[00:00:40] You notice something about my background that you see that you never see on our show the fucking sunshine

[00:00:47] It is two o'clock in the afternoon here and I it's Mother's Day in Lithuania today so

[00:00:54] She got a new car yesterday. She's very happy. It was not from me basically, but she did get a new vehicle

[00:01:00] So my wife's in a good mood very cool things are going okay

[00:01:05] 2024 x trail Nissan

[00:01:07] Okay, seven seats that was what she wanted because of the kids who have so much

[00:01:11] It's like a traveling circus when we go any place. So is that a car that they sell in America? I think so

[00:01:17] Yeah, I know yeah

[00:01:21] Yes, so how are you doing? Have I talked to you since the draft?

[00:01:24] I don't know if I've talked to I haven't been on the show

[00:01:28] So I gotta congratulate you man you guys you guys in the Bears probably had the two best JJ McCarthy

[00:01:34] Obviously, you know as a pimp see you guys I'd be excited. Yeah, I am excited and I was watching his

[00:01:41] You know press interview when he first came out and he was introduced in the media and stuff and the kid is just

[00:01:47] You know, he's made of the right stuff, you know

[00:01:50] There are certain guys that are just winners that they they will do whatever it takes and this guy's never lost

[00:01:58] He's won. I think two state championships in high school a national championship

[00:02:04] You know, I know the NFL is a different animal

[00:02:07] But I'm just saying like that makeup that he has like, you know

[00:02:11] He does have that and I like that where my old quarterback. He didn't have that and

[00:02:17] And I think felt the same so yeah, I think they had buyer's remorse after they

[00:02:23] In dollars

[00:02:25] You know, it's screwed because

[00:02:29] From what I heard and I'm not sure if this is accurate, but I did read that Sean Payton

[00:02:35] After the Giants took Malik neighbors and we knew that they weren't gonna take a quarterback

[00:02:40] That Sean Payton who I I can't stand the guys a scumbag

[00:02:44] But he called up the Vikings and the Raiders and he said alright

[00:02:48] We're probably the only three teams here that are looking for quarterbacks. What do you guys like and

[00:02:54] Viking said we like McCarthy and you guys said we like Pennex and they said okay

[00:02:58] Well, we like Bo Nick

[00:02:59] so let's just stand Pat and everybody gets their guy and

[00:03:02] Let's not try and screw anybody over and then Atlanta went and took Michael Pennex and blew the whole thing up

[00:03:07] Anyway, yeah, I'm excited about Bowers. I just didn't expect it

[00:03:11] You know, he was I think he was like one of the three three to five and prospects of the draft

[00:03:15] They were thinking, you know, I mean went 13. I mean it just didn't expect that, you know

[00:03:20] But I like Michael Mares that we have to so I think those two together are gonna be a nice tandem

[00:03:25] What do you guys think about Dallas Turner? I?

[00:03:27] Think Dallas Turner is you know consensus one of the best defensemen on this draft

[00:03:33] I mean he was one of the top linemen coming out

[00:03:35] I mean edge rushers rather and I can't wait to see him

[00:03:39] I mean, I think he'll probably be a little bit more situational in the first year

[00:03:43] You know, they're not gonna put him in because we just signed Jonathan Grenard and Andrew Van Ginkle

[00:03:47] So to make up for

[00:03:50] Daniel Hunter going to Houston

[00:03:52] But I do think that there's a world where you're gonna see Grenard Van Ginkle and Turner all on the field and that's gonna give

[00:03:59] Offenses fits so I think he'll be really good, but we'll see and I think Brock Bowers is a stud

[00:04:05] I think you guys have a diamond in the rough there. Yeah, I'm excited to watch a play

[00:04:09] I think like I said, I think Chicago and you guys I know you guys picked up a corner back from Oregon, too

[00:04:13] And I you know crazy

[00:04:16] Jackson like Kyrie Jackson, you know, yeah, he's a he's a little bit out there

[00:04:20] He was did you hear his interview at all? I did not know so he was working took football. He took off football

[00:04:26] He's 25 so he's older but he took football off for two years

[00:04:30] So he doesn't have a 25 year old football body

[00:04:34] But he has but uh, he was talking about like why they you know

[00:04:39] Because he took off a football and stuff and people were asking like why did he do it?

[00:04:43] Why did he come he goes?

[00:04:44] Well, I was working as a deli slicer at a grocery store and I got employee of the month

[00:04:48] He goes and I just figured that that was my lot in life and I was just gonna work in a deli my whole

[00:04:53] Life like that's kind of good that you went back to football, dude

[00:04:57] Did you get the way of the month because I never got employee of the month. I'll be honest

[00:05:00] I've worked in an ACME for about I don't know three months as a deli meat slicer

[00:05:07] No

[00:05:08] I didn't get employee of the month if anything, I was more Mickey Rourke and the wrestler than I was employee of the month

[00:05:14] I hated it. It was a god-awful job

[00:05:18] Yeah, you know I

[00:05:21] Wait talking about like the worst job I ever think I had was I worked in one of those jewelry channels

[00:05:25] You know where people call up and they like and it was yeah

[00:05:28] It was a total scam though

[00:05:29] It was awful like basically like all the old people spending all their money on these gems and stuff

[00:05:33] But that was dude that was the worst fucking job, but I never got employee of the month anywhere

[00:05:38] No, I never did either I've even owned my own places and haven't gotten employee of the month

[00:05:43] So got fired three times at your own place

[00:05:48] And I I can't believe 7 a.m

[00:05:50] Here on the East Coast in Jersey and I gotta be at work in an hour and a half

[00:05:55] This is the real life man. This is the we don't we can't take

[00:06:00] You are constantly like changing your schedule to do this show whether it's staying up late or waking up super early so

[00:06:07] You know, I thought it was only fair that

[00:06:10] That I woke up a little early on a school day

[00:06:14] So yeah, yeah, so let's talk some hockey. Yes

[00:06:17] What a night last night half or what a night for some and what a recurring nightmare for others

[00:06:23] Yeah, and it was almost a recurring nightmare for Boston and I was on this show with Dan

[00:06:28] I think last week and I was just MF in Toronto when they were down three to one

[00:06:32] I was like this is a team of frauds. I was going off on Marner

[00:06:37] I was like, you know, these guys are just not clutch. I still think Marner's garbage in the playoffs, but

[00:06:43] But man they came back Boston looked really

[00:06:47] Scared those last games five and six and then last night was I'm

[00:06:52] Dude my real quick my hottest take and it's not that hot

[00:06:57] When it comes to the playoffs the first round like if you do not have elite

[00:07:02] Goaltending you are going home because this first round has had some of the best

[00:07:07] Goaltending that I have ever seen and I was just watching that game last night going

[00:07:11] Please give me Swamen and Bobrowski in round two and I have a question for you Chris

[00:07:16] You say that and I remember all of us wanted Hellebuck, right? We all were like very big Hellebuck

[00:07:20] We all want him on the Devils. He's he's a guy too in the playoffs the last two seasons

[00:07:24] I was thinking about that earlier today that you know, you speak of the goalies and

[00:07:29] He had some issues man in the last two seasons and you you watch a guy like look at Aiden Hill turn it on in game

[00:07:35] 60 other night which we can get to that game too. Eventually. This is the this is the time that these guys do this

[00:07:40] look

[00:07:42] Connor Hellebuck in the regular season. He had 37 wins

[00:07:46] He had a nine to one save percentage and a two point three nine goals against average

[00:07:53] That was the season with 37 wins, which I think led the league in wins

[00:07:58] He played five games in the playoffs. He was one in four

[00:08:02] his save percentage was

[00:08:05] 864 as opposed to

[00:08:08] 921 in the regular season and his goals against in the regular season was two point three nine in those five playoff games was

[00:08:15] 5.23 I think he led in 24 goals to Colorado and

[00:08:21] I would say, you know, yeah, he got blown up and he came out in an interview yesterday saying that

[00:08:26] He didn't think he played bad. They just didn't have any

[00:08:30] Help or whatever. I don't know about that because I

[00:08:35] Love up to dock an employee of the month. No, he didn't but I'll tell you who maybe

[00:08:42] Even Soros, you know, he played really good. But again, you know, he's had he has a really bad winning percentage in the playoffs

[00:08:49] I

[00:08:50] mean if you're Boston like

[00:08:52] I'm last night I'm sitting there and I'm watching Swamen play and I'm just could you have

[00:08:58] These two goalies that any team would love to have one of these guys

[00:09:01] I mean and you know Swamen just I don't know

[00:09:05] I mean it's just amazing how you can have these two guys on your on your team and we can't even

[00:09:09] You know, we had trouble getting with someone solid in there, you know

[00:09:12] I mean, it's really impressive and Boston is not as good as they I will say this Boston is definitely not as good

[00:09:18] They were last year. You have a lot of guys playing center who would probably be maybe

[00:09:21] Third line on some other teams, right? Well, yeah

[00:09:25] Good I was blown away when they said in the game last night. I had no idea

[00:09:30] Pablo Zaca has never scored a playoff goal. I think he had what two assists only on this one

[00:09:36] I want to say I see maybe maybe it just had the two assists

[00:09:39] They didn't score a lot of goals. So but um, I I think that they're they're gonna get routed the next round

[00:09:46] I think that so with this whole series in general like you got it like Posternak didn't even last night

[00:09:53] He showed up. He did what you have

[00:09:55] He got called out by Montgomery this week if you remember that no

[00:10:00] Just that he needs he needs more basically from Posternak. He just what he needed

[00:10:04] And I mean obviously, you know, we all kind of saw that last night you had with with the whole Toronto thing

[00:10:12] They basically like played a lot of shitty games this series like I mean at the end

[00:10:17] Yeah, and what's crazy is they start playing when Matthews is out, right? That's kind of like the crazy thing about it

[00:10:22] He's not playing at 100% obviously he's missing games

[00:10:26] So it's you know, the power play was absolutely awful

[00:10:30] I think it was like they had like one goal at like 22 attempts or some shit like that

[00:10:34] You know, I mean the could they won the series. Yeah, we were talking about that yesterday man

[00:10:38] I was like, I wonder if they can just put enough energy to steal this series with this last night

[00:10:43] But now then Swain was pretty amazing

[00:10:46] You know Boston like I said, I think you're gonna get routed also next series

[00:10:50] I think Toronto's gonna have a lot of shit happening now because how how could you not change stuff up?

[00:10:55] I mean, I was looking at something really fast Chris last night that I thought so seven straight loss

[00:10:59] Okay for for Toronto and seven games

[00:11:03] 2013 at Boston. Okay, they lost in game seven

[00:11:07] 2000 elimination games, I'll say 2018 at Boston in game seven

[00:11:12] 2019 at Boston in game seven. These are all losses

[00:11:15] 2020 verse Columbus and five games and then

[00:11:18] 2021 verse Montreal say they lost in seven

[00:11:22] 2022 verse Tampa. We all remember that they lost in seven and then

[00:11:25] 2024 after last night. I mean they have lost

[00:11:29] Two years ago and seven. I don't believe it was a seven. No, these were all elimination games for the last day

[00:11:35] But yeah, I mean

[00:11:37] Boston is a

[00:11:39] Completely different team in the playoffs than they are in the regular season and I don't know why because they

[00:11:46] It's you know, I get that Toronto after the first three games switched it up

[00:11:51] It really four games and said okay like, you know our offense isn't clicking

[00:11:55] Let's just lock try and lock it down and I thought they did a good job of playing defense because there were after

[00:12:01] You know game two really there were no not many goals scored

[00:12:04] I thought that

[00:12:07] Joseph wall. I wanted to see him play last night. I thought that he played great in game six

[00:12:11] But you know, whatever he was in Sam Slough was good though. I have that I give him credit

[00:12:15] Yeah, he was good last night, you know, it's Sheldon Keefe gonna be there. I doubt it

[00:12:20] I don't Mitch Marner gonna be there. I doubt it

[00:12:23] They're gonna have to make some changes. I mean you have the same they were saying

[00:12:29] Matthews

[00:12:30] Marner and Neal under have all been there for the last four

[00:12:35] First round eliminations or last year

[00:12:37] Yeah first round eliminations or however long it was

[00:12:40] Maybe there was a second round elimination in there and Tavares has been there for three of them

[00:12:44] Like this is your core group and they can't get out of the first round

[00:12:49] You know last year they did but like I'm just saying like, you know, they're this is a team that's completely top-heavy

[00:12:54] They're built

[00:12:56] Everybody

[00:12:57] Hasn't been you know a final or a you know winning the cup at the beginning of every year and

[00:13:03] They're the Dallas Cowboys of the NHL, you know

[00:13:06] They have great fighting going on too

[00:13:08] If you notice this series you had the bench you had a Neal under and I don't know if it was Matthews

[00:13:12] Who was actually against but there was some chatter on that. There was trouble on the benches things started falling apart

[00:13:18] You know when you guys are when they're I get the competitive nature of being on the bench

[00:13:24] You know and I get you know being fired up and like when Timo yelled at Nico like

[00:13:29] I don't I don't have a problem with that

[00:13:31] It's when you're slamming sticks and gloves and blame blaming other people and things like that

[00:13:36] That's when you start having a discourse in your on your bench

[00:13:41] And this is what I think happened in Toronto and then Matthews is out which is weird that they're saying at first

[00:13:47] It's an illness then they're saying no

[00:13:49] He's injured and then he can only get in limited time like they didn't come out saying just come out and say what it was

[00:13:55] Like now it's so it's always lower body. That's it. That's it. That's it

[00:13:59] But back in the day, you would he actually hear the injuries now. You never hear it

[00:14:03] You know, so I

[00:14:05] But we do have a game seven tonight, which is it been an amazing series in Vegas and Dallas

[00:14:12] I mean holy shit, Aiden Hill looks so friggin good in game six

[00:14:16] Crazy huh? Yeah, and you know again his his numbers are

[00:14:22] We can I think I got him here real quick

[00:14:27] Remember him last year too. I mean it's that's a weird series, you know the Knights

[00:14:32] The Knights and that that did you watch the game six at all?

[00:14:35] Of which one the Knights? Yeah the Knights. Yeah, I watched it

[00:14:38] I mean they had a lot of chances in the first period, you know, obviously and like Ottinger shut them down

[00:14:44] But Aiden Hill just I mean when he started playing that game, I mean stone made it there was a second period

[00:14:50] I think still made a crazy play in front of the net

[00:14:54] Hannafin so this is I wanted to bring up too as you look at Hannafin right they get him

[00:14:58] He's cool. I think he has two goal

[00:14:59] He had two goals his playoffs and which was that the other night also which was a gigantic one

[00:15:03] Because he was an acquisition at the play at the deadline. He was something they needed and you know

[00:15:09] This is another thing as a Devils fan. You cut you see these transactions. You're like wow

[00:15:13] This really has helped this team

[00:15:15] Well, I look over the other side too and I see Tanna Von Dallas and that's the other guy that we were looking to

[00:15:20] Get and you know look

[00:15:22] Vegas won the first two games and then Dallas completely took control of the series in the next three and then Aiden Hill

[00:15:29] And now integer had a battle in game six. That was so much fun to watch

[00:15:34] I cannot wait for tonight and it's gonna come down to which goalie has a better game tonight

[00:15:39] So you have to go with Hill right now Thompson

[00:15:41] Even though I think Thompson did four have played four of these games so far this series

[00:15:45] I think you have to go with Aiden Hill Thompson played four games so far this series

[00:15:49] He's got a nine point two one save percentage. This is before game six that I know it's not it is it's after

[00:15:56] It's of course before tonight's game and a two point three five goals against and that was the playoffs which are

[00:16:02] Better numbers than his regular season, which he had a nine oh eight save percentage

[00:16:07] He's at a nine twenty one in the playoffs

[00:16:08] He had a two point seven goals against in a regular season. He's at two point three five

[00:16:12] Yeah, Aiden Hill who played the two games. He's one and one

[00:16:16] regular season

[00:16:18] He was to do to do to I'm sorry. This is also the playoffs

[00:16:22] I don't think I have his regular season stats, but his

[00:16:26] No, no his regular season was 19 wins two point seven one goals against and a nine oh nine save percentage in the playoffs

[00:16:33] He's got a nine three eight save percentage and a one point five two goals against I know it's only two games

[00:16:38] But you play Aiden Hill. Yeah, you're right. You're right the hot hand I mean

[00:16:42] Yeah, and Ottinger again, you know his numbers are so much better in the playoffs in the regular season 35 wins

[00:16:49] He had a two point seven two goals against in the playoffs. He's at a two point one

[00:16:53] I mean a two point seven two in a regular season and he's at a two point one in the playoffs

[00:16:57] He had his save percentages ticked up a little bit in the playoffs

[00:17:04] 905 save percentage in the regular season and a nine twenty one

[00:17:08] Six games in the playoffs like Ottinger and Hill have been playing Thompson have all been playing fantastic

[00:17:14] And that's the story of the playoffs this game goes either way to I really believe that I just you know

[00:17:19] I mean Eichel's been playing well, obviously, you know, I mean it's just gonna go

[00:17:23] I just really this is gonna be a great game tonight. I'm sure I agree. I'm really looking forward to it

[00:17:29] I believe that's a 730 start tonight Eastern time and then we have a

[00:17:34] What's the so what's the what's the first game tonight? What's the is there sure?

[00:17:37] So it's four o'clock four o'clock. Yeah, four o'clock Rangers the Rangers Carolina

[00:17:42] at the Garden

[00:17:45] and I

[00:17:46] Yeah, I mean

[00:17:48] Let's be honest. I mean first of all Washington was a Washington was a joke

[00:17:53] Shouldn't I mean in there Oh that's good. I mean this guy

[00:17:57] I don't even think he had a point in this whole series if I remember correctly, maybe he did cared. Yeah, I mean

[00:18:03] It was like he gave a shit

[00:18:06] The Rangers, you know she stark and it's weird because with Washington's performance

[00:18:11] I can look at all these Rangers stats and be like well this and this and this

[00:18:14] But Washington was just a pushover. But uh, obviously she stark in four wins no losses as you know, I mean what?

[00:18:22] It's gonna be it. I think it's gonna go

[00:18:25] Seven games. I do believe that but this is gonna be a hell of a series

[00:18:28] I mean, you know Anderson's been playing well

[00:18:30] I mean

[00:18:31] It's you know

[00:18:32] What do you know when you think Chris when you got to be honest because I think the Rangers are a good team

[00:18:36] This year and as much as I hate like a Matt a rempey and stuff like that

[00:18:39] I think they were huge for this team this year. I think it's gonna be the Rangers in seven

[00:18:44] Yeah

[00:18:45] Yeah

[00:18:45] And you know if you just stick with round two with the formula that got everybody through round one

[00:18:51] It comes down the goaltending and I think

[00:18:54] The only thing that I think the Canes have the advantage over and I don't know how much of an advantage it is

[00:18:59] To me is that Freddie Anderson?

[00:19:01] Didn't play a lot in the regular season

[00:19:03] So he's fresh as a daisy or at least should be but again, you know

[00:19:08] you look at these regular season numbers and you look at the playoff numbers and

[00:19:14] Freddie Anderson is the only

[00:19:17] goalie

[00:19:18] That came through that had worse numbers in the playoffs and he did in the regular season

[00:19:23] So for that I'm gonna take Shostarkin who during the regular season

[00:19:28] 136 games to a Freddie Andersons 13. I get it Freddie Anderson was sick in the out for most of the year

[00:19:35] In those 13 wins Freddie Anderson at 1.8 for goals against that's a regular season

[00:19:40] He's at a 9 1 2. I mean a 2 point

[00:19:44] 2.25 goals against in the playoffs, which is still really good

[00:19:47] I mean 1.8 for is ridiculous

[00:19:50] so he didn't play a lot and his save percentage in the regular season was 932 and it's down to

[00:19:56] 912 now in the five games, which is also the same save percentage that Igor Shostarkin had in the regular season

[00:20:03] But now he's up to nine point nine thirty one save percentage

[00:20:06] But he only played the four games and a one point seven five goals against

[00:20:10] I think the Canes have to come out early and win they have to I mean

[00:20:15] It's the old adage they got it split the series split the first two you have to steal one in New York

[00:20:20] but I think I think the Canes are a really good team and

[00:20:26] I just worry that the Rangers the way that they play

[00:20:30] They're so patient that even when you're in their your offensive zone and you're pushing they have the ability to just

[00:20:38] Quick transition and go the other way and they don't miss when they do. They're a really good team

[00:20:43] There this is also gonna come down to special teams. These are two of the best special teams teams in the regular season

[00:20:50] I think they were like three and four in combined special teams in the league

[00:20:54] I could be wrong about that, but they're definitely like top six or seven both of them

[00:20:58] So I think it's gonna come down special teams and goaltending. That's what it's gonna come down to

[00:21:02] Yeah

[00:21:03] I mean and you look at guys on the Rangers who last year in the playoffs obviously didn't show up

[00:21:07] You look at like Sabatajad has I think he's seven points, you know

[00:21:10] He's got already in the first series like I said, it's against Washington and Washington was definitely didn't show up

[00:21:17] You know, but he's getting he's average of 20 minutes ice time, you know

[00:21:21] Cried her when they are I don't know that they're built. I think the Rangers are a little bit

[00:21:27] So what do you have? So what's the point leaders on so for Carolina you had what Jarvis?

[00:21:31] I don't even I don't even know right now what they

[00:21:36] Was I think has five points this playoffs

[00:21:38] I mean, he's a good player. He's average in like 20 minutes a game too

[00:21:43] What was put I'm trying to remember Panera and I think only has a few point

[00:21:46] I think he's got you know two goals and an assist or something

[00:21:49] But the Rangers, you know, they're gonna be tough. I'm actually gonna I do see was a hundred percent

[00:21:53] What you're saying about Rangers in seven, I'm gonna go the opposite on seven

[00:21:55] I'm gonna go Carolina in seven just because I

[00:21:58] Cool, I think you should I just feel like it's gonna go either way

[00:22:02] I feel like this is gonna be another another series that just like Boston Toronto in a way where it's cuz he's probably

[00:22:07] Gonna come out to the end and you know could go down to overtime

[00:22:10] I just see a couple of the rags contributing that weren't contributing last playoffs that you know

[00:22:16] Seth Jarvis is leading the Canes in points. He has seven. He has three goals and four assists Martin Natchez has five points

[00:22:25] Spetsakoff has five points Brady Shea has five points. I like that Natchez. I really and that's Shay

[00:22:30] I'll tell you he's another one that guy, but they haven't even gotten

[00:22:34] Sebastian Ajo growing yet. So, you know that's I expect him to also be a difference maker in this series

[00:22:40] I expect a good long series of two teams that I think are gonna beat the shit out of each other

[00:22:46] Do you find hard like like now that the seasons over, you know, and like when I don't

[00:22:51] Like when the season is going on with the Uncle Pucker show you like I'm always watching like the social media things for all

[00:22:57] This you know

[00:22:57] so the devil's get you know devils are out obviously not much going on on our front and

[00:23:01] As much as I hate the Rangers I start looking at the playoffs is a big pitcher like as much as I don't like this

[00:23:06] Team I start looking at the reality of it, you know, cuz I'm so bitter about like we talked about when Renfrew scored that goal

[00:23:10] I think it was on if it was game one or two this year

[00:23:13] Play well, I wanted to puke. It's like, you know

[00:23:17] But I do think the Rangers are good. I think I would love to see them

[00:23:20] I think the Rangers have to get knocked out of the series because I think well, I don't know Florida

[00:23:25] No, it's water and tough. Yeah, it's like look. I'm sorry. I don't care who comes out of this series

[00:23:31] I just think you're going up against a team on a mission

[00:23:34] They've been on a mission since the puck dropped in game one in October

[00:23:38] These guys are ready to win a cup and I think that they're gonna have their second chance in a row to do it

[00:23:45] And I wouldn't be shocked if we have a 96

[00:23:48] Stanley Cup final rematch Colorado and Florida, but yeah, I mean I just think

[00:23:55] Whoever comes out of the Ranger Carolina series is just gonna meet their doom in sunrise

[00:24:00] And I think Florida they first of all with the lightning

[00:24:03] They learned how to beat the lightning last year when they got a lot when they lost

[00:24:05] I think they took a lot of notes and changed a lot of shit to make sure that they could they were ready

[00:24:10] Florida is the opposite of what we had happen in New Jersey this year Florida built on a season last year and got better

[00:24:15] This year, they actually like they did it

[00:24:18] They actually progress

[00:24:19] I think I would have to rewind it because I am known to smoke some weed sometimes and forget some shit

[00:24:24] But I believe I predicted Florida

[00:24:26] To go very far in these playoffs because I was so impressed with them last year

[00:24:29] Could be totally wrong. So no and I think if you go back and listen to the shows

[00:24:33] You'll see that I was the exact opposite

[00:24:35] I said with the amount of injuries they incurred in the playoffs last year and that in the beginning of the year

[00:24:41] A lot of a couple of these guys are they started with injuries? Yeah

[00:24:45] They weren't even gonna be in the lineup until like Thanksgiving or Christmas

[00:24:49] Second thing was when you go through that grinding of a playoff like they did last year only to come up short

[00:24:55] In the finals, it's really hard to get back there

[00:24:58] It's really hard to get yourself up to make that run again after another grinding 82 game season

[00:25:05] I was so wrong about that team because they were the best hockey team in the Eastern Conference for most of the year and

[00:25:14] You know, they just they they don't have an off switch and they are so many guys on that team

[00:25:19] That are just we've said it right that have that clutch gene that are just you know

[00:25:24] Guys that you don't want to mess with in the playoffs and I think they've gotten better because if you remember last year

[00:25:30] It was all Keith or Matthew Kachuck. Yeah, he's got nine points already these playoffs for right? He's got nine points

[00:25:36] I mean now I feel like some of that Matthew Kachuck magic is rubbing off on the rest of the team and

[00:25:41] You know now they're kind of they know how to win in the playoffs

[00:25:44] And I think they're gonna be I think they're gonna route Boston even unless look Swainman can keep them in every game

[00:25:51] So I am looking forward to a Bobrovsky Swainman, but it would be a shame if Florida doesn't come out of the East because they are

[00:25:58] The best team. What did you say Swainman's goal average was is in the playoffs?

[00:26:01] It's like one point something I want to say was at one point four nine

[00:26:05] You said or one point four eight or some shit like that. I mean, I was just really impressed with it

[00:26:09] Well, I said I you know he was very impressive last night

[00:26:13] I think I know it's I know you said one for something. I forget exactly what it was

[00:26:18] Where the hell is Swainman's?

[00:26:20] Vegas Dallas Florida

[00:26:23] Tampa Bay Washington Isles

[00:26:27] Did I not do Swainman's numbers?

[00:26:30] For some reason I know it was like one something but you know, I mean he's like I said

[00:26:34] He could be a big difference maker, but I have to go with Florida. I think

[00:26:38] Florida has everything I think they have the leadership. They got the balls. They will punch you in the mouth

[00:26:44] They will like I said, they made Tampa look bad in a lot of ways, you know

[00:26:49] You know, I think Vazzy's had a goal I think his GA door that playoff was like way over three

[00:26:57] Jeremy Swainman's I'm sorry his goals against Jeremy Swainman's goals against in the playoffs is one point four nine

[00:27:03] With a point nine five save percentage. So this dude yet his clutch and

[00:27:09] You know Oh mark yes, you know last year's Vesna trophy winner and

[00:27:15] You know who will be on the market this year

[00:27:18] I just think you know, we got a really I just don't again

[00:27:22] We'll talk about this more after the playoffs, but I just I'm really worried about overpaying for a goal center

[00:27:29] You know, I know we we need one

[00:27:31] But I feel like we can get good one in either a smaller trade with maybe a lesser-known guy or free agent

[00:27:39] I'm still on the Lorraine Berswa train

[00:27:41] ,

[00:27:48] ,

[00:28:05] get a, I don't know, there might be a free agent big name coach available.

[00:28:10] Am I right about that, Tom?

[00:28:12] Oh yeah.

[00:28:13] You know, Brendan Moore, you know, and we were, me and you talked off the record about

[00:28:16] him.

[00:28:17] He is, you know, a guy that this team could definitely use.

[00:28:19] I mean, the guy is a winner anyway.

[00:28:21] I mean, if you look at, he has, if you looked at Brendan Moore as a player,

[00:28:25] which I think he had, he had a gold medal.

[00:28:26] I think that was what 94 against Italy.

[00:28:29] The guy won obviously he's been coaching as assistant.

[00:28:31] I think he started coaching in 2011 as an assistant.

[00:28:35] He's been there.

[00:28:36] He's proven every season that he's been the head coach.

[00:28:37] They've made it to the playoffs this year and they made it past the first round.

[00:28:41] Yeah, past the first round.

[00:28:42] So you know, we look at that with him.

[00:28:44] He's won a cup as a player too.

[00:28:46] He won a cup with Carolina obviously was the captain of that team.

[00:28:52] And you know, so actually I have his, so coaching, so since, since as a head coach,

[00:28:56] I actually have his numbers here.

[00:28:57] So 2018-19, his first season as head coach, he lost in the third round.

[00:29:01] So he actually did lose in the first round in 2019-20.

[00:29:05] He lost in the first, the first round.

[00:29:08] But after that it was 2020-21, the second round, 2021-22 was second round.

[00:29:13] And obviously last year was in the third round.

[00:29:16] I pulled like his coaching numbers.

[00:29:18] Guys got 278 wins, 130 losses.

[00:29:22] But you know, with Brendan Moore, I also won the Jack Adams, right?

[00:29:24] I think it was 2020-21.

[00:29:27] He was a guy, he's, you know, that even as a player, like he had grit to him.

[00:29:32] He wasn't a big fighter, but he fought some dudes.

[00:29:34] He fought Barnaby and he fought Bobby Holi back in the 90s.

[00:29:38] I don't know.

[00:29:39] To me, he just has a fire to him.

[00:29:40] He's kind of like a, he's only in his 50s.

[00:29:42] What is he?

[00:29:43] Is he 52 or 53 I think?

[00:29:45] Yeah, he's not old.

[00:29:46] He's not too old.

[00:29:47] And I think with what I'm so surprised about with Carolina, you know, most likely

[00:29:52] he's going to be the coach Carolina next year.

[00:29:54] Like if I had to put my money on it, wouldn't you say most likely this is going

[00:29:56] to be the scenario?

[00:29:57] Because how do you let this guy leave?

[00:29:59] Well, I agree.

[00:30:01] But again, the Colorado, Carolina, the way that they run things a lot like Lou used

[00:30:09] to run the Devils and they don't like to pay people.

[00:30:12] They never did.

[00:30:13] Tom Donnell waited out.

[00:30:14] I mean, but is it going to backfire because it's going to be a lot of

[00:30:17] offer.

[00:30:18] Everybody wants this guy.

[00:30:19] You know, that's what it's going to come down to.

[00:30:22] I'm sure that there are a few teams already that are just waiting until Carolina is out

[00:30:27] so they can, you know, put a phone call in to see about his availability.

[00:30:32] And I think the Devils most definitely need to be one of those guys, one of those

[00:30:36] teams and I'm, I've been on this show saying, look, if the guy wants 5 million

[00:30:41] a year, give them the 5 million a year, make them the highest paid head coach.

[00:30:47] If you have to in the NHL, because he deserves it and he's worth it.

[00:30:49] And he will make this team a hell of a lot better.

[00:30:53] But I think Otto was going to be looking into him.

[00:30:56] I heard that the LA Kings are going to be looking into him.

[00:30:59] So you do have already, he is not even on the market and he's probably the hottest

[00:31:04] commodity when it comes to coaching right now.

[00:31:07] So I think for us, he would be an event.

[00:31:08] It would give us something that we each because, you know, I'm obviously, and

[00:31:12] I think you would like this too, because I know with rough, you kind of felt like

[00:31:14] he should have been more, more electric.

[00:31:16] So the thing with, with Brendan Moore is Brendan Moore, I don't know if it was

[00:31:20] probably two or three years ago.

[00:31:22] He was, he was fined like 25,000 for going after the officials, you know,

[00:31:26] because of some bat in the playoffs.

[00:31:28] He's fiery.

[00:31:29] He has that personality.

[00:31:31] He's not afraid to actually, you know, use his voice.

[00:31:35] Um, you know, I don't know.

[00:31:36] I mean, to me, he fits a little bit of, of course I like guys like

[00:31:40] torts, I know everyone can stand on, but he's fiery coach.

[00:31:42] I think Brendan Moore is the in-between.

[00:31:43] Like he's kind of going to keep his composure, but he's just going

[00:31:46] to spark up the team because I thought with Travis green too, nothing against

[00:31:49] green.

[00:31:49] I mean, I obviously we don't know what happened in the locker room, but it

[00:31:53] just seemed like we're very, there's not much fire on that bench.

[00:31:56] No, no, the devils lacked so much and, and you know, we talked.

[00:32:02] The entire season, right?

[00:32:04] The deficiencies of this team and the things they have to clean

[00:32:06] up and everything like that.

[00:32:08] But even if they got themselves, Jacob Markstrom this year, and let's

[00:32:15] say they got a, a defenseman, you know, maybe not Tannib or not Hanifin,

[00:32:20] but let's say they, they, they made a couple of moves.

[00:32:23] You see how these teams are playing in the playoffs and it is so much more

[00:32:27] physical and there's so much more.

[00:32:30] Um, they do everything they can in the playoffs to take the big guys out.

[00:32:36] And you know, our speed and skill, I think would have been eaten up and spit

[00:32:40] out because I don't think we're able to match anybody in these playoffs

[00:32:44] and physicality, and, um, that's something that needs to change.

[00:32:49] And it's not just the, we need physical players.

[00:32:52] That's not always the case.

[00:32:54] It's also the system and how you play.

[00:32:56] You can play with more grit.

[00:32:57] We do have guys that can, you know, be a little bit tougher that just aren't

[00:33:02] like, I would love to see what Rod Brindamore, I was just about to say,

[00:33:05] I would love to see how Rod Brindamore coaches Kevin Ball.

[00:33:09] Uh, I would love to see him, you know, get that next level of

[00:33:13] physicality out of Kevin Ball and out of some of our guys, you know,

[00:33:17] that absolutely need it.

[00:33:19] And I think guys like Curtis Lazar would flourish under Brindamore.

[00:33:23] Um, and I think Brindamore would love to have guys on his team like Jack

[00:33:28] Hughes and Neath Ohesher and Timo Meyer and Jesper Bratt.

[00:33:31] Like he doesn't, Carolina never had top flight offensive guys.

[00:33:37] They never did.

[00:33:38] Sebastian Ajo is their best player and he's very good.

[00:33:42] But if you look at just the skill positions, they don't have guys that are

[00:33:47] going to be putting up huge numbers and, and they just don't, they,

[00:33:50] that's not how they play.

[00:33:51] So I would love to see the Hughes brothers play under him.

[00:33:54] Right.

[00:33:54] I mean, what can he get out of Luke?

[00:33:56] What can he get out of Shimon Nemech?

[00:33:58] Like it's the, the, the, I think as of all the coaching

[00:34:03] availabilities and all the teams out there that are going to need a head

[00:34:07] coach.

[00:34:08] I don't know if there's a, a better ball of clay to mold than in New Jersey.

[00:34:13] I just think that if you're a coach and you believe in yourself and you

[00:34:16] believe in your system, you look at that lineup and you look at that

[00:34:19] roster and say, I can get this team to a Stanley Cup.

[00:34:23] And that should be the logic because the roster is loaded.

[00:34:27] Yes, there are deficiencies and there are pieces missing, but those

[00:34:30] aren't pieces that are going to be very difficult to get.

[00:34:33] I think in between free agency and just guys in Utica, I think we can

[00:34:37] make up a lot of that.

[00:34:39] Not all of that.

[00:34:39] We need a goaltender.

[00:34:40] We need a defenseman.

[00:34:41] And I love to get a solid guy in the top six.

[00:34:45] Um, another guy I wanted to bring up to you, I believe it was Tim.

[00:34:49] Tim Wood sent us a message and he just mentioned it.

[00:34:52] And I was watching them this whole Boston series.

[00:34:55] Jake DeBrusk is a UFA.

[00:34:59] I like the way he plays, man.

[00:35:01] Um, I was watching them a lot after I, you know, Tim mentioned them to me.

[00:35:05] And, cause I, you know, I look at all these guys.

[00:35:08] It's Boston.

[00:35:09] Yeah.

[00:35:09] You remember, remember his father, right?

[00:35:10] Louis.

[00:35:11] No, I don't.

[00:35:12] I thought he was any place for Toronto.

[00:35:13] No, no, I don't remember Louis DeBrusk.

[00:35:17] All right.

[00:35:17] It was his dad.

[00:35:18] Um, I never thought about DeBrusk actually.

[00:35:21] Me neither.

[00:35:22] And he's a good player and he's physical.

[00:35:24] He stays tough and he's a hell of a playmaker.

[00:35:28] I think, you know, maybe he's a little bit on the smaller side, but again,

[00:35:32] you know, maybe that's somebody that we need and the head coach is

[00:35:37] going to be a big, big part of it.

[00:35:38] So if there's even a sliver of possibility that Rod Brindlemore

[00:35:43] can be leaving Carolina, Hey, you know, he's from this area.

[00:35:47] He's played in Philly.

[00:35:49] He coached in Carolina.

[00:35:50] He's always been in the metropolitan division.

[00:35:52] Maybe he wants to stay and not move cross country or up to Canada.

[00:35:55] And maybe we can snag them.

[00:35:57] But I think Carolina will end up paying them.

[00:35:59] I think Ottawa was kind of like, and I actually don't mind the sentence.

[00:36:02] You know, I mean, I think that's a place that you have to kind of

[00:36:05] think twice before you go there because it seems like,

[00:36:07] you know, it's not an easy job.

[00:36:09] Um, I just want to know what do you think about?

[00:36:12] Do you think that this contract issue with, I mean, do you think

[00:36:15] it's going to have any kind of distraction during these playoffs for Carolina?

[00:36:18] Cause I don't know if it's, I will say, I don't think it's going to,

[00:36:20] I'll state that, but I mean, what do you think?

[00:36:22] I don't think so.

[00:36:23] I don't think so.

[00:36:24] I think that Rod Brindlemore, the last thing he's thinking about is his contract.

[00:36:27] Um, and you know, ownership isn't going to bring anything up until

[00:36:31] their season is over.

[00:36:33] So, um, but I wouldn't be surprised if, you know, win or lose in this

[00:36:37] series, uh, that the day after they're eliminated, they offer them a contract.

[00:36:42] Now look, it might be, you know, I think he gets like less than

[00:36:46] 2 million or around 2 million a year.

[00:36:48] It might be a $3 million contract and he might just be going,

[00:36:51] you know what, I've been doing this for six years now.

[00:36:53] I've given you nothing but success.

[00:36:56] Now I want to get paid and, you know, maybe you get somebody to call them

[00:37:00] like Tom Fitzgerald and say, Hey, we'll give Mickey the highest

[00:37:02] paid head coach in the league.

[00:37:04] And, uh, whether or not we would do that.

[00:37:07] I mean, it seems that our ownership doesn't mind spending money.

[00:37:09] So I have no problem with that.

[00:37:11] And it's not, it's not salary cap money.

[00:37:13] So who gives a shit?

[00:37:14] Yeah.

[00:37:15] Just pay the guy.

[00:37:16] And some shit just has to change.

[00:37:17] You know, I mean, there's going to be a lot of question

[00:37:20] going, I think the next season and with the devils too, because we've

[00:37:23] bought up on this show.

[00:37:24] Like there's a couple of guys that I'm wondering, you know, what

[00:37:26] doubt, what is the real player?

[00:37:28] And then, because this year was such a, you know, you can't

[00:37:31] judge every look at Sharon Govich.

[00:37:32] You can't judge it.

[00:37:33] Maybe they'll go somewhere else and be great or maybe they'll

[00:37:35] come back to us and be great.

[00:37:36] Um, it's just, I really hope we make some moves.

[00:37:40] I think we do like at least three, three moves this year.

[00:37:43] Like you said, definitely a defenseman.

[00:37:45] Um, I would like to see a surprise this off season too.

[00:37:48] I would like to see us get a guy that you would have never

[00:37:51] expect us grabbing, you know, you mentioned Stamkos.

[00:37:53] I'll take a Stamkos on this team.

[00:37:55] I'll take a guy like that.

[00:37:56] You know, Stamkos playing with Jack Hughes is pretty, uh,

[00:38:01] that's something that could be really exciting.

[00:38:03] Yeah.

[00:38:03] Just keep Marner out of here.

[00:38:05] Yeah.

[00:38:05] I mean, uh, I, I'm, I'd like Stamkos of course, Brady

[00:38:08] Kachuk, uh, you know, he's the guy I want whether or not

[00:38:11] we can actually get them.

[00:38:13] Um, hang on one second.

[00:38:16] No, did you kind of feel glad now Chris that, so

[00:38:18] for like you said a couple of minutes ago, I don't believe

[00:38:21] we would have had to run in this playoffs.

[00:38:22] Like I do believe we are not built for the special to face

[00:38:24] these teams that are in the playoffs right now.

[00:38:26] So I am actually kind of I'm okay.

[00:38:29] I hate missing them.

[00:38:30] You never want to miss the playoffs.

[00:38:31] It's like one that you just don't want to do it.

[00:38:33] Cause we've had so many quote draft picks and this and that, but

[00:38:37] I believe us getting the draft pick early next season and not

[00:38:40] going out and blowing our load on a goalie it's probably going

[00:38:44] to come back to help us a little bit because I don't think we

[00:38:46] would have, I think we needed a few more pieces than we believe

[00:38:49] to actually be able to compete with some of these teams.

[00:38:51] I agree.

[00:38:52] And I think that I do think that if this off season is done,

[00:38:55] right, the devils are going to be right back in it next year

[00:38:58] as one of the best teams in the metropolitan division.

[00:39:01] I believe that and they have to stay healthy.

[00:39:03] And, uh, I, I do think that their next season is going to

[00:39:07] look a lot different than this season and there, you know,

[00:39:11] the one thing that I think I got, I gleaned most out of this

[00:39:16] season was, wow, we are really just a really young, inexperienced

[00:39:22] team and that's what it came down to.

[00:39:24] And maybe you need, um, you know, maybe you need to not make the

[00:39:30] playoffs after a really successful season, you know, to

[00:39:33] really get yourself going.

[00:39:34] Maybe that's what you need.

[00:39:35] Maybe I just hope that all these guys left, uh, their exit

[00:39:39] interviews and they left that building this summer with just

[00:39:41] a really bad taste in their mouth that they never ever,

[00:39:43] ever want to feel that way again.

[00:39:46] And, you know, a lot of the guys said all the right things.

[00:39:48] Uh, it seems like a lot of guys are taking it seriously where

[00:39:51] some of them that are a little bit banged up or saying, you

[00:39:53] know what, we're not going to play in any tournaments over

[00:39:56] the summer, we're not going to, we're just going to get

[00:39:58] our bodies and minds right for the season.

[00:40:00] And then it's up to, you know, I believe that the players

[00:40:03] are going to come in ready to go.

[00:40:04] Um, let's hope that the head coaching higher is the right

[00:40:08] one and, uh, that Tom Fitzgerald can pull off a couple of

[00:40:13] moves this summer to get this team, you know, what they

[00:40:15] need, because I just think that you can't go into, um, the

[00:40:20] season with just Jake Allen and whoever is our, you know,

[00:40:24] going to be his backup.

[00:40:25] Like Jake Allen needs to be the one B or the backup,

[00:40:28] whatever the hell you want to call them.

[00:40:30] But, um,

[00:40:33] I'm hoping they look at, and I actually made a little

[00:40:35] thing here like I'm sorry, cause I knew it was going to

[00:40:37] be me and you today.

[00:40:38] Just, they can look at some of their former teammates who

[00:40:40] are actually in the playoffs this year.

[00:40:42] Hopefully that'll motivate them a little bit because, so I

[00:40:44] was looking at you.

[00:40:45] Yeah.

[00:40:45] Who's in the playoffs from the old devils?

[00:40:48] I believe there was nine, if I, if I calculate it right

[00:40:50] guys right now.

[00:40:51] So, uh, now just some of these guys are just role players,

[00:40:53] but some of them I actually did enjoy on the team.

[00:40:55] You have Jimmy VC obviously is, you know, has a goal

[00:40:57] on assistant these playoffs right now and he's still

[00:40:59] in them.

[00:41:00] Miles would who, Hey, he's got two goals right now,

[00:41:02] you know, on the playoffs.

[00:41:03] He's up playing about 12 minutes a game, but, uh,

[00:41:07] you have Parisi Zach Parisi, which I've kind of torn,

[00:41:11] you know, Colorado because as much as Parisi stung us,

[00:41:14] you know, there's certain guys you wouldn't mind maybe

[00:41:16] seeing win, but you got pre-season over there.

[00:41:18] He has two goals right now, you know, with that.

[00:41:20] He's playing all right.

[00:41:21] Yeah.

[00:41:21] Paul Mary obviously done in the playoffs, but I know

[00:41:24] you're not a big Paul Mary guy, but, uh, he had, I

[00:41:26] think, I think he had two goals in the playoffs.

[00:41:29] This is, uh, Stefan to Wayson three goals.

[00:41:33] Yeah.

[00:41:33] He's clutch dude.

[00:41:35] Yeah.

[00:41:35] I mean, I liked him when we had them and he's that

[00:41:38] type of guy you need in the playoffs.

[00:41:39] Like he's that role player that shows up in the

[00:41:42] playoffs and it was

[00:41:43] that way about VC too.

[00:41:45] And I know I mentioned them on the show a few times,

[00:41:46] but I feel like that's one of those guys too.

[00:41:47] That's always good to have on your roster.

[00:41:49] Like, uh, you know, um, he's got that little bit

[00:41:51] of snarl to him.

[00:41:52] Pablo Zaca who I do root for Pablo Zaca.

[00:41:54] I know some people were glad he's gone and I

[00:41:56] get it, but I have, I do root for the guy.

[00:41:58] I mean, he's, uh, got two assists, you know,

[00:42:01] he's, um, he's playing 18 minutes a night.

[00:42:03] Jesper Boquist, you know, he, uh, he's been in

[00:42:06] every game so far for Boston.

[00:42:07] Jesper the lesser is what we call him.

[00:42:09] Yeah.

[00:42:10] He's, he's been in every playoff, uh, Pat

[00:42:12] Maroon.

[00:42:12] I mean, who wins a cup pretty much wherever he

[00:42:14] goes.

[00:42:14] That is, you know, so I mean, you know, Maroon

[00:42:17] who with the devils, it was kind of a bummer

[00:42:20] with him because I felt like he didn't want

[00:42:21] to be there from day one.

[00:42:23] Yeah, I know.

[00:42:24] I liked Pat Maroon.

[00:42:25] I liked him with Tampa.

[00:42:26] Um, you know, the guys, a winner and just

[00:42:29] a tough, tough dude.

[00:42:31] Um, he played, he's been in every game

[00:42:33] so far for Boston.

[00:42:34] I think he has two, he has two assists, um,

[00:42:37] and Tyler Toffoli obviously with, uh, he

[00:42:39] had two goals in the playoffs.

[00:42:40] He's obviously not there anymore.

[00:42:42] Um, and you know, obviously we could see

[00:42:43] Toffoli come back again, but I just

[00:42:45] wonder if like some of these, especially

[00:42:46] there's some younger players like Bo

[00:42:47] Quist and you know, a lot of these guys

[00:42:49] like Nico and Em grew up with some of

[00:42:51] these guys playing with them, like the

[00:42:52] Zoccas and stuff.

[00:42:53] So hopefully that motivates them a

[00:42:54] little bit looking out and saying,

[00:42:55] wow, there's a bunch of us who are

[00:42:56] actually still in this playoffs.

[00:42:59] Henrique, did you mention him?

[00:43:00] Oh, I didn't mention Henrique.

[00:43:02] Yeah.

[00:43:02] And he's had a hell of a playoffs

[00:43:03] with that's not, that's why you can't

[00:43:05] hate against Edmonton.

[00:43:06] Like I kinda, kinda, you know, kinda

[00:43:09] thinking, I don't mind if Adam wins,

[00:43:10] man. I'm always loved Henrique.

[00:43:13] How did you, when he left the

[00:43:13] Rangers, were you the Devils?

[00:43:15] Did that really just bum you out?

[00:43:16] Yeah, it did.

[00:43:17] Um, and I liked Sammy Votten and,

[00:43:19] and, uh, you know, I don't remember

[00:43:21] who else we got, but I know

[00:43:22] Votten was the big name in the,

[00:43:23] in the deal, but you know, uh,

[00:43:25] Adam Henrique is a special player

[00:43:27] and you know, again, we talked about

[00:43:30] it, there's that group of Devils

[00:43:32] that are going to be forgotten that

[00:43:33] were fan favorites and really great

[00:43:35] Devils and Adam Henrique is one of

[00:43:37] them. And, uh, I do hope I'd like

[00:43:39] to see him win the cup, but see,

[00:43:41] as far as Devil fans go, like,

[00:43:43] we're doing great in the playoffs.

[00:43:44] Listen to all those, those guys

[00:43:46] you just mentioned. Devils are

[00:43:47] killing it in the playoffs.

[00:43:48] And Adam Henrique, how about when

[00:43:50] he came back and flipped the puck

[00:43:51] over Votten's head?

[00:43:52] That was, yeah, that was just

[00:43:54] him harassing.

[00:43:55] Yeah.

[00:43:55] Again, how'd that trade work out,

[00:43:57] guys? Um, before we, before we

[00:44:00] actually wrap it up, unfortunately,

[00:44:02] I have to go get ready for work

[00:44:03] soon, but, uh, I was, the other

[00:44:05] morning I was watching and you

[00:44:07] would appreciate this. There was an

[00:44:09] E 60, a documentary on ESPN and

[00:44:12] it was the, it was basically

[00:44:15] about, it was a, the way that

[00:44:17] they set it up. It was, uh, on

[00:44:19] a stage. They had some players,

[00:44:21] hockey players. I'll tell you

[00:44:22] who they were in a second.

[00:44:23] And they were showing the games

[00:44:25] and the clips from 1997,

[00:44:28] Colorado Detroit, when Claude

[00:44:30] the Mew destroyed Chris Draper

[00:44:32] on the, on the dashboards and

[00:44:34] busted up his face. And the,

[00:44:39] like, all right. So that happens.

[00:44:43] That was a regular season game.

[00:44:44] I'm almost positive.

[00:44:45] But Bowman, Bowman got on the

[00:44:47] bus and tried to actually on the

[00:44:48] Colorado bus that fired up on

[00:44:51] that one. Yeah.

[00:44:52] But then like Darren McCarty,

[00:44:55] um, who was on that red wing

[00:44:56] team and they had played,

[00:44:58] played a couple of games

[00:44:59] afterwards in Colorado and

[00:45:01] there were no repercussions

[00:45:03] because it was in their

[00:45:04] building and everything. So they

[00:45:05] were playing like March,

[00:45:07] whatever the date was. And

[00:45:08] that was the last game of the

[00:45:10] season. Detroit had not

[00:45:12] beaten Colorado, who was the

[00:45:14] cup defending cup champion

[00:45:17] the whole year. Their guy gets

[00:45:19] completely destroyed by Claude

[00:45:21] the Mew. There's no

[00:45:22] retaliation, no nothing.

[00:45:25] So the days or a week or so

[00:45:29] before the final game of

[00:45:30] the season in Detroit, um,

[00:45:34] the whole Detroit media is

[00:45:36] on them. Like you guys,

[00:45:37] this has got to be a payback

[00:45:38] game. This is as you have,

[00:45:40] you cannot let Claude the Mew

[00:45:41] just come in here and do

[00:45:42] whatever the hell he wants.

[00:45:43] We can't be.

[00:45:44] They were getting police

[00:45:44] protection into the stadiums

[00:45:46] for those games.

[00:45:47] Detroit. Yeah. Colorado had

[00:45:49] a police escort into the

[00:45:51] building. They were getting

[00:45:52] death threats. And then when

[00:45:55] all hell broke loose and

[00:45:57] Darren McCarty knocked Claude

[00:45:59] the Mew on his ass, just

[00:46:01] cold cocked them, busted

[00:46:03] them wide open and Mike

[00:46:05] Vernon and Patrick Watt.

[00:46:06] That was awesome.

[00:46:07] They were getting the shit

[00:46:08] out of each other and the

[00:46:09] whole fucking melee.

[00:46:11] It was a bloodbath.

[00:46:12] It goes to overtime and

[00:46:14] McCarty wins the game

[00:46:15] winner, scores the game

[00:46:17] winner and they finally

[00:46:19] get that Colorado avalanche

[00:46:20] monkey off their back.

[00:46:21] But hearing McCarty Draper

[00:46:24] um, and the Mew, they

[00:46:26] were all there together

[00:46:27] talking about it.

[00:46:28] It was, they do signings

[00:46:29] together. They do actually

[00:46:30] Claude and McCarty

[00:46:31] actually go to signings

[00:46:33] for charity and you have

[00:46:34] to give Claude credit

[00:46:35] because even okay, yeah,

[00:46:36] they've done the ice.

[00:46:37] There's a lot of, but I

[00:46:39] believe I'm not saying he

[00:46:40] would have beat him, but

[00:46:42] I think Claude kind of

[00:46:43] took his, took his ass

[00:46:44] whooping like, okay,

[00:46:45] man, let me just let you

[00:46:46] do this. Um, you know,

[00:46:49] I mean, Claude the Mew,

[00:46:49] Hey, anybody listening to

[00:46:51] the show, you want to

[00:46:52] see the greatest

[00:46:52] Claude the Mew highlight

[00:46:53] look up, um, Brett

[00:46:55] Lindros, Claude the

[00:46:56] Mew soccer, punchering

[00:46:57] Brett Lindros on the

[00:46:58] bench against the Islanders

[00:47:01] sitting on the bench.

[00:47:02] They push over Lindros.

[00:47:03] He's leaning over the

[00:47:04] bench. Claude the Mew

[00:47:04] just gives him an

[00:47:05] uppercut looks around

[00:47:06] like a kid in school.

[00:47:07] Like the teacher's not

[00:47:08] watching. It was such

[00:47:10] a dick. It was awesome.

[00:47:12] Yeah. One of my

[00:47:13] favorite players ever.

[00:47:14] Yeah. I mean, uh, and,

[00:47:16] and you know, Detroit's

[00:47:17] biggest problem was they

[00:47:19] felt, you know, the

[00:47:20] dude never even said

[00:47:21] he was sorry. Like that

[00:47:22] was their biggest issue.

[00:47:24] Like this would not

[00:47:25] have gotten here. If

[00:47:26] you would've just called

[00:47:27] Draper and been like,

[00:47:28] dude, I apologize, man.

[00:47:29] I didn't, and mean to

[00:47:31] break your face in half,

[00:47:32] but you know, he never

[00:47:33] did. Um, and it was

[00:47:35] funny because then in

[00:47:37] 97 in Detroit, they

[00:47:39] brought Brandon

[00:47:40] Shanahan in. So

[00:47:42] Shanahan had never won

[00:47:43] a cup and they're

[00:47:44] talking about how, you

[00:47:45] know, Shanahan saying,

[00:47:47] you know, Claude and I

[00:47:47] played together in New

[00:47:49] Jersey and he's my

[00:47:50] friend, you know?

[00:47:51] And it was weird going

[00:47:52] into this game because

[00:47:54] it was all eyes on

[00:47:55] Claude the Mew.

[00:47:56] And I'm like, you

[00:47:56] know, the elephant in

[00:47:58] the room is, yeah,

[00:47:59] Shani played with them

[00:48:00] and their buddies, but

[00:48:01] they got out for their

[00:48:03] skate and he skated

[00:48:04] past Lemieux and Lemieux

[00:48:06] looks at Shanahan and

[00:48:07] goes, you're fucking

[00:48:08] garbage. You never

[00:48:09] fucking won anything

[00:48:10] and skated away.

[00:48:11] And Shanahan was like,

[00:48:12] all right, I guess I'm

[00:48:13] in this thing now.

[00:48:15] Yeah, you know, and

[00:48:16] I think it was Lemieux

[00:48:17] then Danico if you

[00:48:18] read an old book out

[00:48:19] about the devil's

[00:48:19] locker room. And if I

[00:48:20] forget the name of it,

[00:48:21] but I think the first

[00:48:22] week that Claude was

[00:48:24] a devil him and Danico

[00:48:25] had to be separated

[00:48:26] in the locker room.

[00:48:27] That's awesome.

[00:48:27] Fist fighting.

[00:48:28] You know, it was just

[00:48:29] the way. But yeah,

[00:48:30] I mean, that was the

[00:48:30] way back then. And I,

[00:48:31] Claude Lemieux for

[00:48:33] us as a devil fan, the

[00:48:34] guy came here twice and

[00:48:35] won Stanley Cups.

[00:48:36] I mean, you know,

[00:48:37] he just, I hated

[00:48:39] seeing him go.

[00:48:39] I loved Claude Lemieux.

[00:48:40] He was, he was a guy

[00:48:41] that I remember being

[00:48:42] in your basement, Chris

[00:48:43] watching him score that

[00:48:44] goal off of the backboards.

[00:48:46] I think it was against

[00:48:47] Philly. I believe it

[00:48:48] was. And

[00:48:49] when I had you chained

[00:48:50] up in my basement,

[00:48:51] that's right.

[00:48:51] I gave you a little TV

[00:48:53] to watch hockey.

[00:48:54] I had to tap that

[00:48:54] little bell three times

[00:48:55] to get some.

[00:48:57] Yeah, I mean, I'll

[00:48:58] never forget that.

[00:48:59] You know,

[00:48:59] my little human centipede.

[00:49:02] You too in the

[00:49:03] background.

[00:49:04] But yeah, I mean,

[00:49:07] hey, that was the guy

[00:49:08] that if you wanted to

[00:49:09] win, you had

[00:49:10] Claude Lemieux and

[00:49:11] Claude Lemieux was a

[00:49:11] nightmare for Detroit

[00:49:12] in a lot of ways too.

[00:49:13] I mean,

[00:49:14] how many guys won

[00:49:15] four cups with three

[00:49:16] different teams?

[00:49:17] Like that's impressive,

[00:49:18] man. You know,

[00:49:19] he was and look,

[00:49:21] man, you know,

[00:49:23] Timo Meyer is his guy.

[00:49:24] So I'm really hoping

[00:49:26] that we see a little

[00:49:27] bit of that in the

[00:49:28] future from Timo.

[00:49:30] So that would be

[00:49:31] there. It could happen.

[00:49:32] I mean, it has it in him.

[00:49:33] It is there.

[00:49:34] I don't know if he's

[00:49:34] that much of a complete prick.

[00:49:36] I was going to say,

[00:49:37] I think these days you can't

[00:49:38] everyone's a little too.

[00:49:39] I think you would

[00:49:40] get in trouble these days.

[00:49:41] Yeah, I mean,

[00:49:42] players who smoke with cigarettes.

[00:49:43] Yeah, Claude relished

[00:49:45] just being a douchebag.

[00:49:46] And, you know,

[00:49:48] if you ever there's a podcast,

[00:49:49] I believe it's

[00:49:50] the Spit and Chicklets podcast.

[00:49:51] And it was one of the ones

[00:49:53] that Goemer was on.

[00:49:54] Scotty Gomez was on.

[00:49:55] And he tells some

[00:49:57] great Claude Lemieux stories.

[00:49:59] I heard some of those.

[00:50:00] Yeah, just and it's

[00:50:01] a lot of fun.

[00:50:02] But real quick,

[00:50:04] you know who impressed me

[00:50:05] in that Toronto series a lot?

[00:50:07] And he's a free agent this year.

[00:50:08] I don't know if he's a guy

[00:50:09] that would mix up well

[00:50:10] with the Devils

[00:50:11] because he's smaller and stuff.

[00:50:12] But Max Domi played

[00:50:14] a hell of a series.

[00:50:17] He was amazing on the blue line,

[00:50:18] I mean, on the face off dots.

[00:50:20] I mean, he was killing it

[00:50:22] and playing really good.

[00:50:24] And I'm like,

[00:50:24] I'm watching this dude

[00:50:25] and thinking, hmm, wonder.

[00:50:27] The only thing with Domi,

[00:50:28] these players,

[00:50:28] but he has some

[00:50:29] takes a bad penalty sometimes.

[00:50:30] But he you could totally

[00:50:32] this is a guy

[00:50:32] we can use five of these guys

[00:50:33] on our team.

[00:50:34] Yeah, I mean, he is not his dad,

[00:50:36] but he is

[00:50:37] he's a very good player.

[00:50:39] I had no idea

[00:50:40] he was that good at faceoffs.

[00:50:41] I mean, he was owning Boston.

[00:50:43] He took a penalty the other night

[00:50:45] on this play, you know,

[00:50:46] but early in the series

[00:50:47] and Ty was at the game

[00:50:49] and I looked so fucking annoyed

[00:50:51] like because Ty knew

[00:50:52] like this is the word

[00:50:53] like you could just see like that.

[00:50:55] He knew that this was

[00:50:55] a really bad penalty to take

[00:50:57] and that was kind of cool

[00:50:58] seeing him out there.

[00:50:58] You know, Domi Ty,

[00:51:00] he was a son of a bitch, right?

[00:51:01] I mean, but he he said

[00:51:03] some shit about Stevens.

[00:51:04] I know he's basically called out

[00:51:05] Stevens and Stevens

[00:51:06] wouldn't fight all these things.

[00:51:07] But Domi was a force

[00:51:08] to be reckoned with.

[00:51:09] I mean, I have had a lot of battles.

[00:51:12] No doubt.

[00:51:13] But it's another game seven, Chris.

[00:51:14] I know you have to go to work,

[00:51:15] but you got to probably mention

[00:51:16] the Edmonton Vancouver.

[00:51:19] Edmonton, Vancouver, that's right.

[00:51:21] We are going to see

[00:51:21] an Edmonton Vancouver series.

[00:51:23] Canada will be

[00:51:24] a game seven.

[00:51:25] The other playoff teams.

[00:51:28] I mean, I kind of have to

[00:51:30] let's see Skinner

[00:51:33] in the regular season will do him

[00:51:34] do these guys real quick.

[00:51:36] He had 36 wins.

[00:51:37] He had a two point six

[00:51:39] two goals against

[00:51:40] and a nine oh five save percentage.

[00:51:41] He's four and one in the playoffs

[00:51:43] with a nine ten

[00:51:44] save percentage and a two

[00:51:45] point five nine goals against.

[00:51:47] So his numbers came down.

[00:51:49] They had Talbot and Riddich

[00:51:51] both played playoff games.

[00:51:54] Talbot had twenty seven

[00:51:55] wins on the regular season.

[00:51:56] I'm talking about that's the Kings.

[00:51:57] What am I doing here?

[00:51:58] Going back to Vancouver.

[00:51:59] So you go into Demko

[00:52:00] and then I think of Vancouver.

[00:52:01] De Smith and Seeles.

[00:52:04] So, you know, OK, Demko

[00:52:07] in the playoffs is one and oh,

[00:52:09] he's not playing.

[00:52:10] It doesn't matter,

[00:52:11] but he had a nine

[00:52:12] seventeen save percentage

[00:52:13] and two goals against.

[00:52:14] De Smith was one and one

[00:52:16] with a nine eleven

[00:52:17] save percentage

[00:52:17] and a two oh two goals against.

[00:52:19] And then Seeles, who's

[00:52:20] I don't even think is

[00:52:21] I'm not sure if I'm

[00:52:22] saying his name right

[00:52:24] in the regular season.

[00:52:25] He was three oh and one

[00:52:26] with a two four seven goals against

[00:52:28] any what was his save percentage?

[00:52:31] Eight one five save percentage.

[00:52:33] Now he's at his two and one

[00:52:35] with a one point seven goals against

[00:52:37] in a nine three eight save percentage.

[00:52:39] That's one of the higher

[00:52:40] save percentages

[00:52:42] in the playoffs so far.

[00:52:46] I'm going to go Vancouver.

[00:52:48] I'm just really, really.

[00:52:51] I like Edmonton

[00:52:52] and I want to see Henrique do well

[00:52:54] and I'm big on the McDavid

[00:52:56] already has 12 points

[00:52:58] and fucking 11 number assists.

[00:53:00] You know, I don't know, man,

[00:53:01] just drives down on him.

[00:53:02] I'm 10.

[00:53:02] The drives down to five and five, six, five.

[00:53:04] I think it's five goals, five assists too.

[00:53:07] I don't think we're going to see

[00:53:08] any four or five game series

[00:53:09] in around two, I'll tell you that.

[00:53:11] No, I just I really want Adam to win, too,

[00:53:14] like you said, but I just think Edmonton.

[00:53:17] Edmonton is just better.

[00:53:20] Goal tending.

[00:53:21] It's going to come down

[00:53:22] to go tending again.

[00:53:23] All these series,

[00:53:24] that's what's coming down to.

[00:53:25] That came down.

[00:53:26] Our season came down to two.

[00:53:28] Just ended, you know, on the end of the schedule.

[00:53:31] Well, that's a tough one for me, man.

[00:53:34] Vancouver is tough.

[00:53:36] And who else we got?

[00:53:39] Because, well, we got to wait for the Vegas Dallas Vegas.

[00:53:42] Yeah, did you say who you're taking tonight?

[00:53:44] What's that?

[00:53:45] Who are you taking in the game seven

[00:53:46] for Vegas and Dallas?

[00:53:48] Man, I'm going to go with Dallas

[00:53:52] only because it's in Dallas.

[00:53:55] Did you pick Dallas as your winner this this?

[00:53:59] So let's see.

[00:53:59] I thought we all picked Vegas for some reason.

[00:54:01] I thought Toronto, I think Dan picked Toronto, though.

[00:54:03] I think that was the only thing completely different.

[00:54:05] I thought I need to keep track of this shit.

[00:54:11] So Dallas, I took the Stars in six.

[00:54:14] I was wrong.

[00:54:15] Bobby took the Stars in six.

[00:54:16] Dan took the Stars in six.

[00:54:18] You took the Stars in seven and stars in six.

[00:54:22] So you're the only one that can hit on that.

[00:54:25] Go Stars.

[00:54:26] None of us took Vegas.

[00:54:27] And the Vancouver, Nashville series.

[00:54:32] I took Vancouver in five.

[00:54:35] You took Vancouver in six.

[00:54:37] Dan took them in five.

[00:54:39] Tim took them in six.

[00:54:40] Bobby took them in five.

[00:54:42] What was that? That series went what?

[00:54:44] I don't know what that was.

[00:54:45] I think it was five, I thought.

[00:54:47] I got to recheck that.

[00:54:48] Yeah, because Skinner went four and one in that series,

[00:54:51] I think you said so.

[00:54:51] Yeah, you're right.

[00:54:53] Yeah, Skinner was four and one, so that went five.

[00:54:55] That's right. They knocked out.

[00:54:56] Yeah, they.

[00:54:57] But well, no, that's the Edmonton one.

[00:54:59] I'm not talking about that.

[00:55:00] Talking about the Vancouver.

[00:55:02] Oh, that's what happens when you seven o'clock in the morning.

[00:55:05] We're all I know talking about the 1994 series and.

[00:55:09] Let's say, yeah, Nashville.

[00:55:11] I think that was I think Nashville got swept, maybe, no?

[00:55:14] No, it was.

[00:55:16] Did they win one game out of that?

[00:55:19] Six, it went six.

[00:55:20] Oh, yeah, because if you had Demko had what he played a one game, right?

[00:55:24] And he played in one.

[00:55:29] The Smith played in two and Seelers played in three.

[00:55:32] Yeah, it's two and one.

[00:55:33] One six. Yeah.

[00:55:34] The Winnipeg, Colorado, that went five.

[00:55:41] Dan's the only one that took, you know,

[00:55:43] the you and Dan took the abs in seven and we all took

[00:55:47] the rest of us took the Jets in seven and it was the abs in five.

[00:55:51] And they took Toronto too, right?

[00:55:53] Uh, I think he did.

[00:55:56] I think he was the only one to Toronto.

[00:55:58] I remember being like, wow, I know he's usually hard on Toronto,

[00:56:00] but I think he did take them.

[00:56:02] Dan took Toronto in seven.

[00:56:05] I took Boston in six.

[00:56:06] You took Boston in seven.

[00:56:08] Tim took Toronto in six and Bobby took Boston in seven.

[00:56:11] So you and Bobby nailed that one.

[00:56:13] You know, Mr. B. Yeah.

[00:56:15] So yeah, we're going to wrap this thing up.

[00:56:18] This was a fun little quick episode, little quick go over.

[00:56:21] We want to talk a little bit since round two starting today,

[00:56:25] we are going to actually be back tomorrow.

[00:56:27] Not sure about the time, hopefully a full lineup.

[00:56:30] And we'll talk about whatever games happen today.

[00:56:34] Everything coming up in the next week or so where we have.

[00:56:37] I've had a devil, you know, on deck now for like two weeks.

[00:56:40] Is it your I thought it was my turn.

[00:56:42] Is it your turn next? Yeah, it's mine.

[00:56:43] OK, cool. I've had it.

[00:56:44] So yeah, we'll get back into that.

[00:56:47] Hopefully when when the guys all get back, it's a rough time of year.

[00:56:51] Everyone's traveling right now and, you know, it's ending

[00:56:54] and everyone's got graduation coming up and prom and schlepping

[00:56:57] all over the fucking place.

[00:56:58] So yeah, it's my time.

[00:57:00] I apologize.

[00:57:01] I would I you know, when there's a game,

[00:57:02] I'm usually always on in the late nights if we do it.

[00:57:05] But just hard when there's no game sometimes and, you know,

[00:57:08] bus circle in the morning.

[00:57:09] I can definitely do,

[00:57:12] you know, Sunday mornings, even if it's just me and you,

[00:57:15] we do a quick little Sunday show and bang it out.

[00:57:18] Yeah, I can do this before work.

[00:57:19] So no problem for me. All right.

[00:57:21] So wherever you guys are listening to us, we really appreciate you.

[00:57:24] Give us a like a positive review, a five star rating, a download, a subscription.

[00:57:31] We really do appreciate it.

[00:57:32] And it helps us push this little podcast that could.

[00:57:35] I forgot to read my draft king script.

[00:57:37] So, you know, and Chris, I have one little thing for you.

[00:57:40] I know you have to go, but you do it.

[00:57:42] You Sunday.

[00:57:43] If we do Sunday, you know how I do it.

[00:57:45] If we do Sunday mornings, we could do a Sunday preview football show.

[00:57:48] Me and you for a 10 minutes, a poker show.

[00:57:51] We can always throw in a 10 minutes for everybody who cares out there.

[00:57:53] I was thinking a little bit more than.

[00:57:56] Oh, yeah, we could do that, too.

[00:57:57] What we were talking about.

[00:57:59] I was thinking Tuesdays mean you can hop on to an hour,

[00:58:04] talk about the football games the week before and the ones coming up

[00:58:06] and just bullshit, but we could definitely.

[00:58:08] Yeah, we can always do it.

[00:58:10] If we do Sundays, we can always do a little 10 minute

[00:58:12] preview here to if the football listeners wanted to, you know, check it.

[00:58:16] Because both of us are out of the four of us were the two that carry

[00:58:19] the other two do not give a shit.

[00:58:20] They don't give a shit.

[00:58:21] And we are football guys, but I cannot wait for this football season.

[00:58:25] Oh, yeah. I'm excited to be disappointed.

[00:58:28] Yeah, I'm excited to be disappointed as well.

[00:58:30] I'll tell you, though, I am I am very interested

[00:58:34] to see Sam Darnold on this Viking team.

[00:58:38] I mean. You guys in the Bears, the best draft, like I said, man,

[00:58:42] I would be excited if I was you.

[00:58:44] I am very excited.

[00:58:45] I am like for the first time, like since we moved on from cousins

[00:58:49] and now it's like the first year we actually had money to spend

[00:58:53] because it wasn't all going to our subpar quarterback

[00:58:55] who can't win a fucking playoff game.

[00:58:57] So I'm not bitter at all.

[00:58:59] But anyway, you know, picking up Bernard and Van Ginkle and Cashman

[00:59:03] and then having the draft that they did, I'm just super psyched.

[00:59:08] And I cannot wait to see now.

[00:59:10] You just got to lock up Justin Jefferson

[00:59:12] and what the hell happens to the cousins now?

[00:59:15] You think he winds up like moving?

[00:59:18] I mean, this guy's got to be wondering what the fuck just happened.

[00:59:21] Yeah, I think he you know, this is what happens

[00:59:24] when you're a player who is only motivated by money.

[00:59:28] And that is Kirk Cousins to a T.

[00:59:31] Came to Minnesota because Minnesota offered him the most money.

[00:59:35] So that's why I scratched my head when all these Viking fans

[00:59:40] are up in arms saying, how could he leave us like that?

[00:59:42] How can he go and go to Atlanta?

[00:59:45] Like, you don't remember six years ago, like this dude was a mercenary

[00:59:48] who came here for the money.

[00:59:49] So of course, whoever was going to offer him the most.

[00:59:52] And I think he was sold a bill of goods.

[00:59:54] I think he was told, like, we love you.

[00:59:56] You're our guy. We're going to go into this draft.

[00:59:58] We're going to get a little bit more help for you.

[01:00:00] Or we're going to bolster our defense.

[01:00:02] Like, look, Dallas Turner was mocked to them in like

[01:00:04] almost every other draft that I saw.

[01:00:07] And at number eight, you go and take Michael Pennings.

[01:00:09] It just made no sense.

[01:00:12] It never will make sense.

[01:00:13] It just why take cousins then?

[01:00:16] And it's got to be and money kills.

[01:00:18] I mean, I saw it with I don't know if you remember Osama.

[01:00:20] But the Raiders had him.

[01:00:21] He went to Philly and that was the end of Osama's career pretty much.

[01:00:23] You know, I mean, sometimes you just I don't know.

[01:00:26] Sometimes the money isn't the best thing.

[01:00:27] No. And I'm sure that Cousins right now is sitting at home going,

[01:00:31] what the hell did I do? Vikings offered me a deal.

[01:00:34] It was a two year deal.

[01:00:36] You know, I could have read probably renegotiated with them after the year,

[01:00:39] retired a Viking, been probably their their leading quarterback.

[01:00:43] You know, most statistics other, you know, maybe right beyond

[01:00:46] Fran Tarkin and a lot of them.

[01:00:47] But this is what happens.

[01:00:50] You went because two hundred and eighty million dollars

[01:00:53] in your bank account wasn't enough.

[01:00:54] You had to fucking go for the money.

[01:00:56] And this is what you get to.

[01:00:57] You know, Minnesota did everything to get the best out of Kirk.

[01:01:01] And what that means is you make sure that there's nobody

[01:01:04] in that dressing room that can challenge him for a job.

[01:01:07] That's why our backup quarterbacks are Nick Mullins and Sean Manion

[01:01:10] and Jaren Hall, you know, garbage guys that are never going to take your job.

[01:01:14] I don't want to call Jaren Hall garbage.

[01:01:16] He's a prospect, so he's young.

[01:01:17] But, you know, that aren't going to take your job.

[01:01:20] It's got to be constantly patted on the back and told what a great job

[01:01:25] he's doing, and we can't do this without you, Kirk.

[01:01:28] And you're the lifeblood of our team.

[01:01:29] And we saw Kirk Cousins have a little bit of a Renaissance

[01:01:32] last couple of years. His personality came out.

[01:01:34] People like them.

[01:01:35] You know, he's wearing the chains, he's dancing, he's doing commercials,

[01:01:38] all this stuff like we got him out of his shell to be comfortable.

[01:01:41] And his play, you know, showed that on the field.

[01:01:44] He was playing great football two years ago.

[01:01:47] Eight come from behind fourth quarter victories, making the playoffs.

[01:01:51] Last year, having MVP type numbers before the injury.

[01:01:55] Now you go to Atlanta where you have no equity with that team.

[01:01:59] They don't fucking know you from Adam.

[01:02:01] You're walking in and you're the guy that's getting 100 million dollars

[01:02:05] who doesn't work on Tuesdays.

[01:02:07] Kirk Cousins does not work on Tuesdays.

[01:02:09] That is when every quarterback sits down with the head coach

[01:02:12] and the offensive coordinators and come up with the game plan.

[01:02:15] He doesn't work on Tuesdays because that's Family Day.

[01:02:18] You know who's going to work on Tuesdays?

[01:02:19] Michael Pennings is going to work on Tuesdays.

[01:02:22] Michael and Brady worked on Tuesdays, I guarantee you that.

[01:02:25] Yeah. Michael Pennings is going to be there every Tuesday.

[01:02:27] And it's like I said on the last show with Dan,

[01:02:30] who do you think these teammates in Atlanta are going to gravitate to?

[01:02:33] The soccer dad or Michael Pennings?

[01:02:36] And Cousins kind of reminds me not even of his play,

[01:02:38] but he kind of has that Derek Carr.

[01:02:39] Like how far can he actually get to work?

[01:02:41] Is he going to win ever?

[01:02:42] It's just going to be that guy who's a decent,

[01:02:44] a good quarterback, but can never get that far.

[01:02:46] Is he at the end of the day? Can he win a Super Bowl?

[01:02:48] You know what?

[01:02:49] I hope you go and I kind of I think I think Carr could have early on

[01:02:54] that there was one season where he got hurt, obviously snapped his leg.

[01:02:56] I think that was their year.

[01:02:58] But he's another guy.

[01:02:58] I don't think that he's going to he can't just get to that.

[01:03:02] No, I think Carr mentally has been beaten up so bad.

[01:03:06] I think the Raiders damaged him pretty well.

[01:03:08] It's what they do.

[01:03:10] You know, so again, do I think that Kirk can win it?

[01:03:14] No, he's he's he's won one playoff game.

[01:03:18] He's been a starter in this league for 10 years and he's won one playoff game.

[01:03:22] You know, when when the season's on the line

[01:03:25] and it's fourth and eight and you got to convert,

[01:03:29] this dude checks down to a tight end five yards short of the sticks.

[01:03:34] It just you know, that's that's Kirk.

[01:03:36] He will have trouble McCarthy being Kirk and and and J.J.

[01:03:40] McCarthy would have chucked that fucking ball to Jefferson

[01:03:44] if there were six guys on him or he would have ran for it.

[01:03:47] He would have done.

[01:03:47] He would have tried to make a play.

[01:03:49] You know, something to be excited about, not have to worry about

[01:03:53] where are we going to fall apart?

[01:03:54] Now you have something to have a little bit of hope and excitement.

[01:03:56] And so it's going to be, you know, I think that's change is always good sometimes.

[01:03:59] And, you know, I mean, I think with the Vikings,

[01:04:01] I think J.J. McCarthy is going to be a guy you guys are going to be rooting for for a while.

[01:04:06] I can't wait to see him play.

[01:04:08] But I am excited to see Darnold start the year because I think Darnold can,

[01:04:12] you know, this dude was a number a third overall pick.

[01:04:15] I was listening to Johnny Manziel, you know, it's a funny man.

[01:04:19] But he was on a podcast, so his podcast.

[01:04:22] And I just heard clips of it.

[01:04:24] And he was he goes, you know, he goes, I'm kind of getting a bit annoyed.

[01:04:27] He is like everybody is, you know, talking about J.J.

[01:04:31] McCarthy and in Minnesota, he's like Sam Darnold is a dog.

[01:04:36] He's like this guy can play and he just never had the chance.

[01:04:40] And if anybody thinks for one second that Darnold is not looking at that

[01:04:43] biking team with all those weapons and going to compete for camp.

[01:04:47] Yeah, like this rookie is not going to get in this year.

[01:04:50] This is my year.

[01:04:51] And, you know, I'm fine with that.

[01:04:53] If Darnold plays good and maybe next year he goes and he gets a contract

[01:04:56] somewhere and he gets paid, does a little Geno Smith impression.

[01:04:59] I'm fine with that.

[01:05:01] Or you bring him back as a backup, depending on how he does.

[01:05:04] So maybe you guys will get him after this year.

[01:05:07] You know, our quarterback hopefully we I'm hoping that what's his name.

[01:05:12] Menchu will lead us to the promised land or at least close to it this year.

[01:05:16] You're going to like Gardner Menchu.

[01:05:17] I'm excited to see him place.

[01:05:18] Yeah, he's the type of dude like he's

[01:05:21] a fiery dude, man, he's not that big, but he's a fiery dude.

[01:05:25] Like he's on the sidelines.

[01:05:26] He's getting everybody fired up like his players will run through a wall for him.

[01:05:30] He seems like a guy you would smoke a joint with.

[01:05:31] I was watching the press conference with him and that dude is like

[01:05:33] totally like Keanu Reeves style laid back.

[01:05:36] Yeah, which, you know, that's he should be playing in in for the Chargers.

[01:05:41] Exactly. Yeah.

[01:05:42] Oh, I would take that kid in the second to man.

[01:05:44] Well, that guy is not a kid anymore.

[01:05:46] Now, but he's he's awesome.

[01:05:48] Now, awesome. Your division guy.

[01:05:49] I think you guys are going to come in second this year.

[01:05:52] I think, you know, it's going to be tough if Patrick Taylor Swift

[01:05:55] will come in first and then yes.

[01:05:57] Yes, he's actually she's actually the backup tight end now for a campus.

[01:06:01] She sold a billion records in a week of her new record.

[01:06:04] No one has ever done that.

[01:06:05] I mean, it's I mean, I'm not obviously I'm not a Taylor Swift fan,

[01:06:08] but that is absolutely insane.

[01:06:10] If you think it is insane, a billion, not a million, a billion records.

[01:06:14] I didn't hear it in one week.

[01:06:15] Yeah. Yeah. Well, say my daughter has tickets

[01:06:19] to see her in, I believe, Indianapolis in October.

[01:06:23] So like her and a couple of friends are flying out there and stuff like

[01:06:25] she's already getting offered like over two thousand dollars for her tickets.

[01:06:31] She's like, I just had somebody offer me like,

[01:06:34] I think she says like 1900 or 2000 for for a ticket.

[01:06:37] And I said, wait, it's a little closer to the show.

[01:06:40] You probably get five or six grand.

[01:06:41] Yeah, it's insane.

[01:06:43] I mean, it is insane.

[01:06:45] It is insane. She should take over the world, Taylor Swift

[01:06:48] for the yeah, she has already.

[01:06:50] I mean, like I said, we think of like Michael Jackson

[01:06:52] and these artists from we were kids.

[01:06:54] She's also I mean, it's just and she's selling physical product

[01:06:58] to in a market that's not a physical product anymore.

[01:07:00] So that's even more impressive.

[01:07:01] That's very true. You're right.

[01:07:03] Yeah. When the records are obsolete and she's selling them.

[01:07:07] So yeah, that's the epitome of, you know, she's selling ice to Eskimos.

[01:07:11] Like she's that good, you know?

[01:07:13] But yeah, it's pretty impressive.

[01:07:16] And I can't, you know, Travis Swift will probably have a good season again this year.

[01:07:21] Exactly. You should just start calling him.

[01:07:23] Taylor won her Super Bowl this year, so everyone's very excited.

[01:07:25] She's trying to go for a three pete.

[01:07:29] All right.

[01:07:30] Let's make the donuts.

[01:07:31] OK, yeah, time to make the donuts is right.

[01:07:33] So guys, once again, thank you so much for checking us out.

[01:07:36] We're the Uncle Puckers for Tony and Chris.

[01:07:37] We'll see you when we see you. Peace.
