[00:00:37] Hey everyone, Mr. Devil here, Kenny Danico, three time Stanley Cup champion of NJD.

[00:00:44] You're listening to The Uncle Puckers NJD Podcast with Chris, Dan, Bobby and Tony,

[00:00:50] The Uncle Puckers.

[00:00:51] Let's go Devils!

[00:00:52] This is a good Sunday right guys?

[00:00:56] Oh yeah, it's amazing what they can do with AI, that sounds just like Ken Danico.

[00:01:00] It does.

[00:01:01] Right?

[00:01:02] But yeah I'll tell you this was a we're gonna talk we're gonna get into it we're

[00:01:06] gonna get into the fall of the New York Rangers and once again not since but this was this

[00:01:12] was their year guys this was like playing out exactly like 1994.

[00:01:17] It was fake.

[00:01:18] It's just like 94 guys.

[00:01:20] Exactly.

[00:01:22] Except they weren't facing a team with a rookie goaltender in the championship

[00:01:29] round like we had they weren't facing well they didn't have Mark Messier on this

[00:01:33] team last time I checked or Brian Leach or Adam Graves or you know Esa Tekinen, Stefan

[00:01:41] Mateo.

[00:01:42] That bullshit about chasing 94 was so bad like there was basically clips of a guy who

[00:01:48] brought like the old magazine you know old newspaper article said we will win and

[00:01:52] that was like a story.

[00:01:53] He brought that to the game like that's not a story this is ancient history there's

[00:01:58] nothing to do with it.

[00:02:00] I mean Igor Shusterkin deserves all of his flowers for this.

[00:02:05] Oh yeah he deserves to be a devil.

[00:02:07] He played great and we're gonna talk all about that we're gonna talk about the game

[00:02:37] it will not be the New York Rangers.

[00:02:39] This is so far the best read you've done.

[00:02:42] You can bet on that.

[00:02:43] Yes you can bet on that it will not be the Rangers and with the action heating

[00:04:06] Yes.

[00:04:07] That rings a bell.

[00:04:10] What was that?

[00:04:12] Somebody's iPhone.

[00:04:13] Ah yes okay.

[00:04:16] Fart of Panthers are going to win the Stanley Cup aren't they guys.

[00:04:19] I mean they really look like a team.

[00:04:21] Pretty good.

[00:04:23] They understand team defense.

[00:04:24] I mean that was amazing.

[00:04:25] That was definitely a master class in team defense the whole series.

[00:04:30] Yeah I mean let's talk a little bit about that team because.

[00:04:33] Four check that four check is just grinding you into the ground.

[00:04:37] Absolutely when you have a team and Matthew Kachuk was saying this a lot in the post

[00:04:42] game stuff about he was using the term buy-in and it's so important because the

[00:04:47] system that Paul Maurice wants to play and it's a system that I think a lot of coaches

[00:04:53] in the NHL want to play right.

[00:04:55] Right.

[00:04:56] It's a heavy four check and it's just you know being physical but being smart

[00:05:01] and the thing is though that it's really hard to get all 20 guys to buy-in to

[00:05:08] that system and you might have.

[00:05:09] Sounds like a grueling way to play.

[00:05:11] I mean he didn't even said as much.

[00:05:12] It's true.

[00:05:13] And you might get your third and fourth line guys to buy into something like that

[00:05:16] for most of the season but your top end still guys they want to score goals they

[00:05:20] want to get creative and this system though does allow them to do that but.

[00:05:24] There's no difference between their top three players and their bottom three players

[00:05:30] right all play exactly the same style if Sheldon Keefe can get these guys

[00:05:36] this double team to play whatever system it is that he thinks is best.

[00:05:40] Best suited for this this team if he can get them all to buy-in and I'm telling

[00:05:45] you it's going to be a really really fun couple of years with them.

[00:05:48] It's really funny you mention that because I'm watching that game the other night

[00:05:52] and I'm watching like the Florida Panthers on the ice and I didn't notice who was on

[00:05:57] the ice in particular every now and then I'd notice the chucks out there or something

[00:06:00] like that but like it just seemed to just be like you said that same same two players

[00:06:06] the whole game I wasn't looking at the jerseys at all it's amazing.

[00:06:09] They all just know exactly what their job is they don't waiver from it and they

[00:06:15] play it to perfection and they are a really really hard team to be and they actually

[00:06:19] I mean you go back to the you know the few devil teams that we've seen we've seen

[00:06:24] teams play this kind of style a lot you know and this is a winning style in the playoffs

[00:06:28] but those winning playoff teams and in you know that the devils had like that's how we

[00:06:35] were we didn't have any not a lot of emotion too it was just about really good workmen

[00:06:41] you know like I looked at even this is some of the success we had last year not this past season

[00:06:47] where it was less success but even last year a lot of it did rely on a lot of emotion

[00:06:52] yeah that's okay for a younger team on its way up but I think what you want to move towards

[00:06:55] is that professionalism of getting that job done you're like a machine you know no matter

[00:07:00] what situation is you don't stop you know you keep putting the same amount of effort out

[00:07:04] it's admirable and and you look at like the panther team last season right they weren't

[00:07:10] supposed to make the playoffs and pittsburgh shit the bed we all know the story they make it there

[00:07:15] surprise you know cinderella team in the finals but look they were beat up by the time

[00:07:20] they got to vegas and they were you know kind of that we're really happy to be here

[00:07:25] mentality this year from game one their mission was to you know win the cup and they seemed

[00:07:32] like a team that had been there and done it before last night and that's why I think I think

[00:07:37] that they are seriously they know what they knew what their goal was right after they lost

[00:07:42] right after vegas won the cup and they worked towards it and I mean I just give them so much

[00:07:47] credit of what they didn't get frustrated after you know working so hard and only having a

[00:07:51] one goal lead into the third a lot of teams would be you know holding that stick too tight

[00:07:55] worried about waiting for the other shoe to drop you know uh just watching it thinking

[00:08:00] about the way our team played this year I would have been ready for the tying goal and just to

[00:08:05] blow that lead right but never felt that way with that team playing the way they did but they're

[00:08:10] like fine tuning even better with every round yeah and now you look at look at the teams and

[00:08:16] the goaltenders they had to go through now Bob Rossi's no slouch but look at the Tampa

[00:08:22] Boston and New York and then it's and they're getting better as they go so yeah I mean right

[00:08:27] now it's kind of easy to say it looks like they might win the Stanley Cup we've still got a Western

[00:08:30] Conference final to finish out we'll get our thoughts on that but boy if ever there was a

[00:08:35] team that just looked like um this this is our goal somebody turn off your damn notifications

[00:08:42] that's you isn't it Bobby Dan you're muted Bobby's phone's dinging out I'm doing this

[00:08:46] fucking show by myself all right Dan's back all right I'm here I'm here I'm listening so

[00:08:53] but let let so we gave you know Florida their their props they absolutely deserve it their

[00:09:00] phenomenal team I love Paul Maurice I want to see him win a Stanley Cup um I I know everybody's

[00:09:06] talking about his you know post-game pressers and stuff but they really are just a treat to

[00:09:11] watch I mean this guy is uh like his personality is fantastic and um but let's talk about the

[00:09:18] team on the other and the team that once again we can hear it live second what was that

[00:09:28] that was what are you talking about he's working on the dink I'm not I'm not so

[00:09:32] apparently my wife connected her phone to the Mac that I use for your show so we're just getting

[00:09:39] all the conversation popping up why can't Bob just like you know mute his phone it's not me

[00:09:43] yeah okay I got you I got you so um we were talking a little bit about you know we already

[00:09:53] talked a little bit about Florida so now let's talk about the the team that blew it they uh

[00:09:59] they're there this is a team built I mean they're look it's cup or bust with the Rangers I

[00:10:04] mean you look at their roster you look at the age of their roster you know going out and

[00:10:09] getting Peter LaVe LaVe winning the president's trophy making it this far to just I'm sorry I

[00:10:16] I without I said this to Bobby before we hit play would it before we hit record without

[00:10:21] Igor Cicerca and I don't think they get past Carolina no I really don't 100% they don't um

[00:10:27] that was a story in that series uh goaltending difference was huge uh Caroline does not have the

[00:10:34] goal tending that the Rangers had Cicerca in the best in league but they were just that

[00:10:37] far behind um I think it's fair to say Sturkin has been outplaying everybody this at this

[00:10:43] playoffs and there's been some really good goaltending but Borowski is right there with

[00:10:47] them I mean he he actually you know was not that far away at all um and you know given the

[00:10:53] right situation he would probably tell you you know I can play that well too yeah I just

[00:10:58] didn't have to and he's been great uh so you know when you get a competent goaltender

[00:11:02] to face him and you get it comes down to the rest of the team and that's where it's like night

[00:11:08] and day difference the Panthers like I said they got the buy-in they got the discipline they have

[00:11:12] the grit and they don't let up the Rangers don't have that their top line went away

[00:11:17] they you know I know Panarin got that late goal so literally too little too late yeah and um

[00:11:23] what did Zabanić have other than that it's you know they they had Zabanić was gone he was

[00:11:29] zero yeah zero points and it reminded me a little bit about how they disappeared against the Devils

[00:11:34] too like they just flat out disappeared not you know um some quality shots just didn't go in

[00:11:40] you know driving the game just kind of disappeared completely him and Panarin

[00:11:44] well I'll say this look you know I I don't want to sit here and just dump on the New

[00:11:52] Yorker yes I do of course I want it so but Mika Zabanić as great of a regular season player he is

[00:12:03] hey what a what a dude he is he's a fucking just he's so soft like I mean this dude had no

[00:12:12] fight in him if Matthew could chuck sneeze next to him he would fucking just back away

[00:12:18] like is that all it is to take a player like that from the regular season make him

[00:12:21] disappear in the playoffs yeah what is that how did you get switched off so easy I think it's

[00:12:26] like kind of uh like what we're talking about the other side of the coin when you don't have

[00:12:31] players that buy in it's because of one reason or another like Chris said maybe they like being

[00:12:37] creative they like scoring goals the way they like doing it so they like they know like I

[00:12:40] know how to do my job they're not members of necessarily a system or you know the team guy

[00:12:47] and when when going gets rough and you're playing against a team that gives you very

[00:12:50] little space you're not going to buy into the system that you know involves the hard work the

[00:12:55] grinding out and this and that uh you're there for the pretty goals now this is honestly what I

[00:13:00] worry about with a few of our guys we need a coach to make sure that we're all on the same

[00:13:04] page that we're not just going to show up when the goals are you know in the rooms they're

[00:13:07] available to let us score pretty goals because I think that's what affected the Rangers

[00:13:12] uh top line yeah and and I don't know if the Rangers I don't know how many more runs of like

[00:13:19] this they have in with this team I look at their defense like their defense to me is you know

[00:13:26] Keandre Miller's really good and Adam Fox who I have to think he's injured because I mean I

[00:13:32] I know they don't come out and really stay but if you look at any shot that he took from

[00:13:37] the point there was nothing on it like this guy he had nothing behind his shot so there's something

[00:13:42] going on with him but other than him and Keandre Miller I think the rest of their blue line is

[00:13:48] pretty much garbage like I just you know just he's just a dirty player a third

[00:13:54] yeah you know a third pairing guy that likes to hit dirty and get his elbow up and stuff

[00:13:59] but I don't I don't think the Rangers uh you know they make it this far with if it's Jacob

[00:14:05] Trub is not on this team like he didn't I don't I don't see him being a guy that you know Schneider

[00:14:11] it doesn't do anything for me there's so many guys on this team that you know and then what

[00:14:14] are you gonna do Igor Shostrkin is up for a contract extension at july june for july 1st

[00:14:20] I think this year he's up for an extension like he's got to be the highest paid goalie right

[00:14:26] yeah I mean that's gonna eat into it yeah he has to pay him what 10 and a half 11 million

[00:14:31] dollars is what he's gonna go for I mean I mean team friendly maybe you get him for upper nines

[00:14:38] you know you're not building out your team but no you're not building out your team if you're

[00:14:42] the Rangers and you want to talk to them about staying there's two conversations you want to like

[00:14:47] number one let them know the changes you're going to make so that he has a cup winning

[00:14:51] team to play with and that's a hard sell that we were just talking about you know where this

[00:14:56] team's going in general and number two to make that happen is you're gonna try to get him to

[00:15:01] come in for less money right you know which is necessary but well that's going to be a tough

[00:15:07] sell for him it is what most or a lot of the successful very successful teams do manage to do

[00:15:12] you do kind of talk to your star players not not millions and millions off but there's

[00:15:17] shavings here and there that adds up in the long run for some very important role players

[00:15:21] but I was on earlier this year I had already predicted that the Rangers I thought they were

[00:15:27] going to start to fall off beginning with this season and then they go ahead and have that

[00:15:31] tremendous president trophy winning season so I don't like a douche for that but I don't see

[00:15:35] them sustaining this like you said much maybe they still got a good year coming up next year

[00:15:41] overall though if nothing changes I don't see an incline for sure no if they go in

[00:15:46] with their same forward group we're close to it go into the playoffs again next year

[00:15:50] what's anybody think that Panarin and Zabaniad and these guys are all going to show up out of

[00:15:55] nowhere like we've seen it now three years in a row now three years in a row that when

[00:15:59] it was crunch time your big guys were not there now that's the equivalent of us making

[00:16:05] it to a Stanley Cup final and Jack Hughes Jesper Bratt Nico Heescher having um gots for

[00:16:11] the entire time like that's how bad that is and we Jesper Bratt didn't score in a Ranger series

[00:16:17] we won that Ranger series and we were ready to trade them away at the end of the year so

[00:16:23] I mean you can't have it you can't have it you need your best players to be the

[00:16:30] best players yeah whether you win or lose you know you have to and if not then it

[00:16:35] speaks to like there's a disconnect with the system with you know the coach of continuity of

[00:16:40] purpose whatever you want to call it um you need that and if you go down swinging and you look at

[00:16:45] your deficits okay we didn't have the guys here we didn't have the guys there you know

[00:16:49] if you were like Carolina you could very easily point to your goal tending maybe a couple other

[00:16:53] areas uh that's one thing but you didn't in the case of Carolina have a lack of team buy-in

[00:16:58] and effort and a good coaching system that works I think you do have that in Carolina

[00:17:04] despite them losing I think you were out goalie number one and you probably did have a couple

[00:17:09] guys who just tapered off and didn't do what they you know were supposed to do and that

[00:17:14] was the difference um but you know I think if you're the Rangers you gotta be really

[00:17:19] disappointed that's your top line and they have done nothing for you in that series

[00:17:24] it really went out with a whimper and you gotta be worried too you gotta be worried you

[00:17:29] gotta sit here and say you know this was the team this was it like who else are we gonna go

[00:17:35] out and get this you know you're paying yeah you're paying this later you're you're this is

[00:17:40] you're playing to go to the Stanley Cup yeah that's it that's what's on the line and you

[00:17:44] can't bring it up for this no exactly uh you know so this is this is I don't know where

[00:17:49] it goes from there but it's going to be fun to just hopefully not hopefully we will win a

[00:17:54] Stanley Cup before the Rangers do I believe that um I'm not going to be as bold after 94 where I

[00:18:01] said that the Devils will win three Stanley Cups before the Rangers win their next ones

[00:18:05] and I got you right about that but I'm not gonna say that one again we all remember you

[00:18:09] said that so what about the uh the West I mean uh a lot of people had one last thing on the

[00:18:15] Rangers before you jump over there I did like when you're watching the broadcast every damn

[00:18:20] commercial break they're playing like Sam Rosen's call oh I know Rangers have done it I know it's

[00:18:25] this one will last a lifetime and I was thinking about that well unless they're all dead from 94

[00:18:32] then I guess we're not gonna have a Rangers I mean just think about what you did there Sam

[00:18:36] he just basically jinxed them for another lifetime and look we're not gonna I know

[00:18:41] we're gonna get another stuff but we're not done with the Rangers yet um like ESPN is putting

[00:18:47] out next month a uh documentary about 94 Rangers you know and about about that like like that's

[00:18:55] all you have something that happened 30 years ago and if they win that cup and Messier is not

[00:19:00] on the team like nobody's talking about it it's because it's Marc Messier it's because of the

[00:19:05] fucking guarantee and everything else but like I don't think that that I would be happy about

[00:19:09] that like if all we ever did was celebrate the 2003 Devils like I don't want to celebrate

[00:19:16] it's kind of the equivalent of like not lifting the Prince of Wales trophy and stuff you know

[00:19:21] it's like I want to talk about what we did 25 30 years ago let's talk about what we're going to

[00:19:27] do now um you know so I just think like they they hold on to that that's all they have

[00:19:33] and uh hopefully you know we win another one before they do so we can just rub that in their

[00:19:38] nose because this is now ultimate the last three years with this team and this core that they

[00:19:44] have that is you know on paper a fantastic core you lost in I think six against Tampa in the

[00:19:51] Eastern Conference final uh last year or three two years ago you lost the Devils last year in the

[00:19:58] first round and then you make it to the third round again and lose now now you're done

[00:20:05] I do not think that they're going to be back there next year not saying the Devils

[00:20:08] does it don't think it's going to be the Rangers I mean statistically alone it does take

[00:20:12] so much to even get as far as they did so yeah it's very very hard to repeat that distance and

[00:20:17] when you want to you look at the teams that are left specifically like Florida and maybe even

[00:20:21] Dallas as far as being able to kind of just keep trudging along but that's not easy no it's

[00:20:26] not when was the last time we even had a back to oh Tampa back-to-back Stanley Cup champ

[00:20:30] right yeah yeah yeah so it's very hard to do actually yeah and they did and they and they

[00:20:35] made it there three times for Christ sakes in a row right that's crazy that's a super team

[00:20:38] right there yeah you know but one I got to ask you guys a question off of this like

[00:20:44] we're in June now okay the way that this schedule the final schedule is if there's a game seven I

[00:20:49] think it's going to be played on the 24th of June wow that's that's too late man

[00:20:55] wait like I sure it gets to the 24th yeah um 95% sure goes to the 24th oh well the final

[00:21:02] like June what second third right now the finals don't start until Saturday so you know

[00:21:07] if the west and they'll be the eighth I think yeah Saturday's the eighth are you checking that

[00:21:12] be yeah let's see what we got here so like if you were to every other day it'd be bringing

[00:21:17] two weeks from that so that makes sense what you're saying 20 yeah I thought it was like

[00:21:21] everyone's 20s yeah eight eight ten 13th 15th 18th 21st and 24th there you go pretty late

[00:21:28] pretty late so you know and if you go four or five we're done you know a lot sooner but

[00:21:33] you're talking about the end of June right why are we not starting the hockey season like right

[00:21:40] around the beginning of the football season and I might have just answered my own question

[00:21:43] because it's the start of the football season that I get maybe they don't want to uh you

[00:21:48] know compete with the NFL but you're kind of competing with them anyway because their seasons

[00:21:52] go on simultaneously but I guess they stay away from those days you know what do you guys

[00:21:57] think about Sundays yeah I mean what do you guys think about starting the NHL season the

[00:22:01] first week of September and you crown a Stanley Cup champion at the end of May makes a lot more

[00:22:07] sense to me I always like you know what time like September rolls around summer is kind of

[00:22:13] officially over you know kids are back at school I want the hockey to start that yeah you know

[00:22:17] instead we get like you know a month of meaningless preseason games yeah too many

[00:22:21] preseason games yeah absolutely I still associate in September and three quarters of the month

[00:22:27] in fact summer with summer so that's still the words I do like the October start now in years

[00:22:31] past when it went extra long it was mostly because there was um like different breaks in

[00:22:37] there whether you know obviously we have an all-star break when we had uh like Olympics and

[00:22:41] that remember we always go long and they had a problem we started relatively early this year

[00:22:46] I think the reason it's going so late is just because they're trying to accommodate so

[00:22:50] many viewers and stretching out these playoff rounds so that people can watch

[00:22:54] the games than ever too that might be factoring in too you know we picked up a couple more

[00:22:59] teams in recent years we've always had 16 teams in the playoffs I mean that's not

[00:23:03] oh yeah but to get to the playoffs you gotta fit in all those regular season games

[00:23:07] a few more teams probably does I see what you're saying I see what you're saying I

[00:23:11] mean I'm sure it's a very complicated schedule to put together but I just think maybe you

[00:23:17] cut off a couple of preseason games maybe start that season a few weeks earlier

[00:23:21] and just end this thing a few weeks earlier I mean it's really hard when it's 85 degrees

[00:23:26] outside and it's still it's light out until 9 9 30 how would you feel about them reducing

[00:23:32] the regular season length I mean I wouldn't want it to go significantly less but I think

[00:23:38] a little bit to 80 games 78 has been uh said a lot interesting players will never go for it

[00:23:45] you know no you don't think so no because that's four days of pay they lose they've

[00:23:49] already talked about this before it's between the players association the union like forget it that's

[00:23:53] the regular season the regular season is where the players make their money I think they can

[00:23:57] crunch it up a little more because you're right end of June it's pretty late now if we do that

[00:24:02] we'll never have like a special birthday present like I got in 1995 winning the cup on the 20th

[00:24:07] but that's true oh yeah that's right that's true but um that's okay I think the NHL can

[00:24:12] live without having celebrated Stanley Devils winning a cup on your birthday then I think

[00:24:17] maybe do that I hate to say that I like probably right but yeah I mean I what do we have eight six

[00:24:23] eight preseason games something like that some stupid number like let's do three preseason games

[00:24:29] like let's play the Rangers the Islanders the Flyers and then move on yeah you're usually like

[00:24:35] first of all some of them are like the split squad games tell me how it helps anybody um you

[00:24:40] know like you're not really your team's not really gonna gel during that time nothing's

[00:24:45] the same until you get to the actual game more and all preseason really is and is guys just

[00:24:51] who's gonna make the team you know that's it like if you if you you know maybe you gotta

[00:24:56] give some teams a little bit more leeway of how long they can keep guys up to give a try

[00:25:01] out for before they get sent down or whatever but regardless of that those are you know

[00:25:07] finite details I'm just saying I think awarding a Stanley Cup on June 24th is crazy

[00:25:12] especially when if you win the cup or even if you lose the cup if you're playing that in that game

[00:25:17] you basically have now July and August and then you're back and so that's a lot of hockey man

[00:25:24] so I do have to be I have to stand and correct myself here that was on my birthday that I

[00:25:29] purchased the legal beer to watch game three they did in fact win the cup on June 24th 1995

[00:25:35] so it doesn't matter it would be the same right yeah they owe me a birthday gift

[00:25:40] in my mind that color is getting later every year but no they need to do it on your birthday

[00:25:45] yeah all right I'll take it whenever I'll take a Stanley Cup in April you just move your

[00:25:48] birthday you know you can do that yeah really you can say your birthdays any day I like that

[00:25:53] well tonight Dallas up in Edmonton game five or game six rather Edmonton up three games to two

[00:26:01] I'm telling you Edmonton is gonna finish it tonight it's over I'm sorry I thought I had

[00:26:07] all the faith in the world in Dallas and I really thought they were gonna roll in this series

[00:26:12] and then Edmonton decided to play hockey like really really good freaking hockey and uh

[00:26:19] I kind of like Stuart Skinner I like this guy who's like never ready to play but then

[00:26:23] he always shows up at the end um you know I'm just kind of getting behind Edmonton

[00:26:29] uh I'm with them I think they're gonna win it tonight I gotta tell you I tried to look back

[00:26:33] at um one of the shows we had like last summer very early predictions of Stanley Cup before trades

[00:26:39] happened or anything I believe I put Edmonton down at that stage of the game before this year

[00:26:45] you know we did our more tournament picks and I got you know Dallas beating them in there I

[00:26:50] I do still think that Dallas is gonna squeak one out tonight they're my pick I'm gonna

[00:26:54] stick with it but as much as I talked about Florida kind of tweaking along the way and

[00:26:59] getting better Edmonton might even be doing that even better than them it's like every single game

[00:27:06] they are learning more and getting better to the point where it is very possible they uh

[00:27:11] they knocked Dallas out tonight which and we have crazy to me yeah because going into this

[00:27:15] series I thought Dallas was far and away the better team I really did I was I just figured you

[00:27:21] know what they're Edmonton's not deep their bottom six problem yeah their bottom six isn't

[00:27:26] gonna do it Stewart Skinner is you know a leaky hoes sometimes I just don't think that they're

[00:27:32] gonna have enough firepower but then you know it's kind of like when they went on their 16

[00:27:36] game win streak right they put it together and they and we haven't even had a game that Connor

[00:27:41] McDavid decided I'm gonna take this fucking game over right he's a good game yeah and

[00:27:46] he's got points a lot of points but he hasn't well that shows you they're playing a team

[00:27:49] system here and that's you know that's that it does look like they've evolved into a unit

[00:27:54] I didn't think they could be and they mean either and uh yeah so kudos to chris nablack I almost

[00:28:00] call them chuck nablack like everybody else does but uh kudos to chris nablack he's uh done a

[00:28:06] great job man with this team and I I'm really kind of excited I had said on this show if

[00:28:12] the cup final is not Florida Dallas I'm gonna be disappointed I'm kind of looking more forward

[00:28:17] to an Edmonton Florida one well when that series lined up I was thinking you know Edmonton

[00:28:21] you're picked for fun because who doesn't want to see Connor McDavid play you know it's definitely

[00:28:27] a fun team I want to watch him as much as possible you know the head says it's got to be

[00:28:31] Dallas but you know you know what that's that's definitely being rewritten right now we're down

[00:28:35] to a coin flip and um you know anybody can be forgiven for you know betting with their

[00:28:40] heart on this one because what do you think happens tonight then Edmonton's well I have

[00:28:45] been picking Dallas the whole way so you hate to flip on it but if there ever was a time

[00:28:49] to and go with your heart instead of your head it would be now so I don't know I mean honestly

[00:28:54] it's such a coin flip I'm not going to be surprised either way though you know it's

[00:28:59] definitely not gonna be a shock oh I can't believe Dallas blew the series no the story

[00:29:03] has not been Dallas playing badly I really don't think so I think it has been you know

[00:29:08] Edmonton forming into a team that I don't think too many people

[00:29:12] rightfully thought they could be I agree so you know uh I would love to see them go

[00:29:18] forward from here but on the other hand you know if Dallas rest control of the series in a

[00:29:23] way they will have deserved it they've been you know a much more solid deep team um over the

[00:29:29] course of these playoffs than Edmonton who's only just coming on now Ottinger needs to steal

[00:29:34] tonight's game if they're gonna win I honestly believe that everybody's been saying he's the

[00:29:38] better goaltender and that's a big reason people have been favoring Dallas if he doesn't

[00:29:43] show that then yeah absolutely yeah Chris do you think Edmonton wins no matter what or is it a

[00:29:50] possibility in your mind that if Dallas does in fact tie it up that you'll reconsider or you

[00:29:54] just think it's Edmonton's show? No I don't I'm not counting Dallas out um not at all I do

[00:29:59] think though that Edmonton is probably gonna I think Edmonton if they don't close it off

[00:30:03] tonight then I think they could be in trouble because going back to Dallas I know the road

[00:30:08] teams have been playing a lot better than the home teams in these playoffs but I think that you

[00:30:14] have Dallas right now right for the taking and I think that they have to put them away tonight

[00:30:19] it's funny because we will obviously do our actual standing cup predictions till we get there

[00:30:25] but depending on that series I'm probably picking a different champ and not in the way

[00:30:30] that you would think like I just kind of feel if we get that Florida Dallas game I think

[00:30:36] I'm gonna go with Florida but if the Oilers go in I don't know if I'm going to be rooting for

[00:30:41] the Oilers or if I'm going to be picking them but I'm kind of feeling like I'm going to go there

[00:30:44] and that goes against conventional wisdom because I think Florida would have an easier time

[00:30:49] I don't though I see matchup problems with Florida Edmonton more so than I see Florida

[00:30:55] at Dallas. Florida's a better shutdown team than Dallas is yeah and I could see um you know

[00:31:01] Connor McDavid and Leon Drysaddle are not Panarin into Vantajad I'm sorry I just see them doing

[00:31:08] a lot more against Florida where um I mean it's going to be a hell of a series but you know what

[00:31:14] could be an advantage to Edmonton if it's Edmonton Florida nobody's talking about this

[00:31:20] yet but I'm sure it probably will come up like Edmonton is super used to traveling

[00:31:25] constantly right every game is well when you're on the East Coast you know you go weeks on end

[00:31:31] where you're not on a plane longer than two hours oh yeah you got a lot of drivable games

[00:31:35] right from essentially the tip of Florida to Edmonton over the course of two weeks

[00:31:43] back and forth I think that could favor if it does take a toll on a team I could see it

[00:31:47] taking a toll on Florida a lot more than the Oilers is all this is a great point

[00:31:52] never thought about it it's come up a lot in past years where you know analysts will say

[00:31:57] something similar and you can probably see the two sides of it fairly easily one side of the

[00:32:03] argument against that is that these teams don't fly like we do you're not being at the airport

[00:32:09] two hours early and waiting for security and doing all this and flying code taking your shoes

[00:32:14] off it's an easier travel experience right and I think we can all agree to that but

[00:32:20] the same time man you fly across the country well done it it's tiring it really is so I do think

[00:32:27] there's a small factor that does go into play that and it's not just the fact that okay like

[00:32:33] both teams have to do it I understand that but Edmonton is so much more conditioned to it every

[00:32:39] time they go on the road it is a you know they got to go play Dallas it's like you know

[00:32:44] whatever six hours four hour plane ride they got to go you know they're constantly they

[00:32:48] got to fly when they play Calgary right they gotta fly everywhere you know I mean you got a home and

[00:32:53] home against Tampa and then you're going to Washington and Carolina and then you're back

[00:32:57] home again you know like I said it's an hour and a half plane ride the most yeah and it's

[00:33:02] literally no different than if you like when I first started driving out to Pennsylvania two

[00:33:06] hour drive two hours isn't that much but it felt like two hours and then you do it for

[00:33:09] months and months and months and you could practically do with your eyes closed I start

[00:33:12] flying out west for work oh god I don't want to be a plane for five hours and then you

[00:33:15] just kind of be like no it's fine I really this is what I do it all seems to go faster

[00:33:21] there's a small advantage there I don't know how much it would make it but it is something to

[00:33:24] kind of you know consider at least but it's that would be fun I do think I'm going to go

[00:33:31] as well I'd like to see a game seven but I'm just going to go five

[00:33:34] to two Edmonton tonight that's what I'm going to go with yeah and I think Florida also

[00:33:39] thrives on you know being out of the spotlight they've been you know maybe on paper not

[00:33:46] necessarily the underdog but who got better media coverage in the conference finals the

[00:33:50] Rangers sure like they know that you know the NHL and ESPN and everybody's in the bag for them

[00:33:57] and it's going to be the same or worse when it comes to playing Edmonton oh yeah and I

[00:34:01] think Florida thrives with that I think it's a little bit you know they're they're a little

[00:34:05] less flashy than Dallas too but come on it's a counter mcdavid versus the other team that's

[00:34:10] on their shoulder too yeah I mean absolutely Rangers you want to talk about counter mcdavid

[00:34:14] talk about us watch this exactly I mean what about Devils playing the Red Wings in the 95

[00:34:18] final was the same thing it was all about the Red Wings and there was no way the Devils were

[00:34:25] going to be able to beat them especially your team's got that confidence in themselves

[00:34:29] that Florida has yeah Florida just like Bobby said too like they keep getting better

[00:34:34] it's like and nothing phases them you're down a goal in the third period no problem we'll win it

[00:34:39] tied we have to get a game winner it's just you know they were just a better team from

[00:34:45] the puck drop a game one right up until the end last night than the Rangers there wasn't one

[00:34:49] point in that entire series where you were like holy shit the Rangers are really you know

[00:34:55] coming on here they deserve to win that game or something the games they won were over time

[00:35:00] you know because Igor stole them from you go back to the Carolina series right you won three

[00:35:06] four games two of them games two and three were overtime if you know Carolina wins those games

[00:35:12] you're not there so yeah you don't have to have the best players you have to have the

[00:35:17] best team yeah and that's what Florida has they had they have no weaknesses in any position

[00:35:24] and that's why it's going to be really hard to not pick them for the cup but

[00:35:28] there is there's a sexiness to Edmonton getting in where I just I won't say it now but I think I'm

[00:35:34] wonderful for there are a lot of people that can't wait to see it yeah there are a lot of people

[00:35:37] that hate Connor McDavid so much and they I know it's gonna be I cannot hate this guy he's

[00:35:43] he's so talented oh yeah but you know he does have a personality of a potted plant you gotta

[00:35:48] give him that but I think that you know if you who you're gonna gravitate to you know

[00:35:52] Matthew Kachuk or you know or and Sam Bennett or uh you know dull ass Connor McDavid but Connor

[00:36:00] McDavid's the best in the world I'd love to see him in the finals I think that I would love

[00:36:04] to see those two teams that he he's definitely he's the type of guy I absolutely want to see

[00:36:10] win a Stanley Cup one day yes he deserves it when you're that good you're that head

[00:36:14] and shoulders above the rest of the league like you just want to win a cup and they're

[00:36:18] their media market's fucking brutal too man like it is so rough out there like after they lost

[00:36:24] before what was it game four I think and like you hear like Darnell Nurse is just getting

[00:36:29] absolutely mauled by all the media up there about his bloated contract and how bad he's

[00:36:35] playing and all this shit and it was like the whole media just seemed to focus in on Darnell

[00:36:39] Nurse and just run this dude down every chance they got I was like man that's fucking brutal

[00:36:45] like you have a couple of bad games like so somebody offered you that money

[00:36:50] would you not take it hey you should make yeah my agent called and said hey I'll get you 13

[00:36:56] million you're gonna go I'm not worth that I want if I have a bad game exactly I don't

[00:37:01] want to hear that yeah so let's you know let's go all after this guy why don't you go

[00:37:04] after the fucking GM that put the contract in front of them but they're brutal up there man

[00:37:09] and but there's still the best team in the NHL that we haven't talked about

[00:37:17] that's our devils that's right guys let's talk about a goalie for a little bit okay

[00:37:25] who is it today it's the same guys but different points about certain things okay

[00:37:32] so Nick Villano from I believe he writes for pucks and pitchforks um yes yeah he had a an

[00:37:39] article out and it was basically like what Boston wanted or wants for Linus Olmark and

[00:37:46] it looks like it's a Dawson Mercer and the number 10 pick for Linus Olmark all right

[00:37:54] let's we'll start with him and right now that was what was reported would be on the

[00:38:00] table for Linus Olmark yeah Mercer and the 10th from 77 Dawson Mercer the number 10 pick

[00:38:06] for Linus Olmark Linus Olmark signed he's a ufa after this year 24 25 he's signed a 20 million

[00:38:14] dollar contract uh so he's got a five million av he's a uh Vesna trophy winner you have to

[00:38:22] assume six six and a half million will be his contract whether or not he's with you or not

[00:38:28] that's the bigger problem but it looks like it's Dawson Mercer and the number 10 what do you guys

[00:38:35] think it's attractive um so you're saying that this would be contingent with some kind of deal

[00:38:42] when we get him more than just one year I mean if he knew him as no I mean as of right now

[00:38:48] it would be no it would be that you would either it's kind of rough giving up Mercer

[00:38:53] for a guy that you don't have locked up more than one year that's what I don't like

[00:38:56] about at least in one regard Mercer is an rfa so there's also no guarantee of Mercer beyond this

[00:39:03] year unless they do something now yeah and we do have a lot of money tied up and forwards

[00:39:11] and again I know it's more about just building the entire team but when you do have only so

[00:39:15] much money to spend you also have to look at it from section to section I don't know I mean

[00:39:21] I think a second year I'd probably jump at that in a heartbeat I do I am a little concerned with

[00:39:27] the one year and then not guaranteed because what do we have coming on after that I'm out

[00:39:32] you're out completely I'm out I'm out I don't want no I don't I'm not giving up Dawson Mercer

[00:39:38] for a goaltender who I am not positive is going to be here after this year it's that

[00:39:43] simple I know I know I have a much better chance of signing Dawson Mercer now to a

[00:39:50] long-term deal or at least sometime in the middle of the year during the season to sign him

[00:39:54] to a long-term deal with them sign him Linus Olmark and you're making this decision like not

[00:39:59] on Olmark himself right no I mean who the goaltender was you'd say the same things

[00:40:03] okay well here's it okay so now so you're basically saying what if it's a sign and

[00:40:09] trade Linus Olmark we get him for four years at six and a half million for Dawson Mercer

[00:40:14] in the number 10 pick that's kind of what you're saying then right like does that

[00:40:18] change how I feel curious yeah um those are kind of two separate questions yeah I know you're right

[00:40:25] right um and sorry just to say that you could kind of also assume in there that

[00:40:32] if bridge contracts still exist that might be the timeline of Mercer we get to three four

[00:40:36] years right and his next one so puts it a little more even now what I'd much rather do

[00:40:44] is make this trade Linus Olmark comes here signs a four-year deal for six million dollars

[00:40:53] Dawson Mercer leaves boston in july and comes back here and we sign him to a long-term deal

[00:41:00] that would make me extremely happy but that's not gonna be able to ink that that's not going

[00:41:04] down in paper but all you gotta do is just make a deal with Mercer on the side I'm

[00:41:07] trading you but you gotta then leave them and come back here at the end of the year pinky

[00:41:11] swear pinky swear let's do it but no I don't know I I have never stands up I'm just gonna

[00:41:18] go straight no I have other followers on this team I prefer they rather try to find a way to

[00:41:22] trade okay then Dawson Mercer all right then I say no to that I'm no I mean I hear what you're

[00:41:27] saying about but who wants them you know like are we gonna get a blue chip goalie for

[00:41:32] the forwards that you and I want to trade but maybe maybe we can get a blue chip goalie

[00:41:37] not have to give up anybody we'll get right okay all right you see Soros is the same

[00:41:44] four years 20 million dollars ufa after this year we know Barry Trotz has said I am not giving

[00:41:50] away you see Soros unless it's a fucking deal like he wants Mercer or somebody and then some

[00:41:55] I would yeah I would go out and say that whatever deal you make with Barry Trotz is

[00:42:00] going to be more than the number 10 pick in Dawson Mercer so no I'm out no I'm done I'm

[00:42:08] not doing that for it not for especially if the other comparables on the table for

[00:42:12] all mark are the same thing then you know right not asking for the additional right so

[00:42:17] no I'm out so that's a straight out yeah okay and then we got Markstrom we have no idea

[00:42:23] what kind of trade was in the works during the year but whatever it was I have to assume

[00:42:28] that's got to be at least a starting point for any kind of negotiations with him six years 36

[00:42:34] million he's six million av he'll be a free agent ufa after 25 26 season so you got him

[00:42:41] for two years you're gonna have to give them a raise so I think all these guys are going

[00:42:47] to be between the six and six and a half million for I don't think you'd have to walk

[00:42:54] away from Dawson Mercer on this pick I think that the number 10 pick and a player a lesser

[00:43:01] player or a prospect gets you over the hump for Jacob Markstrom that's I wouldn't pay any more

[00:43:05] than that for Jacob Markstrom so for that do I do Jacob Markstrom for the two-year deal at

[00:43:13] six and a half million that one I think I would do wait is this the same trade though

[00:43:18] you're saying you don't think you'd have to do a more sir I thought this was a article

[00:43:22] no no he just wrote the only thing we know for sure is that Boston wanted Mercer we know that

[00:43:28] and the number 10 pick and then he wrote about like how Barry Trotz we know has made a comment

[00:43:33] so you have to assume that is going to be bigger than a Mercer number 10 the Markstrom

[00:43:39] thing I don't think I read it that far I don't think he was just talking about Markstrom at

[00:43:42] all but I just threw it in um maybe he was but I'm assuming the number 10 pick and maybe

[00:43:49] Holtz gets you Jacob Markstrom yeah maybe maybe even throw in another player um it makes it more

[00:43:57] attractive for them I don't know honestly what are they looking for right now that's a great

[00:44:02] question well I mean if it's not Mercer do you trade for Jacob Markstrom essentially yeah I mean

[00:44:13] yeah yeah because it's kind of like what we were proposing I think we have similar

[00:44:18] quality goaltending against O'Mark similar not to say maybe but um you don't have to give up Mercer

[00:44:24] you got it for two years six and a half to seven or whatever it might be is a little on the

[00:44:30] high side but again it's two years um that's a lot more attractive what about you Bobby

[00:44:37] you know smirk what's up does anybody else feel like it kind of leaves a bad taste in your

[00:44:41] mouth this whole Markstrom thing like I feel like that was such big news that if we did it

[00:44:45] and it didn't just blow up in our face like oh you finally got the guy and then you're gonna

[00:44:49] have two shitty years or something like it's got me nervous and I don't know why because

[00:44:53] he certainly fits what we've been saying all along I like the extra year I think that's a

[00:44:58] good buffer for anybody else we can bring into the system it just feels like yesterday's

[00:45:02] lunch and I just don't know if I want them anymore I mean let me let me check something

[00:45:06] real quick and maybe maybe this can add a little bit of uh confirmation or validity to

[00:45:13] what you're saying um give me one second here

[00:45:25] I'm getting there all right so Jacob Markstrom all right so last year this past season

[00:45:33] he played let's see yeah 23 wins 23 losses he's 500 this year with two

[00:45:41] overtime losses and two shutouts he had 2.78 goals against and a 0.905

[00:45:48] um goals again or save percentage last then the 23 20 I mean the 22 23 season so those

[00:45:58] numbers were pretty good right yeah um now let's go to where are you Jacob Markstrom

[00:46:06] oh all right so the other than the year before that why is it going to this one

[00:46:11] Jesus Christ hang on all right I'm sorry guys I just screwed this up I can't get back to that

[00:46:17] here um anyway I know he had a really bad year that that year two years ago he had a

[00:46:23] really bad year so yeah you're right I was gonna read his numbers off and prove it but

[00:46:27] I know he had a bad year so that's kind of where you're left um like yeah he can do it

[00:46:34] he can have a really bad year he can you know shipwreck you so that's something that should

[00:46:40] worry you yeah I mean they're not stellar elite numbers by any means but I think we've also

[00:46:49] said that consistency was something we take you know heartbeat I guess in this situation if it is

[00:46:57] the 10th and a lesser player like a holster maybe even less because we do need some roster

[00:47:03] space I'd probably take that because we need a goalie it's a good two years I think I take

[00:47:10] that one I do I I do I think Jacob Markstrom will be fine and I like the idea of you know

[00:47:16] having I like the idea having two veterans I don't know how much I like the idea having

[00:47:20] too much of like this is a lot of veteran dude that's that's some old ass goal tendon

[00:47:24] we got so that kind of worries me a little bit but I think I would do it I wouldn't do

[00:47:30] the other one so I'm kind of thinking guys I'm out on Omar Consoros completely

[00:47:37] let me just give you his 22 23 stats oh thanks dude 63 games played 63 starts uh looks like 37

[00:47:47] wins 15 losses oh that's it not bad that's real good the year before was

[00:47:54] against average even better than I'm sorry 2.92 goals against that is worse I'm in the wrong

[00:48:01] season that was 21 22 that was a great year for him that was his great year yeah he was

[00:48:06] 2.22 and 9 22 save percentage nine shutouts okay it was the next year so 22 23 yeah so he's

[00:48:14] 23 23 wins 21 losses of 2.92 goals against average and a save percentage of only 8.92 with

[00:48:23] one shutout right so that was very bad it's a big dip in his production from the year earlier

[00:48:29] but then the rebound to me wasn't that great you went to 23 24 he went from a 2.92 goals

[00:48:35] against to a 2.78 so he lowered a little he went from an 8.92 save to a 9.05 save

[00:48:40] so he increased it a little but I mean bad team right so kind of hard to tell but sure

[00:48:47] that bad yeah it worked that bad I don't know man not that bad of a team you know

[00:48:52] it's not like he's coming from San Jose yeah you know they're you know you can you can look

[00:48:58] at Calgary and have a lot of similarities to us so yeah I mean I'll tell you what if they

[00:49:02] take the 10th and Palat I'll do the deal from Arkstrom yeah so I mean basically what I'm

[00:49:10] I think you got to go after a free agent yep I think Simon Reimbersua let's get him in

[00:49:17] here I mean I think he'd be the best fit you can probably get him for like under three million

[00:49:23] dollars for maybe four years if you get this guy and he plays up to his capability and

[00:49:29] does what I think he can do I mean it'd be a bargain at that price so I like the idea of

[00:49:35] having the best goalie we can get who's on his way up right I do that's what's you know

[00:49:41] tempting about Reimersua is that he could be like your goalie you know he was with the Jets

[00:49:47] right Dan just muted so he could sneeze yeah just barely caught that one in time

[00:49:54] but yeah I like the idea do not mute that next time

[00:49:59] that that wasn't one attractive idea you know why did you want Bobby going cheap I

[00:50:03] agree he was with the Jets last year no it's Calgary

[00:50:07] no it was what oh yeah he was with the Jets okay so I'll pull them up I don't know why I just

[00:50:13] thought of Markstrom I originally associated him with Minnesota for some odd reason but anyway

[00:50:19] in Seattle or Vegas rather but he was with Vegas last year I think he got injured right

[00:50:27] 22 starts 15 and 5 2.0 goals against average 9.27 save percentage three shutouts and 23

[00:50:36] starts what are we talking about man those are smaller sample size but that's those are really

[00:50:42] good numbers and him and Jake Allen that's a good tandem yeah I'm okay with that and what

[00:50:47] you have to build is gonna you know require a good goalie but like just same thing with

[00:50:53] Florida you don't need the best goalie you need a you know top 10 goalie in the league

[00:50:59] you're right what were you gonna say Bobby I mean in 11 games with the Knights you know

[00:51:07] the year before 2.17 goals against 9.27 save again it kind of seems like yeah that like that

[00:51:13] backup was ready to pop yeah so if you give them the security of a veteran back there

[00:51:18] backing them up I think I'd be on board with this the contrast though that a check like

[00:51:23] I can't play too many games thing hanging around this guy no there's not that I know

[00:51:28] of I should say but I haven't heard really much of negative anything I mean everybody that has

[00:51:35] had this guy or been around him and the guys put up good numbers his injuries I think I know

[00:51:40] he was injured two years ago I don't know if that's anything that's chronic going on but

[00:51:44] you know I'm struggling you know what you know I mean that's something we were like all hot on

[00:51:49] Blackwood right then the injuries came in his game with the shit but you know he's actually

[00:51:53] come back from injury and played at a really high level already so I'm not as worried about

[00:51:57] so I'm just saying I'm just saying anytime he's gotten a few more games like into the 20s

[00:52:04] with the exception of a 24 game start for Vegas where he only had an 8.95 generally speaking

[00:52:10] it seems like the more starts he gets the higher save percentages it goes into the nines

[00:52:14] 9.18 9.27 9.25 I think you guys ready to play more games yeah yeah I'm up with Jake Allen

[00:52:21] give us a really good tandem let's get that defense in order oh and I have something else

[00:52:26] I don't think we have enough time tonight but I think we keep talking about possibly getting

[00:52:31] another defenseman or getting rid of Seagintar which I definitely want to do but there's a

[00:52:35] guy I keep forgetting about and I really liked his game this year and that was uh

[00:52:40] fucking what the hell is his nuts uh Hataka Hataka played really good I mean you know the

[00:52:47] few mistakes and stuff but for the most part I really liked his game like he I'd like to see

[00:52:52] him maybe take over Seagintar spot he's an RFA troubles me it's another young guy you know yeah

[00:52:59] and that worries you well we have a young defensive core it would be nice to have some

[00:53:05] solid you know enthusiastic I'm saying if you didn't find the guy and you know or at least

[00:53:10] just having that seventh defenseman I was saying like Nick DeSimone Hataka should be

[00:53:15] up on this team I believe that you know I have no problem going to get another guy but I think

[00:53:19] we kind of did neglect him he's been good and I think he'd be really serviceable for this team

[00:53:25] yeah well I'd like to at least sign him and keep him around for sure he's a UFA he's an

[00:53:31] RFA RFA so that'd be interesting we'll talk about probably affordable enough that we can keep

[00:53:37] around give him give him two years you know a little extra yeah I like that 1.5 1.8 million

[00:53:44] something like that for two years I think we should dig in a little bit more on the next show

[00:53:48] a little bit more in the Lorraine Bressois see if we can find out a little bit more information

[00:53:52] I'll start to sleuth around see if there is you know how many like did he seem to have just

[00:53:57] it's the lack of starts Bob because he was a backup or throughout his career or is it like

[00:54:03] injury related it looks like a backup the only anomaly year other than like the first three

[00:54:08] where he played like one game five game two right was the 22-23 season with Vegas we're

[00:54:13] only got 11 starts and that's the year you said he was hurt yeah um Vegas had 20 24 before that

[00:54:19] he had a 14 14 games in 2021 with Winnipeg and then 19 yeah average is like 20 okay then he's

[00:54:25] splitting games with Hellevon so that's gonna take a big chunk out of anybody else's

[00:54:29] starts I think it's I think it would be out of out of what you're gonna give up and for

[00:54:34] what you're gonna get like tell me you don't have concerns about Omar Soros and we talked

[00:54:40] about the ones for marks from already like I have concerns about all three of them so why am

[00:54:45] I gonna go and give up a guy who can really become something like Dawson Mercer if you're

[00:54:51] looking at Soros and Omar right we're not looking at you know the difference between

[00:54:56] Bressois and Vasileski or Sturgeon or Baroski this is not those guys no these are none of

[00:55:02] them are there even maybe Bressois could be yes he's kind of hidden behind Hellevon right

[00:55:08] so even if he comes in you know he still gets paid decent but he's coming in and that

[00:55:13] two and a half million less than some of these other guys that's a lot of cash

[00:55:17] sure is that kind of helps us bridge him so yeah so I really think that yeah that's the only

[00:55:24] that's the smartest move to make I just think that you go and get them man

[00:55:28] and his agent will know that the devil's needed and the price might go up a little

[00:55:32] bit more for us but so what it's still not six and a half million dollars and if you are

[00:55:37] legitimately making him your starting goaltender then you should give him a decent raise you're

[00:55:42] making him right start you're telling him you believe in him we were going to pay you this

[00:55:45] money you're going to be our guy four million guys potentially and that's still very safe for

[00:55:50] both sides yeah exactly all right anything else you guys want to chat about tonight

[00:55:57] oh no that does it right before we do a good hockey game then yeah I'm gonna go watch it

[00:56:02] started at eight tonight right I thought it was eight I'm recording it anyway so I can show you
