[00:43:59] You know they can really be if you manage it properly with if you get let's say Alex Holtz and Seamus Casey and that first round pick for Matthew for Brady Kachalk or something like that like you're putting in a stud defenseman you're getting Alex Holtz which.

[00:44:14] You know not sure where his ceiling is but you know it might be high and two first rounders coming on your team I just think that's a that's a deal that I think Ottawa would make.

[00:44:29] Yeah it seems like it makes a lot of sense for both teams and it would be the best thing for the doubles to navigate the draft that way I mean that's a good strategy as you look at it that way that's.

[00:44:41] Yeah now I reached out to our friend of the show Jersey Joe who you know is our draft expert here and he sent over a bunch of info on a bunch of different players.

[00:44:52] Before we get into that I want to actually wait until everybody's on and we'll talk about what play Joe he sent us a bunch of clips and stuff about a bunch of different guys I want to do a little bit more research on some of these guys and dive into.

[00:45:05] He's done his homework he's got a lot of info on these guys awesome yeah he also yeah he also will be on with us we're going to do a draft show about a week or so before the NHL draft so we'll get him on he'll go over all the prospects that he likes and we'll see maybe the

[00:45:23] Devils are sitting with the first overall pick or maybe the Devils aren't picking in the first round and Brady Kachuk is going to become a devil I don't know.

[00:45:30] I'm excited.

[00:45:31] I mean you can make that trade you can make that trade whenever you want you don't have to wait for that.

[00:45:36] Is he going to bring in bagels?

[00:45:39] Kachuk?

[00:45:40] No Jersey Joe.

[00:45:42] Yeah he's bringing bagels.

[00:45:43] Yeah he's bringing bagels in the area you know.

[00:45:45] Yeah it is a terrible one.

[00:45:46] Yeah I think maybe we had him from there once I don't really it wasn't memorable for me.

[00:45:51] I don't like their bagels.

[00:45:52] What if it is Jersey Joe's business we just shit all over it?

[00:45:56] Then I don't think it is.

[00:45:59] If it is I'd say I don't like their bagels but I'm sorry it's not that don't take it personally.

[00:46:05] I like the part in the middle.

[00:46:06] I'm not a giant.

[00:46:09] Yeah I like the part in the middle.

[00:46:11] I mean I don't like I'm not a huge fan of Jimi Hendrix and I'm talking to you and you have a picture of him behind you.

[00:46:16] Oh this bothers you?

[00:46:17] Jimi Hendrix picture?

[00:46:18] No it doesn't bother me at all.

[00:46:20] It doesn't bother me.

[00:46:21] I'm just not a Hendrix man.

[00:46:22] I don't even.

[00:46:23] Not a Jersey Joe bagel.

[00:46:24] Yeah I don't even know how I ended up with that poster.

[00:46:27] It's a pretty cool poster though.

[00:46:28] I started watching One Love the other night Bob Marley Story.

[00:46:32] Okay how do you feel about that because I was looking at a couple ads for it and I'm like this might be cringy bad but I am curious.

[00:46:39] It wasn't cringy bad.

[00:46:42] I have to admit it was extremely difficult understanding the Rastafarian accents.

[00:46:48] Are these the accents or are these the actors?

[00:46:51] Because that's an accent like if you're going to fake it it comes off really bad sometimes.

[00:46:57] I don't know any of the people that were in the movie and the accents sounded genuine to me so I'm going to say that they were definitely the weekend or very good actors.

[00:47:08] So yeah I but the movie itself like I said I fell asleep.

[00:47:13] But it wasn't terrible.

[00:47:16] I mean I really like Bob Marley so anytime the music was on and stuff it was really good and you know it was pretty much about an hour of it.

[00:47:24] It was pretty good.

[00:47:25] Yeah I'd like to check it out definitely.

[00:47:27] There's a bunch of musician biopics that I've missed out on over the last however many years like I never did see the Bowie one which I'm a big Bowie fan.

[00:47:36] I would love to see that but for whatever reason I never did.

[00:47:39] I was a little I'm kind of apprehensive about them annoying me.

[00:47:43] The Freddie Mercury one which one the more than one Bohemian Rhapsody.

[00:47:49] Is that the one you're talking about Bohemian Rhapsody.

[00:47:51] It's a movie was like Remy Malik or whatever it played fantastic really good fantastic.

[00:47:56] Yeah there's been a few what a good movie he was amazing.

[00:48:00] The the entire last 45 minutes where they basically did the entire live aid show was awesome.

[00:48:08] Yeah you know that was a lot of fun.

[00:48:11] I watched a great documentary last night and if any of our listeners have not seen this go on to ESPN plus.

[00:48:21] Okay and watch Saving Sackic.

[00:48:24] This was fantastic now.

[00:48:26] Saving Sackic about Joe Sackic.

[00:48:29] About Joe Sackic.

[00:48:31] So do you remember like 1996 right?

[00:48:35] Yeah vaguely.

[00:48:37] But some pieces.

[00:48:39] But you remember Quebec moving to Colorado and becoming the Abilance right.

[00:48:45] When Quebec was hemorrhaging money at that time and the owner just he didn't want to sell but the group in Colorado really felt that.

[00:48:56] The Denver Nuggets were losing money hand over fist and they wanted to get a new arena for it but there just wasn't enough people so they felt the best way to really build it up is to get an NHL franchise.

[00:49:07] They went out and bring it over to Nordiques and the owner of the Nordiques told them before the deal was done.

[00:49:14] It's like number 19 you do whatever you can you hold on to this guy.

[00:49:20] This team is real close to winning the cup and sure should first year to get to Colorado they win the cup.

[00:49:24] Now do you remember when the Rangers offered Joe Sackic a twenty five million dollar contract fifteen million dollars of this upfront.

[00:49:34] I had forgotten this but now you totally jog my memory yes.

[00:49:38] Right so back then at the time there were there were group A and group one and group two free agents right at the time.

[00:49:46] So a group two free agent which is what Joe Sackic fell into was basically that you can accept or you can listen to other offers from other teams.

[00:49:58] And you would be your team would have seven days to match the offer if they didn't match the offer you go and play with the team that offered it if they do match the offer.

[00:50:11] The other team has to give them their next ten first round draft.

[00:50:17] Yeah that's that's significant and that's a little bit kind of like restricted free agency but with a huge penalty kind of attached to it.

[00:50:25] Right and the reason that they put that penalty in was because the lasting the owners wanted and players wanted but mostly owners.

[00:50:33] Yeah that's the like like look if if team X over here you know decides that you know what let's just throw a ridiculous offer Adam and then you know I want to keep this guy like you can either

[00:50:47] Pilled my guy away from me you can either coach him away or you're going to make me spend a shitload more money than I ever want to franchise to keep them.

[00:50:55] This is before salary cap to so this is because it's huge he was probably you don't have to worry about the cap you could throw unlimited money.

[00:51:03] So teams like the Rangers can basically buy whatever they want and that's what happened.

[00:51:09] Okay so let's rewind 1997 Colorado has been there now two years they have a cop Mark Messier leaves and goes to Vancouver he leaves New York and he goes to Vancouver when Gretzky is still on the team Brian Leach is still on the team Adam Graves still on the team

[00:51:25] still have a good team but you just lost the heart and soul right team.

[00:51:30] So Neil Smith and whoever was the other guy that was actually running MSG and most of you know it was basically Dolan family or whatever it wasn't Dolan it was some other guy and I can't remember his name right now

[00:51:44] right now but they let Messier go they were getting hammered in the media at the time and everything.

[00:51:51] So they decided to offer Joe Sackic contract he's a group two free agent so they offered him I think a four year deal 25 million dollars with 15 million up front and the reason they put all the money up front was because

[00:52:09] New York knew that the avalanche had no money they knew that their books were like not even four million dollars in the black.

[00:52:17] So they front loaded this thing and it was impossible for them to match it.

[00:52:23] And exactly and Joe Sackic was set to go to New York and it was the countdown is on they had seven days to match the offer.

[00:52:35] They did not have a stadium they didn't have the money and you got to watch the documentary to see what they did.

[00:52:42] Oh you need me to put them there.

[00:52:45] I'm going to check it out.

[00:52:47] It is really really good.

[00:52:49] I don't remember how this resolved at all.

[00:52:50] I didn't know anything about it.

[00:52:52] I kind of do remember that New York made a play for him but it was all that.

[00:52:57] Yeah like I don't remember how it resolved how he ended up staying with the avalanche.

[00:53:01] I remember being annoyed that he was going to go to New York and finding out the week after.

[00:53:07] Yeah Colorado matched it and that was that.

[00:53:10] I remember I don't have this history with the Rangers they know we hate the Rangers but the Rangers like before the cap especially were so annoying.

[00:53:17] They were the rich kid on the block who would buy anything and everything.

[00:53:21] It was P.B. Herman's fucking rich nasty neighbor who would wanted his bike so bad that he ended up stealing it when he couldn't buy it.

[00:53:28] That's exactly what the Rangers were like.

[00:53:30] So that's why it was so delicious to watch them just especially after they lost Messier almost immediately.

[00:53:36] They just fell into this you know air of overpaying aging players anybody who would take a boatload of money and throw him on a team never had a real team.

[00:53:47] Because of just throwing crazy money at some big names that was always our ammo 100% today they kind of still do that.

[00:53:55] You look at the moves they made towards the trade deadline last year picking up you know Patrick Kane.

[00:54:03] Okay exactly yeah it just really stunk of their previous I don't see them doing that this year and the best thing they did between last year and this year is I think Laviolet.

[00:54:14] I mean he's the main reason they have a difference there they bought into like a whole team mentality and you got to admit they're playing pretty good hockey but I think their numbers going to be up.

[00:54:24] They have a legit shot.

[00:54:26] I mean I really think when it comes down to the final four in the east it's going to be I think it's going to be Boston it's going to be well I think it's going to probably be Carolina.

[00:54:35] I still got to find if the Rangers make it past Carolina they have a shot.

[00:54:38] Oh definitely they really do.

[00:54:40] This has got to be the biggest hurdle if you're a Ranger fan you know if we get through Carolina anything's possible this is what you'd be saying yourself.

[00:54:47] Exactly.

[00:54:49] But I mean I don't see it happening we'll see.

[00:54:51] You know but you're right the Rangers went out they went out and bought Wayne Gretzi they were trying to get Joe Sackett and the best is when you watch the end and you see because the two guys the Colorado guy not the GM there was the other guy kind of you know that ran the arena and both of the organization.

[00:55:08] He was like the president of them same with this other Ranger doing these guys were tight right until the Rangers and that's what they did they fucked them over they knew full well they completely handcuffed them and when fucked them over and they did it on purpose.

[00:55:23] And when you see how it.

[00:55:25] They actually saved Sackett.

[00:55:27] It's great.

[00:55:28] It's great.

[00:55:29] It really is great well you know they the one guy was talking and he was like you know just a year before the Denver Nuggets they lost to Kenby Matumbo when he went to Atlanta right and the team was like in the playoffs for a few years and then Matumbo leaves.

[00:55:46] And I think they like they won like 20 something games in the year after the arena was just there was nobody showing up.

[00:55:54] And his whole thing was like we made that mistake once I can't let it happen again.

[00:55:59] Like we have to you know we have to get the money to get it and yeah and it's a really really good documentary.

[00:56:07] So yeah saving Sackett gets on ESPN plus I know it's getting a little late we're going to wrap it up I'm just going to run through my Draft King sports book read here.

[00:57:28] The taste for the Stanley Cup is on.

[00:57:30] I like what you look at the light the lamp.

[00:57:32] Nothing beats the act to give into that.

[00:57:34] I like what you said better from the start of playoff Beards.

[00:57:37] I hate that.

[00:57:39] Yeah they're really trying to.

[00:57:41] Your wife is your playoff Beards.

[00:57:44] So anybody that's listening to us let us know any draft picks any guys coming into this draft that you think are absolute devils have to go after this guy.

[00:57:54] Do you feel like we need to unless this is Max Salabrini trade this thing off and get a player now that's going to help the team or even if it is Max Salabrini.

[00:58:02] Do you say we trade this pick or this player and we get somebody in a Brady could chuck or somebody like him.

[00:58:09] That's going to be let's hear from people as we get closer to doing that draft show that's going to be cool but you know also I'm looking at and I wonder if people have any ideas they can send into us.

[00:58:19] As you watch these playoffs are there people that are performing you know at a high level that you didn't necessarily expect to see every playoffs there's.

[00:58:23] You know some new faces emerge it's like wow this and maybe you're thinking hey who is this person do they have a other contract that we could.

[00:58:34] Do you see somebody playing right now that you would like to see on the devils.

[00:58:37] That's excellent yeah let us know that's really good I'm going to actually just like half of the guys on Tampa I'm just like look they can do this team and on my team I'm going to take a look at that.

[00:58:43] I'm thinking about somebody's guys.

[00:58:45] I think he scored like 38 goals this year like he's still I mean the guys got it.

[00:58:50] Yeah he's got one of those long careers where he just doesn't slow down.

[00:58:54] Yeah he's got a lot of goals and he's got a lot of goals.

[00:58:57] I think he's got a lot of goals if that's possible.

[00:58:59] That's excellent yeah let us know that's that's really good I'm going to actually there's like half of the guys on on Tampa.

[00:59:04] I'm just like look thinking of this team and I'm like Stephen Stamka I know we mentioned him a possibility going to Detroit how would he look on this devil team.

[00:59:11] He's got one of those long careers where he just doesn't slow up like a second or something you know.

[00:59:17] So but yeah I mean I'm watching this and I'm thinking maybe Sam Reinhardt in Florida but he's going to be pricey.

[00:59:24] I just think you know you're going to whoever gets Sam Reinhardt next year I think you're going to be paying nine ten million dollars for him and I'm not sure I want to see the devils do that.

[00:59:33] So Brady Kachuk that's the guy but we'll see how it goes and like I said next show we do.

[00:59:40] I got to check Bobby's schedule he's back in town we're going to dive more into we're going to pick about five guys that are mocked to this devils team right now we're going to dive into them.

[00:59:50] We have a bunch of stuff from Jersey Joe he's going to fill us in let us know the actual ins and outs about these players and we'll see if any of them would fit with the devils.

[00:59:59] So anything else you'd like to share with the audience tonight Daniel.

[01:00:04] No enjoy the playoffs while they're on and let's start thinking about how to improve our chances for next year.

[01:00:11] Absolutely so we are the Uncle Puckers, Dan and Chris and we'll see you when we see you.

[01:00:16] Puckers out.

[01:00:19] Really miss Bobby.

[01:00:25] Bye bye.

[01:00:29] Bye bye.

[01:00:31] Bobby can.

[01:00:32] It's over Johnny.

[01:00:34] Bobby bye bye.
