Can Quinn To NJ Become Reality?

On this quick Sunday morning show the guys discuss the 1st round of the playoffs. Is the Quinn Hughes to NJ steam real?

[00:00:05] Hey everyone, Mr. Devil here, Kenny Danico, three-time Stanley Cup champion of the New Jersey Devils, and you're listening to The Uncle Puckers, New Jersey Devils Podcast. Let's go Devils! Yes, what Mr. Danico said. You're listening to The Uncle Puckers, New Jersey Devil Podcast with Tony Zamboni, Timmy Badney, and I'm Chris.

[00:00:30] On this early Sunday morning, a quarter to 8 a.m. Eastern Standard Time, we are here doing a podcast for your enjoyment. This is what we do. 3 p.m. Eastern Europe Time. Well, nobody cares about that. That doesn't sound like any big deal. It's not like you're suffering at all. Right, we're suffering before 8 a.m. on a Sunday. So what's up, guys? How's everybody? What's up? All right. Did you guys watch any of the Dells? Go run. I didn't watch any of it. Dallas.

[00:00:59] Dallas did win. You didn't watch any of it? That's number 9, guys. That's number 9 for that coach to win in a game 7. So that's fucking impressive. So listen to what happened. So Colorado's winning 2-0 going into the third, right? Miko Rantanen scores two goals to tie it. Gets an assist on the third goal to go ahead. And then scores a hat trick on the game winner. Wow.

[00:01:26] The third goal was on the power play. And Jack Drury was in the penalty box. Jack Drury, who was one of the ones traded for him from Colorado. Carolina. And Martin H. Just was diving all over the place, fake being hurt, and wound up with zero points in the series. How did Mackenzie Blackwood play? He was okay. I don't think there were any of the goals that were particularly his fault.

[00:01:55] The third one, or the Rantanen's second one went in off a defenseman's skate on kind of a wraparound. He was a little slow going post to post. But he was okay. Like, I wouldn't pin that on him by any... But that's brutal. I mean, that is absolutely brutal. You look at all the great moves that the Colorado Avalanche did throughout the course of the year. I mean, they were course correcting in real time and doing a really good job of it. And then the whole Rantanen thing happened.

[00:02:23] And that was, like, kind of uncharacteristic for them, right? It was like, wait a second. And we knew that maybe they wouldn't re-sign him. They couldn't re-sign him. They're going to try and get something for him. But it kind of happened out of nowhere. And Carolina was not really a team anybody was really thinking was going to get him. So, like, that whole thing seemed weird. And then we know what happened in Carolina.

[00:02:42] But then to have him come back, to have, you know, your ex-girlfriend come back and just do that to you in game seven of a playoff is brutal. I don't know how you get out of that. Like, how do you come back from that? That's brutal. It was an unbelievable scriptwriter type of shit. Yeah. And now DeBoer is, I think, 9-0 in game seven, as I said. And Bednar is 0-4. Pretty bad.

[00:03:11] I like DeBoer, man. I liked him when he was the devil's coach. I don't know something about him. He had a certain – he wasn't too old. He wasn't too young. He kind of had that slickness to him, you know? Yeah. He was right in the middle. Right in the middle. Like his hairline. Yeah, exactly. When he was a devil's coach, he was kind of right in the middle. Now it's two for her off. So it was a great game. It's a shame that that had to be a round one series. You know, I really think the NHL needs to go back to one to eight seeding.

[00:03:42] I think we should do one to 16, travel be damned, Edmonton, New Jersey round one. That's what I want. I picked Edmonton, didn't I? I have to say, too. It sucks to admit this, but after the Devils got eliminated, man, I've watched the scoreboard, but I've had like – it's almost like stepping away. Yeah, I had to. I haven't really been into it. I mean I was kind of really surprised the Lightning fucking got kicked out when they did because I picked – I think I picked them going all the way. We all did.

[00:04:11] I picked them to win the cup, yeah. Against Colorado. Colorado. Yeah. And the thing with Blackwood is he did have a – he had a good season. We said a couple episodes ago, I guess, if he would have stayed healthy, man, he's not a bad goalie. He just can't stay healthy usually. I picked the Kings to win the cup, and they got bounced again four times in a row by the fucking Oilers. I don't think I've gotten a first-round series right except for the Capitals. What about – yeah. What about Ottawa? Ottawa just – you know. No, we got that one right except you.

[00:04:41] Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I think Vegas I got right and the Jets, but my whole bracket's fucking blown to pieces. Yeah, I mean I liked one through eight. It was definitely – I mean it's the old school way, but they're never going to change it because they want that first-round Colorado-Dallas matchup. They want it. You know, they want New York, New Jersey first round. This is the shit that they wanted to see, and I think it's – I prefer that being a

[00:05:09] later matchup, but Dallas is a damn good team. I took them to win this series in seven, I think, and they did. That was like the one I got right. I think you guys all took Colorado. I think I was the only one that took Dallas. I mean, Dallas didn't have Haskin. They didn't have Robertson. Their whole right side of their D is terrible. I thought they were going to get dog-walked by Colorado. It just didn't happen. So is Halibut going to blow game seven tonight, boys?

[00:05:38] I don't think so, man. It could happen, but he's been pulled on what every – so it's every road start? It's the way games, yeah. The way games he was pulled? I mean, I don't think so, but who the hell knows? I mean – It's unbelievable, man. And now, you know, all this stuff, like in retrospect, you know, with Colorado just emptying the clip to go after – you know, they got Nelson. They brought in Coyle. They got rid of their best prospect. They have no first-round picks, no second-round picks. You know, they have a bunch of rentals, you know, that are going to be gone.

[00:06:08] They have no picks. They're going to be in cap trouble next year. That's one of the reasons why they let Rant and Walk, like, they might be in a little bit of trouble next year and the years after. You know, that's when the cap goes up, so they might be okay. But, you know, it's making me really kind of start to soften up on Fitzy. You know, like –

[00:06:30] When you hear about the ridiculous offers that were going out there, the ridiculous asks that other teams wanted for assets and the fact that he didn't pull the trigger. And then, like you said, you go out and you could revamp your entire team start to finish and still lose in the first round. I mean, yeah, anything could happen.

[00:06:52] Tone, we didn't talk to you since the Devil's Law, since, you know, the – well, basically just any thoughts that you have. So the first thought I'll hit is what you guys just said about Fitz because I think it kind of plays into my whole thought on the – you know, what happened. And what I expected to happen, and I'll admit, and I admit it to you guys off the record, I was a bit of a homer going into this, you know, on this show because I'm a Devil's fan, of course, you know. So I didn't think – it sucks to say this, but with that lineup, I didn't think we had a chance in the playoff.

[00:07:22] I didn't think we had a chance in the first round, and I think I made that clear to you guys on the side. Of course, I was pulling for him. You talk about the Fitz thing with the trade thing. Yeah, but he could have done stuff earlier. And I think you mentioned Rotten, right? Like there could have been moves made way prior to the trade deadline. There had to be things done. And I actually listened to – Tim, you may have listened to it too. I listened to a Ken Danico interview this week, and he made a comment about Lou, you know, certain things.

[00:07:49] And he did say, in this league, you have to give to get. And if you don't – if you're trying to keep all your – your cards, you're not going to get those players you need. So maybe Fitz should have moved off of some of the guys that we like, you know. Not the Hughes, not the Nikos, but maybe a Mercer should have been sent out and stuff, you know. I mean – and when Danico said that, I really started thinking to myself. I was like, that's right, you know, you're not going to get something good for nothing.

[00:08:14] Yeah, but there's also – I agree 100%, but there's also value to be thought of. Like if he had gone out and given away Mercer Nemich, a first-round pick to Nashville, and just gotten Rylan O'Reilly, and the same thing happens in the first round with all the injuries. Like we would be calling for his head for giving that shit up to us. That's the risk you take. Right.

[00:08:37] Now, my whole thing is there's nobody on this team besides – and I'm going to tell you guys right now, honestly, 100%, these are the only guys on the team that I want – that I would care if they left. And that's Markstrom, Luke, Jack, Brat, Timo, Nico. Yeah, it kind of ends there. I think so. It's obvious. I don't care what he does this offseason.

[00:09:07] Get rid of everybody. We have to revamp the entire bottom six. Hamilton has to go. I agree. That absolutely has to be priority one to move Dougie Hamilton to Vancouver with whatever the hell else they want and bring Quinn Hughes here because I think that's a real – I think that's going to become a real thing, a real story with real teeth. And I'm curious, what do you guys think of this?

[00:09:33] I mean, that's going to be a massive package or – Speaking of massive packages, here's our next read. Slongs are us. I ain't got a second. Or – That's the magnifying glass episode, Tim. We're doing – Oh, shit. It's a light switch episode. What? That's about four inches, right? Yeah, if you measure it twice. Yeah. I measured from the center of my back. Small hands. Jesus Christ.

[00:10:03] These morning shows are always chaotic. It's a massive package. And who knows if Vancouver wants a whole bunch of, you know, kind of second tier shit. Or if it's a one-for-one. And I think that one-for-one would probably be just for Bratt. That's, you know, I think in terms of – because Quinn only has two more years on his deal.

[00:10:31] And Bratt has, I think, like six years left on his deal. And a very good number. So I think that would be probably somewhat good value for them. Maybe we throw in a pick on top of that. I think Vancouver would want more a little bit. Yeah. Yeah, maybe. Talking about Norris trope. Perennial Norris trope. I get it. I get it. But Vancouver's also about to tear it all down. And, you know, they're going to be able to put Bratt with Pedersen. And, again, it's how the contracts line up.

[00:10:59] You know, Quinn only has two more years on his deal. And Bratt has – is cost-controlled for a while. That matters a lot to these GMs, especially if Vancouver's tearing it down. My only issue with that, though, is our biggest problem this entire season was scoring goals. And offense. You know, I realize Quinn provides a lot of offense from the back end.

[00:11:22] And maybe our system – I don't think Keith's systems are really designed very well to have offense be driven from the defensive end. Like we were bottom five in goals from the defense. I don't know if that was talent or – No, I don't think that was system. I think that was talent. It could have been. Yeah. And, you know, with Dougie kind of regressing and then being hurt most of the time. I think we also need to be prepared for the fact that Dougie's probably not going anywhere.

[00:11:50] Well, they're going to want a defenseman. You got to keep that – like the Bratt thing, yeah. But then what? Is it Dougie? Maybe, yeah. Maybe it's Casey. Maybe it's Nemich too. You know, I don't know. All right, so let's just say for the sake of arguments and sitting down and going over, you know, values on players. Let's just say it's a Quinn Hughes, Jesper Bratt one for one tone. How do you feel about that?

[00:12:20] I mean, I would do it. Like I said, I think that they're going to want a little bit more. And I do like Jesper Bratt a lot, but I think that, you know, I think that Quinn Hughes can become a big player when you need him. And sometimes with Bratt, even though he's doing shit all the time, if you look at his numbers, he is always – you know, he's always got some stuff going on. But he kind of flies under the radar sometimes. I don't know if I'm the only one that thinks this, but – No, you're not. You know, and again, I like Bratt a lot.

[00:12:49] But I think it will be fun, obviously. I think Luke – what do they say? He's one of the – maybe one of the top five in the league? I mean, how could you argue with that? Quinn, I mean, yeah. I mean, and with Jack and them, I think it'll be – it would be – for the Devils, it'd be great marketing-wise, of course, you know. I mean, but – Based on the game that McCarr had last night, he wasn't very good. I think Quinn might be the best defenseman in the league. Well, you know, there's something more important, too, about this whole thing.

[00:13:16] Like, if Quinn was to come to New Jersey, you can't have two number 43 Hughes's out there. Poor Luke. You know he's going to get screwed. He's going to have to wear another number. And that's kind of messed up. So what number do you pick if you're Luke? I just go – I go 48. I was going to say 42 because I'm thinking Mariano, but, you know. Oh, all right. I like that. The closer. I like it. All right. We'll go 42.

[00:13:45] 63 and a half. He goes right between him and Jack, right? No, I think actually – I guess their family number that Quinn and Jack wore at the U.S. program was number six. So I think that's probably what he'd do. I think that was like their mom's number at the U.S. team. So I think he'd probably go number six. When did guys start wearing zeros? Did you guys ever – I don't know.

[00:14:12] I started noticing zeros maybe 10 years ago in baseball and stuff when I would go to some of the games. I think that is the stupidest – when did this start, the number zero? Well, I know in the NFL, it started about two years ago. Two or three years ago they started doing – allowing people to wear number zero. I'm not – What do you think of it? Do you think it's – I think it's stupid. I do. It's like zero or double zero. Like that's the bat ball. Bat boy. You know?

[00:14:39] That's a number like I would try to wear when I was like 11. Yeah. I love single numbers. Like if I was a player and I was decent enough to wear – I think single numbers look great. But zero is just – Yeah. There's something – I don't know what it is. It's kind of – I don't know if it's my kind of OCD, but there's something kind of aesthetically pleasing about Taze and McCarr wearing number seven at eight and being deep partners. There's something about it.

[00:15:07] Like seeing the low-numbered defensemen, I like that. That's how it should be. You know, Danico three, Stevens four, you know, Luke 43. Come on, man. Paul Martin seven. Yeah. What was it? Oh, Rafalski. He was 20. But the other issue with Quinn. Peter Meyer was 27. The other issue with – Pandolfo was what? 20. Pandolfo was 20. Pandolfo was 20. Yeah. Madden was 11. Yeah. Mike Peluso, number eight. Mike Peluso was eight. There you go.

[00:15:37] There you go. Zach Grish is number nine. Yeah. Traitor. Number five. Who was number five back then? Colin White. There you go. All right. The only issue with Quinn is that we probably have to move off a lefty too. You know, we have Luke Seegs and Dylan under contract. All of them have – or I'd imagine Luke's going to be about to get a no movement clause with his extension. Pretty certain Segenthaler and Dylan do as well.

[00:16:07] I'd hate – like Segenthaler, I think he's probably in that untouchable-ish group. Look, you know, when you – you have to also keep in mind, like, if you're bringing a guy like Quinn Hughes in, you're doing it to bolster your decor to get rid of Segenthaler. It's just like a, you know, like you say, you know, two steps forward, one step back kind of thing. Like, you make Hamilton that piece to kind of move, you know, not Segenthaler. Yeah, and I'm talking lefty-righty.

[00:16:37] I know you're talking the sides. I'm very – yeah, I'm very – like, I think I'm – you know, and I think the Devils might be a little bit like that too, is they think very strictly about lefty-righty. It is really difficult on the defenseman. I think Quinn's probably fine and can adapt pretty well. I mean, he's fucking nasty. But it is difficult to play D on your offside. And it's going to have to be Quinn's call. Like, we're going to have to hear Quinn say – or Quinn's going to have to tell Rutherford, you know, look, I want to go to Jersey. Make it happen.

[00:17:07] Like, that's the only way this thing's going to happen. Maybe that was – maybe he did, Chris. Maybe there's kind of like a little thing there, like putting it out there, you know, kind of like laying out the – laying out the cards saying, hey, this is a – And Rutherford also said, because it came out that Quinn and Tockett were like super tight. And Quinn really liked Rick Tockett. And now that Tockett's not going back, Rutherford had said that he reached out to him, told Quinn, I guess in a voicemail, and he hadn't heard back. He's like, usually he gets back to me right away.

[00:17:37] And I haven't heard yet. So I don't know if that was Quinn kind of just digesting everything like that happened there this year. It's a shit show. It's going to continue to be a shit show. And now the one guy that you really like that had your back, the head coach, is not coming back. Yeah, he might be right. One of the funniest things I saw is one of those Instagram hockey accounts. It was like a picture of Quinn. And, like, you know, they had, like, ridiculous headlines on him. It's like, didn't return phone call.

[00:18:06] It's like, what have we become as a society? Right. But Rutherford made a point to let everybody know that this is not something that happens often. I mean, I think Tony's exactly right. He's preparing the Vancouver fan base that Quinn is going. And then it also later said, more specifically, he was like, Quinn has two years left. And in a year and nine months, if we haven't figured out an extension, we're going to have to do something. Yeah.

[00:18:34] So that's more specifically and more pointedly saying, like, yeah. And then someone yesterday posted on Twitter, it's like, Quinn sold his condo in Vancouver. So everybody's like, oh, my God. Well, I think you're right, Tim. I wouldn't be ordering a Quinn Canucks jersey if I was a fan of that. It's kind of like as a Raider fan with Adams last year, I knew that you don't want to have that jersey. You kind of get it as a fan base. You know when it's kind of happening. Yeah.

[00:18:58] And I think with Quinn, like, when they heard that, I'm sure every Canucks fan was like, get ready. In terms of, you know, of a trade, you know, there are two kind of comparable trades that have happened recently. You know, one was Eric Carlson getting traded from Ottawa to San Jose. Yeah. But you're frozen. You're frozen. You're totally frozen. You're pretty handsome. But you got a good look right now on there. I got to say, man, it's like you got your good side on that freezer.

[00:19:27] You look like you're about to tell me you're disappointed. He looked like he was about to tell me he was very disappointed. Yeah. And now he didn't have the mouth wide open look. Now I don't even have the picture. I know. Or the Tim Stroke photo. Well, it's going to have to do the rest of the show like this because I can't X off and come back because then it'll stop the entire show. So go ahead. Yeah. So there are two comparable trades. I forgot what Carlson's was.

[00:19:52] But another trade that I think would be similar is the Maca Chuck from from Florida, between Florida and Calgary, where Calgary or sorry, Florida gave up Hubert O and Weger. You know, the point production, Hubert O is over 100 points. Weger is one of their best best defensemen. So I think that actually is can be used as sort of a comparable to this.

[00:20:16] So and damn Tim of Chuck, they think of like I heard it a few times from people who are like, well, it matters what Chuck's going to come back. Well, Florida, you know, they showed. I mean, it's there. And Quinn has no trade protection. So if it gets really bad in Vancouver, I mean, Rutherford could go could theoretically. He probably won't, but could tell him to go fuck himself and trade him to, you know, San Jose or something like that. He absolutely could.

[00:20:44] I don't think that that's going to happen if he's going to do. You know, first of all, you want to do right by the guy. He's done right by you. And I don't think that Rutherford is a guy kind of guy that's going to take him and put him in a shitty situation. But regardless, this is something that I have to say I have to get Bobby credit for for since after probably the last two seasons, Bobby was like a big, quote unquote, hockey trade has to happen with this team. It has to be something big to get over that hump.

[00:21:14] And it's a Brad. It's a Mercer. It's a Timo. It's it's a guy like that for, you know, like we talked to Brady Kachuk or something like that to to now the Quinn Houston. I love the idea of Quinn being on this team. Like I think of a power play that can have all three Hughes boys on it. That's pretty friggin awesome. So, yeah, I mean, I would love to see it. But since we don't have a ton of time, any other final thoughts, you guys, on the Devils before we jump into one other subject?

[00:21:42] If I'm the Devils, I'm making a promo video with Nemitz scoring that goal in the playoffs and some good Mercer photos. And that's what I'm shipping. That's what I'm sending to teams to try to. I think now's the time to move some guys, man. If you can, because, you know, you kind of, you know, now you're saying, oh, look, Mercer came through in a big game and not Mercer, but Nemitz. And I think we got to do everything we can to keep Nemitz. You know, I think he'll be good to you. I've been one of his Saunces defenders all season. I haven't given up on him.

[00:22:11] He was one of our best defensemen last season, two seasons ago. Now, I think he was just a little off this whole season. Lacks of confidence. You know, the injury at the beginning of the year fucked him up. But getting that confidence back, like, man, he was good. And now... You can't blame him for bitching, right? Because that's his heart. You know, that's what he wants to do. Yeah. And Europe, you know, in Europe, and you know this, like, in soccer or football, sorry,

[00:22:37] they're a little more forthright and transparent about their commentary to journalists. And I think that's kind of the style that he made those comments in. But if Kovacevic now has to get knee surgery and said he's probably not going to be ready for the beginning of the season, that hurts our right side now. So that's why I'm kind of thinking, you know, again, it's a short-term, long-term thinking where we may have to hold on to Dougie and hope he bounces back and hold on to Nemich.

[00:23:06] And that right side will be, you know, Pesci, Kovacevic, Nemich. Or Pesci, Dougie, Nemich until Kovacevic gets back. And then he knows what. It's weird not seeing Chris. Chris, the visible man, what do you got over there? Ooh, I'm the invisible man. By the way, it looks like Group 1 is running away with the most overrated bands. I think you're going to win, Tim. So you better have a good, whatchamacallit, a good category for Thursday night.

[00:23:36] Kovacevic, can you do Thursday night? I'll talk to you guys about that. Maybe relative, maybe around like 5, 530. Yeah, yeah, if it's really like that, I think I can. And I got to say, man, when I played the snake draft a couple weeks ago, I was really surprised. Mine did okay, actually. There's not a bunch of Birkenstock-wearing, canola-eating fish fans. So on Twitter, I called in the death metal guy for you. Ah, classic.

[00:24:05] I didn't think I was going to win, but I thought I was going to be at the bottom. You know. No, Bobby is flat in the bottom of this one. But so, Tom, we haven't talked since the draft. Ashton Gentry going to the Raiders. Oh, I'm excited. I'm excited. I mean, you got to be super excited. Yeah, you know, I hate to get too excited being a Raider fan, but I have to admit, you know, our offense, I don't know if we're going to get rid of May or not, but it looks pretty damn good right now, man.

[00:24:31] And, you know, like I said, that division, Denver took a big step up last year. I was bashing, what's his name? Knicks at first, and he wound up being really impressive. Yep. I think Kansas City is going to take a step back. San Diego made some great moves, I think. I agree. I think the Raiders are going to be tough, though. You don't think Kansas City is going to take a step back, Tim? No, I do think they are. No, I... Tim made a face when he said that. It's like... He's a Ravens fan.

[00:24:57] No, but it's just like, I will never, ever count Kansas City out until they're out. But, you know, they're the, you know, I don't know, for lack of a better comp, you know, it's like the Washington Capitals. It's like everybody thought they'd been dead for the past two years, and here they fucking come again. And they look good, huh? It's crazy. Yeah. So, you know, on paper, yeah, I agree with you, but I'm never going to count those guys out until now. No, you're right. You can't. I mean, Raiders may win five games this year, but I just don't think so. I just think that...

[00:25:26] I think how you... Now you have, you know, who we've drafted, and then now you've got to stop Bowers, too. I just think there's going to be so much weapons on that offense. The offensive line is the big question, which has been the question for them for a long time. I know Crosby, I watched when they were doing the draft, they showed Crosby as they announced the draft, and he was pumped up, you know? Yeah. Jensie's nasty, man. He's so... It's just like his speed, his open field running, he just hits the holes. It's like, oh my God. But, man, what's his name? What? Did you guys talk about after that?

[00:25:55] I'm sure you guys talked about it afterwards. What's a Deion's kid, man? Jesus. You know, if I have him, though, if I drafted him now, I'm going to feel okay, because this guy has to be motivated. He has to want to piss off people, and he has to, you know... I don't know, Tone. I don't know if he's self-aware enough to actually understand how humbling this was. When you are, by far, the most accurate passer in this draft, and I didn't like any of these

[00:26:25] quarterbacks that were in this draft, but when you look at what an NFL team looks for, right? The one thing that's the hardest thing to change is accuracy. If you're not accurate, and you don't have the right coaching staff around you, it's really friggin' hard to become an NFL quarterback. He already has that, you know? And he can work the middle of the field, which is something that a lot of players don't do coming out of college. He knows kind of a pro system-ish. I'm not saying the kid's going to be good.

[00:26:53] I told you guys I thought his comp was maybe Kirk Cousins. Like, maybe. But, like, I just don't think he's self-aware enough. Like, this kid lives in a fucking bubble where he honestly thinks that the sun rises and sets up his ass. He thinks daddy will take care of everything. And all he has to do is show up. And I don't know. I don't know if he's...

[00:27:20] He seems to me the kind of kid that's going to come in and expect everything fucking handed to him. And is he going to put the work in if it's not? And I think a lot of teams avoid him because of his father. I mean, because, you know, you're going to have his father in the media when he's doing his press conferences, blasting whatever team drafted him. But that, I will say, classless on that Falcons thing, man, where they pranked him on the draft. Oh, that's fucked up. That's just like... And he's not getting... They're not punishing them at all. Oh, man. I hope that dad beat the shit out of that kid when he got home.

[00:27:50] What? With like a fine? Oh, yeah. I mean, what are you going to do? It's awful, though. Like, ban him from... Like, that's... I don't know. That just, to me, that type of shit, like, I get it was a prank and it was the kid, but I don't know. That just doesn't feel severe enough to me. I'll tell you what bothered me the most about the whole thing, because I finally heard the phone call. All right. So, it's 2025. I understand that kids... This kid's like 21, Ulbricht's kid, so he's not really a kid.

[00:28:20] But, I guess, like, anybody born, you know, in that era, they literally don't have any clue how to fucking prank call. Like, we were the masters of prank calls. The Jerky Boys. Remember? There were CDs that taught you. There were CDs. There were movies and TV shows just about prank calls. And think about... Like, we... I'm listening to them. I'm like, this isn't funny at all. Like, this isn't funny. Like, if you're pranking somebody and you're gonna record it, at least make it... They have no idea how to prank.

[00:28:49] So, for that, I think Brick or Jack Ulbricht? Is that Jax? Is that his name? Jax. Yeah. That's my dog's name. Yeah. If you're not a dog or a character in Mortal Kombat, your name shouldn't be Jax. You know, it's bad enough this fucking moron has to go through life like that. So, I mean... Jax off. I know. Call him and, like, pretend like you think it's Domino's or something like that. Like, that would have been fucking funny. Like, that would have been funny. It's just mean. It's just... Yeah. It was mean. It was mean. Yeah. It's just...

[00:29:18] You know, and it was intentionally mean and, you know, not to make assumptions, but it was certain characteristics of both of them that lead me to believe there were some other motivations there, but... And Chris, you're anti-Falcons 100%, right? So, you'll tell them. Chris is not a Falcon guy. I'll tell you. You look at the Falcons over the course of, like, the last couple of years, right? They got into a shitload of trouble with the tampering with Kirk Cousins coming there from

[00:29:47] Minnesota. And then the whole drafting the Michael Penix thing and what it kind of... The disarray that caused. And then this bullshit with... Like, they went from, like, at one point, a very well-run organization to now, in my opinion, one of the worst-run franchises in the NFL. Like, they're just a goddamn clusterfuck. So, no, I don't like the...

[00:30:10] Arthur Blank is kind of like a weird derivative version of Jerry Jones a little bit. But he's actually a really good owner as far as giving back to the fans and stuff. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He keeps ticket prices cheap, and he does all... Sections are cheap, Chris. I don't know if you've heard that, but at the Falcons games, they have food on the menus that everyone... They have the $3 hot dogs. They make sure they have at least one or two items that the average family doesn't spend 500 hours.

[00:30:39] We went to the Bucs game against the Raiders last year. My wife paid, like, $35 for a Jack and Coke, basically, double or some shit like that. It's insane. I mean, the... You can bring a cooler into the Braves, where they play. Like, if you sit in their bleachers section, you can bring a cooler in. Like, what other baseball team lets you bring a freaking cooler in? The Rays. You can bring sandwiches. You can actually bring... The Rays. Yeah, the Rays. Actually, you can bring sandwiches from the grocery stores there, which is... I don't know if they still do that, but that's what they always did at the Trop.

[00:31:09] And I thought that was awesome, because you don't have to, like, pay the concessions. You could bring your own bag. They just check it. That's it. That was actually... I don't know if you guys watched the Kentucky Derby yesterday or give a shit about horse racing. I didn't watch it, but... I've been out for Mr. Red. I used to go to the Preakness a lot in Baltimore, and that was one of the cooler things you used to be able to do. And, like, the Preakness isn't in the greatest neighborhood, but every year, you know, these houses, you know, it's $50 to park a car in their front yard.

[00:31:36] And all these kids had this sort of cottage industry, because, you know, the infield at Preakness, like the infield at horse races, is kind of like a chaotic fucking mess. And you could bring your own cooler in with whatever you want. And so, like, the kids in this neighborhood, you know, you'd give them $10 to drag your cooler into the Preakness for you. It was pretty cool. But then they said... Then they stopped allowing people to do that, and they kind of cut off this whole income stream for this neighborhood.

[00:32:04] It was the sort of ripple effects of that type of stuff. But I used to do all of them, or a lot of the Mercedes-Benz sports marketing stuff. So, I was involved in that stadium deal when Mercedes moved from North Jersey to Atlanta. And it was pretty interesting. And Arthur Blank was actually, like, I met him once, and he was, like, a really, really nice guy. He was a really nice guy. They hired... He hired to be the CEO of his foundation, the Mercedes-Benz CEO.

[00:32:32] So, the Mercedes-Benz did that deal with Arthur Blank to be Mercedes-Benz Stadium. And the CEO of Mercedes left Mercedes to go be the CEO of the Arthur Blank Foundation. Yeah. I mean, I know he does a ton for Atlanta. My sister lives there. And, yeah. So, he's a good owner. But, yeah. I think his problem is he's, you know, he's like 106 now. I think that's the issue. You know? So, you have a power struggle going on, like a lot of older owners and stuff do. And I just think they're a shit-run organization.

[00:33:02] I think, you know, when you're one of those NFL teams or NHL teams or anything, and you're that well-run organization, you're always going to be in the mix. I mean, to have ownership that gives a fuck is so big. You can't win without it. You cannot win without it. And that's another thing that kind of worries me with, like, the Harris. Like, are they now – are they going to be too preoccupied with the new stadium deal in Washington for the Redskins or the Commanders? Are they going to – you know what I mean?

[00:33:30] Like, it seems like it's all Commander, Commander, Commander and not so much Devils and Sixers. Yeah. And from what I – you know, I'm obviously not a season ticket holder. I know a lot of people, you know, that I see in Facebook and Twitter. And kind of the benefits of season ticket holders are kind of starting to get less and less. And a lot of the concessions around the stadium are closed on game days. And I feel like that is kind of where you're starting to see that care.

[00:33:56] I think the Devils are always going to spend to the salary cap, like, on players. But I think where you're seeing the kind of cost-cutting and corner-cutting is, like, in the actual fan experience. That makes sense. All right. I got to go because, unfortunately, I have to work. So we're going to come back in another couple of days, go over some more shit. So what do you guys think? On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being this is definitely going to happen, 1 being you have a better chance of seeing Moses.

[00:34:23] Does Quinn Hughes become a New Jersey Devil this summer? Scale 1 to 10, what do you guys think? Tony? This summer I'm going to go 5 altogether. I'm going to say he's going to eventually be a Devil. But I think this summer about a 5. Okay. I think at this very moment, you know, with the season still going on, I think it's still pretty low. I think it's at 2. I think we'd have to see if Jim Rutherford puts his foot in his mouth anymore this summer

[00:34:52] or, you know, in his case, becomes a little too transparent this summer and see if it, like, devolves any worse than it has. I'd love to see it. But I just think, you know, Fitz needs to be careful because one thing I do, I am a little concerned about and is having all three brothers and then having it be so Hughes-centric and, you know, Nico's still the heartbeat of this team, you know, and trying to run everything through the Hughes brothers.

[00:35:20] I can see it getting a little chaotic. But picking up a Norris Trophy defenseman is, that's something we should do. We have the benefit he wants to be there, you know. I'm with Tone as far as this goes now. It's a 5. But eventually it's going to be a 10. He will at some point, or let me say this, they all will at some point in their career play together. I don't know where it's going to be. I'll be honest with you. But they're all going to play together somewhere.

[00:35:46] Um, that's an excellent, excellent point, um, that you made Tim, because we talked about this offense being so Jack-centric. Like what happens when it's Jack and Quinn who are just dynamic? And then when Luke gets to that level, I mean, look, I guess you want it to be that if they can do it, but you're right. You know, what does that mean for Heischer and his role? What does that mean for a lot of other players here?

[00:36:11] Um, you're, you're bringing in, you're bringing in a big player. You're not bringing in a big personality with Quinn. And that's something why I think it will work. He is not JT Miller. He's Quinn Hughes, you know? And yeah. Yeah, no, I, I agree. I agree. And you know, I'm thinking more on ice, you know, because Quinn is one of those guys that, that the puck is always on his day. I think, you know, I think he leads like the, the lead by a fucking country mile.

[00:36:41] In terms of, um, possession time in the, in the offensive zone. So I don't know. It'd be, I mean, I'm, I'm not talking my, I'm not talking. Chris, I know you got to go. I want to add one thing really fast. Um, I do want to add, and Tim, again, if you heard the same interview with Danico, you're probably going to agree with this. He made a very interesting point about Jack realizing that he doesn't have to do certain things on the ice that are going to lead him to injury, that he has other people that can do that. And I thought that was a great point.

[00:37:08] Um, we could talk about more of that on the next episode, but I thought, I don't know if you heard that Tim, but I really thought to myself, I was like, yeah, Jack doesn't have to go to that corner or something. He doesn't have to. And I think that's a problem, you know, it was a good interview. He actually, and, uh, he made that point. He's like, you know, Jack's in situations sometimes that he doesn't have to be in. And he understands because the kid has so much heart. He said, the kids just chomped. Even right now he was talking about like not being in a playoffs was killing them. So I, you know, I really took that point.

[00:37:36] I thought it was a great point, but, uh, you know, so what was the question to me though at the end? No, your final thoughts on the, on the devils, whatever. Hey, you know, like I said, you guys know, I was not too confident after Christmas. Um, you know, the injuries killed us. Let's be honest. How do you, you got six guys out like that. And it just kept on every, I, if we would have kept on going on, I think we would have had a Utica roster by the end of the second round. It was a nightmare season two seasons ago. We had zero. If you remember injuries, we were like, Oh my God, this is great.

[00:38:04] Well, now we got the backside of it. Um, additions have to be made. If you don't make the additions, you're going to be in the same boat next year. Cause I believe the team as it is now, even with the health, I'm going to say this and it's going to be like, and I love my devils, but even with the team healthy, I still think you got to make one or two moves. And I think you got to get rid of, when I say get rid of, I don't mean it in a mean way, but if we can move Hamilton and guys like that, I think it'll benefit the team. And Tim, I do like Hamilton too. I just think it would be best for the devils if they can move them. I mean, I, I love Dougie. I think he brings a lot, but he's always hurt. You know, it's three out of four seasons.

[00:38:34] He's been hurt and just, we can't have $9 million sitting on the shelf if, if he's not going to be out. Yeah. That that's my reason why I think he's still an incredibly productive and important person on this team. And I think he was really, really badly hurt still in the playoffs, but. And Nico showed what a pimp he was too, man. Even though with the chips down. So that was a promising thing that we saw from him this year. I absolutely love Nico. Hey, there's my name. I put that up. It's weird.

[00:39:02] Cause it's hard not to talk when you can't see, you don't realize when you can't see the person, it's hard to know when they're going to speak and stuff. So we're going to be back. Like I said, in a couple of days, if you guys are listening, you, you know what to do, the likes, the, you know, subscriptions, the downloads, all the other bullshit for Tony and Tim. I'm Chris. We are the uncle puckers and we'll see you when we see it. Thanks for hanging out with us. This little power play episode on Sunday. If you watch this live, get a, get a fucking life. That's nice. 30 here.

[00:39:31] Hey, listeners. You're so fucking stupid. It's over, Johnny. It's over. All right, boy.
